 Cork Record Mat
Music Hall
$49.99
Music Hall Cork Record Mat
|
Kick out the jams with our new cork record mat. Instruments pop to life. Crackle is reduced. Vocals are clearer and more dramatic. The background is quieter, soundstage wider and deeper. How does this thing work? The secret is in the 12 isolation discs surrounding the outside of the mat and the single larger disc for the center label. The discs lift and support the record while floating it above and decoupling it from the platter. This lowers record vibration and reduces acoustic feedback. Stylus tracking is improved and record wear reduced. The mat eliminates the grunge and leaves behind a rich, clear, dynamic sound.
Cork is the perfect material. It sucks up unwanted vibrations and releases the life and energy of the music. It’s naturally non-static and non-adhesive making the mat perfectly safe for use on all platters and it won’t harm your records. Cork grips the record better than felt so there’s less record slippage and fewer timing errors. The mat is thin, lightweight, and generally doesn’t require a VTA adjustment. Listen for yourself, the improvement is easy to hear.

 MMF 11.1
Music Hall
$4,495.00
MMF 11.1 Turntable
|
The music hall mmf-11.1 turntable, our latest flagship, is a 2-speed belt driven audiophile turntable featuring the unique quadruple-plinth construction originated by music hall. The distinctive design isolates the critical sound reproducing components each on their own plinth. The tonearm is mounted to the upper plinth and the inverted ceramic main bearing is mounted to the second plinth allowing the partially sunken 1 1/2" acrylic platter to spin freely. Moving the main bearing to the second plinth improved cartridge tracking and significantly lowered background noise. The adjustable magnetic-levitation isolation feet, microprocessor speed control, motors, flywheel, and wiring are all mounted to the bottom plinth. The motors, flywheel, and speed control are further isolated on their own vibration damped dual-plinth platform, which is separately isolated from the upper three main plinths. Sorbothane hemispheres separate each of the three main plinths and provide additional vibration damping. The bottom plinth functions as a mass-loaded resonant sink for the entire turntable. Two motors and a flywheel are used to increase torque and speed stability. The mmf-11.1 comes in a high-gloss piano black lacquer finish and ships without cartridge. A large encapsulating acrylic dustcover is included.

 USB Dac 25.3
Music Hall
$595.99
Music Hall USB DAC 25.3
|
We significantly upgraded the award winning dac25.2 to the dac25.3. The upgrade was to the USB input which now accepts 24bit/96kHz signals. The dac25.3 is natively compatible with Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 and Mac OS X.
Today an increasing number of music lovers are buying storing and listening to music through their computer, media server, or personal music player (iPod). Many are also digitally distributing their music using a sonos, squeezebox, or one of a host of digital music distribution systems available on the market. This is a great way to explore and appreciate music but generally it’s done at the expense of sound quality. Until now music lovers have been forced to rely on the inferior digital to analog converters (DACs) and sounds cards contained in those devices. As a result, their musical enjoyment has dramatically suffered. We designed the dac25.3 to directly address this problem and to significantly improve the sound quality of the music played on these systems.
By uniting a state of the art digital to analog converter with a tube output we produce the clarity and precision of a 24bit DAC with the warm rich open sound people love of tubes. The dac25.3 has 4 digital inputs which can accept any coax (s/pdif), optical, XLR (AES/EBU), or USB digital input from an iPod transport, computer, media server, sonos, squeezebox, CD/DVD in stereo transport, or music hall’s own cd35.2 compact disc player, and it will output two channel stereo analog.
The dac25.3 features the latest texas instruments (formerly burr-brown) PCM 1796 24bit/192kHz, advanced segment, stereo audio digital to analog converter. This processor features 123dB dynamic range an 8 x oversampling digital filter and just 0.0005% thd. The dac25.3 upsamples to either 96kHz or 192kHz which is user selectable on the front panel. To achieve the best sound we use an advanced asynchronous reclocking and anti jitter control system upstream of the PCM 1796 DAC. For this system we are using the philips 74HC574 in conjunction with the ti SRC4192 asynchronous sample rate converter whose master clock is a high precision active crystal oscillator. The dac25.3 also features a large r-core high current oversize power transformer. A headphone output is provided for convenient personal listening.

 Zerostat 3
Accessories
$100.99
|
In the laboratory the Milty Zerostat keeps film glass plastic ware and lenses dust and lint free. It also prevents charged particles from flying during weighting or transfer of particles. And the Zerostat gun finds wide use among those who possess and maintain phonograph record collections.
Each Zerostat unit is shipped with complete instructions and information about a special 'Test Procedure' to validate that the unit is working properly. Each Zerostat unit has a 'two cycle' type of operation, when the trigger is squeezed, positive ions are generated and when the trigger is relaxed, negative ions flow. This means that it is possible to induce a charge on a neutral surface using the Zerostat. If the trigger is squeezed and the Zerostat is then removed from the surface (before allowing the trigger to return to its original position) a positive charge will be induced. Similarly, pointing the Zerostat at the surface only for the release of the trigger will induce a negative charge.
Each squeeze of the trigger results in a discharge, when stated in units of charge, is 1.5 Coulombs. One can reasonably expect on the order of 10,000 such 'squeeze cycles' during the lifetime of the Zerostat. The Zerostat needs no batteries or electrical supply nor does it contain any radioactive components.
The Zerostat is lightweight highly portable and easy to control and handle.

 Hunt EDA Brush
Accessories
$30.99
Hunt EDA Brush
|
The Hunt EDA record cleaning brush contains over 1,000,000 anti static carbon fibers. The fibers are in two rows with a static grounding pad centered between. The grounding pad supports the tiny carbon fibers and keeps them erect so they can dig down deep into the groove and extract trapped dust. Look at a record. It contains microscopic undulations inside the groove wall smaller than a human hair that the naked eye cannot see. This is how music is stored on an LP. And this is why fat pads will not do. A fat pad can't get down into the groove. It simply brushes over the top and removes the surface dust. The real culprit is the dust that's trapped deep in the record groove. The only way to remove this dust is with the Hunt EDA. It's super easy to use. Don't push it down on the record simply support the back of the brush with your hand and let the brush's weight do the work. You want to keep those bristles erect not rolled over. The Hunt EDA comes with it's own support stand which also doubles as a cleaning tool. Slide the stand back and forth across the carbon fiber bristles to remove the dust. This will keep the carbon fibers clean and free from your messy hand oils. Use alone or ideally with a Zerostat gun. First, destat the record with the gun then use the Hunt EDA to brush the dust off. There is no finer dry record cleaning method.

