It was the landmark record Disraeli Gears that turned Cream into the greatest super group of all time, and the one against which all others would be compared to after. The album's masterful blend of psychedelic blues and strong pop songwriting sensibilities awarded the timeless classics "Tales of Brave Ulysses," "SWLABR," "Strange Brew" and "Sunshine of Your Love." Def Leppard’s Hysteria, the follow-up to their 1983 smash album Pyromania, is not only the band’s best-selling album, it's a true ’80s classic . Released in 1987, Hysteria has sold over 16 million copies worldwide. Over a two year period, the album spawned six international smash hit singles: “Animal” (#19 US / #6 UK), “Hysteria” (#10 US / #26 UK), “Pour Some Sugar On Me” (#2 US / #18 UK), “Love Bites” (#1 US / #11 UK), “Armageddon It” (#3 US / #20 UK) and “Rocket” (#12 US / #15 UK).
Produced by the legendary Mutt Lange and completed after nearly three years of preparation and studio work, Hysteria was a milestone album, expanding the boundaries of the rock album. It was, without doubt, the most technically advanced and best written rock album of its age.

Following on one of the most well received 16 minutes of music in recent history (2006's A Lesson In Crime EP), Ontario's favorite sons Tokyo Police Club confirm the completion and release of their first full length album, Elephant Shell, on Saddle Creek in North America and Memphis Industries in the UK. Tokyo Police Club was formed in 2004 by David Monks (vocals, bass), Josh Hook (guitar), Graham Wright (keyboards) and Greg Alsop (drums) during their senior year in high school. Within two years they had released the aforementioned debut EP, immediately eliciting rave reviews. Since then, TPC has been touring virtually non-stop, pausing only to release last year's Smith EP and digital-only single "Your English Is Good" / "Swedes In Stockholm," and of course to record the highly anticipated Elephant Shell. All I Intended To Be Emmylou Harris $24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
Includes Bonus CD!
On her third Nonesuch disc, Emmylou Harris assembles an extraordinary cast of veteran musicians and fellow singers, all of them longtime friends, for a set that indeed showcases this Nashville icon, and 2008 CMA Hall of Fame inductee, as all she has intended to be, a singularly expressive vocalist, a brilliant interpreter of other people’s songs and a graceful and confident songwriter. In particular, the album displays Harris’s ability to bring new life to songs that may have been overlooked, forgotten or lost along the way. Some of the most affecting material here may be the least well-known, though not for long: John Wesley Routh’s celtic/country “Shores Of White Sands” and trucker-poet Michael Germino’s heartrending story-song, “Broken Man’s Lament.” Harris has chosen these songs with conceptual care. Like much of the gently uplifting All I Intended To Be, the stories may be bittersweet, the characters may be downtrodden, but somehow a sense of redemption always vanquishes regret.
The shared history of all the artists involved deepens the feeling of hard-won wisdom that informs All I Intended To Be. Producer Brian Ahern was behind the boards for such early Harris classics as Elite Hotel, Pieces of the Sky and Blue Kentucky Girl. The players and guest stars are not only a veritable who’s-who from the worlds of country, bluegrass and folk, but they have each intersected with Harris throughout her four-decade career as a recording artist. They include Dolly Parton, singers Pam Rose and Maryann Kennedy, dobro player (and longtime Seldom Scene member) Mike Auldredge, keyboardists Glenn D. Hardin (of Harris’s Hot Band and Elvis Presley’s legendary TCB combo) and Bill Payne (of Little Feat). Two songs; the June Carter tribute, “How She Could Sing The Wildwood Flower” and the breathtakingly beautiful “Sailing Round the Room,” were co-written by and performed with Kate and Anna McGarrigle. Singer-songwriter Karen Brooks, whose own eighties-era version of “Shores of White Sands” was the inspiration and thematic jumping-off point for this entire album, contributes backing vocals throughout; Randy Sharp, Brooks’ singing partner, did the vocal arranging. (Harris won a 2005 Best Country Vocal Performance Grammy for her rendition of Sharp’s “The Connection.”)
Harris’s own songs, like the heartache ballad “Gold” and the elegiac “Not Enough,” blend seamlessly with work by Patty Griffin (“Moon Song”), Merle Haggard (“Kern River”) and Billy Joe Shaver (“Old Five and Dimers,” from which the album title is taken). Harris revives what is arguably Tracy Chapman’s most eloquent song, “Fast Car” notwithstanding, “All That You Have Is Your Soul,” a cautionary tale with a simple but profound prayer of a chorus. Displaying the maturity, elegance and ease that distinguished All The Road Running, her best-selling 2006 collaboration with Mark Knopfler, All That I Intended To Be is everything a listener and fan could hope for.

