    Alien (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Mondo is proud to present Jerry Goldsmith's score to Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece, Alien. An absolute essential soundtrack for not only fans of the franchise, but of the legendary composer, and of science fiction and horror cinema itself. There is no doubt Alien is a monumental achievement in movie making, it's tense, terrifying and pretty damn untouchable. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is an absolute masterclass in building tension and scaring the hell out of you within the film but it also is a beautifully orchestrated stand alone listen full of excitement that harks back to many of the rollicking adventure scores of the 40s & 50s.

    Alien: Covenant Soundtrack

Alien: Covenant is a science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator) which stars Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston. The film, a sequel to 2012's Prometheus and the sixth in the Alien film series, follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant as they discovered the ruins of the doomed Prometheus expedition on a remote planet. The world soon reveals itself to be inhabited by dangerous creatures that force the crew into a fight for survival. The original score to Alien: Covenant was written by Australian composer Jed Kurzel (The Babadook, Macbeth). Inspired by elements of the original Alien score, Kurzel's work invokes feelings of isolation and abject horror in the face of an unavoidable mounting catastrophe.

    Stay Hungry

Stay Hungry is the third album by Hard Rock band Twisted Sister, released in 1984. The album features the band's two biggest hits, We're Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock. It also features the power ballad The Price.

It was the irrefutable menace of tracks like The Beast, S.M.F. and the massive Burn In Hell that connected with their loyal fans and displayed Twisted Sister's true power. Ironically, the album's very mainstream appeal would alienate their core Heavy Metal fan base and spell the band's overexposure-induced fall from grace, but for this brief moment, Twisted Sister were truly the talk of the town.

With Stay Hungry the New York Hard Rock veterans finally hit it out of the park. Having paid their dues on the tough as nails N.Y.C. club scene, Twisted Sister had finally worn down the opposition and truly arrived.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Arrival stars Amy Adams as Louise Banks, an expert linguist hired by the government to communicate with alien intelligence after a fleet of spacecraft ominously appears at sites around the globe. Following his Oscar-nominated score for Villeneuve's Sicario, Jóhann Jóhannsson composed and produced this unique sci-fi film's soundtrack, praised by TIME Magazine for being "so integral to the images that it may as well be their heartbeat."

    Surfing With The Alien

Joe Satriani is one of the world's best and most well-known guitarists. Early in his career, Satriani worked as a guitar instructor, and among his students were now famous guitarists Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Charlie Hunter and Alex Skolnick. He himself is influenced by blues-rock guitar icons such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore and Jeff Beck. Satriani worked with a range of musicians from several musical genres, including Mick Jagger, Deep Purple, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, Brian May, Patrick Rondat, Paul Gilbert, Adrian Legg, and Robert Fripp. He is currently the lead guitarist for the supergroup Chickenfoot.

'Surfing with the Alien' is Satriani's second album, released in 1987 and meant his breakthrough to a larger audience. It was the first instrumental rock record to enter the charts in a very long time. Although the album contains fast and complex songs as well as slower, melodic songs Satriani's unique style is always easily recognizable.

    Alien Lanes

Originally released in 1995 on Matador Records, their first for the label, Alien Lanes is the 8th overall full-length from lo-fi legends Guided By Voices. One of the band's most popular, Alien Lanes makes an art out of pairing anthemic hooks with muscular and melodic rock 'n' roll guitars, almost exclusively accomplished here in brief blazes of brilliance and beauty.

I Thought I Was An Alien

When people ask me what kind of music I do, says Soko, I usually tell them - Punk secrets. Intimate, lo-fi, crazy, sexy, funny, tear-stained, heartbreaking, often all at once, the explosive Frenchwoman's songs have already touched people around the world, earning her a massive global following. Since her teens, Soko has been on a roller coaster journey. From a stockpile of over 100 songs, she finally whitteld down to a selection of 14, her debut album, which premiered in Europe last year and now will be released in the United States. When she sings of a rootless existence, always sadly moving on with her suitcase and her guitar, you know that this is her existence - and it really is. I'm just a homeless gypsy couch-surfer citizen of the world, depending on the love and charity of my friends, she giggles. After such a long and soul-searching evolution, I Thought I Was An Alien finally introduces a truly singular talent, at her point of fruition.

Like Some Kind Of Alien Invasion

With a musical career spanning more than thirty-five years, guitarist, sonic innovator, and two time Grammy nominee Tim Reynolds is known for his masterful command of melody and timing and for his uncanny ability to improvise on any instrument he touches. Having explored most musical styles, from rock, jazz and blues to classical and reggae, Reynolds' wide-ranging musical versatility is evident each time he picks up his electric or acoustic guitar. Technically brilliant, yet emotionally honest, Reynolds' music is inspired and authentic.

