Ranked 352/500 on Rolling Stone's List of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

52nd Street on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram 45RPM 2LP from Mobile Fidelity

Mainstream Perfection: Melodic Devices, Passionate Singing, Sophisticated Arrangements, Jazzy Backdrop Walk Down 52nd Street

Commanding Sonics: Mobile Fidelity Edition Sets the New Standard in How Joel's 1978 Classic Should-and Does-Sound

Chart-Topper Certified Seven-Times Platinum: Includes "Big Shot," "Honesty," "My Life"

Some artists embrace their success by repeating the steps that originally granted them fame. Billy Joel did the opposite, refusing to be contained by prescribed approaches or constrained by a given label. The follow-up to the breakthrough The Stranger, 52nd Street further expands on its predecessor's bold production techniques and inventive arrangements, incorporating more sophisticated textures as well as reflecting a jazz edge gleaned from New York City's thriving club scene.

A key component of Mobile Fidelity's Billy Joel catalog restoration series, The Stranger is mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 45RPM 180 gram LP at RTI. The wider and deeper grooves-as well as the meticulous mastering process-yield resplendent dynamics, broad soundstages, three-dimensional perspectives, and tonal balances absent from prior editions. Indeed, Joel wouldn't sound more realistic if were playing ten rows away from you onstage. This is how you want to experience the 1978 LP that captured the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

Teaming again with producer Phil Ramone, Joel capitalizes on his momentum, churning out another direct-sounding affair replete with captivating melodic devices, showmanship accents, and penetrating lyrics. The singer's concision and focus is evident via the tune's lengths, with only "Until the Night" breaking the six-minute mark. Hit singles "Big Shot" and "My Life" rattle forth with an urgency and intensity that Joel had not previously demonstrated, the combination of passionate deliveries, snide overtones, and insistent grooves setting the table for what follows.

Broadening his palette, and drawing from New York's thriving jazz club scene and the city's late-70s grit, Joel splashes Latin and jazz colors on several pieces-even employing veterans such as Dave Grusin and Freddie Hubbard to contribute along with a cast that includes a team of background vocalists and horn players. Everything is tastefully appointed, and yet the vocalist's trademark Broadway gaze and knack for the grand gesture coincide with the straight-ahead swagger.

52nd Street is one of the main reasons why Joel has always been championed for consistency. Everything here, from the production to the stand-up songs, helped redefine mainstream pop-rock. More than three decades later, it's finally available in fidelity that rivals that of those Columbia Records' master tapes produced right on 52nd Street. Mobile Fidelity takes you there and Joel sweeps you away.

Dire Straits' Self-Titled 1978 Debut Distinguished By Jazz-Inflected Mix Of Folk, Blues, Country, And Rock: Guitarist Mark Knopfler Displays Uncanny Precision, Intricacy, And Texture

Mastered From The Original Master Tapes And Pressed At RTI For Optimal Sound: Mobile Fidelity 45RPM 2LP Set Engages With Natural Tones, Superb Balances, Reference Imaging, Sterling Clarity

Breakout Dire Straits Album Includes Sultans Of Swing And Down To The Waterline: Band's Shuffles, Boogies, And Ballads Spark With Crispness, Soulfulness, Coolness

Dire Straits' arresting self-titled debut arrived in the midst of punk's reign but couldn't have been further removed from the era's slash-and-burn style. Recorded in West London in February 1978, the band's tasteful, jazz-inflected set embraces folk, blues, and pub rock while also tracing a direct line back to the beat-oriented sound of early rock n' roll. Country and roots accents further distinguish the British quartet's stripped-down music from any 1970s peers, as does the transparent production, which has remained revered among audiophiles the world over - and which has never been better than on this meticulous analog pressing.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP version of Dire Straits features natural tonalities, superb balances, you-are-there imaging, deep-black backgrounds, and pristine clarity. Even if you've heard this album hundreds of times before, you've never experienced it with such lifelike sonics and premium richness. This numbered, limited-edition collector's set immerses you within the smoky, laidback atmospherics of every song. This is how all vinyl should sound.