 OBH-18 MM Phono Pre-amp
Accessories
$395.99
Creek Audio OBH-18 MM Phono Pre-amp
|
With modern amplifiers expected to cater for so many new devices, the phono capability has frequently been one of the features to disappear. At Creek Audio, the engineering team has always been aware of the benefits of vinyl - that is why the company continues to provide a number of phono stage options.
The OBH-18 was released in late 2003. The function of the OBH-18 is to boost the level and correct the frequency response of a low level signal coming from a moving magnet phono pick-up on a conventional turntable. The signal required by most modern amplifiers is described as being 'LINE' level, which is, in technical terms, between 200 and 500 milli-Volts with a flat frequency response. Unless your amplifier has a specific 'Phono' or Disc input, the level will be too low and the frequency response will be wrong. The OBH-18 is designed to boost the signal and introduce an R.I.A.A. frequency response characteristic.
The OBH-18 looks the part too! Designed to complement the Creek range of amplifiers, tuners and CD players, the new OBH range features an impressive solid aluminium front panel in a silver finish. The remainder of the 150mm casing is black so the products all but disappear.

 OBH-15 MM Phono Pre-amp

$450.99
Creek Audio OBH-15 MM Phono Pre-amp
|
With modern amplifiers expected to cater for so many new devices, the Phono capability has frequently been one of the features to disappear. Creek Audio has always been aware of the benefits of vinyl that is why the company continues to provide a number of Phono stage options.
The most recent addition to the Creek range is the OBH-15, combining moving magnet and moving coil Phono pre-amplifiers, into one diminutive chassis. Seriously impressive and offering audiophile performance, the new OBH-15 will augment any system.
The OBH-15 Phono pre-amp can now drive longer cables, due to its low output impedance. It has combined the high quality discrete semiconductor circuitry of the OBH-8 and OBH-9 input and gain stages, and added improved open loop gain by cascoding them, prior to the selector switch and combined passive RIAA circuit. Separate Burr-Brown professional grade low-noise op-amps are used for each channel, to buffer the output signal and provide a very low impedance drive to any pre-amp or integrated amplifier. The OBH-15 can switch from moving magnet to moving coil cartridges, via a simple push button on the rear panel. As it has two input circuits, optimised for each type of cartridge it allows for the connection of two turntables. A high gain MC version, for low output MC cartridges, is available to order.
The OBH-15 has a built-in high performance power supply regulator circuit which makes it immune from power supply fluctuations so, it can be used with the un-regulated OBH-1, 6 Watt power supply; but it will sound better with the regulated 12 Watt OBH-2, which is available as an option.
Internally, the OBH-15 has built to the highest standards using a glass-fibre double sided, plated through hole PCB and very high-grade components. The OBH-15 looks the part too! Designed to complement the Creek range of amplifiers, tuners and CD players, the new OBH range features an impressive 4mm thick solid aluminium front panel in a silver finish. The remainder of the 150mm deep extruded aluminium case is painted black, so the product all but disappears. This product is not eligible for discount.

 Epic 1 - Cherry
Epos Speakers
$599.99
Epos Epic 1 Speakers - Cherry
|
The Epic 1 is the smallest of the new Epic range of loudspeakers from Epos; designed to deliver big performance from a compact cabinet, but still hold true to Epos’s purist principles of simple crossover, well-behaved drive units and clean understated aesthetics.
At first glance, the Epic range harks back to an 80’s look, but with a modern twist. Epos uses a high-quality vinyl wood veneer to produce a high-end appearance whilst keeping the Epic’s entry-level price point in mind.
Uniquely, its front baffle design presents two surprisingly different faces. Straight out of the box the Epic 1 is supplied with an audiophile baffle with no visible fixing screws, grille-fixing holes or cloth. The baffle is machined around the woofer to create a gently contoured horn shape and, unlike a conventional grille frame; there are no added obstructions or sharp edges to cause reflections and sound colorations.
In the carton you will also find an optional cloth-covered grille. For those who don’t like looking at loudspeaker drivers, this is the ideal compromise. The spare grille has the same audible reflection-free advantages found in the ‘audiophile’ baffle, but elegantly hides the drivers under a fine acoustically transparent cloth, providing protection to the more delicate parts of the speaker.
The baffle on the Epic 1 can be changed in a unique way. The Illustration shows the baffle removal tool in use. With light pressure, the front baffle will detach allowing you to swap it as and when required.
The new tweeter has a low resonance frequency, high sensitivity and extended high frequency response. With its 25mm (one inch) fabric-dome, short horn, high-temperature ferro-fluid cooled voice-coil, and shielded neodymium magnet, it is capable of high output levels for extended periods without degradation to sound quality or itself.

Aktimate Micro Two-Way Speakers - Red
|
As the name suggests, this is the smallest speaker in the range, but certainly not lacking in dynamics! Nor is it tiny - it measures 145 x 200 x 240 mm.
Similar in design to its two larger siblings, it continues to feature the elegant concealed AktiMate dock in the top of the cabinet. This model has just two other inputs - a 3.5mm jack plus USB. Unlike the other two models, the USB connection in this speaker is designed for direct connection to a PC. A DAC has been incorporated which operates with the USB input.
We have chosen to use a Class D amplifier in the active speaker which puts out a very healthy 40 Watts!
There are a few other notable areas of change. We see the AktiMate Micro as a serious hi-fi desktop
speaker and for that reason we do not have any IR control. We also do not have a standby feature in this model - it is turned on and off from a switch on the rear panel. When on, a blue LED lights above the volume control on the right hand side at the front.
There is a matching control button on the left front which is an input selector. It is a three step switch moving from iPod to 3.5mm jack to USB. Out of the box the default position is iPod.
Both the woofer and tweeter are new designs. The tweeter is based on the new Epos Epic loudspeaker
range and the Kevlar woofer has been cloned from the AktiMate Mini.

