 Hank Mobley (200 Gram)
Hank Mobley
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl MONO LP - Sealed
|
This stunning mono set was recorded by Rudy Van Gelder and originally
released on Blue Note Records in June of 1957. The original Jazz
Messengers, who Mobley had help found, had just disbanded and the heavyweight
tenor-man was splitting time between Horace Silver's new group and as an
exclusive Blue Note recording artist. Calling on some of the cream of NYC's
finest, Mobley opted for a sextet setting and the results became a classic.
Including another sax player in Curtis Porter on alto and second tenor
was a unique thought and added to the front-line punch of Bill Hardman's trumpet.
The rhythm of Sonny Clark on piano, Paul Chambers at the bass and Art Taylor behind
the drums is an all-star adhesive holding the group tightly together. Mobley's "dry
and intimate" tone shines through in a subtle approach to the harmonies and cadence
set in each selection. Mastered from the original first-generation monaural master
tapes and cut with Classic Record's custom-built mono cutting head. Included are
Falling In Love With Love, Mighty Moe and Joe, Bags' Groove, Double Exposure and News.

 Dial S for Sonny
Sonny Clark
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl Mono LP - Sealed
|
Dial "S" for Sonny, Sonny Clark first session for Blue Note Records and his first session as a leader, is a terrific set of laidback bop, highlighted by Sonny Clark liquid, swinging solos. Sonny Clark leads a first-rate group -- Art Farmer (trumpet), Curtis Fuller (trombone), Hank Mobley (tenor sax), Wilbur Ware (bass), Louis Hayes (drums) -- through four originals and two standards, balancing the selections between swinging bop and reflective ballads. There are traces of Bud Powell in Sonny Clark style, but he's beginning to come into his own, developing a style that's alternately edgy and charmingly relaxed. Hank Mobley, Art Farmer and Curtis Fuller have their moments, but Sonny Clark steals the show in this set of fine, straight-ahead bop.

 Candy (200 Gram)
Lee Morgan
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl MONO LP - Sealed
|
This classic Blue Note session finds trumpeter Morgan not having to battle
other horns, just front-and-center with an all-star trio behind him. It was
his only quartet recording as a leader, for Blue Note. The exquisite Sonny
Clark on piano, Doug Watkins' solid bass and the ever-tasteful Art Taylor
behind the drums complete these sessions recorded in Hackensack by RVG in
Nov. '57 and Feb. '58. Loaded with standards, it's a hard-bop masterpiece
that both swings and shows the ballad side of one of the defining young
trumpeters from the late 50s - early 60s. Not discounting the contributions
from the rhythm section, the high-caliber interplay between just trumpet
and
piano is a rare treat and a marvel to behold. Selections include Since I
Fell For You, C.T.A., All The Way, Who Do You Love, I Hope?, Personality,
All At Once You Love Her and the title tune.

 Jutta Hipp
Jutta Hipp
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl Mono LP - Sealed
|
Jutta Hipp, a talented German pianist, came to the United States in the
mid-'50s and quickly gained some attention. Hipp's boppish music on the set
is very enjoyable and swinging. Oddly enough, soon after this now impossible
LP to find, she left the jazz world. Teamed up with great tenor Zoot Sims
(who dominates the music), somewhat hesitant trumpeter Jerry Lloyd (who
briefly came out of retirement), bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik, and drummer Ed
Thigpen, Hipp sounds excellent on a couple of basic originals and such
standards as "Violets for Your Furs," "Almost Like Being in Love," and J.J.
Johnson's "Wee Dot." This rare set is well worth picking up by
straight-ahead jazz collectors. The Classic reissue was cut from the
original full track mono master on our vintage "all tube" mono cutting
system by Bernie "Bebop" Grundman.

