Stop Drop and Roll Foxboro Hot Tubs (Green Day) $18.99
Vinyl LP + CD - Sealed
Release Date: June 2008
New Green Day Side Project!
Fans awaiting a new Green Day record are about to get one. The Bay Area punks have revealed that the 50s-style garage band called the Foxboro Hot Tubs is in fact the rock superstars working under a pseudonym. The band takes on a different aesthetic here though as the sound and the songs are more reminiscient of classic garage bands like the Animals and the Kinks. Their first full length album is entitled Stop Drop And Roll.
"We think that the only similarity (between the Hot Tubs and Green Day) is that we are the same band. That is basically the only similarity," explained a Hot Tubs spokesman. "We are Jason White, Jason Freese, Michael Pritchard, Frank Edwin Wright the Third and the Reverend Strychnine Twitch. We are four guys who love to play music and be spontaneous, (and) after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings."
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt's real name is Michael Pritchard, and drummer Tre Cool was born Frank Edwin Wright III. Strychnine Twitch is the alter ego Armstrong has adopted for the project. Freese and White have both played on Green Day's recent albums, and White is also a member of Armstrong's other side project, Pinhead Gunpowder.
This vinyl package contains one regular-weight black-vinyl disc pressed at Rainbo in a Stoughton single pocket jacket with a bonus CD in a paper sleeve.

From the debut single "Longview" to "Basket Case," "When I Come Around," "J.A.R." and "Minority," International Superhits! is a retrospective that confirms that Green Day are not only one of the most popular American rock bands for good reason, but that they can hold their own against their idols.

This is where the garage punk-pop revival began. Before Nirvana and Nevermind, there was Green Day and the 1991 indie-released 39/Smooth. MTV, multiplatinum albums and massive critical acclaim were still in the distance at this point. 39/Smooth was a three chord explosion of unfettered, even goofy, energy and passion. Previously out of print, this elusive album, now reissued for the first time on a major label, marks the genesis of modern rock. The earliest offering from what has become one of the biggest acts in the world today.

In anticipation of Green Day's upcoming new release, 21st Century Breakdown, Reprise Records has announced it will be reissuing the band's entire catalog on vinyl throughout 2009.
The Berkeley pop-punks' 1995 album Insomniac was their fourth release overall and follow-up to their breakthrough major label debut Dookie. With Insomniac the group took everything that was great about its predecessor, i.e. its simplicity, hooks, lack of pretension and disdain for authority, and upped the ante with darker motifs and heavier songs. It resulted in a quality collection of uncompromising punk rock with breakneck drumming, pounding bass, catchy riffs and snot-nosed vocals.

Green Day is an American rock band comprising three core members: Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, lead vocals), Mike Dirnt (bass) and Tré Cool (drums).
Green Day was originally part of the punk rock scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. Their early releases for independent label Lookout! Records earned them a grassroots fanbase, some of whom felt alienated when the band signed to a major label. Nevertheless, their major label debut Dookie became a breakout success in 1994 and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. alone. As a result, Green Day was widely credited, along with fellow California punk bands The Offspring and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in and popularizing punk music in the United States. Green Day's immediate follow-up albums didn't achieve the massive success of Dookie, but they were still successful. Their 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band's popularity, selling 5 million copies in the U.S.
The band has sold over 50 million records worldwide,[5] Their success has influenced prominent pop punk bands such as Sum 41 and Good Charlotte.[3] Green Day currently have three Grammy Awards under their belt for Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, and Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."
