 Modern Vampires Of The City
Vampire Weekend
$18.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Modern Vampires of the City is Vampire Weekend’s third album, and it will be released on May 7th, 2013. The album is a bustling world of voices and visions — from the death of Henry Hudson to the Orthodox girl falling in love at an uptown falafel shop, from Hannah Hunt tearing up the New York
Times on a distant beach to the lethal chandelier of “Everlasting Arms”, from the ardent yearning of “Don’t Lie” to the harmonized voice of hope in “Young Lion”.
For this album, Rostam Batmanglij and Ezra Koenig traveled to LA to collaborate with Rostam’s longtime friend, and fellow producer, Ariel Rechtshaid. They brought with them writing and recording sessions from New York and Martha’s Vineyard and began to stride towards realizing the finished album and were later joined by drummer Chris Tomson and bassist Chris Baio. Drums and bass were recorded to analog tape at Vox Studios. Built in the 1930’s, it’s one
of the oldest privately owned studios in Los Angeles. Those parts were then reintegrated with the sessions and further manipulated to create a synthesis of sound and tone, both old and new. Modern Vampires of the City has a grandeur and romanticism evocative of the city where it was conceived.

 Freak Out!
Frank Zappa
$39.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
180 Gram Vinyl Double LP!
Mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering!
Ranked 246/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Freak Out! is the debut album by American band The Mothers of Invention, released June 27, 1966 on Verve Records. Often cited as one of rock music's first concept albums, the album is a satirical expression of frontman Frank Zappa's perception of American pop culture. It was also one of the earliest double albums in rock music (although Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde preceded it by a week), and the first 2-record debut.
Mothers Of Invention changed from an R&B covers band to performing Zappa's original material when he joined the group. Freak Out! contains a range of musical styles from R&B, doo wop, and blues-influenced rock to orchestral arrangements and avant-garde sounds.

 The Natch'l Blues
Taj Mahal
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Taj Mahal's second album, recorded in the spring and fall of 1968, opens with more stripped-down Delta-style blues in the manner of his debut, but adds a little more amplification (partly courtesy of Al Kooper on organ) before moving into wholly bigger sound on numbers like "She Caught The Katy And Left Me A Mule To Ride" and "The Cuckoo" -- the latter, in particular, features crunchy electric and acoustic guitars and Gary Gilmore playing his bass almost like a lead instrument, like a bluesman's answer to John Entwistle. Most notable, however, may be the two original closing numbers, "You Don't Miss Your Water ('Til Your Well Runs Dry)" and "Ain't That A Lot Of Love", which offer Taj Mahal working in the realm of soul and treading onto Otis Redding territory. This is particularly notable on "You Don't Miss Your Water", which achieves the intensity of a gospel performance and comes complete with a Stax/Volt-style horn arrangement by Jesse Ed Davis that sounds more like the real thing than the real thing. "Ain't That a Lot of Love", by contrast, is driven by a hard electric guitar sound and a relentless bass part that sounds like a more urgent version of the bassline from the Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'". This LP reissue includes a trio of bonus tracks: a faster-paced rendition of "The Cuckoo" with a more prominent lead guitar, the slow electric lament "New Stranger Blues" featuring some good mandolin-style playing on the guitar, and the rocking instrumental "Things Are Gonna Work Out Fine," which is a killer showcase for Davis' lead electric guitar and Taj Mahal's virtuosity on the harmonica.
Track Listing:
1. Good Morning Miss Brown Corinna
2. I Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Steal My Jellyroll
3. Going Up To The Country, Paint My Mailbox Blue
4. Done Changed My Way Of Living
5. The Cuckoo (alternative version)
6. She Caught The Katy And Left Me A Mule To Ride
7. The Cuckoo
8. You Don't Miss Your Water ('Til Your Well Runs Dry)
9. A Lot Of Love
10. New Stranger Blues
11. Things Are Gonna Work Out Fine

Mastered from the Original Tapes
Gatefold Cover
The legendary Christopher Cross set the music world on fire back in 1979 with his superstar brand of rock, pop and soulful
melodies which landed him at the top of the charts almost immediately with his debut self-titled masterpiece Christopher Cross.
Augmented with the brilliant musicianship of master musicians like Michael McDonald, Nicolette Larson, Don Henley, Eric
Johnson, Larry Carlton, Valerie Carter, Billy Payne, Michael Omartian and J.D Souther, the Christopher Cross album would prove to
become the huge catalyst for things to come.
For the next two years, the singles and hit album tracks would take the artist to the top of all the popular music charts as this
masterwork would eventually take the artist to the 1981 Grammy Awards, where he would go on to win in five major categories,
including Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best New Artist Of The Year. This historic feat hasn’t been
matched since, and it’s easy to hear why…the music tells the story.
The nine performances contained within the Christopher Cross album were of legendary proportion, which still makes this
one of the most successful albums of the classic rock era.
No stone is left unturned, as this masterpiece is loaded with hit after hit
with smashes like the number one Sailing which forever etched the title superstar to this legend, as well as more number ones and
top charters like his first hit single Ride Like The Wind which crossed unto all radio formats back in 1979. And who could forget the
amazing background vocals of fellow superstar Michael McDonald of The Doobie Brothers!
More Cross magic continues with the rockin’ opener Say You’ll Be Mine duet with the late great Nicolette Larson and his jazz
centerpiece Spinnin’ featuring the golden voice of Valerie Carter.
As one of the most enduring albums in history, the Christopher Cross LP also shows the guitar showmanship of this legend with significant guitar workouts on tracks like Minstrel Gigolo, The Light Is On and the hit single Never Be The Same.
All in all, a collection of songs which took the fans by storm, forever associating the title superstar to the Christopher Cross name.

 Nothing's Shocking
Jane's Addiction
$17.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Jane's Addiction may not have been a strict metal band, but their music was certainly full of traits inherent to the genre: hard, gleaming and powerful. Their 1988 release Nothing's Shocking captured the much too short-lived quartet at its absolute peak. Combining radically diverse musical elements from art and classic rock, to hard-core punk and funk, Jane's Addiction was the last great precursor to the alternative revolution of 1991-92. From songs about Ted Bundy (Ted, Just Admit It) to punk ideology as Eastern philosophy (Pigs In Zen) to mystic romances (Summertime Rolls) and early-morning thoughts (Standing In The Shower...Thinking), Perry Farrell consistently dissects his subjects through a psychologically-stimulating viewpoint while the extremely talented band made up of guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkin provide the songs with an expansive set of musical colour. A must-have for lovers of cutting-edge, influential, and timeless hard rock.

1. Up The Beach
2. Ocean Size

4. Ted, Just Admit It
5. Standing In The Shower...Thinking
6. Summertime Rolls

Johnny Cash Greatest Hits Volume 1
Johnny Cash
$26.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP
|
First Time on Audiophile Vinyl
Gatefold Cover presentation of his classic 1967 multi-platinum Greatest Hits LP!!!
Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray from the original Columbia Records tapes
Manufactured at R.T.I.
Johnny Cash was born during the great depression into a poor family in Arkansas. At a very young age he worked on the family farm
and experienced many of life’s struggles. This is also the time he would develop his love for music, family and the Bible, which followed him
closely throughout his long career. In the early fifties after spending time in the Air Force, he moved to Memphis, became friends with folks
like Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, and ultimately cut some sides at Sun Studios which became the catalyst
that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar, troubadour and humanitarian unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at Columbia Records knew that this young fellow named Johnny Cash was destined for superstardom. They quickly signed
the legend to a long term deal, and his first Columbia singles like his prolific Don’t Take Your Guns to Town forever etched “The Man In Black”
trademark to his name.
In 1967 after many chart topping country and pop albums and a bevy of hit singles and Grammy Awards, more fame followed as the
brass at Columbia Records honored their journeyman Johnny Cash with his first hits collection, the multi-platinum Johnny Cash’s Greatest
Hits Volume 1.
The album was a blockbuster as it topped the charts, making this a crossover hit with both country and pop audiences, proving once again that his career was of historic merit.
Filled with more hits than a roadside jukebox, the amazing album takes off with the classic duet with wife June Carter Cash and
Grammy Award winner Jackson. This chart topping single is followed up by one of his most famous songs the number one I Walk the Line.
More treasures follow with the country belter Understand Your Man and Cash’s own hit interpretation of Orange Blossom Special, which truly
made the album a treasure trove of hits.
More greatest hits follow as the LP features a nice helping of solid smashes like Ring of Fire, Five Feet High and Rising, the aforementioned Don’t Take Your Guns to Town, and probably one of the first Bob Dylan covers ever with his haunting It Ain’t Me Babe. In total, the
album showcases eleven important Johnny Cash recordings which have truly gone on to become international classics for all time.
In honor of the Man, the Music and the Legend, Friday Music is very proud and honored to announce the first time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl release of the Columbia Records classic Johnny Cash’s Greatest Hits Volume 1 by Johnny Cash.

Kennedy contributed a considerable amount to the overall songwriting process of Blackbird, which resulted in a heavy, groovy and aggressive album. Alternating acoustic interludes and hard-hitting choruses, the band’s new found songwriting freedom resulted in a fresh start for this Florida based Rock band. Hotel California
The Eagles
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Ranked 37/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
The definitive American country rock album mastered from the original analog master tapes and pressed on 180 gram vinyl for the first time! Hotel California marked a major leap for the Eagles and a stylistic departure from their earlier work. The album was their first to be made without Bernie Leadon, who had given the band much of its country flavor and first with rock guitarist Joe Walsh. It also sees the emergence of Don Henley as the band's dominant voice, both as a singer and lyricist. In the early part of their career, the Eagles never seemed to get a sound big enough for their ambitions; after changes in producer and personnel, as well as a noticeable growth in creativity, Hotel California unveiled what seemed like a whole new band. It was a band that could be bombastic, one that made music appropriate for the arenas and stadiums the band was playing. The result was the Eagles' biggest selling studio release and one of the most successful rock albums of all time. This is the absolute BEST PRESSING ever made. This is definitely the verion to own!

4. Wasted Time
5. Wasted Time (Reprise)

Mastered by Joe Reagoso from Original Island Records Tapes at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray
Traffic were one of the premier architects of the acid rock movement in the sixties and blossomed further into one of the most important super groups of the seventies. Their recordings are the soundtrack to a generation of music enthusiasts that continues to this day and will forever stand the test of time.
In 1968, the legendary founding members Stevie Winwood, Dave Mason, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood went back to the recording studio after releasing two smash albums with Dear Mr. Fantasy and Traffic and continued their winning streak with their groundbreaking third LP Last Exit.
Known for their superior progressive rock, jazz and pop influences, the multi-faceted music of Last Exit offers non-stop entertainment which truly illustrates the legendary talent of this English quartet. Even further classics ensued with each of the hard rockin’ seven tracks that make up this masterwork…how about the smash sounds of Shanghai Noodle Factory or another Traffic classic Medicated Goo, plus more Windwood/Capaldi/Mason collaborations like Something’s Got A Hold Of My Toe…In addition to all of these brilliant tracks, there are two lengthy live performances captured at the Fillmore West with the jam vibes of Feelin’ Good or the Bobby "Blue” Bland belter Blind Man. Dream Theater’s first album with new vocalist James LaBrie is an excellent mix of various progressive metal styles. Standout tracks include the complex “Metropolis, Pt. 1”, “Pull Me Under” (also released as a single and video, an MTV favourite in 1992), “Take the Time” and the 11-minute “Learning to Live.” Images And Words proves that Dream Theater’s musicianship and songwriting are above the norm, and they proved to hold up this high standard for years to come.

