Without a doubt, soundtracks have been the field of experimention for innovative musicians around the world; France is no exception, but definitly has its own unique certain sound to offer: somewhere between French-Pop and Blaxploitation-reminiscences. On this compilation of French Soundtracks from mainly the '60s and '70s (only exception: "Grand théme Malko" from 1982), we cover the whole spectrum; from pulsating thriller-beats to relaxed sexy grooves. The line-up of first class composers reads as follows: Jean Yanne, Francis Lai, Georges Garvarentz, Michel Magne, Claude Bolling and many more pump the "French touch" out of your speakers! Mysterious, sexy, or just plain funky (thank god for various disco scenes) are the tracks featured on this compilation. Percussive rhythms, wild organs, psychedelic flutes, sitars and various electronic sounds will do the rest to spoil the advanced listener. The result is this explosive cocktail of casual grooves and orchestral thriller-themes!

Remastered 180-Gram Pressing Cut from Original Master Tapes by Bernie Grundman and Pressed at RTI. This is THE Definitive Version of the Life-Altering 1991 Blockbuster Album!
Pressed on Dead-Quiet Blue-Colored Virgin Vinyl and Limited to Only 4000 Copies Worldwide!
Few records changed the world. Nirvana's Nevermind is one of them. Released in September 1991, the well-produced yet emotionally raw album catapulted grunge into the mainstream and forever altered the popular musical landscape, turning Nirvana into household names and singer Kurt Cobain into the reluctant spokesperson of his generation. By year’s end, Seattle-based music, fashion, and attitude consumed popular consciousness. Nevermind had restored the gritty passion, rebellious mentality, and cathartic power long missing from mainstream rock. Call it the mighty sword that in one swoop fell the excess, plasticity, and emptiness of 80s music.
The record’s impact is also be measured by the success of its singles. Named by Rolling Stone as the #9 Best Song of All Time, the anthemic “Smells Like Teen Spirit” became an institution on radio stations and MTV. Subsequent singles “Come As You Are,” “Lithium,” and “In Bloom” also testified to the genius of the soft-loud arrangements and whip-smart commentary on Nevermind, which at its core was a blockbuster pop album in punk clothing.
More than ten million copies later, the record has only picked up more accolades, having been included at or near the top of nearly every major publication’s Greatest Albums list. Nevermind is listed as:
#1 in Spin’s 90 Greatest Albums of the 90s
#1 Album of the Year in Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop Poll
#6 in Pitchfork’s Top 100 Albums of the 1990s
#17 in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time
#1 in Entertainment Weekly’s Best Albums of the 90s
In addition to the groundbreaking music, sound quality has always been among the album’s finest aspects. Cleanly produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Andy Wallace, Nevermind features explosive dynamics, bursting tones, and a wide-open midrange. While Cobain later disparaged the sound as being too polished, the truth was that the room-filling sound allowed the record to grab the attention of anyone within earshot. Much imitated but never equaled, the sound became the template that nearly every band requested be put on their albums.
And it has never sounded better. Cut for ORG from the original master tapes by Bernie Grundman and pressed on blue-colored 180-gram virgin vinyl at RTI, ORG’s Limited Edition Collector’s Version is THE definitive edition of this masterpiece. WE GUARANTEE THIS BEATS EVERY PREVIOUS PRESSING. Dave Grohl’s titantic drumming, Cobain’s gut-wrenching screams and distortion-packed guitar riffs, and Krist Novoselic’s loopy bass lines all feature life-size imaging and incredible presence. Do not pass this up!

