Greatest Hits Vol. 1Import
Journey, the American Hard Rock band that was formed in 1973 and became a sensation in the early '80s, didn't fully break through until their 1982 hit 'Don't Stop Believin'.
This Classic Rock anthem has been used in many a soundtrack, from Southpark and My Name Is Earl to Bedtime Stories, and most recently with great success as the theme tune for Glee. During their time together - both before and after their sabbatical - Journey has been prolific in their recording.
So much so that one Greatest Hits compilation wasn't enough; Music On Vinyl is now releasing two Greatest Hits albums with 33 of Journey's best songs!
Both volumes will be released on 180 grams audiophile vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

Heartbeat City (Awaiting Repress)Four-Times-Platinum Heartbeat City Survives as the Cars' Final Great Album Before Break-Up
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity LP Presents the 1984 Mutt Lange-Produced Heartbeat City In Extraordinary Sound
Loaded With Recognizable Hits: "Drive," "You Might Think," "Magic," "Hello Again," and "Why Can't I Have You" All Top 40 Singles
1984 will always be remembered for the debut of the Macintosh computer, the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and the ascent of MTV as the most powerful cultural medium of the era. The year is also recognized for the Cars' savvy contributions not only to the burgeoning music-video channel but to pop itself. Released in April, the four-times platinum Heartbeat City ultimately spawned five Top 40 singles-four of them landing in the Top 20, two in the Top 10-and serve as the final memorable record from the Boston group, which disbanded in 1987.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's numbered limited edition 180g LP of Heartbeat City revisits the landmark album via a rich fidelity unmatched by any prior edition. Signifying the first time the set has been available on vinyl in nearly three decades, this reissue opens up the soundstages, decongests the low frequencies, and shines a spotlight on Mutt Lange's pinpoint balances and glossy hooks. Indeed, the now-household-name producer would make a lasting mark with Heartbeat City, whose radio-friendly sound, multi-layered textures, and smooth, suave, synth-heavy pulses set a precedent for the period's hit-making pop.
Overflowing with a surfeit of finger-snapping beats, electro-pop effects, streamlined guitar notes, and bright melodies, Heartbeat City trades in efficiency, catchiness, and to-the-point craftiness. Unlike most mid-80s records, the electronic effects and sleek tonalities aren't dated due to both the focused production and irresistible songwriting. Leader Ric Ocasek penned all ten tunes, and while a mind-boggling five charted in the Top 40, what makes Heartbeat City such a staple is the fact that it's easy to imagine every song on it crashing the Billboard Hot 100. Call it the new-wave version of Thriller.
Indeed, the record's track list automatically triggers a mental jukebox. The spare simplicity and hopefulness of "Magic." The simultaneously sad longing and soothing somberness of the Benjamin Orr-sung "Drive." The shimmer and shuffling riff of "You Might Think." The ping-pong bounce and futuristic paranoia of "Hello Again." The atmospheric, arty title track. Heartbeat City is a veritable lesson in pop tunesmithship.

You're A Very Lovely WomanAmong folk-rock devotees and power-pop cultists, Emitt Rhodes is a legendary figure with a powerful mystique. The prodigiously talented singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist first came to prominence as the teenaged leader of The Merry-Go-Round, a unique L.A. baroque folk-rock quartet whose lone 1967 album is now regarded as being in the same class as the debut discs of such 60s contemporaries as the Byrds, Love, the Left Banke and the Buffalo Springfield.
The Merry-Go-Roundwhich also included guitarist Gary Kato, ex-Leaves bassist Bill Rinehart and former Grass Roots drummer Joel Larsonscored an early hit with the infectiously jangly Live. The song (which would be covered in the 80s by the Bangles) became a major regional hit in the Los Angeles area. Lives equally distinctive B-side, Time Will Show the Wiser, was covered the following year by Fairport Convention. The bands second single, the bittersweet, orchestrated Youre a Very Lovely Woman, was an equally impressive achievement.
Those three songs are all featured on Youre a Very Lovely Woman, which offers a consistently intoxicating mix of Beatlesque vocal harmonies, ringing folk-rock guitars, sparkling songcraft and playful baroque and psychedelic touches.
Although The Merry-Go-Round would disband two years after releasing their only LP, the album has gained steadily in notoriety and prestige over the years. Original copies of the album have become rare collectors items, regularly changing hands for exorbitant prices among fans.
Now, Youre a Very Lovely Woman is once again available on vinyl to thrill longtime admirers and new fans alike. Mastered from the original analog tapes and pressed on high-quality high-definition vinyl, the album includes complete, meticulously reproduced original cover art.1. Live