 Volume 1 Comparison Package
Miles Davis
$54.99
Vinyl LP 10" 33 RPM Disc + 45 RPM 12" 200G Disc - Sealed
|
This is Miles Davis' first Blue Note recording released in 1952 as a 10" LP with the title apparently borrowed from a 1950 movie of the same name starring Kirk Douglas. The line up on the six song LP features Jay Jay Johnson, Jackie McLean, Gil Coggins, Oscar Pettiford and Kenny Clark backing up the Young Man with a Horn. This record swings and the playing is obviously from a more romantic Miles trying to find his way. The authentic "deep groove" non-groove guard pressing in an authentic tip on jacket will fool even the best collectors. Cut on the newly restored Classic Mono Cutting System at Bernie Grundman mastering by Mr Be Bop himself! Even if you don't own a record player you have to have this record if you want to be cool.
Includes Mono 10" Disc 33.3rpms and 45rpms 12" QUIEX SV-P 200g double sided disc.

Holidays In Europe was named and inspired by K.U.K.L.'s travel experiences on a European Tour. Working with an even wider palette of sounds at the band's disposal, including samples, exotic synths and various delays, K.U.K.L. somehow crafted a record that makes its dense debut, The Eye, seem like child's play. Although the intensity and ambition are hard to deny, it's obvious that these songs are the product of a band at odds with itself and the group soon disbanded with some of the group's core members going on to form the bouyant Sugarcubes.
For all the audiophiles out there One Little Indian is reissuing 38 classic albums using the newest technology in vinyl manufacturing - Half Speed Direct Metal Mastering. The groove is cut directly in copper metal. Transient response is greatly improved. Stampers are plated directly from the DMM Copper Master, eliminating two of the three plating steps required for lacquers. In short, DMM yields better detail resolution and a lower noise ratio. This is especially good for long play albums, or audiophile material. All albums are remastered direct from the original master tapes and pressed on 45RPM heavy weight 200g virgin vinyl audiophile discs. Each release is strictly limited, housed in a plastic wallet and individually numbered. A chance to pick up classic One Little Indian albums in the most lavish vinyl format available.

With its scattered guitar squalls, blood-boiling squeals and scattershot rhythms, The Eye borrows equally from punk, noisecore, avant garde and good old-fashioned indie rock. Assembled as a sort of Icelandic indie supergroup with a pre-Sugarcubes Bjork on vocals, K.U.K.L. made non-conformist music with a passion and intensity that is as admirable as it is ambitious.

45RPM
NYC singer/songwriter Jesse Malin's 2007 release, Glitter In The Gutter is a raw, modern record of thirteen stellar songs about life's struggles and the rewards of those struggles. Malin covers a lot of ground with his intimate and detail oriented storytelling, leaving no stone uncovered and touching on every walk of life. He conveys happiness and sadness in the same note, using both electric guitars and acoustics, modern keyboards and acoustic piano, power driven drums and happy jangly percussions with driving bass lines and big voice choruses, Glitter In The Gutter is an energetic, infused, moving record with a defiant and exuberant spirit.
The album also contains some fine work from guests artists such as Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, who plays his signature dissident guitar riffs on “Tomorrow Tonight” and Chris Shifflet of the Foo Fighters, whose iron fisted rhythms appear on “Prisoners of Paradise.” Jakob Dylan adds sweet sad harmonies on “Black Haired Girl” and there is a piano fueled duet with Bruce Springsteen titled “Broken Radio” that includes the sonic jubilee of Ryan Adams on electric guitar. There are also some other very special moments with Ryan (producer of Malin’s debut The Fine Art of Self Destruction, like his Latina guitar and back-ups vocals on the album closer “Aftermath” and his blistering rock on “Modern World” and “Little Star.”

An amalgamation of sound and visuals, Volta finds Bjork returning to her iconic, innovative and rhythmic roots. Highlights include the Timberland-produced "Innocence," the sitar sample driven "I See Who You Are" and the softly arranged horns of "Pneumonia." Bjork's 1997 release Homogenic is an emotional explosion. Björk had moved to Spain to record an album that would sound like Icelandic nature, trying to put a definition on what Icelandic techno would sound like. Earthquakes, volcanos and lavafields, mixed with high-tech elements and strings. The result was the supernatural Homogenic and its dynamic desegregate of aggressive beats and soothing ballads.

