 Armed Forces
Elvis Costello
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Largely written on tour in hotel rooms and on the bus, Elvis Costello’s Armed Forces takes personal politics to a new level. A supremely melodic and hook-laden record, the 1979 set is a showcase of scintillating keyboard lines, sharp guitar work, and the most cohesive arrangements of Costello and the Attractions’ career. In every way, this is a pop masterpiece, defined by hits such as “Accidents Will Happen,” “Oliver’s Army,” and the anthemic “What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace Love and Understanding?” You need this record.
While less musically intense than the preceding This Year’s Model, Armed Forces doesn’t let up in the lyric department. Costello’s narratives are loaded with paranoia, irony, bitterness, and scathing humor. Originally titled Emotional Fascism, the singer’s third consecutive masterpiece is inspired by billboard sign slogans, insular observations, and social behavior that Costello found applicable to his own situation. “Oliver’s Army,” “Green Shirt,” and “Senior Service” address systemic governmental control. “Big Boys,” “Two Little Hitlers,” and “Accidents Will Happen” also concern control and betrayal—but that of the interpersonal nature.
Given the luxury of six weeks in the studio, Costello and the Attractions responded with spacious arrangements and a few extra touches and instrumental colors that add to the songs’ charm. Steve Nieve employs a monophonic Minimoog keyboard and pianos patterned after Abba’s sweet pop; whispers are exaggerated into black comedy shouts on “Goon Squad”; layered and echoed vocals provide the illusion of several Costello voices on multiple tracks. The band is of a piece, constantly in harmony and on the same page.
Half-speed mastered from the original tapes, Mobile Fidelity’s numbered limited-edition 180-gram LP presents the vibrant dynamics of Armed Forces’ timeless pop songs in the highest possible fidelity. This album has never sounded so full, rich, airy, spacious, detailed, or necessary. The textures and voicings of Nieve’s keyboards are alone worth the investment. This pressing will have you dancing in the aisles and analyzing Costello’s brilliant turns of phrase for years to come.

Remastered
In 1996 Alice In Chains performed their first show in three years for MTV Unplugged. Unfortunately, it also turned out to be one of the last ones they would ever do, as lead singer Layne Staley's drug addiction was already getting the better of him. Visibly frail, he – and band members Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and Sean Kinney – still out-performed many of the other acts that crept in front of MTV's camera, making this one of the most legendary performances of the series. The band perform songs from both Facelift and Dirt albums as well as their critically acclaimed E.P. Jar Of Flies, creating new and exciting arrangements for their heavier songs while reinventing others. The tension and excitement in the audience is palpable throughout the entire show, and it makes this a fantastic record of the greatness of Alice In Chains.

 At The Sands
Frank Sinatra
$39.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed

Numbered Limited Edition
Sinatra's 1966 Live Album With Count Basie and Quincy Jones as Good as Music, Performance, and Chemistry Get
Half-Speed Mastered from the Original 4-Track Master Tapes for Breathtaking Sound
Audiophiles Will Be in the Copa Room With Sinatra Standing in Front of Them
Frank Sinatra. Count Basie. Quincy Jones. Las Vegas. Combinations and circumstances don’t get any better. And by every measure, Sinatra at the Sands is as good as music gets. Comprised of live material recorded at five nights in early 1966 at the famed Copa Room, Ol’ Blue Eyes’ 22-song album stands as one of his pinnacle achievements, the results a blend of superb chemistry, sparkling arrangements, infallible singing, and contagious energy. As part of its continuing series of essential Sinatra recordings, Mobile Fidelity is proud to offer the record in the most definitive-sounding edition available. Listeners will be transported to a table close to the stage, with the image of a tuxedo-clad Sinatra unfolding right in front of them.
By 1966, Sinatra had conquered the world. His tenure as a teen idol and maturing crooner behind him, he was confident, assured, focused, and quite simply, untouchable. Music’s top arrangers and composers came to him, knowing the magic that he’d bring to their labors of love. It’s for these reasons that Count Basie and his orchestra backs Sinatra here, and why Jones, in demand by everyone, chooses instead to lend his arrangement insights onstage at the Sands. Indeed, Sinatra at the Sands harkens back to the day’s when concerts were a true event, and the album is nothing short that promise. This is a happening you won’t want to miss.
Containing many of Sinatra’s most well-known and celebrated performances--“I’ve Got a Crush on You,” “Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words),” “Luck Be a Lady” among them--Sinatra at the Sands finds the entertainer in immaculate voice. He improvises lines with effortless and ease, casually adorns lyrics with hidden rhythms, stretches notes to instill meaning and emotion, and utilizes his impeccable knack for phrasing to turn a line and beget instrumental responses that complement each song’s mood. Meanwhile, Basie and Co. swing on uptempo numbers and lay back on melancholy tunes that still bring a tear to the eye.
Warner Bros. executive Stan Cornyn, writing about these very shows, observed that, doing more than sing, “Sinatra turns actor. The man whose broad’s left him with some other guy and all of the loot…And there is silence about, for this audience is watching a man become that last lucked-out guy at the bar, the last one, with no where to go but sympathy city.” And so it goes, Sinatra proving it’s the singer and the song, demonstrating a seemingly unlimited range as he transports you to saloons, romantic parks, lonely streets, and bustling cities. Everything—the pacing, structure, passion, interpretation—is perfect.
Mobile Fidelity has half-speed mastered this exquisite analog set from the original four-track master tapes, originally recorded by engineer Lowell Frank. Clear, big, and sumptuous, Sinatra at the Sands now resonates with previously unheard details, transparency, imaging, projection, smoothness, and dimensionality. Capturing a human voice remains the most difficult recording task. Suffice it to say that this 2LP set will join the ranks of the very best recordings you own.