It was in the mid 1980s in Charlottesville, VA, when Reynolds founded his breakthrough electric power trio, TR3 (Tim Reynolds 3), known for their fusion of funk, rock, and jazz. He toured with TR3 during the 1980s and 1990s, using a rotating cast of musicians. It was at this time that he befriended Dave Matthews and their ongoing musical collaboration began. Tim eventually decided to relocate to Santa Fe, NM, and pursue a solo career. His musical progression continued throughout his many years on the road as a solo guitar wizard, playing for packed houses and to crowds who quickly determined that Reynolds is one of the most talented and thoughtful musicians on the circuit today. After a number of years in New Mexico, Reynolds relocated to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2007. After a chance meeting with two talented musicians, bass player
Mick Vaughn and drummer Dan Martier, a few rehearsals later and several stealth appearances throughout North Carolina, Reynolds decided to resurrect the electric TR3 and they've been touring ever since.

    Take Whatever You Want

Emily Estefan's upcoming debut LP, Take Whatever You Want, is set to release in 2017 via RED Distribution and her own label, Alien Shrimp Records.

About the album, Estefan says, "This album captures a very specific time and energy in my life. It tells a musical tale about a girl who grew up listening to a lot of different music. It's journey on which little by little I found myself."

Growing up surrounded by music, Emily naturally developed a deep passion for the craft at a very young age. That passion grew as she did. Through hard work and dedication, she graduated from Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music in May 2016, earning a degree in contemporary writing and production.

    Dark Skies OST

The film "Dark Skies" is a world where the threat is not supernatural but alien in context. This powerful new score by Joseph Bishara, composer of "Insidious" and "The Conjuring" (in theaters this summer) sonically blends horror sensibilities with tense science fiction overtones as waves of static rise and swell to silent stops, unrecognizable sound manipulations soar while strings, winds, and crystal bowls hold open a reality that suggests the terrifying is also staggeringly fascinating.

    Why There Are Mountains

Barsuk Records is pleased to reissue Cymbals Eat Guitars' stunning debut Why There Are Mountains on vinyl. Originally self released in 2009, Why There Are Mountains seemed to appear out of nowhere to massive critical acclaim (partially thanks to Pitchfork bestowing the album with the much coveted Best New Music designation) and took the indie-rock world by storm. The band spent the following year and a half touring the world and sharing the stage with Los Campesinos!, The Thermals, The Flaming Lips, The Hold Steady and more before releasing their Barsuk debut Lenses Alien in 2011.

Earth To Echo is a heartwarming 2014 summer family adventure movie, telling the story of a bunch of young teenage friends whose lives are about to change. Their neighborhood is being destroyed by a highway construction project that is forcing their families to move away. But just two days before they must part ways, the boys begin receiving a strange series of signals on their phones.

Convinced something bigger is going on, they team set out to look for the source of their phone signals. What they discover is something beyond their wildest imaginations: a small alien who has become stranded on Earth. In need of their help, the four friends come together to protect the alien and help him find his way home. This journey, full of wonder and adventure, is their story, and their secret.

Echo is one of the most adorable characters you're going to see this year, with oodles of personality. The film has been shot in 'found footage' visual photography. From phones (which act as the robots eyes) to camcorders, all are utilised here with magnificent effect. The movie's young cast (Teo Halm, Astro and Resse Hartwig) are superb and with a solid chemistry between them and incredibly likeable personas, they will keep audiences stuck to their chairs.

It's grim, but strangely beautiful, a formula Rabit seems
to have nailed. - Resident Advisor

Featured in a 'Artists who will define 2014' list compiled
    by The Fader.

Over the past 2 years Rabit has developed a formidable reputation within the underground via a steady stream of acclaimed 12 releases and mixtapes. On an emotional level Baptizm is about having one's life thrown completely out of order and finding solace in an imagined world. Themes of destruction and regeneration dominate throughout as well as an ongoing obsession on the often-ugly clash between sexuality and religion. All in all 'Baptizm' finds Rabit continuing to feel out the parameters of his increasingly alien sonic world in a typically exciting fashion.

    Ender's Game Soundtrack

ENDER'S GAME Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Music Composed by Steve Jablonsky (The Transformers Trilogy, Pain & Gain, Battleship)

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer
Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the
International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is
recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing
himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command
School. Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save
    the human race.

Composer Steve Jablonsky, veteran of the Transformers franchise, creates the all-new musical world of Ender's Game.

