    Common Bond

Long time Billy Joel bandmate Mark Rivera releases his debut album Common Bond in 2014. The album's title is a nod to staying true to your roots and the ties that bind. Mark has worked with Billy Joel for over 30 years and with Ringo Starr for 18 years and both artists make guest appearances on Common Bond. Mark's "band leaders" couldn't be more enthusiastic.

"I LOVE 'Common Bond.' It really rocks in a good old way - like we did back in the day. Your voice sounds great and the band kicks ass. I crank it up in the car," Billy said from backstage at Madison Square Garden.

Backstage on the All-Starr Band's Summer Tour, Ringo said in his trademark wit, "I'm only here to promote Mark Rivera .Mr. Showbiz himself!!"

Mark and producer Jimmy Bralower have assembled a stellar group of musicians to play on Common Bond.

    Music Of My Mind

Ranked 284/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Music of My Mind features a 21-year-old Stevie Wonder deploying an array of styles and influences including his earliest fusions of soul and rock. Originally released in 1972, the landmark album marked the first of five consecutive Stevie Wonder releases that would become hailed as his 'Classic Period.' Standout tracks like Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You), Happier Than The Morning Sun and the funky jam, I Love Everything About You are some of the first indicators of Wonder's true potential and ambitions as a trailblazing artist. Reissued on 180g Vinyl!

    Brazilliance (Pure Pleasure)

More than seven years before Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd introduced the bossa nova of Antonio Carlos Jobim to American audiences, guitarist Laurindo Almeida and altoist Bud Shank (in a quartet with bassist Harry Babasin and drummer Roy Harte) recorded the intriguing music heard on this LP. The performances are very close to bossa nova in their combination of cool-toned jazz and Brazilian rhythms; in fact, these are arguably the first bossa nova recordings, long before even Jobim and Joao Gilberto initially recorded. Only four of the 14 tunes are not based on Brazilian folk songs, and many of the songs (particularly Carinoso) are quite memorable. This historically significant, very accessible, and highly recommended release is a gem.

    Musicians:

    • Laurindo Almeida (guitar)

    • Bud Shank (alto saxophone)

    • Harry Babasin (bass)

    • Roy Harte (drums)

    Recording: 1954

    Production: Richard Bock

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Living On The Other Side

The Donkeys are more than simply four California beach bums who love to surf, drink beer, and jam as the sun sets over the Pacific. If their back story contains those top-down cars and suntanned utopian surf tableaus, it also contains the malaise and the escape fantasies familiar to all suburban kids of the 80s and 90s. Miraculously, the music manages to communicate both moods at once. Any expression of existential ennui - is this all there is? - is soothed by an unrushed guitar lick and a harmonized twang that becomes almost meditative. This record is about rolling down the windows, cranking up the stereo, and hitting the open road.

Dragged Down A Dead End Path

Rarely does a debut record come bursting out of the gates this ferociously angry and, frankly, awesome. Stirring up a pissed off mix of Napalm Death and His Hero Is Gone, Colorado's Call Of The Void pound out a furious ten-song grand slam of a record. Dragged Down A Dead End Path truly lives up to its name, because this is a record that beats listeners into submission. Blending hardcore, sludge, powerviolence, crust and grind, Call Of The Void are legit rising stars in hardcore and metal. Dragged Down A Dead End Path's crust and grind elements seamlessly merge to conjure visions of grind godfathers Pig Destroyer while effortlessly treading the abrasive caustic nature of Converge's hybrid progressive hardcore and Mastodon's technical metal-tinged rock mastery.

    White Colored Vinyl

The final installment in Michael Nesmith's American Trilogy, Nevada Fighter chronicles not only our great nation, but the fragmentation of his First National Band. Recorded from August 1970 through January of 1971, the album augments the original band's line-up (Red Rhodes, John London & John Ware who had disbanded before release) with guest musicians such as James Burton, Ron Tutt, Joe Osborn & Glen D. Hardin. The album revisits one of Nesmith's earliest compositions Propinquity (I've Just Begun To Care), which was penned back in 1965 prior to Nesmith becoming a Monkee, ultimately producing Nesmith's fourth and final post-Monkees chart hit. The album's title track, Nevada Fighter€ was also a charting single in April 1971, reaching #70.

The album's first side is all Nesmith originals, while side two features covers of Harry Nilsson, Bob Wills, and others. Issued in May 1971, Nevada Fighter became another collectable that was never reissued in its original form. It is available again on gold vinyl from Sundazed for the first time since the 1970's.

