O Be Joyful (Out Of Stock)180 gram vinyl in gatefold jacket from Dualtone Music.
O’ Be Joyful is a raw, honest, gritty and minimalist offering that packs a wallop with its pure energy, distinctive harmonies and stellar songwriting.
Shovels & Rope consists of two artists with music careers prior to joining forces. Cary Ann Hearst is an acclaimed singer/songwriter who has been featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition and had her song “Hell Bells” used in HBO’s True Blood. Michael Trent is a celebrated solo artist and the former singer/guitarist of band The Films.
Since 2010, Shovels & Rope has been traveling the highways and back roads of North America, logging hundreds of shows and performing for crowds large and small. In 2011 alone, they were invited to tour with a wide array of acts including Justin Townes Earle, Jason Isbell, the Felice Brothers, Hayes Carll and Butch Walker, and have accumulated a fiercely loyal fan base along the way, building an audience the old-fashioned way.1. Swimmin' TimeDouble 180 Gram Clear Vinyl Mastered Specifically For Analog!
There’s no backing off or backing down on Swimmin’ Time, the duo’s highly anticipated sophomore set as Shovels & Rope, an album that brims with the confidence, energy and sinew of a band that’s accustomed to treating their career as a marathon, rather than a sprint. The album, recorded at the studio Michael Trent constructed in the couple’s home, finds them cutting a new path through the sonic thickets they navigated so nimbly on their breakthrough bow, O’ Be Joyful – a disc that won rave reviews from outlets like Mojo (which called it “thrilling”) and Filter, which said “[they] were solid singer-songwriters on their own, but this is truly a thing of magic.”1.
