After MidnightOnce Nat King Cole gave up playing piano on a regular basis and instead focused on a series of easy listening vocal albums, jazz fans longed for him to return to his first love. These 1956 studio sessions made up Cole's last jazz-oriented disc, where he played piano and sang on every number, joined by several guest soloists. Cole's vocals are impeccable and swinging, while his piano alternates between providing subdued backgrounds and light solos that don't reveal his true potential on the instrument. Willie Smith's smooth alto sax buoys the singer in the brisk take of Just You, Just Me. Harry Sweets Edison's muted trumpet complements the leader in his interpretation of Sweet Lorraine. Composer Juan Tizol's valve trombone and former Cole sideman Jack Costanzo's bongos add just the right touch to the brisk take of Caravan. Stuff Smith's humorous, unusually understated violin is a nice touch in When I Grow Too Old to Dream. It's hard for any Nat King Cole fan to ignore these important sessions. [The original version of this release featured a dozen tracks, later expanded to 17 in the '80s with the discovery of some unreleased material. Yet another track, the alternate take of You're Looking at Me, was also found and added to reissues beginning in the late '90s.]

Midnight LoveMidnight Love was Marvin Gaye's final album, conceived in 1982 after a long recluse in Oostende, Belgium. Harmonious, sensual, uplifting and funky, Midnight Love became his swansong after Gaye went through a rough time, secluded from the mainstream and finding out where he belonged. We can safely say, it would be in the studio. He wrote every song on Midnight Love himself, which culminated in the smash hit "Sexual Healing".
A creative genius and trained multi-instrumentalist, Gaye played every instrument on the song himself, except for the guitar. We can only guess what gems Gaye would have produced in his later years, as his life was taken by his own father just 18 months later.1. Midnight Lady

J.J. Cale never recorded a full album until Eric Clapton scored a huge hit with Cale's 'After Midnight'. Encouraged by friend and producer Audie Ashworth, J.J. Cale recorded Naturally to capitalize on the success of his song.
He released his debut album in 1972, not knowing this would be the beginning of the so-called Tulsa-sound. A lazy, rolling Boogie that contradicted all the commercial styles of Boogie, Blues, and Country-Rock that was popular at the time. This new sound became the blueprint for the adult-oriented Roots Rock of Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler, among others.
Naturally contains a new version of 'After Midnight' recorded by J.J. Cale as well as the hits 'Crazy Mama' and 'Call Me The Breeze', which was later covered by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Over the years J.J. Cale has written several hits for other musicians and recorded more than fifteen albums which makes him one of the most successful and lasting singer- songwriters of his generation.1. Call Me The Breeze

Point Of EntryPoint of Entry is the seventh album from the British heavy metal band Judas Priest. It was originally released on 26 February 1981.
In 1980 Judas Priest garnered some airplay with Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight from their album British Steel. As a result, the band pursued a more radio-friendly direction on Point of Entry.
Following the conclusion of the British Steel World Tour, the band began work on their next project. By this time, they had sufficient funds to fly all their equipment to the huge, state-of-the-art Ibiza Studios in Spain. This gave Point Of Entry a louder, stronger, more live sound than previous Judas Priest albums.1. Heading Out to the Highway

CollectedCollected, the ultimate J.J. Cale collection from 2013 already proved to be a highlight of Music On Vinyl's catalog. Now we're revisiting this essential compilation in a slightly slimmer package: without printed innersleeves, and with a 4-page booklet instead of the 8 pages of liner note material previously included.
This American cult legend has turned his laidback style into a trademark. J.J. Cale has forged an inspiring career that spans four decades. He received his first major exposure in 1970 thanks to Eric Clapton, who turned J.J. Cale's After Midnight into a hit song overnight. A few years later, Clapton repeated the trick with Cocaine.
But the legacy of J.J. Cale has much more to offer: collected on three 180 gram LPs chock full of rootsy Americana songs that will stay in the back of your head long after you turned off the record player.LP1

Greatest Hits (Patsy Cline)200-gram vinyl pressing by Quality Record Pressings!
Cut at Sterling Sound directly from the original master tape. This was a straight transfer, bypassing the console altogether. There was no EQ of any kind. A true direct transfer, using a VMS 80, the most sophisticated lathe. You're hearing the master tape!
In the late 1950s and the '60s, country music was essentially a singles medium. This album, first released in 1967, collects a dozen of Patsy Cline's biggest hits - all of them from the country singles market - including Walkin' After Midnight, Sweet Dreams (Of You), Crazy, and I Fall to Pieces. Producer Owen Bradley surrounds Cline's full-throated, emotionally charged vocals with lush, sophisticated arrangements that set the standard for Nashville's countrypolitan sound. Before Shania Twain found a new (though not necessarily improved) way to combine country and pop in the 1990s, this was the top-selling country album of all time by a female artist.

