Excuse me, is this 1969, during the time when Rock bands released an
album every nine to twelve months and they
were all great? Last summer Neil Young recorded what will likely be
remembered as one of his best albums ever in
"Prairie Wind" and then eight months later delivers a new protest
album that will make, even the most conservative thinkers,
rethink the state of the world. Maybe it takes the wisdom of time
and experience to drill down to the heart of
issues these days instead of the open mindedness of youth as in the
past. It isn't one of the newer bands on the scene shining
a light on the ugly side of human nature, they are all trying to sell
a million records ( make that five million records) so that they
buy that house in the Hills. Instead it is the old man of ROCK AND
ROLL that delivers the familiar one two punch that makes
people question the course we are on. Regardless of your politics,
"Living WIth War" will rock your world and hit a chord that
needs to be struck.

Prairie Wind (200 Gram) Neil Young $44.99
200 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed
Prairie Wind is an adventure akin to taking a drive through one's own
life stopping off to revisit old friends and loved ones along the
way. For Neil Young fans this album delivers
songs that instantly stick in your mind as familiar. Tunes like
"Falling Off The Face Of The Earth" and "The Painter" evoke thoughts
of introspection that remind us of our humanity and its ultimate
fragility. "No Wonder" feels like
a early 70's anthem applied to more recent events while "Far From
Home", with its bluesy harmonic interludes and horn accompaniment,
tells a story of fond reminiscence of childhood and growing up.
"It's A Dream" incites one to confront how fleeting our surroundings
are and ,in a sense, the desire to have them remain as more than
"just a memory without anywhere to stay". The title track weaves
the same bluesy harmonica and horn section with a group backup
singers to create an eerie and evocative scene. Neil Young has
created in "Here for You" possibly the ultimate love song with a pace
and harmonica rifts reminiscent of Bob Dylan in the mid 60's if he'd
been in Nashville. "This Old Guitar" is a masterful story of life
that is impossible not to relate to in one way or another and
features a great backing vocal from Emmy Lou Harris making this tune
even more special. "He Was King" is clearly a tribute to Elvis
which harkens back to an easier time. The final track "When God Made
Me" asks the questions about our humanity we all ponder at some time
in our lives. This is an album, dedicated to his father that Neil
Young made for himself, his friends and family and is giving, as a
gift, to the rest of us. We can all benefit from the insights
contained here and possibly gain some important perspectives on life
- thanks Neil.
Classic Records, in cooperation with Reprise Records and Neil Young are proud to present "Prairie Wind" as a
Deluxe 2 LP gatefold edition. Included is an 18 page 12" x 12"
booklet with lyrics and photos printed with soy based inks on paper
that is from sustainable forests and Rain Forest Alliance certified.
The LP mastering and cutting was done at Bernie Grundman Mastering in
Hollywood by Chris Bellman using the original 1/2" analog master
tapes with plating and pressing on Classic's proprietary 200g QUIEX
Super Vinyl Profile at RTI. The sound is, to put it bluntly, without
compare and sets a new standard for sonic achievement. Is this Grammy worthy? You bet it is.
As an added bonus, side 4 of the set is an interview with Neil
discussing guitars, equipment, music, musicians and musical arrangers
among others things. Not to be missed!

A stripped-down, unpolished version of 2006's Living With War, with choir and overdubs having been jettisoned, delivers an even more powerful, jacked-up conduit of the message. Recorded live in the studio in only two weeks with sparse musical support, it's hardly subtle themes and lyrics (Let's Impeach The President) are Young's personal shock and awe, commenting, as he had swiftly done on the 1969 Kent State killings ("Ohio"), on the political turmoil in the U.S. and it's war on terrorism. The original version fanned the flames and both doves and hawks were glad when it faded from the news. This new version is bound to keep the heat up for some time. Mastered and cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood from the original demo mix master tapes gives this compendium edition a rawer, more edgy sound - similar to other recent NY releases. Additionally, all new gatefold artwork makes this package a natural, "must have" alternate version of the first release of "Living With War" in 2006. ALL Classic / Reprise Neil Young vinyl issues including LWW...In the Beginning, are pressed only on Classic's proprietary 200g Super Vinyl Profile. Don't even hesitate - just buy it!

