    The Best of 2 Tone

In 1979, Jerry Dammers from The Specials launched the cult music label 2 Tone Records, with the independent label
Chrysalis. 2 Tone was most famous for releasing ska and reggae-influenced music with a punk rock and pop music
overtone. Artwork was central to 2 Tone Records. Designer Horace Panter and graphic designer John Teflon Sims
Dammers created the Walt Jabsco logo of a man in a black suit, white shirt, black tie, pork pie hat, white socks and
    black loafers.

The Best of 2 Tone is a compilation of the best tracks from the label's history from The Specials debut 'Gangsters',
Madness' 'The Prince', The Beat's classic cover of Smokey Robinson's 'Tears of a Clown', The Selecter's 'On My Radio'
up until The Special AKA's 'Nelson Mandela' (recently covered by Bruce Springsteen) along with 13 other classic cuts.

A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes

NEKROMANTIX is a musical unearthing of the biggest themes from the greatest works of monster, zombie, vampire, werewolf and b-horror fiction; ripped from literature, comic book pages or classic celluloid. NEKROMANTIX chases a darkly romantic muse with an even darker humor.

A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes broadens the NEKROMANTIX legacy with expansive ambition that never sacrifices the trio's inherent grittiness, furiously stoking and reshaping the flames of the creative vision begun in Denmark with legendary labels like Nervous Records, through the band's master classes in punk n' roll albums stateside with Hellcat Records, the label cofounded by Tim Armstrong and Brett Gurewitz.

Armed with his signature coffn bass, chilling baritone, monstrous expressions and ten-stories-tall haircut, Kim Nekroman has earned tremendous respect, admiration and goodwill from a fiercely dedicated legion of hard-partiers, rabble-rousers, well-meaning degenerates, grease monkeys, outlaw bikers, nostalgic tastemakers and forward-thinking punks. It's a crew of supporters as diverse as the otherwise classic and timeless music the Danish-born California transplant has unleashed as leader of NEKROMANTIX.

Nekroman has been joined by skilled guitarist Francisco Mesa for nearly a decade now, with drummer Adam Guerrero bringing a fresh injection of passionate enthusiasm to the band in 2014. A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes is a fertile proving ground for a reenergized lineup that fans of the band have already loved for two years. New songs like "Glow in the Dark," "War Bats" and "Resting Witch Face" are instant classics, standing mightily alongside the greatest NEKROMANTIX songs enduring in their set list.

To their dedicated army of supporters around the world and across every dimension, NEKROMANTIX stands tall among the ghosts in rock n' roll's undead cemetery.

    Hub-Tones

Already the most formidable new trumpeter in jazz in 1962, Freddie Hubbard came into his own as a composer with this album with great originals that range from the complex, ferocious swinger Hub-Tones to his poignant Lament For Booker, written for the later Booker Little. James Spaulding, Herbie Hancock, Reggie Workman and Clifford Jarvis are all at their peak, bringing the brilliant music to life with artistry and feeling.

Quartets: Live At The Village Vanguard Vol. 2

Part Of The Blue Note 75th Anniversary Vinyl Reissue Campaign

Named Jazz Album of the Year by readers of Downbeat Magazine, this double album features tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano during two appearances at the Village Vanguard recorded ten months apart. Other than the leader, the pair of quartets are completely different and they bring out two sides of Lovano. The earlier session features the leader in a stimulating piano-less quartet, matching wits and creativity with flÜgelhornist Tom Harrell. While the music is closer to Ornette Coleman than to Gerry Mulligan (to name two famous pianoless groups), Harrell's tone more closely resembles Chuck Mangione than Don Cherry although fortunately he is much more inventive. The four Lovano originals are adventurous and all of the musicians sound as if they are stretching themselves. The second disc showcases Lovano in a more conventional quartet. The repertoire (just one original this time) covers John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, and Gordon Jenkins and finds the tenorman displaying his roots in Sonny Rollins. The rhythm section on the later date (pianist Mulgrew Miller, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Lewis Nash) is excellent at accompanying (rather than challenging) Lovano. In both cases, Joe Lovano is heard in prime form, making this an easily recommended two-fer.