Crucial to every arrangement, Mark Knopfler's winding guitar lines emerge with supreme transparency and multi-hued textural detail. His intricate playing comes across as if it's being transmitted via his 60s-era Fender Vibrolux amplifier placed right before you. The cleanliness, dimensions, and live feel are that good. His bandmates, too, benefit from the extra groove space afforded by this 45RPM edition. Rhythms skate and swirl; percussive effects resonate with crispness and attack; the leading edges of notes naturally decay.

Dire Straits' strong, well-edited batch of original material further enhances the overall enjoyment and makes the record one whose pleasures go far beyond the organic sonics. Just as Knopfler's narratives pour forth with poetic and surrealist texts, the musical settings - an intoxicating combination of easygoing shuffles, back-hall boogies, and pop-honed ballads - mirror the old-fashioned soulfulness inherent in the classic recordings of the late 50s and early 60s. The lyrics are equally captivating.

Drawing from his time as a youth in Newcastle, Leeds, and London, Knopfler invests tunes with an autobiographical slant and emotional connectivity that become obvious the moment he opens his mouth to sing. Down to the Waterline, Wild West End, and Lions all feature colloquial touches that add to their reach. By extension, In the Gallery functions as a tribute to Leeds sculptor Harry Phillips (father of future Knoplfer collaborator, Steve Phillips) while the record's breakout smash, Sultans of Swing, pays homage to struggling bar bands.

Through it all, Dire Straits performs with a subtle cool and clever poise that no band ever matched. Just how good is the chemistry? Bob Dylan heard the quartet and invited Knopfler and drummer Pick Withers to play on Slow Train Coming. But even Dylan himself didn't hear Dire Straits sound this magnetic back in its original heyday. Now, everyone can.

Blood, Sweat And Tears (Awaiting Repress)

Winner of three Grammy Awards in 1970, this absolutely mind-blowing album peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. charts, staying there for seven weeks, going double platinum by the end of 1969 and stayed on the Top 40 for 66 weeks.

Arguably, the Blood Sweat & Tears that made this self-titled second album - consisting of five of the eight original members and four newcomers, including singer David Clayton-Thomas - was really a different group from the one that made Child Is Father to the Man, which was done largely under the direction of singer/songwriter/keyboard player Al Kooper. They had certain similarities to the original: the musical mixture of classical, jazz and rock elements was still apparent, and the interplay between the horns and the keyboards was still occurring, even if those instruments were being played by different people.

    Hail To The Thief

    45 RPM

Radiohead's 2003 release Hail To The Thief borrows equally from OK Computer's epic progressive rock and Kid A's skittering electronic theatrics while using eloquent metaphors and complicated arrangements to express the uncertainty, fear and anger arising from the 2000 U.S. presidential election and a post-9/11 world. The occasional hard-grooving funk rhythm and crazed rock guitar riff keeps even the airiest sentiments well anchored though, making Hail To The Thief as well balanced as it is progressive.

45 RPM 180 Gram Vinyl Double Album

    Mastered At Abbey Road Studios

    Direct To Metal Mastering

Alternate Artwork Exclusive To This Release

The 20th anniversary of Nirvana's third and ultimately final studio album, In Utero, continues apace, with its 2013 Mix, mastered at Abbey Road Studios,
issued as a 45 RPM 180 gram vinyl double album--cut to copper plates using the direct to metal mastering process, and housed in stunning alternate
    artwork exclusive to this release.

The 2013 Mix finds original producer Steve Albini revisiting In Utero with the blessing and oversight of Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. With an approach
described as more of an alternate snapshot of the same entity than a typical remix or new mix, the 2013 Mix coaxes forth never before heard nuances-
-and including unearthed alternate performances on some tracks--and finds incredible new sonic dimensions of the unwitting swansong of the single most
    influential artist of the 1990s.

