Musically, there are bits of The Stone Roses, What's The Story Morning Glory, and Nevermind. As catchy as those reference points are, it's the songwriting that has won the band a fiercely dedicated following; a mix of the observational storytelling of Davies and Weller crossed with the harsher documentary eye of Mike Skinner of The Streets and Ghost Town era Specials. Two #1 UK singles. Press already lined up with Rolling Stone, Spin, Entertainment Weekly, and Interview, to name a few. Three more US/Canadian tours planned for this year, including headlining Domino's label showcase at SXSW.

Disco was at the height of its popularity in 1979, when Earth, Wind & Fire responded with its most disco-influenced single ever, the glossy and infectious Boogie Wonderland. Up to that point, EWF had pretty much ignored disco, and when the band finally acknowledged the style, the soulsters weren't about to inundate listeners with it. Boogie Wonderland (which features the Emotions, a female group for whom Maurice White had been producing major hits) isn't representative of I Am on the whole. From the hit ballad After the Love Has Gone to the exuberant Let My Feelings Flow, I Am is a rewarding album that has a lot going for it!

Nas' I AM was his third studio album release and proved his reputation of one hip-hop's leading rappers. His strong lyrics are heard on tracks like Small World and Favor for a Favor featuring Scarface of the Ghetto Boys. The original material of the album was leaked onto the internet and this forced him to record completely new material.

The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and was certified Double Platinum in the USA. In the US Nas' had chart success with tracks Nas Is Like, Hate Me Now and You Won't See Me Tonight featuring Aaliyah. The production on this album is solid and stands up, even to this day.

    How Glad I Am

Nancy Wilson was one of the biggest stars of the 1960s; until the Beatles came along, she was the biggest-selling artist on the Capitol Records roster. The title track of the singles collection How Glad I Am was Wilson's biggest hit of the era and won a Grammy in 1964. While How Glad I Am is a tart, country-flavored soul number, the album also features Wilson doing vocal pop, jazz-blues (the juicy, Hammond B-3-filled West Coast Blues is the set's best number), R&B, and bossa nova. - Nick Dedina (AllMusic)

I Am the Cosmos is an enduring testament to the brilliance of Chris Bell; lyrically poignant and melodically stunning, this lone solo album is proof positive of his underappreciated pop mastery. While cuts like Get Away, I Got Kinda Lost, and Fight at the Table recall the glowing, energetic power pop of Bell's earlier work, the majority of the songs on I Am the Cosmos are more reflective and deeply personal; the title track is a harrowingly schizophrenic tale of romantic despair, while other cuts like the lurching Better Save Yourself and the lovely Look Up are infused with a spiritual power largely missing from his Big Star material.

The album's highlight, You and Your Sister -- which features backing vocals from none other than Bell's Big Star mate Alex Chilton -- is simply one of the great unknown love songs in the pop canon, a luminous and fragile ballad almost otherworldly in its beauty.

    I Am Gemini

I Am Gemini is the surreal and powerful musical tale of Cassius and Pollock, twin brothers separated at birth. One good and one evil, their unexpected reunion in a house that is not a home ignites a classic struggle for the soul, played out with a cast of supporting characters that includes a chorus of angels and devils, and twin sisters conjoined at the head.

Recorded in the Summer/Fall of 2011 at Omaha, NEs ARC Studios and mixed at Red Room in Seattle, WA with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus The Bear, Isis), I Am Gemini marks the first time front man Tim Kasher, holding the completed story already in mind, wrote album lyrics in a linear fashion, in order, from start to finish. The result is thirteen singularly cohesive song chapters that blend effortlessly into one unique narrative. The moody and playfully sinister I Am Gemini is Cursives musically heaviest in years, with alternately muscular and angular guitars, pounding drums and driving bass.

From the eerie introductory sounds of epic barnstormer This House Alive and the irresistibly catchy, insistent The Sun and Moon, to the searing Double Dead and the split personality prog-pop of Twin Dragon/Hello Skeleton, to the roaring, mournful closing track Eulogy for No Name, the album is a dynamic, mind-bending, and imaginative ride.

Cursive is the longtime trio of Tim Kasher (vocals, guitar), Matt Maginn (bass), and Ted Stevens (guitar, vocals), with Patrick Newbery (keys) and Cully Symington (drums). I Am Gemini, the bands seventh LP, is the follow-up to 2009s critically praised Mama, Im Swollen.