 Destiny 2 Integrated Amp Silver
Creek Audio
$2,795.99
Destiny 2 Integrated Amp
|
The Destiny 2 amplifier is Creek's latest high-end model and represents a significant improvement over the original, highly respected, Destiny model. It uses all the sound optimization techniques and components collected by Mike Creek and his team of analogue electronics engineers during their many years in the Hi-Fi industry. It is designed to deliver enough power to suit a wide range of loudspeakers, including all models from Creek's sister company - Epos.
This stylish new amplifier is housed in an extruded aluminium case with fine brushed finish. It is available with either silver or black front panel and polished aluminium buttons, control knob and feet. It is designed to match the Destiny CD player and FM/AM tuner. All Creek products can be remotely controlled with a single SRC3 handset.
For the technically minded, here is an explanation of what makes the new Destiny amplifier so good:
Power Amp
Importantly, the Destiny 2 uses an evolution of the unique MOS-FET power output circuit, originally invented by Alex Nikitin when he worked for Creek Audio, which has now been in continuous use in many of Creek's high-end amplifiers since 1993. Further developed recently to take advantage of newly available power transistors, linearity and noise performance has been improved. In addition, its efficiency has been improved in a cunning way to boost its power output by 20% without increasing the size of the power supply. This clever circuit continues to outperform alternatives as it has a very flat distortion characteristic and produces very tube-like sound. Loudspeaker connection is controlled locally and by remote control by 2 x 8 Amp gold contact relays.
Power Supply
The Destiny 2 power supply continues to use a magnetically shielded 300VA toroidal transformer with separate windings for high and low current analogue circuit requirements. 2 separate low-loss Schottky diode bridge rectifiers are used to separate the main left and right channel power supplies. In a technique used to reduce the inductance and resistance of high value capacitors, Creek use a total of 10, relatively small, low impedance high temperature 2200uF capacitors paralleled together, in each channel, to provide a total reservoir of 44,000uF to achieve maximum channel isolation and excellent dynamics. A separate power supply feeds all low voltage circuits on the power amp and pre-amp. A 50VA auxiliary toroidal mains transformer powers the microcontroller management circuitry when in standby and all the digital circuitry, including relays, when fully powered which completely isolates the digital and analogue circuitry for best sonic performance. Using this technique, standby power consumption is also less than 1W to conform to European regulations.
Pre-Amp
The Destiny 2 has 4 unbalanced pre-amp inputs - Aux/Phono, CD, Tuner, Aux 2, plus a tape loop and AV Direct - to the power amp, selectable from the front panel by solid metal push buttons or from the remote handset. The amp also has a Pre-amp output and Tape output. Connection is via gold plated high-quality RCA connectors, selected by gold contact relays and indicated by blue LEDs on the front panel. The AV Direct input separates the pre-amp and power amplifier and passes the signal directly to the power amp, without the volume control in circuit. This is especially useful if the amp is used in both a combined 5.1 front channel and hi-fi system with one pair of speakers. The front panel also offers selectable active or passive pre-amp options with 3 gain settings in active mode, adjustable with a 3-way slider switch, located on the bottom of the case.
Volume Control
To maintain its purist principles the Destiny 2's volume level is adjusted locally and by remote control by a 20k Ohm motorized ALPS Blue Velvet potentiometer. Therefore, the audio signal travels directly to the power amp from the input socket and selector relay via the volume control and nothing else gets in the way to degrade the distortion or noise. This is the essence of a passive pre-amp. To maintain the pre-amp's isolation from outside influences, the tape circuitry is fully buffered. If pre-amp gain is required, the Destiny is able to introduce three levels of pre-amplification, by selecting the active option from the front panel or remote control.
Optional Phono Input
The Destiny 2 amp can be fitted with the new Sequel Phono plug-in board. This plugs into the pre-amp circuit board and is available in 2 settings - low and high MM. To maintain low noise performance for MC applications Creek recommends either the standalone OBH-15 or Wyndsor Phono pre-amplifier.
Headphone Output
Most types of dynamic headphones can be connected to the standard size 1/4" jack socket on the front panel for high performance reproduction. Loudspeaker connections are available for 2 pairs of speakers. 8 extremely strong, touch-proof binding posts are bolted to the rear panel and are selected either from the front panel buttons or remote control.
Protection
The Destiny 2 uses precision protection circuitry that monitors current, temperature and DC offset. If any condition is exceeded a fault signal is sent to the microcontroller which will immediately disconnect the output or mute the input signal until the error has been removed. Blue LEDs on the front panel indicate the error condition. If the level is too high, it will automatically reduce the volume setting before reconnecting the input signal.
Remote control
A new Creek system remote (SRC3) has been designed for use with Destiny 2. However, it can also operate the EVOLUTION range and will become the de facto standard with all Creek products manufactured after July 2010.