Back To The Country Johnny Shines & Snooky Pryor $20.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
In the early 1950's, Snooky Pryor and Johnny Shines recorded sides for the J.O.B. label that helped lay the groundwork for Chicago's electrified, small band blues. Reunited four decades later in the Texas hill country, they took the opposite approach with a set of acoustic, country blues that returned them to their roots in the Mississippi delta. Robert Johnson, the proud, tormented genius of Delta blues, is the spirit hovering over Back To The Country. In the forty years since Snooky and Johnny first recorded together, blues has undergone unlikely transformations, growing first into popular music, then disappearing almost entirely, before being revived several times. Back To The Country remains as close as you're likely to get to the source, the Delta. Released by Blind Pig in 1991, the recording went on to win the Living Blues "Country Blues Record Of the Year" award among many other accolades. Now availabe here on 180g Vinyl.

The Lost Tracks of Danzig Danzig $35.99
Limited Edition 180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
The Lost Tracks of Danzig is a veritable goldmine for the casual or frenetic Danzig devotee. The collection is comprised of two-dozen-plus previously unreleased tracks spanning the band's entire career that were recorded during the seven-album arc that begain with 1983's Danzig. The Lost Tracks of Danzig is all about the gems that were recorded, but never released, during the Danzig I-VII sessions. When Glenn Danzig began the project, the songs were in various stages of completion, some were still in demo form, some had no vocals, some needed a different mix, a new bass or guitar track, or some other type of tweaking. After tracking down and reviewing the original tapes, Glenn entered the studio and completed the tracks, handling the vocals and finishing all the instrumental recording himself.
The two-dozen-plus songs on The Lost Tracks of Danzig are presented in chronological order: two of the first cuts are "Pain Like An Animal" and "When Death Had No Name," both songs that have their roots in late Samhain, but evolved into two of the very first Danzig tracks that were intended for the band's self-titled debut. Fans will also find a song entitled "Angels of the Seventh Dawn," originally recorded for the 1990 album Danzig II: Lucifuge, "Crawl Across Your Killing Floor," considered for Danzig 6: Satan's Child and the controversial "White Devil Rise," which was recorded for 1994's Danzig 4p and is Glenn's conjecture as to what would happen if Louis Faracon incited the passive white race to rise up against and start a race war with the Black Islamic movement.
Danzig also liked to include cover songs on their albums, so Lost Tracks will feature T-Rex's "Buick Mackane" (1992's Danzig III: How the God's Kill), David Bowie's "Cat People" (Danzig 7) and "Caught In My Eye" by The Germs (Danzig 6). One of the collection's true treasures is a sparse acoustic version of "Come to Silver," a song that Glenn originally wrote for Johnny Cash (who reportedly loved it), then recorded it with Jerry Cantrell for 1996's Danzig 5: Blackacidevil.
The Lost Tracks of Danzig also contains a special 10-page booklet with a forward personally written by Glenn Danzig, anecdotes for each track and plenty of vintage photos. Available here on 180g Vinyl!

Cosmo’s Factory - the name drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford gave CCR’s rehearsal studio because so many hits were created there - lived up to its namesake in spades. Released in July 1970, the album contained more hit singles (six) than any other CCR LP, achieved multi-platinum status and became the band’s all-time best-selling album both in the U.S. and worldwide (69 weeks on the Billboard charts). In addition, the trailblazing extended version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (which Rolling Stone pronounced "more intense than any six minutes of Grateful Dead music on record") was never released as a single during the group’s heyday but received enormous AM and FM airplay, boosting both the song and the LP to No. 1 on all three trade music charts. That track along with "Lookin’ Out My Back Door" and "Run Through The Jungle" are cut at 45 RPM here.

