The Stiff Singles 1976 - 1977 Quick View
xThe DamnedThe Stiff Singles 1976 - 1977
It was the summer of 1976 when Dave Vanian, Rat Scabies and Captain Sensible recruited guitarist and songwriter Brian James, they played their first gig supporting the Sex Pistols at the 100 Club and quickly signed to Stiff Records and began writing the very first chapter of the punk rock history books. Their debut 7” - New Rose – was written by Brian James and backed by a proto-thrash version of The Beatles’ Help. It was recorded by Stiff’s in-house producer, Nick Lowe and set the punk dream alight at exactly 9.00am when record shops opened for business on 22 October 1976, stealing a march on the Pistols by becoming what is widely acknowledged as the very first punk record ever released. The band really came into their own with their second single - Neat Neat Neat - which had two cuts on the B-side, Stab Yor Back and Singalongascabies. Produced, like New Rose, by Nick Lowe, the vinyl had a message from one band member scratched in the run-out groove: “this is your captain speaking...” So what were Captain Sensible’s favourite acts on Stiff, one journalist asked him in 2007? “I wasn't interested!” he insists. “It was mainly pub rock in the early days, which we despised and sneered at in our young and snotty way…” After a special 7” - Stretcher Case Baby - cut to give away at gigs celebrating the band’s first anniversary, they went back into the studio, this time with Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason at the controls.
Third single Problem Child was written by Brian James with Rat Scabies and featured new recruit Lu Edmonds on guitar. An incendiary two minutes of the band in their prime, it failed to crack the UK top 40 but did make number 27 in NME’s alternative singles chart. By the end of 1977, the Damned were ready to part with Stiff, just as Brian James and Lu Edmonds were ready to part with The Damned. Their last single was Don’t Cry Wolf, backed with another Nick Mason-produced track, One Way Love.
BMG now proudly present this limited edition set comprising of 5 x 7" vinyl singles including the famed first ever punk single ‘New Rose’ and all the other early hits from the impressively chaotic punk quartet. All singles have been recreated with their original artwork, including the ultra-rare, previously fan club only ‘Stretcher Case Baby’. These are all packed in a superb box, collaged with original press cuttings from back in the day. Also included is a Damned embroidered patch, exclusive to this boxset.

Strung Out: Volume One (Box Set) (Awaiting Repress) Quick View
xStrung OutStrung Out: Volume One (Box Set) (Awaiting Repress)
Remixed & RemasteredIncludes 4 LP’s (3 Albums + Bonus LP Of The Skinny Years), DVD & Giant Poster
STRUNG OUT’S last album, 2009’s Agents of the Underground, was their 7th full length and celebrated the band’s 20th anniversary. A true testament to their relevance and longevity is their ability to organically evolve through the years. STRUNG OUT began their career as a strictly melodic punk band known for their tight musicianship and catchy melodies but evolved into a more aggressive, metal-infused veteran punk band. That is what all of us were most interested in capturing: the true musical journey of one of the founding bands on Fat Wreck Chords.
This box set, Volume One, showcases the first three albums: Another Day in Paradise, Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues, and Twisted By Design, all fully remixed by Ryan Greene, helping to display the true power of these songs along with nuances previously unheard. We’ve re-scanned all the artwork from the original pieces and included deluxe foldout inserts with never before seen photos and extensive liner notes from the band. The real gem in this set, in the works for a decade (!!!), is the first-ever STRUNG OUT DVD! You get a full 2012 concert where they performed the Suburban and Twisted albums in their entirety, all professionally filmed and recorded, and that’s just the start. There’s a TON of footage from the ‘90s: shows, tour antics, interviews, behind the scenes stuff; a veritable treasure trove of classic STRUNG OUT. For you vinyl hounds, the LP box set includes The Skinny Years… Before We Got Fat, remastered and on vinyl for the first time ever! Finally, we think the box set does a nice job of encapsulating the distinct personality of Jim Cherry’s contribution to STRUNG OUT. Jim is another member of the Fat family who passed way too soon, and as STRUNG OUT vocalist Jason Cruz states in his liner notes to the fans, “This box set is as much for Jim as it is for you.” We hope it serves his legacy and your expectations.