Destiny 2 Integrated Amp - Black
|
Evolution 2 Integrated Amp Silver
Creek Audio
$1,195.99
Evolution 2 Integrated Amp - Silver
|
To achieve 75 Watts power into an 8 Ohms load and >110 Watts into 4 Ohms, the mains transformer has to be big. The Evolution 2 uses a 250VA toroidal transformer, which will provide enough current to almost double its output into 4 Ohms. To achieve high-end sound quality, no expense has been spared.
Separate windings are used for each of the high current high voltage and low voltage, analogue and digital circuits. A high capacity power supply using 20,000 micro-Farads of multiple smoothing capacitors are used to power the left and right power amplifiers and provide a very dynamic performance.
The Evolution 2 uses a high quality, Burr-Brown PGA2311, digitally controlled analogue volume control. This allows the user to adjust the volume accurately, from 0 to -80dB. An analogue style rotary encoder, with 40mm solid control knob, is used to alter the volume from the front panel and display the relative level on a large blue coloured VFD. Position 80 is the loudest and 0 is mute. To amplify the signals into the volume control circuit, a high grade Burr-Brown OPA2134 Op-Amp is used as a pre-amplifier. Signal switching is performed by gold contact relays, which are digitally selected from a microcontroller, similar to the Destiny Integrated Amplifier.
The Evolution 2 is configured with higher open-loop gain, using a double differential input and driver stage plus discrete Darlington power output stage, using high current bi-polar transistors. High grade polypropylene capacitors, bypassed with large value electrolytic capacitors, are used to couple and decouple the signal into the power amp.
To keep the amplifier safe, it is monitored by discrete transistor circuitry to protect against over-current demand, short circuits and DC offsets. Relays mute the input and separate the loudspeaker output in the case of faults.
The Evolution 2 operates conventionally with rotary controls for input selection and volume control and buttons for Tape selection and power On/Off. It has four inputs plus tape – including a new feature Direct AV, which bypasses the pre-amplifier and volume control to allow the power amplifier to be used in a 5.1 surround system. Input selection is via the SRC3 remote handset or the rotary input selection control. The display brightness can be altered from the SRC3 remote control handset.
Gold plated input and output sockets have been chosen to provide a good connection and appearance for a product at its price point. Loudspeakers are connected with 1 set of 4mm terminal binding posts, with plastic touch-proof covers. The amplifier also has a headphone socket which is becoming an increasingly rare feature of modern amplifiers.
Mains connection is via a standard, fused, IEC chassis plug. A high quality power cord, with suitable mains plug for the country of use is supplied.

 Evolution 5350 Integrated Amp Silver
Creek Audio
$1,895.99
Evolution 5350 Integrated Amp - Silver
|
The Evolution 5350 integrated amplifier has been designed to fill the gap left by the Classic range, between the entry level Evolution 2 and the top of the range Destiny. It has borrowed technology from both the Evolution 2 and Classic 5350SE and is styled to match the EVOLUTION 2 CD Player and EVOLUTION Tuner.
Creek Audio has developed a completely new high current bi-polar power amplifier to enable it to drive low impedance loudspeakers with modern dynamic music from high resolution sources. This has required a radical approach to enable it to be fitted into a slim-line case.
Each power amp is now built as a module, using a high proportion of Surface-Mount components, on a double sided PCB, bolted to a massive 18 fin heatsink. This means both channels are identical and can be fitted and removed easily for servicing if required. The power amp topology includes a cascoded differential voltage amplifier and MOS-FET current drive stage feeding a double Darlington output stage with four high-current bi-polar transistors to produce a very powerful amplifier capable of driving the most demanding of loads, with high resolution and accuracy. DC stability is maintained by a servo amplifier that rejects DC and allows the amplifier to be coupled directly without capacitors.
In a further development of the Evolution 5350 integrated amplifier's pre-amplifier section, 5 inputs are selectable by high current gold plated relays and switchable access to the power amp allows the Evolution 5350 to be driven directly by the front channels of a 5.1 AV receiver. The standard Creek plug-in Phono pre-amp is also featured. A high-grade PGA2320 digitally controlled analogue volume control circuit together with OPA604 Op-Amps are used to provide a pre-amp with higher overload margin and lower distortion.
To enable 2 x 200 Watts into 4 Ohms to be produced from a small case, Creek has developed a massive power supply using a high grade 350 Watt toroidal mains transformer that powers left and right power amp channels separately, plus pre-amp and digital circuits.
To keep the power amps operating safely, they are monitored by discrete transistor circuitry to protect against over-current demand, short circuits, over-temperature and DC offsets. Relays mute the input and separate the loudspeaker outputs in case of faults.
The Evolution 5350 is operated from the front panel by rotary digital controls for input selection and volume control plus push buttons for Tape and Speaker selection, Mute and Power On/Off. The EVOLUTION 5350 is now supplied with the Creek SRC3 System Remote Control handset, which can operate any Creek amp, CD Player, or Tuner.
Gold plated input and output sockets have been chosen to provide a good connection and appearance for a product at its price point. Loudspeakers are connected by up to 2 sets of high current gold plated binding posts, with plastic touch-proof covers. The amplifier also has a headphone socket; something which is becoming an increasingly rare feature in modern amplifiers.
A large vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) on the front panel indicates the state of the amplifier. Input selection, volume position and loudspeaker connection is displayed through a blue filter. The brightness level can be altered from the remote control handset.
Mains is supplied via a fused, 3 pin IEC chassis plug, mains voltage selector and 2 pole high current switch on the front panel. A high quality power cord is supplied with suitable mains plug for the country of use.

