Boy U2 $18.99
180 Gram Audiophile Virgin Vinyl LP - Sealed
There's little in U2's 1980 debut to suggest that this was a band bent on world domination. Indeed, there's a charming, if naive, coming-of-age urgency in songs such as 'I Will Follow,' 'Stories for Boys' and 'Out of Control' that may startle listeners more familiar with U2's latter-day bombast and stadium-scale theatrics. Bono's viewpoint, still tantalizingly vague and wide-eyed, showed that his penchant for strident polemics hadn't yet gotten the best of him; his anthems are those of a yearning Dubliner barely out of his teens rather than those of a world-weary multimillionaire. The band's sometimes-ragged musical chops work in its favor here, gently burnished to then-fresh new-wave sheen by producer Steve Lillywhite. If the Edge's dense, effects-laden guitar work seems overly familiar, it's only because this album was such a key influence on the whole 'rock of the '80s' sound. Though not quite as moody or musically accomplished as October, arguably the band's first masterpiece, Boy still ranks as one of U2's best albums.

Scraps NRBQ $19.99$18.99
High Definition Vinyl LP - Sealed
The wildly eclectic New Rhythm & Blues Quintet, better known to its worldwide legion of adoring fans as NRBQ (or just the Q!), is the only band on the planet that can play rockabilly, bar-band blooze, Beatles sound-alikes and Sun Ra-style free jazz in the same set and remain standing.
By the time keyboardist Terry Adams, vocalist Frank Gadler, bassist Joey Spampinato, drummer Tom Staley and fabulous new guitarist Al Anderson released Scraps, their wonderful second album in 1972, they had relocated from Florida to New Jersey—and, like their name says, they were actually a quintet for the only time in their career. From the infectious “Howard Johnston’s Got His Ho-Jo Working” to the loveably understated “Magnet,” Scraps is loaded with NRBQ classics that lived up to the eye-popping press garnered by their self-titled 1969 debut.

Side Trips Kaleidoscope $19.99$18.99
High Definition Vinyl LP - Sealed
Like a mind-boggling combination of Summer of Love acid-rock, goodtime saloon music and a Middle Eastern jam session, Side Trips, the debut album by Kaleidoscope, stood out, even in the eye of the psychedelic hurricane, as something altogether different! Staffed by a hall of fame roster of multi-instrumentalists—David Lindley, Chris Darrow, Solomon Feldthouse, Chester Crill (aka: Fenrus Epp) and John Vidican—this San Gabriel Valley, Calif.-based combo cut their dazzling 1967 album with a startling arsenal of instruments that included banjo, fiddle, doumbeg, mandolin, viola, saz, bouzoukee, dobro, vina, authoharp, oud and clarinet. When they entertained the wide-eyed customers of San Francisco’s Fillmore and Avalon Ballrooms and Los Angeles’ Ash Grove, they frequently employed flamenco and belly dancers onstage. Just like the see-through tube with bits of colored glass and mirrors that gave the band their name, the Kaleidoscope was never the same, no matter which way you turned it!

The Soundtrack features songs from and inspired by one of the year's most wildly-anticipated films, "I'm Not There". The collection premieres new interpretations of Bob Dylan songs performed by an eclectic cavalcade of acclaimed and celebrated contemporary musicians.
"I'm Not There" includes two versions of the enigmatic title track, a new interpretation performed by Sonic Youth and the original Bob Dylan recording, a rare oft-bootlegged outtake from "The Basement Tapes" sessions which has been previously unavailable on any official release.
Many of the albums' performances include backing from the Million Dollar Bashers, an ensemble created for I'm Not There by Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo, featuring Sonic Youth drummer, Steve Shelley, Television guitarist Tom Verlaine, Wilco bassist Nels Cline, guitarist Smokey Hormel, keyboardist John Medeski and long-time Bob Dylan band bassist Tony Garnier. Eddie Vedder, Stephen Malkmus, and Karen O are among the artists backed by the Million Dollar Bashers. Other tracks on the album feature the alternative country band Calexico backing up artists including Jim James, Iron & Wine, Roger McGuinn and Willie Nelson.
One of the year's most highly-anticipated cinema releases, "I'm Not There" is a meta-biographical film re-imaging the life of Bob Dylan as portrayed by six different actors in six different phases of the artist's life and career. The film is co-written and directed by Todd Haynes, who first radicalized pop music history in film with his controversial short "Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story" in 1987 and later with his surrealist glam-rock feature, "Velvet Goldmine" in 1998.