 Bossanova
The Pixies
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Limited Edition
Original Analog Masters Located After 18 Years and Used for Remaster
Half-Speed Mastering Yields Unprecedented Sound
Also Available on Limited Edition MoFi Hybrid SACD!
The opening instrumental to Bossanova makes it clear that the Pixies weren’t about to take the same crazed approach on their major-label debut as they did on their initial standout efforts, 1987's Surfer Rosa and 1989's Doolittle, also available from Mobile Fidelity on 180g LP. More straightforward, linear, fluid, subtle, and dreamy, Bossanova finds the band exploring pop structures, dropping psychedelic accents, and satisfying surf-rock urges. While it often verges off-the-beaten path, particularly for mainstream tastes circa 1990, the set is the most accessible and hook-ridden record the Pixies ever made.
Black Francis’ surreal narratives and breathy delivery flavor tunes like “Is She Weird,” “Velouria,” and “The Happening,” all of which sonically and/or lyrically tie into themes of aliens and sex. Macabre fixations and noisy outbursts take a backseat to tunefulness, putting a spotlight on Joey Santiago’s underrated guitar work and Kim Deal’s complementary back-up vocals. Recognizing the changes, producer Gil Norton bestowed Bossanova with spacious dynamics and wide-open arrangements that allow the music to breathe.
The analog masters for Bossanova had been missing for 18 years before finally being located in 2008 in the WEA tape archives in Los Angeles. This release marks the first time that the original ½-inch analog master tapes have been used since Bossanova was originally released in August 1990. Be assured that this is the very finest version of Bossanova you will ever hear. At long last, the staggering dimensions of the Pixies’ canyon-wide soundscapes and three-dimensional atmospherics of their nuanced vocals are faithfully reproduced.
An essential document of one of the 20th century’s most vital bands, these numbered limited edition copies will sell out.

 I'm Having Fun Now
Jenny And Johnny
$21.99
Vinyl LP + CD - Sealed
|
Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice have been collaborating on and off for years, each contributing to the other's solo records and live shows, but with this record they had a different intention: using their two voices in close harmony and playing practically every instrument themselves. The result is an eleven song thirty-five minute blast of whip-smart rock and roll.
During hours of downtime on her Acid Tongue world tour, Jenny and Johnathan began writing a batch of songs different from anything they had previously created. During a 9 day demo session in LA in October ‘09, helmed by Rilo Kiley's Pierre De Reeder, Jenny and Johnny played as many instruments as possible, right down to the drums, bringing in Jason Boesel for additional embellishments. The four friends worked lightening fast, had a hell of a lot of fun, and were so happy with the results that Lewis and Rice decided to start a brand new band and finish the record. In late December the two songwriters packed up a station wagon and drove from Los Angeles to Omaha, Nebraska to work with their friend, Mike Mogis.
Jenny and Johnny hunkered down in Mogis' world-class ARC studios for five weeks of tracking, vocals, and mixing during the worst Midwestern winter since the 1860's. The front door of their guesthouse actually froze shut, so they used an alternate route to get to the studio every day. Cut off from the outside world in a blizzard's haze, the record's personality began to emerge. Gone were the vintage, classic-rock textures of their previous two albums, and in came a tougher, rougher sound.
There's an exuberance in love songs like "Scissor Runner" that mask some of the record's darkness, while Lewis chronicles the economic demise of her beloved California in "Big Wave." Listeners will relish Rice's haunting vocal on "Animal" and both songwriters raising a middle-finger kiss off in the acerbic "My Pet Snakes." This is not a Rilo Kiley record, a Jenny Lewis record, or a Johnathan Rice record. This is Jenny And Johnny. They're having fun now, and they want you to, too.