 Wyndsor Phono Amp Black
Creek Audio
$2,495.99
Wyndsor Phono Amp - Black
|
Creek Audio has a long history of making fine sounding Phono pre-amplifiers.
Dating back to the company's first product, the 4040 manufactured in 1982, and more recently the fine sounding OBH range of stand-alone Phono pre-amps, Creek has always applied extra attention to this part of an amplifier's circuitry to obtain the best performance and price. The complexity and accuracy of previous Creek in-built and external Phono pre-amplifiers has always been balanced to suit the total cost of the product and to match the grade of performance versus price.
Creek's first step towards a no-compromise Phono Pre-amplifier was introduced in 2006 when it produced the Destiny Phono Card. This plug-in circuit was exclusive to the Creek Destiny integrated amplifier and was limited to running from the amplifier's own power supply. Its performance proved exemplary, due to the new circuit design, which utilised very high performance Op-Amps and Balanced SSM2019 integrated amplifiers, with extremely accurate passive components to achieve accurate RIAA EQ. To make it work within the limited confines of an integrated amplifier, it squeezed both left and right channels onto a small 4 layer PCB, using surface mount technology.
The success of the Destiny plug-in Phono board led to the development of the Wyndsor Phono Pre-amplifier, as a no compromise stand-alone product. It is built into the same stylish case as the Wyndsor LP1 Speed Controller, which is used to power Creek's high-end turntable.
In order to provide the best performance, left and right channels are built on separate PCB's.
Each channel has dedicated power supply regulation to completely isolate it from the other channel.
Unbalanced input and outputs are connected via high grade gold plated RCA sockets.
Balanced input is possible via dedicated 3 pin mini DIN sockets. Tone arms and some cartridges can be wired specially in balance configuration and soldered to the DIN plugs provided with this product.
Input selection, cartridge loading and gain are all fully adjustable from the front panel High quality gold contact relays are used to switch all the functions and are driven from a dedicated, stand-alone, high quality linear power supply to isolate them from the analogue pre-amp circuitry.
The front panel display indicates which functions have been selected. A micro-controller based control interface is accessed through a rotary input selector and push buttons. Several types of cartridge with different parameters can be programmed and the user can name and store them as pre-set numbers in the unit's memory. It is possible to write up to 16 characters on the display for each selection. For each entry the display will show the cartridge name and type, plus a full description of loading, gain and input type. The display can be adjusted in brightness or turned off completely.
Mute will short the output of the pre-amp, to enable the user to change a record and cut the volume in a convenient way and return to the previous level by pressing the Mute button again.
The Phono pre-amplifier uses a newly developed Wyndsor power supply unit, with separate supplies for analogue and digital circuits. Turning the pre-amp on and off from the mains is achieved by the switch on the front of the power supply or on the back of the pre-amp.

 OBH-11 Headphone Amplifier
Creek Audio
$225.99
OBH-11 Headphone Amp
|
The OBH-11 is a miniature audio amplifier, designed specifically to drive a single pair of low to medium impedance (30 Ohm -300 Ohm) headphones from a line level source.
The OBH-11 is compatible with any source at line level. For example: an average output level CD player can be connected directly to the input of the OBH-11, just as it could also be used in conjunction with a stand-alone pre-amplifier or integrated amplifier which doesn't have a headphone output.
Creek has re-engineered the casework of the old OBH 11, so the front panel is now much thicker and has rounded corners, new style graphics and the metal logo found on the more expensive Creek products. It is ONLY available in black and is an addition to Creek’s range of popular headphone amplifiers.
OBH Uni Power Supply
The OBH-Uni is a 15 Watt high-efficiency multi-region power supply adaptor that replaces the OBH-1 and OBH-2.
Creek has designed this to simplify the requirements for OBH products used in all countries. It is supplied with a selection of snap-on power plugs and since it is capable of working from a range of mains voltages from 100 – 240V’s, we are confident it will make life a lot easier for everyone.
We have compared the performance with that of the OBH-2 and feel that it is a good replacement. Furthermore, since it no longer works at mains frequencies (50-60Hz) it will not interfere with high gain circuits like the Phono amplifiers and it also does not draw current when connected to the mains but not being used.
We are pleased to say that it complies with the new and up-coming regulations that demand power supply adaptors to be high efficiency switching types.

 Epic 1 - Black
Epos Speakers
$599.99
Epos Epic 1 Bookshelf Speakers - Black
|
The Epic 1 is the smallest of the new Epic range of loudspeakers from Epos; designed to deliver big performance from a compact cabinet, but still hold true to Epos’s purist principles of simple crossover, well-behaved drive units and clean understated aesthetics.
At first glance, the Epic range harks back to an 80’s look, but with a modern twist. Epos uses a high-quality vinyl wood veneer to produce a high-end appearance whilst keeping the Epic’s entry-level price point in mind.
Design
Tweeter
Epos developed a new soft-dome tweeter for Epic – quite a landmark – because this is the first soft-dome tweeter used in the history of the company. By using virtual performance CAD simulation tools, Epos has achieved very high performance, and a clean, open yet smooth sound quality which hits well above the tweeter’s price point.
Mid Bass
Epos has also developed a brand new 150mm (5 ¼ inch) driver for the Epic 1, which produces an even frequency response and smooth roll off. This woofer/mid has a high-quality polypropylene cone and ‘bullet’-shaped dust cap. These form a stiff yet pliable, well-damped structure which retains its shape, even under high power. The woofer is loaded by a good-sized port, flared at both ends to reduce turbulence, to produce more bass than expected from such a compact cabinet, coupled with a clear and powerful mid-range.
This mini speaker is more sensitive than you’d expect, making it suitable for use with a wide range of amplifiers, from as small as 20 watts to as large as 100 watts.
Crossover
In typical Epos fashion, the Epic 1 crossover is as simple as we can make it: both the woofer and tweeter networks are 2nd order filters. To ensure high sound quality, all the resistors are metal oxide – a type rarely found in products at this price level. Also included are high-quality polypropylene capacitors, chosen for their superior sound quality. Inductors are designed for low distortion even at high powers: air-core for the tweeter and an over-sized laminated-iron cored coil for the woofer. The input terminals are gold plated and bi-wirable. It’s all in keeping with the Epos ethos of high quality at sensible prices, even for this entry-level speaker.
This same ethos influences every part of the Epic 1, down to the extensive horizontal and vertical internal bracing and rigid 18mm MDF cabinet, far in excess of typical rivals. Just pick it up to feel the weight. For optimum performance, it should be stand-mounted. Epos recommends its ST35.
Detail
We paid great attention to every single minute detail during the design of the Epic 1, to give customers the best sound at the best price. It comes as no surprise that this little speaker will have you in awe from the first note. The level of sound stage, depth and detail is truly exceptional, with a clarity that outshines the competition and even some higher priced speakers.
The Epic 1 is a truly eye and ear-opening loudspeaker that will keep you enthralled listening to your favorite tracks for many years to come.
Standsold separately.