In the midst of her work with her Icelandic college rock band The Sugarcubes and prior to striking it big with Debut, Björk teamed up with the Gudmundar Ingólfssonar Trio on a set of traditional Icelandic jazz tunes. Her voice is incredibly enthusiastic, exciting and upbeat here and it was the last bit of pure jazz she ever recorded. The album went platium upon its original 1990 release and it showcases Bjork's voice in a way that's unique and truly remarkable.

This is Basie's first recording for Roulette from 1958 and Classic's first ALL MONO 12" LP. Cut on the Classic Mono Cutting System from the original Mono master tape using a Mono tape head for playback and cutting, this legendary record will swing you till you're limp. There is a stereo tape of for this title but it is no where near as good as the Mono master. Wait until you hear this one - it smokes the original! This is what they call Big Mama Mono!

 Tubular Bells
Mike Oldfield
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP -Sealed

MIKE OLDFIELD's TUBULAR BELLS: A quintessential ‘studio production’ in pop music lore, Mike Oldfield conceived an eclectic mix of both standard and odd instruments, along with classical and rock elements, to achieve a steadily building, layered texture, totally unheard of at the time. After being shopped and rejected at other labels, Richard Branson chose it as the first release for his Virgin Records in 1972. Originally tagged with the working title Opus 1, Oldfield, who had been playing and recording professional since his teens, oversaw the entire production and played most of the parts himself, eventually layering over thirty different instruments and sounds. Listeners had fun trying to identify each and remember the order they appeared, as the late Vivian Stanshall (Bonzo Dog Band) ceremoniously announced each as it joined the mix. The original LP eventually sold over 16 million copies and topped the UK charts for weeks. The eerie opening section was famously featured in the soundtrack to the motion-picture The Exorcist, winning the Grammy in 1974 for Best Instrumental Composition. The original master tapes were used to cut both the original issue and this reissue making the original issue hard to best. With Chris Bellman doing the mastering honors using Classic’s “all tube†cutting system and being pressed on Classic’s proprietary Super Vinyl Profile sheds new light on, and a slight nod to the Classic reissue of, this longstanding audiophile favorite.

 Live At Leeds (200 Gram)
The Who

200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed

Which just about sums up the universal opinion of the first official live recording released by The Who. After repeated failed attempts on their 69-70 UK Tommy tour, the hall on the campus of Leeds University was intentionally scheduled for the main purpose of recording a live album. The results, although only six selections from a much longer performance, were a triumph. Riding the crest of the Tommy album and their monumental appearance at the Woodstock Festival, the original quartet of Townshend, Daltrey, Entwhistle and Moon channeled Mose Allison, Eddie Cochran and Chad Allen with cover versions of Young Man Blues, Summertime Blues and Shakin’ All Over respectively, while delivering expanded and stripped down versions that turned their own Substitute, Magic Bus and My Generation inside-out. A perfect mix, flaunting warts and all; amp noise, feedback and distortion…Who cares! This album ROCKS! All original artwork and packaging including all the "bits" are part of this Classic Records authentic reissue of the original Track UK release. Cut from the original two track master tapes (amp lead pops and all) at Bernie Grundman Mastering by Chris Bellman on Classic's "ALL TUBE" cutting system, this 200g Super Vinyl Profile pressing brings new insight into the genius in the nuance that has previously been obscured - even on original track pressings used for comparison in mastering. Recommendation not need - just buy it!

The Who

200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed

Considered the very first rock opera, this 1969 breakthrough recording from the genius of Pete Townshend was highly controversial upon its release. Originally banned by the BBC and by some U.S. radio stations, the underlying child abuse and molestation theme in the tale of the deaf, dumb and blind Tommy Walker was a startling, darker side to the former mod-rockers from Shepherds Bush. Highlighted at the Woodstock festival and film, the album peaked at # 4 on the Billboard chart. Townshend proved to himself and the world he could still attempt such a libretto and still rock!. It s pawned such Who staples as "Pinball Wizard," "The Acid Queen," "I'm Free" and "We're Not Gonna Take It / See Me, Feel Me." Ultimate movie, Broadway and concertized versions have kept its imaginative story and music in the forefront for the past three decades. Cut from the original two track quarter inch mater tapes provided by The Who on Classic's all tube stereo cutting system by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. Pressed on
200g heavy weight vinyl and packaged in authentic tri-fold laminated sleeve including original booklet. This is a masterpiece in every way and an absolute must for all rock fans!

