Andrew W.K. will release his first new album since 2009, You're Not Alone. W.K. said of the album: "I'm going for the sound of pure, unadulterated power; every emotion, every thought, every experience, every sensation, every fear, every joy, every clarity, every confusion, every up, every down... all extruded and concentrated into one thick syrup of super life-force feeling, and then psychically amplified by the celebratory spirit of glorious partying."

Live At Andrew's House (Awaiting Repress)

Live At Andrew's House was recorded at Carnegie Hall on November 11, 2011, four months before Burr taped his third hour-long special, You People Are All The Same, on March 3, 2012. The album gives fans the opportunity to experience a landmark performance in Burr's career and the early workings of a set that became Burr's critically-acclaimed third special.

"As a stand-up comedian, to get to perform at Carnegie Hall is a milestone; so when I found out that I got that gig I knew I wanted to document the performance. Most of the material on this album is the same material that eventually became the special You People Are All The Same and I didn't want to screw over people by putting out two DVD's with similar material. So this is a special release of that performance that will be on vinyl only.

The Anthology Surf Archive series proudly presents the twentieth anniversary edition of the soundtrack to Andrew Kidman's groundbreaking 1996 film, Litmus. Contributions from Galaxie 500, Yothu Yindi and The Screaming Orphans accompanied by a distinctly 90s slacker score from Kidman's The Val Dusty Experiment have earned the soundtrack a mythos within and outside of the surf circuit.

Things Are Really Great Here, Sort Of...

Things are Really Great Here, Sort Of .... is the latest self release by Andrew Bird, consisting of his versions of songs by a band he has loved for many years, The Handsome Family. The Handsome Family is husband and wife duo Brett and Rennie Sparks, who have collaborated as a couple for more than 20 years. Bird,
who has long been a fan and first covered their track "Don't Be Scared" in 2003, toured with the band last fall and was inspired to begin working on this collection. Things are Really Great Here, Sort Of... includes an updated rendition of fan favorite "Don't Be Scared," along with "Far From Any Road," the main title theme
song for the HBO series True Detective. Along with his band, The Hands of Glory (featuring Tift Merritt, Alan Hampton, and Eric Heywood), Andrew recorded these songs in May 2014 and released them a mere month later.

    Point Of Departure

Point Of Departure is not only one of the greatest jazz recordings of 1964, but of all time. The stellar lineup (Eric Dolphy, Kenny Dorham, Joe Henderson, Richard Davis and a teen aged Tony Williams) was given a set of challenging compositions by the brilliant pianist and composer Andrew Hill. This group created the album known as Point of Departure, an acknowledged modern day classic and one of Blue Notes most extraordinary recordings. Andrew Hill was a quiet revolutionary, but he was every bit as original in his conception as Thelonious Monk. Hill extended, twisted and turned hard bop into his own very fresh and personal music. Like Eric Dolphy, Hill spawned few imitators. His conception was so pure, and so unique, both as a player and as an arranger-composer that nearly a half century later, Point Of Departure remains a brilliant touchstone of modern jazz.

Following his 2010 effort, Moon Deluxe, the rock-and-roll musician Andrew Cedermark spent 2012 putting new songs to tape in an honest-to-goodness rock-and-roll recording studio. The smooth, deep groans of lunar gravity. Salt-soaked ropes swing against hollow masts. An orange helium balloon floats above the city's amber glow. Christmas Island

Christmas Island, the 5th album proper from Phoenix, Arizona's Andrew Jackson Jihad, is a little bit silly, a little bit serious. It's a
record that's irreverent yet somber, full of humor and full of pathos, its
twelve songs combining the two to create a record that truly cuts right
to the bone of the human condition. They've built a signicant cult
following since their inception in 2004, one that knows just how heart
breaking, heart warming, and inspiring their shambolic songs can be.
The tension between fury and forgiveness, between anger and calm,
between love and hate and life and death, isn't just thematic, but
weaved into in the sonic fabric of these songs. Christmas Island - it's
far from a random title, but it's also kind of a secret - is simultaneously
ridiculous and sublime in the way that Andrew Jackson Jihad always
have been. It's a record absolutely in keeping with their bold and
brilliant past - the one their cult following has been following for
years - but it's also a bold and brilliant step forward.

