Many of the album's songs explore romantic relationships from a distinctly female perspective. As Peyroux says "These love songs come from an extremely personal place, and therefore allowed me a most intimate reading."

Produced by Larry Klein, the 12-track album finds Peyroux lending her sublime vocals to songs by artists she has cherished throughout her lifetime such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Fred Neil and Joni Mitchell. Peyroux wrote the upbeat 'I'm All Right' with Klein and Steely Dan's Walter Becker, and three other songs with Klein and Jesse Harris (who co-wrote 'Don't Wait Too Long' on Careless Love).

After much success (and a little luck) with our Little Richard hits packages, MoFi next visited the Sony vaults to identify and audition the original masters of another rock pioneer. This famous Roy Orbison collection had originally been compiled by Monument Records in 1972 and has stayed in print ever since. Before being wooed away by the old MGM Records label, Orbison experienced an astonishing run for Monument, placing fifteen singles (all included here) in the Top 100 on the pop and country charts.

If any musical combo ever meshed perfectly with the times it was the Incredible String Band. And here’s the proof: 1967’s The 5000 Spirits Or Layers Of The Onion on deep-grooved, 180-gram vinyl. The wildly eclectic Scottish folk outfit—with the airy vocals and fretboard prowess of Robin Williamson and Mike Heron as its two constants—began life resurrecting wondrous and ancient Celtic ballads, then was transformed by the perfumed winds of 1967’s psychedelic revolution to add sitar, oud, gimbri and all manner of exotic axes to its arsenal.