Aktimate Mini Two-Way Speakers - White
|
The AktiMate Minis are active stereo speakers - that is, they have an amplifier built into one of the speakers. You connect the left speaker to the right one with the supplied cable, connect
the power lead to the mains, pop your iPod in the concealed dock on the top of the speaker - and that’s all you need to do. No stack of separates, no trailing iPod dock, no flashing mini-system console.
Instead you have just a pair of 30 cm high hi-fi speakers in a white, red or black gloss finish in what can only be described as an impressively simple set-up.
The AktiMate Mini however is more than just a pair of speakers which accommodates an iPod. You can expand on its simplicity by using either of the two auxiliary inputs on the rear panel of the active speaker - one RCA phono pair and a stereo mini-jack. There is an RCA stereo pair for audio out which can be used for the addition of a sub-woofer or to
daisy-chain pairs of AktiMates. A composite video output for iPod transfers images to a screen (suitable for early version iPods to generation 5 and Nano generation 2). Finally, there is a USB power socket to re-charge an MP3 player.
You operate the iPod by using a small remote control, although the active speaker also has a
depressable knob at the bottom right for volume control and power on/off. The system leaps
into life at great speed and your iPod will recall its exact song position. Your finger will have
barely left the power button before the song re-starts. And if you have been previously
listening at the high levels the AktiMate’s abilities encourage, they do not re-start with such
aggression, but at a reasonable mid-level volume.
One of the AktiMate’s greatest strength lies in its pedigree. Overseen by engineers from the iconic British hi-fi companies, Creek Audio and Epos, both the amplifier and loudspeaker drive units evolve directly from those companies.
The AktiMate Mini has been the recipient of many glowing reviews as well as a multitude of awards -
those awards have been for Best iPod Dock, Best Lifestyle Product, Best Desktop Speaker and more.

 Epic 2 - Black
Epos Speakers
$799.99
Epic 2 Bookshelf Speakers - Black
|
The Epic 2 is the medium-sized two-way model in this new range of loudspeakers from Epos. It has been designed to hold true to Epos’s purist principles of simple crossover, well-behaved drive units and clean understated aesthetics yet deliver a ‘big’ performance way above its price point. Having a larger cabinet and cone than the Epic 1, it offers notable advantages over the Epic 1 in sensitivity, bass output and power handling.
At first glance, the Epic range harks back to an 80’s look, but with a modern twist. Epos uses a high-quality vinyl wood veneer to produce a high-end appearance whilst keeping the Epic’s entry-level price point in mind.
Design
Uniquely, the front baffle presents two surprisingly different faces. Straight out of the box, the Epic 2 is supplied with an audiophile baffle with no visible fixing screws, grille-fixing holes or cloth. The baffle is machined around the woofer to create a gently contoured horn shape and, unlike a conventional grille frame; there are no added obstructions or sharp edges to cause reflections and sound colorations.
In the carton, you will also find an optional cloth-covered grille.
The front baffle on the Epic 2 can be changed in a unique way. The Illustration shows the baffle removal tool in use. With light pressure, the baffle will detach, allowing you to swap it as and when required.
Tweeter
Epos developed a new soft-dome tweeter for Epic – quite a landmark – because this is the first soft-dome tweeter in the history of the company. By using virtual performance CAD simulation tools, Epos has achieved very high performance, and a clean, open yet smooth sound quality which hits well above the tweeter’s price point.
Mid Bass
Epos has also developed a brand new 179mm (6 1/2 inch) 4 Ohm driver for the Epic 2, which produces an even frequency response and smooth roll-off. This has a high-quality polypropylene cone and ‘bullet’-shaped dust cap. These form a stiff yet pliable, well-damped structure which retains its shape, even under high power operation. The woofer is loaded at low frequencies, using a large-diameter port, flared at both ends to avoid turbulence that produces surprising levels and depths of good clean bass for the speaker’s size, coupled with a clear and open mid-range.
The Epic 2 is a surprisingly sensitive speaker with high power handling, making it suitable for use with a wide range of amplifiers, from as small as 20 watts to as large as 120 watts.
Crossover
In typical Epos fashion, the Epic 2 crossover is as simple as we can make it: The woofer/mid and tweeter networks are 2nd order filters. To ensure high sound quality, all the resistors are metal oxide – a type rarely found in products at this price level. Also included are high-quality polypropylene capacitors, used for their superior sound quality. Inductors are designed for low distortion even at high powers: air-core for the tweeter and over-sized laminated-iron core for the woofer. The input terminals are gold plated and bi-wirable. It’s all in keeping with the Epos ethos of providing high quality at sensible prices.
This same ethos influences every part of the Epic 2, down to the extensive vertical and horizontal internal bracing and rigid 18mm MDF cabinet, far in excess of typical rivals. Just pick it up to feel the weight. For best performance, the speaker should be stand mounted. Epos recommends the ST12i stand.
Detail
We paid great attention to every single minute detail during the design of the Epic 2, to give customers the best sound at the best price. It comes as no surprise that this compact speaker will have you in awe from the first note. In addition to the surprising bass power and quality, the sound stage, depth and detail are exceptional, with a clarity that outshines the completion and many higher priced speakers. It is indeed a very engaging loudspeaker with a fine all-round performance.
The Epic 2 is a truly eye and ear-opening loudspeaker that will keep you enthralled listening to your favorite tracks for many years to come.

