Paul Kantner's 1970 debut solo/concept album, Blows Against the Empire is also credited to Jefferson Starship even though it predates the formation of the group by four years and Jefferson Airplane was still active and popular at the time. The concept album broke new ground in its presentation as a musical science fiction novel and it was nominated for a Hugo Award for best sci-fi story. The album was recorded in San Francisco by Kantner with a collective of musician friends that included members of Jefferson Airplane (Grace Slick, Jack Casady, Joey Covington), The Grateful Dead (Jerry Garcia, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart), David Crosby & Graham Nash, David Freiberg of Quicksilver Messenger Service and Harvey Brooks of Electric Flag. The dense instrumentation and complex arrangements are well balanced by Kantner's penchant for hooks and harmonies and despite its complicated subject matter, the album still went Gold.

This one is a must. Decades in the making and culled from hundreds of hours of live concert recordings covering every era of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ tours, The Live Anthology spans 1978-2007 and represents the best tracks as personally chosen by producers Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, and Ryan Ulyate. The Live Anthology comes on the heels of two sold out tours, the Grammy-winning documentary Runnin’ Down A Dream (directed by Peter Bogdanovich), and a headline performance at the Super Bowl XLII halftime show. Now, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, one of rock and roll’s greatest touring bands, mark their unparalleled string of successes with the release of this landmark collection of live recordings that is unlike anything previously available. This is the band’s story told through the music alone.
The producers made no fixes or overdubs, letting the newly-mixed original recordings showcase the invention, spontaneity, craft, and the musicianship that has made Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers among the most celebrated live performers of their time. Along with powerful interpretations of their own classic hits and originals, The Live Anthology features the band tackling some of their best-loved cover material, from classics to obscure beauties to unexpected adaptations including the theme from Goldfinger, the Zombies’ “I Want You Back Again,” the Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil,” early Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well,” Booker T. and the MGs’ “Green Onions,” James Brown’s “Good, Good Lovin’” and many more. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers travel wide, paying their musical debts through song and showing just how confidently the band moves across genres and over time.
The Live Anthology features artwork and packaging by renowned contemporary artist Shepard Fairey. All 51 tracks were mastered specifically from the original live performance recordings and pressed onto 7 x 180g audiophile-quality vinyl LPs. An accompanying deluxe book with liner notes offering personal perspective on the band and their music by Tom Petty, Warren Zanes, Bill Flanagan, Robert Hilburn, Joel Selvin, Austin Scaggs, and Phil Sutcliffe rounds out this once-in-a-lifetime set.

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Neutral Milk Hotel
$18.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea may contain even more solo acoustic compositions than its predecessor, but in a nice turn of irony, it's also the most collaborative Neutral Milk Hotel offering. The album possesses an intimacy, and a sense of purpose, that could only come from shared experience. It's even more conceptual than its multi-layered predecessor, taking on history, faith and spirituality as some of its central themes. But the group's aim was not as much to reinterpret these themes as to rediscover them. The result is very personal and not always a pretty, stream-of-consciousness account of what was gained from the experience.
Named Best Album of the 1990s by Magnet Magazine, Aeroplane gives us Jeff Mangum's powerful solo acoustic work, full horn-section marches, history, religion and sex. Everything you hoped for and more!
Track Listing:
1. The King of Carrot Flowers pt. One
2. The King of Carrot Flowers pts. Two & Three
3. In the Aeroplane over the Sea
4. Two-Headed Boy
5. The Fool
6. Holland, 1945
7. Communist Daughter
8. Oh Comely

Jeff Mangum has always been Neutral Milk Hotel's central figure, and he's used that moniker for everything from his own solo excursions to marching band-like musical happenings. The group's debut album, On Avery Island, is a wonderfully dense hodgepodge of song and sound, an ambitious, eclectic work that reflects the nomadic lifestyle that Mangum and his friends shared at the time. The album is awash with trombone, keyboards, overdriven acoustics and all together beautiful songs.