Toto are responsible for the best sounding albums in 80s rock. With top of the range studio facilities and musicians at hand, founders David Paich, Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather and the Porcaro brothers know how to craft a song or two. Their fourth album, released in 1982, was aptly titled IV and contains world hits "Rosanna" and "Africa". Noteworthy contestants for 'best songs' on this legendary album are "Make Believe" and "I Won't Hold You Back", both of which have proven chart success. The band was unarguably at its peak. After recording IV, Toto's members returned to the studio in order to help write and record Michael Jackson's Thriller.1. Rosanna

Coyote UglyThe latest Jerry Bruckheimer production focuses on five twenty-something women working their way through life at a fashionable bar in New York City. Four new LeAnn Rimes tracks highlight this collection. Though all from the pen of veteran songwriter Diane Warren, the tracks vary in style from diva pop (Fight the Moonlight) to sentimental musings (Please Remember). It's only a matter of time before Rimes leaves country music completely behind for the sleek modern world of mainstream pop. The remaining songs are a hodgepodge of different eras. EMF's Unbelievable and Snap's The Power hark back to the early 1990s, while Don Henley and INXS deliver the dancebeat kick of the '80s. The firing fiddle of the Charlie Daniels Band's 1979 hit The Devil Went Down to Georgia seems out of context here. But then, this bar must have one odd jukebox to begin with. --Rob O'Connor1. Breakfast At Tiffany's (Speakers Corner)
Long nights, dizzy parties, a variety of men-friends, and breakfast standing before the window display of the famed jewellery company govern the life of the dazzling Holly Golightly, who has in reality a very ordinary name and poverty-stricken background. All the more rich is the musical carpet that Henry Mancini lays beneath the feet of the exotic, wealthy-husband-seeking socialite. The tender, plaintive worldwide hit Moon River apart, Mancini and his Hollywood musicians mix a sugar-sweet sound with enough acrid elements to glaze over the capricious lady's character. The cool big band sound is spiced with a bold trumpet solo (The Big Blow Out) and mellow violins with a suspiciously tame male choir (Breakfast At Tiffany's). As is well known, there is a great deal of dancing in the film, including a number with a Latin-American rhythm (Latin Golightly), and a grooving mambo (Loose Caboose). At the end of the film even the Moon River swells to become a bubbling cha-cha, as though to say that a 'happy end' must in no way sound sentimental.
A further Mancini mix -The Pink Panther soundtrack (RCA LSP 2795) - is also available from Speakers Corner.
- Henry Mancini (arranger, conductor, p) & orchestra
Production: Dick Pierce
About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. Moon River

Stray Cats is the first album from Rockabilly band Stray Cats, first released in the UK by Arista in 1981. It was successful in Britain, peaking at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart, and produced the UK Top 40 hits Runaway Boys (No. 9), Stray Cat Strut (No. 11) and Rock This Town (No. 9). The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later listed Rock This Town as one of the songs that shaped rock and roll.
Stray Cats debut album came hot on the heels of the two hit singles Runaway Boys and Rock This Town, both energy filled rockabilly songs that hearkened back to the 1950s era of pure rock & roll with an updated, clean '80s sound highlighted by the prominent double bass playing of Lee Rocker and drumming of Slim Jim Phantom.