 Who's Next (200 Gram)
The Who
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed

At the beginning of the 70s, the impact of Tommy weighed heavily on Pete
Townshend's shoulders. How on earth would he and the Who top such a
successful and important album? The guitarist-songwriter felt he had to take
his music and its conceptual strains one step further. He began writing a
futuristic fable that would transcend itself beyond the usual conventions of
modern music. Intended to be a film, a play, a concert, a mega multimedia
and cerebral experience - Townshend called his new project Lifehouse. And
although Lifehouse would stay frozen on the blocks for another 30 years, its
seeds sprouted the Who's most cohesive and consistent effort, Who's Next.
How Townshend's ambitious follow-up ended up as Who's Next isn't easy to
discern. After several false starts and a break with Who manager/mentor, Kit
Lambert, the record was eventually rescued and shaped by producer/engineer,
Glyn Johns. Much of Townshend's vision was contained within his extensive
demos -- bits and pieces of a loosely constructed storyline set against
experimental melodies and basic backbeats. The album's opening track, "Baba
O'Riley," was originally an elongated cycle of synthesizer loops. What it
became was an anthem, highlighted by a tumultuous build, Dave Arbus'
rambling violin and Roger Daltrey's acclamation of a "Teenage Wasteland."
The thunder is sustained by the contagious "Bargain" - now, like so much of
the Who's music, a commercial jingle. "Love Ain't For Keeping" chugs away
against a fierce acoustic rhythm while John Entwistle's sole contribution of
"My Wife" remains one of his most electrifying songs. "This Song Is Over"
features Nicky Hopkins' incomparable piano work and ends with a chorus
pulled from "Pure And Easy," the central number of Lifehouse that failed to
make the final cut, but would resurface three years later on the Odds And
Sods compilation.
The theme is maintained on "Getting In Tune," reintroduced during the Who's
most recent tour, and "Going Mobile," a track with Townshend on lead vocals
that recounts a couple of Lifehouse's characters cruising the streets in a
Cadillac. It's the album's two singles that set up the grand finale. "Behind
Blue Eyes" and "Won't Get Fooled Again" are adrenaline-filled powder kegs
that capture the Who in their most primal state. Keith Moon's drumming is as
wild as ever, yet enduringly steady. Entwistle's sturdy bass and Townshend's
barking guitar rise and shift as Daltrey's signature scream radiates with
emotion and authority during the climax. This is arguably one of the Who's
greatest triumphs ever put on record. And indisputably one of the most
definitive moments in all of rock and roll.

200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 3 LPs Sealed

It was thirty five years ago today when Jimi Hendrix took the stage to end
what would arguably become the most famous Rock event in history. Who knew
it would be around 9 am on the Monday morning after the event was to end on
Sunday night. What we do know is that Jimi came to headline the show and
did so with a great set albeit at least twelve hours later than anticipated.
Yes, many people had already left but for those who stayed to see the
world's greatest rock guitarist it must have been a fitting end to three
days of memorable performances by Crosby Stills and Nash, Janis Joplin,
Santana, The Greatful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Who, Jefferson
Airplane, The Band and a host of others. To commemorate that day and the
spirit of what it has come to represent, Classic Records and Experience
Hendrix would like to announce the 35th anniversary Jimi Hendrix at
Woodstock deluxe LP Boxed Set which includes the legendary Hendrix performance
on 3 LP's transferred from the original analog master tapes. Accompanying
features include a 36 page booklet with rare photos, expanded essays and

members present that last day in the Summer of Love. Also included is a

week after Woodstock with the same band by Eddie Kramer. This definitive

Generally regarded as Peter Gabriel's finest record, his third eponymous

that is undeniably alluring, and he keeps this going throughout the record.