 Speaking In Tongues
Talking Heads
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Speaking in Tongues is the fifth studio album by the band Talking Heads, released in 1983.
The album was a commercial breakthrough that produced the band's first (and only) American Top 10 hit, "Burning Down the House", which was accompanied by a promotional video. The following tour was documented in Jonathan Demme's Stop Making Sense, which generated a live album of the same name. (The concert film and live album's title comes from the repeated phrase "Stop making sense!" during the song "Girlfriend Is Better".) In addition, the album crossed over to the dance charts, peaking at number two for six weeks. In 2012, Slant Magazine listed the album at #89 on its list of "Best Albums of the 1980s".
David Byrne designed the cover for the general release of the album. Artist Robert Rauschenberg won a Grammy Award for his work on the limited-edition LP version. This album featured a clear vinyl disc in clear plastic packaging along with three clear plastic discs printed with similar collages in three different colors.
Track Listing:
1. Burning Down The House
2. Making Flippy Floppy
3. Girlfriend Is Better
4. Slipper People
5. I Get Wild / Wild Gravity

 Toys In The Attic
Aerosmith
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Remastered from the original source tapes!
Contains the classics "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", & "Toys In The Attic"
After nearly getting off the ground with Get Your Wings, Aerosmith finally perfected their mix of Stonesy raunch and Zeppelin-esque riffing with their third album, Toys in the Attic. The success of the album derives from a combination of an increased sense of songwriting skills and purpose. Not only does Joe Perry turn out indelible riffs like "Walk This Way," "Toys in the Attic," and "Sweet Emotion," but Steven Tyler has fully embraced sleaziness as his artistic muse. Taking his cue from the old dirty blues "Big Ten Inch Record," Tyler writes with a gleeful impishness about sex throughout Toys in the Attic, whether it's the teenage heavy petting of "Walk This Way," the promiscuous "Sweet Emotion," or the double-entendres of "Uncle Salty" and "Adam's Apple." The rest of Aerosmith, led by Perry's dirty, exaggerated riffing, provide an appropriately greasy backing. Before Toys in the Attic, no other hard rock band sounded like this. Sure, Aerosmith cribbed heavily from the records of the Rolling Stones, New York Dolls, and Led Zeppelin, but they didn't have any of the menace of their influences, nor any of their mystique. Aerosmith was a gritty, street-wise hard rock band who played their blues as blooze and were in it for a good time; Toys in the Attic crystallizes that attitude.

Allman Brothers Band Eat a Peach on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram 2LP from Mobile Fidelity
1972 Double LP Split Between Live and Studio Fare
Last Appearance of Fallen Member Duane Allman on an Official Release
Sonic Spectacular: Mastered from the Original Master Tapes, Mobile Fidelity Edition Captures Grit of Live Tracks and Organic Soul of Studio Cuts
Includes Standout 33-Minute-Plus Epic “Mountain Jam”
Features Complete, Accurate Reproduction of Gatefold Artwork
Tributes to fallen icons don’t come any more poignant or illustrative than Eat a Peach. Released in early 1972, slightly more than three months after guitarist Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident, the double album honors the musician via sides he recorded in the studio as well as several live performances that didn’t fit on the mammoth At Fillmore East. The Allman Brothers Band, determined to press on, also contributes a trio of songs completed after their soulmate’s passing. Its execution is near perfect, its concept timeless.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on dead-quiet vinyl RTI, Mobile Fidelity’s 180 gram 2LP of Eat a Peach joins the unparalleled reissue imprint’s other Allman titles in presenting the superlative ensemble’s work in the most lifelike, uncompromising fidelity possible. Not only is the punch of the concert fare transmitted with full-range dynamics and realistic spaciousness, but the studio cuts—in particular, the acoustically framed “Melissa” and “Little Martha”—come through with astounding clarity and body, replete with textural richness that affords listeners images of fingers on frets and sticks hitting drum skins.
In all probability, the Allman Brothers Band would’ve leapt to the fore of music’s commercial and critical elite had it not been for Duane’s fateful motorcycle accident that altered history and the trajectory of the group’s course. A statement of purpose and homage, Eat a Peach extends the guitarist’s legacy in the form of three heart-racing live tunes recorded at Fillmore East, none more important than the nearly 34-minute harmonic showcase “Mountain Jam.” Begun at the end of “Whipping Post” during the final show of the group’s four-gig stand, the tour de force improvisation finds the band at the peak of its telepathic aural and communicative capacities.
Not that the three studio originals with Duane are by any means forgettable. “Blue Sky” epitomizes the gorgeously elegant colors with which the late virtuoso could paint while the heart-stopping sentimental feel of “Little Martha” finds just he and Dickey Betts engaged in spiritual communion. To this extent, the band continues a mellower vibe on the hit “Melissa,” a country-rock ballad that taps into a melancholy feel largely courtesy of Gregg Allman’s weary vulnerability and Betts’ lyrical, slap-back-echoing guitar lines.
Yet nothing here eclipses the direct meaning and steadfast intent of the record-opening “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More,” a defiant showing of unity and understated anthem with which the band seemed to embrace as a motto. No one knew, however, that fate would again subvert the group’s plans even if it could never take away the magic held within Eat a Peach, sonic and lyrical sorcery that extends to the legendary gatefold-artwork mural.

 Weezer (Blue Album)
Weezer
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Ranked 297/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Numbered, Limited Edition!
Weezer doesn’t look like rock stars, its amusing name doesn’t evoke stadium-heights glories, and the group’s lyrics don’t exude confidence or flash. For precisely these reasons, and the fact that the band’s songs on its self-titled debut are the stuff of air-guitar dreams and shout-it-out choruses, the quartet became ironic arena-rock stars equally celebrated by in-the-know hipsters and mainstream radio listeners. Replete with urgent melodies, quirky confessional narratives, wry humor, and gargantuan hooks, Weezer (Blue Album) remains the best geek-rock record ever made.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity’s analog version of the 1994 release finally possesses the grand-scale sonics that the music’s bunker-busting hooks deserve. Cars frontman Ric Ocasek’s polished production is now both free of artificial ceilings that squashed the explosive dynamics and rid of the compression that saddled the frequency range. Instrumental separation is vastly improved, and the amount of midrange energy seemingly doubled. This reissue is guaranteed to help you rock out.
Underdogs and misfits, Weezer emerged from Los Angeles as nerdy kids that eschewed traditional party-hard ways in favor of studying Kiss records, engaging in conversations about old LPs, and playing Dungeons and Dragons. The band’s awkwardness joyfully translates in its songs on its 1994 debut, largely concerned with jealous insecurities, pop culture, true-to-life heartbreak, common accidents, youthful misconceptions, and daydreaming. Unlike many of their indie-rock peers, Weezer finds no need to conceal feelings in obscurities, snark, or impossibly impenetrable quirkiness.
While every song on Weezer is a delight, “In the Garage,” the ultimate ode to a heavy-metal practice space and private musical retreat, best spells out the album’s appeal and the band’s intent. “I’ve got an electric guitar/I play my stupid songs/I write these stupid words/And I love every one/Waiting there for me/Yes I do, I do/In the garage/No one cares about my ways/In the garage where I belong” sings leader Rivers Cuomo, his voice often meshing with that of Matt Sharp, and giving the material a barbershop-quartet harmonic boost in line with the catchiness of the guitar-driven bridges and rhythmic foundations.
More than three-times platinum, the Blue Album, as it’s often called, also claims an iconic cover that pays tribute to that of the Feelies’ Crazy Rhythms. The picture—as well as the bubblegum-inspired content within—has become an indelible part of modern culture. Weezer graces must-have lists from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Guitar World, and more. And needless to say, “My Name Is Jonas,” “Say It Ain’t So,” “Buddy Holly,” and “Undone (The Sweater Song)” are all modern classics.

Mastered Impeccably by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray from the Original RCA Records tapes Manufactured at R.T.I
Elvis Aaron Presley was born during the Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during the early
fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, he cut some demos at Sun Studios as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys. These initial songs,
of which he had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide
superstar unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly bought out his contract
and signed the legend to a long-term deal, and his first RCA single Heartbreak Hotel forever etched “The King of Rock and Roll” trademark
to his name.
Over the next three decades, Elvis Presley would release dozens of hit albums and tons of smash singles, spend time in the Army, star
in over 35 top charting films, as well as sell out concert tours around the states and Canada making him the most successful solo artist of all
time. In 1977, his career ignited even further thanks to his highly successful tour and his much anticipated newly released LP Moody Blue.
Already gaining popularity in advance thanks to two chart single smashes Moody Blue and Way Down, this masterwork album
included a treasure trove of studio and concert performances that captured a very great time in the musical history of this iconic legend.
In addition to the wonderful hit singles aforementioned, The King reaches back to his early Memphis days with a tribute to Johnny Ace
with Pledging My Love and more fifties classics like The Diamonds’ Little Darlin’ and Jim Reeves’ country smash He’ll Have To Go.
Even more hits abound with sensational interpretations of Al Hibbler’s classic Unchained Melody which also hit the top ten of the
country music charts, a gospel rockin’ version of Let Me Be There and a brilliant reading of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice’s classic It’s
Easy For You.
Sadly, this was Elvis Presley’s final album as he passed away suddenly on August 16, 1977. The world was never the same after the
tragic news was told that day, as hoards of fans journeyed to his beloved Graceland to pay their heartfelt tribute to The King of Rock and Roll.
Elvis Presley’s Moody Blue album, of course already a huge seller prior to his death, would go on to become one of his biggest albums
ever, as fans rushed to the stores to buy his final masterwork. Initially pressed on BLUE vinyl, this amazing album has been out of print on
vinyl for several decades…that is until now!
In honor of the Man, the Music, the Legend, the King of Rock and Roll, Friday Music is very proud and honored to announce the limited
edition album 180 Gram Audiophile BLUE vinyl release of the RCA Records classic Moody Blue by Elvis Presley.

 Sea Change
Beck
$39.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Ranked 440/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Becks Sea Change remains the best record of the indie icons career. And how. The sonic chameleon shocked the world in 2002 with this warm-sounding folk-pop albuma sincere, honest, and mature meditation on the end of a nine-year relationship with his girlfriend. As for the vocalists trademark irony, sarcasm, and humor? Not here. In their place is an affecting emotionalism to which anyone whos ever been in (or out) of love will relate. The music is equally personal and meditative. Gorgeous string arrangements come courtesy of his father, David Campbell, and illustrate the heartbreak that informs the beautiful melodies and tranquil moods.
Best of all, this album is anything but a bummer. Intending to be heard to from start to finish, Beck begins the record with songs conveying emptiness and loss, and gradually moves on to narratives that detail what changes are necessary to regain a sense of identity, purpose, and feeling. By the time he reaches the concluding Little One, the healing has begun. Consider this Becks mellowest golda feat confirmed by its selection as the #2 record of 2002 on Village Voices all-encompassing Pazz & Jop poll.
And now, thanks to truly painstaking remastering efforts, this embraceable and intimate gem sounds better than ever. No lie. Master tapes of every cut were delivered to Mobile Fidelity engineers on a separate reel, with the finished product taking months to perfect. Unlike previous digital versions, no compression or dynamic processing was used, making this half-speed mastered 180-gram 2-LP set not just the definitive version its the only analog version worth owning!

