Ever since the Belgian rock band Zita Swoon released their debut album Everyday I Wear a Greasy Black Feather on My Hat ( under the name Moondog jr.) they became known as a big name in the Belgian music Industry. With the third album Life = a Sexy Sanctuary they were growing bigger and changed their music to a more poppy approach. The melodrama voice of lead singer Stef Kamil Carlens creates the emotions for the melodic sounds. Some of the songs are created around their danceable disco tunes, like "Hot Hotter Hottest" and "The Bananaqueen". Pure beauty can be found in a song like "Moving through life as prey".

Even after 20 years, Zita Swoon can still be seen as one of the strongest export products from the Belgium music scene. They released some successful albums during the years and are still active both in the studio as on stage.

Vertical Horizon is an American alternative rock band formed at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1991. Everything You Want is the third studio album by Vertical Horizon and was originally released in 1999. Everything You Want served as the debut of bassist Sean Hurley in the band and proved to be their most successful effort.

The first four tracks of the album were all released as singles. "Everything You Want" became one of the most radio played singles of 2000, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The video for "You're a God" featured actress Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. The song is featured in the 2003 film Bruce Almighty. "Finding Me" was featured on the fifth Season opener of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The album is now finally available on vinyl in Europe for the first time. A limited run of 750 copies will be available on transparent vinyl. The package also contains a lyric sheet.

Fishbone was one of the most distinctive and eclectic alternative rock bands of the late '80s. With their hyperactive, self-conscious diversity, goofy sense of humor, and sharp social commentary, the group gained a sizable cult following during the late '80s.

Truth and Soul is their second album, originally released in 1988. The album features a wide array of genres including punk, ska, reggae, soul, funk, elements of hard rock and blues. Truth and Soul contains a cover version of Curtis Mayfield's "Freddie's Dead", originally from the soundtrack to the film Super Fly and it is the first single of the album. Three other tracks were released as singles "Ma and Pa", with a video directed by Mike Lipscombe, "Change" and "One Day". The album was awarded four-out-of-five stars in 2004's The New Rolling Stone Album Guide. Music critic Tom Moon called the album one of his "1000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die" and Robert Dimery listed it as one of his "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die".

This year we are celebrating the 30th birthday of Truth and Soul. The album is finally available again on vinyl and includes the original insert with lyrics and liner notes.

Beautiful Mess is Thelonious Monster's fourth full-length album and includes collaborations with some appealing artists from the music industry. One of the most outstanding performances on the album is the duet between lead singer Bob Forest and Tom Waits, called "Adios Lounge". Bob is at his best when he is whining as a child and bringing his own voice into a classic like "Weakness In Me" (Joan Armatrading). Other artists who can be heard on the album are David Pirner & Daniel Murphy from Soul Asylum, both singing on "Blood Is Thicker Than Water" It's the combination of self-mockery and their punk riffs which sets the tone for the music on the album.

Thelonious Monster was a punk rock band from Los Angeles, USA formed in 1984. Led by singer-songwriter Bob Forrest they recorded five critically acclaimed albums and were a popular live act in the underground clubs of Hollywood. In 2011 the documentary Bob and the Monster was released, which details the life and career of Bob Forrest and featured members of Thelonious Monster.

Music On Vinyl reissues the LP Beautiful Mess for the first time on vinyl.

Plans is the fifth studio album by Indie Rock band Death Cab for Cutie, originally released August 30, 2005.

The album spawned three singles: “Soul Meets Body”, “Crooked Teeth”, and “I Will Follow You into the Dark”, with all three songs charting. “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” became Death Cab for Cutie’s best-selling single to-date, and gained the band a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals the following year.

Plans peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, and received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album at the 48th Grammy Awards in 2006.

The Mission is an English gothic rock band from the UK formed in 1986.

Initially known as The Sisterhood, the band was started by front man Wayne Hussey and bassist Craig Adams (both from The Sisters of Mercy). Aside from Hussey, the line-up has changed several times during the years and the band has been on hiatus twice.

Having sold over 4 million albums, the band reformed to celebrate 25 years of The Mission. Hussey, Hinkler and Adams reunited in 2011 to kick start a new chapter of the band and continue to tour the world & release new material.