5. While Men Are Dreaming

 We Walk This Road
Robert Randolph And The Family Band
$26.99
Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett, We Walk This Road continues the sacred steel tradition for which Robert Randolph has earned wide praise, including the New York Times, which applauds "his rip-roaring virtuosity and his gift for making his instrument sing without a word."
Throughout the recording of We Walk This Road, Randolph and Burnett worked closely together as archivists, discovering songs-decade by decade-from the 20th century American music canon. The songs they uncovered, ranging from blues and rock to field recordings and gospel, serve as the inspiration for the 11 songs on We Walk This Road. Recorded at the Village Recorders and Electro Magnetic Studio, the album includes "If I Had My Way" (featuring Ben Harper), "Salvation" (featuring Leon Russell), and reinterpretations of Prince's "Walk Don't Walk," Bob Dylan's "Shot Of Love," (featuring Jim Keltner, who played drums on the original version) and John Lennon's "I Don't Wanna Be A Soldier Mama" (featuring Doyle Bramhall II).
Of the album, Randolph says "T Bone and I drew a lot from the past while we were making this record, but I think it really is a record for these times. I think the fact that I, as a young guy who likes hip-hop and gospel, am reaching back into this rich history of American roots music will appeal to people who are fifteen, and people who are seventy-five years old. T Bone opened my eyes to great archival music. He's a link between the past and the present."

Jimmie Vaughan Plays Blues, Ballads & Favorites
Jimmie Vaughan
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
The legendary Texan guitar-slinger returns with his first solo outing in nearly 9 years, a collection of mostly covers on which Jimmy and cohorts capture the authentic studio sound of the late 50s when most of the tracks were first cut.
Recorded with local musicians in Austin, this double album is self-produced. Lou Ann Barton guests on several tracks.
Jimmie hand picked the covers originally made famous by the likes of Little Richard, Jimmy Reed, Roy Milton, Willie Nelson, Doug Sahm and more.
When Jimmie Vaughan says “I have the best job in the world,” he isn’t kidding. For more than four decades, the guitar-slinging Texan legend has been earning his living rockin’ the blues, and nothing makes the man happier. But now, Vaughan is even more excited about his gig than usual—for his newest release he’s consulted the vast blues encyclopedia that resides deep inside of his head and come up with a nearly all-covers set best described by its unambiguous title: Blues, Ballads & Favorites.
Self-produced and recorded in Vaughan’s hometown of Austin, the newest offering by the co-founder of the iconic, still-missed Fabulous Thunderbirds spotlights a wild array of tunes originally recorded by the likes of Roy Milton, Jimmy Reed, Roscoe Gordon and Little Richard, with a Willie Nelson favourite tossed in. No particular criteria were used in selecting the tracks to include; Vaughan simply narrowed down a long list of songs he liked and Blues, Ballads and Favorites was the ultimate result.
Recorded with a solid group of mostly local musicians, with longtime cohort Lou Ann Barton lending her vocals to a handful of tunes, Blues, Ballads & Favorites is Vaughan’s first new release in nearly nine years. “I got married and had twins, and a lot of things happened in between,” he says, but as soon as the music emits its mighty roar, it’s clear that nothing has dulled Jimmie Vaughan’s mastery of his axe or his powerful vocal delivery. “I’m just about to turn 59 years old and I’m having a good time,” he says. “I’ve got my second wind here.”

Recovery, the much-anticipated new album from Eminem, features an exciting list of collaborators, including DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da, Dr. Dre and Havoc. The album comes on the heels of his 2009 release, Relapse which put the cap on an impressive ten years of recorded output, and contributed to him being the biggest selling artist of the last decade. It also earned Eminem his 11th Grammy award, winning in the Best Rap Album category.
"I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year. But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title." - Eminem

 Interpol
Interpol
$17.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
The long-awaited fourth album from New York’s Interpol finds them exploring dark musical landscapes of layered depth and intensity. In contrast to 2007’s Our Love To Admire, this self-titled opus hangs together as an album, a set of very different songs that thematically connect. From the highly melodic “Barricade” and “Lights” through the snarling “Memory Serves” and the extraordinary triptych of connected tracks that close the album, Interpol have never made work so emotionally resonant and packed with crescendos before. Mixer Alan Moulder has brought the rhythm section back to the fore, anchoring a thicket of orchestral sound that brings to mind touchstones from black metal to ‘70s art rock, but always remains identifiably Interpol. Hypnotic, bizarre, always indelible, Interpol is the band’s magnum opus.

