Mer De Noms2008 Limited-Edition Capitol Records 180g Vinyl Series Dont Miss These Titles!
The introduction of A Perfect Circle on Mer de Noms (Sea of Names in French) was that of a side project of Tool. Over the development of the project and certainly leading into the present, the strength of the A Perfect Circle brand has shifted the balance from a so called side project to a band in their own right. The powerful combination of Maynard James Keenan's aching voice and Billy Howerdel's accomplished songs and production skills has helped A Perfect Circle become one of the premier lifestyle bands and a major success in the rock and alternative rock formats.1. If I'm The Devil...letlive.'s new album, If I'm the Devil is a strident, principled and heavy work. It's also perfectly suited for someone who just wants to pound on the steering wheel after a hard day at school, work, or whatever institution happens to command most of your waking life. Just consider the name "letlive." - it's meant to be life-affirming above all else.
Frontman Jason Aalon Bulter has an ambitious nature which takes him to extremely lofty places. He acknowledges that letlive. is a punk band and one that reflects humanity
as a collection of emotional, frontal-lobe beings. At the same time, he fully believes that letlive. can access that utopian, inexplicable transcendental quality that allows art
to reach budding revolutionaries the way books and other oratory cannot.
letlive. continually refuse to be constrainedby the ideas of "scene" - whether letlive. is punk, metalcore, indie, rap, whatever, Butler finds these labels to be another form of systematic oppression. He grew up with Black Flag and Circle Jerks as well as 2Pacalypse and Xzibit's At the Speed of Life - it's all revolutionary counterculture music to him.
"Punk is more an ideology than a scene dictated by what pants you wear. What are you saying, what do you believe in? That's to me a better identifier." If their new album, If I'm the Devil needs a genre, Butler would call it "revolutionary counterculture music" , like a more emotional Rage Against the Machine, or Public Enemy with more inclusive politics. Butler grew up as a skater disillusioned with what he saw as a heteronormative, patriarchal punk rock scene until the older kids showed him black artists such as Bad Brains, Living Colour and Fishbone. "Punk rock is inclusive if you want to be included," Butler states, recognizing how letlive. can speak for people who feel they lack representation.1. I've Learned To Love Myself

Sweet Summer Sun-Hyde Park LiveThis summer, over 100,000 delirious fans packed into Hyde Park for two spectacular outdoor concerts to see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood do what they do best. The Stones delivered a five star performance packed full of hits such as 'Start Me Up', 'Brown Sugar', 'Jumpin' Jack Flash', 'Miss You', 'It's Only Rock 'N' Roll', 'Gimme Shelter', 'Doom And Gloom' and 'Sympathy For The Devil', as well as one or two surprises.
Mick Jagger said: "It was a great gig It was beautiful with the sun going down over Hyde Park. I can't think of a better way celebrate the Rolling Stones' 50 than doing it on our home patch in front of 100,000 people on a glorious summer night enjoy it we certainly did."
Keith Richards commented: "Coming back to Hyde Park was like a full circle being drawn, and the band were in top form. We thought what could be more appropriate than having a great summer in London!"
From the second the Rolling Stones stepped out onto the stage each night, through to the dazzling firework and pyrotechnic display that heralded the end of the concert, fans old and new were treated to a non-stop, hit after hit performance, which took them through the Stones' huge back catalogue. Keith Richards wowed the crowds by weaving his charismatic guitar licks with Ronnie Wood's immense solos, Mick Jagger was on spectacular form, his boundless energy on stage matched by a number of stunning outfit changes, and Charlie Watts the unflappable heartbeat of the band, driving the band on through the set.
Former guitarist Mick Taylor - whose live debut with the Stones took place at the original 1969 Hyde Park concert - joined the band on stage to guest on the bluesy 'Midnight Rambler' and on closing track 'Satisfaction', whilst long-term live band members Lisa Fischer, Darryl Jones, Chuck Leavell, Bernard Fowler, Bobby Keys and Tim Ries all added their inimitable flair and finesse.
The Rolling Stones Sweet Summer Sun - Hyde Park Live is the perfect way for concert-goers to relive their favourite memories from the gigs, and for their fans to see the band back where they truly belong: live on the stage in their hometown.LP 1