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 8, David’s birthday, Iso/Columbia Records released his new single titled ‘Where Are We Now?’ In recent years, radio silence has been broken only by endless speculation, rumor and wishful thinking. Throwing shadows and avoiding the industry treadmill is very David Bowie despite his extraordinary track record that includes album sales in excess of 130 million; not to mention his massive contributions in the area of art, fashion, style, sexual exploration, and social commentary. Cleaning Time: 5 minutes
Size: 13w x 8 d x 10.7 h (33cm w x 20cm d x 27cm h)
Weight: 12lbs (5.5kg)
Cleaning Solution: 4.5 liters (1.2 gal) of distilled water added to 20ml of cleaning concentrate.
Manufacturer's Description:
Records are precious. Not only are they arguably the best-sounding medium for reproduced music, but they often constitute irreplaceable collections. Even with careful handling contamination cannot be avoided in the long term. It is also well known that residual compounds from the LP pressing process obscure inner detail unless removed by cleaning even new records.
Reiner Glass of Audiodesksysteme has developed a professional quality, easy to use record washing machine he call the Vinyl Cleaner. The Vinyl Cleaner is fully automatic. The record is placed perpendicularly from above into the equipment opening and the red activation button is pressed. When the green LED shines, the clean LP can be removed. During the cleaning process rotary cleaning barrels made from a microfiber material move in opposite directions while a unique ultrasonic system carefully and thoroughly removes even the finest contaminants from the grooves. In use the cleaning solution is thoroughly filtered to avoid recontamination of the LP. Two high performance fans guarantee effective drying with quiet operation.
Technical: How can sound clean?
Ultrasonic is sound generated above the human audible level.
A physical effect called cavitation results from the generation of ultrasonic frequencies in a liquid. In this cavitation process ultrasonic compression waves are created by an ultrasonic transducer. When the amplitude of this soundwave increases to a level where the surface tension of the liquid is broken, the fluid will tear apart leaving behind millions of microscopic vacuum bubbles. These vacuum bubbles then rapidly compress or implode creating millions of tiny liquid jets small enough to clean inside the smallest grooves of an LP. This process, also called microagitation, displaces any contaminants on the surface of the LP.

 A Love Supreme
John Coltrane
$16.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Ranked 47/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Right from the very first hearing, absolutely every single jazzcritic shared the same opinion – whether trained musicians or not, true or would-be jazz expert: “A Love Supreme” is John Coltrane’s most important recording. And the rave reviews which appeared in the magazines Downbeat, Jazz Hot, Jazz Podium and Swingjournal reflected this: critics all over the world, in America, Europe and Japan recognized that Coltrane’s deep religious belief had influenced both his approach to life and his music-making. It not only enabled him to express himself with great intensity but also lent him the necessary inner peace to conceive a work of almost 40 minutes in length and to lead his quartet along the same path as himself.
The first section, entitled “Acknowledgement”, has a forceful bass line which runs throughout the whole work. The powerful sound increases in intensity, whereby the bass motif undergoes constant modulation, with John Coltrane’s meditative singing creating immense tension.
In “Resolution” Coltrane’s powerful, quasi hymnlike expression comes to the fore, with McCoy Tyner achieving equal intensity in his solo. “Pursuance”, with its density, quick-as-lightning runs and block chords, gives us a taste of John Coltrane’s later ‘free’ phase. “Psalm” is filled with the famous, almost static melodies rather like a fervent prayer which are so typical for John Coltrane. “A Love Supreme” has been a faithful companion and teacher of generations of saxophonists and its message goes way beyond Music and is still valid today.

John Coltrane (tenor saxophone)

Dvorak: Symphony No. 8 (Speakers Corner)
Antonin Dvorak
$34.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
In comparison with Dvorák’s cyclical Ninth Symphony, the Eighth always seems to fade into the background somewhat, although it is actually far more venturesome as regards its formal structure than its later sister-work. The wealth of poetic mood paintings, heartfelt melodies and seemingly improvisational episodes were described by the composer as unique ideas upon which he elaborated in a completely new way, and which were intentionally far removed from his other symphonies.
In spite of the highly individual movements, the whole composition is full of airy, lyrical contrasts. The transitional passages are gentle and flowing, as for example in the chorale-like opening which leads into the disciplined, spirited main theme of the first movement. This is followed by a rhapsodic slow movement and a waltz-like Allegretto, and finally a strangely interwoven amalgamation of sonata form and set of variations.
During the course of his short career, István Kertész championed Dvorák’s Symphonies in that he was the very first to record the complete works for the DECCA label. For this reason alone, the recording constitutes an excellent performance by the London Symphony Orchestra led by its Hungarian principal conductor.
Recording: February 1963 at Kingsway Hall, London, by Arthur Lilley
Production: Ray Minshull
About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s – or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky“), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects – excluding the exception above – and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

2. Scherzo capriccioso Op. 66

Regarded by many as their most creative period, the late seventies resulted in some great sounding, well balanced and interesting albums of which Takin' It To The Streets was arguably one of the best. Kiss
$349.99 $262.49
7" Vinyl Single Box Set - 29 Vinyl Singles
|
In 1973, KISS signed its first record deal with the newly-formed Casablanca Records. KISS was the first band signed to the upstart label, which helped launch the success of the hottest band in the world.
After seeing KISS play a showcase concert at New York City’s Le Tang’s ballet studio, Casablanca founder Neil Bogart offered the band a record contract on the spot. From 1974 to 1982, Casablanca Records released 29 KISS singles on 45 RPM records. These singles were released for sale to the public, used for commercial radio airplay and to promote album sales. In many cases, as a bonus to the fans who already owned the record albums, many of these singles featured entirely different mixes, edits, and material that did not appear on any album.
These musical snapshots of KISS’ formative years have never been released in a commemorative singles edition until now.
Out of the 29 singles featured in the box sets, there are 26 highly collectible picture sleeves from original single releases around the world including Japan, Germany, Holland, Spain and the U.K., plus a 36-page booklet with unreleased photos and track annotations.
The sets also feature reissues of the 4 singles from all four solo albums from 1978 – the vinyl collection with special purple, blue, red and green vinyl – complete with a mask picture sleeve representing each individual member as originally released in the U.K.

 Second Winter (Speakers Corner)
Johnny Winter
$64.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Johnny Winter released the album "Second Winter", a passionate and fervent collection of songs, just a few months after his record debut. This legendary band’s steadfast commitment to blues is apparent in every single note they play, although tender emotions are all the more discernible in hard, rock’n’roll-like outbursts than ever before. Winter blends his crystal-clear, unmannered guitar playing with the gravelly charm of his raspy voice to produce a compact sound in which both his own compositions and old favourites ("Johnny B. Goode") are revived. It is quite clear that the white shooting star is on a par with the giants of blues as far as vocals and guitar playing are concerned.
It is often speculated over as to whether Johnny’s new ideas were simply too numerous for a single LP, or whether the producers thought they were not quite sufficient for a double LP. Whatever the answer, the original was released as a three-sided album, with a blank fourth side! In order to fill the album with fiery rock’n’roll, a new production with the 45 rpm versions of "Miss Ann", "Hustled Down In Texas", and "Highway 61 Revisited" is now included on the fourth side. It goes without saying that alongside the present double LP Winter’s audiophile first release (Columbia CS 9826) is available from Speakers Corner, too.
Musicians:
- Johnny Winter (guitar, mandolin, vocal)
- Edgar Winter (piano, alto saxophone, organ, harpsichord)
- Tommy Shannon, Dennis Collins (bass)
- 'Uncle' John Turner (percussion)
Recording: 1969 by Ed Kollins
Production: Johnny and Edgar Winter

 Greatest Hits
Patsy Cline
$29.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
200-gram vinyl pressing by Quality Record Pressings!
Cut at Sterling Sound directly from the original master tape. This was a straight transfer, bypassing the console altogether. There was no EQ of any kind. A true direct transfer, using a VMS 80, the most sophisticated lathe. You're hearing the master tape!
In the late 1950s and the '60s, country music was essentially a singles medium. This album, first released in 1967, collects a dozen of Patsy Cline's biggest hits — all of them from the country singles market — including "Walkin' After Midnight," "Sweet Dreams (Of You)," "Crazy," and "I Fall to Pieces." Producer Owen Bradley surrounds Cline's full-throated, emotionally charged vocals with lush, sophisticated arrangements that set the standard for Nashville's "countrypolitan" sound. Before Shania Twain found a new (though not necessarily improved) way to combine country and pop in the 1990s, this was the top-selling country album of all time by a female artist.

 Rega Brio-R Integrated Amp (Black)
Rega Brio-R Integrated Amp
$895.00
Rega Brio-R Integrated Amp - Black
|
The Brio–R embodies all the necessary ingredients. Substantial toroidal transformer, generous power supply components, rugged output stage, the use of film capacitors in the signal path and at all critical positions within the phono amplifier.
New output amplifier
Developed by our engineers a newly designed output amplifier using a low source impedance emitter follower Class A driver stage. Based around a complementary pair of 150w Sanken Darlington output transistors, this combination forms a complementary emitter follower emulating Class A conditions with good thermal stability and lower standing currents in the driver stage.
Remote Control
Remote control has been added to the Brio-R without compromising the sonic design of the amplifier. This was achieved by keeping the remote circuit separate to the audio circuit and having its own dedicated power supply.
There is no direct contact between the micro-controller and the signal path, the micro-controller controls the relays whilst the volume control motor uses DC control voltages.
High quality components
The Brio-R utilises the highest quality components and our engineers' experience to achieve the best sonic performance, ensuring it is the most advanced and feature packed Brio to date.
Improved power supplies
During the Brio-R design process Rega reviewed the circuit and improved the low and high current power supplies, coupling and bypass capacitors. The phono stage has been improved to reflect the current improvements in the Rega Planar turntables, where the input sensitivity has been increased along with a revision of the sub 100Hz part of the phono frequency response.
Custom Case & Design
Housed in a brand new custom case the Brio-R draws on the pedigree of the previous three incarnations of this model. The sonic recipe for the Brio-R embodies the best in traditional audio circuits with excellent engineering practice.

 Love Has Come For You
Steve Martin & Edie Brickell
$24.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Steve Martin is currently in the fifth decade of a varied and accomplished career as a comedian, actor, author and playwright, and as a Grammy®-winning, boundary-pushing bluegrass banjoist and songwriter. His fellow Texas native Edie Brickell initially burst onto the national scene in the late 80s fronting the New Bohemians, and has since carved out an iconoclastic solo career that's solidified her reputation as compelling singer and a songwriter of rare insight. Although these new musical partners have already built widely-respected individual bodies of work, their inaugural duo effort is a substantial departure, as a well as a creative milestone, for both artists. Love Has Come for You offers 13 eloquently rootsy Martin/Brickell compositions that combine the former's inventive, expressive five-string banjo work with the latter's heart-tugging vocals and vivid, detail-rich lyrics. Produced by legendary musician and producer, Peter Asher, and featuring the guest stylings of Esperanza Spalding, Waddy Wachtel, Nickel Creek alumni Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins, as well as the Steep Canyon Rangers, Love Has Come For You is playful, spacious, and irresistibly accessible.