Hear Dylan's Most Definitive Albums As They Were Meant to be Experienced: In Mono
Includes Deluxe Booklet + Rare Photos and Greil Marcus Essay
Bob Dylan’s first eight groundbreaking albums are returning for the first time ever in a limited edition box set of newly re-mastered mono versions on fully analog 180-gram vinyl.
The Original Mono Recordings are comprised of these albums painstakingly reproduced from their first generation monaural mixes as the artist intended them to be heard: One channel of powerful sound, both direct and immediate. While stereo recordings had been available as early as the mid-1950s, mono was still the predominant – and often preferred – mode of recording and mixing by the top artists of the 1960s. As a result, artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan devoted their attention to the mono mixes, leaving the stereo mixing process to studio engineers.
As is fitting for a box of this magnitude, The Original Mono Recordings are accompanied by a deluxe booklet, featuring vintage photographs of Bob Dylan and an expansive essay from renowned author and critic – and longtime Dylan aficionado – Greil Marcus. Each disc in the set comes in its own individual jacket which faithfully replicates the original album artwork, complete with labels and stickers that were found on the original 1960s releases.
Cut from the original analog mono masters by the legendary George Marino at Sterling Sound, we guarantee this is the best you will ever hear Dylan sound. This set is simply unprecedented--some of the most important and timeless music ever made, now in jaw-dropping sound that rivals what was heard in the studio control room. Don't miss this!
Also includes a limited edition 18" x 24" Bob Dylan poster.

Rodgers & Hart Songbook Volume 1
Ella Fitzgerald
$59.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl 45 RPM LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Numbered limited edition! Only 2500 copies made!
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers and Hart Songbook is a 1956 album by the American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, with a studio orchestra conducted and arranged by Buddy Bregman, focusing on the songs written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.
It's something most everyone has experienced: whether at one of the great jazz festivals in Berlin, Montreux or Paris, or in a small, provincial jazz club which exudes the charm of a dingy jazz cavern in the Fifties - you sit, listen, and then rack your brain to remember the name of the number which the young jazz musician is playing with all his heart. Just what was the name? Put the Ella Sings The Rodgers And Hart Songbook album on your turntable and you're guaranteed to recall "The Lady Is A Tramp," "Spring Is Here" and "It Never Entered My Mind." All these and many more excellent ballads flowed out of the pens of the songwriting team. But don't make the mistake of associating merely scat singing taken at a cracking pace with the most famous and the BEST jazz vocalist between 1930 and 1995. This album more than demonstrates Ella Fitzgerald's excellent powers of expression and her brilliant modulations.
Track Listing:
1. Have You Met Miss Jones?
2. You Took Advantage Of Me
3. A Ship Without A Sail
4. This Can't Be Love
5. The Lady Is A Tramp
6. Manhattan
7. Johnny One Note
8. I Wish I Were In Love Again

Limited Edition
Dylan's Formative Demos That He Used to Net a Record Deal
47 Original Recordings, Including 15 PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED Dylan Compositions
Features Deluxe Booklet With Revelatory Photos and Insightful Essay and Notes
Another Must-Have Installment in the Phenomenal Bootleg Series
Bob Dylan's The Witmark Demos are seeing their first commercial release on 180-gram 4LP vinyl nearly five decades after they were first recorded. Listening to these 47 original recordings, one can trace Dylan’s dramatic growth as a songwriter from early traditionally-styled songs like “Man On The Street” and “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Willie” through the social commentary of “Blowin’ In The Wind, “The Times They Are A Changin’” and “Masters Of War,” and the groundbreaking lyrical genius of “Mr. Tambourine Man.” All of these songs, and all the others on The Witmark Demos, were written – and their subsequent demos recorded – before Dylan turned 24 years old.
Among the many gems found on The Witmark Demos are 15 previously unreleased Dylan songs which include the plaintive “Ballad For A Friend,” the civil rights era-inspired “Long Ago, Far Away” and “The Death Of Emmett Till,” and the poignant “Guess I’m Doing Fine.”
The Witmark Demos also features a deluxe booklet featuring in-depth liner notes by noted music historian Colin Escott, as well as rare photographs of Bob Dylan captured during the same period as these early recordings. Absolutely essential!

'Once' is a 2006 Irish musical film written and directed by John Carney, former bassist for Irish band The Frames. Set in Dublin, this naturalistic drama stars musicians Glen Hansard (singer of, again, popular rock band The Frames) and Markéta Irglová as struggling musicians during an eventful week as they write, rehearse and record songs that reveal their unique love story. Collaborators prior to making the film, Hansard and Irglová composed and performed all of the original songs in the movie.
Hansard and Irglová's song 'Falling Slowly' received a 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the soundtrack as a whole also received a Grammy nomination.
Steven Spielberg was quoted as saying "A little movie called 'Once' gave me enough inspiration to last the rest of the year". When informed of Spielberg's comments, director John Carney told Sky News, "in the end of the day, he's just a guy with a beard"

The Screaming Trees are considered to be one of the Godfathers of Grunge.
Although they were one of the best 'Seattle-bands' of the early nineties, they never achieved the commercial success of bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. Founded in 1985, the band had to wait till 1992 for their biggest success, the release of Sweet Oblivion. The song 'Nearly Lost you' became the Screaming Trees' biggest hit after being featured on the soundtrack of the movie Singles.
Lead singer Mark Lanegan started a very successful solo career after the Screaming Trees, working with the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Greg Dulli (Afghan Wigs), Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian) en UNKLE.
Being out of print for years, this 90's milestone will be finally available again!