- ROLLING STONE
On his 2011 debut Will The Guns Come Out, Hanni El Khatib tried
something he'd never tried before-making a bedroom-style
recording of his then stripped-to-the-skeleton guitar-and-drums
rock 'n' roll mostly for the sheer joy of making it. For his ferocious
2013 follow-up Head In The Dirt, he tried something new again,
showing up at producer Dan Auerbach's analog-dreamland
Nashville studio with nothing but the clothes on his back and an
But after Head In The Dirt's release and almost a year of relentless
touring, Hanni knew he needed to go past 'unpredictable' all the
way to 'unprecedented.' He needed isolation, time and the chance
to experiment. So after 30 days locked in hand-picked L.A. studio
The Lair, the result is the album Moonlight-the rarest and most
welcome kind of album, made at that perfect point in life where
confidence, experience, and technique unite to help an artist do
anything they want.
That's why it starts with a song that sounds like a Mobb Deep beat
under a Suicide-style synth drone and ends with an
ESG-meets-LCD Soundsystem gone italo-disco song about life and
death. That's why it collides crushing crate-digger drumbeats
that'd be right at home on a Can LP or an Eddie Bo 45 with
bleeding distorto guitar, bent and broken barroom piano and
hallucinatory analog flourishes. (In fact, some smart producer is
going to sample the drums from this album and complete the circle
of life.) And that's also why Moonlight feels like the album he's
always wanted to make: "What would it sound like if RZA got in the
studio with Iggy Pop and Tom Waits?" he asks. "I don't know! That
was my approach on everything."
It's a personal album in the most primal sense, put together in any
way that worked. Iggy Pop and David Bowie did this kind of thing
on The Idiot, the Wu-Tang Clan did it on 36 Chambers and the
Clash did it three times over on Sandinista. And now it's Hanni's
turn, across 11 new lightning-struck songs, each written and
recorded in its own flash of inspiration. It sounds like an album
made by an endless list of collaborators, but really Moonlight was
more like the first do-it-almost-all-yourself music Hanni ever made,
except after six years recording and touring, he'd learned to do so
much more.1. Moonlight

Second WinterIn 1969, with several albums already under his belt in a short time like The Progressive Blues Experiment, Johnny Winter headed down south to Nashville and recorded what many believe to be one of his finest albums to date, Second Winter. The album features the original line up of Johnny Winter (vocals/guitars) Edgar Winter (keys and saxophone), Tommy Shannon (bass) and Uncle John Turner (drums). This power quartet laid down some of the finest rock and roll and blues performances ever caught in a studio setting, as well as forever etching the name superstar to Johnny Winters career.
Always an avid audiophile and record collector himself, during the original recording sessions, Johnny believed that all the tracks would sound better if spread out over an extra side, instead of the traditional two sided LP, therefore creating the infamous and probably first three sided rock album in history! He summed it up perfectly We also really liked everything wed done and didnt want to leave any of the songs out. We couldnt honesty give you more, and we didnt want to give you less, so here is exactly what we did in Nashville, no more and no less.
Its no secret that Friday Music has been championing this acclaimed world class artist for years now with his own authorized and top blues charting Live Bootleg Series projects, as well as classic vinyl re-releases from the Columbia and Capitol Records vaults. It is now with great pleasure they announe the continuing Johnny Winter 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with his phenomenal earth shaking Second Winter album. Mastered from the original Columbia Records tapes by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray at RTI, this incredible limited edition album comes full circle now in its first time audiophile vinyl domain release.
All his greatest hits are here like Johnny B. Goode, Miss Ann, Fast Life Rider and of course his classic interpretation of Bob Dylans scorching Highway 61 Revisited. A visionary always with each and every one of his releases, Johnny Winter put his all into this album which showed an appreciation to his rock and roll heroes like Chuck Berry and Little Richard, his contemporaries like Bob Dylan, while also being a cultural icon in the psychedelic era solely with his Texan slide and unparalleled blues playing, an unforgettable rock voice, and a fan base that just keeps growing every day.
Fellow legend and brother Edgar Winter and the rest of the band truly excel throughout this entire album as well, on tunes sweltering blues workouts like Memory Pain, I Hate Everybody and the incredible jam Hustled Down In Texas.
Friday Music has also included the long out of print original gatefold album cover designed by Tony Lane, as well as the fine photography of Richard Avedon.LP1

