**All Cartridges Installed Free Of Charge**
The VPI Classic 2 turntable comes standard with everything on the Classic 1 plus the addition of the micrometer adjusting "VTA on the fly" base. This is the ideal turntable for music lovers who want to really dial in the proper Stylus Rake Angle for different thickness records and even different cutting stylus angles in the same companies series of records.
There is no doubt, and especially after long listening tests, the records made in the late 50's and the 70's were cut differently, with different thicknesses of vinyl. For those who want to extract every last drop of information from those amazing grooves and to get the noise level as low as possible correct SRA is required.
With the Classic 2 you can adjust the SRA/VTA while you are listening, reference the numbers on the record jacket, and the next time you play that favorite record you can dial in your setting exactly. This is serious stuff and really makes for amazing retrievel of low level information. For the died in the wool cartridge swapper you can use multiple arm tubes with the carridges completely setup (VTF, Azimuth, alignment) change cartridges in 30 seconds and dial in the correct height. Think about it, a dedicated mono cartridge, a cartridge for vocals, a classical cartridge, a jazz cartridge, all completely setup and ready to play in 30 seconds.
The sound of the "Classic Turntable" is fast, clean, wide open, with deep powerful bass, and unequalled in speed stability. The "Classic Turntable" gives any turntable made regardless of price a serious "run for the money." This completely new design has produced the simplest and one of the best sounding VPI tables to date. VPI "Classic Turntable" Features: Classic 2 tonearm with "VTA on the fly", wired with silver coated pure copper wire, 10.5" long armtube made from aluminum and stainless steel, critically damped in the armtube to keep the arm and wires from vibrating.
New 6061 machined aluminum 18 pound high inertia platter with precision inverted bearing and stainless steel damping plate. Speed stability on par with a master tape - Due to the rigid mounting of motor - platter - tonearm there is no random motion to cause speed instabilities. Noise rejection allowing the "Classic Turntable" to sit on a wood shelf near four 15" subwoofers and having virtually no feedback.
Lack of random motion between the motor - platter - tonearm gives the ultimate in low level resolution. Not only does this rigidity improve speed stability, it also allows the retrievel of low level information challenging the world's great turntables and master tapes. Absolutely solid, non-resonating laminated one-piece chassis holding all comonents. This is not a wooden frame; it is a solid laminated 2.5" thick MDF block with 11 gauge steel attached to the top with silicone and long bolts through all the layers.
The chassis weighs 30 pounds and is totally non-resonant. Now with solid black oak or solid walnut wood finish on all four sides. RCA jack termination so you can use the interconnect of your choice. Tonearm anti-skate - For those that require the fine adjustment of anti-skate, it is standard on the Classic 2 tonearm.

|Coming from a Rega P25 the Classic 2 is about 4X the weight at 65lbs., and several inches wider and taller making a formidable presence on the audio stand. Everything about the engineering of this table says quality from the 25lb. aluminum/steel platter to the intricate VTA on the fly unipivot Classic 10.5 arm. The P25 is a great table and sounds very good, but the Classic 2 reminds you that you are playing with big boys toys now. The sound is well controlled with tight defined bass and a lot of slam. I won't go into all the fluffy audiophile terms to describe how this table sounds and it doesn't "blow away" the P25 (in my opinion no component blows away another unless of course you are coming from a 1960's transistor radio), but it does take it up a few steps in every category. Audiophiles don't just want to hear great sounding gear, they like to play with and admire their gear and the Classic 2 fits the bill in spades.|

"What I particularly liked about the 'table, aside from its excellent immunity from feedback, was its character, or rather lack of an easily identifiable one. Instead of the sound of older VPI tables, a dark (yin) character, we now have something approaching the completely neutral. I haven't yet been able to put my finger on its specific character, that is, if it has any. But it has allowed a kind of freedom in the sound of LPs being played back on it, one that closely resembles one aspect of the Clearaudio Statement."

"VPI's best work is now a relatively simple and easy-to-set-up player that combines an excellent chassis, built-in motor, and tonearm. Outperforming many units at stratospheric prices, it puts a premium on reliability, rather than pushing the engineering envelope to weights, loads, and gimmicks that do not survive engagement with reality. Remarkably neutral with a wide range of cartridges, and even better with the SDS Speed Control and Outer Ring Clamp. The latter makes a major difference in getting the best out of used, badly stored, and lighter-weight LPs."