And The Other Great Delta Blues Singers
Son House
$29.99
Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed

This 24-track collection of historic Delta blues recordings kick off with Son House’s earliest recorded material. These 7 tracks were recorded by House for Paramount in Grafton, WI in 1930 and are keystone recordings in the history of American music. The remaining 17 tracks on this album are a chance for listeners to hear some lesser known Delta bluesmen, all contemporaries of Son House. While these men are perhaps not quite the genius that House was—with perhaps the exception of Willie Brown who often played with House (just check out “Future Blues” if you need convincing)—these lesser known artists are still all top drawer Delta bluesmen that add welcome context to the genre.

Youth And Young Manhood (Bonus Track)
Kings Of Leon

Remastered
Youth and Young Manhood was Kings of Leon's debut album, released in August 2003. The title was taken from a drawing of the family tree of Moses, found on the inside of one of their Pentecostal preaching father's Bibles. According to the band, each branch contained a line that could have passed for an album title. Youth and Young Manhood, however, seemed fitting and was quickly agreed upon by all members.
The album was recorded between Sound City Studios, California (where Nirvana's 'Nevermind' and Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' were recorded) and Shangri-La Studio in Malibu.
Many critics appreciated the band's punk and garage rock-influenced revival of the southern rock genre with UK's NME hailing the album among the best debuts of the last 10 years. Allmusic claimed the album contained some greasy licks that sure sound good. Village Voice called the album 2003's finest rock debut. Rolling Stone declared that the band knew when to lay back and let things simmer as well as when to jump up and testify with tambourines banging in a favorable review. A promising debut, which led the way for steady growth, musically and commercially in later years.
Originally released on limited double-10vinyl, this 180 grams audiophile 2LP includes the formerly CD-only bonus track 'Talihina Sky'!

So much has been said and written about Miles Davis’ “Kind Of Blue”, it’s virtually impossible to summarize all the
necessary info to the length of this note. We could simply list some facts (best sold Jazz album ever worldwide). We
could try to explain why it’s the best jazz album ever made, but the music itself will do that to you. As Bill Evans said
in the original liner notes for the record, the band did not play through any of these pieces prior to recording. Miles
Davis laid out the themes before the tape rolled and the band improvised.
The end results were fragile and wondrous. Recorded during 2 sessions in 1959, “Kind of Blue” worked on many
different levels and will do so for many years to come.
We´re proud to announce a very special version of the most influential (jazz)album ever. We present the orginal
album in remastered form plus an extra LP containing 2 tracks that weren’t available on vinyl before (an alternate
take of ‘Flamenco Sketches ‘ and a version of ‘On Green Dolphin Street’ recorded prior to the Kind of Blue sessions,
with the legendary line-up of Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb).
We present a limited number of the album on classy blue 180 grams vinyl (3000 numbered copies).
Also, we´ve graced this first-time ever 2LP edition of this musical masterpiece with a gatefold sleeve with additional
liner notes.

 Broken Boy Soldiers

180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed

Copper-embossed, gatefold tip-on jackets from Stoughton
“Broken Boy Soldiers” is the debut album from the Raconteurs. By pairing pop songsmith Brendan Benson with hard-rocking Jack White (the White Stripes) and backing them with the crack rhythm section of Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler (both of the Greenhornes) what resulted is a completely kick-ass album. From the anthemic volley of “Steady, As She Goes” to the sing-songy crunch of “Hands” and the downright sinister slow creep of “Blue Veins” this album covers the complete range of human emotion.
“Broken Boy Soldiers” is the first proper vinyl reissue from Third Man (both the V2 and XL versions of this LP are out-of-print) with plans to tackle the rest of the White Stripes and Jack White back catalog already in the works. Third Man aims for these reissues to be the definitive, go-to versions of all their titles and this issue of “Broken Boy Soldiers” definitely earns that distinction.

By the time this LP was recorded in 1959 Lightnin' Hopkins was already a star, but hoping to catch Hopkins in a more informal and relaxed setting, American folklorist Mack McCormick travelled to Texas with just a mono tape recorder. Despite, or perhaps because of, the lack of professional equipment, McCormick manages to capture Hopkins in rare form. The listener has the impression that Hopkins is just hanging out on his front porch with a few friends, playing the blues. It was through his contact with McCormick that Hopkins was presented to rock & roll / blues revival audiences, playing Carnegie Hall with Joan Baez and Pete Seeger in 1960.