Experience the punishing sonic origins of a punk icon. Collected here for the first time, and skillfully remastered from original board tapes, demos, and session masters, this collection is an authoritative chronicling of the wellspring and maturation of Grant Hart, Greg Norton and Bob Mould - three Minneapolis teenagers who'd go on to become the most heralded trio of the American punk underground. Follow the Hüskers to their earliest gigs in 1979, through extensive road dog touring, and to the start of their partnership with West Coast tastemaker SST in 1983.This primitive stage in the fabled career of Hüsker Dü is presented as a deluxe box set and packaged with a hardbound book crammed full of never before seen photos, flyers, and a sprawling essay with participation from the band. Rocket To Russia (40th Anniversary Deluxe) Quick View
xRamonesRocket To Russia (40th Anniversary Deluxe)
Ranked 105/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.Features New 40th Anniversary ‘Tracking Mix’ By Original Rocket To Russia Engineer/Mixer Ed Stasium
Limited To 15,000 Copies
Rhino will continue their Ramones archive releases with a 40th anniversary super deluxe edition of the band’s third album, Rocket to Russia.
The 1977 album is reissued as a 3CD+LP set and features two mixes of the album: a remastered version of the original and a new 40th Anniversary ‘Tracking Mix’ by original Rocket To Russia engineer/mixer Ed Stasium. The latter provides a ‘back-to-basics’ version of the album, and has a different track listing from the 1977 original. Stasium explains things in the sleeve notes: “When putting together this new Tracking Mix, I decided to include the versions of ‘I Don’t Care’ and ‘It’s A Long Way Back to Germany,’ since they were recorded during the Rocket To Russia sessions at Mediasound, and are completely different takes that have never been heard before. Sheena has been omitted, as it was recorded in a totally different session a few months prior, in-between the Leave Home and Rocket To Russia albums.” Both of these are squeezed onto the first CD.
The second CD contains 24 rare and unreleased recordings including rough mixes from sessions at Mediasound and The Power Station. There’s also an early version of Needles And Pins (with Tommy on drums), the B-side single mix of Babysitter, an alternate version of It’s A Long Way Back To Germany with Dee Dee on vocals and more.
The final CD includes a complete unreleased concert included on the third disc. The gig is from 19 Dember 1977 at the Apollo Centre in Glasgow, Scotland. This has been newly mixed from the multi-track tapes by Ed Stasium.
The fourth disc is a vinyl LP which actually features the tracking mix, not the original album.
As with previous sets this comes packaged in a 12″ x 12″ hardcover book and will be limited to 15,000 copies. The pages in the book feature stories about the band by Sire Records founder Seymour Stein, details about making the album by Stasium, and extensive liner notes by Jaan Uhelszki.

Leave Home (40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) Quick View
xRamonesLeave Home (40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
3xCD/1 Vinyl LP Deluxe Edition Features New 40th Anniversary Mix By Album Engineer/Mixer Ed StasiumAlso Includes A Newly Remastered Version Of The Original Mix, Rarities, And Unreleased Studio And Live Recordings
Includes 12x12 Hardcover Book
Limited Edition Of 15,000 Individually Numbered Copies
Following the success of last year’s 40th-anniversary edition of the Ramones’ debut album comes a deluxe version of the group’s follow-up, Leave Home. Originally released in January 1977, this 30-minute opus of buzzsaw rock introduced fans to classics like “Pinhead” “California Sun,” and “Swallow My Pride.”
To celebrate the album’s indelible legacy, Rhino will release the 3xCD/1 Vinyl LP LEAVE HOME: 40th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION. It contains two different mixes of the album, a remastered version of the original and a new 40th-anniversary mix by original Leave Home album engineer/mixer Ed Stasium, along with a treasure trove of unheard recordings, and an unreleased live show recorded in 1977 at CBGB’s.
The deluxe edition will be produced in a limited and numbered edition of 15,000 copies worldwide and comes packaged in a 12"" x 12"" hardcover book. In addition to the music, the set also features stories about the band by legendary former manager Danny Fields, as told to renowned music scribe Michael Azerrad, as well as details about making the album by Stasium.
The first disc features two different mixes of Leave Home, opening with a remastered version of the original stereo mix. The highlight is the new 40th-anniversary mix of the full album, created by Stasium from the original multi-track tapes, and designed to better reflect the Ramones’ raw power and beef up the sound. In the set’s liner notes he writes: “Generally, the consensus was [the original] maybe sounded too clean, the guitars panned completely left-right detracted from the band’s foreboding presence, and the reverb effects especially were a little excessive.” The new 40th-anniversary mix is also featured on the LP that accompanies this deluxe edition.
The second disc is overflowing with more than two dozen rare and unreleased recordings. It begins with rough mixes for 15 tracks recorded for Leave Home at Sundragon studio in New York. Most are missing elements that had yet to be recorded, offering a fascinating insight into the band’s recording process and the development of the album. Also included are “Sheena Is A Punk Rocker” and “Babysitter,” both of which served as replacement songs on the US and UK versions of the album, respectively, when the band removed “Carbona Not Glue” from the track list shortly after initial release. The disc concludes with a combination of 18 alternate mixes and instrumental versions of all tracks from the album.
The final disc features an unreleased recording of the band’s concert at CBGB’s on April 2, 1977. The show took place a few months after Leave Home was released and includes live performances of album tracks like “Suzy Is A Headbanger,” “Oh Oh I Love Her So,” and “Babysitter,” the latter of which was only performed live a handful of times, along with classics like “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue.”