Clarity is coming. Once rumoured to be a guise of the elusive Jai Paul, producer Clarence Clarity re-emerges from the shadows with 'Who Am Eye' EP, a full year after he announced that he'd finished recording it. Patience is a virtue, though, and lead track 'Those Who Can't, Cheat' is a marvel - a skewed pop oddity full of Prince-style hooks and the occasional Bhangra breakdown. Up until now Clarence Clarity was an anonymous artist from London who sounds like Michael Jackson in a psychotic state. This is the way that Jackson's zombie character in 'Thriller' would have sounded like if he had his own career.

    I Am Very Far

The goal was to push my brain to places it didnt want to go. The idea was to not have any idea, to keep myself confused about what I was doing, frontman Will Sheff says about Okkervil Rivers newest album. The resulting record, I Am Very Far, is a startling break from anything this band has done before. By turns terrifying and joyous, violent and serene, grotesque and romantic, its a celebration of forces beyond our control.

On I AmVery Far, Sheff emerges not only as a songwriter of the highest caliber, but a producer and arranger of singular vision. Abandoning the tidy conceptual arcs of Okkervil Rivers previous albums, I Am Very Far is a monolithic, darkly ambiguous work, one that doesnt readily offer up its secrets.

Work on I Am Very Far started in early 2009, after a year spent on the music of others. Sheff contributed vocals to The New Pornographers album Together, wrote a song for Norah Jones The Fall, and helmed the Roky Erickson record True Love Cast Out All Evil, for which his album notes received a Grammy nomination. Immediately upon wrapping up work and leaving Ericksons company, Sheff drove to his home state of New Hampshire for lengthy isolated writing sessions. I wanted to go back home and re-start writing again, like Id never written a song previously, he says, and I wanted the music and lyrics to be both completely wedded together and a little bit beyond my control.

Sheff emerged from the writing process with 30 or so songs, which he narrowed down to 18. In contrast to Okkervil Rivers usual practice of holing up in one studio for months on end, he opted for a series of short, high-intensity sessions, each in a different location, each employing completely different methods than the one before it. For songs like Rider and Wake and Be Fine, Sheff gathered together a massive version of Okkervil River; two drummers, two pianists, two bassists, and seven guitarists, all playing live in one room, and led them on a week of live-in-the-studio marathon sessions, performing a single song obsessively over and over for as many as 12 hours to capture just the right take. Finishing the record from home, Sheff constantly edited and reworked the album, reinventing the song structures, re-recording vocals, re-writing until the very last minute, reshaping even the tiniest of details, ultimately creating an album that plays not only as a lush, seamless epic, but also as the most deeply personal effort of his career.

What can listeners expect? Richer and weirder than The Stage Names and deeper and moodier than even Black Sheep Boy, I Am Very Far is dense, fragmented, opaque. A reverie of uncertainty, it feels at once disorienting and oddly familiar, threatening and friendly. Okkervil River have thrown away all maps and compasses but they continue to chart their way, unblinking, toward destinations unknown.

    What Am I Doing

Debut Album From This Brooklyn Band

Album Produced By Annabel Alpers Of Bachelorette (Drag City)

Mixed By Adam Cooke (Beach House / Double Dagger)

Lushes are a band born of tensions - between art and math,
order and chaos, planning and chance. You can hear it in their
songs - taut, twitching art-punk that balance anxiety and elation,
often within the space of a few bars. Album opener Harsh glides
along slowly, feeling like a moody and measured art-rock
meditation until you zero in on the words in the chorus: Harsh on
my ears, that's the way I like it. This is push-pull music, songs
that temper the jagged fitfulness of groups like June of 44 and
Slint with the soft-focus sweetness and open-ended song
structures of The Sea & Cake and The Notwist.

That moods so diametrically opposed can peacefully coexist is
part of Lushes mystery and allure. That duality extends to the
group's background. James Ardery and Joel Myers were living in
worlds far removed from music, both working day jobs that
neither of them enjoyed. Their personalities were different -
James was outspoken and gregarious, Joel introverted and
reserved. Their musical backgrounds were different: James grew
up pillaging his father's record collection, getting turned on to
Nirvana and Wu-Tang Clan by his older brother and attending
hardcore shows by pioneering bands like Fugazi at 12 years old.
Joel was formally trained, loving classical music but almost
completely oblivious to rock and pop. The fusion of their disparate
influences is what animates Lushes - the anarchy of punk and
hardcore colliding with the precision of jazz to create music that is
marvelously ordered while still feeling seconds away from
detonation. That tension pulses throughout What Am I Doing, the
group's warring influences making for music that feels brittle and
    vital.