The second of three consecutive masterpieces Neil Young recorded between 1969 and 1972, After the Gold Rush captures the vibes, emotions, and cautious optimism of the era better than any album of its time. Moreover, it contains a host of impeccably written and performed songs that transcend the period and stand as an inextricable part of the American conscious.
Recorded at Young’s Topanga Canyon Ranch and featuring backing from the legendary Crazy Horse, the then-unknown prodigy Nils Lofgren, and several other friends, the 1970 album embraces many of the seemingly artistic contradictions and eccentric diversity that have made Young so peerless. The title track, a devastatingly gorgeous balladic meditation on the '60s and a warning of what may come in the 1970s, proved prophetic. Every other song is equally spectacular and significant.
The bristling whip-crack of “Southern Man” furthered Young’s no-holds-barred political commentary and prompted a response song in the form of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” an anthem that its target praised. The country heartache of “Oh, Lonesome Me” simultaneously plays off and into the romantic spirit of the uplifting “Don’t Let It Bring You Down” and the exuberant romp of “When You Dance You Can Really Love.” In one swoop, Young and company traverse the Heartland, Southern plantations, Appalachian valleys, and Los Angeles hills.
Having languished for decades, this masterwork (named as one of the '100 Best Albums of All-Time' by Rolling Stone) has finally received the long-overdue sonic treatment it’s deserved. Remastered from the original tapes by Young’s expert team and overseen by the artist himself, After the Gold Rush now sounds better than ever. Young has never sounded so immediate, detailed, rich, or present on a studio album.
The record joins 1968's Neil Young, 1969’s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, and 1972’s Harvest as part of the initial batch of Young recordings pristinely mastered from the original tapes, pressed on high-quality audiophile-grade LP, and packaged in sleeves that faithfully mirror those of the originals.

A colossal effort that signifies his first collaboration with Crazy Horse, bar-none the best garage-rock support band ever assembled, Neil Young’s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere explodes with loose electricity, country-influenced harmonies, and fervent interplay that took melodic rock music in then-unforeseen directions. Moving away from the mellow fare that distinguished his self-titled debut, the pioneering Canadian icon stretches out and showcases his penchant for unhinged guitar solos and drifting arrangements.
Having come across the Rockets while recording his first solo outing, Young spared no time in recruiting the band for his own purposes. With the trio of Danny Whitten, drummer Ralph Molina, and bassist Billy Talbot renamed Crazy Horse, and Young ready with an energetic collection of tunes that called out for longer instrumentals and raw tones, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere was recorded in a scant two weeks time and just four months after Young’s prior effort.
His symbiotic chemistry with fellow kindred spirit and rhythm guitarist Whitten is evident on the drawn-out “Cowgirl In the Sand” and murderous “Down By the River,” both a tangle of rolling narratives, mysterious tension, amplified feedback, and longing emotion which remain staples in Young’s live repertoire. As does “Cinnamon Girl,” which is distinguished by one of the most famous and magnetic riffs of all time. At this stage of his career, Young had never written such an engaging and expressive set of songs and the album remains a landmark on which every tune is a classic.