In Utero Nirvana $29.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
A reactionary statement to the phenomenal commercial success of Nevermind, In Utero remains Nirvana’s most noisy, caustic, uncompromised, and aggressive album. It’s also the band’s best, a brilliant combination of contagious hooks, feedback-drenched squalls, bruised beauty, and biting lyrical wit intended to blindside causal listeners with raw emotion, difficult listening, and painful honesty. Rife with medical imagery and references to disease, sickness, decay, and dismay, In Utero is the distraught sound of personal catharsis and unyielding trauma. More revealingly, the record doubles as a haunting foreshadowing of singer Kurt Cobain’s suicide that took place just months after its release.
Unhappy with the high-gloss production and pop-based arrangements on Nevermind, Nirvana set out to make a harsher album that would literally alienate millions. While the trio succeeded in its goal of getting intimate with blistering dissonance and acerbic tones, In Utero resonated with the public, debuting at #1 on the Billboard charts and ultimately selling more than four million copies. Echoing John Lennon, Cobain’s piercing songwriting spoke to the disaffected masses that shared his anguish and set new standards for ironic depth that still stand. For every unsettling screed (“Serve the Servants,” “Milk It,” “Radio Friendly Unit Shifter,” “Tourettes”) there are introspective moments of folk-inspired elegance (“All Apologies,” “Pennyroyal Tea,” “Dumb”) that hint at the direction in which Nirvana was headed.
In Utero is equally legendary for the controversies involving its production. Originally helmed by Steve Albini, an engineer known for capturing live ambience and natural tones, the album was eventually remixed by Scott Litt after the group complained about the vocal sound. While the exact specifics of what party demanded the redo remain blurry, the finished results are staggering, with the added harmonies, better bass definition, and vocal volume boosts achieving an ideal balance that satisfied the band’s wishes. Now, you can hear it like never before.
Cut for ORG from the original master tapes by Bernie Grundman and pressed on colored 180-gram virgin vinyl at RTI, ORG’s Limited Edition Collector’s Version is the definitive edition of this masterpiece. WE GUARANTEE THIS BEATS EVERY PREVIOUS PRESSING. Do not pass up this rare chance to own the Nirvana classic that NPR “Sound Opinions” radio co-host Jim DeRogatis named the best alternative rock album of the 90s!

With Freedom of Choice, Devo completed their transition into a full-fledged synth-pop group, producing a musically cohesive album spawning hits like the breakthrough hit "Whip It," "Girl U Want," and "Gates Of Steel." Synthesizers were fully integrated into the band's sound, frequently dominating the arrangements sharing equal time with the guitars. Everything is played with a cool, polished precision that mirrors the stylized uniformity of the band's visuals; the dissonance is more subdued than in the past, and the rhythms lock the band into a rigidly even keel.
Warner Bros. Records released six of Devo's classic albums between the years of 1978 and 1984. To mark the band's new deal, the label will reissue limited-edition colored vinyl versions of Devo's 1978's gold debut Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! and 1980's platinum favorite Freedom of Choice, as well as a seven-inch vinyl single of "Jocko Homo/Mongoloid."
The day the reissues are released, Devo will launch a series of very special live performances in select markets (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Washington D.C., New York City, and Toronto), during which they will play back-to-back nights in each city. One the first night, the band will perform Are We Not Men? in its entirety; on the second night, they will perform Freedom of Choice in its entirety. As a bonus, fans who purchase tickets online to any one of these concerts will receive three demos recently uncovered in the Devo vaults. The three previously unreleased versions, "Whip It," "Red Shark" (later re-titled "It's Not Right" and recorded with different lyrics), and "Turn Around," were all recorded on a four-track in the band's rehearsal space at Modern Music in Hollywood, CA.