White Is Relic / Irrealis Mood
Two important events occurred during the making of White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood. I became Simulated Reality paranoid and I fell in LOVE. Well a lot more happened during the process of writing and recording, but those are the two big ones. I also reached a healthy point of self-forgiveness for my failed marriage and became deeply educated in the lies of America the Great. Musically, I was very inspired by the extended dance mixes that people used to make for pop singles back in the '80s. It's so cool how a lot of the 80's hits had these really intricate and interesting longer versions that wouldn't get played on the radio and could only be heard in the clubs. I used that template with these tracks, I wanted them all to feel like the extended club edit of album tracks. I'm always searching for new identities so this concept of the death of Whiteness appeals to me greatly. Might be the only way to save the world. -Kevin Barnes, January 20181. Predator: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackPressed On Blood Red And "Predator Dreads" Blue Splatter Vinyl
Limited To 1000 Copies
Sound Taken From Intrada's 2012 Complete And Definitive Edition Of The Score
Alan Silvestri's masterful score to Predator has been one of the most sought-after action film soundtracks of all time, sparking no less than three limited-edition CD releases that all successively sold out in short order. And it's little wonder; fresh from back-to-back triumphs with Romancing the Stone and Back to the Future, Silvestri employs a full orchestra, occasional, deft electronic touches, and - most of all - bruising percussion to fashion a score every bit as muscular and hard-hitting as the film itself. Among the truly inspired touches are the eerie, descending strings as the Predator descends to earth, the propulsive military march that introduces the commando team, and the simple trumpet fanfare in He's My Friend that laments the loss of a fallen comrade. Yet, because the film came out in the late-80s during the premature death of vinyl, Predator has NEVER been released on LP till now.
Real Gone is proud to present Alan Silvestri's score to Predator in a double-LP set featuring newly commissioned, custom front cover art by Rafa Wechterowicz that captures the Predator in all its ugly mother******ness, with additional stills from the production decorating the gatefold package. The sound to our release is taken from Intrada's 2012 complete and definitive edition of the score, and it comes on blood red and "Predator Dreads" blue splatter vinyl limited to 1000 copies. I Want Your Love, Chic truly were at the top of their game around the world.
With all of these hits accumulated in a very short time, Chic roared back

the era with the #1 Good Times. It's familiar and stunning guitar riff and its
powerful bass and drum attack would prove even more rewarding a few
years later, as Good Times would go on to be sampled and develop another
shelf life all its own thanks to the '80s rap movement.
Further hit tracks blew wide open as My Forbidden Lover and My

Goodbye Cruel World
Elvis Costello Goodbye Cruel World on Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP from Mobile Fidelity

Costello and the Attractions Survive Dreadful 80s With Songs Concerning Loss, Identity, and Matters of the Heart
Part of Mobile Fidelity's Elvis Costello Reissue Series: Singer-Songwriter's First Eleven Studio Albums Available on Sumptuously Sounding 180g LP
Elvis Costello wasn't in a happy place when he began writing Goodbye Cruel World. His marriage collapsed between the record's start and finish. He was also dealing with what he deems the dreadful 80s-a period in which the importance of videos trumped musical merit, the government in his native England engaged in controversial conflicts, and nuclear threats hovered over daily life like a black cloud. What possible good came out of the age? A smart batch of songs that stands up to many of the singer-songwriter's better-known works and an underrated record that now sounds better than ever.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g LP at RTI, this collectable edition of Goodbye Cruel World joins Mobile Fidelity's acclaimed Costello reissues series in presenting the icon's most vital records in rich, dynamic, three-dimensional analog sound. Akin to many albums from the era, Goodbye Cruel World was hampered by bright, slick textures on the original pressings and digital counterparts. Here, Costello's fare is revealed to possess a warmer, more organic and intimate character. Costello's voice, as well as his band's nimble rhythms and Steve Nieve's R&B-spiked piano, occupy their own spaces amidst a wide, unconstrained soundstage.
The improvements rendered by this numbered, limited-edition LP bring significantly new perspective to Costello's mordantly witty songs addressing everything from stark romantic loss to erotic desire. Produced by the hit-making team of Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley, Goodbye Cruel World reflects the polish of the day in places but now reveals a deeper soulfulness, grit, and honesty. Such aspects particularly come to fore on multiple tunes featuring saxophonists Gary Barnacle, trombonist Jim Paterson, and percussionist Luis Jardim-the very first guests ever welcomed on an Attractions album.
With added instrumental assistance, Costello and Co. traverse styles ranging from rambunctious new-wave rock (The Deportees Club) to frisky New Orleans-derived blues (Sour Milk Cow Blues) to suave, jazzy pop (The Only Flame In Town). In the closing Peace In Our Time, a sobering albeit optimistic song whose verses still apply to contemporary times, Costello crafts the finale to a socio-politically conscious trilogy that began with Shipbuilding and Pills and Soap. It alone is the worth the price of admission to a record that's long deserved a better reputation and, with Mobile Fidelity's reissue, finally gets its just desserts.

