These cute little guys produce around 40 watts RMS in Ultra-Linear mode or around 20 watts in TRIODE from a quartet of EL84 / 6BQ5 tubes driven by a 6414 dual triode driver and a 12AT7EH input dual triode. The EL84 has been one of our very favorite tubes for many years, extremely long lasting and reliable, and can be considered the smaller brother of the much beloved EL34: really quick-sounding both in the bass and especially in the top end. And of course this has a lot to do with our Manley Output transformer, the same one we build for the Manley Stingrays.
We have been building EL84 amplifiers for well over a decade. The Manley-branded Tiny Triodes were much acclaimed in the early 1990's. In 1993 after the Manley company split off from VTL, the Manley Tiny Triodes underwent a chassis rework to become the Manley 35 watt Monoblocks soon followed by the 50 Watt Monoblocks. The more powerful Ultra-Linear mode operation became the standard with hard-wired Triode operation or Triode/UL switching available upon special request.
After the introduction of the Stingray Integrated amplifier in 1998, we then went back and incorporated the Stingray's new circuitry design refinements into the 50 Watt Monoblocks. Finally, big bass out of a small amplifier! So, topology-wise, the post-1998 50 watters were the monoblock version of the stereo Stingray, with the additional variable feedback feature. After the introduction of the fabulous Manley Snappers in 2002, it was obvious that we had to update our classic EL84 50 watt monoblocks both cosmetically and feature-wise. Make-over time!
Everyone was always asking us for Triode/Ultra-Linear switching. We listened to your requests and feature the Triode-UL switch as standardequipment on the MAHI's. As are the beautiful german WBT binding posts. Also we increased the B+ rail capacity in a major way. The 50 Watt monos only had around 45 Joules or energy storage in the B+ rail. Now the MAHI's have nearly 115 Joules of energy storage for the B+ rail. You can hear this improvement in the especially in the bass region: tighter, faster, deeper. More is more in this case.
The chassis design is like a mini-Snapper. They are so cute! And of course they come standard as a pair so you get.... "Mahi-Mahi."
We believe the MANLEY MAHI's give a lot of value for an affordable price and we think you will be surprised at just how big these little guys sound. You have no idea how fabulous these amplifiers are.$4,900.00Manley Mahi AmplifierBuy Now
Manley Headphone Amplifier (Pre-Order)
Manley Laboratories have been designing and manufacturing professional and hi-fidelity audio equipment for the last twenty five years. Headphone listening has become more and more popular in recent years. To meet this new demand Manley have combined its professional and domestic engineering skills to develop a new and exciting groundbreaking product, The Manley Headphone Amplifier.
Headphone listening is not new to us, we have developed headphone mixers for the professional industry and our Neo-Classic 300B preamplifier was designed with the serious headphone listener in-mind, which now has quite a cult following. The new Manley Headphone Amplifier addresses absolutely every possible feature the headphone user could desire.
This feature rich product has no less than twelve independent controls designed for maximum performance and maximum control. We design and manufacture our own output transformers and this is where this product excels. The Manley Headphone Amplifier utilizes hand-wound air gapped dual mode output transformers. The user can configure the unit for all triode Push-Pull mode or Single-Ended mode. The transformer can be configured to drive three types of headphone loads, covering a range from 12 to 600 ohms.
The enthusiast can also vary the Feedback from 0dB to 10dB, maintaining a ruler-flat frequency response across the audio band, demonstrating how stable the design is. For increased transparency and accuracy we have incorporated a Precision Stepped Relay Volume control with perfect channel balance. A balance control is also available for extra sensitivity. The Manley Headphone Amplifier operates fully symmetrical, enabling it to drive balanced headphones through its XLR output. Also available is the standard non-balanced “Jack” plug or TRS connection. Another very useful feature is a preamplifier output, which routes your first input through the system when not in use, no need for unplugging sources! The Manley Headphone amplifier can also be used as a stand-alone transformer coupled preamplifier, so it can be partnered with any power amplifier if so desired.
With the advent of expensive and high technology headphones it was important for the Manley design team to think about protection. So the Manley Headphone Amplifier features a user defined headphone overload protection system. The user dials this in so precious headphones are never overdriven. For maximum performance and the lowest noise floor, The Manley Headphone Amplifier incorporates a very high-tech switching audiophile power supply. The high-tension and low-tension rails are all fully regulated offering super low impedance for a fast and dynamic response.
The Manley Headphone Amplifier also incorporates a tone control circuit…what? for an audiophile product!! Yes! With the expertise gleaned from building professional studio equipment, we have incorporated the best possible solution for a tone control. It is completely switchable, so for the real purist it is completely out of the circuit, but if you need that slight adjustment for a hard digital recording the feature is there.