As part of the numerous compilations issued in conjunction with the major television documentary series The Blues, this is a collection of blues-oriented Hendrix recordings. There is a previous compilation of Hendrix's blues-oriented work in 1994, simply titled Blues. There is little repetition between Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues and Blues, though, and it works as a decent grouping of some of his bluesiest recordings for those listeners who want to plunge especially deeply into one facet of his repertoire. "Red House" and "Voodoo Chile" are by far the most celebrated tracks here. The fine Earl King cover "Come On (Let the Good Times Roll)" (from Electric Ladyland) is the only other song that came out in Hendrix's lifetime The other selections vary from inspired ("Hear My Train a Comin'," recorded in early 1969 with the original Jimi Hendrix Experience lineup, and a solo "Midnight Lightning") to straight ahead jams, with Hendrix's imaginative virtuosity and affinity for the blues evident. This being a posthumous Hendrix release, it couldn't be complete without a couple of previously unissued tracks to tempt the completists, Those are the 1969 outtakes "Georgia Blues," on which Hendrix is actually more like a backing musician for Lonnie Youngblood (who takes lead vocals), and "Blue Window," a nearly 13-minute outing that gives vent to his jazzier tendencies, the arrangement also featuring organ, three saxophones, and two trumpets. The liner notes about Jimi's blues record collecting habits by mid-'60s girlfriend Faye Pridgon are pretty cool. A must for Hendrix LP lovers.

On It's Not Me, It's You, Lily's characteristically sharp observations find expression in a variety of musical styles, with influences ranging from the Jazz Era to country and western to dance music. Highlights include "Everyone's at It," a synth-pop song about prescription drugs; "He Wasn't There," a jazz groove song about her absentee father; and "Not Fair," a saucy country song about an inadequate lover.

Where can you hear the sound of Kanye West and Santogold colliding? Or Tom Waits and Kool Keith? The story of N.A.S.A. (an acronym for North America/South America) goes back five and a half years when Squeak E. Clean (Sam Spiegel) and DJ Zegon (Ze Gonzales) met in Sao Paulo, Brazil and were instantly drawn together over their mutual love for rare Brazilian funk and soul records. They decided to share their experience and create a record that similarly brought people together from different musical genres, races, religions, politics, countries and languages. In order to fully-realize their mission the two created some of the most unique musical pairings ever recorded, all within the backdrop of Brazilian funk. The result is The Spirit of Apollo, connecting people as diverse as David Byrne and Chuck D, or Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Ol' Dirty Bastard, the latter two singing together on the late hip-hop star’s last known recorded track. Includes a digital download card for entire album.

GNV FLA (Colored Vinyl) Less Than Jake $18.99
180 Gran Audiophile Virgin Colored Vinyl - Sealed
With Bonus 7" Vinyl
With their ninth album GNV FLA, named in honor of their hometown of Gainesville, Florida, Less Than Jake reverts back to the roots of what has made them ska-punk icons. Musically, GNV FLA is a return to form and it revisits the traditional Less Than Jake trademark sound of horn driven, bouncy ska grooves. Produced by Matt Allison (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, The Falcon) at Atlas Studios in Chicago. The record is due out on the band's own Sleep It Off Records and it's their first non-major label album since 2000's Borders and Boundaries.
The roots of Chamberlain are planted in the Indianapolis band Split Lip, a juggernaut of the Midwestern hardcore scene between 1991 and 1995. Signed to Doghouse Records when its members were scarcely able to drive, Split Lip (singer David Moore, guitarists Adam Rubenstein and Clay Snyder, bassist Curtis Mead and drummer Charles Walker) released the now impossible-to-find "Soulkill" single in 1992, followed by its debut album For the Love of the Wounded in 1993. The band gained a sizable following via constant touring, and through Doghouse's strong European distribution ties, established an overseas fan base that would allow for a successful 1996 European visit. When Rubenstein began college at Indiana University in 1995, his band mates moved south from Indianapolis to Bloomington and continued working on new material. Fate's Got A Driver was released in 1995 and supported with a lengthy U.S. tour, but the band opted to change its name to Chamberlain as its music began to mature beyond the hardcore leanings of its younger days. A short-lived distribution deal with English label For All the Right Reasons followed.
Now 14 years after Fate's Got A Driver's initial release, this long out of print title is available on a new colored vinyl special edition reissue. It includes rarities, live tracks and never before released content.