 Encore 50
Epos Speakers
$9,995.99
Encore 50 3-Way Flagship Speaker
|
There is no substitute for the pure musical involvement and enjoyment to be experienced when listening to the new Epos Encore 50. This unique Epos Flagship loudspeaker has been 3 years in the making but, there is no doubt the time taken to develop this exceptional loudspeaker has been well worth the wait.
Each and every part of the Epos Encore 50 has been developed by Epos engineers to a standard not previously achieved by the company. From the original design concept through to the cabinet construction, speaker drive units, crossover and final voicing, the Encore 50 stands superior in every way.
Cabinet
It is tall and imposing yet exhibits elegance synonymous with Epos. Standing 1.2 metres high, it is deeper rather than wide and is supplied with a strong stylish painted MDF plinth to support its 50 kg weight and spread its footprint for improved stability and mechanical decoupling. Fully adjustable turned aluminium and steel spiked feet can raise or lower the speaker to adjust or tilt the level. The cabinet itself is made from a composite of birch-plywood and MDF which has been extensively strengthened internally using plywood bracing within the mid-range and bass enclosures.
To ensure the lowest colouration, the cabinet and bracing have been optimised, following accelerometer measurements and listening tests. Hand selected and book-matched real wood veneer has been chosen give the most luxurious finish on an Epos speaker so far.
Separate Bass, Mid-range and Crossover sections of the cabinet are hermetically sealed and allow the Crossover to be located in a convenient section at the bottom of the cabinet, accessed via the large, ventilated terminal panel on the bottom rear with a letter box opening in the plinth. All drive units are separately wired to the crossover section, using custom Epos solid core wire.
The bass enclosure has a volume of 43 litres. Two 220mm woofers are bass-reflex loaded by one large diameter 90mm port, positioned mid-way between the woofers and flared at both ends to minimise port turbulence and harmonic distortion. The height and spacing of the woofers has been chosen to minimise the ‘floor-bounce’ cancellation, optimise bass output and ensure a smooth bass-mid range transition in room. The mid-range unit is in its own, braced, 8 litre sealed-box enclosure.
Drive Units
The 2 x 220 mm woofers and 158 mm mid-range cones are made from a Kevlar/carbon fibre/pulp mixture to combine high rigidity, with good inherent damping and feature concave dust caps coupled tightly to the cone. Frequency responses of both woofer and mid-range are inherently very smooth. They each incorporate a copper shorting ring in the magnetic circuit to reduce and linearise inductance and therefore, reduce harmonic and inter-modulation distortions at high sound pressure levels. The two woofer cones couple acoustically at low frequencies and are port loaded for extremely high power handling.
The tweeter is a specially developed version of the Epos Mi tweeter, with anodised aluminium dome, Kapton voice coil former, braided lead-out wires and Ferro-Fluid damping. The centre pole is damped under the dome and vented into a contoured, felt-filled, rear chamber to damp the fundamental resonance frequency.
Crossover
The crossover design of the Epos Encore 50 is revolutionary. It allows the user unparalleled flexibility to compensate for individual room acoustics, without compromising sound quality in any way. The tonal balance of the speaker may be easily changed by the user to increase or decrease the tweeter and midrange output in 1.5dB steps, via an aperture in the bottom of the speaker and plinth. The crossovers use high-grade customised ‘Epos’ polypropylene capacitors and non-polarised electrolytic capacitors, which are bypassed with polypropylene capacitors on the mid-range and tweeter. It also uses air-core inductors, a tapped autotransformer for adjusting the mid-range output and laminated steel-core inductors. Metal-oxide resistors are paralleled where necessary to achieve high power rating and a custom heatsink is used to reduce the temperature.
The high sensitivity mid-range is attenuated by a tapped auto transformer, which doubles as the high-pass crossover inductor. The tweeter network also has variable attenuation via metal-oxide resistors. The maximum sensitivity treble position by-passes all attenuation. Passive components are mounted on a high quality, glass fibre PCB, mechanically isolated from the cabinet.
The crossover PCB’s are designed to be completely, or partially, by-passed, to enable the user to configure the speaker in passive or active mode. Epos, will offer a custom DAC with programmable digital crossover to suit any make of amplification system. In short, it has unparalleled flexibility.
The ongoing development for a future user upgrade to the Epos Encore 50 will represent yet another great leap forward in Epos speaker design and will have music lovers giving it a ‘standing ovation’ whilst applauding this exceptional speaker.
Plinth
A custom made MDF plinth helps to extend the footprint of the speaker and decouple mechanical vibrations from the cabinet. This makes the speaker more stable in a domestic environment and improves low frequency performance.
It also allows access to the crossover adjustment patch-board. Adjustable metal feet allow the height and angle of the speaker to be adjusted. This enables a custom skateboard to fit underneath so the speaker can be transported on wheels to a different position and then carefully lowered into place. This is supplied with the speakers.

 Speaker Stand - St12i
Epos Speakers
$299.99
St12i Speaker Stand
|
For use with Elan 15 and Epic 2 Speakers
Designed specifically to accommodate the Epos M12i bookshelf speakers, the ST12i metal stand is both elegant and functional and is available only in a durable black paint finish. Needless to say, they are able to be used with any make of bookshelf speaker, not just Epos. They are narrower than the earlier square section ST12 open frame stands, which suited the M12 speaker.
Their performance particularly improves the bass performance of the M12i and their open frame design helps to build an exceptional sound stage, with no shortage of presence. They are dynamic and solid and designed to be acceptable in most domestic settings.
The ST12i speaker support stands 51 cm high without spikes. The top mounting area is constructed as an open frame made from four 3mm thick straps producing a top plate area measuring 24 x 17.5 cm, with rounded edges to match the 35mm columns. The solid 4mm bottom plate also has rounded edges and features an Epos badge at the front. Four 35mm diameter heavy gauge steel columns make up the supports. The construction is specifically designed to create similar performance to the original open frame ST12 stand, but which is cosmetically more attractive. It is made this way to help build an even more transparent sound stage than a stand with a heavy centre column. They do not get in the way of the music.
The ST12i is not designed to allow sand to be added to the columns. They are supplied in a self-assembly format complete with optional top and bottom spikes, that are adjustable.

