Live At The End Of A Century

Art of Noise were an avant-garde synthpop group formed in early 1983 by engineer/producer Gary Langan, programmer J.J. Jeczalik, arranger Anne Dudley, producer Trevor Horn, and music journalist Paul Morley.

    Frankie Say Relax
Those three words in black letters on white oversized T-shirts persist as a main part of the imagery of the eighties. But even if you take away all the Malcolm McLaren-styled-marketing, Welcome To The Pleasuredome still stands out as one of the seminal records of the decade.

Produced by Trevor Horn (Art of Noise, The Buggles and briefly YES), it should. The sometimes over-the-top songs are interspersed with snippets of a Ronald Reagan impersonator and bombastic orchestral compositions. Put their most famous song 'Relax' in the middle of this and the song that created so much controversy when it was first released becomes a model of restraint. The irresistibly pounding yet simple bass line makes it as much a floor-filler today as it was in 1984.
The Orwellian 'Two Tribes', released at the height of the Cold War, still seems strangely poignant. 'The Power Of Love', the hyper-ballad that topped the British charts for a number of weeks, is still deliciously cheeky.

The re-mastering of this album will make your head spin and is the first that does the Trevor Horn production justice. As this is the first re-issue of the album on vinyl in 25 years, it's a damn good thing Music On Vinyl is releasing it on 180 grams audiophile vinyl!

    DragonFly Black & DragonFly Red

AudioQuest is truly pleased to introduce two dramatic
steps forward-two new DragonFlys with unprecedented
audio quality and even higher performance-to-cost ratios-and,
drum roll, they work with Apple and Android™ phones!
Yes, that last point is a biggie. From the day that the original
DragonFly came out, we got requests for a DragonFly-quality
DAC to use with smartphones. Finally, thanks to newly
available parts, power draw is now well within what any
    phone will authorize.

We've been busy for years making this new generation of
DragonFlys possible. AudioQuest worked alongside Microchip
    Technology to develop a new high-performance, full-speed
USB microcontroller (a DAC's input processor) that delivers
improved signal-to-noise ratio and significantly lower power
consumption. Drawing 77% less current than the DragonFly
v1.2's microcontroller, the new Microchip MX microcontroller
enables true compatibility with Apple and Android smartphones
and tablets. For use with Apple iOS devices, Apple's
Lightning-to-USB Camera Adaptor is required; for use with
Android devices, a Made for Android (OTG) adaptor, such as
our DragonTail USB Adaptor For Android Devices, is required.
We hesitate to brag about specific electronic parts in the
DragonFlys because the implementation of those parts is
as crucial as their quality. Please don't make the mistake of
thinking that DACs with the same microcontroller or primary
processor all sound alike! Depending on the circuit design,
control of noise, power supply regulation, quality of the many
passive parts, etc., a supposedly "lesser" DAC chip can easily
outperform a "better" DAC chip in a different DAC.

Also, as with cameras and their previous race to have more
pixels than the other guy, playing the numbers game can
distract and deceive. While the DAC chips in both the Black
and Red DragonFlys have great capability, we have chosen
to limit DragonFly Red and Black processing to 24-bit/96kHz.
This makes using the DragonFlys as simple as it's always been,
fully compatible with PCs, etc., without having to download
and install new drivers. Though maybe more importantly,
faster processing can mean more noise, so while playing
24/192 files with some of the best component DACs does offer
sonic advantages, many DACs actually sound better when
    the computer down-samples a 24/192 file to 24/96 before
sending the data to the DAC. Our point is that AudioQuest
plays a music-quality game first and foremost. DragonFlys
are designed to be the-best-they-can-be Emotional Transportation
for your music, whether Spotify, YouTube videos, Tidal,
ripped CDs, or state-of-the-art Hi-Res files.

Back to bragging about our internals: The new DragonFly
models also incorporate improved 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC
    chips-the 9010 in Black and the higher-performance 9016
in Red-both of which employ minimum-phase filtering for
naturally detailed, more authentic sound. While DragonFly
Black uses the same high-quality headphone amp and analog
volume control found in the DragonFly 1.2, DragonFly Red
includes the latest ESS headphone amp and a bit-perfect
digital volume control that resides on the 9016 DAC chip
itself-a sophisticated implementation that ensures maximum
fidelity, dynamic contrast, and signal-to-noise ratio.

