Bob Dylan In Concert: Brandeis University 1963

Last Known Archival Recording of Dylan Before He Became a Star

Professionally Recorded on 7-Inch Reel-to-Reel Tape: Phenomenal Sonics Capture the 21-Year-Old Bard Solo and Acoustic

Features Stripped-Down, Intense Versions of Songs from the Then-Forthcoming The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and Still Long-Off The Times They Are-A Changin'

Early, archival insights into the burgeoning genius of a young Bob Dylan don't come any better than this: A previously unknown live recording of a 21-year-old Dylan taped at the Brandeis First Annual Folk Festival in Waltham, Massachusetts, on May 10, 1963, Bob Dylan In Concert - Brandeis University 1963 captures the rollicking wit, deadpan delivery, and driving intensity of the young artist's onstage persona in an assortment of end-of-the-world songs (none of them commercially available at the time) performed in front of an appreciative audience two weeks prior to the release of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. Indeed, these two performances took place just weeks before Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind became a smash for Peter, Paul, and Mary and months before his appearance at the Newport Folk Festival would forever change the course of music history.

The Bob Dylan In Concert - Brandeis University 1963 concert tape was discovered recently in the archives of the noted music writer and Rolling Stone co-founder Ralph J. Gleason, where it sat on a shelf for more than forty years. It had been forgotten, until it was found last year in the clearing of the house after my mother died, said Toby Gleason, Ralph's son. It's a seven inch reel-to-reel that sounds like it was taped from the mixing desk.

Drawn from two sets that spring night at the Brandeis Folk Festival, tracks on Bob Dylan In Concert - Brandeis University 1963 include Honey, Just Allow Me On More Chance (incomplete), Talkin' John Birch Paranoid Blues, Ballad Of Hollis Brown, Masters of War, Talkin' World War III Blues, Bob Dylan's Dream, and Talkin' Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues.

Previously available as a limited time offer, Bob Dylan In Concert - Brandeis University 1963 has been reissued in response to overwhelming popular demand for a wide release. The new Columbia/Legacy edition features liner notes penned exclusively for this release by noted Bob Dylan scholar Michael Gray, author of The Bob Dylan Encyclopedia and the three-volume Song & Dance Man: The Art of Bob Dylan, who provided an explication of the album's seven songs and historical/cultural context for the performances.

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (Single)

    12 Maxi-Single Reissue

Featuring I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man And Hot Thing

I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man is a song originally recorded in Prince's home studio in 1982. The song is an upbeat pop number featuring a combination of live drumming with two drum machine patterns. Also featured are two guitar solos, one wild and energetic and one more bluesy and subdued in the full album cut. The lyrics paint the image of a woman seeking a man to replace the one who left, while Prince refuses, saying that she would not be satisfied with a one-night stand. The music and accompanying music video pushed this song to the top 10 in the US.

The 12-inch single includes the full album version of I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, as well as several remixes of Hot Thing. One of these was included on the Ultimate compilation album in 2006. Hot Thing received enough airplay by DJs to chart on its own, reaching #63.

Freddie Mercury was a man of many talents and many different sides. The songs he wrote for and with Queen filled stadiums around the globe and have rightly gone down in history, but he also embarked on a solo career that took him from the clubs of Munich and New York to the great opera houses of the world.

He was the ultimate showman, but he kept his private life away from the prying eyes of the media; a larger than life rock star who loved disco, classical music and ballet. He was a restless spirit, a true chameleon who reveled in his own contradictions.

All the different sides of this iconic musician can be found on Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles. Fittingly released on Mercury Records for the world outside North America, and on Hollywood Records in North America, this box set brings together all 13 of Freddie's solo singles on individually coloured vinyl.

From his debut solo single I Can Hear Music, released under the name Larry Lurex, through the dance floor-influenced solo anthems of the 80s and up to his collaborations with legendary Spanish opera singer Montserrat CaballÉ including the timeless Barcelona, this is a journey through the career of a unique talent.

Born Farrokh Bulsara on the East African island of Zanzibar on September 5, 1946, the rechristened Freddie Mercury was already a star in his own mind by the time he formed Queen with Brian May and Roger Taylor in 1970. Where his band mates had studied astrophysics, dentistry and electronics at college, Freddie majored in stardom.