The Manley Headphone Amplifier is a very unusual design. Zia Faruqi, who is responsible for running the engineering team and industrial design at Manley Laboratories, developed its concept. “I wanted a design that would reflect the use of this piece of equipment. Its shape was inspired by a head, a piece that you could rest your headphones on, a piece that you want to indulge yourself in” Mitch Margolis who worked on the Steelhead and our 300B amplifiers worked with our head engineer Humberto Rodriguez to finalize its design. Available in three different colors for today’s lifestyle choices. Champagne & White, Titanium & Bronze and Copper & Black.$2,950.00Headphone AmplifierPRE-ORDER Buy Now
Manley Chinook Phono Stage
Beautiful build quality
Handcrafted in the USA
Flexible cartridge loading options
Angling for an affordable yet world-class vacuum tube phono stage? The hunt is over! The spawn of the Manley Steelhead - one of the world's greatest phono preamplifiers - Stereophile Class A Recommended Component and The Absolute Sound's Preamp of the Year, has arrived. The Chinook epitomizes the sound of the Steelhead. Designed for the music lover, not the switch tweaker.
Like the Steelhead, each channel employs the two triode sections of a 6922 for amplifying duties with highly accurate passive RIAA equalization networks. In the Chinook, the signal is then directly coupled to another 6922 dual triode serving as the output driver in a White Follower configuration. This output stage circuit is our favorite because of its super-low output impedance and beefy current-driving capabilities. It can drive long cable lengths and difficult loads, tube or solid-state. Bring it on. No wimpy cathode followers here!
Setting up the Chinook couldn't be easier. There are two internal settings for optimal gain: 45dB for Moving-Magnet cartridges and 60dB for Moving-Coil cartridges. Set it and forget it! The back panel contains DIP switches for adjusting the input resistive and capacitance loading values. 31 possible options between 26 and 800 Ohms plus 47k Ohms and 7 capacitive loading choices between 50 pF and 350 pF provide flexibility to match any cartridge and fine tune the tone. Audiophile-grade and time-proven componentry is used throughout, embodying Manley's dedication to seductive sonics, combined with the reliability that professionals around the world depend on. At just about a quarter of the price of our revered Steelhead preamplifier, the Chinook's focus is on elegance of design, careful execution, efficient construction, and appreciable quality.
Designed and built in California, the Chinook exemplifies Manley's commitment to our local community and to a simple, clean, and quiet signal path. The Chinook demonstrates the supreme linearity of vacuum tubes while providing the flexibility needed to embrace any turntable setup. Everything from the most exotic 180 gram audiophile pressing to 25 cent thrift-store classics will be reproduced accurately and musically.

Manley Jumbo Shrimp Pre-Amplifier
Handcrafted in the USA
The JUMBO SHRIMP shares key outward features found in many of its counterparts both past and present. It is a twochannel single-ended line level control preamplifier with five sets of stereo inputs, and two sets of paralleled stereo line outputs. A five-position input selector switch routes the chosen signal directly to the first amplifier tube’s control grid. Amplified signals, boosted about 4 times [11.8 dB] are then fed through a dedicated White-Follower stage (using 5670 triodes) to effortlessly drive the (motorized!) high quality ALPS stereo variable attenuator, known for its stability, long life, ease of servicing and good inter-channel level tracking characteristics. This is followed by a similarly appealing, center-detented ALPS stereo balance potentiometer.
The attenuator network output is then fed to a special White-follower output stage. This output circuit has been a favorite of ours for many years mainly due to the stage’s inherently low output impedance, simplicity, wide bandwidth, ease of drive, modest feedback requirements and graceful overload characteristics. Ordinarily, the typical JUMBO SHRIMP user would not ever begin to approach the limits of this output stage under normal line and loading circumstances.
High quality polypropylene dielectric film-and-foil capacitors have been employed at all signal-coupling points in the circuit along with two extravagant 30 microfarad metalized monsters coupling the output stage signals to the output RCA jacks. These are all MultiCaps made by our buddy Bas Lim at Rel Cap. We know you would rather listen to superior capacitors such as these over some cheap electrolytic capacitors like you might find in other gear.
But the JUMBO SHRIMP’s cardinal feature is its uncomplex non-inverting signal path. This minimal signal path approach is designed to bring unbalanced RCA-type line inputs up to levels suitable for proper drive of downstream power amplifiers in the simplest and most direct way possible. This is accomplished by using only three active stages, as described above, through the judicious use of vacuum tubes, whose purpose-designed application in audio amplifcation is, as always, pressed to full advantage. By so doing, the endeavor here is to provide the most direct, uncolored, quiet and wide-band signal path possible so that the native character of the chosen source material may be heard with out encumbrances from a set of imposed limitations brought on by the preamp. In this spirit, there are no provisions for balanced inputs or outputs. Since the whole guts of the Jumbo Shrimp are inherently single-ended, adding balanced I/O would require additional circuitry, transformers, or IC’s which would inevitably color the sound.
Lastly, we would be remiss if we did not mention the clever REMORA REMOTE CONTROL that comes standard with every Jumbo Shrimp. This little box commands the motorized ALPS volume control via radio frequency signals, so it works through doors, walls, cabinets, you name it!$3,850.00Manley Jumbo Shrimp PreamplifierBuy Now