Over his twenty-five year tenure on Blue Note, pianist Silver employed some great horn men to record with but arguably none blended better with his arranging than the group he assembled for this May 1957 session. Hank Mobley’s tenor and Art Farmer’s trumpet become the right and left hands to Silver’s body of work and set a standard for small-ensemble writing and playing. No slouches themselves, Teddy Kotick’s bass and Louis Hayes’ drum work help produce a stellar collection including a version of “Home Cookin” that became a jazz classic. Charlie Rouse

Recorded in 1962 by Rudy Van Gelder at the Englewood Cliffs studio,
Rouse and Co. departed from the normal hard-bop that as Monk’s main tenorman he had earned his New York rep with and took the recent bossa nova / calypso craze, started by Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd and even Sonny Rollins to another place. With great grooves from the rhythm section, including augmentation with conga and chekere, the result is a great collection, rooted in various Afro-Caribbean styles and not American jazzmen trying to sound Brazilian. Among others, guitarist Kenny Burrell’s and especially drummer Willie Bobo’s playing makes this not just another bossa nova fad date. Sonny Rollins

Outside of Paul Chambers, who was employed as Miles Davis’s bassist at this time, all of the other players on these April 1957 RVG Hackensack dates were leaders of their own renowned groups; a reflection of the respect they all shared for the date leader, Sonny Rollins. Besides Chambers, with J.J. Johnson on trombone, Art Blakey behind the drums and alternating pianists Thelonious Monk and Horace Silver, who both play on the now-famous version of “Misterioso”, the words All-Star seem almost demeaning to this conclave. The resulting recordings burst forth with confidence and enthusiasm, capturing a fire and passion usually found only with uninhibited live dates and not the constraints of a recording studio. Exceptional versions of “Poor Butterfly” and “You Stepped Out Of a Dream” elevate this record to monumental status. Mastered and cut on an all tube pure mono cutting system by Bernie Grundman. Midnight Blue
Kenny Burrell
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl Mono LP - Sealed

Why do this title in STEREO when the MONO is generally the way the Classic Blue Note Signature Series titles are released and given that we've made such
a big deal about how Van Gelder intended his recordings to be listened to in Mono? The answer is simply that the 2 - track tape sounds great and like
"Somethin' Else" and "Blue Train" deserves its own treatment in addition to the mono release. The transfer by Bernie Grundman was done on Classic's "All Tube"
Stereo cutting system from the original 2 - track master tape (the same tape used for the MONO release). Midnight Blue
is one of those records that you just put on, sit back and relax. Burrell and a great band including Stanley Turrentine on tenor sax, Bill English on drums, Ray Barretto on conga
and Major Holley Jr. on bass lay down tunes including "Mule", "Soul Lament", "Wavy Gravy", "Gee Baby Ain't I good for You"
and "Midnight Blue" among others. Burrell is quoted as saying to Alfred Lion "I have always had a Love for the blues. In my earliest days in Detroit, I worked with groups
that concentrated a great deal on the blues. And I wanted to get a group together for this session that can feel the blues the way I do." Pressed on Classic's own Quiex Super Vinyl Profile,
this release, as part of the Classic Blue Note Signature LP Series is a must have. Also available in MONO cut from the same 2 - channel master tapes - summed into MONO per Rudy's instructions!