"I’ll Take You There" (Side 1)
A beautiful and now instantly-recognizable call-and-response chorus that scored a smash Number One hit on the Billboard charts of 1972. The backing instrumentation is simple with almost no changes. Atop that rock-solid foundation, we’re taken "there" with, "I know a place/Ain't nobody crying/Ain't nobody worried/Ain't no smiling faces/Lying to the races/Help me (backing vocals: "I'll take you there)."
"Respect Yourself" (Side 2)
The Staple Singers' 1972 hit that rose to Number Two on the Billboard charts, and, along with "I'll Take You There," affirmed this Chicago group as stars of the soul and pop worlds. The song begins with a blues-tinged electric piano introduction and then builds to a crescendo full of inspiration. Pops Staples begins the lyrics with, "If you disrespect anyone that you're running to/How in the world do you think anybody's supposed to respect you/If you don't give a heck about the man with the Bible in his hand/Just get out the way and let the gentleman do his thing." Pops' daughter Mavis, an absolute vocal giant, then takes over the vocals with, "If you're walking 'round thinking that the world owes you something 'cause you're here/You're going out the world backwards like you did when you first come here/You curse around women but you don't even know their name/Then you’re dumb enough to think it'll make you a big ol' man."
Analogue Productions introduced test pressings from their Stax Records reissue at the June 2003 Home Entertainment Expo in San Francisco. Among the exhibitors to show off their wares using these yet-to-be-released 45s was Richard Vandersteen of Vandersteen Audio.
"It was a big hit. The visitors packed the room every time we put it on. For once at one of these shows, there was some music that people wanted to hear. I mean, famous, classic music sounding incredible. It's just great old music that sounds much better than it ever had before. The people just loved it, and we loved playing it." - Richard Vandersteen, Vandersteen Audio

BT s brand new album is a Southern gothic rock n' roll masterpiece with 19 songs adding up to over 75 minutes of pure rock n roll. The band continues its notorious 3-guitar attack with the promotion of longtime sidekick John Neff to full member. Patterson Hood contributes 9 songs to the album (The Righteous Path, Daddy Needs A Drink), 7 songs from Mike Cooley (A Ghost To Most, Lisa's Birthday) and 3 songs from Shonna Tucker (The Purgatory Line). This it the first time Shonna has written the songs for a DBT album. All this is enhanced with musical contributions from he legendary Spooner Oldham.
As Patterson Hood says about the songs on the album, Stylistically, they run the gamut from old-timey sounding country to a heavy R&B influence. Some songs that are quieter than any we've ever recorded and some that rock harder than anything we've ever done. In the end it's still all Rock and Roll (which is why that will always be the description of choice to us when describing our music in stylistic terms).

Settin' The Pace John Coltrane $49.99
45 RPM 180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
Coltrane does not do the old Dexter Gordon/Leo Parker duet number, “Settin’ the Pace,” in this set. The overall title merely refers to his preeminence in the jazz world at the time the recording was released in the early Sixties. Recorded in 1958, this session comes from a time when Trane had already played in the Miles Davis quintet and the Thelonious Monk quartet and was frequenting Rudy Van Gelder’s New Jersey studio in recording situations backed by the Red Garland Trio. This threesome — Garland, Paul Chambers and Arthur Taylor — was a Prestige entity on its own, but had already released such albums with Coltrane as Traneing In and Soultrane. Settin’ The Pace, with its heady combination of seldom-done pop material and Jackie McLean’s intriguing “Little Melonae,” continued the excellent quartet series at a time when Trane was making jazz history at the head of yet another powerful foursome.

Hits From Shaft Isaac Hayes $19.99
45 RPM 180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
Three remastered hits, cut at 45 on 180-gram vinyl.
"Theme From Shaft" (Side 1)
The undisputed anthem for what would be called Blaxploitation, "Theme From Shaft" is as popular and well-known as the movie it supported. The song opens with the ever-recognizable wah-wah, funked-up guitar chords, and we're quickly treated to Isaac Hayes' soul-drenched lyrics convincing ANYONE that this guy Shaft is one "bad mother…shut your mouth." The song oozes with the cool confidence that made the character Shaft one of the relative first Black film heroes.
"Theme From Shaft" earned Hayes his only Number One pop single in late 1971, winning an Oscar for Best Song, and helping him become the first Black composer to win an Oscar for Best Score.
"Soulsville" (Side 1)
Another one of Isaac Hayes' biggest hits, "Soulsville" provides the contrast of a down-tempo ballad outlining the plight of life in the ghetto. It's an emotional tale of poverty, drugs, desperation and faith.
"Do Your Thing" (Side 2)
Pure funk. This nearly 20-minute jam demonstrates just how potent the Stax houseband, The Bar-Kays, could be. They establish a groove in which you can comfortably loose yourself. After "Theme From Shaft," this was the most popular hit from the Shaft movie soundtrack. It climbed to Number Three on the Billboard chart, a remarkable feat for such a long, mostly-instrumental song.
Analogue Productions introduced test pressings from their Stax Records reissue at the June 2003 Home Entertainment Expo in San Francisco. Among the exhibitors to show off their wares using these yet-to-be-released 45s was Richard Vandersteen of Vandersteen Audio.
With the release of this extraordinary debut album in July 1968, Creedence Clearwater Revival was launched upon a career that little more than a year later would lead to enormous worldwide popularity. The four-man group from San Francisco’s East Bay had worked 10 years as a bar band and recorded several singles on the Scorpio label (under the forgettable name Golliwogs), but it was with this Fantasy release that CCR caught fire. Lead singer/guitarist/writer John Fogerty emerges as a fine lyric shouter with "I Put A Spell On You" and "Suzie Qu," a brilliant extended rendition of the Dale Hawkins classic that quickly became a Top Ten Hit.
So popular was CCR worldwide that by 1970 the group was consistently scoring hits on both the A and B sides of its singles, a feat previously accomplished only by Elvis Presley and the Beatles. This release from November 1969 proved no exception, containing "Fortunate Son" and "Down On The Corner," the latter becoming one of CCR’s biggest hits to date. Fogerty’s fine gritty voice and his tight vocal overdubbing are standouts, along with his excellent renditions of "Cotton Fields" and "Midnight Special." All of those hits plus "It Came Out Of The Sky" and "Don’t Look Now (It Ain’t You Or Me)" are cut here at 45 RPM. Stunning sound.

