True Rock 'n Roll doesn’t require definition. It’s self-explanatory and based on a gut feeling and the unconditional devotion to this musical genre. Nashville Pussy have celebrated their brand of genuine Rock 'n Roll for more than a decade, in classic style at times, surprising at others, but always earthy, raw and unadulterated. Band mastermind Blaine Cartwright (vocals, guitar), his wife Ruyter Suys (guitar), Karen Cuda (bass) and Jeremy Thompson (drums) spent three years working on their latest rock release, From Hell To Texas. In those three years the band honed their most impressive recording to date alongside their many live activities, from Australia, Brazil, Japan, Europe and most recently almost a year straight with the Reverend Horton Heat all over North America. “We allowed ourselves this time to give the songs the chance to turn out as perfect as possible”, Cartwright explains. The blistering results speak for themselves. Recorded at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio in Texas on the same two-inch tape machine which Willie used to cut all his legendary albums. Rumors have been making the rounds for months that the master himself (and allegedly also Lemmy of Motörhead) lent his voice to the track “Lazy Jesus.” There's no other way to put it: From Hell To Texas is simply ass-kicking Rock 'n Roll from one of America's finest, now on long play, vinyl format.

Following the release of 1986's heavy metal classic Peace Sells But Who's Buying?, half of Megadeth's original line-up abruptly split. Formed in 1995 in upstate New York, Burning Human released a 7 song demo tape entitled Death Is Mercy which contained songs that were later released on the compilation We The People: A Compilation of Upstate NYs Hardest. Jason Sunkes continued on in bands such as Stigmata, Dead Rabbits and Great Day For Up, while Jason Bittner, hailed as one of the top drummers in metal today, eventually hooked up with New England thrash metallers Shadows Fall.

Now, resurrected from the ashes in 2008 by Bittner, Burning Human has completed their first full length album with legendary guitar player James Murphy (Obituary, Death, Testament, Disincarnate) who produced and mixed the album at his SafeHouse Productions Studios. Murphy himself adds several solos to what is a deadly helping of traditional death metal in its purest form.

Shifting from a serene and uplifting aural setting to an absolutely soul-crushing Broadrick-esque industrial nightmare, Nadja is a beast of many faces.

Primitive North offers the best of both worlds, as volatile remixes also accompany the original works. Each band has reconfigured the other's material, resulting in re-workings that complement the original songs perfectly. Adding to all of this is stunning original artwork by Graham, packaged in a beautiful five-color gatefold sleeve with a CD version of the same material. Last but not least, the flipside of the remix disc has laser-etched artwork, taking the whole concept of a split release to the next level.

Betimes Black Cloudmasses is the highly-anticipated second album from Vincent De Roguin (Shora), Stephen O'Malley (SUNN0))), KTL), and Daniel O'Sullivan (Guapo). Like their genre- and audience-confounding debut Deep In Ocean Sunk the Lamp of Light, Betimes is an atmospheric, constantly changing piece that encompasses a mind-boggling array of different performance and processing techniques. The deeply psychedelic and moving results present a soundstage that is continually evolving, with new elements entering and leaving the fray every couple of seconds.

Betimes includes significant contributions from free percussionists Nicolas Field and Alex Babel, who sprinkle the sound field with an almost FMP-style rush of splattering drum sound, raising the intensity of the music (without resorting to bashing). The album also features a brief but affecting vocal from Ulver mastermind Kristoffer Rygg, who made his first live appearance in over a decade when Aethenor played the Roadburn Festival in April 2008. Aethenor's third LP, featuring vocals and lyrics by David Tibet, will be released in Autumn 2008.

Faking Gold and Murder is the third Earth-shattering full-length by Vincent De Roguin (Shora), Stephen O'Malley (Sunn0))), KTL) and Daniel O'Sullivan (Guapo). This time, the core trio is joined by percussionists Nicolas Field and Alex Babel, as well as renowned guitarist Alexander Tucker and the inimitable David Tibet.

AEthenor's heaviest outing yes is driven by a weighty low-end and the full fury of Babel and Field's free-wheeling drums. The band's electronics, guitar, Rhodes, and organ ride waves of sound in a tightly-controlled blare, leaving plenty of space for Tibet's declarations of the mystical and supernatural. Tibet is in top form, rising out of the tempest at just the right moment, almost plain-spoken in places-- grounding the squall at times, voicing the apocalypse at others.

1973’s Who Do We Think We Are was another platinum plus venture for Deep Purple. While always being on top of their game, with multi-smash albums and huge arena concert tours, this was the last album to feature the legendary line-up of Ian Gillian, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Ian Paice and Jon Lord.

Friday Music kicks things off on their Deep Purple 180g audiophile series with Who Do We Think We Are which has been mastered from the original Warner Bros. tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and Capitol Mastering in Hollywood, CA.

Sunn O))) is proud to present their 7th studio album, after 10 years of existence, entitled Monoliths & Dimensions. The album showcases the core guitar duo, Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson, incorporating influences from a plethora of guest musicians, bringing the Sunn O))) sound to epic new levels. The band also collaborated with composer Eyvind Kang (notable for his work with John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell, etc.) on various acoustic ensembles, in addition to the Helios fueled electric guitars and basses. Key players on the album include Australian guitar genius Oren Ambarchi, enigmatic Hungarian vocalist Attila Csihar (Mayhem, Tormentor, etc.) and slow music godfather Dylan Carlson (Earth), as well as a brass section: Steve Moore (of Earth), Julian Priester (worked with Sun Ra in the 50s, John Coltrane’s African Brass band, and Herbie Hancock’s Sextant band) and new-music horn player Stuart Dempster. There’s also an upright bass trio, French & English horns, harp & flute duo, piano, reed & strings ensembles, and a Viennese woman’s choir led by Persian vocal savant Jessika Kenney.

The album is not “Sunn O))) with strings” or “metal meets orchestra” material. The band took an approach concentrating on more of allusion toward the timbre of feedback and the instruments involved, so the piece is really illusory, beautiful and not entirely linear, stating that the end product is “the most musical piece we’ve done, and also the heaviest, powerful and most abstract set of chords we’ve laid to tape” The album was recorded and mixed by Randall Dunn and Mell Dettmer.