Grand Encounter: 2 Degrees East 3 Degrees West (Pure Pleasure)

Also reissued as 2 Degrees East, 3 Degrees West and occasionally listed under tenor saxophonist Bill Perkins' name, this classic session is the ultimate in cool jazz. Perkins' mellow tone matches quite well with the quiet but inwardly passionate playing of pianist John Lewis, guitarist Jim Hall, bassist Percy Heath, and drummer Chico Hamilton. Lewis is featured with the rhythm section on I Can't Get Started, Hall is added for Skylark, and the full group plays three standards plus Lewis' memorable (and atmospheric) 2 Degrees East, 3 Degrees West.

    • John Lewis (piano)

    • Bill Perkins (tenor saxophone)

    • Jim Hall (guitar)

    • Percy Heath (bass)

    • Chico Hamilton (drums)

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Bela Bartok: Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 (Speakers Corner)

Bartók's Second Violin Concerto combines a potent mixture of traditional concerto writing, compositional history and biographical upheavals. It was one of the last works he wrote before emigrating to the USA, and its classical three-movement form unites a mature feeling for form, sparkling musicality and exceptional violinistic sophistication.

Bartók employs the inexhaustible sources of tonal writing with superb mastery to produce his own distinctive tonal language. In his dissonantly sharpened, expressive, even audacious music one can recognise peasant dance, cantilena, variation movement, rondo form, and twelve-tone themes, which however remain tonal.

During his career spanning 60 years Isaac Stern recorded this major contemporary work several times and demonstrates once again his superb mastery of his instrument in this particular recording. With bravura he conjures up eruptive snatches of melody out of the rhapsodic depths, allows the slow movement to glow with pastoral sentiment, and tears through the vast variations finale with a perfect command of the score, his instrument and his creative prowess.

    Sons Of Soul

Sons of Soul is the 1993 third studio album by American R&B group Tony! Toni! TonÉ! The band originally recorded for the album at several studios in California, including Westlake Recording Studios and Paradise Recording Studio. When they became jaded with the various people frequenting those studios, Tony! Toni! TonÉ! moved their sessions to Caribbean Sound Basin in Trinidad, where they ultimately wrote and recorded most of the album.

Sons of Soul was produced entirely by the group, who worked with various session musicians and utilized both vintage and contemporary recording equipment. They intended to pay homage to their musical influences-classic soul artists of the 1960s and 1970s-and incorporated live instrumentation, funk, and hip-hop elements such as samples and scratches. Lead singer and bassist Raphael Wiggins handled most of the songwriting, which featured quirky, flirtatious lyrics.

Sons of Soul was originally released by Wing Records and Mercury Records on June 22, 1993, to widespread critical acclaim. The record's commercial success included a 43-week chart run on the Billboard 200 and a double platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for sales of at least two million copies. With its success, Tony! Toni! TonÉ! became one of the most popular R&B acts during the genre's commercial resurgence in the early 1990s. However, after an ill-fated tour, the band went on hiatus and pursued individual projects before reuniting in 1995.

    Live At The Moonlight Club

The Specials are an English 2 Tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry. In 1980, the song Too Much Too Young, the lead track on their The Specials AKA Live! EP, reached No. 1 in the UK, with the unemployment-themed single Ghost Town also hit No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart in 1981.

In May 1979, the day before the British general elections that saw Margaret Thatcher come to power, The Specials
played a set at the Moonlight Club in Hampstead, London. Reportedly secretly recorded by Decca Records, who had an
office next to the Moonlight Club, it made its way to the bootleggers and wasn't officially released until 1992, through
Chrysalis Records. The Specials mixed punk with Jamaican music to produce arguably the definitive soundtrack of Britain
on the cusp of the 80s. The live album contains reggae classics such as Toots & The Maytals 'Monkey Man' and The
Pioneers 'Long Shot Kick De Bucket'.