Upon its original 1993 release, In Utero was easily the most polarizing record of a generation. The most confrontational yet vulnerable material Kurt
Cobain, Novoselic and Grohl would ever record, it was also the first record Nirvana would make with any expectations from the public. The In Utero 2013
Mix double vinyl edition offers yet another perspective of the final and perhaps finest hour of Nirvana: of the most incredible yet conflicted rock 'n' roll band
of the era at the peak of its powers surmounting struggles from within and without to make the record they needed to make.

    Legendary Delta Bluesman's Columbia Lp Now A 200-gram 45 Rpm 2lp Set!

45 RPM 2LP Set Includes Bonus Track: Motherless Children

Lacquers Cut By Ryan K. Smith At Sterling Sound From The Original Master Tape

Plated And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings!

Heavyweight Glossy Tip-on Jacket By Stoughton Printing

Mississippi's Son House was already legendary for a small collection of live field recordings made by folklorist Alan Lomax in 1941 and 1942, and for having taught some important licks to both Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters before he was rediscovered by a new generation of college-age fans in 1964.

The Father of the Delta Blues recorded this namesake LP for Columbia Records a year later in 1965. It's become, in the words of Living Blues magazine - Essential recordings by one of the greatest bluesmen ever. And now, Analogue Productions presents a reissue unmatched in sonic quality and luxury presentation. For our version we turned to Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound to remaster the recording from the original master tapes. The freshly cut lacquers - for this version we've cut the album at 45 RPM for truer cartridge tracking and decreased distortion on the inner groove - were then plated and pressed on 200-gram vinyl by our own Quality Record Pressings.

Son was born Eddie James House, Jr., on March 21, 1902, in Riverton, Miss. By the age of 15, he was preaching the gospel in various Baptist churches as the family seemingly wandered from one plantation to the next. He didn't even bother picking up a guitar until he turned 25; to quote House, I didn't like no guitar when I first heard it; oh gee, I couldn't stand a guy playin' a guitar. I didn't like none of it. But if his ambivalence to the instrument was obvious, even more obvious was the simple fact that Son hated plantation labor even more and had developed a taste for corn whiskey. After drunkenly launching into a blues at a house frolic in Lyon, Miss., one night and picking up some coin for doing it, the die seemed to be cast; Son House may have been a preacher, but he was part of the blues world now.

Now, sit back and enjoy one of the genere's greatest, on a reissue that's the best that's been made to date. So authentic, so real - that's the Analogue Productions difference.

    Purple Haze

The second single by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, "Purple Haze" coupled with "51st Anniversary," as it was issued in the UK and Europe, showcases the artistry and mystique of Jimi Hendrix. It beckons us into his psychedelic world just as it did in spring 1967, when it hit the Top Five in the UK between the likes of "Somethin' Stupid" and "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" on the charts.

The two sides presented Hendrix's space-age take on blues and pop, establishing a momentum of influence that shows no sign of ever ending. This edition-the third release in a unique, ongoing series that partners Sundazed with Experience Hendrix-issues these recordings together on a 45 RPM single for the first time ever in the US, and features the original monaural mixes plus a color sleeve with rare photographs of Hendrix in the ascent of his career.

Analogue Productions presents all six of the Doors studio titles on 200g 45RPM 2LP pressed at Quality Record Pressings as well as The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun and L.A. Woman on Hybrid multi-channel SACD, all cut from the original analog masters by Doug Stax, with the exception being The Doors which was made from the best tape copy available.

Sax and the Doors producer/engineer Bruce Botnick have gone through a meticulous setup to guarantee a positively stunning reissue series. These masters were recorded on all-tube equipment, and the tape machine used for the transfer of these releases is also a tube machine, as is the cutting system.