 Give Up (Deluxe Edition)
The Postal Service
$34.99
Vinyl LP - 3 LPs Sealed
|
You can spend all the time and money in the world trying to craft the perfect pop-music scenario, but sometimes the stars have to align all by themselves. Even though early on the members of The Postal Service jokingly referred to Such Great Heights as “the hit” on their debut album, Give Up, there’s no way anyone could have predicted the eventual impact made by a mail-order album designed in a pair of West Coast bedrooms.
It’s been 10 years since the little project that could from Seattelite Ben Gibbard (aka Death Cab For Cutie’s frontman) and Angeleno Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel, Figurine) emerged from seemingly nowhere and began to burrow into the ears of anyone who came into contact with the band’s infectious electro-pop. To celebrate, Sub Pop is reissuing The Postal Service’s sole album, and including in the multi-LP set 15 bonus tracks, including two brand new songs, “A Tattered Line of String” and “Turn Around.” On top of that, the band is back together: The Postal Service will hit the road for a long-overdue victory lap, giving most fans their first (and last—seriously, don’t ask) chance to see the group in person.
Of course, the band’s music was more than just electro-pop, and the force with which Jimmy and Ben captured the indie-rock zeitgeist of the early aughts made them more of a phenomenon than just a regular old band. That such artists as Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer, Streetlight Manifesto, and Confide have covered “Such Great Heights” is a testament to both the song’s magical spark and its melodic inclusivity. The band’s sound is such a touchstone that “Postal Service-esque” has become a generally accepted musical adjective. And it goes way beyond Owl City.
While it was impossible to anticipate how massive Give Up would become, it was obvious in 2003 that these guys had made something special. Ten years on it’s amazing to know that so many people have come to agree.
Track Listing:
1. The District Sleeps Alone Tonight
2. Such Great Heights
3. Sleeping In
4. Nothing Better
5. Recycled Air
6. Clark Gable
7. We Will Become Silhouettes
8. This Place Is a Prison

 The Wall
Pink Floyd
$44.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Ranked 87/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Sourced from the original master tapes, cut by noted engineer Doug Sax, and overseen by resident Pink Floyd producer James Guthrie, this pressing bests anything you've heard. Teeming with stunning dynamics, an immense front-to-back soundstage, newly uncovered details, balanced transients, and tube-amplifier warmth, this dead-quiet pressing will have you truly hearing this all-time classic with fresh ears. Whether you already have The Wall on an older analog pressing or on one of myriad CD versions, YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS PRESSING
One of the most acclaimed concept albums of all time, The Wall is renowned as Roger Waters rock opera dealing with the abandonment and personal isolation of a rock star. Replete with smooth production, complex vignettes, and lacerating self-pity, the album yielded the U.S. and U.K. #1 hit "Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2," and was subsequently adapted for cinema by Alan Parker featuring Bob Geldof in the lead role.
No matter your generation, you've heard of and will relate to The Wall. Treat yourself and experience it like never before with this pressing, sourced from the original master tapes and finally back on LP after being out of print for many years. Having taken one year to make, Rolling Stone nailed the record's genius when the magazine called it "Rock's ultimate self-pity opera, The Wall is also hypnotic in its indulgence: the totalitarian thunder of "In the Flesh?" the suicidal languor of "Comfortably Numb," the Brechtian drama of "The Trial.""
The vinyl remastering is sourced from the original analog master tapes for these amazing transfers. Cut by expert cutting engineer, Doug Sax and overseen by James Guthrie for the best sound quality possible.

Live At The It Club (Mosaic Records)
Thelonious Monk
$99.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 4 LPs
|
The Thelonious Monk Quartet with Charlie Rouse lasted 11 years. October 31 and November 1, 1964 at the It Club in Los Angeles showcase Monk at particular high point pianistically; in fact, he went into a Los Angeles studio and recorded the album Solo Monk on the afternoons preceding and following the live taping. He is in full force throughout, but his playing is particularly superb on the standards I'm Getting Sentimental Over You and the previously unreleased Sweet And Lovely.
The band plays standards, many of Monk's famous tunes, a few lesser known items like Gallop's Gallop and Blues Five Spot and the recent compositions Teo and Bright Mississippi. Propelled by Gales and Riley, Monk and Rouse deliver amazing 10-minute excursions on such Monk classics as Nutty, Rhythm-a-ning and Blue Monk.
Rouse in his sixth year with Monk had hit his stride, truly becoming Monk's musical alter ego. Remarkably, drummer Ben Riley had joined the quartet at the beginning of 1964 and bassist Larry Gales had only logged in a month at the time of this taping; yet they already show the first signs of collective greatness on these evenings.
Mosaic has returned to the original three-track tapes and mixed them down to beautiful sounding analog stereo masters, presenting the six sets they played that night as they happened.

"Reservoir Dogs is the pulp novel I always wanted to write. Although the story is very much present day, it has a '50s feel but I used music from the '70s. In one scene, the audience learns that a local radio station is hosting a Super 70s weekend and that's why I am using and referencing the bubblegum music that was popular during that period. I found that the music was a terrific counterpoint to the action on the screen." -Quentin Tarantino

Electronic Stylus Force Gauge
|
The Deluxe AcousTech gauge is set apart from the standard version by a full metal casing, AAA battery support, and a deluxe storage case. Includes mini screwdriver and calibration weight.
The AcousTech gauge will accurately read your tracking force within 0.002 grams, the finest reading available. Many imitators only read accuracy of 0.01 grams.
Accurate and simple to use – that's the essence of a great stylus force gauge, and that's what you get with this AcousTech model. We all know, or certainly we all should know, that dialing in your correct tracking force is absolutely essential for optimal record playback. If you miss on the heavy side, your sound becomes thick and sluggish. Miss on the light side, and your cartridge is more likely to mistrack and the sound will be light and anemic.
So stop messing with those mechanical stylus balances that aren't even accurate. This is one case where digital makes more sense when it comes to fine-tuning your analog.

 Beethoven - Sonatas Nos 8 & 10
Heifetz
$32.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
2,000 Only Limited Edition
Mastered by Kevin Gray & Robert Pincus
Pressed at RTI!
For many classical music lovers, Beethoven’s eighth
violin sonata lives in the long, fiery shadow of the ninth, better known as the “Kreutzer”. This is easy to understand, as the Kreutzer is a prime example of the stormy side of Beethoven — the one many listeners see as his most exciting and revealing trait. However, just as his eighth symphony is the kinder, gentler companion to his towering, formidable ninth, the eighth violin sonata, shorter
and less aggressive than the ninth, shows a more lyrical side of Beethoven.
For this release, RCA coupled the eighth sonata with the tenth, also in G Major. One of the loveliest of Beethoven’s compositions for violin, the mood of the
tenth sonata is the perfect complement to the eighth.
Although RCA would often place Heifetz alongside great pianists like Rubinstein, it was with Emanuel Bay that he found the greatest chemistry. This new Impex LP is the long-overdue 180-gram debut of the famous Heifetz/Bay team. The two sonatas were recorded on October 16 and 17, 1952 using a single microphone. These monaural masterpieces come closer to capturing the true Heifetz tone than many concerto recordings of the stereo era and Impex’s all-analog production, featuring mastering by Kevin “Dr. Groove” Gray & Robert “Mr. Record” Pincus and pressing at Record Technology Inc., preserves
the incredible dynamic range of this historic session, without the unnatural EQ of the original
LP. Strictly limited to 2,000 pressings, this will surely become the next great collectable reissue
from Impex Records.
Track Listing:
1. Sonata No. 8 in G Major
2. Sonata No. 10 in G Major

 Down Side Up
Old Man Markley
$14.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Old Man Markley present their sophomore album, Down Side Up, a cohesive, foot tapping, stomping, 13-song album produced by Fat Mike and singer Johnny Carey.
Fiddler Katie Weed says of the album, "The songs on “Down Side Up” are the result of a wonderful confluence of things: of touring for years and waking up together in cities across the world, of discovering new worlds while still missing home, of stories that we’ve wanted to tell for ages, of melodies that permeated our minds and then soundchecks, and of songs that took shape and life truly as a collaboration between band members. Fat Mike and Johnny worked closely with the band to produce what we think is the best album we’ve ever been a part of. And it happened to be recorded in the same room where we used to burn stove-top popcorn and drink beer and dream about how amazing it would be if we could turn this passion into a life, or even career. We lived, breathed, ate, and slept these songs. Several members literally lived in the studio that we built. Recording in our own studio provided almost unbridled freedom: unlimited opportunity to tweak the songs, and the luxury of being able to take creative risks. Harmonies conceived and recorded at 3 AM or solos re-recorded during lunch became the norm, and allowed us myriad options and creative control. Where else but in the OMM home studio could we lay down a ripping distorted autoharp track and then pop outside to the backyard to record the crickets of Van Nuys?"
Track Listing:
1. Blood on My Hands
2. Rehearsal
3. America’s Dreaming

7. Hard to Understand

 Autobiography In Blues
Lightnin' Hopkins
$14.99
Vinyl LP Reissue - Sealed
|
The famous bluesman's stellar recordings for Tradition epitomized Lightnin's spare "country blues" which was in contrast to the brash and bold Chicago blues so commercially appealing at the time. Lightnin' started his career singing on Houston's street corners for change and drink and his best performances are those intimate concerts. Lightnin's first two albums for Tradition (AUTOBIGRAPHY IN BLUES and COUNTRY BLUES) were just that--down and dirty, out and out blues, honest and true--perfect documents of Lightnin's style, songs and performance. From the honest portrayal of a family in disarray in "Mama And Papa Hopkins" to the long long road of his Texas youth he sang of in "75 Highway," to the street corner busking given a turn in "Get Off My Toe," Autobiography contains as much of the life this great bluesman lived as could be hammered into twelve concise songs.
Track Listing:
1. In The Evening, The Sun Is Going Down
2. Trouble In Mind
3. Mama And Papa Hopkins
4. The Foot Race Is On

8. 75 Highway

 Stories Don't End
Dawes
$19.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
While the city of Los Angeles has been both an inspiration and a home to the four members of Dawes, they found themselves traveling east last fall to record their third album in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina with newly enlisted producer Jacquire King. It was a chance to hunker down and work each day for a month away from familiar landmarks and routines. The tracks they laid down at Asheville’s Echo Mountain Studio have yielded a 12-song disc of tremendous sonic and narrative clarity, book-ended in classic album fashion by two very different versions of the wistful “Just Beneath The Surface” – a misleading title, really, since the songs stacked in between dig so deep. Stories Don’t End is not so much a departure from the quartet’s previous efforts as a distillation of them. It spotlights the group’s maturing skills as arrangers, performers and interpreters who shape the raw material supplied by chief songwriter and lead vocalist Taylor Goldsmith into an artfully concise and increasingly soulful sound.