Carved in Sand is the third regular studio album by The Mission, originally released in 1990. It reached #7 in the UK Albums Chart, making it the second of two top ten albums and overall best-selling album in the band's career. Four singles were released from the album: "Butterfly on a Wheel", "Deliverance", "Into the Blue", "Hands Across the Ocean"/"Amelia".

The band had invited members of its fan club to help select the tracks for the album.

The Old 97's are an alternative country/rock band from Dallas, Texas formed in 1993.

They are recognized as pioneers of the alt-country movement during the mid to late 90s along with bands such as Uncle Tupelo, Drive-By Truckers, Whiskeytown, The Jayhawks, and The Bottle Rockets.

Too Far To Care is the third studio album by the band, originally released in 1997. The album's title comes from the song "Streets of Where I'm From".

Lyrically the band's constant touring is evident in songs like "Barrier Reef" (with references to Chicago), "Broadway" (in New York City), and "Niteclub" (inspired, according to the band, by clubs in Cleveland, Ohio and Ann Arbor, Michigan).

"Four Leaf Clover" was originally recorded on Hitchhike To Rhome, the first Old 97's album. Rhett (vocals/guitar) was searching for a duet to record with friend Exene Cervenka and "had started work on an old-fashioned duet that I thought we might sing, but Exene proclaimed it 'too pretty'." That song later became "Fireflies." Instead, Exene sang on "Four Leaf Clover", replacing the lyric "nothing to impress you" with "nothing to attract you" which Rhett found "much sexier."

Keep It Like A Secret is the fourth full-length album released by Indie Rock band Built To Spill, originally released in 1999. With their first major label release Perfect From Now On in 1997, Built to To Spill became one of the United States' most recognizable Indie Rock bands. With Keep It Like A Secret, Built To Spill not only continued critical success, but also for the first time, significant commercial success.

During the recordings of Keep It Like A Secret, the band embraced the sounds of a big studio and focused their sound without sacrificing their fractured Indie Rock aesthetic. In a certain way, this is Built To Spill's Pop album: every song is direct and clean, without the long, cerebral jamming that characterized their earlier albums. The songwriting may be streamlined, but Doug Martsch now packs all of his twists, turns, and detours into dense, three-minute blasts.

The album spawned two EPs: "Carry The Zero" and "Center Of The Universe". Pitchfork ranked the album at #41 on their "Top Albums of the 90s" list.

Codes And Keys is the seventh studio album by Death Cab for Cutie, originally released in 2011. A much less guitar-centric album than the band ever made before, the band surprised the world with their compelling venture to new horizons.

As lead vocalist and guitarist Ben Gibbard stated: “It’s not a guitar-based record. We’ve been into vintage keyboards and playing with that palette.” Guitarist and producer Chris Walla stated: “Guitar is great; it’s a really immediate, impulsive sort of instrument. But I think if we had strapped on guitars and gone into the studio with the intent of making a sort of live-ish sounding record, we definitely would’ve retreaded some of the territory that we were in for Narrow Stairs.

In 2011, the album received a Nomination in the 54th Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Music Album.

Glow is the second studio album by English Britpop band Reef. Produced by the band and George Drakoulias, the album was released on 27 January 1997 supported by the singles "Place Your Hands", "Come Back Brighter", "Consideration" and "Yer Old". Glow topped the UK Albums Chart.

Generally speaking, Glow was received positively. Music website Allmusic gave the album four out of five stars, claiming it to be "more focused and better than its predecessor [Replenish]" and describing it as "inspired" and "terrific". Rock music magazine Kerrang! ranked the album third on their 1997 "Albums of the Year" list.

The Language of Life is the fifth album by English electronic duo Everything but the Girl, released in 1990.

Tommy LiPuma had previously worked with artists like Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Randy Newman, and George Benson and had contributed production to Aztec Camera's Love album in 1987. He had expressed an interest in producing Everything but the Girl and invited Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt to New York and LA.

Song arrangements were written by Larry Williams and Jerry Hey. The band LiPuma put together included Omar Hakim on drums, John Patitucci on bass and Larry Williams on keyboards. Ben Watt played guitar and piano, as well as doing some singing. Tracey Thorn sang only. LiPuma produced, in Thorn's words, "a fully realised, immaculately performed and produced modern American Soul-Pop record."