Pat Thomas & Kwashibu Area Band (Awaiting Repress)Strut are proud to announce the brand new studio album by one of Ghana's all-time great vocalists, "The Golden Voice Of Africa", Pat Thomas, in conjunction with the Kwashibu Area Band led by multi-instrumentalist Kwame Yeboah (Cat Stevens, Patrice) and saxophonist Ben Abarbanel-Wolff (Ebo Taylor, Poets of Rhythm). Hailing from Kumasi, Thomas had lived with highlife legend King Onyina from a young age before working with Ebo Taylor in two of Ghana's great 1960s highlife big bands, Broadway Dance Band and Stargazers. They would collaborate regularly, Pat contributing vocals to Ebo's solo albums and Ebo arranging horns for Pat's songs. Both would become a mainstay of the '70s and '80s Ghanaian highlife, afrobeat and afro-pop scenes, hitting big with the Ghana Cocoa Board-sponsored Sweet Beans band. Fela Kuti's bandleader, drummer Tony Allen, would record a session with Sweet Beans in Kumasi in 1975 (as yet unreleased). "Highlife was our music," Pat remembers. "People like Ebo and I modernised it, made it more relevant to our day. We took the Kwa music of Kumasi and other local styles and added Western elements." With his distinctive flowing vocal style, sung in Fanti and Ashanti Twi dialect, Pat became established as one of Ghana's biggest musical draws.1. Mewo Akoma

Sure The Doldrums and Worn Copy had some hits and humdingers on them, but Ariel Pink's 2002 album House Arrest never lets up. Its hit after hit after hit. Sorta like if you listened to your friends boom box mix tape from Top 40 radio around 1985.
Think you've heard enough Ariel Pink? Well our favorite omnivorous media junkie from LA still has a few tricks left up his sleevelike the left-of-center House Arrest. Sure The Doldrums and Worn Copy had some hits and humdingers on them, but House Arrest never lets up. It's hit after hit after hit. Sorta like if you listened to your friend's boom box mix tape from Top 40 radio around 1985. Some people might think that sounds like a recipe for disaster. We say bring on the Doritos.
Originally released in 2002 as part of a split double-CD set, then re-released with a couple of bonus tracks (including the multipart epic Netherlands) in 2006, House Arrest, much like every other Ariel Pink release so far, provides a small sampling of Ariel Rosenberg's self-recorded compositions, laid down on a trusty eight-track at home. Unlike so many warbling troubadours who seem to think the recorded-in-a-bedroom approach means a license to be maudlin, Rosenberg brings an exuberant joy to his work, finding something that a full band recording might actually kill the spirit of. The queasy tones and gently distanced verses of the opening Hardcore Pops Are Fun is instant put-a-smile-on-your-face stuff, helping to set the tone for the whole collection. The demented synth pop merriment of Flying Circles suggests an '80s nugget swathed in psychedelic haze, a gentle breeziness apparent on many other songs like the giddy Every Night I Die at Miyagis or the nervous funk of Alisa, easily one of the best songs on the album thanks to some exquisite vocals in particular. Though his connection to personal hero R. Stevie Moore is often mentioned, Rosenberg's role model here often seems to be Andy Partridge instead -- check out the distinctly XTC-like hiccupping on Gettin' High in the Morning, not to mention the quick herky-jerk arrangements. Rosenberg's preference to add layers of echo on his voice means sometimes his lyrics only emerge in fits and starts, but when they do they often are wryly witty or amusingly theatrical -- it fits with the amusing rock pose on the back cover, a knowing embrace of a trope. So when he sings about how West Coast calamities are worth more than the East Coast variety or how he's one of those egomaniacs who just want to siiiing, who's to deny how he plays around with the ideas?