Blues In OrbitRemastered By Bernie Grundman From The Original Analog Tapes
Gatefold Old-school Tip-On On Jacket By Stoughton Printing
Plated And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings
It's tempting for Blues in Orbit to be overlooked when Duke Ellington's best albums are discussed, but truly it's an undisputed gem. There are 14 tracks, none of them is longer than 4:50 and it is all good stuff. There are some familiar favorites such as In a Mellotone and C Jam Blues as well as less often heard gems like Blues in Blueprint and Sweet and Pungent. It is also in stereo, and the arrangements are superb.
The featured performers include Ellington stalwarts Johnnie Hodges, Ray Nance, Harry Carney and Jimmy Hamilton, as well as the less familiar Booty Wood and Matthew Gee. Johnnie, in particular is well showcased here, taking the lead not only in slow pieces like Brown Penny and Sentimental Lady, but also in the rousing, Smada.
The full Analogue Productions reissue treatment is at work on this smashing LP - famed mastering engineer Bernie Grundman handled the remastering from the original analog tapes. The lacquers were plated and pressed at Quality Record Pressings, maker of the world's finest-sounding LPs. Lastly we've stashed each super-silent 200-gram disc in a premium Stoughton Printing gatefold jacket.
All of the takes were recorded during after midnight sessions recorded over two nights starting on December 2, 1959 in New York at Columbia Record's studio on East 30th Street. Each night Duke's late dinner arrived at 2 a.m. - a sizzling steak, a pot of coffee with lemons in it, portions of American cheese, and grapefruits. After dinner, and a breather for the band, the sessions finished around dawn in a swinging fashion.
If you're just getting into jazz, this album is highly recommended as a great way to initiate your collection. The sound is incredible, with packaging to match. Another audiophile home run.

musical masterworks, guitar great J.J.
Cale and three-time Rock and Roll Hall

Claptonhave teamed up for the first
time to create an original album together, The Road To Escondido. The resulting hybrid sound defies being labeled,
but instead finds influence across the
spectrum of blues, rock, country and
folk. The songs are warm and rich, with
deep flowing rhythms, yet use an economy of words to express much.
In a true collaboration,
Cale (whose songs "After Midnight" and "Cocaine"
Clapton had previously covered) and Clapton jointly
produced and recorded the album, each playing and
singing on the tracks. Cale wrote 11 of the songs,
Clapton wrote "Three Little Girls," John Mayer

Bo Diddley's Beach PartyFrom The Original Chess/Checker Masters In Glorious Mono
Faithful Reproduction Of The Original Artwork
It's the beach party of your dreams. Not one of those with the squeaky-clean suburban kids doing the frug at Malibu like in the movies, oh no. This is Myrtle Beach, filled with dangerous bikers and gang members and hot mamas and escaped convicts and god knows who else (best not to ask), all cruising for kicks. It's after midnight but the heat still lingers from a blistering day. Except for a small bonfire, the dark is all-enveloping; couples vanish into it and you'd best be looking elsewhere. At the fire, some guy's carving his initials into his hand with a pen knife, and two babes are noodle-dancing to the waves, or maybe just the voices in their heads. They need music, dammit. Just then, a cloud of dust materializes at the far end of the boardwalk, heading your way, getting closer by the minute. As it approaches, you can just make out the silhouette of a rather large man atop a little motor scooter, some crazy looking guitar slung over his shoulder. Who IS this guy? The scooter chugs to a stop at your feet, and off steps the only musician in the known world who could play this party without having the shit kicked out of him. Bo Diddley.
He plugs in, kicks off a scorching guitar riff. The band falls in. And the place goes totally batshit. Miraculously, someone thought to bring along a tape recorder. The result: Bo Diddley's Beach Party, the absolute pinnacle of vicarious musical thrills. Presented in its original, glorious, Distort-O-Phonic mono, this sweaty grungefest kicks ass from start to finish.
Lots of albums claim to be essential, groundbreaking, and all that crap, and pointyheaded rock crits fawn over cosmic lyrical brainfarts and diminished ninths and such. Bo Ddiddley's Beach Party just kicks sand in their faces and dares you not to dance.
Sundazed earnestly believes that you have no business calling yourself a rock 'n roll fan, an r&b maven, or even a sentient human being unless this album is in your collection, that's how crucial it is. In fact, don't even talk to us until it's in your hands. We mean it.1. Memphis