 By A Thread
Gov't Mule
$18.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Gov't Mule is one of the most successful and respected bands in the world and they've been lauded by Rolling Stone for "successfully bringing the classic power-trio sound of Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience into the 21st century." Now the band has completed work on By A Thread, their first studio album in three years. Recorded largely at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studio in 2009, the album’s origins are apparent from the first track, “Broke Down On The Brazos,” named after the nearby river, with a deep Texas stomp for the backbeat and featuring the trademark guitar-work of ZZ Top founder Billy Gibbons. Perhaps less descriptively named, “Steppin’ Lightly” is another burner, set off by the soulful vocals and mind-bending guitar work of Haynes, who proves anew why Rolling Stone named him one of the Top 25 guitarists of all time. Other highlights include the lament “Railroad Boy,” informed by both Celtic tradition and the Mississippi Delta; the expansive psych-rock of "Monday Mourning Meltdown”; and the optimistic "Frozen Fear,” with its lush harmony and even a hint of rocksteady skank. In recent months, Haynes has been spectacularly busy in his other dual roles as guitarist and singer for The Allman Brothers, who recently wrapped an epic 15 night stand at NYC’s Beacon, and The Dead, where he has drawn rave reviews from fans and critics alike.

 Sea Change
Beck
$39.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl - 2 LPs Sealed
|
Beck’s Sea Change remains the best record of the indie icon’s career. And how. The sonic chameleon shocked the world in 2002 with this warm-sounding folk-pop album—a sincere, honest, and mature meditation on the end of a nine-year relationship with his girlfriend. As for the vocalist’s trademark irony, sarcasm, and humor? Not here. In their place is an affecting emotionalism to which anyone who’s ever been in (or out) of love will relate. The music is equally personal and meditative. Gorgeous string arrangements come courtesy of his father, David Campbell, and illustrate the heartbreak that informs the beautiful melodies and tranquil moods.
Best of all, this album is anything but a bummer. Intending to be heard to from start to finish, Beck begins the record with songs conveying emptiness and loss, and gradually moves on to narratives that detail what changes are necessary to regain a sense of identity, purpose, and feeling. By the time he reaches the concluding “Little One,” the healing has begun. Consider this Beck’s mellowest gold—a feat confirmed by its selection as the #2 record of 2002 on Village Voice’s all-encompassing Pazz & Jop poll.
And now, thanks to truly painstaking remastering efforts, this embraceable and intimate gem sounds better than ever. No lie. Master tapes of every cut were delivered to Mobile Fidelity engineers on a separate reel, with the finished product taking months to perfect. Unlike previous digital versions, no compression or dynamic processing was used, making this half-speed mastered 180-gram 2-LP set not just the definitive version — it’s the only analog version worth owning!
Track Listing:
1. The Golden Age
2. Paper Tiger

6. End Of The Day
7. It's All In Your Mind

 Sugar Me
Claudine Longet
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Claudine Longet's last album, Sugar Me, previously only released in Japan on CD, now on vinyl! The Sugar Me album has a long history. It originally should have been released as Claudine’s third album for Andy Williams' Barnaby Records label in 1974, but it was shelved, due to Claudine's waning popularity as a singer. Her first two albums, released on Barnaby at the beginning of 70s, were perfect examples of easy listening pop music, but did not sell in the age of rock music. A small independent label, Century Records, reissued these two albums in 1993, and a few other tracks were discovered. The original master tapes of the album unfortunately were lost, but the missing tracks were replaced by some previously unreleased tracks and some unfinished studio outtakes that were discovered in the Barnaby archives. The track list is the same as the CD version, but the vinyl release will have 2 bonus tracks from her 1971 single "Canta En Espanol," placed at the end of each side. These two tracks were newly mastered and sound significantly better (and are even a bit longer) than on the previous release.

 Dust Bowl Ballads
Woody Guthrie
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Originally released as three separate 78RPM records, Dust Bowl Ballads is the first collection Woodie Guthrie recorded for Alan Lomax as part of his work for the Library of Congress. Repressed by Smithsonian Folkways in 1964 during the American folk revival years, this quintessential work proves that Guthrie was a true minstrel of the other face of America, the one that you can't find in history books: tales of poverty, migration, storms, illness, hunger and harsh criticism of the American government, incapable of committing to equality. Guthrie would become very popular among city radicals and idealists, and thanks to records like this, a true icon of social activism in the cradle of capitalism.
Track Listing:
1. The Great Dust Storm (Dust Storm Disaster)
2. Talking Dust Bowl Blues
3. Pretty Boy Floyd
4. Dusty Old Dust (So Long, It's Been Good To Know You)

Wanda Jackson

180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed

By the time her 1958 debut album came out, Wanda Jackson was already a seasoned performer. Discovered while still in high school singing country for an Oklahoma City radio station, by 1955 she was touring with Elvis Presley, who encouraged her to sing more in the rockabilly style, where she soon gained a huge fan base. However, this first album for Capitol shows just how versatile she could be, able to sing anything from traditional country to pop. She was also the first country singer to bring a more glamorous style into her stage image, thanks to her mother's handmade flashy stage costumes. Contains 6 bonus tracks from the CD version.