 Youth And Young Manhood
Kings Of Leon
$34.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Now Available on Remastered 180 Gram Gatefold Double LP
Youth & Young Manhood is the debut album from American rock band Kings of Leon, released in August 2003. The title was taken from a drawing of the family tree of Moses, found on the inside of one of their Pentecostal preaching father's Bibles. Each branch contained a line that the band was quoted as saying could easily have passed for an album title. Youth and Young Manhood, however, seemed fitting and was quickly agreed upon by all members.
The album was recorded between Sound City Studios, California (where Nirvana's Nevermind and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours were made) and Shangri-La Studio in Malibu. "Molly's Chambers," "Wasted Time" and "California Waiting" were all released as singles. "Spiral Staircase" featured on the PS3 game Motorstorm. "Red Morning Light" was also featured on a Ford Focus commercial, and as the opening song in FIFA 2004 by EA Sports. "Holy Roller Novocaine" was featured in the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby as well as on the soundtrack.
The album peaked at number 3 in the United Kingdom, but fared worse in the band's homeland, peaking outside the top hundred. The band's popularity exploded in Australia during the weeks of the 22nd and 29 September 2008, when all four of the band's studio albums reached the top 50.Youth and Young Manhood making its first top 50 chart appearance since its release in 2003, peaking at number 46. The album sold more than 940,000 copies worldwide, and was ranked at #80 in Rolling Stone's Top 100 Albums of the Decade.

 This Mother's Daughter (Pure Pleasure)
Nancy Wilson
$34.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
"This Mother's Daughter" remains the most soulful record cut by Nancy Wilson during her Capitol tenure -- producer Eugene McDaniels proves an inspired if surprising choice to helm the session, and his subtle but ingenious jazz-funk flourishes are essential to the project's immediacy and appeal. McDaniels couches Wilson in settings as smooth and rich as velvet, crafting a series of mellow, gently propulsive grooves that flirt with contemporary soul but pay heed to the singer's roots in jazz. Wilson responds with a performance that's sophisticated yet saucy, commanding the spotlight with an intensity that's missing from her lesser Capitol efforts.
Musicians:
- Nancy Wilson (vocal)
- Blue Mitchell (fluegel horn)
- Hugh McCracken, Jeff Miranoy (guitar)
- Dave Gruisin, George Duke (piano, organ)
- Chuck Rainey (bass)
- Steve Gadd (drums)
- Oliver Brown (percussion)
Recording: 1976 at The Record Plant, Los Angeles, by Phil Boogie Schier
Production: Eugene Daniels
About Pure Pleasure
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s – or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

 The Cosmic Scene (Pure Pleasure)
Duke Ellington
$34.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Still riding the success of his triumphant concert at the 1956 Newport Jazz Festival, Duke Ellington in 1958 decided to reduce his touring orchestra to a nonet dubbed "the Spacemen", and recorded this lone project with them for the Columbia label. Perhaps inspired by the first orbiting satellites, Ellington is not taking cues from George Russell or Sun Ra, whose extraterrestrial inspirations led them to even more progressive paths. This large ensemble is playing mostly standards, but the arrangements and solos carve an integrated yet elasticized concept that allows for a more expanded role for the ensemble's trombonists Quentin 'Butter' Jackson, John Sanders, and Britt Woodman, and select soloists. One in the solo spotlight is Clark Terry on flugelhorn exclusively, putting his fabled trumpet aside. The classic material presented includes clarinetist Jimmy Hamilton's features "Avalon" and "Early Autumn", the slinky stripper pole blues version of "St. Louis Blues" with Ellington's piano taking the lead, and a version of "Body & Soul", with tenor saxophonist Paul Gonsalves completely extrapolating and re-harmonizing the tune. There's a modified "Perdido", an animated and perky "Midnight Sun" that deviates from any other slow and lugubrious version of the ballad, and "Jones" a real good swinger. There are two originals; the blues bass of Jimmy Woode and the 'bones with plentiful piano from Duke infusing "Bass-Ment", and one of the more delightful of all of Ellington's book, the poppin' and boppin' "Spacemen", a bright happy horn chart led by Terry that is one of the more distinctive Ellington numbers of this time period. It comes highly recommended.
Musicians:
- Paul Gonsalves (tenor saxophone)
- Clark Terry (fluegel horn)
- Britt Woodman, John Sanders, Quentin Jackson (trombone)
- Jimmy Hamilton (clarinet)
- Duke Ellington (piano)
- Jimmy Wood (bass)
- Sam Woodyard (drums)
Recording: April 1958 at Columbia 30th Street Studio, New York
We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.
Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Blink-182. Originally release in June 2001, the album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 350,000 copies. The record was initially released in three separate configurations: the "red plane", the "yellow pants", and the "green jacket" editions. Each release contained two separate bonus tracks, ranging from joke tracks to unreleased cuts. The multiple bonus-track versions were only available for a limited time before the album reverted to a regular, standard edition without any bonus tracks. This is the first time all three configurations and six bonus tracks are available at once.
Not too much has changed since we last left blink-182. You might hear the same snap, crackle, and pop that the trio has prided themselves on for almost ten years. There's even the continual cabbage-patch screech of Tom Delonge and support for rampant teen angst. But five albums later, these San Diego natives grab their rosy-cheek punkadelics and add a bit more of a flamboyant, passionate maturation on Take off Your Pants and Jacket. When Enema of the State leaped onto the charts in 1999, the lyrical direction was 90 percent party-boy mentality, leaving little room for traces of a growth spurt. And while we're still feeling the continual back-drip of tracks from Enema, the fresh plethora of tunes from these rambunctious Toys-R-Us rockers have more purpose than ever. With a fight-for-your-right joviality that's often irresistible, songs like "Anthem Part 2" and "Stay Together for the Kids" house a indomitable school-kid voice where a surging vapor of knockout speed chords meet wrecking-ball percussion. The meanings are bucketed and spilled, with lines like "If we're f*cked up/You're to blame" ("Anthem Part 2"). And forget about escaping lyrics such as, "I'll never talk to you again/Unless your dad 'ill suck me off," which stems from the hilarious, almost brilliant 42-second clash called "Happy Holidays, You Bastard." "First Date" and "Roller Coaster" are only a couple of their tunes that act as therapy for post-pubescent dilemma, also present on previous efforts like Enema and Dude Ranch. Each song about the rotten girlfriend or unhip parent speaks loud and often to the 2000 MTV generation. Nevertheless, the dumped-in-the-amusement-park tone and lyrical progression are sharp, if not entertaining. The band's stint on the Vans Warped Tour, with veteran punksters such as Pennywise and Rancid, has become a supreme outlet for blink-182. Take off Your Pants is one of their finest works to date, with almost every track sporting a commanding articulation and new-school punk sounds. They've definitely put a big-time notch in the win column.
Packaging includes the original Take Off Your Pants and Jacket tracks on a single 180 Gram black LP and a Red Plane 7”, Yellow Pants 7” and Green Jacket 7”. All four pieces are housed in a triple panel gatefold with a custom 7” slit on each panel for the 7”. Vinyl LP - Sealed

'Ready To Die' is the band's first studio collection since 2007's 'The Weirdness' and the first album of all-new material featuring Iggy Pop, guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott Asheton since 1973's classic 'Raw Power'. Mike Watt fills in for the late Ron Asheton on bass.
Explaining his decision to make another Iggy And The Stooges album in 2013, Iggy Pop said recently: "My motivation in making any record with the group at this point is no longer personal. It's just a pig-headed fucking thing I have that a real fucking group when they're an older group, they also make fucking records. They don't just go and twiddle around on stage to make a bunch of fucking money..."
Tracks confirmed to appear include 'Burn', 'Job', 'Sex & Money' and the title track 'Ready To Die'. The album was produced by guitarist Williamson at Fantasy Studios in San Francisco, though Iggy Pop recorded his vocals in Miami.
The album was mixed by Ed Cherney, who revealed last month (January): "It's old-time Stooges. It's raw. They're great songs, but not necessarily big choruses. They're the Antichrist of anthems."

 Sempiternal
Bring Me The Horizon
$19.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed

Heralded as one of the most anticipated albums of the year, Bring Me The Horizon’s upcoming fourth studio album, Sempiternal, is the defining sound of heavy music in 2013. Proving to be perpetual favorites among fans, the album’s first single “Shadow Moses” came charging out of the gates after premiering on Zane Lowe’s BBC’s Radio 1, forcing Epitaph to post the song on YouTube a week in advance due to popular demand.
"There's a very euphoric sound coursing through the album, a very uplifting but yet sad sound," says front-man Oliver Sykes. "Electronically, it's far more advanced than anything we've done before."
The five piece, consisting of Oliver Sykes, Lee Malia, Matt Kean, Matt Nicholls and Jordan Fish, recorded Sempiternal over a three month period with super producer Terry Date (Linkin Park, Deftones, Soundgarden). The band also brought in David Bendeth (A Day To Remember, Paramore) to add to the all-star production line-up and mix the album.
"Writing Sempiternal was a completely different process," comments Sykes. "We worked from a computer, laying down ideas and riffs and working on them tirelessly until we had what we wanted." For the first time, Sempiternal sees a new member appearing on the record, Jordan Fish, who takes on keyboard duties on the record as well as during live performances. "Bringing Jordan into the mix changed things completely; he opened up so many more possibilities."
Sykes goes on to say, "The lyrical theme is everything. My head was a lot clearer when writing this time and it allowed me to write from a different perspective. It's the best stuff I've ever written in my opinion. It's very dramatic, quite blunt, and at times sarcastic, but the biggest part of it - is how it is combined with the music to bring the listener vivid imagery and emotion. I think we really managed to pull that off."
Sempiternal is an embracing ride through soaring vocals, supercharged melodies and what can only be described as spine tingling metal anthems. After the critical and commercial success of their previous albums, There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret (2010) and their breakout success Suicide Season (2008), Bring Me The Horizon plan to take heavy music to the next level, incorporating the most dynamic elements of hard music to create the most exhilarating album of the year.

 Love Over Gold
Dire Straits
$26.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
With a new rhythm guitarist in the fold, Dire Straits expands its sound as well as continues its glorious string of studio successes on 1982's Love Over Gold. Per usual, it's Mark Knopfler's crisp guitar playing and warm raspy voice, combined with Alan Clark's gorgeous keyboard runs, makes for a sweeping affair that put the band in position for the commercial breakout Brothers In Arms. Anchored by the 14-minute-plus opener Telegraph Road, and by Knopfler's atmospheric leads and head-turning tonalities, Love Over Gold is a modern classic.
Part of the reason for the bands uniqueness owes to its clean, vibrant sound. Just as Knopflers narratives reflect poetic and surrealist texts, the groups arrangements--an intoxicating combination of easygoing shuffles, bluesy boogies, and pop-honed ballads--mirror the old-fashioned soulfulness and spaciousness inherent in the classic recordings of the late 50s and early 60s. Its no wonder why Dire Straits has long been a favorite of audiophiles the world over. When it comes to sonic purity, transparent soundstages, and rich tonalities, few, if any bands sound better.
And now, thanks to the meticulous efforts of Warner Bros., Dire Straits 1982 LP can be experienced like never before. Remastered and cut from the original analog tapes and pressed on high-quality 180g vinyl, Love Over Gold will bowl you over with its mesmerizing sound and engaging material. Knopflers mesmerizing guitar textures and cool vocals appear as if theyre right in front of you. Details, imaging, and presence are on a level associated with the finest audiophile recordings.
As its proven for the last few years, Warner Bros. treats vinyl with the ultimate respect, and this must-have Dire Straits record is no exception. Listeners with original copies of the LP, or Simply Vinyls pressing, will be absolutely stunned upon hearing the improvements. And the rest of us can simply rejoice in knowing that the band's first-rate creations possess an airiness, openness, and palpability theyve never claimed prior. A five-star pressing!