TurbinesBands as emotive and enduring as Tunng don't come around too often. Across their decade together, the group have honed their pastoral pop to perfection, winning over audiences and critics one rustic twang of guitar, icy electronic echo and sumptuous whisper of vocals at a time to become one of Britain's most championed underground forces - fitting for an act who began literally underground, in the basement of a Soho women's clothing boutique some ten years ago.
Now their success story is set to continue with the release of fifth studio album Turbines on June 18th on Full Time Hobby in America, their most bewitching and brilliant listen yet. "It's been a twisted adventure to this point, one that has taken us all over the world, an amazing journey," grins instrumentalist and founding member Mike Lindsay. As the band has evolved and grown, so too has its members. "There's a lot happened in this band in the last couple of years" he adds. "Children born, people moving into different places, falling in love, skipping country, broadening horizons maybe this is a coming-of-age record!"
Recorded mainly in a Dorset studio this is the first Tunng album where all six members were more or less all present at each stage of the recording process. Bar an excursion to album engineer and vintage equipment expert Ben 'Benge' Edwards' "synth museum" to add electronic embellishments. It's an album rich in colour and emotion, from the geyser-like organ eruptions of By This to the trip-hop grooves and thunderous timpani of Trip Trap and Heavy Rock Warning. "I remember thinking that this album would go full circle and match the first record in its experimentalism. But that didn't happen." Instead came Tunng's most direct and affecting effort to date. "It's more concise," says Winter. "It's just the essentials, delivered straight."
"It's our sci-fi folk rock album," declares Lindsay, who stresses the key to Turbines' enchanting charm is the sense of family among its creators. "We have been through a lot together, seen some amazing places and some pretty bad places too and it's time to see some more!"1. Once

Eternal Rituals For The Accretion Of LightPressed On Clear Black Smoke Colored Vinyl
Mesmerizing post-metal outfit JUNIUS are excited to reveal their first new music in over three years with their new full-length album Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light (ERAL) due out via PROSTHETIC RECORDS.
The album marks the completion of their conceptual trilogy which began in 2009 with their evoking LP The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist, depicted by Rolling Stone as a perfect hybrid of Neurosis and The Smiths followed by 2011's Reports From The Thresholds of Death. JUNIUS' latest release, the critically acclaimed 2014 EP Days of the Fallen Sun, was lauded by Pitchfork as their strongest and most sensuous work to date.
Recorded, mixed and mastered with longtime friend and producer Will Benoit (Caspian, Rosetta, Ellie Goulding), Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light takes inspiration from Elisabeth Haich's autobiography Initiation, whilst touching on topics including karma, reincarnation and spiritual development across it's ten melodically divine tracks. Following the departure of former member Mike Repasch-Nieves (guitars), the album was entirely written and performed by vocalist/guitarist Joseph E. Martinez, excluding drums/percussion which were completed by Dana Filloon. The album also features guest appearances from Drew Speziale (Circle Takes the Square) and Gian Minardi (General Public).1. For over half a decade Black Light Burns has served as a pure creative and musical outlet for Limp Bizkit/ex-Marilyn Manson guitarist Wes Borland. And since its formation, fans have clamored to be part of the musical sideshow. BLB released their debut Cruel Melody in 2007 featuring Danny Lohner (NIN), Josh Eustis (Puscifer) and Josh Freese (Weezer, A Perfect Circle, Guns N' Roses, Devo) and went on to tour with Sevendust, Chevelle, and From First To Last, featuring Sonny Moore aka Skrillex.
BLB followed-up with 2008's Cover Your Heart And The Anvil Pants Odyssey, an LP/DVD of covers and B-sides. In 2009, after a year-long stint playing guitar for Marilyn Manson, Wes and Black Light Burns hit the road for an extended run with industrial powerhouse Combichrist, and contributed the track "I Want You To," to the Underworld: Rise of the Lycans soundtrack.
BLB took a temporary hiatus while Borland stayed busy on a World Tour with the reformed Limp Bizkit until returning in 2012, to the delight of fans, with the track, "It Rapes All In Its Path" on the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack and the announcement of the forthcoming LP, The Moment You Realize You're Going To Fall. "This is a really personal record for me," says Borland. "I spent three years writing it and trying to find the right home, and I am confident it's the best Black Light Burns record yet."