Krieger was also voted in at #91 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time and in 2009, he released his very own signature guitar, the ‘Inspired By Krieger SG’ from Gibson. In his pre-The Doors youth, he absorbed the playing styles of folk, blues and jazz with a special love for flamenco. 1996 Multi-Platinum Set Expands Band's Metal Parameters and Includes Amazing Country-Rock, Balladic Currents
Cut from Original Masters by Chris Bell and Pressed at Pallas: Total Audiophile Quality!
Deluxe Packaging Features Stoughton Box, 6-Panel Folder, and Individual Jackets
Released five years after Metallica's famous Black album, Load remains proof that the legendary Bay Area band was capable of much more than thrash signatures and charged metal. Coming at a time when hard rock was in the process of reorganizing, the 1996 set led the way and announced to the world that Metallica wasn't content to rest on its laurels.
By slowing down the tempos, decreasing the aggression, and upping the depth of its grooves, the quartet channels its English and Southern rock influences in spectacular fashion. Load mines the shorter, blues-oriented approaches pioneered by Led Zeppelin, Cream, Lynryd Skynyrd, and Deep Purple, expanding on these classic parameters by retaining some of the ferocious bite Metallica injected into its formative early works.
Having sold more than five million copies in the U.S. alone and topped the Billboard album charts for four consecutive weeks, the album confirmed that Metallica's evolution happened without any inherent loss to its basic appeal. Guitarist Kirk Hammett is allowed more room to explore tonalities, and rhythms serve the songs in concise fashion, making the record Metallica's purest rock effort. Ain't My Bitch, King Nothing,Hero of the Day, and Until It Sleeps all received considerable airplay and remain concert and radio staples to this day.
Now, fans can finally hear Load in supreme fidelity. Receiving the same audiophile treatment afforded the group's first five records, Warner Bros.' deluxe limited edition LP box set of Load has been cut from the original masters by Chris Bell, pressed on 180g LP at Pallas in Germany, and spread out over four discs of 45RPM vinyl for the ultimate sonic experience. Housed in a box printed at Stoughton and featuring four single-pocket jackets with a six-panel folder, this stands as the sweetest Metallica package yet! Book with lyrics & Poster
Despite his untimely death, the man managed to squeeze in a lot in his 27 short years on this earth, enough to earn him the title of “King of the Delta Blues”. Pretty impressive, given the competition! Johnson's style has influenced everyone from Muddy Waters to Eric Clapton and he is widely considered to be one of the greatest guitar players to have ever lived! A widely reported legend of Johnson selling his soul to the Devil in order to gain prowess on the guitar seems likely given the talent the man possessed. This triple LP box set chronicles his short but legendary career, featuring everything Johnson ever recorded, including the many songs that made him famous and have long since become blues standards. Absolutely essential in any collection!

 A Love Supreme
John Coltrane
$16.99 $15.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
This album is pure and raw Jazz. Every song demonstrates Coltrane's prowess on the sax. In one word this album is 'emotion.' Coltrane seems to poor his whole heart into this project. All the players are in peak performance mode and it shows as each take their turn demonstrating their talents. On the track titled Resolution McCoy Tyner struts his stuff on the piano, and Coltrane makes his sax literally cry. I would consider this one of the greatest Jazz albums of all time.
Historically speaking, this was one of only two albums that Coltrane recorded all year in 1964. Coltrane's other album that year was titled Crescent. Love Supreme was awarded gold status by 1970 and I can see why, it is a great album.
The beginning of Pursuance/Part 4 - Psalm is a drum set that is wonderful and then Coltrane comes screaming into the song with a wonderful brassy sax sound. This is followed by Tyner who is all over the keys of the piano. This last track is pure and raw emotional jazz.
This album could hold a slot next to Miles Davis' work titled Kind of Blue. The album is dedicated to God, whom Coltrane says in the inserts, is the Love Supreme. If you don't have this album then you are missing one of the greatest Jazz album's ever recorded. Get it and see why all the reviews below rave on about this masterpiece.
Track Listing:
Part 1 - Acknowledgement
Part 2 - Resolution
Part 3 - Pursuance

 Exile On Main Street
Rolling Stones
$34.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Upon its original 1972 release more than three decades ago, Exile on Main Street innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. The 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richards' mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal 'Main Street' influenced the album title. These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album's outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the socio-political turbulence that marked the late `60s and early `70s.
The Stones nixed the influences of a flower-child era and directed their creative process with the edgier, excessive, more is more approach of the `70s. Exile reveals a sprawling mix of genres with undertones of blues, country, R&B and gospel mixed with lyrics that fervently demand for release and liberation.
The album pulled together an electric array of talent including Dr. John, the late Billy Preston, and pianist Nicky Hopkins. Guitarist Mick Taylor, who replaced Brian Jones in the band shortly before Jones died in 1969, is a magnificent blues player who brought an intensity and elegance to these epic tracks. At times, these musicians and others lived on the recording studio premises with the band creating an extremely open and creative collaboration for the album.