Although most of the material for their 1967 sophomore album was written around the same time as their debut which was released earlier in the same year, the songs on the genre-bending Strange Days still manage to possess their own distinct and foreboding character. The equally as impressive follow-up yielded the touchstone hits "Love Me Two Times" and "People Are Strange" as well as the the fan favorites "Moonlight Drive," "Strange Days" and "When The Music's Over." Desire

Ranked 174/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

Multi-Platinum 1976 Record Made With Members of Celebrated Rolling Thunder Revue, as well as Emmylou Harris

Go-for-Broke Sonics: Mastered from the Original Master Tapes, Lifelike Mobile Fidelity Reissue Spotlights Live, Raw Sound of First-Take Arrangements

Effort Balances Epic Storytelling and Dylan's Heartbreak Over Failing Marriage

Includes Timeless and Tireless Songs "Sara," "Hurricane," and "One More Cup of Coffee (Valley Below)"

Bob Dylan cut Desire flanked by more than a dozen musicians, aided by a producer averse to multitracking, and bent on tequila. Reeling from the effects of his disintegrating marriage, the singer penned several of the most heartfelt songs of his career, including "Sara," the most overtly public broadcasting of his private life and emotions committed to tape. Straddling lines between haphazard and organized, loose and planned, Desire lives up its title, a masterwork that Dylan would not equal in creativity, performance, and lyricism for another two decades.

Mastered from the original master tapes on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed at RTI, this restored 45RPM analog version lays bare the catch-all ambience of the sessions as well as the unguarded emotionalism that fueled them. Largely captured at one unruly New York studio date, many songs are first-take arrangements, experienced on this reissue in a raw, realistic fashion that allows chords to swell, vocals to naturally carry, and percussion to span a seemingly bridge-wide soundstage. Accenting instruments-bouzouki, accordion, mandolin, violin, congas, piano-gain their own space and color the music with intriguing textures. The wider grooves mean more information reaches your ears.

Surging with a nothing-to-lose disposition, Desire juggles myriad styles and owns up to no single theme. Disappointment and loss related to Dylan's broken relationship surfaces directly and metaphorically, but the album isn't mired in depression or sadness. More often than not, it howls, the sprawling canvas needlepointed with complexity and diversity. In pairing with lyricist Jacques Levy, Dylan invites narrative collaboration he never again repeated, as well as an eclecticism that gives the effort its fascinating charm.

Desire finds Dylan at an evocative peak. With the tour de force single "Hurricane," he composes his first protest song in years, the enraged verses aimed squarely at maintaining the innocence of boxer Ruben Carter, falsely convicted of murder, as a violin melody swirls in the background. He finds similar inspiration in gangster Joey Gallo, turning "Joey" into a beautiful epic outfitted with Emmylou Harris' transcendent backing vocals. Flashing a sense of humor, "Mozambique" relishes an irreverent quirkiness that balances the more serious fare.

And in the nakedly biographical "Sara," Mediterranean-flavored "One More Cup of Coffee (Valley Below)," fragile "Oh, Sister," and swirling fable "Isis," Dylan develops a series of loosely related songs at once flawless, timeless, and tireless. Rarely has the folk-rock icon addressed love, romance, and loss more openly, eloquently, or universally. It's no wonder they remain amongst the very favorites of many hardcore Dylan enthusiasts, and account for a large reason why Rolling Stone ranks Desire the 174th greatest album of all-time.

On 1989's In Step, Vaughan found his own songwriting voice, blending blues, soul, and rock in unique ways, and writing with startling emotional honesty. Yes, there are a few covers, all well chosen, but the heart of the album rests in the songs he cowrote with Doyle Bramhall, the man who penned the Soul to Soul highlight "Change It." Fueled by a desire to make up for lost time and delight in his reawakened commitment to life and sobriety, Vaughan turned in what many consider his greatest artistic statement, an album ensconced in sweat, soul, determination, and not an ounce of filler.

"Travis Walk" offers a heady rush of flat-picking, "The House is Rockin'" is full-tilt roots-boogie, "Let Me Love You Baby" and "Leave My Girl Alone" are sweet blues epiphanies, and the nine-minute instrumental "Riviera Paradise" is a truly soulful mix of blues and jazz. By now, just a year before his untimely death, Vaughan had also tamed his bawling voice into a rich instrument. In short, this 1989 session is Vaughan at his artistic peak.

In Step remains one of the five greatest blues records of the past quarter century. There's not a link in this chain that wasn't absolute first-rate. The absolute best that money can buy. We're passionate about the blues AND Stevie Ray and the passion shows up here in spades.

