Bitches Brew (Bend) Miles Davis $21.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
The mercurial Bitches Brew is thought by many to be one of the most revolutionary albums in jazz history, having virtually created the genre known as jazz-rock fusion. Miles adds to his In A Silent Way concept here with soprano saxophone, bass clarinet, additional drums and percussion, plus African, Indian and Brazilian instruments. The result was unlike any music heard before or since. A complete rejection of traditional songs, chord progressions, or even melodic conventions, the album signified that music could be just layers of texture and sound. Bitches Brew is not just an important recording, it's an essential one!

Naam (Bend) Naam $17.99
Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed PRE-ORDER
Naam manifests a signature brand of super-sonic and ultimately mesmerizing heavy psychedelia. Trance-like and punishing at times, this trio of psychonauts molds elements of classic psychedelia and prog with modern elements of jam-heavy bliss and apocalyptic amplitude. Naam's self-titled debut is more so an aural-intoxicating odyssey than an album. In its increasingly dark and sinister progression, the album depicts an unholy spiritual journey in the search for a higher plane of enlightenment.
Track Listing:
1. Kingdom
2. Stone Ton
3. Skyling Slip
4. Fever If Fire
5. Tidal Barrens
6. Icy Row
7. Westered Wash

Prairie Wind is an adventure akin to taking a drive through one's own
life stopping off to revisit old friends and loved ones along the
way. For Neil Young fans this album delivers
songs that instantly stick in your mind as familiar. Tunes like
"Falling Off The Face Of The Earth" and "The Painter" evoke thoughts
of introspection that remind us of our humanity and its ultimate
fragility. "No Wonder" feels like
a early 70's anthem applied to more recent events while "Far From
Home", with its bluesy harmonic interludes and horn accompaniment,
tells a story of fond reminiscence of childhood and growing up.
"It's A Dream" incites one to confront how fleeting our surroundings
are and ,in a sense, the desire to have them remain as more than
"just a memory without anywhere to stay". The title track weaves
the same bluesy harmonica and horn section with a group backup
singers to create an eerie and evocative scene. Neil Young has
created in "Here for You" possibly the ultimate love song with a pace
and harmonica rifts reminiscent of Bob Dylan in the mid 60's if he'd
been in Nashville. "This Old Guitar" is a masterful story of life
that is impossible not to relate to in one way or another and
features a great backing vocal from Emmy Lou Harris making this tune
even more special. "He Was King" is clearly a tribute to Elvis
which harkens back to an easier time. The final track "When God Made
Me" asks the questions about our humanity we all ponder at some time
in our lives. This is an album, dedicated to his father that Neil
Young made for himself, his friends and family and is giving, as a
gift, to the rest of us. We can all benefit from the insights
contained here and possibly gain some important perspectives on life
- thanks Neil.
Classic Records, in cooperation with Reprise Records and Neil Young are proud to present "Prairie Wind" as a
Deluxe 2 LP gatefold edition. Included is an 18 page 12" x 12"
booklet with lyrics and photos printed with soy based inks on paper
that is from sustainable forests and Rain Forest Alliance certified.
The LP mastering and cutting was done at Bernie Grundman Mastering in
Hollywood by Chris Bellman using the original 1/2" analog master
tapes with plating and pressing on Classic's proprietary 200g QUIEX
Super Vinyl Profile at RTI. The sound is, to put it bluntly, without
compare and sets a new standard for sonic achievement. Is this Grammy worthy? You bet it is.
As an added bonus, side 4 of the set is an interview with Neil
discussing guitars, equipment, music, musicians and musical arrangers
among others things. Not to be missed!

By the end of the Fifties Muddy Waters had become famous enough to release a record with his own name on the cover. But that it was to be a 'Best of' album was certainly a surprise because the ink had hardly dried on his recording contract with Chess. It was as though the producers had known that with such titles as 'Hoochie Coochie (Man)', 'Honey Bee' and 'I Want You To Love Me Muddy' had come up with blues music which would provide him and numerous cover bands with material for years to come. In those days Waters’ blues did not bow to any particular fashion of the times. Dry and raw, he tells his tales to the crystal-clear, metallic sound of the electric guitar. A rhythm group builds the foundation, the melodic counterpart to the vocals is provided by the harp with cuttingly sharp intrusions or whimpering background. Nothing more is needed to experience a truly original blues feeling and one can be both sad and happy that such authentic blues music is available only on record. That’s how it was in the Seventies, when Chess released a remake of this record. Now here is the 'original'!