The Science Of Things is the third album of British rock band Bush, released in 1999. The album features more electronic influences than their previous albums Sixteen Stone and Razorblade Suitcase.

It features the hit singles "The Chemicals Between Us", which spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Modern Rock Tracks ,"Warm Machine" and "Letting the Cables Sleep", the latter becoming one of the most popular Bush songs over the years.

No Doubts lead singer, Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale's former wife, can be heard on the backing vocals of "Spacetravel"

The Science Of Things eventually reached a platinum certification in the US, selling over 1 million albums.

Narrow Stairs is the sixth studio album by indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, originally released in 2008. Four singles were released for the album: “I Will Possess Your Heart”, “Cath...”, “No Sunlight”, and “Grapevine Fires”.

Narrow Stairs reached number one on the Billboard 200, making it Death Cab for Cutie’s highest charting album to-date. The album was nominated for the “Best Alternative Music Album” award at the 51st Grammy Awards. In addition, “I Will Possess Your Heart” was nominated for “Best Rock Song”, and named iTunes UK song of the year 2008.

In 2011 guitarist and producer Walla stated, “the master plan for Narrow Stairs was to be as invisible and hands-off as a producer as I possibly could. I was really interested in seeing what would happen. When we started that record, we had been on tour for the better part of two years. All we could remember was being on stage and playing. So the whole idea was: what happens if we’re just on stage and we play, except we’re in the studio and we’re recording?” He added: “Narrow Stairs was very much a commitment to just crashing through the songs as we recorded them, like four people in a room.”

The cover art was created by designer EE Storey, the art director for Tegan and Sara.

Everything But The Girl was an English musical duo, formed in Hull in 1982, consisting of lead singer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, and singer Ben Watt.

Originating at the turn of the 1980s as a leader of the lite-jazz movement, Everything But The Girl became an unlikely success story more than a decade later, emerging at the vanguard of the fusion between Pop and Electronica.

Idlewild (1988), their most accessible recording, consists of eleven intimate songs. The setting is perfect for such moving compositions as "Love Is Here Where I Live" and "Apron Strings." The album spawned the single "I Don't Want to Talk About It," a poignant cover of a song by the late Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten which became EBTG's biggest hit to date, landing at the number three spot on the British charts. № 4 is the fourth album released by American grunge rockers Stone Temple Pilots, released in 1999. The album was a return to the band's earlier Hard Rock roots, while also blending elements of Heavy Metal, Psychedelic Rock, and Alternative Rock.

Despite the lack of promotion due to singer Scott Weiland's one-year jail sentence shortly before the album's release, No. 4 was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2000. The song "Down" was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at the Grammy Awards. The album also produced one of STP's biggest hits, "Sour Girl", which charted at #78 on the Hot 100, their only song to appear on that chart.

No.4 displays a deliberate effort by the band to return to a more Hard Rock-oriented sound featured on its first two albums. Allmusic cited the album as STP's "hardest effort" since Core, remarking that "it's as if STP decided to compete directly with the new generation of alt-metal bands who prize aggression over hooks or riffs." Stephen Erlewine also wrote that No.4 "consolidates all [of STP's] strengths."

Madrugada is the sixth and final studio album by the Norwegian band Madrugada, released in 2008.

The album was produced by Madrugada and John Agnello who also produced the band's 2001 release The Nightly Disease. The album was largely recorded in the United States. Finishing touches and mixing was done in Svenska Grammofon Studio in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Despite the sudden and tragic death of guitarist Robert Burås during the recording of the album, Sivert Høyem and Frode Jacobsen soon decided to continue with the completion of the release. The majority of Buras' guitar parts had been recorded when he died, and the rest of Madrugada stated that finishing the album was like therapy for them.

The 4th album of Hole was a huge commercial achievement, successfully bridging the gap between Grunge and guitar Pop. The band revolving around Kurt Cobain’s widow Courtney Love carved a niche for themselves as the seminal female fronted Grunge group. Established in 1991, the band functioned as a cathartic outlet for enfant terrible Love, which makes their work incredibly compelling. Their 1998 album Celebrity Skin revealed a polished, energetic sound. Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins co-wrote 5 songs on this superb album, among which the title track and “Malibu”, both of which were released as singles.