    The Nylon Curtain

The Nylon Curtain on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram 45RPM 2LP from Mobile Fidelity

Legendary Singer-Songwriter Channels John Lennon on Musically Ambitious and Socially Poignant Baby Boomer-Themed Set

Mobile Fidelity Edition Broadens Expanse of Orchestral Arrangements, Sweep of Melodic Breadth, and Microdynamic Reach

Multi-Platinum 1982 Song Cycle Includes "Allentown," "Laura," "Pressure," "Goodnight Saigon"

Having triumphantly asserted himself as a take-no-mess singer-songwriter on 1980's hard-rocking Glass Houses, Billy Joel continues to push his creative impulses on The Nylon Curtain, a fascinating song cycle that pays tribute to John Lennon and stands as the most ambitious project of his career. Enriched by sweeping orchestral arrangements and socially conscious lyrics, the 1982 set addresses unemployment, war, and realities of the Reagan era with exacting precision. Insightful and clever, the album's Baby Boomer-themed narratives continue to resonate.

A requisite piece of Mobile Fidelity's Billy Joel catalog restoration series, The Nylon Curtain is mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI. The myriad nuances amidst Phil Ramone's crisp production assume greater tonality, texture, and detail. What was a very good-sounding album is now an audiophile-caliber favorite, with transparency, clarity, and microdynamics enhancing the poignant connection between Joel's expressiveness and the listener's emotions. The Nylon Curtain is now an even more personal experience, a brilliant distillation of sadness, loss, hope, and anger.

Harnessing concerns, obsessions, reflections, and feelings that consumed a majority of the Baby Boomer generation near the beginning of the Reagan Era, Joel delves into job loss ("Allentown"), wartime fallout ("Goodbye Saigon"), and, of course, romantic longing ("She's Right on Time"). Rather than take a long-view perspective, Joel gets up and close to the issues, infusing the fare with a mix of sadness, frustration, cautious optimism, and moodiness that he wears on his sleeve. Joel's melodies, too, ricochet with unmistakably personal sentiment, as he constructs arrangements in tribute to Lennon, whose ghost arises on pieces like "Scandinavian Skies" and "Laura."

Pop culture author Chuck Klosterman addresses the Beatles link and The Nylon Curtain's timeless appeal in Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, writing: "'Laura' and 'Where's the Orchestra' really are as good as what's on The White Album. This is because the first song says things so directly that its words shouldn't make sense to anyone else (and yet they do), while the latter is so metaphorically vague that anybody should be able to understand what he's implying."

But relate and understand audiences do: The Nylon Curtain remains a pop marvel, introspective juggernaut, and finally, courtesy of Mobile Fidelity, a sonic landmark. Joel's anguish, regrets, sorrow, and worries transcend both tastes and time. Somewhat underappreciated upon its original release, the 55-minute effort is now regarded as a conceptual masterpiece.

    The Old Magic

Of Nick Lowe, NPR once observed, Few musicians get better with age, Nick Lowe is an exception. While it's undeniable that his last album garnered Lowe the best reviews of his career and his best one-week sales in the Soundscan era, there is little doubt that he has always been at the forefront of modern music. Be it his production work with The Damned, Elvis Costello, The Pretenders or his stone-classic solo albums Jesus of Cool or Labour of Lust, Nick has always set the standard for smart, switchblade-sharp pop music.

His latest album, The Old Magic continues Lowe's late-career evolution with arguably his best collection yet. Amidst urbanely insistent grooves (Sensitive Man), and spare-yet-imposing shuffles (Checkout Time), The Old Magic features three exceptional Lowe ballads: album opener Stoplight Roses, House for Sale and I Read A Lot. As is his custom, Lowe also peppers the album with three covers by Elvis Costello, Tom T. Hall and Jeff West that fit seamlessly with his originals. The Old Magic might be the album title equivalent of calling your shot, but for Nick Lowe it seems more a simple statement of fact.