His first solo single actually emerged a week before Queen's own debut 7". Released in 1973 and credited to Larry Lurex in a nod to the fashionably flamboyant noms de rock of the glam era, the Beach Boys cover I Can Hear Music and its B-side, Goin' Back, were recorded as a favour towards a musical project by Trident Studios' house engineer Robin Geoffrey Cable, in 1972.

As Queen's career rocketed towards the heavens, Freddie poured his energies into the band. It would be more than a decade before he released his second solo single, the pulsating, electronic Love Kills. Originally released in 1984, Love Kills was a collaboration with famed Italian disco producer Giorgio Moroder for the soundtrack to Moroder's update of the groundbreaking 1927 silent movie Metropolis. A Top 10 UK hit, it found Freddie moving away from Queen's traditional sound, paving the way for what he would do next.

Released in 1985, Freddie's debut solo album, Mr Bad Guy, fully explored the music he had fallen in love with in the dance clubs of Munich and New York. The four hit singles released from that album - I Was Born To Love You, Made In Heaven, Living On My Own and Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow, all of which are included in the Messenger Of The Gods box set - crackled with playfully hedonistic energy, but they also hid a more serious side to Freddie. Here was a man who craved the good times but wanted something deeper as well.

Within two years, he had abandoned the sound of the clubs for the music of the opera house - though not before releasing both the epic single Time, the theme to the lavish stage musical of the same name produced by Dave Clark, and his outrageous (and strangely revealing) Top 5 cover of The Platters' 1965 hit, The Great Pretender.

In 1987, he dived headlong into the world of opera and classical music with the towering single, Barcelona. A duet with legendary Spanish soprano Montserrat CaballÉ, an idol of Freddie's, it came about after the opera star asked him to write a song about her home town.

Barcelona remains one of the most momentous hit singles not just of Freddie's career but in pop history. Not only did it lead to an album of collaborations between these two huge talents, but the title track was also chosen as the official anthem of the 1992 Olympics. That song, together with the two other singles taken from the album, The Golden Boy and How Can I Go On, are all included as part of Messenger Of The Gods with their original B-sides.

In October 1988 Freddie and Montserrat were invited by the King and Queen of Spain to perform Barcelona on the steps of Barcelona's National Palace of Montjuic at the open air La Nit festival which was staged to mark the arrival of the Olympic Flag from Seoul.

But sadly, Freddie would not live to see the fruits of his collaboration with Montserrat CaballÉ showcased at the Barcelona Olympics. He passed away on November 24, 1991, just seven months before the Games took place. The grand opening ceremony was a fitting tribute to a man who thrived on spectacle.

Messenger Of The Gods is completed by two posthumous singles, In My Defence and Living On My Own (No More Brothers Radio Mix), the latter of which became Freddie's first solo number 1 and was the biggest selling European single of the year in 1993.

Had he lived, it is anyone's guess where this most restless and protean of singer's muses would have taken him. But Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles is a towering legacy, a collection of songs which will never lose their stature of classics and will live on forever.

Celebrating 100 years of Thelonious Monk, this limited-edition vinyl box set includes all five of the 10" LPs which the legendary pianist recorded for the jazz label, spanning 1952 to 1954. Thelonious Sphere Monk (1917-1982) remains one of the most highly regarded jazz artists in history, known for his unique style on and off the piano. Grab The Next Train

Born near Detroit, Michigan, Marshall Crenshaw began playing guitar at age ten and he received his first break playing John Lennon in the off-Broadway company of Beatlemania. In 1987, he played Buddy Holly in the Richie Valens biopic "La Bamba." While living in NYC, he recorded the single "Something's Gonna Happen" for Alan Betrock's Shake Records, which led to a deal with Warner Bros. His debut album, Marshall Crenshaw was acclaimed as a pop masterpiece upon its release in 1982 and established him as a first-rate songwriter, singer and guitarist. The record spawned the Top 40 single "Someday, Someway," which rockabilly singer Robert Gordon covered and scored a hit with a year earlier, and other classics such as "(You're My) Favorite Waste of Time," "Whenever You're On My Mind" and "Cynical Girl." The great songs continued with the Life's Too Short album on MCA ("Fantastic Planet of Love"), three albums for Razor & Tie and the 2009 release Jaggedland ("Someone Told Me," "Passing Through," "Never Coming Down

A quote from Trouser Press sums up Marshall Crenshaw's early career: "Although he was seen as a latter-day Buddy Holly at the outset, he soon proved too talented and original to be anyone but himself." All Music Guide captured Crenshaw's vibe perfectly: "He writes songs that are melodic, hooky and emotionally true, and he sings and plays them with an honesty and force that still finds room for humor without venom."