VictoriousThe follow-up to 2009's Cosmic Egg and 2014's New Crown, the much-anticipated Victorious is an electrifying testament to the range and depth of songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale's artistry. Recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with two-time Grammy-winning producer Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Chris Cornell, Bruce Springsteen), the songs are edgy, inventive and uncompromising and rank among the band's best ever.
Stockdale began working on the record this past January at his Byron Bay studio in New South Wales, writing on every instrument and embracing the same creative approach he used on the band's debut album a decade ago.
Back in the early days, I'd play guitar, bass, and drums and then present the ideas to the band and we'd work on the arrangement together, he says. I thought it would be cool to get back to demoing ideas by myself and playing everything. It's a good way to do things because it can make the style more cohesive.
In addition to vocals, Stockdale played guitar and bass and brought in Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, Bruce Springsteen, A Perfect Circle) and Joey Waronker (Air, Beck, REM) to split drum duties.

Zip-A-Dee Doo DahOne of the most talented acts in Phil Spector's stellar recording stable, Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans featured the great Darlene Love, one of Spector's favorite vocal muses; Fanita James, who also sang alongside Love in the ubiquitous studio vocal group the Blossoms; and Bob B. Soxx himself, aka renowned singer Bobby Sheen, a legend in West Coast R&B circles. The trio's uncanny abilities provided Spector with an ideal vehicle to perfect his musical formula, making the trio's 1963 album Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah one of the most enchanting items in the Philles label catalog.
Recorded in the hallowed environs of L.A.'s Gold Star Studios with backup from the legendary Wrecking Crew, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah finds the trio cutting loose on a high-energy set that includes the Disney-inspired title hit and the infectious Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Heart? Love's powerful vocals are also featured on "My Heart Beat a Little Faster and the Jackie DeShannon-penned Jimmy Baby, while the ever-soulful Sheen is showcased on such tunes as Dear (Here Comes My Baby) and Everything's Gonna Be All Right. Includes LP Insert With Unreleased Photos And Interviews With Puddy Lion And Linval Thompson
Although his lack of touring kept him from being established as a major figure in
overground reggae circles, Linval Thompson's work as a singer, songwriter and
producer is essential to Jamaican music. Between 1977 and 1979, he released
five solo albums and produced countless artists on the side. Thompson acted as
a mentor to many up-and-comers, including Junjo Lawes, Scientist, and Eek-AMouse.
As dancehall became more prominent in the late 1970s, Thompson began to
offer up his rhythms to sound system deejays. The mysterious deejay LP, Bunny
Lion Red was originally released on London's Starlight records in 1979. Little was
written about the album at the time; however, we have uncovered that Bunny
Lion is in fact the legendary Puddy Roots of Killamanjaro Soundsystem fame.
Red features ten grooving Thompson Sound rhythms voiced by Puddy. This is

Good Times!Who's ready to have some fun with The Monkees as they celebrate their 50th anniversary? With a tour kicking off in May and the group's first new album in 20 years, GOOD TIMES!, releasing, Monkee-mania will be taking 2016 by storm!
GOOD TIMES! features all three surviving band members - Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. The unmistakable voice of the late Davy Jones is also included with a vintage vocal featured on one song. To produce the new album, the band found the perfect musical co-conspirator in Grammy® and Emmy®-winning songwriter Adam Schlesinger (Fountains Of Wayne, Ivy).
Much like The Monkees' early albums, GOOD TIMES! features tracks written specifically for the band by some of the music world's most gifted songwriters, including Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie), Andy Partridge (XTC), and Zach Rogue (Rogue Wave) as well as a song co-written by Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller. The album also includes songwriting contributions by Nesmith ("I Know What I Know") and Tork as well as producer Schlesinger.
To help bring the anniversary full circle, The Monkees completed songs for GOOD TIMES! that were originally recorded and written for the group during the 60s, including "Love To Love" by Neil Diamond, which features a vintage vocal by Jones. Harry Nilsson wrote the title track "Good Times," which he recorded at a session with Nesmith in January 1968. The production was never completed, so the band returned to the original session tape (featuring Nilsson's guide vocal) and have created a duet with his close friend Dolenz. "Good Times" will mark the first time Dolenz and Nilsson have sung together since Dolenz' May 1973 single "Daybreak." Other vintage 1960's tracks included on GOOD TIMES! feature L.A.'s famed "Wrecking Crew" of session musicians.