Epos has applied the finest wood veneers, for a high-quality finish. To minimize unwanted vibration and coloration, extensive horizontal and vertical internal bracing has been added to the sturdy 18mm MDF cabinets. For optimum performance, Elan 10 should be stand mounted.
Elan 10 is supplied with an audiophile baffle with no visible fixing screws, grille-fixing holes or cloth. The baffle is machined around the woofer to create a gently contoured horn shape and, unlike a conventional grille frame; there are no obstructions or sharp edges to cause reflections and sound colorations.
For a more family-friendly appearance and improved protection, optional cloth-covered grilles are packed in the carton. It’s simplicity itself to change them over.
Tweeter
Epos has developed a new soft-dome tweeter. By using virtual-performance CAD simulation tools, Epos has achieved very high performance with a sound which combines clarity and smoothness, in equal measure.
The new tweeter has a low resonance frequency, high sensitivity and extended high frequency response. With its 25mm (one inch) doped-fabric dome, short horn, high-temperature Ferro-fluid cooled voice-coil, and shielded neodymium magnet, it is capable of high output levels for extended periods.
Mid-Bass
Epos has also developed a brand new 156mm bass/mid driver for the Elan 10. This is built on to an open-frame cast aluminium alloy chassis with a generously ventilated spider and vented magnet pole, to minimize colorations and distortions.
This bass/mid unit features a high-quality polypropylene cone and ‘bullet’-shaped dust cap. These form a stiff yet pliable, well-damped structure which retains its shape, even under high power, and help the woofer to produce a dynamic sound, with an even frequency response and smooth roll off.
The woofer is loaded by a good-sized port, flared at both ends to reduce turbulence, to produce more bass than expected from such a compact cabinet, coupled with a clear and powerful mid-range.
This mini speaker is more sensitive than you’d expect, making it suitable for use with a wide range of amplifiers, from as small as 25 watts to as large as 100 watts.
Crossover
In typical Epos fashion, the crossover is as simple as we can make it: both the woofer and tweeter networks are 2nd order filters at 3.2 kHz. To ensure the highest sound quality, all the resistors are metal oxide and the capacitors are high-quality polypropylene-foil dielectric, for their superior sound quality. Inductors are designed for low distortion even at high powers: air-core for the tweeter and an over-sized laminated-iron cored coil for the woofer. The input terminals are bi-wirable.
Detail
We paid great attention to every single minute detail during the design of the Elan 10, to give customers the best sound at the best price. It comes as no surprise that this elegant speaker will have you in awe from the first note. In addition to the astonishing bass power for its size, sound stage, depth and detail are truly exceptional, with a clarity that outshines the competition and many higher priced speakers.
This is a truly eye and ear-opening loudspeaker that will keep you enthralled listening to your favorite tracks for many years to come.

 Elan 30 - Black
Epos Speakers
$1,999.99
Elan 30 3-Way Floor-Standing Speakers - Black
|
The Elan 30 is the second largest floor-stand speaker in this new range. Its design holds true to the purist principles followed by Epos. The two woofers work together at low frequencies to provide even higher sensitivity and power handling than the bookshelf models – in addition to delivering deeper and more powerful bass. We believe this design philosophy delivers the very best sound quality and musical performance for the money.
Design
Only the finest real-wood veneers are selected, book-matched and hand-laid. Several coats of polyurethane are applied and polished for a high-quality finish. To minimise unwanted vibration and coloration, extensive horizontal and vertical internal bracing are positioned inside the sturdy 18mm thick MDF cabinets. For optimum performance and stability, they should be fitted with the plinths supplied, together with the adjustable spiked feet, designed to decouple unwanted energy from the cabinet into the floor.
The Elan 30 is supplied with two baffles. The standard audiophile baffle with no visible fixing screws is fitted. If required, this can easily be swapped for the alternative cloth covered version, which is designed with the same profile as the naked baffle. Both types of baffle fit snugly around the tweeter and are both gently contoured around the woofers. So, unlike a conventional grille frame, there are no obstructions or sharp edges to cause reflections and sound colorations. The sound from both types of baffle will therefore sound similar.
Tweeter
Epos has developed a new soft-dome tweeter for the Epic and Elan range. By using virtual-performance CAD simulation tools, this new tweeter has been designed to achieve the accuracy and speed of a metal dome but with smoothness associated with a soft dome. It has a low resonance frequency, high sensitivity and extended high frequency response. With its 25mm (one inch) doped-fabric dome, short horn, high-temperature Ferro-fluid cooled voice-coil and shielded neodymium magnet, it is capable of high output levels for extended periods. Its natural high sensitivity is necessary to match the much increased output from the new bass and mid-range drivers.
Mid-Bass
A new long-throw eight-Ohm 156mm bass/mid driver has been developed for the Elan 30. Built on to an open-frame cast-aluminium alloy chassis, with a generously ventilated spider and vented magnet pole, this driver minimises colorations and distortions while allowing greater sound pressure levels than earlier Epos drivers.
The bass/mid units feature a high-quality polypropylene cone and ‘bullet’-shaped dust cap. These form a stiff yet pliable, well-damped structure which retains its shape, even at high power. This helps the woofers to produce a dynamic sound, with a very even frequency response and naturally smooth roll-off. The lower woofer is rolled-off (filtered) above 800Hz by the crossover, allowing the top mid-woofer to play bass and mid-range smoothly. The mid-woofer is rolled-off (filtered) at 3.6 kHz by the crossover to integrate properly with the tweeter. This is essentially a true 2 ½ way configuration.
Both woofers are loaded by a very large diameter port, flared at both ends, to reduce turbulence. Together they produce plenty of clean deep bass coupled with a clear, smooth and detailed mid-range.
A special feature of this floor-standing speaker is its high sensitive, making it suitable for use with a wide range of amplifiers, from as small as 12.5 Watts to as large as 150 watts into 4 Ohms. So, tube fans should find this amp a perfect match.
Crossover
In typical Epos fashion, the Elan 30 crossover is as simple as we can make it: both the woofer and tweeter networks are 2nd order filters at 800Hz and 3.6kHz. To ensure the highest sound quality, all the resistors are metal oxide, all the capacitors are high-quality polypropylene-foil dielectric types, and internal wiring uses proprietary solid-core wire covered in a sponge sheath. Inductors are designed for low distortion even at high powers: air-core for the tweeter and an over-sized laminated-iron core for the woofer. All connections to drive units and crossover are hand soldered. The input terminals are bi-wirable, using a proprietary metal terminal panel with solid metal binding post equipped for 4mm plus and large spade lugs.

 Elan 10 - Black
Epos Speakers
$1,000.99
Elan 10 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers - Black
|
The Elan 10 is the smallest of this new range; designed to deliver big performance from a compact cabinet, but still hold true to Epos’s purist principles of simple crossover, well-behaved drive units and clean understated aesthetics.
Design