"His intelligence, integrity, and passion for the great song always show up in his music," wrote Robert Christgau in his Consumer Guide of Marshall Crenshaw. Over a span of 30 years, Crenshaw has released 13 albums, all of which have received the highest marks from critics and have earned him a fiercely loyal fan base.

"I wanted to think of a different way of working that would inspire me and keep me motivated," Marshall Crenshaw says of his newest endeavor: a subscription-only service that addresses the recent seismic changes in the music-industry landscape by cutting out the record-company middle man to distribute his new recordings directly to fans.

The subscription service, which the veteran singer/guitarist/songwriter/producer recently launched via a successful Kickstarter funding campaign, will provide fans with a steady stream of new Marshall Crenshaw music via a series of exclusive three-song 10-inch, 45-rpm vinyl EPs on Addie-Ville Records, six of which the artist plans to release over a two-year period.

Each EP will consist entirely of newly recorded, never-before-released material, encompassing a new original Crenshaw composition, a classic cover tune, and a new reworking of a time-honored favorite.

"I really do think that vinyl sounds best, and that playing a vinyl record is still the optimum listening experience," Crenshaw asserts. "And with the sound quality that you get at 45 rpm, I think that these things are going to deliver the goods, sonically."

All three tracks were mastered for maximum awesomeness by legendary engineer Greg Calbi, who will handle mastering duties on the entire EP series.

Billie Holiday (born Eleanora Fagan; April 7, 1915 - July 17, 1959) was an American jazz singer and songwriter. Holiday was a seminal influence on jazz and pop singing. Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo. Above all, she was admired for her deeply personal and intimate approach to singing.

"Billie Holiday Sings" was her first full-length album, released in the United States by Clef Records in 1952 in the 10-inch format. "An Evening with Billie Holiday" was the second 10 inch LP studio album released in 1953.

    Mayday

He's the techno punk, the unboxable nomad: Berlin DJ and producer BOYS NOIZE will release his 4th solo album MAYDAY via Boysnoize Records. The third track off the new album, "Starchild", features Channy Leaneagh of Poliça, and has been chosen as the world record by Zane Lowe on his BEATS 1 show.

Alex Ridha, better known as BOYS NOIZE, made his DJ debut at the age of 15, taking a teenager´s love of house and techno to a global scale. Accolades have been bestowed by Rolling Stone, who named him one of the "Top 10 DJ's Who Rule The World" and Beatport, who elected him "Best Electronic Act" 3 years in a row. He´s rocked the world's biggest stages, lit up Coachella three times, took Lollapalooza by storm, and headlined festivals and clubs on every continent - from Berlin techno temple Berghain to Fuji Rock in Japan to Justin Vernon's Eaux Claires Festival in the woods of Wisconsin.

As an artist and producer, Ridha has created a sound and a vision that's peerless, uncompromising, and enduring - respected in the scene, banging from underground to mainstream, it flies in the face of convention at every turn. He's remixed Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, David Lynch, Feist and Nine Inch Nails, collaborated with Snoop Dogg, Erol Alkan, and Jarvis Cocker, worked on Mark Ronson's "Uptown Special" and most recently on the soundtrack for upcoming Oliver Stone's Snowden, and released group projects with genius pianist Chilly Gonzales (Octave Minds), Skrillex (Dog Blood), and Mr. Oizo (Handbraekes). The list of names alone speak volumes about Ridha's multifaceted approach.

Now BOYS NOIZE is back with MAYDAY, his most dynamic album to date. Infectiously energetic, fusing the energy and spirit of punk with the raw power of modern techno and the early days of rave, MAYDAY exists as a new expression entirely, transporting the innocence of a bygone era into the here and now without ever sounding anachronistic or nostalgic. Collaborations with POLIÇA, HUDSON MOHAWKE, BENGA, REMY BANKS, SPANK ROCK, and some special secret guests (the liner notes are worth a read) broaden the range further than ever. "I always try to challenge myself as a producer and a musician," says Ridha. "Keeping the purity of electronic music but taking it somewhere new is the most difficult, and most motivating. MAYDAY is me taking the music I love to the future, no matter how uncertain the future seems."