    Songs In The Attic

Songs In the Attic on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity

1981 Live Album Finds Joel Adding Warmth to Ballads, Punch and Kick to Rockers

Taking You to the Stage: Mobile Fidelity Version Pulls Gives You a Dead-Center Seat and Wonderful Sonic Perspective

Ideal Summation of Joel's Early Period Material, Enhanced by Accomplished Band in Concert Setting

Great live albums often function as documents of a performer's stinting onstage abilities, stopgaps between studio albums, introductions to a musician's earlier work, and/or opportunities for familiar material to be showcased in superior ways. Songs In the Attic serves all of these purposes and more. As Billy Joel's first live album, it's still his best, punctuated by dynamic renditions of favorites and deep cuts, and augmented by a tested band in sync with the pianist.

A vital component of Mobile Fidelity's Billy Joel catalog restoration series, Songs In the Attic is mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI. The resulting presentation effortlessly outshines that heard on all previous editions of this 1981 set. Joel's piano possesses fuller body and lifelike resonance. His veteran group's contributions emerge with newfound clarity, dynamics, decay, and extension. Balances are supreme, and shades and colors blend, amplifying richness and presence.

On the heels of three multi-platinum albums and a commercial breakthrough, Joel released Songs In the Attic to both tide fans over until 1982's The Nylon Curtain as well to feature material in a looser, warmer setting. The record highlights not only the singer's consistency and knack for indelible melodies, but savvy live techniques. Upbeat tunes such as "Everybody Loves You Now" receive a more fleshed-out treatment that yields added punch and swagger, while balladic numbers like "I've Loved These Days" take on a cozy warmth akin to the feeling of putting on a sweater on a cool fall day.

Songs In the Attic also bridged the gap for listeners for whom Joel was then a new entity, as many didn't come to his music until The Stranger. Hence, tracks like "Captain Jack" and "The Ballad of Billy the Kid," from Piano Man, get a fresh identity, particularly courtesy of a backing band that, by then, had been gigging with Joel for years. No wonder that, unlike a majority of live records, Songs In the Attic yielded two Top 40 pop hits: "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" and "She's Got a Way." No matter from what angle it's viewed, the set stands as one of the most important and enjoyable live records ever released.

"The new remastering sounds amazing. Better than it ever did. I'm happy and pleasantly surprised."

-Chris "Whipper" Layton, Double Trouble drummer

    "This is visceral, hair-raising stuff."

-Andy Aledort, senior editor of Guitar World

"These recordings have never sounded this good, and likely will never sound better. Layers seem to have been stripped away, and the music seems to have been set free. Vaughan's guitar has new bite and edge...sonically, all questions have now been answered..."

    -Robert Baird, Stereophile

The Sky Is Crying was released after SRV's 1990 helicopter crash that took his life. The posthumously assembled 10-track outtakes collection actually proves to be one of Vaughan's most consistent albums, rivaling In Step as the best outside of the Greatest Hits collection. These songs were recorded in sessions spanning from 1984's Couldn't Stand the Weather to 1989's In Step and were left off of the LPs for whatever reason (or, in the case of Soul to Soul's "Empty Arms," a different version was used).

What makes the record work is its eclectic diversity - Vaughan plays slide guitar on "Boot Hill" and acoustic on "Life By The Drop"; he smokes on the slow blues of "May I Have a Talk With You" and the title track just as much as on the up-tempo Lonnie Mack cover, "Wham"; and he shows the jazzy side of his playing on Hendrix's "Little Wing" and Kenny Burrell's "Chitlins Con Carne."