Mozart: Concerto For Piano And Orchestra No. 19 & 27 (Speakers Corner)
In spite of the varying degrees of popularity of Mozart's numerous piano concertos, no one would seriously consider ranking them by quality. It would certainly prove an impossible task, for each and every one of these intense yet often playful compositions could be considered the most perfect of its genre. In view of this, one should concentrate on each work's highly individual character and this can hardly be more contrasting than in the present two pieces. Thanks to the joyous, energetic disposition of No. 19 in F major, K. 259, it appears to be filled with the exuberant spirit of Mozart's Viennese period - a time when he amazed audiences with his dexterity at the keyboard. As a contrast, the mood of the late No. 27 in B flat major, K. 595, which was performed in a small circle, is introvert and mellow. The old adage that Mozart's final concerto was a gesture of farewell and filled with a premonition of death is certainly not substantiated by Haskil and Fricsay's performance. Through the subtle and flowing clarity of her piano part under the tense and elastic opposition of the orchestra, the soloist banishes the question of the end of time into the background and so pays hommage to the relaxed and self-assured mastery of the Salzburg composer.

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
This title is not eligible for discount.1. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 19 F major, K. 459

1990- Artistic ViceThis vinyl reissue from Universal Records features two of Daniel Johnston's one of a kind releases in one Double Gatefold package. Daniel Johnston has spent the last 20 or so years exposing his heartrending tales of unrequited love, cosmic mishaps, and existential torment to an ever-growing international cult audience. Initiates, including a healthy number of discerning musicians and critics, have hailed him as an American original in the style of bluesman Robert Johnson and country legend Hank Williams.
When several albums of Daniel's homemade recordings appeared in the late '80s, it created a significant buzz in music circles. Studio owner Mark Kramer was quickly on the scene, bringing Daniel to his own Shimmy-Disc label for his fine album 1990. 1990 is a collection of extremely polished and staggeringly honest odes to love, comic book heroes and music. Steve Shelley and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth accompany Johnston on Spirit World Rising, but most of the set finds Daniel alone at the piano or guitar. His version of Lennon and McCartney's Got To Get You Into My Life has never been covered with this degree of conviction, streamlined down to its essential rhythmic core.
Artistic Vice was the first album on which Daniel Johnston fronted a band. The record is a testament to Daniel's own innate musicality that the songs lend themselves so perfectly to the casual accompaniment heard here. They can shift easily from quiet country balladry to punkish rave ups. As always, his songs are direct, honest, hookladen and imminently coverable.1990 - Side 1

KLUDGE idiosyncratically captures life as it exists in our weird almost future world of flying
robots, cancer from food, cell phone wire taps, metadata, $7.25ish minimum wage and
$15.50 an hour endless choice buffets. Yet, the album possesses that inherent sense of
timelessness that exists in all great music. Thanks to its combination of addictively fetching
rock 'n' roll and Daniel Pujol's lyrical brilliance, the end result proves yet again that Daniel
Pujol is, first and foremost, a songwriter.
Examining well-worn subjects like love, death, authenticity, identity, alienation and
society, Pujol applies a filter completely his own and brings these ideas to a place they've
never existed before. His words examine the world with his signature brand of skepticism,
humor, idealism, and an unmistakable earnestness and sincerity. Lead single "Circles"
perfectly illustrates this with lines like "Show me that your sacred heart's the human
kindness kind / Show me more than 3D printers drawing skulls and knives / Show me
more than kleptocratic demagogue control / Show me that you ain't a lizard, show you've
got a soul."1. Judas Booth