MAYDAY speaks for a generation that no longer gives a damn about boundaries. Walls are for breaking down. MAYDAY's for tearing them to shreds.

Miles Davis Volume 1 is the first in a pair of compilation albums of recordings made by Miles Davis over 1952-1954, released by the Blue Note Record label.

The twelve inch LP (BLP 1501) was originally released in 1956 (followed by Volume 2 (BLP 1502)) after Davis won the Down Beat readers poll as best trumpeter. The two volumes of rereleased Miles Davis material were the first releases in Blue Note's new 1500 series of 12LPs. The music compiled on the two volumes was from three separate recording sessions made over 1952-1954, some of which had been previously issued as singles, and as three now discontinued 10 inch LPs. Volume 1 contained takes of the May 9, 1952 and April 20, 1953 sessions for the label, including alternate takes of some songs.

A Blue Note Essential, Miles Davis Volume Two Is Part Of The Blue Note 75 Anniversary Vinyl Reissue Campaign

The twelve inch LP was originally released in 1956 (following Miles Davis Volume 1 after Davis won the Down Beat readers poll as best trumpeter. The two volumes of repackaged Miles Davis material were the first releases in Blue Note's new 1500 series of 12LPs. The music compiled on the two volumes was from three separate recording sessions made over 1952-1954, some of which had been previously issued as singles, and as three now discontinued 10 LPs.

Volume 2 contained material from all three sessions, and some previously unreleased alternate takes. The master takes of the March 6, 1954 session, which made up the bulk of the 12LP, had originally been issued in 10LP format under the title Miles Davis, Volume 3, and the May 9, 1952 material had been previously released the 10LP Young Man with a Horn.

The Classic 4 is a precision measuring device in its own right; as well as telling you what's in your records' grooves, it will also tell you just how competent your setup is. - Roy Gregory

The Classic 4 is really, chief designer and former co-owner, Harry Weisfeld's table. He didn't design this table for the consumer, he designed it for his own personal us so he could listen to a 12 inch arm on a Classic table (Classic 1-3 do not have the space to properly mount a 12 inch arm.) We presented the table at the 2012 New York Audio Show to make a statement while also announcing the VPI Traveler. It wasn't intended to bring into the VPI line but the positive feedback and interest immediately made it a staple in the production line.

Identical build as the Classic 3 but with a larger size chassis, plus having a 12 inch arm gives you more stability, lower tracking distortion, and additional low level resolution from your records. Having the additional size gives the listener a chance to mount a second 10 or 12 inch tone arm in the rear. Why would you have two arms? This lets you have both a stereo and mono cartridge set up at the same time.

The Classic 4 features a ½ thick machined aluminum plinth bonded to a 1/8 steel sub plate with dampening fabric in between. This is then bonded to 2 of MDF creating a plinth which is so massive and well damped it virtually eliminates resonance. The Classic 4 can use either an extended Classic Signature arm or an extended Classic 3D arm.

The custom nature of this table comes from the numerous options you have. You can mount 1 or 2 tonearms, 10" or 12" arms, any arm made by almost anyone, it is all customizable and affordable.

    Singles Breaking Up

By no means a release of new or current Don Cab material (and originally released in 1999), Singles Breaking Up (Vol. 1) offers quite a range of the band's history to appreciate. The oldest recordings found here are programs 1-6 which became the first two singles and a b-side for the fourth. They were recorded in a 1/2 inch 8 track studio by Lee Hollihan of Valencia, PA (the original Good Morning Vietnam man) for only $25 an hour. The next batch, 7-9, were recorded by Steve Albini in his once home studio and were a part of the For Respect Sessions. Program 10 was also recorded in this same studio by colleague engineer Bob Weston. Program 11 was recorded in Detroit by engineer Al Sutton and was a part of the sessions for Don Caballero 2. Lastly, programs 12-13 were recorded again by Steve Albini in the B room portion of this Chicago studio Electrical Audio. The photographic art concept for the whole anthology is simply this: 7-inch phonograph singles breaking up, in the kind of setting of giving Abby Road back to the people.