    All Or Nothing At All

Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound

...the third (Billie Holiday album) to receive the two-disc 45 RPM treatment by Analogue Productions. ... Billie sounds like she's at the microphone in your living room. The instruments are spread out between the speakers and there is plenty of depth. A pristine original has a bit more pronounced vocal sibilance and air, and this reissue smooths that out a bit. That aside, this is a fabulous reissue of essential music. Highest recommendation. - Recording = 9.5/10; Music = 10/10 - Dennis D. Davis, Hi-Fi +, Issue 95

...these are all truly classic Verve titles that you simply don't want to miss...most importantly, the sound of these reissues is nothing short of astounding. Particularly the early Billie and Ella mono records are incredible treasures of sonic beauty. I'd definitely ask Santa for the whole set, or, if you want to cherry pick, the most classic titles. Whatever you decide, you owe yourself at least a half dozen! Winner of a 2012 Positive Feedback Online Writers' Choice Award - Danny Kaey, Positive Feedback Online, November/December 2011

After the publication of her autobiography, Lady Sings The Blues, Billie Holiday was doing good business in clubs in what turned out to be a last burst of stardom. We cannot know why she stopped recording for Norman Granz after January 1957 - but the present collection is a magnificent culmination of her years with the producer.

1971's Pearl Showcases Janis Joplin at Her Peak: Chart-Topping Record Includes Hits Me and Bobby McGee, Mercedes Benz, and Get It While You Can

Mastered From the Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity 45RPM Pressing is Definitive-Sounding Analog Version of Masterpiece Ranked #135 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

Joplin Displays Balance of Impeccable Timing, Devastating Vulnerability, and Raw Emotion: Full Tilt Boogie Band, Producer Paul Rothchild Complete Album Steeped in Soul and Loaded With Spirit

Janis Joplin wouldn't be denied on Pearl. The powerhouse vocalist had kicked her addictions, teamed with a stupendous band, and partnered with a producer that knew how to best showcase her voice on record. She came to the sessions with an armload of astonishing songs, and a burst of creative energy that mirrored her rejuvenated emotional state and undeniable spirit. You can hear it on every note of the 1971 record. Ranked #135 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, Pearl sold more than four million copies and stands as the first female rock superstar's definitive studio work. Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP presents the lasting artwork like never before.

Mastered from the original master tapes, cut at 45RPM, and pressed on dead-quiet vinyl at RTI, the iconic audiophile label's analog reissue takes Joplin and Co.'s stupendous performances to newly transcendent levels. Boasting a fidelity that further magnifies the singer's passion and producer Paul A. Rothchild's clear production, this pressing benefits from increased spaciousness, dynamics, and openness afforded by the wider grooves. Joplin's husky, strong, and penetrating singing has never sounded so vibrant or made deeper connections. Warm, organic, and free of any artificial ceilings, this version lets you step into Sunset Sound Recorders with the performers, such is the degree of realism and authenticity. Indeed, few, if any words, describe Joplin better than authentic, and her spirit comes to life on this 2LP set in positively transcendent fashion. Like its headliner, this pressing leaves it all on the floor.

While Joplin's electrifying vocal prowess is universally lauded - she's recognized as the greatest white female blues singer the world has ever seen - her mix of compassion, confidence, and charm play as large a role in attracting listeners and keeping them ensnared more than four decades after her tragic death. And on Pearl, she burrows into deeper stylistic veins, teasing out sides of her persona and craft she'd never previously displayed. Her signature desperation, sadness, and vulnerability remain - the harrowing, lonely wail that begins her soul-ravishing take on Jerry Ragovoy's Cry Baby, underlined with a Wall of Sound-like piano accompaniment, could only come from a person severely scarred by loss and disappointment - yet Joplin also reveals a sense of humor and beatnik innocence that helped propel the album to the top of the charts for nine straight weeks.

Playfully introduced as a song of great social and political import, the acapella Mercedes Benz reflects Joplin's throaty timbre as well as her enhanced, sunnier mood. Similarly, her definitive read of Kris Kristofferson's Me and Bobby McGee signals a laidback demeanor and a move into country strains, with the delivery as natural, carefree, and loving as any in the rock canon. As she does throughout the record, Joplin invests her all in the narrative so that there's no line between the performer and the song. She makes everything on Pearl feel autobiographical, and by extension, gut-wrenchingly honest, and devastatingly intimate. Joplin achieved these feats often during her brief career, yet there are differences on Pearl, chiefly among them her balance of impeccable timing and raw emotion. Heart-aching anthems such as A Woman Left Lonely offer both grit and control, subtlety and attack, resulting in cathartic releases distinguished with originality, personality, and instinctual passion.