UNIM-HEA-4016xThe Firemen / Paul McCartney / Youth
Electric ArgumentsAmbient dreams in rainbow arches describe the circles of The Fireman, is how the duo described their music in a rare interview around the release of their last album Rushes in 1998. Their first album Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest, released in 1993, was a solid ambient dance album heavy on electronics. Around this time the identity of The Fireman was unknown until the press exposed the duo as none other than Paul McCartney and Youth. The now defunct music bible Melody Maker heaped praise on the project, Paul McCartney has discovered dance music, the results are staggeringly brilliant. They (The Fireman) take a melody and, with dexterous genre-hopping through ambient, trance and house, evolve a number of breathtaking variations.
The Fireman return after a ten-year break. Electric Arguments is their third studio album and its not the album people might expect from the mysterious duo. Electric Arguments is an eclectic and varied album consisting of thirteen tracks recorded in thirteen days. Each track was written and recorded in the space of one day with Paul playing all instruments except one track, which Youth plays guitar on. The Fireman went into the studio with no plan or clear direction of how they wanted the album to sound. The project took a life of its own and the results will surprise anyone expecting to hear the previous sound of the band. The albums opener Nothing Too Much Just Out Of Sight is classic rock and an instant attention grabber. A heavy guitar riff with loud drums and souring vocals, its like nothing The Fireman have ever done before. The second track, the acoustic driven Two Magpies immediately takes you in a different direction, calming things right down. Then we reach the third song Sing The Changes, a euphoric upbeat song with an instantly memorable melody. Electric Arguments continues in this fashion, keeping the listener intrigued as to where The Fireman will take them next. Each album track has an entirely different personality, yet somehow this collection sits together perfectly. Other standout tracks include Light From Your Lighthouse, Sun Is Shining and Dance Til Were High, all in keeping with the genre-hopping spirit of the first two The Fireman albums. From listening to the album its clear that Paul McCartney is still interested in pure musical possibilities. This is an album with something for everyone. Made with no record company restraints or a set release date to work to, Electric Arguments was made with complete artistic and creative freedom.1. Nothing Too Much Just Out Of Sight

Conditions Of My Parole (Out Of Stock)Puscifer is the brainchild of Tool/A Perfect Circle front man Maynard James Keenan. Spin said of the debut album: ...sharp and giant-sounding, with a delightfully subversive sense of melody while Kerrang described the set as Filthy, sexy, electronic beats that writhe and shake it like Tool never could. With Conditions of My Parole, Keenan retreated to his Arizona homestead, recording the twelve-track album he describes as Twin Peaks in the desert. The result is twelve slightly sinister yet perversely danceable songs that use the notoriously reclusive Keenan's surroundings as inspiration.1. Tiny Monsters

V Is For Vagina (Out Of Stock)Maynard James Keenan steps outside his brain for a moment and delivers a down 'n' dirty batch of songs that have more in common with soul than Satan. Whether the dark 'n' sexy Dozo, the moody Momma Sed, or the electronic pummeling of The Undertaker, Keenan and friends (an impressive and eclectic cast that includes Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Tim Alexander, and Danny Lohner) never disappoint.
Darkly funny, wickedly funny, and sexy, V is for Vagina is a welcome change of pace from the Tool/A Perfect Circle frontman and will no doubt be one of the most talked about--and misunderstood--records of the year.LP 1