Continuing where his debut left off, Morgan’s second LP in 1956 as a leader for Blue Note, finds the teen prodigy (still only 18) slowly emerging out from the long shadow of his idol and mentor Clifford Brown and feeling his own way among giants. You can hear his confidence growing in his solos, energized and fed by the company he has been keeping rather than any intimidation or hesitation at all. Excellent ensemble work must be credited to Benny Golson, who arranged four of the six numbers on the date. Led by a three-horn assault of Morgan’s trumpet, BN regular Hank Mobley on tenor and the fairly obscure altoist Kenny Rodgers, they cruise through a variety of tempos and moods, the highlights being their memorable takes on “Whisper Not” and “Where Am I”? As expected, Horace Silver’s piano, Paul Chambers’ bass and the drumming of Charlie Persip ! is both impeccable and tasteful throughout. Other selections include “Latin Hangover”, “His Sister”, “D’s Funk” and “Slightly Hep” Extremely hep is more like it. Mastered and cut by Bernie Grundman on Classic's "ALL TUBE PURE MONO" cutting system (not like others who
use a stereo cutting head which imparts "crosstalk" onto the groove cut) and pressed onto 200 gram QUIEX Super Vinyl Profile for maximum fidelity. Jackets are authentic "tip-on" and laminated (front only) as were the originals - and the labels have the desirable "deep groove". Another installment in the Classic Blue Note Signature Mono LP Series.

Concerto For Orchestra -- Houston Symphony Orchestra
Bela Bartok & Leopold Stokowski
$29.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
|
Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra derives its name from the approach taken in treating instrument groups within the orchestra in a ‘concertante’ or soloist manner throughout the piece. This virtuoso treatment, for example, is notable in the fugato section of the first movement where the brass are highlighted as well as in the second movement where pairs of instruments appear consecutively creating a brilliant passage. Stokowski’s interpretation of this popular Bartok composition was recorded at the Houston Civic Center by Bert Whyte and team and originally released in March of 1961. The LP, as are all reissues from this series, was cut directly from the 35mm magnetic film using a vintage Westrex 1551 tape machine, with specially built playback electronics that are vastly superior to any others used on these machines to playback the original 35mm tapes. The Len Horowitz / History of Recorded Sound specially modified 1551, fitted with brand new playback heads matched to the revolutionary playback electronics was stationed at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. With Len Horowitz running the playback machine and Bernie Grundman mastering from the three track 35mm tapes, Classic Records has been able to cut the legendary sound and performances directly from the 35mm magnetic film through Classic's "ALL TUBE" tape playback system and cutting system at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. The LP's are pressed on Classic's 200g Super Vinyl Profile making it possible to get every nuance out of the non-distorted grooves that make SVP sound superior to all other records on the market today. Authentic tip on construction jackets with all original artwork and labels add to this must have deluxe LP edition as part of the Classic Everest 35MM LP Series.

The Icelandic avant-pop pioneers, the Sugarcubes' second record, Here Today, Tomorrow Next Week! was originally released in 1989 and it's rich in eccentric contrast and playful contradiction. Teaming the swooping vocals of lead singer Bjork and the spoken word agit-propisms of trumpeter Einer, is bizarre yet very well matched. Notable tracks include the calypso-tinged "Tidal Wave," the barbed and jagged rhythms of "Nail" and the hyperactive "A Day Called Zero."
Powder Burns is the fourth Twilight Singers release from former Afghan Whigs singer Greg Dulli and it features guest appearances by Joseph Arthur, Ani DiFranco and old band-mate John Curley. Powder Burns strikes an immediate impression; songs like “There’s Been An Accident,” “Underneath The Waves” and “Forty Dollars” display Dulli’s song-writing perfectly; his lyrics, morose and uplifting in equal quantities, are complimented by his salient vocals. Dulli lets loose his spiralling tales of unyielding desires and personal regrets amid a wash of swirling guitars and string-driven orchestration. Beautifully arranged, the intricate production never gets the better of the songs themselves, always taking a back seat to the sentiment of the lyrics and Dulli’s swelling melodies. Recorded in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina and mixed there after the hurricane, the album was produced by Mike Napolitano (Blind Melon, The Neville Brothers, Joseph Arthur, The Autumn Defense).

