Improving on perfection
Ortofon is proud to launch the MC A95, a world class moving coil cartridge to commemorate the 95th anniversary of Ortofon's technical leadership in the audio industry.
With the MC A95, the bar is raised for its predecessor, the MC A90. The MC A95 not only celebrates the past 95 years of Ortofon, first and foremost it also makes history by significantly raising the standards by which sound reproduction is measured, making it a celebration of sound itself.
The new Ortofon MC A95 has gone to the next level by reducing unwanted vibrations and increasing the dynamic capability of the cartridge. Our extensive knowledge of vibration properties, characteristics in different shapes and materials, competences in magnetism, mechanical design and new technologies has been applied for optimization of the MC A95.
Those who choose to adopt the MC A95 will experience the lifelike, open sound, with exceedingly clear midrange for a presentation that is unparalleled. The MC A95 remains extremely musical while paying close attention to micro dynamic details, with its delicate, but also analytical nature.
Lovers of music will take note of a truly organic and encapsulating experience which transcends the boundaries of recording and undeniably blurs the distinction between what is live and what is recorded.
Flexibility and performance with a range of compatibility
With optimal weight and compliance to suit the vast majority of modern tonearms, the MC A95 is easily compatible with a seemingly endless array of modern contemporary high-end turntable equipment. Low internal impedance makes the MC A95 less sensitive to load and therefore ensures compatibility with Ortofon ST-80 SE transformer, as well as with the widest range of preamps and transformers. By combining the utilization of the SLM process, our patented WRD system and zero-resonance spikes, we are confident that the perfect mechanical integration of this cartridge with your tonearm will result in a significant and breathtaking increase in dynamics, resolution, and richness in detail.
The new Ortofon MC A95 will undoubtedly provide sound which is literally unsurpassed and simply has to be experienced. Of course, aesthetically, the MC A95 has a distinctive, elegant design which makes no compromises.$6,499.00SLM Cartridge With Replicant 100 Buy Now

Hive MindIf youve heard Daniel Martin-McCormicks name recently, it would have been either in association with his disco / punk / echo band Mi Ami, or as Sex Worker on the Not Not Fun label, or as Ital on NNFs sister label 100% Silk. Raised in Washington, DC, Martin-McCormick has a history in the citys hardcore scenehe was in Dischord Records band Black Eyes in the early 2000sbut was also making dance-inspired tracks during the same period, coming from a very different angle than the average guy with a copy of Logic Pro and a working knowledge of dance musics history.
Martin-McCormicks music is a stranger thing. Hive Mind, his debut full-length under the Ital moniker, uses houses easygoing 4/4 structure as a kind of camouflage for more out-there sonic explorations, subverting expectations, seeking the links between dubs space- and sound-bending, industrials unsettling sonics and the effects and black holes of minimal at its weirdest. The album has a sculptured feel: sounds twist in space while melodies pitch-shift in an unsettling way, voices fade in and out, nothing is ever allowed to settle comfortably, everything vibrates.
Opener Doesnt Matter (If You Love Him) sounds a bit like Tackhead if they had made house music, using a flickering and confidently repeated phrase over a lumbering drum and bass line, introducing swirling and bombing synths into the mix once the secret comes out. The strange marriage of treated voices and swelling, pitch-bent chords and effects on Floridian Void draws the listener into its strange atmosphere; its an ambient house track of sorts, but the ambience here is a swirling, confusing, watery vortex rather than fuzzy, new age pap. Privacy Settings builds creepy wolf howls over a slow bass line and cold, far-away drums, estranged from their usual disco setting, while Israel picks things up again, with weird, pitch-shifting bells over dubby toms and cold chords. Final Wave restores the album to something resembling normality, with a disco-like swing that recalls Moodymanns beat-down productions slid through brutal dub-like effects that bring out a shade of strangeness in an otherwise happy groove.1. The HostThe Host, producer Barry Lynn's new alias, works in a spacey interzone, using vintage gear to create dramatic panoramas for the headphoned mind. His unique suite of modern impressionistic sonics tumble and waft in and out of the mix, grounded with strong melodies that take inspiration from net-age genres while never recalling them directly.
Throughout this self-titled debut album, vintage synths, drum machines and reverb are exploited to their fullest potential, while guitar and bass explore a sound that sets apart The Host from producers working on computers, creating something much more like an actual band but rich with lively micro-detail.
Opening track "Neo-Geocities" is full of drifting synths and distorted drum-machine toms reminiscent of a jerry-rigged footwork style; "Angel Fire" melts muted guitar and gentle keys into haywire 808 rhythms; "Internet Archaeology" dubs hazy melodies, tape edits and bass guitar into murky but uplifting melodic shapes. "Hidden Ontology" riffs majestically over arpeggiated synths, while "3AM Surfing" and "Summer Solstice at Cape Canaveral" savor the quiet moments after a good night out.
"Rainy Sequences/Phosphene Patterns" is a dense and ecstatic blur of sound, coalescing into a pretty guitar melody weaving through the lush noise, and the pastoral drift of "Aeontology" is best appreciated while horizontal. Closing with the delicate and exquisitely detailed spring mood of the gentle "Birthday Bluebells," The Host introduces a focused and unique artist with a strong debut.1. Neo-Geocities

Grievous AngelGram Parsons pioneered the concept of a rock band playing country music, playing in bands such as The Byrds, The International Submarine Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers. His work has influenced both country and rock artists such as The Rolling Stones and Linda Ronstadt by blending the two genres to the point that they became indistinguishable from each other.
Compiled from 1973 studio sessions 'Grievous Angel' was originally released in 1974, four months after the songwriters death. It was the second solo album from Gram Parsons and is viewed as a successful example of the hybrid between country androck and rollParsons called Cosmic American Music. Bad ReputationJoan Jett's debut album is an infectious romp through her influences, ranging from classic '50s and '60s rock & roll through glam rock, three-chord
loud'n'fast Ramones punk, and poppier new wave guitar rock. Half the songs on the original album (not counting bonus tracks on the remastered reissue)
are covers, but whether it's Lesley Gore's feminist girl-group anthem You Don't Own Me (featuring the Sex Pistols' Steve Jones and Paul Cook) or a
roaring version of Gary Glitter's Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah), Jett makes them all work. The production can be a little weak in spots, but Jett's
exuberance and tough-girl attitude overcome most deficiencies. Plus, the title track is a classic. - Steve Huey1. Bad Reputation

Tolling 13 Knell (Out of Stock)Cult band Mortuary Drape was formed in Italy in 1986 as a trio, including the now long-standing & sole-remaining member, Wildness Perversion. Highly inspired by the dark arts & combining early influences from bands such as Mercyful Fate & Celtic Frost, Mortuary Drape developed their own unique style, defining themselves as black occult metal & releasing the demo 'Necromancy' in 1987 which spread their name throughout the underground; though it was not until 1992 that their first official release surfaced, with 'Into the Drape'. This was followed by the debut full-length album, the classic 'All the Witches Dance' in 1994.
'Tolling 13 Knell', Mortuary Drape's third full-length album was originally released in 2000 on Avantgarde Music. Often regarded as one of the band's strongest works, the album delivers an eerie concoction of evil metal riffing & dark occult atmosphere to unnerving effect.
'Tolling 13 Knell' has now been fully remastered especially for this release, with the process overseen by the band. This reissue also contains extra tracks in the form of re-recorded versions of the infamous 'Doom Return' demo songs. These new versions were recorded during the 'Tolling 13 Knell' sessions.
Mortuary Drape have recently been busy recording their latest album, as well as performing some high profile shows.LP1