Kicking The Television: Live In Chicago (Box Set)
Wilco
$74.99 $64.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 4 LPs Box Set Sealed

Recorded over four nights in May at The Vic Theatre in Chicago, we finally get a live Wilco album. 'It's really the best it's ever felt,' said Jeff Tweedy, 'I would say at this point, I don't think I've ever been in a band that's felt this connected and unified with this collective vision.' To document that collective vision that band called upon veteran mixing engineer Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews, Johnny Cash) to capture the energy, excitement, clarity and musicality that has earned Wilco continued praise for their live shows around the world. Bolstered by experimental guitarist Nels Cline and multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, Wilco can now move effortlessly from soaring rock anthems like 'Shot in the Arm' to dynamic dazzlers like 'Hummingbird' and 'Muzzle of Bees.' There is a welcoming delicacy that adds beauty to Jeff Tweedy's songs and the late-night ballads. One of America's greatest bands has never sounded better.

‘JAR OF FLIES’ was released in January 1994 and shows a side of the band that was unknown until then:
predominately acoustic songs and the use of instruments like the harmonica and a talk-box.
This highly collectable double vinyl set is limited to only 2000 copies and includes a green and an

'No-one ever listens to me anyway, I might as well be a Leonard Cohen record', Neil once said during an episode of the notorious 'Young Ones'. This has changed dramatically. Cohen's 'Hallelujah' has reached the charts several times performed by various vocalists. Massive sold out concerts and well-known artists like Lou Reed, Bono, Nick Cave, Antony and Rufus Wainwright paying homage resulted in a huge re-appreciation which led to a whole new generation getting in touch with Cohen's impressive repertoire. This album is the perfect anthology of this legend's career.

 Discwasher D4 Vinyl Record Cleaner
$21.99 $19.99
|
A favorite among collectors for many years. Use the brush dry or wet with the included 1.25 oz. fluid. The more active, yet safe, D4+ fluid is actually able to lift and suspend contaminants in solution on the record surface so the D4 pad can easily and efficiently remove debris.
The D4+ Record Care System is the result of intensive scientific research on safe record cleaning. The D4+ System is a cleaning system unlike other products, which reduce record dynamics and fidelity. The more active, yet safe, D4+ fluid is actually able to lift and suspend contaminants in solution on the record surface so the D4 pad can easily and efficiently remove debris. Containing less residue than tap water, D4+ fluid will clean without depositing new residues on the record surface; it will not encourage any biological growth as do constantly damp cleaning methods.
For longer life, Discwasher recommends that records be lightly cleaned each time before playing. New records should also be cleaned before their first play. Although presumed clean, many new recordings still have mold release compounds in their grooves, thus requiring cleaning.
HAND CRAFTED
The handle of the Discwasher D4+ Record Care System has been hand crafted and finished from solid American walnut, creating elegance for an already superior cleaner.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ROUTINE PRE-PLAY CLEANING
Application
Apply 3-6 drops of the D4+ fluid in a line on the leading edge of the pad (the arrow on the end of the handle points to the leading edge). Distribute the fluid along the leading edge of the pad using several deliberate strokes with the bottom of the D4 bottle, causing the pad to form a strip of damp fabric.
Position
Position the disc washer handle/pad with the arrow end on the outside edge of the record. Gently contact the record with the damp leading edge of the pad. The turntable motor may be assisted by gently turning the record with you finger on the label.
Clean/Dry
Allow the damp leading edge to contact the record for about three revolutions. Dry the record with a simple rolling movement of the handle, allowing for the middle and back edge to contact the album for several revolutions, assuring thorough drying.
D4+ Record Care System.
- Simply the finest record cleaner available.
- Cleans records while retaining fidelity.
- 1.25 fl. oz. D4 recording cleaning fluid.
- D4 pad with solid walnut handle, and convenient storage case.

 Tribal
Dr. John
$27.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
The follow-Up to 2008 Grammy-Winner The City That Care Forgot. Includes Contributions from Derek Trucks, Allen Toussaint and the Late Bobby Charles.
Tribal finds Dr John at the pinnacle of his creative powers, making what might be the most complete statement of his 50 year musical career.
Recorded with his band “The Lower 911,” Tribal also includes some of the down ‘n’ dirtiest tracks he has recorded since 1968’s iconic Gris Gris.
The European version contains two extra tracks not available elsewhere.
Full press and marketing campaign to support this release.
Replete with swamp rock, funk, Creole voodoo, and Mardi Gras Indian chants, ‘Tribal’ resurrects the magical persona of “The Night Tripper” in his full regalia. At the same time, Dr John displays the rippling piano licks, Cajun-fried humor and sharp political observation that have helped make him a national spokesman for post-Katrina New Orleans.
From its opening statement, “Feel Good Music,” Dr. John sets the tone: “Feel good music, doctorate your bones… Call me doc, your medicine man / I got a cure in the palm of my hand…” The title cut, “Tribal,” featuring an actual Mardi Gras Indian chief, invoking the spirit of the tribes with references to their solidarity and the sacred healing powers of music.
As always, Dr. John has a little help from his friends: NOLA legend Allen Toussaint contributes two songs; and three songs were co-written with the late, great Bobby Charles, a Louisiana legend himself, to whom Dr. John dedicates the album. Other guest stars include slide guitar phenomenom Derek Trucks and jazz great Donald Harrison on alto sax.
The Lower 911 is: Herman "Roscoe" Ernest III - drums, percussion, vocals; David Barard - bass, vocals; John Fohl - guitar, vocals; Kenneth "Afro" Williams – percussion. The album was produced by Herman “Roscoe” Ernest III and Dr. John in New Orleans.