    That's Harakiri

It isn't often an artist seems to materialize from nowhere with a sound so disinterested in following any conventional rules that it inspires equal measures bafflement and astonishment, but in 2012 with the release of the 'Unknown Vectors' EP, Milwaukee based producer Sd Laika did just that. Taking the already alien sounds of grime music as a starting off point and abrasively twisting them into something even more unknowable, Laika had developed a sound that defied any easy categorization. 2 years later Dummy Magazine would come to refer to this record as 'one of the most jaw-droppingly inventive debuts in recent memory and ought to be considered "the other 'Cold Mission'" (in reference to the highly acclaimed Logos LP from 2013)'. After 'Unknown Vectors' Sd Laika became something of a mystery, disappearing from the scene altogether leaving behind him a small, but hardcore cult fanbase convinced they'd glimpsed something very special in those 5 tracks. It was only in 2013 when Tri Angle approached Sd Laika that a new record began to take shape. This record would end up consisting of songs Sd Laika had recorded in 2011 and 2012, songs he'd convinced himself would never see the light of day. For various reasons it looked likely Unknown Vectors would wind up being Laika's one and only ever release, which is why we're so excited (and as huge fans, relieved) to announce the release of his debut album 'That's Harakari'.

    The Darkening Plain

Transmaniacon take the blueprint and soundworld laid down by Bloodrock, Mountain, Steppen-wolf, Blue Oyster Cult and Alice Cooper, and add a hefty slab of dark doom, hard riffs, punk atti-tude and stoner metal to ramp it up for the 21st century. The vibe is steeped in 70's rock, but the sound is definitely 'NOW' From the Sabbathian sludge of 'City Of Chaos' to the Dead Kennedy-esque 'An Eye For An Eye' and the stoner moves of 'Chasing The Insane' the album is shot through with twists and chock full of riffs. This is hard rock at its hardest and heaviest set against an expansive post apocalyptic backdrop. Nothing encapsulates the cinematic darkness more than the album opener, which grafts a progressive approach to hard rock and doom. 'Quintessence of Dust' is a 24 minute monolithic mindfuck of epic proportions, the now completed score to the still-born science fiction horror story possibly. An intense listen that features the spoken word talents of punk poet Lydia Lunch. 'Quintessence Of Dust' is a grim eco warning, a tale of alien invasion and payback time for a future Earth's corpulent consumer-ism, rampant waste and self centred greed. A hideous flesh and metal robot army, hybrid humans inadvertently created by man himself, invade, take over and consume the Earth Sleeve is by one of the real legends of horror, sci-fi and fantasy illustration, Ian Miller.

Blues: The Dark Paintings of Mark Rothko

Pressed On Pristine 150 Gram Vinyl By Quality Record Pressing In An Edition Of 800

"Blues: The 'Dark Paintings' of Mark Rothko" is one of Loren Connors'
most cherished and sought after albums. Originally released in a handmade
edition of around 300 copies on Connors' own St. Joan label in
January 1990 under the name Guitar Roberts -- this album has been
unavailable in any form until now.

At the time of its release, Connors was still an inscrutable guitarist
whose matchless and alien rendering of the blues was just gaining recognition
despite more than two dozen solo and collaborative releases
since 1978. Connors' classic, song-based "In Pittsburgh" had only been
available for three months when "Blues" welcomed the new decade. It
would be the first of four solo albums issued by Connors that year and
distilled the blues form into bleak, minimalist lines and tone; a compound
of influences spanning Louisiana guitarist Robert Pete Johnson
    to painter Mark Rothko.

For this reissue, the audio has been restored to Connors' specifications
of how these seven instrumentals were originally intended to sound.
Cover art is an untitled 1969 Rothko work -- one of the paintings that
influenced Connors to record this album. The original LP art and liner
notes are replicated as a full-color inner sleeve. New liner notes by music
historian Byron Coley chart Connors development and Rothko's effect
on the music. Pressed on pristine 150 gram vinyl by Quality Record
Pressing in an edition of 800.

    Young Prayer

Noah Lennox, a.k.a. Panda Bear, a.k.a. one-fourth of the founding members of Animal Collective, has had a far-from-quiet few years since the release of his fourth solo record, 2011's Tomboy. Since the breakout success of 2007's universally-adored Person Pitch, each new Panda Bear release is a highly anticipated event, and with a high-profile Daft Punk collaboration later, that's more the case than ever. But if the title of his fifth solo album as Panda Bear seems to portend certain doom, think again. Taking his inspiration from '70s dub duo albums like King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown and Augustus Pablo Meets Lee Perry & the Wailers Band, Panda Bear prefers to frame his latest work as less of a battle and more a collaboration. "I see it [as] more comicbooky, a little more lighthearted," he says. "Like Alien Vs. Predator." Young Prayer is the second full-length solo album by Panda Bear. It was recorded in Panda Bear's childhood home in 2002 by Deakin and further produced by the mysterious Animal Collective brothers known as Come Winter. It was originally released in 2004 on Paw Tracks as PAW2.