DetourCyndi Lauper's celebrated musical journey takes an unexpected southern turn on DETOUR, her 11th studio album, which finds the Grammy®, Emmy® and Tony®-winning singer-songwriter putting her signature spin on a dozen classic country songs.
DETOUR showcases Lauper's unmistakable voice on country classics from the '40s, '50s and '60s and features guest appearances from county music stars Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, and Willie Nelson. Lauper recorded the album in Nashville alongside a band comprised of the city's top session players.
The album is Lauper's first for Sire Records (Rhino) and is executive produced by legendary Sire founder, Seymour Stein.
Lauper says recording a country album is something she's dreamed about for many years. Growing up, she recalls listening to singers like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Wanda Jackson in her Aunt Gracie's kitchen. When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to. These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them.
Lauper sounds right at home from the start, beginning with the album opener, Funnel Of Love, a track Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly, recorded in 1960. Another highlight is the rollicking take on Heartaches By The Number, a country standard previously covered by everyone from George Jones to Waylon Jennings to Dwight Yoakum. DETOUR also features stunning covers of two classic Pasty Cline songs, Walkin' After Midnight and her #1 smash, I Fall To Pieces. Lauper says, I spent a lot of time in my room singing with Patsy. I had to sing a Patsy Cline song - or two - because her voice was like one of my girlfriends. That's how close I felt to her.
For the album, Lauper duets with several special guests, including country music royalty: Emmylou Harris (on the title track), Willie Nelson (Night Life, a song he wrote over 50 years ago), Vince Gill (Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty's You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly) and Alison Krauss (Dolly Parton's Hard Candy Christmas. Jewel also makes an appearance on DETOUR, showcasing her prodigious yodeling skills on I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart, which was the first country song by a woman to sell one million copies.1. Redeemer Of SoulsCLASSIC JUDAS PRIEST METAL ON THE WAY WITH THEIR 17TH ALBUM 'REDEEMER OF SOULS'
There are only a select number of bands that have accomplished what Judas Priest has throughout their career (as well as having served as a stylistic influence on such a wide variety of bands). Soon the group - singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis - will be offering up more classic Judas Priest metal with the release of 'Redeemer of Souls'
'Redeemer of Souls' is Judas Priest's latest collection of epic metal - raising the bar is consistent for us and 'Redeemer' hits the ground running - it matches up perfectly to earlier Priest classics as evidenced by the album's leadoff single 'March of the Damned'
(we are forging ahead, slamming the pedal to the metal!) - the band mean business once again.
We feel 'Redeemer of Souls' reinforces our passion for what we believe in from the Judas Priest style heavy metal. The album also marks Richie Faulkner's studio debut with Priest and is the co-writer of the material along with Glenn Tipton and Rob Halford.
First bursting onto the scene with 1974's 'Rocka Rolla' Judas Priest is responsible for some of heavy metal's all-time great albums - 1980's 'British Steel', 1982's 'Screaming for Vengeance', 1990's 'Painkiller' etc - and anthems 'Breaking the Law', 'Living After Midnight', 'You've Got Another Thing Coming' etc - as well as trailblazing metal's now instantly identifiable look - leather and studs - 2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the band.
And while fans are undoubtedly starved for more Priest (their last studio album 'Nostradamus' was released in 2008) the band themselves are eager for the world to hear their latest studio triumph. Classic combination of all the statements we love to create with raging guitar riffs and solos, thundering drums, thick grooves of bass and vocals tearing it all up!LP 1