Ranked 33/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.180 Gram Vinyl Is A Previously Unreleased Mono Mix, Newly Remastered By Original Album Producer Craig Leon
Includes 12x12 Hardcover Book
'Limited Edition’ Of 19,760 Individually Numbered Copies (Nod To Year Of Release)
Warners/Rhino will mark the recent 40th anniversary of the Ramones 1976 self-titled debut with a four-disc deluxe edition.
The “Greatest Punk Album Of All Time” (to use the words of Rolling Stone) is brief – it only runs for 29 minutes – but its impact was enormous both in terms of the early punk scene on both sides of the Atlantic and in subsequent decades for countless other artists.
This new deluxe edition features on disc one, the stereo mix and a previously unreleased mono mix of the album, newly remastered by original album producer Craig Leon, who recalls, “We had an idea to record at Abbey Road and do both a mono and stereo version of the album, which was unheard of at the time. I’m thrilled that now, 40 years later, we followed through on that original idea.”
The anniversary edition’s second disc spotlights single mixes, outtakes, and demos. Of the 18 tracks selected, eight of them have never been released, including demos for I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, 53rd and 3rd, and Loudmouth.
The third and final CD captures the band performing two full sets live at The Roxy in West Hollywood on August 12, 1976, with the evening’s second set making its debut here. The set is completed by the unheard mono mix pressed onto a vinyl LP.
This set comes packaged in a 12″ x 12″ hardcover book which features production notes about the recording of the album by producer Craig Leon, an essay looking back on the Ramones’ early days by journalist Mitchell Cohen, along with additional pictures taken by Roberta Bayley, who took the iconic album cover photo. With a nod to the year of release, this Ramones deluxe is a ‘limited edition’ of 19,760 individually numbered copies.

CD Of Outtakes And Contemporaneous Live Material
The two albums are presented with the original restored artwork, which includes paintings by Deryk Thomas. The 2500 micron black lined box - with original logo in silver foil block in black paper - will also include 2 rare posters, a CD of outtakes and contemporaneous live recordings.
White Light from the Mouth of Infinity: Swans’ seventh studio album originally released in 1991, is considered the starting point for the second section of Swans’ inimitable history. Described as “…the glistening, glimmering sounds of the pensive countryside” by Stereogum, this will be the first time White Light from the Mouth of Infinity has been available on vinyl since its original release on Young God Records in 1991. The vinyl issue will include the track ‘Blind’, not included in the original release.
Love of Life: the band’s eighth studio album, followed soon after in 1992. According to Allmusic’s Ned Ragget, “Love of Life continues the astounding creative roll Swans found themselves on … yet another Swans masterpiece." The vinyl version of this album has also been unavailable since its original release.

Dark Grey Colored VinylMastered For Vinyl By Masterdisk
Faithful, Updated Rendering Of Original Art Printed At Stoughton Printing Co.
Limited Foil-numbered Edition Of 500 Dark Grey Vinyl Manufactured For Pristine Sound At Quality Record Pressings
Every Damned record is different. And every one takes the band's signature sound in a new direction. The Black Album is no exception, perhaps the band's most ambitious of its excellent discography.
This double LP follow-up to the superb Machine Gun Etiquette (also available from DPR) is the fourth full length release by the British punk founding-fathers. The LP originally came out in July of 1980, making this its 24th anniversary.
This sprawling multi-faceted masterpiece is comprised of traditional punk rock, dark lyrical introspection, haunting sounds, and one side of hard-edged live recordings. It further explores the musical boundaries The Damned were clearly eager to avoid rather than embrace.
From the songs opener, ''Waiting for the Blackout,'' through ''13th Floor Vendetta'' (alluding to the movie The Abominable Dr. Phibes), to its side-length ''Curtain Call,'' The Damned prove why they are the most referential and chameleon-like of all the original punk innovators. And why they remain one of the best.

Punk rock. Just the name brings to mind Mohawks, leather jackes, brightly colored hair and torn-up jeans. It makes you think of power chords, angry lyrics, and fast, pounding drums. It reminds you of angst, youth revolt, and crazy mosh pits.
Since the mid-70s and the heyday of bands like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, and the Clash, punk rock has grown from a bunch of hooligans getting fed up with mainstream rock to ironically becoming an integral part of mainstream rock. Bands like Green Day, The Offspring, and Blink-182 are practically household names.
When you feel like getting back to those old days of punk, you need to grab yourself a punk rock vinyl. And if you feel like experiencing the current punk seen…you still need to grab yourself a punk rock vinyl.
