Fallen is the 9th studio album from Burzum, and follows the highly critically acclaimed 2010 release Belus which put Burzum straight back at the top of the chain as one of the most innovative and creative metal artists of our time. Fallen follows Belus in sound and structure, and can also be compared to the music on the groundbreaking DET SOM ENGANG VAR. Fallen is more dynamic and hard hitting then Belus and has an even bigger sound, but still carries the same trademark melody lines throughout that make Burzum sound so iconic and unique. Burzum says of the new album and his style of music: "Musically FALLEN is like a cross between BELUS and something new, inspired more by the debut album DET SOM ENGANG VAR than by HVIS LYSET TAR OSS or FILOSOFEM. The sound is more dynamic we mastered the album as if it was classical music and I was more experimental than I was on BELUS in all respects. Lyric-wise it is similar to the debut album, in the way that it is more personal and focuses on existential issues, but the mythological undertone known from BELUS is still there. I have also included some ambient tracks - a short introduction and a longer conclusion."

Filosofem (somber) is the fifth album from Varg Vikernes, recorded right before he was imprisoned for the murder of Mayhem's guitarist/leader Euronymous. The album expands on the synth/keyboard ideas put forth on Hvis Lyset Tar Oss, culminating in in the melancholy ode Dunkelheit, which was sort of a breakthrough song for this one-man band. Whereas the earlier Burzum albums still tended to reference traditional black metal, by the time of this recording Varg was off on a tangent by himself, and it shows in the chilling, otherworldly and occult melodies on display here. This also marks what was probably the true beginning of his obsession with minimalistic composing. Jesus' Tod, is an absolutely mesmerizing piece that centers around a single series of raw guitar riffs repeated until you are deeply lost inside the echoing hallways of this artist's iconoclastic genius for dark music. Many consider this recording to be his finest hour.

"From the Depths of Darkness" is a re-recording of tracks from the first two albums, "Burzum" and "Det Som Engang Var"
Inspired by the recording of "Belus" and in the middle of the process of writing "Fallen" Varg went into the studio in March 2010 and re-recorded a selected number of tracks from the early days of Burzum.
The result is a hard hitting and great sounding collection of tracks sounding the way Varg wanted the tracks to sound and to be heard by his dedicated fans and supporters.
Its an album that will cement the legacy of Burzum and that is dedicated to Pytten for his gratitude and perseverance in relation to Burzum.
Burzum says of the new album: "From the Depths of Darkness was recorded and decided to be released because I always meant that the original recordings didn't do justice to the music, and I wanted to hear the tracks as they were intended by me back in 1991 and 1992, when these tracks were made, and to share this with those interested."