No Other Complete Session By The Classic Quartet Has Survived
Jazz is largely a collaborative art. Louis Armstrong with the Hot Fives, Basie with the All-American Rhythm Section, Davis with the Original Quintet with Coltrane and Philly Joe Jones-the music has been defined not just by the leader, but also by the caliber of the musicians in his group. For Coltrane the Classic Quartet was the foundation for masterpieces like Sun Ship that reshaped jazz of the sixties and seventies. "It's a funny thing", Tyner noted in a 1978 interview. "The John Coltrane Quartet was actually four elements. We had one guy who led the whole team, but it was really a compounding of personalities, like four personalities contributing."
The Classic Quartet mirrors Coltrane, whose deep roots in the mainstream of jazz supported branches reaching far above his contemporaries. They created a unique sound, an instantly recognizable approach that transcended their standard jazz "combo' format. They were capable of near-telepathic interaction and split-second reactions that freed the music to surpass the predictable. "With John we could come in, he would give us two notes and we could play a whole composition on two notes," Tyner recalled in that interview. "Sometimes he wouldn't bring in a tune, he'd bring in a scale, and we'd play the scale and everything would be right there. We were familiar with each other, the musicianship was high."
"When you're a part of something like that", Tyner went on, "you can't really ascertain how strong it is. We knew that we were doing something different, that it was fresh, timely. We knew that it had come from something that had happened before. At the same time, you're swept up in that force-you're not cognizant of how different it is. When something is good, timely, it has lasting quality." The strength of that force, the depth of that quality, is clearly evident in the Sun Ship session. And these last sessions offer fascinating documentation of the Classic Quartet evolving to keep pace with the growing changes in Coltrane's approach to the music. Only two more Quartet recordings would follow, First Meditations a week later and a single version of "Joy" from September 22.
..."Alternate takes", "previously unissued", "newly discovered"--these phrases are magic for jazz aficionados. Jazz prizes change, creativity and innovation. Its masters rarely play anything the same way twice, and alternate takes--complete or incomplete recordings from a recording session which were not initially selected for release-let us hear music we know well as if performed for the first time.
When the alternate takes belong to an artist of the stature of John Coltrane, the pleasure of rediscovery is that much greater. Nearly a half-century after his death Coltrane continues to influence and inspire jazz musicians and listeners alike. He changed the music like few before him (and perhaps no one since), yet his career was regrettably short-essentially a dozen years. While the output from that career is not inconsiderable, it is obviously finite, making such alternate takes that much more valuable.
Sun Ship, recorded August 26, 1965, captures one of the last sessions by the Classic John Coltrane Quartet (Coltrane, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones). It comes at the culmination of a year in which Coltrane arguably reached his creative peak, a year rich in such masterworks. The Sun Ship album, though, was not issued until 1971, one of several Coltrane albums issued by Impulse Records after his death. And Sun Ship was, like many jazz albums, the product of editing between takes, a process overseen by John's widow Alice.
This Complete Sun Ship Session edition is much more: sourced from newly discovered original reels, the set includes the album's five original compositions, unedited, in sequence of recording, with all of the takes as they evolved, as well as the surrounding conversations. More than just a sampling of a few alternate takes, the Complete Session offers a rare opportunity to eavesdrop on an iconic master at work. - David Wild, liner notes
John Coltrane's "Sun Ship" session was recorded at the RCA Recording studio on 24th Street by engineer Bob Simpson who also did superb work with Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, Albert Ayler and others. The original three-track masters with the tenor sax on one track, the piano and bass on another and the drums on the third track were recently discovered, enabling the complete session to be released for the first time. Kevin Reeves recently remixed the entire session with great sonic results, improving greatly on the original LP mix. Mosaic has remastered them and pressed them on 180-gram vinyl at the renowned Record Technology Inc. plant in Camarillo, California.
This 3 LP set is a Mosaic Records release.

 Prokofiev: Classical Symphony (Speakers Corner)
Sergei Prokofiev
$34.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Thankfully musical genres have been spared from being described with new buzz words such as 'Kleinkunst' which could be translated as 'Small Arts'. But music in small forms – maybe set down on just a few pages of manuscript paper – certainly exists. Prokofiev’s miniature, the "Symphonie classique", combines several superlatives as regards both its musical notes and form: it is only 15 minutes long, contains a wealth of melodic ideas, and is the most performed of all Prokofiev’s symphonies.
This four-movement composition employs traditional forms such as the sonata form in the outer movements and the pre-Classical dances menuet and gavotte. The work’s carefree esprit, serenade-like humour, and courtly elegance is delightful throughout and culminates in a high-spirited 'sturm und drang' Finale.
On the B side is Glinka’s "Kamarinskaya" Fantasia, only eight minutes long but captivating with its extremely closely-knit compositional style, and his Overture to "A Life for the Tsar" – a showpiece whose leitmotifs are truly forward-looking. Alongside these classical-romantic musical gems, Borodin’s "In The Steppes of Central Asia" acts as an ideal programmatic amalgamation of the Orient and the Occident, and fits perfectly into this choice of repertoire.
Recording: February and March 1961 at Victoria Hall, Geneva (Switzerland), by Roy Wallace
Production: Michael Bremner

Vinyl LP Mono - Sealed

Donovan's fourth album, 1967's Mellow Yellow, is a dynamic transitional effort that finds the singer-songwriter-guitarist expanding his artistry into rewarding new areas. In addition to the sing-along title hit, which famously inspired a persistent urban legend regarding the recreational consumption of banana peels, Mellow Yellow encompasses acoustic introspection ("Writer in the Sun"), crafty art-pop ("Museum"), bittersweet insight ("Young Girl Blues"), beat poetry ("The Observation") and a fond nod to British folk icon Bert Jansch ("House of Jansch"). In addition to the production of British Invasion legend Mickie Most, Mellow Yellow features ear-catching arrangements by future Led Zeppelin member John Paul Jones and sitar by cult singer-songwriter Shawn Phillips. With its original mono mix capturing the vibrant vibes of Donovan during this incredibly creative and productive period, this vintage gem has never sounded better!

Frank Fairfield curates another reissue of 78 RPM records - this time with the help of a few of his collector friends. The collection focuses on some of the most seldom acknowledged varieties of Anglo-American vernacular. You'll hear unusual, uncommon instrumentation and great fiddlers from California to Ohio, New Mexico to West Virginia. Once I Was An Eagle

Deluxe 2xLP Gatefold on Heavyweight 180 Gram Vinyl w/ 24” x 24” Foldout
Poster. Comes w/ MP3 download card.
Laura Marling’s new album, Once I Was An Eagle, was recorded in the
English country studio of long-time producer and instrumentalist Ethan
Johns (Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams) and Marling’s lifelong friend Ruth de
Turberville on cello. Not only was the process complete in just ten days, but
Marling’s vocals and acoustic guitars were recorded live in one take—in one
day. To that acoustic skeleton—which will be the sound of her upcoming
solo tour, her first sans band—Marling and Johns then added textured
layers of percussion and instrumentation. It’s a hugely ambitious record that
echoes the themes of previous album A Creature I Don’t Know.
This is Marling’s fourth album and the precocious and preternaturally
talented British singer-songwriter has attained what sounds undeniably like
vocal, emotional, and artistic maturity. It’s a record for the ages. Released at
the age of twenty-three. Her already impressive career has so far included
a 2011 Brit Award (UK Grammy-equivalent) for Best British Female Solo
Artist, two Mercury Music Prize nominations, and an NME Award for Best
Solo Artist.
When Marling began writing the songs that would become Eagle, she’d
been “obsessively” collecting records from the year 1969. She was in the
middle of a U.S. tour to promote A Creature I Don’t Know. She was about to
let go of her band, feeling dislocated on the open road, and searching for
what it meant to be an artist and a woman in the world at an age at which
her contemporaries were still in college. Eagle is a concept album, sort of.
It follows a thread of mythology, lyrically and metaphorically. An eagle and
a dove, the devil, and the sea populate her cast of characters; soundscapes
ebb and flow like an epic plot, or, for that matter, an epic road trip across
the States.

The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is the upcoming fifth studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains. It is expected to be released on May 28 2013, and will be Alice in Chains' second album since their 2005 reunion, following the 2009 release Black Gives Way to Blue.
About the album, guitarist Jerry Cantrell said to Revolver magazine: "I don't think you'll be surprised by anything you hear. ... It's us. But it's also really unique. It's got all the elements of any record we've put out, but it's unlike any record we've put out. Basically, it's the next chapter in the Alice in Chains book, and it's going to be a big one." Cantrell also said to Guitar World: "In my opinion, Black Gives Way to Blue stood up to anything else we've put out in our career. Hopefully, the new album will connect with people in the same way."
The cover artwork features the skull of a Triceratops with a second skull image steganographically hidden on a red background. The two skulls, when revealed, combine to form the image of the Devil. "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" album title refers to a belief held by some religious individuals that to confuse the masses of humanity, Satan himself planted dinosaur bones deep into the Earth to dissuade the faithful.

Some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time have passed through Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers: Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham, Wayne Shorter and Donald Byrd, among many others. However brief their stay, working with the demanding and full-throttle drummer not only increased their visibility, but also their chops and interpretive capacity. Blakey's ability to drum up the best players in the game may have even eclipsed his superhuman ability to play drums.
Altoist Jackie McLean, trumpeter Bill Hardman, bassist Spanky deBrest, and pianist Sam Dockery join the fold here to along with Blakey deliver whole-bop goodness on five propulsive, fiery tracks. True to its title, this LP bops hard, with a ferocious swing, boundless energy and telepathic communication between players - especially Blakey and Hardman. Considering the rhythmic demands of Blakey's locomotive playing style, this was an incredible achievement.
Impex Records has cut this gorgeous, limited edition (2,500 pressings) 180-gram LP with the original analog mono master tapes and without computer processing of any kind. You hear all the vivacious interplay that occurred on that weekend in 1957 when Blakey and crew forged a bold new vision of muscular, funky jazz. This is music that still resonates over 50 years later. Not to be missed!

1. Cranky Spanky
2. Stella By Starlight

Hot Rocks 1964–1971 is the first compilation album of Rolling Stones music released by former manager Allen Klein's ABKCO Records (who gained control of the band's Decca/London material in 1970) after the band's departure from Decca and Klein. Released in late 1971, it proved to be The Rolling Stones' biggest-selling release of their career and an enduring and popular retrospective.
After reportedly having been duped by Klein to unknowingly sign over the recording copyrights to all of their material from 1963 to 1970, The Rolling Stones left Decca and formed their own label, Rolling Stones Records, with a new distributor. They recorded Sticky Fingers throughout 1970, releasing it the following spring. Although Klein—and now ABKCO—no longer had The Rolling Stones as clients, their fruitful catalogue was ripe for the picking and, thus, Hot Rocks 1964–1971 was quickly compiled as a double album greatest hits package.
While the album carries most of the band's biggest hits during their first decade, it does drop a few of them in order to include standout tracks such as "Play With Fire", "Under My Thumb" and "Gimme Shelter" giving listeners a more well-rounded impression of The Rolling Stones' music in this era. Although "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses" are a part of Sticky Fingers, those two songs are co-owned by the band and Allen Klein because The Rolling Stones recorded the songs while they were still under contract to Decca.

