Need help choosing the right turntable for you? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

Designed and engineered to achieve outstanding performance way beyond the expectations of a product at this price point.

Excellent build quality, reliability and ease of use combine to make a product which will offer a lifetime of musical enjoyment. Omitting all the usual gimmicks allows us to concentrate the manufacturing costs on the high quality parts necessary to reproduce records accurately.

Using a manual speed change rather than an automatic mechanism, eliminates speed inconsistencies and reduces wear of the drive belt. The money we save is spent across the design including a new hand assembled RB101 tonearm, precision main bearing, phenolic resin platter and a high quality low vibration motor which would normally be used on a turntable costing two or three times the amount.

The minimalist design of the Rega RP1 and the use of extremely high quality components ensure that this turntable will last for many years. The RP1 is the first in a new generation of Rega turntables offering far greater performance than their predecessors.

We are confident the performance of this amazing new product will impress you. Rest assured the only thing entry level about the RP1 is the price!

About The Performance Pack:
The Performance Pack is designed for use with the RP1 turntable and includes the Rega Bias 2 moving magnet cartridge, upgrade drive belt and a high performance 100% natural wool turntable mat usually supplied with the P3,P5 and P7. You will also find a 14mm diameter rubber spacer enclosed in the cartridge pack which ensures the plug and play design of the RP1 remains, along with a cartridge alignment protractor for use when fitting the cartridge.

Upgrade drive belt
The increased drive delivered by the upgrade belt offers greater speed stability and accuracy. This is especially noticeable during long musical notes which adds greatly to the musical performance of the turntable.

Bias 2 cartridge
A hand assembled moving magnet cartridge which uses a high quality elliptical stylus and parallel wound coils that would usually be found in cartridges costing many times the amount. Housed in Regas unique lightweight high rigidity cartridge body the Bias 2 offers a detailed, balanced performance with tight bass and excellent stereo imagery.

Turntable Mat
A high quality mat manufactured from 100% natural wool. Wool having stiffer fibres than synthetic man made material directly improves coupling between the phenolic resin platter and the vinyl LP.

Plug & Play
Setting up your RP1 takes seconds, push the balance weight all the way to the end stop, this will automatically set the tracking weight to the desired setting for the Rega Bias 2.

Reviews:
Theres no easier turntable on Earth to set up than the RP1. The combination of an improved platter and bearing are a big hit on the RP1there was no mistake that the RP1 is a major step up. After extended listening sessions in three very different levels of systems, the RP1 definitely delivers a solid helping of analog magic. The fact is that the RP1 offers solid performance, excellent value and is a great place to start listening to vinyl!

The Rega RP1 is well made, attractive, apparently durable, and demonstrably superior to any other self-standing audio source at this price. Best of all, the RP1 is easy to own and to use. Its not just that I cant imagine $445 buying more happiness; I cant imagine so modest an investment in money and effort buying more music!

"This is the best place to start for audiophile sound at a modest price."

SoundStageDirect Glossary

VINYL RECORDS

Vinyl records are able to capture the purest quality of recorded music in true form. This is possible because the initial recording is captured on an analog source (usually tape) for the ultimate in High Fidelity sound, it is then pressed onto virgin vinyl. Analog recordings capture the bottom end (or bass) while adding sweetness to the high end (or treble) better than any digital recording ever could. Analog systems are still commonly used before they are digitally transferred to CD. This means that the sound then is altered in the transfer process when CD's are produced. The word fidelity means accuracy and faithfulness. High Fidelity sound is faithful to the original sound made by the artist, capturing maximum accuracy of what was intended for the listener to hear. Vinyl records capture those sounds for the ultimate High Fidelity listening experience!

180/200 GRAM Vinyl LP

These vinyl records are produced with 180 or 200 grams of high definition premium grade virgin vinyl. This is a higher quality audiophile pressing than the typical vinyl record of 100-120 grams. These limited edition LP's are manufactured with the hi-fi enthusiast in mind. A 180 or 200 gram LP is sometimes also referred to as an audiophile pressing, there is a higher bass response and an even warmer High Fidelity sound. 180 or 200 grams LP's are typically manufactured in limited amounts and are considered collectables, commanding a higher price.

VINYL REISSUES

Typically, a vinyl reissue is a repressing of an original LP, usually extracted from the recording's master-tapes. In some cases, reissues are remastered to lower surface noise and improve overall sonics. Reissues help preserve the music of an original recording, especially when original LPs become unavailable or can no longer be found. Reissues can be pressed on a variety of thickness from 150 gram to 200 gram and offer a great opportunity for records collectors to own many classic recordings.