Altoist Paul Desmond and baritonist Gerry Mulligan
always made for a perfect team during their infrequent
collaborations. Both of the saxophonists had immediately
distinctive light tones, strong wits, and the ability to
improvise melodically. Here, on "Two of a Mind", the two
masterful reed players are featured in pianoless quartets
that also include Wendell Marshall, Joe Benjamin or

    METZ: II

"I look at it like this," METZ frontman Alex Edkins says. "You
start a band, just as something to do, because music's what
makes you tick, the thing you dream about and think about and
that's it. You never think that you'll be able to do it all the time.
But then, for some inexplicable reason, people actually listen
and latch on and the band begins to take on new meaning. All
of a sudden there are expectations and pressure, real or
imagined, to change who you are. It was important to us, when
making this record, not to give in to that pressure."

What happens when a seemingly irresistible force meets an
immovable object is a serviceable metaphor for the music
METZ creates, both live and on record. Now behold II, the
concussive new full-length from what is arguably North
America's finest touring rock band. Written and recorded in
2014, after two years of constant touring behind their rightly
adored self-titled debut, II is METZ at their most true to
form-as pure an expression of what they do as can currently
be committed to tape. The guitars are titanic, the drums
ill-tempered, the vocals chilling, and the volume worrisome.

From the exhilarating grind of "Spit You Out" to the blunt-force
thrills of "Landfill," herein reside 10 songs as uncompromising
in their ferocity and abrasiveness as any collection this record
label has had the pleasure of releasing to date. While the
band's debut was often "clean and clinical," II is what Edkins
describes as a "much heavier, darker, and sloppier" affair, with
many of its roughest edges and ugliest tones kept intact. Its
lyrical matter, Edkins notes, stems from a year of loss and
doubt, of contemplating our relationships with death and the
planet. "I consider myself a pretty massive pessimist, but a
pessimist who knows how lucky he is," he says. "A lot of things
    in everyday life drive me crazy: how we relate to each other;
how politics, media, technology, money and medication
influence our lives. This band, in a lot of ways, is an outlet."

What we're left with is the sound of an already monstrous band
improving in both subtle and terrifying ways.

    McCartney II

Mastered from the Original Tapes at Abbey Road by Guy Massey and Co.: Same Team Responsible for Superb Beatles Reissues

Audiophile-Grade Gatefold-Packaged 180g 2LP Set Includes Rare and Previously Unreleased Tracks, Plus Download of Entire Record

Macca's 1980 Adventurous, Synth-Dominant Studio Set His First Post-Wings Solo Effort

McCartney Personally Supervised the Reissue: McCartney Also Available on 180g 2LP

Originally released in 1980 and the first album he released after disbanding Wings, McCartney II echoed back to Paul McCartney's titanic 1970 solo debut in that the former Beatle took a singular, do-it-yourself approach to its composition and creation. Eager to expand from the pop he'd been plying with Wings, the legendary singer-songwriter obsesses over synthesizer potential throughout the record's 11 tracks, all of which opt for a more electronic feel and experimental ambience.

Reaching #1 in the UK, and #3 in the U.S., McCartney II yielded myriad enduring classics such as Coming Up, Waterfalls, and Temporary Secretary. And as he did in 1970, McCartney calls on then-wife Linda McCartney to supply background vocals but handles everything else on his own. Clearly playing with something to prove, the boundless musician employs cutting-edge synthesizers to craft memorable arrangements and soundscapes, while his inimitable vocals provide unforgettable timbres and complimentary tones.

Part of the icon's ongoing Archive Collection, McCartney II has been remastered at Abbey Road from the original master tapes by the same engineering team responsible for the internationally acclaimed Beatles reissues. We assure you that this 1980 landmark has never sounded better, and the gatefold packaging looks stunning. In addition, McCartney has unlocked the vault and supplied rare and previously unreleased tracks to add to the album's overall enjoyment and context. Not surprisingly, Macca himself oversaw the entire reissue.