 ...Like Clockwork
Queens of the Stone Age
$25.99
Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
The first album in 6 years from JOSHUA HOMME, TROY VAN
LEEUWEN, MICHAEL SHUMAN, DEAN FERTITA, plus...for the recording, the return of Songs For The Deaf members, DAVE GROHL on drums, NICK OLIVERI and MARK LANEGAN
Plus performances by SIR ELTON JOHN, TRENT REZNOR, ALEX TURNER (Arctic Monkeys), JAKE SHEARS (Scissor Sisters)
Recorded by MARK RANKIN (Adele, “Rolling In The Deep”)
For their first album in six years, Joshua Homme’s
mighty Queens Of The Stone Age called back classic
members Dave Grohl and Joey Castillo on drums,
and Nick Oliveri and Mark Lanegan on vocals. In
addition, some big names came in to perform:
Elton John, Trent Reznor, Alex Turner (Arctic
Monkeys), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), James
Lavelle (U.N.K.L.E.) and more. Of course the current
lineup of Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman and
Dean Fertita also feature throughout.
...Like Clockwork contains Homme’s most intense,
personal and beautiful songwriting to date. While
the thunder of Queens past is still evident (especially
in lead single “My God Is The Sun”) there are a
number of gorgeous ballads — meditations on time
passing, the struggle to create art, and the nearness
of mortality.
The music lives up to the album’s lyrical and
conceptual ambitions, with some of Homme’s finest
guitar work to date, at times recalling past greats
such as Brian May or George Harrison, at other times
uniquely his own. The rhythm section starts and
stops on a dime, and in some of the more complex
songs, the ensemble playing is virtuosic - but never
sterile.
The striking album artwork, imagery and intro
animations are by young British artist Boneface,
working closely with Homme.
Track Listing:
1. Keep Your Eyes Peeled
2. I Sat By The Ocean
3. The Vampyre of Time and Memory
4. If I Had A Tail
5. My God Is The Sun
6. Kalopsia
7. Fairweather Friends
8. Smooth Sailing
9. I Appear Missing
10. …Like Clockwork

Iconic thrash metallers Megadeth revealed today the title of their upcoming album due to be released in June 2013. Super Collider was the chosen name for the fourteenth full-length studio album. Megadeth’s Super Collider is the first release through Mustaine’s new label, Tradecraft, to be distributed worldwide by Universal Music Enterprises.
Mustaine said during a break in the sessions: “It was a real thrill for us to learn there was an opportunity to join Universal. It seems like every time you see a great band or music video, it comes from the Universal label. Being with Universal is by far the most exciting and prestigious home for Megadeth ever! We are electrified with what the future holds and the possibilities such a powerhouse like Universal will bring for us all. We have worked with some great people over the years, and it is amazing to see so many of them on the Universal team for our new record, Super Collider. If Megadeth being here isn’t satiating enough, having Tradecraft as my own label is going to be really amazing for metal bands around the world.”
Mustaine added: “Shawn, Chris and David have all been feverishly contributing some great music and I believe we are doing our best work ever together in the studio right now!”

 Okie
J.J. Cale
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed

Cale moves toward country and gospel on some songs here, but since those are two of his primary influences, the movement is slight. And longtime producer Audie Ashworth attempts to place more emphasis on Cale's vocals on some songs by double-tracking them and pushing them up in the mix. But much of this is still low-key and bluesy in what was becoming Cale's patented style.

180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Life Before Insanity is Gov’t Mule’s fifth album, released in 2000 to great critical acclaim. Warren Haynes and Allen Woody formed a power trio with Matt Abts after leaving Southern Rock staple Allman Brothers Band. Precious tracks on this album include the haunting title track, the powerful “Wandering Child”, “No Need To Suffer” and “Lay Your Burden Down” (the latter two are featuring Ben Harper on vocals). The most hit sensitive track proved to be “Bad Little Doggie”, a ZZ-Top like burner, which received lots of airplay. Life Before Insanity was the last album featuring bassist Allen Woody, who tragically died just six months after its release. Finally, it’s released on vinyl for the first time!

Fantastic 180 Gram Purple Vinyl Reissue
Only 1000 Colored Editions Pressed
Hair of the Dog is the sixth studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in 1975. The album was recorded at Escape Studios, Kent, United Kingdom with additional recording and mixing at AIR Studios, London, and is the band's biggest selling album, having sold two million copies worldwide.
After three albums with Deep Purple's Roger Glover producing, Manny Charlton stepped into that position, one he filled for several subsequent albums.
It was Nazareth's first big hit album (aside from the minor success of Razamanaz), including classics such as the title track, "Love Hurts" (on the US version, but not the Canadian/European, it replaced the original "Guilty"), "Beggars Day" and "Please Don't Judas Me".
The album title is often considered to be a shortened form of the phrase describing a folk hangover cure, "the hair of the dog that bit you". However, according to Dan McCafferty, the title is a play on "heir of the dog", i.e. a "son of a bitch". This was the title the band had intended for the album, but the label did not approve and had the name changed, although nearly a thousand album covers were printed. The original "Heir of the Dog" album covers are very rare and worth a small fortune to collectors. The title track is sometimes mistakenly called "Son Of A Bitch" because of its hook ("now you're messin' with a son of a bitch").

180 Gram LP Mastered from the Original Master Tapes
This 1962 Record Marks Rollins' Return After Taking a Voluntary Break to Refine His Playing
How badly did Sonny Rollins want to refine his playing? The saxophonist shocked the world in 1959 and took a break, returning in 1962 with this splendiferous set, named after the Williamsburg Bridge, where he practiced by himself. He’s paired here with guitarist Jim Hall, whose communicative lines, along with Rollins’ esteemed solos and melancholy patterns, gives The Bridge lofty status. The quartet tackles both originals and standards such as Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child" and Cole Porter's "You Do Something to Me," turning up aces every time.
Mastered from the original master tapes, ORG Music's 180 gram LP presents this Bluebird/RCA classic in the finest analog sound it's ever known. Everything from each of Rollins' dip-and-dive patterns to the patter of Ben Riley's drums is heard with extreme detail and range.

2. Where Are You?
3. John S.

 Empire
Grmln
$14.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Empire is GRMLN’s album for the cruis’n world: Upbeat rock ‘n’ roll with the feel of ‘90s pop-punk. The new tracks are much more rock-driven than Explore’s gentle, dreamy tunes. Wanting to capture the sound of a live band, Yoodoo Park—the born-in-Japan Southern Californian behind GRMLN—recorded the album with his brother Tae San Park on bass and friend Keith Frerichs on drums. Album standout “Hand Pistol” is a catchy mix of polished-up Superchunk and poppier Jimmy Eat World. There’s “Cheer Up” with its ‘50s-style chord progression and climactic, fiery plea of “Don’t break down!” Empire’s quietest number is the closer “Dear Fear,” an acoustic strummer about the damage time can do. The record’s energy and brevity translated to a concise recording process. The nine songs (all but two are under three minutes) were recorded and mixed in a span of five days at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco with Patrick Brown and Sean Paulson (Toro Y Moi’s Anything In Return).
Lyrically, Empire is a look into 20-year-old Yoodoo’s head as he deals with growing up and how that complicates relationships. “I see the world going by without me/ it’s just the way that I’m moving back to you,” he sings on “Blue Lagoon.” Yoodoo notes that while writing the album he matured out of a phase of naïveté, consequently becoming disillusioned with love.
The album was mostly written the months preceding and during Yoodoo’s sophomore year at the University of California Santa Cruz. When the fall semester began, Yoodoo would either write in between classes or just ditch the day’s lessons all together in pursuit of a song.
Track Listing:
1. Teenage Rhythm
2. Blue Lagoon
3. Hand Pistol
4. Coastal Love
5. Do You Know How It Feels?
6. Summer Days
7. 1993
8. Cheer Up
9. Dear Fear

After John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderly left the 'quintet', Miles Davis was forced to search for new qualified musicians. He found them in Hank Mobley, Wynton Kelly, Jimmy Cobb and Paul Chambers. In 1961, just two years after recording Kind Of Blue, Miles and his new line up started recording energetically and finished Someday My Prince Will Come after only three days.

Chet Baker

Includes Bonus Track!
Every musician has his area of expertise and for Chet Baker that area was the ballad. Therefore, this album dedicated entirely to ballads, gives listeners a chance to hear Baker doing what he does bestand when Chet Baker does what he does best, he does it better than any other trumpet player in the history of jazz. For this session, recorded on 30 December 1958 at NYCs Reeves Sound Studios, the poster child of West Coast cool jazz (who had just turned 29) assembled a superlative East Coast sextet that featured the unusual front-line combination of flute (Herbie Mann), trumpet (Baker) and baritone (Pepper Adams), departing occasionally from this format, however, to showcase the guitar playing of Kenny Burrell. Pianist Bill Evans, Philly Joe Jones (drums), Paul Chambers (bass), all well-known for their association with Miles Davis, and all some of the top names in jazz are also featured here, along with drummer Connie Kay of the Modern Jazz Quartet. This album represents some of the last studio work Baker did before emigrating permanently to Europe. It also includes one of Bakers own compositions, Early Morning Mood, recorded at the same studio and with the same line-up on 19 January 1959, as a bonus track.

 A Different Time
John Medeski
$19.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP -Sealed
|
Keyboard master John Medeski thrives on the unpredictable, a trait that has kept his work with the trailblazing
trio Medeski Martin & Wood (MMW) fresh and surprising for more than twenty years. With A Different Time, his
first solo piano project, Medeski once again takes his sound in a completely unexpected direction. The first release
on Sony Classical’s newly revived OKeh Records imprint, A Different Time is a more introspective, meditative
collection than fans of MMW’s lively, groove-driven music might expect. Consisting mainly of his own compositions
and improvisations, A Different Timepresents a different side of Medeski’s prodigious artistry.“I had a more eclectic
record in mind,” says Medeski. “I wanted to put out something that would be more representative of what my live
solo concerts are like.
The whole point is to get lost in the music.”
John Medeski began his studies at the New England Conservatory as a classical performance major but quickly
realized he was more interested in composition than in performance. After years as a jazz sideman, he formed
Medeski Martin & Wood with fellow jazz musicians Chris Wood and Billy Martin. Renowned for their extraordinary
hybrid of jazz, funk and hip-hop, MMW have been performing together for the last two decades. As a producer,
Medeski has helmed projects for Chris Wood’s band, The Wood Brothers, and has also worked with the Campbell
Brothers and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. He’s also made his mark as a film composer for Audrey the Trainwreck,
William Vincent, and the celebrated Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There. Most recently, Medeski collaborated with
music giants Vernon Reid, Jack Bruce and Cindy Blackman - Santana to form the band Spectrum Road, and has
worked with renowned saxophonist James Carter and legendary guitarist John Scofield.