Duke Ellington And Louis Armstrong Recorded Together For The First Time
45 RPM 4 LP Box Set
The Ellington band is superb and Louis just blows and sings to your heart's content. Transfered, for the first time, directly from the 3 track session masters. You can hear everything! If you had to take one record to a desert island with you this would be one of the top choices. Now this wonderful recording is available for the first time as a part of the CLASSIC CLARITY VINYL 45 RPM SERIES – all pressed on our Super Vinyl Profile II.
Clarity Vinyl represents the ultimate in vinyl formulations because it is comprised of over 90% percentage of the highest quality co-polymer available - a key component in vinyl pellets used for manufacturing vinyl records. Further, Clarity Vinyl has no carbon black additive, common in vinyl formulas for LP’s. Carbon Black contains trace metals that become magnetized and cause “electrical distortions” in cartridges during playback that smears the sound. By taking out the Carbon Black, Classic Records is able to dramatically reduce the “electrical distortions” and thus bring more “Clarity” to the playback process, providing a more realistic musical experience to the listener and LP enthusiast.
45 RPM records have long been recognized as providing a higher fidelity musical experience resulting purely from the cartridge being able to extract more of the nuance from the complex vertical and horizontal groove modulations in stereo LP’s. Further, Classic Records 45 RPM “single sided” pressings dramatically reduce the mechanical resonances created by the cartridge during playback by allowing these resonances to be more fully transmitted to and absorbed by the turntable platter. Classic Records Clarity Vinyl 45 rpm pressings are designed and manufactured to provide the “LOWEST DISTORTION” in every aspect of LP playback resulting in putting the listener as close to the music as possible.

 The Great Reunion

45 RPM 3 LP Box Set
Released as a second volume of recordings by Roulette Records from a 1961 summit between two jazz icons, after hearing this collaboration you'll wish they had recorded ten volumes. And with the musical talent and knowledge between them, they could have! Using Louis Armstrong's regulars plus Duke Ellington at the piano (who performs exceptionally well, comping understatedly behind the vocals), the duo romps through seven of the Duke's most famous and popular compositions. And when Satchmo decides to blow, he shapes his solos perfectly into the tasteful arrangements. With Trummy Young on trombone and Barney Bigard on clarinet plus a rhythm section of Mort Herbert on bass and Danny Barcelona on drums, these recordings are a once-in-a-lifetime dream summit meeting that thank God producer Bob Thiele was brilliantly astute enough to arrange and capture on tape. Selections include "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)," "Solitude," "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," "I'm Beginning To See The Light," "Just Squeeze Me," "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)" and "Azalea." Great Reunion is now available for the first time as a part of the CLASSIC CLARITY VINYL 45 RPM SERIES – all pressed on our Super Vinyl Profile II.

 Back To The Tracks (MONO)
Tina Brooks
$32.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl Mono LP - Sealed
|
This is one of those Blue Note Records as that Larry Cohn would say,
should have come out in 1960 when it was recorded but not released which
was common for Blue Note. Tina on tenor sax is accompanied by Jackie
McLean on alto sax, Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Kenny Drew on piano,
Paul Chambers on bass,
and Art Taylor on drums doing tunes like "Back to the Tracks",
"Street Singer" and "The Blues and I" all penned by Brooks as well as
other tunes. The first
issue of this recording was in Japan and it has only subsequently
been issued in the US in stereo and as such this constitutes the
first MONO LP issue
as it would have been if it had been put out in 1960. This first US
Blue Note Mono issue on LP has been faithfully
reproduced and transferred from the original full track Mono master
tapes on Classic's ALL TUBE, MONO cutting system - no Mono cut
on a stereo lathe here. Another in the Classic Blue Note Signature
Mono LP reissue series pressed with the authentic "deep groove" on
Classic's proprietary 200g Super Vinyl Profile.

Limited Edition Direct Metal Master Import
Originally issued back in 1997, Von was the first full album release from Icelandic drifters Sigur Ros and it's now available here on Limited Edition Direct Metal Master 200g Import LP. The sound across these 12 tracks is reassuringly primitive, though often daring, drifting from 4AD-inspired quasi-shoegazing atmospherics at one moment, and John-Cage inspired silence the next. The band was quite obviously at this stage not only looking at the reverberating echoes of the British Indie scene of the late 80’s, but also in its more ambitious forefather, Prog rock.

