The shimmering follow-up to Present Tense, 1968’s pop-psych cult classic by producers Gary Usher and Curt Boettcher’s studio-only project Sagittarius (“My World Fell Down”), 1969’s The Blue Marble once again finds Usher crafting still more sunshiney, Beach Boys-esque dreamscapes. As he did for Present Tense, Usher called on the cream of L.A.’s studio pros as well as members of the like-minded Millennium, and the results are once again magnificent.

Layered with creamy vocal harmonies, brass, flute, and Moog synthesizer, The Blue Marble will have fans of the Millennium, the Association, the Yellow Balloon, and similarly grandiose baroque pop acts positively floating on air. Sourced from the original Together Records analog masters, these editions contain four bonus tracks on the CD and two bonus tracks on the LP.

Big Bad World, is the Plane White T's highly anticipated follow-up to the band’s platinum-plus-selling breakthrough release Every Second Counts which boasted the mega-hit single “Hey There Delilah.” Big Bad World was recorded at Morning View Studios in Malibu, California and Groove Master Studios in Chicago with producer Johnny K and mixed by Andy Wallace (Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Avenged Sevenfold). It's coming for Christmas...and 3-time Grammy and 8-time Juno Award-winning multi-platinum Arista recording artists Sarah McLachlan, who has sold over 30 million records around the world, will usher in the spirit of the season with Wintersong, a 12 song collection.

Recorded in her home studio in Vancouver, Sarah McLachlan presents these classic songs on Wintersong with a unique twist, making them her own and translating them into her repertoire. These recordings are not simply traditional holiday fare. Instead, Wintersong could be considered the soundtrack to a blustery winter day. The album opens with her version of John Lennon's timeless declaration of peace from 1971 "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)". John and Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band originally recorded the song with the Harlem Community Choir, and Sarah is also joined by a choral group - a children's choir of students form the school she personally funds and oversees in her hometown of Vancouver.

Another highlight for the new album is Sarah's version of "River" from Joni Mitchell's 1971 Blue album. The title track "Wintersong" was written by Sarah specifically for this album. On this recording, she also pays homage to Gordon Lightfoot with his 1975 "Song for a Winter's Night". From the American standard songbook, Sarah has chosen "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". The program is rounded out with the traditional "What Child Is This (Greensleeves)", "O Little Town of Bethlehem", "Silent Night", the classically flavored "In A Bleak Mid Winter", and a medley of "The First Noel/Mary Mary". In addition, Wintersong features guest appearances from Diana Krall on piano on "Christmas Time Is Here" from the 1965 Charlie Brown Christmas cartoon and fellow Canadian Jim Creegan of Barenaked Ladies guests on double bass throughout the album.

Comprised of re-drafts of earlier compositions first penned by Reed and the Velvet Underground, Berlin featured heavy orchestral arrangements and horn sections that were sparse and harrowing yet lyrically rich and rewarding.

Staging Berlin had been discussed for over 30 years, and in December of 2006 it became a reality, over four days at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn. It was the first time Reed performed the album live. The New York Times said that Reed "wasn't revisiting these songs as oldies or artifacts; he was reinhabiting them. Berlin carried Reed's music to an ornate extreme, but now its trappings are secondary. What comes through is the way it feels."

The film Berlin, by acclaimed painter/director Julian Schnabel (Basquiat, Before Night Falls, The Diving Bell & The Butterfly), documents these historic performances. Though the album's harrowing qualities are well documented, the experience of seeing and hearing it brought to life was invigorating. Produced by Bob Ezrin and Hal Willner, and featuring musicians like Fernando Saunders, Antony, Steve Hunter, Rob Wassermann, Rupert Christie and Sharon Jones, a seven piece orchestra (including Eyvind Kang and Jane Scarpantoni), and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, this recording magnifies the cinematic quality of the original album. It also includes the three encores, "Candy Says," "Rock Minuet," and "Sweet Jane."

Powder Burns is the fourth Twilight Singers release from former Afghan Whigs singer Greg Dulli and it features guest appearances by Joseph Arthur, Ani DiFranco and old band-mate John Curley. Powder Burns strikes an immediate impression; songs like “There’s Been An Accident,” “Underneath The Waves” and “Forty Dollars” display Dulli’s song-writing perfectly; his lyrics, morose and uplifting in equal quantities, are complimented by his salient vocals. NYC singer/songwriter Jesse Malin's 2007 release, Glitter In The Gutter is a raw, modern record of thirteen stellar songs about life's struggles and the rewards of those struggles. Malin covers a lot of ground with his intimate and detail oriented storytelling, leaving no stone uncovered and touching on every walk of life. He conveys happiness and sadness in the same note, using both electric guitars and acoustics, modern keyboards and acoustic piano, power driven drums and happy jangly percussions with driving bass lines and big voice choruses, Glitter In The Gutter is an energetic, infused, moving record with a defiant and exuberant spirit.