    Boston Club 1980

Live At The Boston Club - Boston, MA - On December 3rd, 1980

This recording - captured at The Boston Club on the 3rd December 1980 and broadcast to the surrounding area by local FM radio - proves that despite all obstacles, Aerosmith was still fully capable of performing a dynamic show.

Playing numerous cuts from the new album as well as older classics like 'Walk This Way,' 'Rats In The Cellar' and 'Big Ten Inch Record,' the sheer energy exhibited by the band clearly demonstrates that the spark was still alive, which no doubt played an integral role in their revival as the 1980s progressed.

When the Levee Breaks (Limited Edition) (Awaiting Repress)

    Plated And Pressed At RTI

Cut By Bernie Grundman On All Analogue Tube Cutting System Using All Upgraded And Modified Vintage Sculley Cutting Lathes

Mastered Direcly From The Original 30 ips 1/4 Inch Analogue Master

Vanessa Fernandez covers Led Zeppelin tunes in "unplugged" acoustic arrangements.

Brilliant rhythm guitar and solos from arranger-guitarist Tim Pierce including an extended electric guitar solo on the rock version of Whole Lotta Love as well as killer vintage slide work on When The Levee Breaks; awesome drumming and majestic kick drum work from Jim Keltner on Kashmir, Babe and Immigrant Song; driving electric bass lines from Chris Chaney on many of the tracks; memorable B3 and Wurlitzer fills and runs from keyboardist Jim Cox; audacious violin solos and fills from Charlie Bisharat on Kashmir and Immigrant Song; and, last but in no way least, stirring percussion backing from the great Luis Conte on When The Levee Breaks, Black Dog and Whole Lotta Love (acoustic). And throughout every song the magnificent incomparable vocals of Vanessa. Yes - the album was recorded all analogue multi track but several of the vocal tracks are the complete original live track used without any overdubs or fixes. The vocal performance on Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is gonna leave some listeners breathless!!

Engineered by Michael C. Ross, mixing of the all analogue album, When the Levee Breaks by Vanessa Fernandez, was completed at United Recordings (formerly known as Oceanway Recordings). The mixing was done in the legendary studio A with it's great sounding custom built mixing board. The album was mixed down to 1/4 inch 30 ips tape and delivered to Bernie Grundman Mastering where the mastering and lacquer cutting was done.

All the above elements combined to create memorable and immensely satisfying versions of several well known Led Zeppelin songs and the results are in - an album of epic musical and spectacular sonic quality!!

    Van Halen Deluxe Box Set

Remastered Directly from the Analog Master Recordings by Chris Bellman

Van Halen will release its first-ever live album to feature original singer David Lee Roth. Recorded on June 21, 2013 at the famed Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT includes 23 songs, spanning all seven of the band's albums with Roth.

TOKYO DOME LIVE IN CONCERT features an electrifying performance by singer David Lee Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen, and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen. Mixed by award-winning engineer and mixer Bob Clearmountain (Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Roxy Music, Nine Inch Nails, and many more), and mastered by Chris Bellman, the album features such classic anthems as "Dance The Night Away," "Beautiful Girls," "And The Cradle Will Rock " "Unchained," and "Everybody Wants Some!!" as well as blistering versions of "Tattoo," "She's The Woman," and "China Town" from the group's most recent studio album, A Different Kind of Truth.

Van Halen reinvented the sound of hard rock in 1978 with its influential and wildly successful eponymous debut album and then achieved even greater success six years later with 1984. Both albums would define a generation while selling more than 10 million copies each in the U.S. alone to earn diamond-certification from the RIAA. The band recently went back to the original analog tapes and remastered both of these landmark albums - Van Halen and 1984 - which are now also set for release on March 30, 2015 through Warner Bros. Records.

Considered one of the greatest debut albums in rock history, Van Halen took the music world by storm in 1978 with an 11-song manifesto that features some of rock radio's most played songs of all time and scorching concert staples like "Runnin' With The Devil," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Jamie's Cryin'," the band's signature cover of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me," and Eddie Van Halen's finger-tapping tour de force, "Eruption." Six years and five albums later, Van Halen had become one of the biggest bands in world around the release of 1984, which includes a number of the band's most legendary songs such as the #1 hit, "Jump," "Panama," and "Hot For Teacher."

Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums for Bernie Grundman Studios, Hollywood, CA, was enlisted for these new versions. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes for 180-gram vinyl.

    Toys In The Attic

Ranked 228/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Remastered From The Original Source Tapes!

Contains the classics Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, & Toys In The Attic

After nearly getting off the ground with Get Your Wings, Aerosmith finally perfected their mix of Stonesy raunch and Zeppelin-esque riffing with their third album, Toys in the Attic. The success of the album derives from a combination of an increased sense of songwriting skills and purpose. Not only does Joe Perry turn out indelible riffs like Walk This Way, Toys in the Attic, and Sweet Emotion, but Steven Tyler has fully embraced sleaziness as his artistic muse. Taking his cue from the old dirty blues Big Ten Inch Record, Tyler writes with a gleeful impishness about sex throughout Toys in the Attic, whether it's the teenage heavy petting of Walk This Way, the promiscuous Sweet Emotion, or the double-entendres of Uncle Salty and Adam's Apple. The rest of Aerosmith, led by Perry's dirty, exaggerated riffing, provide an appropriately greasy backing. Before Toys in the Attic, no other hard rock band sounded like this. Sure, Aerosmith cribbed heavily from the records of the Rolling Stones, New York Dolls, and Led Zeppelin, but they didn't have any of the menace of their influences, nor any of their mystique. Aerosmith was a gritty, street-wise hard rock band who played their blues as blooze and were in it for a good time; Toys in the Attic crystallizes that attitude.

    Parts Primitive

"Parts Primitive" is the debut album from London-based band Primitive Parts; consisting of Sauna Youth, Monotony and Male Bonding alumni Lindsay Corstorphine (guitar / voice) Kevin Hendrick (guitar) and Robin Christian (drums). After signing to Trouble in Mind earlier this year they immediately bought a Tascam 388 multitrack tape device & set to record their debut. "Parts Primitive" consists of ten close-knit and succinct songs that aim to evoke a sonic space that could be an imagined 1970s. 'Miracle Skin', 'Signal', 'Rented Housing' and 'Troubles' are influenced equally by the dynamic Australian garage rock of The UV Race, Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Total Control as they are by the pop sensibilities and British charm of early Eno, The Kinks and Blur. Parts Primitive was recorded by the band directly onto two 7 reels of quarter inch tape, mixed by Mark Jasper at Soundsavers and mastered by Mikey Young overseas. Primitive Parts have shared stages with Twerps, Franz Ferdinand, The Homosexuals and Juan Wauters. Having recently bought a car, they are due to embark on a full UK tour in Autumn.

    London Fog 1966

Collector's Edition Boxed Set Features Previously Unheard Concert Recordings From 1966 On CD And Vinyl

Includes 8 x 10 Prints Of Unseen Photos And Replica Memorabilia

Before The Doors took the music scene by storm in 1967, they were the house band at the London Fog, a Sunset Strip dive bar located just footsteps away from the world famous Whisky a Go Go, the future home of many of the band's most legendary performances. The Doors will open a virtual time capsule in December with LONDON FOG 1966, a Collector's Edition boxed set that features unearthed audio recorded at the club in May 1966. Previously unreleased and not even known to exist until recently, this marks the earliest recordings of the band and finds the quartet mixing blues covers with early versions of Doors originals.

LONDON FOG 1966 will be available as an individually numbered limited edition of 18,000 copies from Rhino/Bright Midnight Archives. Presented in a lift-top package designed to look like a vintage storage box, the set features seven songs on both CD and a 10-inch record that's made to resemble a test pressing. Noted Doors engineer Bruce Botnick recently mastered the audio for this collection.

Along with the unreleased music, the set is packed with memorabilia and historic liner notes to provide a true time capsule of that fabled night at the London Fog, including a poster, the set list handwritten by John Densmore, a program for the Royce Hall UCLA student film screening, plus a London Fog coaster. There are also liner notes included from Sunset Strip legend Ronnie Haran-Mellen, who was the talent booker at the Whisky a Go Go. Haran-Mellen saw The Doors live for the first time at the London Fog and then booked them as the permanent house band at the Whisky, leading to the band's signing to Elektra and meteoric rise to superstardom.