    Here I Am

Marquise Knox is a once-in-a-generation type of talent. And, man, are traditional blues lovers lucky he's decided to pursue straight-up real blues. Marquise has the voice, the songwriting talent, the guitar chops, the showmanship and the determination to very likely be a success in any number of styles of music. But for Marquise, it's nothing but the blues. Not the guitar hero, pyrotechnic licks blues. Not the gimmicky, tired, Sweet Home Chicago meets Mustang Sally predictable blues. No, Marquise almost seems to be literally channeling the certain-something energies and nuances of a Howlin' Wolf or Muddy Waters or Lightnin' Hopkins. In fact, when you listen to Marquise - 19 years old when he recorded this title - you get the sense that this is what those masters must have sounded like as young men. Marquise's blues are so transparent and bare. It's so easy to feel his music as totally legitimate. That's above all what makes it so appealing. That's what makes Marquise Knox special. He's the whole package. A throwback blues master on the rise. Anybody believe in reincarnation?

As you'd expect from somebody still so young, Marquise's talents have matured immeasurably since his 2009 APO debut, Man Child, recorded when he was 16. And that was a really good record. On Man Child, Marquise shared the guitar duties with Michael Burks, a fiercely explosive and powerful guitarist. For his new record, Marquise doesn't need the guitar help, and Here I Am doesn't want for even a little power and punch. Marquise's guitar skills have improved tenfold. Seriously. And his voice is, well, three years richer. To say that this record sounds unlike anything any other 19 year old is releasing in 2011 is indisputable. To say that it may be unlike anything anybody is releasing in 2011 might also be true.

When Man Child hit the market in 2009, blues lovers freaked out partly because of how young Marquise was to be sounding like such an aged veteran. Well, he's still awfully young, but this time around, the focus ought to be entirely on just how incredible a bluesman Marquise Knox is, age aside.

In a career laden with highlights and hallmarks in the annals of soul history, 'Just As I Am' is rather overlooked as one of the best soul debuts ever issued. Beautifully remastered, 'Just as I Am' is presented to a new generation of listeners who may have missed out the first time.

With this remastering comes an intimacy, warmth, and immediacy to the recordings that was only hinted at with previous versions; it's almost as if Withers is in a living room singing to a small group of people, rather than making a record.

Of course, the instantly recognizable anthem Ain't No Sunshine gets all of the acclaim it so richly deserves, but also in tracks like Harlem, Grandma's Hands and Better Off Dead you can hear the intensity and maturity of Bill's performances.
Even when he's doing covers, Withers makes them sound as if they are his own compositions.

Chicago Bluesman Willie Dixon was perhaps best known for his songwriting. He wrote or co-wrote over 500 songs and his songs have been recorded by some of the best-known blues musicians of his era, including Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, and Buddy Guy.

Later, his songs were popularized by groups, such as The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Cream, and Led Zeppelin, whose Whole Lotta Love was loosely based don Dixon´s You Need Love. On this 1970 LP, the quintessential blues songwriter performs his own tunes - every one a classic: I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man, The Little Red Rooster, Spoonful and of course Back Door Man to name a few!

Long overdue, the album was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1986, whereas Willie Dixon was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

    I Am All Your Own

Ilyas' music is in service to dream investigation, at once still and impermanent as an August cloud and then sweeping like a strange breeze through your thoughts. I Am All Your Own will wrap you in serenity but is aware that any second now you may escape. Music of a sweet morning, and unforgettable." - Thurston Moore, London

Ilyas Ahmeds songs exist in a sublime moment of suspended animation, calmly dwelling in between modes of music making both timeless and contemporary - deeply imbued with stillness and peace. On I Am All Your Own, his first album in three years, Ahmed employs strategies gleaned from experimental and ambient musicians, such as Lawrence English and Fripp & Eno, and applies them to song-based guitar music. Building slowly and purposefully, each individual track adds to the albums overall, scrupulously-forged contour. His most direct work, Ahmed's voice is brought to the fore and unobscured. Like the best work of his friend and collaborator Liz Harris (Grouper), as well as classic touchstones such as the Velvet Undergrounds self-titled third album and David Crosbys "If I Could Only Remember My Name," Ahmed's latest is sentimental and emotive, while remaining hushed and understated. I Am All Your Own is a record for late nights and early mornings, those times spent in solitude and reflection.