    Weather Systems

Described by Pitchfork in 2003 as "music for the ages that demands to be heard", the songs on Andrew Bird's second solo album reveal themselves at a confidant, unhurried pace reflecting the thoughtfulness with which they were conceived. Weather Systems originated in a barn converted to studio/living space in remote western Illinois, as creating music was becoming central to Bird's everyday life. The virtuoso instrumentalist employs violin, glockenspiel, organ, whistling, and tape loops to set the scene for the intimate, haunting stories he tells through his lyrics. It's a lush, gorgeous collection of seven original songs plus Bird's own adaptation of a Galway Kinnell poem and a Handsome Family cover "Don't Be Scared" (which Andrew recorded again on his 2014 covers album, 'Things Are Really Great Here Sort Of"), showcasing his gift for conveying subtle emotional states purely through music. Originally released in 2003, Weather Systems is now available on vinyl for the first time (150 gram/re-mastered for vinyl) through Wegawam Music with reimagined art by Jay Ryan.

    Litmus / Glass Love

As part Anthology Recordings' Surf Archive series, we celebrate the soundtracks to Andrew Kidman's classic 1996 film Litmus alongside his 2006 follow up Glass Love. By the early '90s, surfing was on an upswing in popularity as professional surfers became marketable athletes. The three-fin, high performance, "thruster" shortboard was the tool of choice, lending to a fast-paced slashing style and ultimately a more aggressive "surf and destroy" movement in board culture. Litmus, Andrew Kidman's first avant-garde surf film, served as a soulful reaction to the pop-punk progression that dominated the "alternative" mainstream. Prior to filming Litmus, Kidman's band, The Val Dusty Experiment, recorded a total of thirty-five songs in one day. The outcome of the "one-and-done sessions was a lo-fi, rustic, experimental rock 'n' roll sound, adding a rough-around-the-edges ambiance to the surf scenes that span Ireland, Australia, California, and South Africa. Additional contributions from Galaxie 500, Yothu Yindi and The Screaming Orphans diversify the score. Litmus was a defining moment in surf filmmaking -- it sparked an open-minded retro-progressive movement as surfers formed a higher consciousness about the types of boards they were riding and why. Kidman released his second film, Glass Love, ten years later. As with Litmus, the music came first; Kidman felt his songwriting was ready to take on a new life. Thanks in part to Litmus, experimentation in board design progressed as surfers became more contemplative, questioning, 'is surfing art or sport?' Glass Love and its soundtrack highlights this mindset and time period, creating an extra dimension to surfing that is still prevalent today.

    Are You Serious (Awaiting Repress)

Andrew Bird has always been highly respected and has held a captive audience with his story telling prowess, but it's with his new album, Are You Serious, that he has made a breakthrough record. Coming out via his new label home, Loma Vista Recordings (Spoon, St. Vincent, HEALTH), and produced by Tony Berg, the album propels him into a new category of American songwriters. It's his most direct lyrically to date with key contributions from Fiona Apple and Blake Mills.

Three years ago while traveling west to California to start a new life with his wife and young child they stopped at the family farm in rural Illinois for two weeks to catch their breath. The previous two years had been intense to say the least: raising a child in New York City as his wife battled a serious illness. With these dark days behind them he spent the next seven days on the front porch writing the lyrics for what became Are You Serious. It's a breakthrough for him in that it gets to the quick of the matter. This is the record he needed to make right now and is certain to put him in the leading class of American songwriter.

The album was put together with a rigor akin to a novelist or playwright and musically crafted like a wrecking crew session where you have to be good right in that moment. There's little folksy quaintness or whimsical flights of fancy. There's less wordplay and more intent to process some difficult times that he went through. From the album art, created by the godfather of conceptual art John Baldessari to foregoing his traditional writing process, Bird has emerged from challenging times and a new process with an album that may be his best.

The first single Capsized" begins to take you down the path that Bird so carefully crafted on the record, speaking from an unguarded point of view while keeping with the melodic, syntactic standards that he has held true to since the beginning of his career.

    Zombies On Broadway

I wrote this album in the middle of a whirlwind, when the future was unclear. Isn't it always? I found my way to the city, thinking I could settle a score with a ghost. You can't, so I came home and rewrote the ending. I'm proud announce my new album, "Zombies on Broadway." I spent more than a year hoping to find new answers to old questions. Whiplash Soundtrack

Andrew Neyman is a 19-year-old jazz drummer, dreaming of greatness but unsure if his dream will ever come true. Haunted by the failed writing career of his father, Andrew is determined to rise to the top of the country's most elite music conservatory. One night, Terence Fletcher (J.K. Simmons), a conductor equally known for his talent for teaching as he is for the terrifying method of his instruction, discovers Andrew practicing the drums. Even though Fletcher says very little to him that night, he ignites in Andrew a passion to achieve his goal. To Andrew's surprise, the next day, Fletcher requests that he be transferred into his band. This single act changes the young man's life forever.