 Smokin'
Humble Pie
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed

When Peter Frampton left Humble Pie, the band he co-founded, the group replaced him with fireball guitarist Clem Clemson. And Humble Pie grew a whole lot more raucous, more freewheeling and downright greasy. Their third album, the first with Clemson, is unquestionably their greatest with Steve Marriott's soulful wail totally unleashed. Smokin' yielded the group's most memorable anthem - "30 Days In The Hole." Stephen Still guests on some funky Hammond organ on "Road Runner 'G' Jam." Cut from the original analog masters with the most intense attention paid to every minute detail, this reissue is positively Smokin'!
Track Listing:
1. Hot 'N' Nasty

4. C'Mon Everybody
5. Old Time Feelin'

 Dire Straits
Dire Straits
$24.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
PRE-ORDER

Dire Straits’ self-titled debut arrived in the midst of punk’s reign but couldn’t have been further removed from the era’s slash-and-burn style. Here is tasteful, jazz-inflected rock, all smoothly skating on virtuoso guitarist Mark Knopfler’s winding guitar lines and the band’s laidback rhythms. Equally drawing from country, roots, and folk influences, the British quartet’s stripped-down music knew no peers in the 70s, and has never been matched to this day.
Part of the reason for the band’s uniqueness owes to its clean, vibrant sound. Just as Knopfler’s narratives reflect poetic and surrealist texts, the group’s arrangements, an intoxicating combination of easygoing shuffles, bluesy boogies, and pop-honed ballads, mirror the old-fashioned soulfulness and spaciousness inherent in the classic recordings of the late '50s and early '60s. It’s no wonder why Dire Straits has long been a favorite of audiophiles the world over. When it comes to sonic purity, transparent soundstages, and rich tonalities, few, if any bands sound better.
And now, thanks to the meticulous efforts of Warner Bros., Dire Straits’ 1978 breakthrough debut can be experienced like never before. Remastered and cut from the original analog tapes and pressed on high-quality 180g vinyl, Dire Straits is simply out-of-this-world good. Knopfler’s mesmerizing guitar textures and cool vocals appear as if they’re right in front of you. Details, imaging, and presence are on a level associated with the finest audiophile recordings.
As it’s proven for the last few years, Warner Bros. treats vinyl with the ultimate respect, and this must-have Dire Straits record is no exception. Listeners with original copies of the LP, or Simply Vinyl’s pressing, will be absolutely stunned upon hearing the improvements. And the rest of us can simply rejoice in knowing that low-key songs such as “Sultans of Swing” and “Southbound Again” resonate with an airiness, openness, and palpability they’ve never claimed prior. A five-star pressing!
Track Listing:
1. Down to the Waterline
2. Water of Love
3. Setting Me Up
4. Six Blade Knife
5. Southbound Again
6. Sultans of Swing
7. In the Gallery
8. Wild West End
9. Lions

 Meeting Of The Soul Brothers

A rare opportunity to hear this meeting between jazz giant and vibes pioneer, Milt Jackson, and the godfather of R&B and one of the greatest musicians of all time, Ray Charles! Originally released as two separate albums in 1958, Soul Meeting and Soul Brothers, this is the first time both of these legendary discs are available together on vinyl. Ironically, when this disc was released it was Jackson, with his pioneering Modern Jazz Quartet, who was the more famous of the two men. Here, being perhaps the greatest vibist of all time, he rocks the vibes and even tries his hand at a little guitar and piano. Brother Ray, on the other hand, wows us with his amazing piano playing and did you know he was also an excellent sax player? These albums have been highly praised by critics and fans alike as being true masterworks.