 Blue Train (Box Set)
John Coltrane
$49.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl 45 RPM - 4 LPs Sealed

Arguably one of the most influential titles from John Coltrane and one of the greatest Blue Note releases ever. In 1957, right at the very start of his prestige recording period, 'Trane did this one-off set in New Jersey with Rudy Van Gelder with historic results. The recent reissue abundance of the title, re-packaged and enhanced in many ways, reveals the reverence put upon these sides. Transferred from the first-generation two track masters. Now available on Classic Records Clarity Vinyl SVP-II 200g as a Single Sided 45RPM Deluxe Box Set Release.

 Aqualung (Box Set)
Jethro Tull

200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Clarity Vinyl 45RPM LP - 4 LPs Sealed

1971 saw the release of some of the greatest pop/rock albums of all time. Imagine, Pearl, Sticky Fingers, Who’s Next, Tupelo Honey, Surf’s Up, Fragile, Led Zep’s IV, Muswell Hillbillies, Tapestry, What’s Going On? and both Madman Across the Water and Tumbleweed Connection are just some of the iconic titles that hit the stores that year. Add Aqualung and that’s quite an output for a twelve month span. Generally considered the pinnacle of the band’s recorded output, front-man Ian Anderson’s songwriting was quickly evolving from British folk-blues roots and helping define prog-rock. While definitely pushing the envelope for the era in taking on the subjects of God and organized religion, it was guitarist Martin Barre who was establishing equal ground with Anderson’s flute as an instrumental voice of the band. Joining Tull after Toni Iommi (Black Sabbath) who himself had replaced original guitarist Mick Abrahams (Blodwyn Pig, Mick Abrahams Band) departed after only a few days, both Barre’s opening riffs and lead breaks became indelibly imprinted to generations of classic rock. Songs such as My God, Hymn 43, Locomotive Breath, Cross-Eyed Mary, Wind Up and of course the title tune became FM radio staples and are in-demand concert favorites to this day. The Classic Records reissue of Aqualung was cut from the original analog master tapes obtained from Ian Anderson on Classic's "all tube" cutting system by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman mastering. This version features, for the first time since the original Chrysalis release, an authentic faux linen textured gatefold jacket and original label art. Now Available on 45rpm as a Four Disc Box Set, pressed on Classic’s Clarity 200g Super Vinyl Profile this will be the definitive version - period!

One of Dorham"s tried and true classics, 1961’s Whistle Stop is a virtual all-star collective. Again featuring his former Jazz Messenger band mate Hank Mobley on tenor (when did this guy eat or sleep?), it equally showcases the classic stylings of pianist Kenny Drew, Paul Chamber’s bass and perennially solid Philly Joe Jones on the skins. This album presents the jazz classic Blue Bo! ssa , as well as Epitaph, a majestic, concise coda enhanced by Dorham’s fine mute work, on-par with the Milesian standard. Cut from the original MONO master tapes by Bernie Grundman using Classic Records’ ALL TUBE pure MONO cutting system and pressed on Classic Records Quiex SV-P II proprietary “flat” profile.

 Casino Royale

200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl 45RPM LP - 4 LPs Sealed
PRE-ORDER
|
One of the most debated over and sought after audiophile titles, Casino Royale has graced many "Top Ten" lists for decades. This quirky soundtrack, to the equally zany James Bond spoof, features music and arrangements by the prolific and very hip Burt Bacharach. The highlight of the set is a breathy rendition of "The Look of Love," by the late Dusty Springfield. The main theme and supporting incidental music are by Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass. The sound captured by the young engineer (but soon-to-be Super Producer, Phil Ramone) is still stunning, more than 30 years later. This Four Disc 45RPM Box Set is now available for the first time on Classic Records Clarity Quiex SV-P 200g Vinyl.
Track Listing:
1. Casino Royale Theme - Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass
2. The Look of Love - Dusty Springfield (vocal) & Hal David (lyric)
3. Money Penny Goes For Broke
4. Le Chiffre's Torture of the Mind
5. Home James, Don't Spare the Horses
6. Sir James' Trip to Find Mata
7. The Look Of Love (instrumental)
8. Hi There Miss Goodthighs