Gov't Mule is a southern rock jam band formed in 1994 as an Allman Brothers Band side project by Warren Haynes and Allen Woody. Deja Voodoo was released in 2004. This album is the first real band-album after Woody's passing away and the first to include keyboardist Danny Louis and bassist Andy Hess. It is comprised completely of songs which had never been performed live. When asked to describe the album at that time, Haynes said "It sounds like Gov't Mule, but it doesn't sound like anything we've already done. It has the same muscle and the same influences and character. But the fact is that it's a new band interpreting."
The title is a reference to the fact that the band believes it rocks just like it used to before the death of former bassist Allen Woody.

Stunning 180 gram limited edition.
The album was recorded live over several German and Japanese dates in late 1976 during the Rising world tour. Many of the tracks were spliced together from different dates by producer Martin Birch, and the running order was changed to more easily fit four sides of vinyl. The recording features the customary introduction to a Rainbow show - the classic quote from the The Wizard of Oz, "Toto: I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow!" with the last word repeated as an echo, then the actual band plays a musical phrase from the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow before breaking into Kill the King.

Stunning 180 GRAM 1000 only limited edition gatefold clear vinyl reissue.
Difficult to Cure is the fifth album released by Rainbow, in 1981, and marked a further commercialisation of the band's sound. In an interview in Sounds (July 25th 1981), a UK music paper, Blackmore openly stated his liking for Foreigner and erstwhile vocalist Ronnie James Dio has referred to this period of Rainbow as "Foreigner Junior". The album material was started with Graham Bonnet still in the band, getting as far as recording I Surrender. Turner was recruited and sang over backings already completed. In a 1982 interview with British Rock magazine Kerrang! Turner stated that, because of this, he was singing in higher keys than he would do normally (and would do subsequently).

 Tin Can Trust
Los Lobos
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Los Lobos return with Tin Can Trust, a typically unique and brilliantly accomplished album of Mexican-influenced rock, country and blues recorded in East L.A. during the spring of 2010.
The songs on Tin Can Trust were all recorded together by the full band in the studio, giving the album a cohesive, live feel and capturing the vibrant essence that has made Los Lobos so popular over the years.
Most of the tracks were written by Louie Perez and David Hidalgo, but again, the shared input of the whole band resulted in a united sound that ties the album together; Yo Canto and Mujer Ingrata were written by Cesar Rosas, and All My Bridges Burning was co-written by Rosas and the Grateful Dead’s Robert Hunter. The Dead’s West L.A. Fadeaway is a band favourite, and after playing it live over time, the band felt it was the right time to put it down on tape.
Los Lobos, the Grammy-winning East L.A. band, announces the release of their brand new studio album, Tin Can Trust, and it is the first collection of new original material in four years. The venerable quintet once again redefines itself and expands its scope, while never losing sight of where they come from. And, like so much of Los Lobos' previous work, Tin Can Trust is an album that speaks to the time and place in which it was conceived; the album's title can be traced back more than a century, but for the band, it's apt for the rickety state in which so many of us find ourselves and our world today.
The 11 tracks on Tin Can Trust offer the perfect balance of Los Lobos' parts: the band's lineup has remained uninterrupted since 1984, when saxophonist/keyboardist Steve Berlin joined original members Louie Pérez (guitar, drums, vocals), David Hidalgo (guitar, violin, accordion, percussion, vocals), Cesar Rosas (guitar, vocals) and Conrad Lozano (bass, vocals), each of whom had been there since the beginning in 1973.

 Electric Dirt
Levon Helm
$24.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Electric Dirt is the second album in the last two years from American musical treasure Levon Helm. Its predecessor, Dirt Farmer, his first solo LP in a quarter century, followed Levon's near-miraculous recovery from throat cancer, and as such represented a new lease on life for the legendary artist, who rose to prominence as the drummer and vocalist for Levon and the Hawks, which later became The Band. The 11 tracks feature the same core crew of Midnight Ramble regulars that played on Dirt Farmer and subsequently hit the road: Helm behind the drum kit, Ollabelle's Byron Isaacs on bass, Brian Mitchell on keyboards, Campbell on various guitars, fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer and harmony vocals. Backing vocalists Amy Helm of Ollabelle, Levon's daughter, and Teresa Williams, Campbell's wife, deepen the album's "next of kin" vibe. The horn section of the Levon Helm Band appears on four tracks. Two of the tracks were arranged by the legendary Allen Toussaint with the LHB horns and the other two tracks by trumpet-playing band member Steve Bernstein.