The Band (Bend) The Band $18.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
The Band's 1979 eponymous release is in many ways more deliberate and even more accomplished than their debut, partially due to the fact that guitarist Robbie Robertson had taken over the songwriting, writing or co-writing all 12 songs. The album effectively mixes the kind of mournful songs like "Whispering Pines" and "When You Awake," that had dominated Music from Big Pink, with rollicking uptempo numbers like "Rag Mama Rag" and "Up on Cripple Creek." Again, the groups' overall sound stands out the most, with their timeless arrangements and expressive singing from Manuel, Helm and Danko. Music from Big Pink is a classic in its own right, but The Band stands as their masterpiece.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is without question Wilco’s most storied and experimental release. Produced by the band and mixed by Jim O’Rourke, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot finds the Chicago-based band stretching their creative boundaries, imbuing their trademark sound with inventive textures and song structures. Vocalist/guitarist Jeff Tweedy’s stirring songwriting commingles with a unique and eclectic sonic approach here that is stirringly emotional and beautifully mysterious. From the poignant opener “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" to the stark and powerful "Ashes of American Flags" to the giddy pop of "Heavy Metal Drummer," Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is an ambitious original that no one should be without.
This 180-gram Double Vinyl LP version also includes a bonus CD of the entire album. Do not miss this: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is a must-have for any music fan.
"Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is an American Classic." -Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune, April 2002
"Yankee's chromatic harmonies and sinous rhythmic phrases build and press against communication issues confronting us in the 21st century, and inquire: With unabated media interference and technological glut, how do we effectively communicate matters of the heart? Is what we are saying really being heard, and if so, who is listening?" -Bob Gendron, The Absolute Sound, April 2002
"In Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Tweedy, bassist John Stirratt, keyboard-guitar player Leroy Bach and drummer Glenn Kotche actually bring you the enchanting sound of things falling apart--and gingerly, doggedly coming together again. This is an honest, vivid chaos, and it tells a good story." -David Fricke, Rolling Stone, April 2002

Recorded in 1968 when the Belfast-bred, blues-rock music legend Van Morrison was just 22 years old, Astral Weeks immediately received critical acclaim and continues to be cited as one of the greatest albums of all time. On November 7 and 8, 2008, four decades later, at the age 63, Van Morrison revisited Astral Weeks live in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl, and delivered a jawdropping, awe-inspiring performance. Morrison did not simply re-create what he did 40 years ago in a NY studio, but instead took the songs to a dramatically higher contemporary level. The jazz-rooted compositions of Astral Weeks are poetic stories of young love and the quest to find one's place in life. They were, and remain, ideal source material for musical improvisation that gives way to the sense of wonder for which Morrison has always striven.
The concerts marked the first time Morrison ever performed Astral Weeks in one complete concert set. Joining him was an orchestral string section and a band composed of world-class musicians, some of whom played with Van on the original Astral Weeks sessions 40 years ago.
"The Hollywood Bowl concerts gave me a welcome opportunity to perform these songs the way I originally intended them to be," says Morrison, who amazingly held only one rehearsal prior to the concerts. "There are certain dynamics you can get in live recordings that you just cannot get in a studio recording. I love listening to live recordings. You get the whole thing right there, unabridged, raw and in the moment. There was a distinct alchemy happening on that stage in Hollywood. I felt it."

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the musical companion to the upcoming Columbia Pictures/Mandate Pictures film. The album features tracks from some of indie rock's best and brightest, including Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, We Are Scientists, Bishop Allen, Devendra Banhart along with artists like Richard Hawley, The Real Tuesday Weld and the late, great Chris Bell. The soundtrack also features a previously unreleased tune from L.A.- based newcomers Army Navy, and an exclusive selection from the film's score, performed by its legendary composer, Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO).
Based on the popular novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist was directed by Peter Sollett. It's a comedy about two people thrust together for one hilarious, sleepless night of adventure in a world of mixtapes, late-night living and live, loud music. The film stars Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad, Arrested Development) and Kat Dennings (The 40 Year Old Virgin, The House Bunny)