Live On Fire (Out Of Stock)Colored Triple Vinyl Set of This Amazing Live Show!
Despite having planned his career meticulously over the past 25 years or so, even in the camp of German hard rock master Axel Rudi Pell surprises cannot be ruled out: Before playing in front of a sold-out Cologne crowd on the second leg of his wildly successful Circle Of The Oath tour, the opportunity arose for taping the whole show, with cameras being all over. Well, Axel gave it a try. And that was a good move. Ten years after his last live album Knights Live (2002), you can - again - be a witness of a complete concert from the Bochum-based guitar virtuoso and his German-American all-star band. To round out the Axel Rudi Pell live package, the recording of the co-headlining gig at last year's Rock Of Ages festival was added to Live On Fire, the name of his newest live oeuvre.
Obviously, a live album doesn't have the same importance and significance as a new studio output, but it nevertheless is a perfect snapshot in time, because 2012 was the most successful year in Axel Rudi Pell's solo career by far. Circle Of The Oath, album No. 14, was released on March 23 and rode high on the charts all over Europe: in his homeland Germany, the critically acclaimed disc made it up to No. 16 in the first week, Switzerland welcomed good old Axel on No. 30, Austria on No. 55, Norway on No. 69 and in Sweden he went up to No. 51. And last but not least, he received another gold award for selling out three consecutive nights at the famous Zeche venue in his native Bochum. Apart from that, he rocked the summer crowds at the legendary Sweden Rock and Wacken Open Air festivals, as well as the open-air Rock Of Ages in Germany together with his band.
Even though Axel loves the composing part at home and the recording business in the studio, home is where the heart is and that's being on stage. Being musically socialized in the Golden Age of hard rock (the Seventies) he's probably a bigger fan of live albums than he would admit. As they say: applause is the performer's meat and drink. But without sometimes being anarchistic spontaneously and playing with the audience's emotions, without the sweat coming off the ceiling and the priceless energy being trapped in the middle of an adventure that is called live concert, when the lights go down and every amp is on fire - the life of a true rocker would be incomplete. Speaking of which: besides his success, Axel Rudi Pell has always been that down-to-earth guy and mainly the fan he was turned into when he first heard DEEP PURPLE's Fireball back in the day. With Live On Fire, he accomplishes a long-desired wish and gives his fans what they desperately want for quite some time.
No surprise at all that the main focus is set on the newbies: here's the striking chords of fast and furious opener Ghost In The Black, the hard rocking pounding of Before I Die and without a doubt one of Axel's best songs written in a decade: the brilliant Circle Of The Oath, which would make Jimmy Page cry out loud. But there's more to listen to on Live On Fire: the passion for medleys (The Masquerade Ball/Casbah/Dreaming Dead) combined with some all-time classics here and there (ZEPPELIN's Whole Lotta Love or PURPLE's Mistreated).1. Completement Fou (Out Of Stock)Yelle's third album will be released on the hit-maker's own Kemosabe Records and the team-up makes good sense. Though these Frenchies may not have one of the household names we're used to seeing next to that man's handle (Katy Perry, Robin Thicke, Britney Spears) they've long possessed an originality of voice and strength in songwriting that transcends whatever their trappings. Of course, they see it a bit differently. "We just do things we love," says Yelle, nÉe Julie Budet. "This is the only rule we have. At the end of the day this is what makes Yelle: Spontaneity."
And Yelle once again make an album that is pure Yelle. Complètement Fou is equally wild and wry, celebratory and melancholy, sensual and strange, forceful and full of fun. Cofounder and key composer GrandMarnier (Jean-François Perrier) laid down the frame for each song. Then Luke and his ace team - Oliver, Cirkut, Kool Kojack, A.C, Billboard, JMIKE, and MadMax - amplified what was already there instead of inventing a new identity. Collaboration was new territory, but it was the perfect path forward to advance the bouncy, synthesizer-rich sound of 2011s Safari Disco Club.
Look no further than the titular track to hear that growth in action: "Complètement Fou" opens with chopped rave keys, round sequencer blips, a mighty low-end kick, and playful effects à la Basement Jaxx. Then comes Yelle's voice - a transcendent thing that compliments those lush electronics so well. While "Coca Sans Bulles" tows the dark/light line between '80s electro oddness and Daft Punk disco, "Jeune Fille Garnement" slinks/surges like the Knife's freaky outrÉ techno. "Ba$$in" swirls rap with Eurodance; "Dire Qu'on Va Tous Mourir" puts R&B through a Oneohtrix filter.
And then there's "Moteur Action," a song whose summer breeziness suggests a top-down highway ride, oversized sunglasses on, scarf trailing behind. Though knowing Yelle, the lyrics aren't so blithe as those ebullient oohs might have you believe. Our heroine explains the album's primary themes as "relationships, love, bodies, dance, and sensuality, but also death." Ecstasy prevails in parts too. We'll let you seek your own translation of "Nuit de Baise," but "Florence en Italie" was inspired by Stendhal Syndrome, which causes viewers of particularly moving art to swoon and pass out.
Yelle sought a lyrical partner for Complètement Fou as well: "a French dandy called JÉrôme Echenoz," in her words, though he's best known as Tacteel (of TTC, for those who remember the details of Yelle's 2007 debut, Pop Up). "We used to do everything by ourselves," she says, "but we wanted to open the circle this time around because we love people!" She insists there are no direct dis songs in the vein of "Je Veux Te Voir," only "some winks here and there not personal, more about society." To wit, she counts Votaire's monumental 1759 satire Candide among the LP's influences.
At the heart of Yelle today is the same spirit that brought the pair formerly known as Julie and Jean-François together, as great friends, in 2000. They initially called their project YEL - an acronym for "You Enjoy Life" - but the exuberant, feminized, Francofied shout they've taken for a moniker suits them perfectly. We yell when we are happy with the world and we yell when we're pissed off at its ways. But we probably yell our best when we're complètement fou.