Beck's forthcoming new album and 10th overall, Modern Guilt was co-produced by the always-in-demand Danger Mouse and it's full of off-kilter rhythms and left-field breakdowns, with an overall 1960s British vibe and vocals that float over the music as if Beck is singing in the next room. The 10-tune set, roughly 30 minutes in length features the epic, "Chemtrails," a genre-bending tour de force that showcases Beck and Danger Mouse's shared affection for late '60s psych-pop as well as a guest appearance by Cat Power on "Walls." As is always the case with a new Beck record, he keeps things musically interesting and fresh while constantly challenging any and all categorization.

Singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega attracted considerable critical acclaim on this, her self-titled debut album. The 10 tracks on this extremely personal recording invited comparisons to Joni Mitchell, but Vega's vocal style is often more reminiscent of Janis Ian and her keen observations on love and relationships struck a chord with a generation of women looking for a new emotional persepective. Vega's sharp acoustic guitar style and the excellent musical accompaniment here make this an engaging and impressive debut.

Disco Volante Mr. Bungle $16.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
One of the most uncompromising and adventurous major label releases of the ‘90s, Mr. Bungle’s second album, originally released in 1995, is an 'alternative' record only in the vaguest sense of the word. Incorporating death metal, free jazz, experimental electronica, and ambient soundtracks, along with Mike Patton’s outrageous vocal style, Disco Volante is probably the most important and groundbreaking release of Patton’s storied career, and that’s saying a lot. Think Faith No More, John Zorn, Frank Zappa and Ennio Morricone rolled into one.

180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
Release Date: July 2008
De La Soul’s second album, originally released in 1991, was initially received poorly by the press and their fans due to its immediate rejection of the “daisy-age” image created by their debut LP. In the years since, however, it has come to be accepted as a stone classic that may even surpass the feel-good jams of Three Feet High And Rising with its expansive scope and more diverse subject matter such as drug addiction, incest, poseurs, in addition to the more expected, light-hearted material. Prince Paul’s production is, again, nothing short of brilliant and De La Soul brings the flow that has made them, rightfully, hip-hop legends.

Fairport Convention's second album What We Did On Our Holidays finds the band positioned between the American-influenced rock of their debut and the pioneering British folk-rock that would follow. Liege & Lief, released in 1969, is the fourth electric folk album released by Fairport Convention and it helped establish British folk-rock as a distinct and influential genre. Avoiding the cover material found on their earlier releases, the album consists of electrified versions of traditional English folk songs and the first of a long line of instrumental medleys of folk dance tunes driven by Dave Swarbrick's violin playing. Richard Thompson's original compositions, "Farewell, Farewell" and "Crazy Man Michael," are both bittersweet songs of love and leaving which were inspired by an auto accident that had taken the lives of drummer Martin Lamble and Thompson's girlfriend. Liege & Lief remains a seminal example of the power of excellent storytelling and musicianship.

The packaging on all three titles has been restored and expanded, with new liner notes for each record, previously unseen photos and full lyrics.
U2's sophomore release, October was where it all came together for the band and it was the first true glimpse at the type of music and ambition that would eventually make them international superstars. It was here that U2's message, melody and overall sound began to effectively coalesce as Edge's effects-heavy guitar, Bono's politically charged lyrics and the bands bold, anthemic arrangements began to emerge.