Live In San Diego (with Special Guest JJ Cale)Eric Clapton's Live in San Diego With Special Guest JJ Cale is a live album from the 2007 tour featuring JJ Cale, Doyle Bramhall II, Robert Cray, Derek Trucks and more. Almost 2 hours of music including previously unreleased versions of Layla, Tell The Truth, Cocaine and Crossroads.
Recorded at Clapton's March 15, 2007 performance at the iPayOne Center in San Diego, CA, this concert was part of a world tour that was much loved by Clapton fans and featured a stellar band that included guitarists Derek Trucks (now of the Tedeschi Trucks band) and Doyle Bramhall II. The two-hour San Diego concert was a highlight of the tour as it featured JJ Cale as a special guest on five tracks (including "After Midnight" and "Cocaine"), as well as Robert Cray on the final song of the record, "Crossroads."
After successfully covering several JJ Cale songs over his career, Clapton finally collaborated with Cale in 2006 on the original album Road to Escondido. At the time, Clapton said "This is the realization of what may have been my last ambition, to work with the man whose music has inspired me for as long as I can remember." So it is fitting that one year later, Cale joined Clapton on stage for this special concert where they performed five songs together - underlining the mutual respect the two musicians had for each other.
The concert features a superb set list from across Eric's career. Notably, it includes songs from Eric's classic Derek and the Dominos album Layla, with Derek Trucks playing many of Duane Allman's original guitar parts.
Clapton's career, spanning more than 50 years, has resulted in 18 Grammy Awards and the distinct honor of being the only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Blues In OrbitDuke Ellington is seen by many as one of the frontrunners of Jazz and as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. He was a part of the Harlem Renaissance and many feel that because of him, Jazz gained recognition as a art form.
Many of his instrumental songs have become Jazz standards, and his distinctive style remains a shining beacon in music. Thanks to a stellar performance at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1957 there was a renewed interest in his music and his orchestra, and they performed all over the world.
Blues In Orbit was mostly recorded during one after-midnight session after they had returned from a run of shows in Europe. It presents a Big Band in full swing; there is true synergy at work here that could only come from a group of musicians that expect - and get - the best from each other. Free flowing improvisations and straightforward arrangements show a band that is kicking back, relaxing, and doing it nice 'n' easy.1. Three J's Blues

Memories of You: Sinatra Waves Farewell to Capitol on Elegantly Dressed Standards Set from 1961
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity 180 Gram LP Captures Gracefulness of Ornate Orchestrations
Sinatra Reunited With Arranger Axel Stordahl, Collaborator That Spearheaded the Voice's Rise in the 1940s
Thematic Songs Address Goodbyes With Profound Sense of Sadness, Longing
Nobody says goodbye like Frank Sinatra. For his final album with Capitol, Ol' Blue Eyes elected to croon an unforgettable selection of farewell songs marked with longing, sadness, and poignancy. To make the occasion even more special, he teamed with arranger Axel Stordahl, the virtuoso that helped launch Sinatra's star at Columbia during the 1940s. The results amount to one of the finest send-off statements in history.
Mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelity's numbered limited edition 180 gram stereo LP presents the songs as they should be experienced: In rich, lush, front-to-back sound in which the strings soar and literally inhale and exhale. Sinatra's singing, as good as it's ever been during his career, comes across with unfettered transparency and tonal purity. Such is the fidelity, the music turns into aural poetry, rendering completely fluid and tube-amp warm the rushes of strings, words, and structures.
Sinatra fans continually debate which of the artist's albums rank as his best, but there's no doubting the status attached to Point of No Return. Unquestionably the most overlooked effort in the Chairman's Capitol catalog, it defies common expectation that it was made haphazardly to simply fulfill a contractual obligation. Sinatra's presence alone guarantees that isn't the case, yet Stordahl's involvement ensures this 1961 set is something very special indeed.
The chemistry between the old collaborators is immediately evident. Sinatra inhabits every phrase, feeling, and expression conveyed on the dozen standards, achieving an intimate connection with Stordahl's instrumental accents. Akin to the downbeat moods he casts on the immortal In the Wee Small Hours and Only the Lonely, the vocalist keeps calm and cool, yearning and reflecting as if he's strolling a barren downtown after midnight, a man left alone with his thoughts and memories. Somber, wistful, meditative, teary-eyed sentimental-Sinatra paints each song with the emotions they need, nothing more and nothing less.
From regal ("These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You)") to nostalgic ("I'll Be Seeing You"), relaxed ("September Song") to dramatic ("When the World Was Young"), Stordahl's treatments blush with natural ease and instinct, setting up Sinatra for countless moments of sublime beauty. Vocal pop aficionados, you don't want to miss this classic.