Pop fans and music connoisseurs, this is what is deemed essential. Grab McCartney II and its natural bookend McCartney on audiophile vinyl and immerse yourself in the sounds of the artist who's the most successful musician and composer in history.

The new MKII Sussurro has a newly designed moving iron element to reduce moving mass by 70%; extremely low stored energy, the new MKII damping system and an innovative energy distribution path to effectively transfer mechanical energy away from the cantilever through the cartridge body into the tone arm. So what does all this mean??

Low jitter. Jitter? You probably thought that was a term reserved for digital systems. Not so. Stylus jitter is responsible for loss of detail, and making a cartridge sound, well, like a cartridge. The Sussurro stays in constant contact with the record groove. If you are not in constant contact, you can't hear what has truly been recorded.

    Fight The Good Fight (Pre-Order)

    Release Date: June 29, 2018*

The Interrupters are an L.A. based four-piece bound by their rebel spirit and deep love of punk, rock, ska and 2 Tone.

They make super high-energy rock -n-roll that's equal parts catchy and confrontational.

Their third album, Fight The Good Fight, was produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong and released on his Hellcat imprint for Epitaph Records. The album features front-woman Aimee Interrupter, guitarist Kevin Bivona, bassist Justin Bivone and drummer Jesse Bivona, spitting out lyrics that take on matters as thorny as family, friendship, martial law and loyalty, while churning out bouncing rock-steady rhythms and snarly guitar riffs.

The Interrupters have built their live act of unstoppable energy and a feeling of easy community that reflects their familial vibe.

They had toured the world with the likes of Green Day and Rancid and played huge festivals from The Vans Warped tour to Coachella.

"There is usually a dance party going on in the crowd, which we appreciate since we always have our own dance party happening on stage," says guitarist Kevin Bivona. The Interrupters will be dancing their way to a town near you this summer on many festivals and tours including The Punk in Drublic Festivals, Back to The Beach Festival and the Main Stage on Vans Warped Tour.

    Fillmore East 2-11-69

Live at the Fillmore East 2-11-69 is a double live album by the Grateful Dead recorded during the Live/Dead tour on February 11, 1969 at the Fillmore East in New York City.

Performing two hour-long sets as the opening act to Janis Joplin's New York debut as a solo star, the Grateful Dead turned in a characteristic performance for this period in their career. In between the release of their second and third albums, they devoted much time to the songs that would turn up several months later on Aoxomoxoa, including acoustic renditions of Dupree's Diamond Blues and Mountains of the Moon. Pigpen dominated the first set, singing the blues standards Good Morning Little Schoolgirl, I'm a King Bee, and Turn on Your Lovelight. But a large part of both sets was given over to the group's extended medleys, in the first set Cryptical Envelopment/The Other One, in the second Dark Star/St. Stephen/The Eleven. These involved, largely instrumental pieces set the tone for the Dead at the end of the '60s and produced their breakthrough with Live/Dead, which was recorded within weeks of this show. There is also a game version of Hey Jude, the biggest hit of the previous year, to end the first set, and an unlisted, interrupted performance of Cosmic Charlie as a second-set encore.

    Ultimate Performance

    Ultimate Refinement

    Ultimate Luxury

Every vinyl enthusiast has records in their collection, or come across LPs they'd love to own, but were just too warped for any cartridge/arm to track. The DF-2 the one-stop, one-button solution to your problems! The DF-2 provides controlled-heat perfect flattening for all your warped records, even those with only slight irregularities just enough to unsettle your cartridge and cause mistracking. Warps are bad news no matter how you look at it. If the arm/cartridge remains parallel to the LP's surface as with a flat record, VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle) remains unchanged throughout every rotation. Additionally, as the arm/cartridge tracks a warp on its upside, it places greater pressure on the stylus which changes VTF (Vertical Tracking Force) until the peak of the warp, whereupon the cartridge becomes "unloaded" with too little VTF on the way down. Of course, all this muddles the sound, changing the tonal quality, imaging and soundstage characteristics of the cartridge. A flat record also tracks better with less distortion. An LCD keeps you informed of progress with a tone sounding when done.