Pearl remains Joplin's finest hour, with credit also owed to the Full Tilt Boogie Band - the only group she ever considered to be her own - as well as the Doors alum that sat behind the boards. Joplin and Rothchild both admitted to sharing a common bond and understanding, with the latter inheriting the role of teacher and Joplin, a willing student ready to discover how she could use her voice in new, more expressive ways. The fruits of the pair's labors fill Pearl, be it the guardedly optimistic Get It While You Can or assertive, fleet-footed Move Over.

Experienced in the new light brought to fore by this definitive Mobile Fidelity analog edition, Joplin's swan song is no longer about a masterpiece that its creator never lived to see finished. Rather, it's about a once-in-a-lifetime vocalist realizing mammoth potential and wringing passion out of every note. It's not a tragedy, but a triumph. Get it while you can.

The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan Marks the Beginning of a Cultural Sea Change: 1963 Set Transformed Songwriting, Folk, and Pop

Wider Grooves for The Ultimate Sonic Quality: Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies, Mobile Fidelity's Mono 45RPM Vinyl Pressing Teems With Directness and Sound Dylan Originally Intended

Records Ambitious Poetry, Melodies, and Moral Conviction Transformed Songwriting, Folk, and Pop

Includes Masters of War, Blowin' in the Wind, and A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall

Originally experienced by everyone in direct, attention-getting mono sound, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan is the album the ignited sea changes in pop culture, music, songwriting, poetry, and the social consciousness. It's the creation of a 22-year-old visionary still years away from casting a jaundiced eye to the media. It's the sound of change, the feeling of ground shifting beneath one's feet, and the entrance of an entirely new way of thinking. It's the effective beginning of what's arguably the boldest career in music history, the yawning vortex into the complex mind, supernatural wordplay, and folk techniques of a vocalist/guitarist whose name is forever associated with transformation.

Mobile Fidelity is humbled to have the privilege of mastering the iconic LP from the original master tapes, presenting it in its original take-notice mono sound, and pressing it on 45RPM LPs at RTI. Strictly limited to 3,000 copies, the end result is the finest, most transparent mono analog edition of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan ever produced. Never before has the resonance of his nylon guitar strings, fingerpicked notes, shivering harmonica fills, or plainspoken timbre possessed such directness, clarity, openness, body, or realism.

As the preferred mix at the time of the recording, the mono version presents Dylan as he and his producers originally intended. More intimate, focused, and direct than its stereo counterpart, the mono edition places Dylan's vocals in the heart of the musical action and as one with the accompaniment. It paints listeners an incredibly accurate portrait of the attention-getting, concrete mass of sound that features no artificial panning and straight-ahead immersion into the music. With the advantage of wider and deeper grooves, the 45RPM pressing affords the opportunity to detect more information and lavish in extra richness. Whether it's the exaggerated nasal accents employed on Down the Highway or the decay of each strummed line on the entirely acoustic album, previously concealed details, microdynamics, and ambient cues surface - enhancing the listeners' experience and taking them inside Columbia's Studio A.

Exponentially surpassing the potential he demonstrated on his debut, Dylan became a mirror of the concerns, issues, and feelings confronting the nation. Writing and singing with penetrating honesty, observational wit, moral conviction, and scathing emotion, he digs into the madness of war (Masters of War, A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall), hypocrisy of segregation (Oxford Town), urgency of civil rights and freedom (Blowin' in the Wind), and multiple angles of unrequited love (Girl From the North Country, Don't Think Twice It's All Right) with a literate astuteness and depth that, nearly 50 years later, still leave audiences slack-jawed. Satire, absurdist humor, and traditional blues also pepper the album, which rests upon graceful melodies and sparse, poignant patterns.

Viewed as protest songs, love songs, folk songs, or talking blues songs, the material on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan remains amongst the most astonishing and imaginative ever committed to tape.