Cow / Chill Out, World! (Out Of Stock)Being pioneers with a new album created in no more than 6 months, THE ORB are bound to be exposed to fan expectations running high, while quizzical questions about little fluffy clouds and the good old times take over. It's especially jarring as the duo of accomplished soundsmiths Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann has become known for its genre-bending curiosity and surprising sonic detours, exploring experimental soundscapes as well as club-friendly beats. The funny thing is, though, that whatever the context, you know a track from THE ORB when you hear it. Case in point: COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, their latest full-length offering - a masterful ambient album that branches out in many directions, but unmistakably sounds like THE ORB in either ear (and probably to your third ear, too).
The idea was simply to make an ambient album, Dr Paterson explains, we didn't look back and study earlier recordings, but wanted a more spontaneous approach, a focus on THE ORB today, our vibe in 2016. In contrast to their much-acclaimed previous full-length MOONBUILDING 2703 - which took years to prepare and finetune -, the new album was produced over the course of only five sessions in six months, directly following the like-minded ALPINE EP: it got so spontaneous that a track like 9 ELMS OVER RIVER ENO (CHANNEL 9) consisted only of material collected at North Carolina's Moogfest in May - second-hand records from local stores, field recordings, live samples from gigs that we liked, and of course an excursion to the Eno River, which actually exists. This geographic intimacy and the spontaneity are among the top reasons why we love this album so much.
Herr Fehlmann sees the duo's relentless gigging schedule as a formative influence on the new album: the countless performances we've played in the last years - probably up to 300 - have brought us closer as a musical unit. The spice of our concerts is improvisation - a fertile process that we've brought to the studio, where we operate with very simple rules of engagement (in this case ambient) and go wherever the flow takes us. It's an approach that one might expect from traditional acoustic instrumentation, not necessarily an electronic set-up, but for THE ORB it works wonders: we're quite happy and also a little bit proud that we've reached this level of unscripted levity with purely electronic means. We're finessing ourselves, sort of, always looking for the next sonic surprise that leaves us rubbing our eyes about how the heck we got there.
Once more, THE ORB's trademark playfulness is on full display on COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, and it doesn't limit itself to the multi-layered sampling and psychedelic sound composites that the duo has become known for - you'll find it in the album title as well. The simple invitation (or order?) to chill out (relax? Calm the eff down?) is converted into an acronym - and the cow that you might expect to find on a Pink Floyd cover or with iconic UK chill-out/dance pranksters The KLF. It's not so much an obscure trope coming full circle as a perfect example for THE ORB's multitimbral approach to sound and meaning - a compelling, immersive journey to diverse places and impressions. Each track title is a conceptual work in its own right, playing with multiple references, some of which remain highly personal and mysterious. But the greatest feat of THE ORB's latest outing might just be how all this semantic doodling never gets in the way of the actual listening, at all times directly relating the artists' sonic vitality and cheerful nosiness. Chill out world! and treat yourself to an outstanding new ambient experience from THE ORB.1. First, Consider The Lilies