    IMPORTANT:

The following LPs should not be treated in the DF-2:

    1. LPs weighing less than 110g

    2. Light LPs that were manufactured between 1973-74 (Oil crisis) weights range from 100g to 115g

Midnight Features Vol. 2: Made Flesh

Instrumental psychedelic hip-hop hybrid Lilacs &
Champagne spent their first two albums shining a light
on the darkest corners of vintage European cinematic
oddities. Their eponymous debut album and the
follow-up, Danish & Blue, were warped, psychedelic
takes on damaged funk and b-movie film scores. With
their palette now thoroughly smeared, coconspirators
Emil Amos and Alex Hall are flirting with the makings of a
masterpiece in Midnight Features Vol. 2: Made Flesh.

From the mournful opening breaths of "Roses & Kisses"
    - a new career high point for the band - it's obvious they
are charting a dynamic new course that simultaneously
pays tribute to and explodes the legendary beatmakers
that came before. Midnight Features Vol. 2 skins
traditional hip-hop to its bones, then builds it back up with
the flesh of Eastern European private press psych
records, obscure film soundtracks, indistinguishable radio
broadcasts, library tapes, and who knows what else from
    who knows where else.

The most remarkable feat of Midnight Features Vol. 2 is
not the impressive array of sound sources, but how Lilacs
have managed to orchestrate so many seemingly
disparate genres into one cohesive future music. They
execute sudden changes in mood and tone with uncanny
dexterity and grace. They've clearly found their groove,
and they're just starting to dig in.

Light: On The South Side (Awaiting Repress)

    2 LPs and 132-page book!

Between 1975-1977, Chicago's South Side night clubs were a little lighter. Photographer Michael Abramson hit Perv's House, Pepper's Hideout, The High Chaparral, The Patio Lounge, and The Showcase Lounge, not to capture the artists on stage, instead popping off a half dozen rolls every night on the crowd. Light: On The South Side gathers for the first time over 100 of these images, as Numero Group shines its own strobe on yet another dark corner of the past. The 132-page hard back book features photos, an ephemera section, and an essay by Nick Hornby.

Housed in a gorgeous slipcase with the 12x12 book is Pepper's Jukebox, a seventeen track compilation of the kind of funky Chicago blues heard from the stage and the Wurlitzer. The deluxe 2LP set is packaged in a sharp gatefold jacket with two inner sleeves crammed to the gills with label scans and stories. All in all, it's the classiest Numero record ever made, spotted easily from across the room with its near 2 spine.

Light: On the South Side is undoubtedly Numeros most extravagant and audaciously packaged seta dazzling collection that should receive an automatic Grammy nomination for Best Recording Package. Housed in a slipcase box, the compilations 2-LP gatefold vinyl and 132-page hardbound 12x12 book offer the ultimate immersion into Chicagos African-American South Side nightclubs and the sounds, sights, personalities, and smells that filled them on a nightly basis. The gorgeous collection is a prerequisite for any fan of blues, R&B, and soul (and by natural extension, rock and pop)and anyone curious to glimpse a bygone era of life-after-dark celebrations staged by urbanites that lived for evenings on the dance floor, in front of the Wurlitzer, and in leather booths surrounded by the opposite sex, booze, and cigarettes. -Bob Gendron, TONE Audio, Issue 25

10 3D Printed Tonearm with stand

The arm looks like a traditional VPI Unipivot arm, except it's made in a 3D printer. The material is basically epoxy, which forms a rigid, lightweight, structure with good insulation properties. Epoxy is non-crystalline which impedes the transfer of vibration, so it's the perfect material for tone arms. The shape of the tone arm shaft also adds rigidity to the structure and further prevents the transmission of surface vibrations. The result is a low resonance lightweight tone arm.

This tonearm is backwards compatible and will fit on all past and current VPI Turntables.