Blonde On Blonde (Box Set)Ranked 9/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
That Thin, That Wild Mercury Sound: Dylans Ground-Shaking 1966 Double LP Sent Tremors Throughout the World
Wider Grooves, Superior Sound: Mobile Fidelitys 45RPM Edition The Last Word in Analog Fidelity
Recorded With One of The Most Ear-Awakening Lineups Ever Assembled: Al Kooper, Pig Robbins, Joe South, Kenny Buttrey, and The Bands Rick Danko and Robbie Robertson Among Musicians
Vaudeville, Contemporary Pop, Fiery Rock and Roll, Memphis Blues, Folk-Derived Sagas Among Enriched Palette of Styles
Blonde on Blonde: A double album that transcends time, defies space, suspends reality, and looks through the human soul and tells the listener characteristics about themselves they didnt know. Professor Sean Wilentz, historian-in-residence for Bob Dylans Web site, comes as close to summing up its brilliance in his superb Bob Dylan In America as any whove tried: The songs are rich meditations on desire, frailty, promises, boredom, hurt, envy, connections, missed connections, paranoia, and transcendent beautyin short, the lures and snare of love, stock themes of rock and pop music, but written with a powerful literary imagination and played out in a pop netherworld. No lie.
As part of its Bob Dylan catalog restoration series, Mobile Fidelity is thoroughly humbled to have the privilege of mastering the iconic LP from the original master tapes and pressing it on 45RPM LPs at RTI. The end result is the very finest, most transparent analog edition of Blonde on Blonde ever produced. Forever renowned for what the Bard deemed that thin, that wild mercury sound, the albums famed aural character lives and breathes on this superb version, with wider and deeper grooves affording playback of previously buried information and lifelike presentation of the studio sessions.
Forever prized for a unique sound that cultural critic Greil Marcus tagged the most glamorous record imaginable; listening you [can] see the checkered jesters suit Dylan had worn on stage for the nine previous, furious months, Blonde on Blonde is to music, production, prose, and performance as what hydrogen is to water. The secret to its inimitable aural character partially stems from Dylans request in Nashville to producer Bob Johnston to remove the baffles from the studio room, allowing the musicians to interact as well as the music to assume a more organic quality that drifts from one microphone to another. Mobile Fidelitys reissue captures this ensemble ambience, with echoes, resonation, and some of the most natural timbres youll ever hear in plain sight.
The story of Blonde on Blonde is almost as compelling as the music within. Dylan, frustrated with how initial attempts fared in New York, relocating to Tennessee and pairing with Nashvilles top session players as well as members of what would become the Band, feverishly chasing perfectionism while also arriving at an on-the-fly feel that remains a reference point for recorded music. The Bard sweated over lyrics, demanded his band get the exact sounds he heard in his head, and limited most takes to a handful at most. A majority of songs were recorded long after midnight, the post-A.M. vibe reflected in the nocturnal aura, woozy optimism, inversion of intervals, and spiritual soulfulness of the playing.
As for the tunes? Chapters of books and lengthy theses are dedicated to the sheer conscious-altering power, mythical weight, character cast, and convention-obscuring magnetism of the lyricsto say nothing of the sophisticated albeit pure playing within, as arrangements touch upon gospel, R&B, pop, traditional and contemporary blues, vaudeville, folk, and more. Then theres Dylans inventive phrasing, his manipulation of pitch and locution, helping the narratives to take on epic, inchoate, and cryptic meanings that continue to be deciphered to this day. Punch lines occur as frequently as romantic declarations, all delivered with salient references, traditional parallels, and elusive interpretations on par with those of Shakespeare.

Given the sonic and artistic merit of this album, we anticipate huge demand.

What Is The Meaning Of What (Awaiting Repress)What Is The Meaning Of What is the third album from New York City psych-dance-rock stalwarts, Turing Machine, their first since the critically acclaimed Zwei was released on Frenchkiss Records way back in 2004. The extended hiatus was largely due to its members other projects, most notably drummer Jerry Fuchs' relentless rotation in virtually every live band within stone's throw of the DFA orbit, including but not limited to LCD Soundsystem, Maserati, Holy Ghost!, The Juan Maclean, !!!, MSTRKRFT and Massive Attack.
Shortly after Turing Machine began to work on what would become What Is The Meaning Of What, Fuchs tragically passed away. In his absence, guitarist Justin Chearno and bassist Scott DeSimon spent the better part of a year completing the album, with a little help from a plethora of friends, including Disappears vocalist Brian Case, and a host of musicians from the DFA roster, including Andrew Raposo and Caito Sanchez (both of Midnight Magic), Abe Seiferth, DJ McNany, and Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem).
What Is The Meaning Of What boasts an increased focus on the dance floor while maintaining the adrenalin-fueled psychedelic post-punk fetishism that is the heart of Turing Machine. Propelled by Fuchs' unrelenting grooves and bubbling with layer upon layer of hypnotic riffs and driving synths, the album locks in and refuses to let go for its 40-minute duration.1. Yeah, C'mon!