Brian Olive's name first came into the public eye as a founding guitarist/singer of the Greenhornes, and later as a member of the Soledad Brothers, for whom he provided saxophone and sundries under the pseudonym of Oliver Henry. However, unlike those prior genre-specific endeavors, this album, his self-titled debut, is a breakout multicolored affair that takes musical and lyrical cues from the British psychedelic '60s, as well as the soul-pop hit factories of Memphis, and wanders through the erstwhile streets of the Ninth Ward.
The sessions took place in Cincinnati, in what was once the basement vault of a pawn shop, and were produced, recorded and mixed on analog tape by Brian himself. Beside playing guitar, woodwind and piano, Olive is accompanied on the album by friends Jared McKinney and Craig Fox of the Greenhornes, Mike Weinel, formerly of the Heartless Bastards, and Dan Allaire who did time with the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Olive also sings lead and is backed by the Kadish Sisters with Donna Jay, a vocal trio brought together in the studio for the occasion.

Ben Harper's promising debut album, Welcome to the Cruel World, lays a strong foundation from which the talented singer/songwriter would build upon with subsequent releases. "Like a King" and "Take That Attitude to Your Grave" burn with the political conviction and "Forever" demonstrates a tenderness and emotional range, qualities that would become cornerstones of Harper's music. The album is highlighted by the song "I'll Rise" which was built around Maya Angelou's 1979 poem And Still I Rise. Limited Edition 180g vinyl with bonus colored 7".

Released on Bomp in 1977, Kill Ciy captures Iggy Pop in a rare moment of vulnerability and few can argue that in terms of the quality of material and the strength of Iggy's voice, that this is indeed an overlooked achievement. Kill City opened the door to the wealth of other rare Stooges material that followed. It's also unique in Iggy's career, coming from a period following the breakup of the Stooges when his life was in disarray and his songs, as a result, expressed a personal angst never quite equaled again. The vinyl version has been out of print for a couple of years and this new pressing is on pink vinyl, limited to 800 copies.

Recorded in November 1993, less than six months before singer Kurt Cobain killed himself, Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged is a watershed document that presents a band at the peak of its powers. Unlike any other “unplugged” affair, the diverse album is not a simple stripped-down regurgitation of greatest hits or a cash-it-in set of nostalgic favorites. Rather, the live effort is among the most emotionally naked spectacles ever released—an album so starkly intense and profoundly personal, it’s impossible not to get chills down the spine.
Such intimacy and wide-range dynamics are reasons why to seek out the best-ever pressing of this detailed gem. And we happen to be able to satisfy your needs. Hear the soft pitter-patter of drummer Dave Grohl’s delicate brushwork, the shape of each hushed note coming from Cobain’s guitar, and every inhale and exhale of Cobain’s voice from a stunning, up-close perspective that puts the band onstage in your room.
Made primarily with acoustic instruments—Grohl even trades sticks for brushes, Krist Novoselic picks up an accordion, and cellist Lori Goldston prominently figures in the arrangements—Unplugged in New York reveals Nirvana’s folksier side and clear ambition to move beyond abrasive rock. The setlist is as surprising as the stylistic makeover. Save for renditions of “All Apologies” and “Come As You Are,” the adventurous material includes brooding covers of the Meat Puppets' “Lake of Fire,” “Plateau,” and “Oh Me” as well as harrowing versions of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World,” and the Vaselines’ “Jesus Don’t Want Me for a Sunbeam.”
And then there’s the heart-shattering climax. Intensely private and disturbingly primal, Nirvana’s rendition of the Leadbelly standard “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” takes its place among the most cathartic songs ever committed to record. It’s the musical equivalent of the insides of Cobain’s soul being ripped out and put out display for all to see.
Hurry! Limited to 4000 copies worldwide, these will go fast. Do not pass up this chance to own the Nirvana swan song that Rolling Stone named one of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time!