Also contributing liner notes is Nettie Peña, one of the lucky few to be in attendance at the London Fog for this fabled show. Peña was a pivotal force in this release coming together as she captured the audio on a ¼" reel to reel recorder, which was the property of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Her father was a teacher for LAUSD and let her borrow the recorder to take to the show. Peña also photographed the band that evening and five black and white 8x10 reprints of these unpublished photos are included in the Collector's Edition, featuring a fresh-faced Morrison on a cramped stage with John Densmore, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek.

The show featured on LONDON FOG 1966 took place the same year that The Doors recorded their eponymous debut. Released in January 1967, the album would become one of the most influential in rock history. Like many of the band's early concerts, the show captured on this deluxe set reflects the group's deep love for the blues with covers of standards like Muddy Waters' "Rock Me" and "I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man." The set also includes raw performances of "Baby, Please Don't Go" (Big Joe Williams), "Don't Fight It" (Wilson Pickett), and "Lucille" (Little Richard).

During their residency at the London Fog, The Doors frequently worked out new songs on stage that would eventually appear on various studio albums. At this show, the band played two originals. The first, "Strange Days," would become the title track for the band's second studio album, which also came out in 1967. This is one of the only known live recordings of this track. The other Doors original, "You Make Me Real," wasn't officially released on a studio album until Morrison Hotel in 1970.

"To hear 'Strange Days,' that came out on their second album, in almost final shape so early on was truly amazing," says Jac Holzman, the President of Elektra Records who signed The Doors to their first recording contract.

Going back to the band's earliest days is a natural starting point for The Doors 50th anniversary celebration.

Crenshaw's music still pops with the same rootsy authority as it did back when record albums were the preferred delivery system of rock 'n' roll and a tweet was a tweet. - The Huffington Post

Marshall Crenshaw is best known as the writer and performer of such timeless classics as Someday Someway, (You're My Favorite) Waste Of Time and There She Goes Again. He has also written the Top 10 single Til I Hear It From You for the Gin Blossoms and the title song for the film Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story which received both a Grammy and a Golden Globe nomination.

He appeared in the films La Bamba (as Buddy Holly) and Francis Ford Coppola's Peggy Sue Got Married. Crenshaw can be heard on his own radio show, The Bottomless Pit on New York's WFUV.

Crenshaw's most recent project has been a popular and critically acclaimed series of 10 vinyl EPs sold individually. Each EP contains a new song, a cover song, and a re-make of one of Crenshaw's own classics. His fourth EP, Red Wine, features the great new title song as well as a cover of James McMurtry' Right Here Now and a re-make of Crenshaw's classic Delilah.

    Birth Of The Cool

    Capitol Records 75th Anniversary Vinyl

Birth of the Cool is a compilation album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, originally released in 1957 on Capitol Records. It compiles twelve tracks recorded by Davis's nonet for the label over the course of three sessions during 1949 and 1950.

Featuring unusual instrumentation and several notable musicians, the music consisted of innovative arrangements influenced by classical music techniques such as polyphony, and marked a major development in post-bebop jazz. As the title implies, these recordings are considered seminal in the history of cool jazz. Most of them were originally released in the 10-inch 78-rpm format and are all approximately three minutes long.

    Apocalipstick

Society would deem that a prodigious girl can't be in a progressive rock band while also being in complete control of its creative vision, business plan and social messaging. Society is wrong. Clem Creevy, a 19-year-old teen Queen dreamed up Cherry Glazerr in her LA bedroom alone and is perhaps more capable of figuring a music career out than anyone who attempts this treacherous life path.

Back in 2014, much-loved Cali imprint Burger Records released their intoxicating debut Haxel Princess and Suicide Squeeze released the Had Ten Dollaz 7-inch.

On Apocalipstick, the band worked with "rock'n'roll wizard" Joe Chicarelli [White Stripes, The Shins, The Strokes] and Carlos de la Garza [Bleached, M83, Tegan and Sara]. With their help and the band's newfound self-discipline and motivation, Cherry Glazerr has evolved into a wildly complex, hugely guitar heavy, and unapologetically loud machine.