2002/03 WAS AN AMAZING TIME for Chicago tenor saxophone legend Von Freeman. He celebrated his 80th birthday with a concert at Chicago Symphony Center, was honored with a Doctorate of Fine Arts by Northwestern University, was chosen one of the “200 Artists Who Made A Difference In the Last 20 Years” by Jazziz and had Chicago’s 75th Street named after him (“Von Freeman Way”). The Great Divide represents
the peak of Freeman’s recorded output for Premonition.
A tribute record to jazz giants Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins and Charlie Parker, all of whom Freeman knew and/or worked with, the album received fulsome praise from the jazz and music press and led directly to the singular achievement of Freeman’s career when he was recognized as a 2012 NEA Jazzmaster. This LP version leaves off several tracks that appeared on the CD but is careful to preserve the direct “tributes” as outlined by Freeman in the extensive liner notes. An incredible album, from an important artist, on LP for the first time.

 Fulfillingness' First Finale
Stevie Wonder

Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Fourth in Wonder's Five-Album Series of "Classic Period" Records
1974 Masterpiece Won Three Grammy Awards, Including Album of the Year
Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI: LP Bursts With Color, Tonality, Texture, and Openness
Wonder Probes Romantic Feelings and Features Jackson 5 and Other Soul Icons as Guests
Boogie on! Warm, personal, stripped-down, and mainly playful: Stevie Wonders Fulfillingness First Finale primarily finds the legendary vocalist tracing the arcs of relationships on a spirited record that has gone down in history as one of the most cohesive, fully realized soul sets ever made. The fourth in Wonders five-album series of classic period creations, the 1974 landmark won three major Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal, and Best Male Rhythm and Blues Performance.
Indeed, theres not one note out of place on the extraordinary ten-song set, notable for the way in which Wonder uses sparer arrangements to his advantage. Not that the overall tone is bleak or angry. Coming off of 1973s socially biting Innervisions, Wonder intentionally returns to love-related fare here, investigating a surfeit of emotions involved with romance and passion. As had become his trademark, he handles a bulk of the songwriting, production, and performance chores but gets help from a few choice friends.
Appearances by singers Minnie Riperton, Paul Anka, Deniece Williams, and the Jackson 5 lend extra weight and breadth to the harmonies. Iconic Motown bassist James Jamerson and guitarist Sneaky Pete Kleinow lend instrumental support, but, as expected, Wonder is the center of his own universe. He nails the feelings of being in love, falling in it, realizing when its gone away, and wondering how to properly express it. Fulfillingness First Finale also benefits from Wonders continuing forays into social consciousness. The number-one smash You Havent Done Nothin toasted the Nixon administration in classic style and bookends his previous topical cuts such as Living for the City.
Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys world-renowned mastering system and pressed at RTI (America's best record plant), this numbered limited edition LP of Wonders seminal creation bursts with color, tonality, texture, and openness. Deep electronic grooves, lively percussion, gospel-sent backing vocals, and involving bass notes pour out like cleansing rain. Above all, Wonders mellifluous vocals soar, taking on an intimate quality rarely heard on any soul or pop record.

 Walkin' This Road By Myself
Lightnin' Hopkins
$12.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Walkin' This Road By Myself was originally released in 1962.
Hopkins' style emanated from playing most of his life unaccompanied at his own insistence. His fingerstyle picking of playing alternating and monotonic bass, rhythm, lead, and percussion all the while improvising lyrics, even 'talking' his lyrics. He incorporated creative, chromatic turnarounds and single note lead lines. Tapping or slapping the body of his guitar adding his own percussive effects. While most of his songs are standard 12-bar blues, his phrasing was loose and free.
"Hopkins is the embodiment of the jazz-and-poetry spirit, representing its ancient form in the single creator whose words and music are one act." - Robert "Mack" McCormick, Lightnin's producer in the '50s and Smithsonian musicologist
"One of the great country blues and perhaps the greatest single influence on rock guitar players." - New York Times, January 31, 1982

 KAB SpeedStrobe
KAB Electro-Acoustics
$109.95
SpeedStrobe
|
The KAB SpeedStrobe was designed to replace and improve upon older strobe designs that relied on power line frequency. We also wanted something that was easier to use and included the ability to actually measure small amounts of error. Not just a go - no - go - test.
The KAB SpeedStrobe features a quartz locked illuminator with 99.99% accuracy. And since it is battery operated, it works everywhere. No need for 50 or 60 Hz versions. The Disc is silk screen printed on durable 20 mil PVC.
Instead of hypnotic bars, the KAB SpeedStrobe features the actual speed numbers. In use, the desired speed is read directly from the disc. no searching for the right band. Covers 16.66, 33.33, 45, 70.59 - 90 RPM. By timing the drift of the display over one minute, accuracy can be measured to 0.03%
Many Hi End turntables today still use hysteresis synchronous motors which rely on the line frequency to achieve accurate rotation. Using a conventional strobe to measure these turntables reveals a flaw: If the line frequency is low, the turntable will run slow, but so will the fluorescent light used to illuminate the strobe disc. Result: the strobe may show the correct speed, even though it is wrong! There is a definite need for an independent quartz crystal controlled illuminator.
The KAB SpeedStrobe is fully independent thereby eliminating major sources of error. And the large disc is very easy to read.
The really great features to take note of with the KAB SpeedStrobe is the ease of use and absolute accuracy.
The KAB SpeedStrobe is unique in 2 ways. First, it does not rely on line frequency like other strobe discs. We have heard our share of stories that confirm what we have always suspected: line frequency variations are common. And if your turntable uses a hysteresis synchronous type motor, it will be susceptible to speed variations.
Second, conventional strobe discs use a series of hypnotic bars that "freeze" in motion when the turntable is at the correct speed. Thats fine for a turntable that can adjust its speed. But have you ever tried to time those marks so you can measure accuracy? It is nearly impossible. The KAB SpeedStrobe disc uses large easy to read numbers. It is very easy to time the drift of this display. This lets you measure fixed speed turntables and determine their accuracy.

KAB Super Record Grip - Push On Record Clamp
KAB Electro-Acoustics
$38.00
Record Clamp
|
The newly redesigned KAB super record grip was designed to replace and improve upon the PIG clamp originally supplied with the Revolver brand turntables. This new design features a 2 piece precision molded frame, spring rubber insert and UHMW polyethylene non marring contact surface. This is especially useful on Rega brand turntables and others where there is very little spindle to grab on to.
The KAB Super Record Grip reduces resonance and acoustic vibration of the record itself, freeing the stylus to do its intended job of tracing the groove. The result is better focus and detail to the soundstage.
The Super record grip attaches quickly; by turning with slight pressure, it "walks" down the spindle and meets the record surface.
Note: For easier use, the center hole can be lubricated with a diluted solution of 5% Armor All® and alcohol, swabbed with Qtip®.
The built-in bubble level shows turntable level at a glance to within 1 degree of accuracy.
Spring reinforced rubber insert holds onto the turntable spindle firmly.
The built in bubble level allows a quick check of turntable level. A level turntable balances the forces of the needle in the groove.
When the needle is resting in the record groove, the entire record surface behaves as a microphone picking up vibrations from the air and the turntable below. Damping the record surface reduces the affect of these "added vibrations" to the needle's already difficult job of reading the groove.
The really great features to take note of with the KAB super record grip is the ease of use and cost effectiveness.
The super record grip represents great value. Yet it is quite good at what it does and even has the added benefit of showing level at a glance, each time you use it. Keeping with the KAB philosophy that more is better, but it needn't cost more!
One issue to be sensitive to is turntables with light floating spring suspensions. You will have to push down some while applying the super record grip. It does not rely on weight. (It only weighs 2 Oz) Be sure your turntable can "Bottom Out" safely. If this is a concern, consult your turntable maker first.
[In our opinion, if you can "bottom out" safely, the super grip is a better solution still over clamps that rely on weight, since they will change the operating height of your platter.]

 Mind Control
Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats
$32.99
Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Mind Control (their third full-length album) is set for release in April 2013, following their two debut London sell-out concerts at The Garage. Within it's blood soaked grooves you will hear shocking tales of bizarre desert ceremonies, religious brainwashing and drug inspired mass slaughter!
Imagine the original Alice Cooper band jamming in a cell with early Black Sabbath and the Stooges, whilst sitting on murder charges and you may get a glimpse into their fuzzed up world of exploding tube amps and cymbal smashing mayhem. However, this enticing act of musical manipulation is merely the icing upon a very sick cake. Mind Control is a concept album with a theme that makes the acts and intentions of the likes of Charles Manson and Jim Jones seem like petty crimes. What makes Mind Control scarier than most albums is that it doesnt seem as sinister on the surface as it really is deep down within the core of its black acid-drenched world of pain and torture.
The infectious energy surges and pulverizing grooves of Mind Crawler, tell the tale of a man on a mission who has fled from Mount Abraxas after mercilessly murdering all the members of his cult. He rides his motorcycle through the gates of hell and hijacks the weak minds of yet more foolish disciples to join him in his desert hideaway. This is when the real fun and terror truly commences...
There was no escaping the chained-to-the brain hooks and melodies of first single from the album, Poison Apple, but this was merely a trailer for the real hellish delights now to be bestowed upon the earth. Recorded at the legendary Chapel Studios over an autumnal full moon using the finest western electrical technology, engineer Jim Spencer (Bert Jansch, Robert Wyatt) has perfectly captured the bands live sound of saturated fuzz, mind-bending riffs and 60's vocal harmonies. A wider range of influences can be heard from both music and cinema, but their founding principle of presenting light and darkness still remains. Simple and ragged in all its low life glory, Mind Control is the ultimate expose of killer cult madness and mind manipulation.
Track Listing:
1. Mt. Abraxas
2. Mind Crawler
3. Poison Apple
4. Desert Ceremony
5. Evil Love
6. Death Valley Blues
7. Follow the Leader
8. Valley of the Dolls
9. Devils Work

 Over-Nite Sensation
Frank Zappa
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Mastered from the Original Analog Master Tapes at Bernie Grundman Mastering by Chris Bellman
Love it or hate it, Over-Nite Sensation was a watershed album for Frank Zappa, the point where his post-'60s aesthetic was truly established; it became his second gold album, and most of these songs became staples of his live shows for years to come. Whereas the Flo and Eddie years were dominated by rambling, off-color comedy routines, Over-Nite Sensation tightened up the song structures and tucked sexual and social humor into melodic, technically accomplished heavy guitar rock with jazzy chord changes and funky rhythms; meanwhile, Zappa's growling new post-accident voice takes over the storytelling. While the music is some of Zappa's most accessible, the apparent callousness and/or stunning sexual explicitness of "Camarillo Brillo," "Dirty Love," and especially "Dinah-Moe Humm" leave him on shaky aesthetic ground.
Zappa often protested that the charges of misogyny leveled at such material missed out on the implicit satire of male stupidity, and also confirmed intellectuals' self-conscious reticence about indulging in dumb fun; however, the glee in his voice as he spins his adolescent fantasies can undermine his point. Indeed, that enjoyment, also evident in the silly wordplay, suggests that Zappa is throwing his juvenile crassness in the face of critical expectation, asserting his right to follow his muse even if it leads him into blatant stupidity (ironic or otherwise). One can read this motif into the absurd shaggy-dog story of a dental floss rancher in "Montana," the album's indisputable highlight, which features amazing, uncredited vocal backing from Tina Turner and the Ikettes. As with much of Zappa's best '70s and '80s material, Over-Nite Sensation could be perceived as ideologically problematic (if you haven't got the constitution for FZ's humor), but musically, it's terrific. -Steve Huey