Harvest Neil Young $22.99
Vinyl LP - Sealed PRE-ORDER
Neil Young's career defining fourth solo effort Harvest spawned the folk classics, “Heart of Gold” and “Old Man,” as well as the affecting “The Needle and the Damage Done,” and it went on to become the best-selling record of 1972 and one of Rolling Stone’s '100 Greatest Albums of All-Time.' While firmly rooted in old-timey country and traditional music, the record ventures beyond conventional pastures and incorporates stabbing guitar-driven swamp (“Alabama”), hayride jigs (“Are You Ready for the Country?”), and orchestral pop (“There’s A World”) into its broad sonic swath.
Young’s lyrics here are extraordinarily reflective and poignant. He’s got love on his mind, and yet his emotions run the gamut. The music is both a release and a meditation, the stripped-down structures and economical playing conspiring to deliver maximum feeling and slow-burn impact that one never forgets.
The album features the likes of steel-guitarist Ben Keith, bassist Tim Drummond, pianist/arranger Jack Nitzsche, and drummer Kenny Buttrey, as well as a who's who of background vocalists that includes none other than David Crosby, Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, and James Taylor.
Having languished for decades, this bonafide masterpiece has finally received the long-overdue sonic treatment it has needed. Remastered from the original tapes by Young’s expert team and overseen by the artist himself, Harvest now sounds better than ever. Young has never sounded so close, lifelike, palpable, or three-dimensional on a studio album.
The record joins 1968's Neil Young, 1969’s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, and 1970’s After the Gold Rush as part of the initial batch of Young recordings pristinely mastered from the original tapes, pressed on high-quality audiophile-grade LP, and packaged in sleeves that faithfully mirror those of the originals. In hindsight, Neil Young now admits that Live At Massey Hall should have come out between After the Gold Rush and Harvest. The legendary 1971 concert features a solo Young with just a guitar, a piano and a mic debuting what were mostly new songs at the time. "I'm gonna sing mostly new songs tonight," Neil Young tells the rapt Massey Hall audience, "I've written so many new ones that I can't think of anything else to do with them other than sing 'em." The sound quality is impeccable and the setting lends a profound intimacy to Young's voice and musicianship, making this an overall remarkable recording and a mystery that it wasn't released sooner. The acclaimed Toronto performance features brilliant takes on some of Young's most enduring classics including; "Old Man," "Cowgirl In The Sand," "Ohio" and a suite of "A Man Needs A Maid" and "Heart Of Gold" before they were recorded for Harvest. CSNY's First Album In Nearly A Decade!
CSNY provided much of the soundtrack for the antiwar movement of the Vietnam era, and four decades later, they’re doing it again. In 2006, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young reunited for the Freedom Of Speech Tour. In 2008, they premiered CSNY/Déjà Vu, a feature-length documentary based on that controversial tour and now the only place to hear those impassioned performances is here on this Double 200g edition of CSNY/Déjà Vu Live! A mix of CSNY classics and more recent antiwar material from Neil Young, CSNY/Déjà Vu Live marks the return to the socio-political stage of David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young in a musical déjà vu!
CSNY made its debut with 1970’s #1 Déjà Vu, seven-times platinum, but then broke up, though the double live 4 Way Street followed in 1971 and went #1 and quadruple platinum. A 1974 summer reunion tour inspired the live compilation So Far, #1 and six times platinum. They returned once more with 1988’s platinum studio disc American Dream. After another hiatus, they were back with 1999’s Looking Forward. CSNY/Déjà Vu Live is the foursome’s first album in nearly a decade.
This vinyl release features two 200g black vinyl discs, pressed at Furnace (in Japan) and packaged in a paper-wrapped Stoughton gatefold jacket.

180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP
Recorded in 2008 between tour dates with his live band Ben Keith (pedal steel guitar, keyboards), Chad Cromwell (drums), Rick Rosas (bass), Pegi Young (vocals) and Anthony Crawford (vocals, guitar), Neil Young's newest offering Fork In The Road explores the dirty blues and the singer/songwriter's direct ruminations on his growing social and ecological concerns. The album's main themes center around Young's involvement with the Lincvolt Project, a joint effort between the singer and biodiesel pioneer Johnathan Goodwin to develop a commercially viable electric power system for automobiles. The prototype Lincvolt vehicle, Young's own 1959 Lincoln Continental, is now completely finished, and a documentary is planned about the car's first cross-country gasoline-free road trip to Washington, DC. Young even named one of the album's songs, "Johnny Magic,' after his Lincvolt partner. Songs such as "Cough Up the Bucks," "Fuel Line," "Hit the Road" and "Get Around" also support Young's green leaning concepts here.