After self-producing The Download EP, a six-song batch of demos, Innerpartysystem recruited a group of A-list producers and mixers to work with on their self-titled debut including Joel Hamilton (Book of Knots, Sparklehorse, Blue Tip), Mark Needham (The Killers, Pete Yorn), Spike Stent (Björk, Arcade Fire) and Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Jesus & Mary Chain, The Killers) and Stuart Price, Seal, The Killers). Innerpartysystem's debut deftly toes the line between anthemic pop-rock and melodramatic electro-pop.

The origins of Innerpartysystem can be traced to 2002, when drummer Jared Piccone and vocalist Patrick Nissley attended school together in Reading, Pennsylvania. The duo started writing songs together, inspired by both their love of electronic music and hardcore punk. Piccone and Nissley then recruited multi-instrumentalists Kris Barman and Jesse Cronan to join the band and their sound moved further into samples and the electronic direction that can be heard on their debut.

Originally released in 1979, this is the first (and best) of Serge Gainsbourg's two forays into reggae. Recorded in Jamaica with some of reggae's biggest names including players/producers Sly & Robbie. Probably Gainsbourg's last truly classic album, Aux Armes Et Caetera is full of dubbed out tracks and Serge's signature speak-sing drawl. His reworking of the French national anthem in the title track earned him death threats from members of the French right-wing, adding to his controversial image. Originally released in 1976 this is Serge Gainbourg's second concept record, after the stone classic Histoire De Melody Nelson, and probably second only in quality to that record in his deep, storied catalog. Translating to "The Man With The Cabbage Head," L' Homme A Tete De Chou is a brutal story of lust and obsession in which, over the course of the album, the narrator falls in love with a black shampoo girl (Marilou), beats her to death with a fire extinguisher and ends up in a psychiatric hospital. Featuring lush orchestration and a variety of influences, from reggae to rock to funk to country, L' Homme A Tete De Chou is a crucial part of the musical history of one of France's most famous, and certainly most controversial, stars.

“Ambient dreams in rainbow arches describe the circles of The Fireman,” is how the duo described their music in a rare interview around the release of their last album Rushes in 1998. Their first album Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest, released in 1993, was a solid ambient dance album heavy on electronics. Around this time the identity of The Fireman was unknown until the press exposed the duo as none other than Paul McCartney and Youth. The now defunct music bible Melody Maker heaped praise on the project, “Paul McCartney has discovered dance music, the results are staggeringly brilliant. They (The Fireman) take a melody and, with dexterous genre-hopping through ambient, trance and house, evolve a number of breathtaking variations.”

Now The Fireman are back after a ten-year break. Electric Arguments is their third and brand new studio album and it’s not the album people might expect from the mysterious duo. Electric Arguments is an eclectic and varied album consisting of thirteen tracks recorded in thirteen days. Each track was written and recorded in the space of one day with Paul playing all instruments except one track, which Youth plays guitar on. The Fireman went into the studio with no plan or clear direction of how they wanted the album to sound. The project took a life of it’s own and the results will surprise anyone expecting to hear the previous sound of the band. The album’s opener “Nothing Too Much Just Out Of Sight” is classic rock and an instant attention grabber. A heavy guitar riff with loud drums and souring vocals, it’s like nothing The Fireman have ever done before. The second track, the acoustic driven “Two Magpies” immediately takes you in a different direction, calming things right down. Then we reach the third song “Sing The Changes,” a euphoric upbeat song with an instantly memorable melody. Electric Arguments continues in this fashion, keeping the listener intrigued as to where The Fireman will take them next. Each album track has an entirely different personality, yet somehow this collection sits together perfectly. Other standout tracks include "Light From Your Lighthouse," "Sun Is Shining" and "Dance ‘Til We’re High," all in keeping with the genre-hopping spirit of the first two The Fireman albums. From listening to the album it’s clear that Paul McCartney is still interested in pure musical possibilities. This is an album with something for everyone. Black Rose: A Rock Legend would prove to be Thin Lizzy's last true classic album (and last produced by Tony Visconti). Guitarist Brian Robertson was replaced by Gary Moore prior to the album's recording. Moore had already been a member of the band in the early '70s and served as a tour fill-in for Robertson in 1977, and he fits in perfectly with Lizzy's heavy, dual-guitar attack. Black Rose also turned out to be the band's most musically varied, accomplished and successful studio album, reaching number two in the U.K. upon its release.