Thanks in part to a preceding series of self-released instrumental EPs, 1998's A Thousand Leaves was among Sonic Youth's most highly anticipated releases. Public interest in underground electronica seemed to have rekindled the band's interest in making experimental-minded rock albums. The guitar interplay on tracks like "Wildflower Soul," "Hits of Sunshine (for Allen Ginsberg)" and "Karen Koltrane" demonstrate why, 18 years after they formed in NYC, this band was still regarded as the most forward-looking unit in rock.

Moby Grape followed the expansiveness of 1968’s Wow with an unadorned, back-to-basics sound on this, their fourth long-player. Bob Mosley’s understated vocal makes the ballad “It’s a Beautiful Day Today” one of the great Grape tracks, Peter Lewis’ stately “I Am Not Willing” is still a stunner and “Trucking Man” and “Ooh Mama Ooh” show that nobody could rock a shuffle like guitarist Jerry Miller and company. Most of ’69 was recorded as a quartet, with Skip Spence having just left the band. His parting gift, “Seeing,” is an alternately tender and tough tab of psychedelia that prefigures his rightly touted solo album, Oar.

Limited edition four vinyl LP pressing of this reissued collection from the greatest Rock 'N' Roll band in the world. Expanded from it's original 1975 tracklisting, Rolled Gold gathers together 40 of Mick, Keef and Co.'s best ABKCO recordings beginning with their cover of Chuck Berry's 'Come On' and ending with the acoustic majesty of 'Wild Horses'. In between, you'll find some of Rock's finest musical moments including 'Let's Spend The Night Together', 'Sympathy For The Devil', 'Gimme Shelter', 'Time Is On My Side', 'Honkey Tonk Women', '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' and many more. Rock music has had many peaks and valleys, but the Stones have continued to roll for over four decades and their reputation is based on each and every one of these recordings. UMTV.

It's inevitable that Thurston Moore's 1995 debut solo would sound similar to Sonic Youth, considering how integral his guitar playing and singing are to the band's sound. What is surprising about Psychic Hearts is how Moore twists his standard lexicon of detatched vocals, dissonant guitar lines and deliberately obscure musical/lyrical references into something resembling pop music, which is something Sonic Youth wouldn't truly explore as a band until years later. Fourteen of the album's 15 tracks are built around concise, angular guitar hooks complemented by Moore's unashamed, nearly melodic vocals. Psychic Hearts displays a softer, more reflective side of a musician known for his passion for disguising his emotions and ideas in noise, and it also offers just a glimpse at the direction Sonic Youth would eventually reinvent themselves with.

UK only 180 gram vinyl pressing. The first four songs on Unchained come from the songbooks of Beck, Don Gibson, Soundgarden, and Jimmie Rodgers. What might look like absurdly unsupportable eclecticism in other artists, of course, is pretty much standard stuff for Cash. Unchained is hardly standard, though; it's more like the best album he's made since his 1984 departure from Columbia Records. Not only is this a stack of songs perfectly and idiosyncratically suited to the man, they're given door-rattling backing treatment by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who prove as fitting for Cash's music as his own Tennessee Two was back in the day. For younger generations of musicians, having their song cut by Johnny Cash must be a little like scaling the Washington Monument. On his third album for producer Rick Rubin's American label, Cash makes Tom Petty's 'I Won't Back Down sound like a companion classic to 'I Walk the Line'. He transforms U2's 'One' into a sturdy testament of plainspoken faith, while he plumbs the netherworld of Nick Cave's 'The Mercy Seat' and Will Oldham's 'I See a Darkness'. Amid more familiar fare (including Neil Diamond's title track), the album's sing-along standout is the deadpan, down-and-out, talking blues of 'Nobody'. Cash's recent originals have the age-old purity of Appalachian music, while the traditional closing of 'Wayfaring Stranger' offers bittersweet benediction. Merle Haggard, Sheryl Crow, and June Carter Cash provide vocal cameos.