Once in a great while a truly superlative musical talent comes along, it only happens a handful of times per century, and one of those times “it” was Hank Williams. Despite his swift and total rise to super stardom by the age 25, by 29 he was dead in the back of his own Cadillac, but it is what happened in the meantime that made all the difference. While America, returning victorious from the War in 1945, attempted to create an image of a invincibility, wealth and power in the face of its citizens and the world, there was a boy with a guitar from the wrong side of the tracks, Alabama, who had another story to tell. A story that, amid all the propaganda and ticker tape parades, Americans could relate to and, judging from the record sales, obviously wanted to hear. From 1946 to 1951 Hank Williams recorded enough hits to last country music stations for the following fifty. He dominated the country music charts throughout this period (with 11 # 1 songs and many more in the Top 10), and songs like “Cold Cold Heart,” “Hey Good Lookin'” and “Your Cheatin' Heart," have become standards in American music. Honky Tonkin' is the second of five albums that represent a complete chronological retrospective (1946-1951) of the man who revolutionized not only country music, but pop music in general.
Track Listing:
1. My Sweet Love Ain't Around
2. The Blues Come Around
3. A Mansion On The Hill
4. I'll Be A Bachelor 'Til I Die
5. There'll Be No Teardrops Tonight

Orphans has been a genuine phenomenon in the storied career of Tom Waits, a collection of “songs that fell behind the stove while making dinner,” that has been greeted with open arms by thrilled Waits fans. The album quickly became his fastest‐selling release ever, his first certified gold record, and a genuine classic in the Waits cannon. The collection goes far beyond a simple career retrospective, with over 30 newly recorded songs from Waits’ own versions of songs he gave to other artists to some “things I recorded in the garage with the kids.” Over two‐thirds of the material has never been heard before now. In addition to the new work, Orphans features a number of tracks finding a home on a Waits album for the first time. They include Waits’ unique interpretations of songs by such diverse talents as The Ramones, Daniel Johnston, Kurt Weill & Bertolt Brecht, and Leadbelly. Now Waits is bringing Orphans to a glorious‐sounding 7 LP box set, all pressed on 180g vinyl, and housed in a deluxe pull‐out case. In addition, Waits has added six more tracks from the archives, including Tom’s irreverent take on Fats Waller’s “Crazy ‘Bout My Baby.” Longtime Waits fans and the newly converted will want to own this collector’s edition of one of Waits’ most important releases.
Features 7 full length LPs, with 56 tracks, including 6 additional bonus tracks not on the CD and deluxe 12” booklet with Lyrics.

180 Gram Audiophile Virgin 45 RPM Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed

Donald Johanos conducts the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Little needs to be said about this audiophile classic. Known for its demonstration qualities with very low, deep bass and overall smooth and warm sound. Mastered at AcousTech by Kevin Gray and pressed on virgin vinyl at Pallas in Germany.
"The tape recording was made at a speed of 30 inches-per-second, using a transport modified to produce exceptionally good motion: a specially developed constant-velocity recording curve was employed for improved signal-to-noise ratio. The lacquer masters were made directly from the original tape, thus avoiding further transfer degradation. The result is a recording of exceptional clarity, naturalness and freedom from vices prevalent generally in the art." - original liner notes

 Crash Love
AFI
$15.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
The eighth full length studio album from the A.F.I. Crash Love is indeed informed not only by the ever-evolving chemistry between the musicians in the band but also by the members' personal lives and, perhaps most of all, by the always intense relationship between A.F.I. and its fans. While Crash Love is the first A.F.I. record to feature such prevalent sociopolitical and observational perspectives, the darkly personal lyrical strain is distinctly present on standout tracks like 'Medicate' and its stark portrait of a user/enabler relationship, as well as throughout the ill fated death ride scenario of 'End Transmission.'
Track Listing:
1. Torch Song
2. Beautiful Thieves
3. End Transmission
4. Too Shy To Scream
5. Veronica Sawyer Smokes

 Born In The U.S.A.
Bruce Springsteen
$29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Born in the U.S.A. is an album painted in big, broad strokes. But it was still too subtle for some--namely politicians who tried to tap the title track as a jingoistic anthem when it is in fact a bitter diatribe by a Vietnam War vet whose country forgot him. The rest of the album is a glorious grab bag of radio-ready populist anthems--his best display of pure pop songwriting ever--including "No Surrender," "Dancing in the Dark," "Bobby Jean," and "Glory Days" alongside more circumspect numbers such as "My Hometown" and "I'm On Fire." It's not true that there's no arguing with success, but in this case Springsteen's widespread acclaim was warranted. With Born in the U.S.A., all those predictions from a decade earlier--that Bruce Springsteen was the future of rock--had come true.

1. Born In The U.S.A.
