Each Zerostat unit is shipped with complete instructions and information about a special 'Test Procedure' to validate that the unit is working properly. Each Zerostat unit has a 'two cycle' type of operation, when the trigger is squeezed, positive ions are generated and when the trigger is relaxed, negative ions flow. This means that it is possible to induce a charge on a neutral surface using the Zerostat. If the trigger is squeezed and the Zerostat is then removed from the surface (before allowing the trigger to return to its original position) a positive charge will be induced. Similarly, pointing the Zerostat at the surface only for the release of the trigger will induce a negative charge.

Each squeeze of the trigger results in a discharge, when stated in units of charge, is 1.5 Coulombs. The OBH-18 was released in late 2003. The function of the OBH-18 is to boost the level and correct the frequency response of a low level signal coming from a moving magnet phono pick-up on a conventional turntable. The signal required by most modern amplifiers is described as being 'LINE' level, which is, in technical terms, between 200 and 500 milli-Volts with a flat frequency response. Unless your amplifier has a specific 'Phono' or Disc input, the level will be too low and the frequency response will be wrong. The OBH-18 is designed to boost the signal and introduce an R.I.A.A. frequency response characteristic.

Separate Burr-Brown professional grade low-noise op-amps are used for each channel, to buffer the output signal and provide a very low impedance drive to any pre-amp or integrated amplifier. The OBH-15 can switch from moving magnet to moving coil cartridges, via a simple push button on the rear panel. As it has two input circuits, optimised for each type of cartridge it allows for the connection of two turntables. A high gain MC version, for low output MC cartridges, is available to order.

The OBH-15 has a built-in high performance power supply regulator circuit which makes it immune from power supply fluctuations so, it can be used with the un-regulated OBH-1, 6 Watt power supply; but it will sound better with the regulated 12 Watt OBH-2, which is available as an option.

Internally, the OBH-15 has built to the highest standards using a glass-fibre double sided, plated through hole PCB and very high-grade components. The OBH-15 looks the part too! The inclusion of a 14mm O ring spacer is supplied in with the Bias 2 cartridge box. This is fitted to the balance weight shaft before pushing the weight on as far as it goes. This automatically sets the tracking weight to the recommended range of the Bias 2 cartridge and negates the need for setup or a tracking pressure gauge.

The record adpaptor has been designed to be used with your 45RPM records that no longer have the centres in them enabling you to play your old favourites.

The SDS allows for the adjustment of both the voltage and frequency fed to the turntable motor. Adjustments are easily made from the front panel using intuitive, soft touch controls. The selected output voltage and frequency are shown using large, easy to read LED displays. The SDS slowly ramps the voltage and frequency up or down to the selected value in order to prevent premature motor wear due to abrupt changes. During motor startup, the SDS increases its output voltage in order to bring the platter up to speed quickly. Once the desired platter speed has been reached, the SDS ramps the output voltage down in order to reduce motor vibration and, therefore, the systems noise floor.

The circuit used in the SDS provides an incredibly accurate line frequency of great stability. Additionally, the electronic circuitry effectively isolates the output voltage from the input voltage, doing away with voltage spikes, low level fluctuations, RFI, and frequency variations.

Instead of merely filtering the power line, the SDS first changes it into pure DC voltage and then digitally regenerates its own clean signal. This approach is superior to that used in many of the other power line conditioners on the market.

The SDS works best with synchronous motor driven 115 volt turntables, such as those from VPI. The speed of a synchronous motor is determined by the frequency it is fed. It is only logical then, that a device whose speed is based on the line frequency will always function better when a stable frequency is delivered. A constant motor speed translates into a quieter, more faithful musical presentation.

COLLECTORS ALERT: Many historical recordings were not transferred onto modern records at the proper speed. Using the SDS, you can now correct the musical pitch of these recordings by varying the speed of your turntable. In addition, collectors who have VPI turntables that run at 78 RPM will be able to accurately adjust them to compensate for the wide variation in recording speed used in the 78 RPM era.

You will see three rubber rings on the straight shaft; these are used to set the anti-skating force.

The two rubber rings on the shaft with the grooves are used to set the height of the monofilament. Set the rubber ring on the lowest groove if it is not there already and slip the loop of monofilament over the grooved shaft. Push the second ring down to lock the loop in place on between the first and second groove. Try to keep the monofilament as level as possible but don't go crazy, it is not audible and causes no problem if it is slightly off level.

You can adjust the settings of the mechanism using the 1/16" Allen wrench provided. Adjust it so the arm can travel to the inner grooves of the record without the mechanism pulling it or causing it to skip grooves.

Minimal anti-skate force is needed do just enough to keep the image stabilized and the cantilever centered in the groove.