The Latest Installment in Neil Young's Critically Acclaimed Archives Performance Series - Warner Brothers First Release in Their Limited-Edition Japanese Vinyl Series! Do Not Miss This!
In early 2007, Neil Young’s extraordinary Live At Massey Hall 1971 flashback debuted on the Pop chart at #6, a stunning success for an archival release. Now greet the arrival of Sugar Mountain Live At Canterbury House 1968, another singular installment in the continuing Neil Young Archives Performance Series featuring a 22-year old Neil Young solo and acoustic just days before the release of his self-titled solo debut.
Recorded over the 9th and 10th of November, 1968 at the Canterbury House in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sugar Mountain documents the launch of Neil Young's legendary career as a solo artist following his departure from Buffalo Springfield just six months earlier. The album includes songs that were written during his Buffalo Springfield tenure as well as newly written material that would appear on his future solo releases. The Canterbury House shows were considered to be an experiment at the time to see how Young's solo performances would be received by an audience who only knew him as part of the Buffalo Springfield band dynamic. The experience erased all doubts and set the stage for an artist that what would become one of the greatest singer/songwriters in music history.
Few people outside of those in attendance at the Canterbury House shows would have known about this performance if it weren't for a 1970 single Young released called "The Loner." The B-side of that 45 was "Sugar Mountain." The live recording of "Sugar Mountain" reappeared as a B-side to the "Cinnamon Girl" single in 1970 and again in 1977 on the greatest hits compilation Decade. Now, over 40 years later you can finally hear the entire long-awaited Canterbury House performance in all its glory here on 200g Japanese HQ Vinyl!

Trailblazing sould man Booker T. Jones has written the most audacious chapter of his career with Potato Hole, his first solo album in decades, and the natural evolution of his groundbreaking work leading Booker T. and the MGs. Wanting to expand his sound beyond listeners' expectations into the pounding glory of indie rock, while retaining a funky edge, Booker teamed up with southern rockers Drive-By Truckers to produce an album that is raw and edgy, fun and innovative. And just to seal the deal, long-time Booker associate Neil Young dropped by to play blistering lead guitar on 9 of the 10 tracks. "He adds that special thing that only he can do," explains Booker. Potato Hole will be one of the most talked about released of 2009, a true return of one of rock's greatest musicians. Produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliot Smith, Beck, Rickie Lee Jones, Foo Fighters) and Booker T.
Booker T. Jones was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, and was honored with a Grammy award for Lifetime Achievement on February 11, 2007.

Neil Percival Young OM (born November 12, 1945, Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, guitarist, and film director.
His work is characterized by deeply personal lyrics, distinctive guitar work, and an instantly recognizable nasal tenor (and frequently alto) singing voice. Although he accompanies himself on several different instruments—including piano and harmonica—his style of hammer-on acoustic guitar and often idiosyncratic soloing on electric guitar are the lynchpins of a sometimes ragged, sometimes polished, yet consistently evocative sound. Although Young has experimented widely with differing music styles, including swing, jazz, rockabilly, blues, and electronica throughout a varied career, his best known work usually falls into either of two distinct styles; folk-esque acoustic rock (as heard in songs such as "Heart of Gold", "Harvest Moon" and "Old Man") and hard rock, in songs like "Cinnamon Girl", "Rockin' in the Free World" and "Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)". In more recent years, Young has started to adopt elements from newer styles of music, such as industrial and grunge, the latter of which was profoundly influenced and created due to his own style of playing.
Young has directed (or co-directed) a number of films using the pseudonym Bernard Shakey, including Journey Through the Past (1973), Rust Never Sleeps (1979), Human Highway (1982), and Greendale (2003). He is also an outspoken advocate for environmental issues and small farmers, having co-founded the benefit concert Farm Aid, and in 1986 helped found The Bridge School, and its annual supporting Bridge School Benefit concerts, together with his wife Pegi.