Australian rockers Silverchair released their fourth studio album Diorama in 2002. The follow-up album to Neon Ballroom (1999) was co-produced by Daniel Johns (singer, guitar)and David Bottrill. Diorama marked Johns' first production credit, while Bottril had worked on albums for a variety of other bands (Muse, Tool, The Smashing Pumpkins).

On Diorama Silverchair worked with composer Van Dyke Parks. The album contains various orchestral arrangements and power ballads, which was a change from the post-grunge music typical of their earlier work (Frogstomp and Freak Show), but consistent with the band's previous orchestrations on the album Neon Ballroom. The album includes singles like "The Greatest View" and Without You". Diorama reached number One on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums Chart and won five ARIA Awards in 2002.

Ancient Melodies of the Future is the fifth full-length album released by indie rock band Built to Spill. The album was recorded at Bear Creek in Woodinville, Washington. With Ancient Melodies of the Future, Built to Spill expanded on the big sound that they crafted with KEEP IT LIKE A SECRET.

"In Your Mind" is a beautiful track with its Far Eastern guitar lines and thumping beat. "Alarmed" spirals into a satisfying guitar and keyboard noise jam, while "Happiness" is like a speeding car - it has the intensity, rush, and twanging swagger of an automobile race. The album closes with "The Weather," a shimmering love song that begins with a resonant acoustic guitar. The narrator describes being "outside in the cool night, and the stars gravitate towards you."

These few lyrics are a fitting description of Built to Spill, a band that goes on and on, always changing, always moving forward, but somehow always staying the same - familiar and comforting - as they carry the ancient melodies of personal histories, theirs and yours, into the future.

Originally released in 1996, Come Find Yourself is the debut album by New York based alternative band Fun Lovin' Criminals. Their musical style is primarily eclectic, covering styles such as Hip Hop, Rock, Funk, Blues and Jazz. Their songs often deal with life in New York City, as well as urban life in general, covering such issues as organized crime, recreational drug use, violence, poverty and politics.

The band gained a large following internationally, notably in northwest Europe, around the release of their first albums Come Find Yourself and Loco in the late '90s. Come Find Yourself includes the hit singles "The Fun Lovin' Criminal" and "King Of New York". The biggest hit on the album is "Scooby Snacks", featuring samples from films by Quentin Tarantino and a guitar sample from Tones On Tail "Movement Of Fear".

All Shook Down is the seventh and final studio album by the band The Replacements, released in 1990. The band, hailing from Minneapolis, started out in 1979, and are considered pioneers of Alternative Rock, influencing a variety of acts along the way. Their influences ranged from The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Slade, Lou Reed and The Beatles to Punk rock bands such as The Ramones, Johnny Thunders, Dead Boys and The Clash.

At the time All Shook Down was released, the band consisted of guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars, added by lead guitarist Slim Dunlap. This album was originally intended to be Westerberg's solo artist debut. As a result, numerous session and side musicians including The Velvet Underground's John Cale performed on All Shook Down's 13 songs, supplemented by the three other band members.

"Merry Go Round" was the band's most successful Modern Rock Tracks single, reaching #1 for four non-consecutive weeks. The album also received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

In 1996 Alice In Chains performed their first show in three years for MTV Unplugged. Unfortunately, it also turned out to be one of the last ones they would ever do, as lead singer Layne Staley's drug addiction was already getting the better of him. Visibly frail, he and band members Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and Sean Kinney still out-performed many of the other acts that crept in front of MTV's camera, making this one of the most legendary performances of the series. The band perform songs from both Facelift and Dirt albums as well as their critically acclaimed E.P. Jar Of Flies, creating new and exciting arrangements for their heavier songs while reinventing others. The tension and excitement in the audience is palpable throughout the entire show, and it makes this a fantastic record of the greatness of Alice In Chains.

Congratulations is the second major label studio album by American psychedelic rock band MGMT, released on April 13, 2010. The album is a departure from the Synth Pop style that first brought the band acclaim on their major label debut, Oracular Spectacular, and features a more progressive, guitar-driven sound.
