30 years since they released their first 7" single, Kansas City's Titan Records finally returns to record bins everywhere in a deluxe 4 LP retrospective vinyl box set. From 1978-1981 the Titan label issued only eight records, but over the years their tiny catalog has crawled to the top of power pop want lists worldwide and appeared on numerous bootleg cassettes, building a legacy to rival L.A.'s Bomp or New York's Ork. Located in fly-over country, Titan was forced to start their own scene, import their own skinny ties, and scour the Missouri Valley for their own talent. Their midwest AM bubblegum roots are apparent in the likes of Gary Charlson, the Secrets, Arlis!, Gems, Millionaire At Midnight, the Boys, J.P. McClain & the Intruders, Bobby Sky, and Scott McCarl, but Titan was clearly influenced by the glam-punk spit being hocked from the 100 Club stage.

This expansive collection features 19 previously unissued recordings, a 40 page booklet crammed with photos, an essay and discography.

Marvin Gaye's 1976 album I Want You marked a change in direction for Gaye as he traded in his signature Motown soul for lush, funky, light disco and its subject matter was as close to explicit as pop records got at the time. While not as successful sales-wise as his previous landmark albums What's Going On and Let's Get It On, I Want You became Gaye's fourth top ten album on the Billboard 200 and his fifth number-one album on the R&B chart. The arrangements by the brothers Eddie and Brian Holland together with Lamont Dozier contributed enormously to the success of the Motown label. Eddie had worked together with Berry Gordy before the Detroit company was formed and reached the charts with "Jamie" in 1958. Shortly afterwards he retired from the stage and instead wrote lyrics and arranged songs for the company's singers and bands. Together with his partners who worked as composers and producers with great success in the background, he created the Motown Sound. During the years 1962-1967, no LP was released on the Motown label without the custody of the perfectionist trio. This late, and perhaps best album by the Supremes stands under the auspices of the songwriter whose music is brought to life with depth, groove and total commitment by the three female vocalists.