Written and recorded entirely on 12-string and electric guitars, I Am All Your Own was recorded using a 4-track cassette recorder with few overdubs and mixed to ¼ inch tape, exuding intimacy and homespun atmosphere. An impressive balance lies between the lush atmospherics he conjures and the sparse arrangements of the songs themselves. As the LP unfolds, a narrative also begins to take shape: the protagonists begin their day peacefully after a long night, they come to a realization that the events of the previous night will change their life forever, and eventually dissolve into a states of regret and eventually acceptance. The guitar-based tracks are interspersed with two untitled interludes of heavy drone and celestial drift - a reminder of Ahmeds days as a key, and prolific, figure in the international experimental underground of the past decade. However, even these emanate a clarity that is new to Ahmeds work, and which makes I Am All Your Own seem like the opening of a new chapter of his career.

Born in Pakistan, Ahmed moved to America at a young age and wandered throughout his teenage years, eventually settling in his current home of Portland, OR. The songs on I Am All Your Own were thoroughly tested in front of live audiences in the Pacific Northwest and at the venerable Hopscotch Festival in North Carolina before being laid to tape in Portland, then mixed at Old Standard Sound. Concurrently with writing and recording I Am All Your Own, Ahmed has been working with Jonathan Seilaff and Matt Carlson of Golden Retriever on a new project called Dreamboat. Ahmed will tour extensively behind I Am All Your Own, a rare treat indeed.

    I Am A Bird Now

This second full-length features contributions from both Antony's peers (Rufus Wainwright, Devendra Banhart) and heroes (Lou Reed, Boy George). Their involvement reflects both their admiration for Antony and his unique place in the contemporary arts community. Reed asked Antony to perform as part of the small ensemble on Reed's American and European tours, and he gave Antony a solo turn on the Velvet Underground classic Candy Says, an homage to another one of Antony's inspirations, Andy Warhol. In fact, the image adorning the cover of this album is Peter Hujar's striking 1974 photo, Candy Darling On Her Deathbed. Like some unsettling ghost relative of Jeff Buckley and Billie Holiday singing for all the fallen, this is tough, honest, uncompromising beauty and the next great voice in music - Mojo. If a great voice is often said to be an instrument, Antony's is a near orchestra, carrying extremes of emotion, great waves of suffering, tragedy, redemption, and joy - Metro. Look for a full US tour this fall.

I Am a Problem: Mind in Pieces

Having eschewed the "noise" moniker to describe their sound in favor of the self-proclaimed "Trip Metal", Wolf Eyes are at the forefront of a wide-ranging, experimental, impossible-to-categorize world. With over 500 releases since their inception in 1997, the group has been lauded by Thurston Moore, Henry Rollins and countless other stoned basement malcontents.

With previous full-lengths on labels like Sub Pop and Troubleman, I Am a Problem: Mind in Pieces is their debut release for Third Man Records and signals an ever-so-slight shift with the appearance of guitar and even drums. I Am a Problem is as much a classic Wolf Eyes record as no one would've ever predicted such a pulverizing left-turn at this juncture of their career. This is social audio dissent.

While it's difficult for any artist to find and gain success, the real struggle comes with
sustaining it. Silverstein are one of those rare artists that have found a way to stand the
test of time. Their formula is no secret: they have been going at full speed, nonstop for
the past 15 years. They've taken no breaks between touring and recording, and have
consistently produced quality albums and played sold out shows across the world.

Since their inception, they've played over 1,700 shows and sold over 1 million albums.
The band's most recent headline tour resulted in 90% sell out business, while playing
1,000 capacity venues in 40 US major markets. Silverstein will also be appearing on
the entire 2015 Vans Warped Tour, proving that the band's relevance is still thriving.
Silverstein's newest album, "I Am Alive In Everything I Touch," is one of the band's
strongest albums to date. These 12 songs are each uniquely crafted to showcase the
band's signature mixture of emotional screams and soaring melodies. Every band
writes one record that truly captures their essence and shows what they are about. It is
the album immediately recommended when discovering a band's discography. This is
    Silverstein's trademark album.

"I Am Alive In Everything I Touch" is a timeless album. This is Silverstein at the top of
their game, and they are proving that after 15 years of continued success, they can