25th Anniversary Reissue Of Influential Landmark Album

    Certified Gold In 1998

Remastered By Emily Lazar At The Lodge

"Maybe the greatest work of traditional American indie rock that
anyone has ever made. It's also probably the best road-trip album
of its generation and the signal of a rare talent's arrival. It deserves
to be celebrated. Let's do that." - Stereogum

"A landmark of foul-mouthed, compromised intimacy, a tortured
confessional, a workout in female braggadocio, and a wellspring of
penetrating self-analysis and audacity." - The New Yorker

"Exile is just one perfect song after another" - Rolling Stone

"The genius of Liz Phair's debut is its wonderful simplicity. Phair
was as straightforward as you could get-- her music was incredibly
catchy, rootsy pop, fueled by timeless, original melodies and lyrics
whose honesty was refreshing and, occasionally, shocking." - Pitchfork, #5 in the list of top 100 albums of the '90s

2018 marks the 25th anniversary of Liz Phair's
landmark Exile in Guyville album. On May 4th,
Matador Records will reissue the album on vinyl
and CD. Re-mastered by Emily Lazar at The Lodge,
the album is set for a remembrance worthy of
its greatness. In addition to the straight reissue,
Matador is also releasing Girly-Sound To Guyville, an
extensive vinyl box set to celebrate the anniversary.

Originally released in 1993, Exile In Guyville is
a seminal album and a feminist landmark. Its
legendary status has only grown over the years.
It's continually included in countless lists Rolling
Stone's 500 Greatest albums of all time + 100 best
albums of the 90s, Pitchfork's Top 100 albums of the
90s, etc. Numerous essays and think pieces have
been written about it and the number of accolades
    piled on is endless.

Since the release of Exile in Guyville, Liz Phair has
continued to defy expectation and break barriers.
She has released five albums and is currently
working on a new one. She has also composed
music for television shows and received awards for
that work. In November, it was announced that she
would be fulfilling a longtime dream to be an author,
having received a two-book deal with Random
House. Her first book will be called Horror Stories
which focuses on "heartbreak, motherhood, and
    everything in between".

    Punishment For Decadence (Pre-Order)

    Release Date: July 6, 2018*

Punishment for Decadence is the second album by the Swiss thrash metal group Coroner, originally released on August 1, 1988. It bears many similarities to the previous album, except the band's performance is more precise and features increased use of slightly more melodic guitar work, as well as a slightly different lyrical style.

In preparation of their upcoming studio album release, CORONER's revered 80's catalogue is finally being re-released now: "R.I.P." (1987), "Punishment For Decadence" (1988) as well as "No More Color" (1989) have been carefully re-mastered and are now finally available again on LP for the current generation of Metalheads to rediscover the group's outstanding, timeless and highly creative early output. Look out for further info on more and new CORONER material coming soon

    Born Free (Out Of Stock)

    Includes CD

Kid Rock's 8th studio album, Born Free was produced by Rick Rubin and mixed by Greg Fidelman. The album is in many ways a transformational album for Kid Rock. While there is still the edge, wit and swagger of previous albums, he doesn't rap, there's no metal and there isn't even a parental warning sticker.

Says Kid Rock, The catalyst for this record was Detroit, and my thoughts on the world through the lens of Detroit. Watching everything go downhill over the past few years, the economy, the loss of jobs everywhere, I wanted to make a record that reflected the times but that still had soul.

The bulk of the album was recorded live in a two week span in Los Angeles with a stellar cast of musicians including Heartbreaker Benmont Tench, Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith, David Hidalgo from Los Lobos and Chavez guitarist Matt Sweeney. Studios in Detroit, Nashville and Atlanta were used to incorporate collaborations with Bob Seger, Sheryl Crow, Zac Brown, Trace Adkins and in a pairing surely never to be replicated, T.I. and Martina McBride on the track Care.

Kid Rock and Rick Rubin, as friends, have spent many hours talking about their respective histories, starting in hip-hop, crossing into and creating new territories, as well as the need for a great new American classic rock record that challenges the field. Born Free is in part the result of those conversations, an album that is meant to be played from start to finish.

Stylistically rooted in 1980's thrash metal the band have stated influences include acts such as Nuclear Assault, Kreator, Agent Steel, Sodom, old Slayer, and early Megadeth. Gama Bomb's lyrics often refer to the horror, action and science fiction movies, cartoons and computer games of the 1980's, as well as paying tribute to many classic heavy metal themes. The band is known for injecting their own sense of humor into their lyrics, with bizarre song concepts which lampoon classic thrash metal topics. Recurrent themes to be found in Gama Bomb songs are cannibalism, war, zombies, human sacrifice, ghosts and murder, but also racism and global warming.