Those of you who remember how we bragged about the
DragonFly v1.0 and v1.2 having an analog volume control
might now be going "huh?" Good question! It's a matter of
capabilities. The earlier DragonFlys and the Black feature
an analog volume control because that's a better-sounding
approach than most digital volume controls, which cut off
bits in order to reduce the volume. However, when a digital
volume control, as in the new DragonFly Red, doesn't
compromise the signal, doesn't reduce finesse and subtlety
and low-level detail, then a bit-perfect digital volume control
is superior. Once more, it's not about a particular part or
sample rate or buzz word-it's about honoring the quality of
the resulting sound above all else.

DragonFly Black outputs 1.2 volts-enough power to capably
drive all preamplifier input circuits and all reasonably
efficient headphones. Meanwhile, with its higher 2.1-volt
output, DragonFly Red is compatible with an even wider
range of headphones, including power-hungry, low-efficiency
models. For reference, DragonFly 1.0 and 1.2 featured
    1.8-volt output.

The difference in maximum output between DF Black and DF
Red is essentially irrelevant with our NightHawk headphones,
as they can be easily driven by either model, but Red's
higher output is an important advantage with some of the
more inefficient headphones on the market. However, the
difference in sound quality between the two new models
is always meaningful, and is important whether feeding
headphones or the Aux input of an audio system. At the same
volume, Red has much more "torque," "grip," and "muscle"
than Black. Red simply sounds cleaner and clearer overall,
enabling a larger soundstage with each instrument or voice
more nearly in its own space.

And, more good news: The new DragonFlys are software
upgradeable through complimentary Windows and OS X
desktop applications. As new developments arise in music
player applications, streaming protocols, or other associated
software, DragonFly users will be able to incorporate those
    updates into their existing devices.

DragonFly Black for only $99, with better sound than any
previous DragonFly for less money than any previous
DragonFly, and DragonFly Red with much better sound at
only $199-and both compatible with phones-how much
    good news can you stand?!

The Unlawful Trade of Greco-Roman Art

So Stressed initially began in Sacramento, CA as a largely
improvisational noise project that included the band's three
members (Morgan Fox, Andrew Garcia and Kenneth Draper).
Over time, the lineup was refined and their sound coalesced
into what's heard on The Unlawful Trade of Greco-Roman Art, a
technically meticulous but anxiety ridden and sometimes terrifying
cry which calls to mind everything from Q and Not U
to No Trend and the Minutemen. At times, Fox's lyrics bring to
mind the emotional distress and social reservation seen in Wire
    and Wall of Voodoo.

The fact that their sound is so violent and tense as to be physically
disarming is almost deceptive; the members of So Stressed
are kind, conscientious and smart young men. Writing this
album took more than two years (and recording took more than
six months) due to a common habit of throwing away fully-formed
songs deemed to be even slightly less than perfect. All
this was done with no goal in mind- if no one wanted to release
it, Fox says, "we were just going to delete it."

    Right From Real

"Like a fever dream of Julia Holter
    merging with Grimes, Ainsworth's future
    visions weave neoclassical flourishes and
    enchanted melody-mangles into cool 80's
    sound-beds, and it sounds fantastic."
    - Dazed

"These soundscapes can provide a myriad
    of emotion, from reassurance to
discomfort, anxiety to enthusiasm. [...] it's
an unexpected achievement for such a
young artist and a testament to the power
of music as a purely visceral force."
    - Portals

Composer / producer / singer Lydia Ainsworth has been secretly writing
and recording songs over the past three years from bedrooms and
basements between Toronto and Brooklyn. What began as pass-time
sketches between composing music for film and multimedia projects has
over time revealed an enchanting collection of experimental pop songs
with a life of their own.

Blurring the boundaries between indie music, filmic orchestration, and
electronic music, Lydia's debut "Right From Real" thrives on haunting
melodies and draws inspiration from a wide range of musical sources -
Verdi's Requiem, Ace of Base, Bulgarian Choirs, Bernard Herrmann, Tones
on Tail, Art of Noise to name a few. This sense of unexpected marriages
of influence flows throughout much of Lydia's work which features use of
voice sampling and string arrangements woven into a unique minimalist
    fabric.

    Miss E...So Addictive (Pre-Order)

After a long winter of discontent, So Addictive finds Missy Elliott hoping to initiate hip-hop's summer of love. Miss E's third album is dosed with feel-good flavor and has more guests than the VIP section of the hippest hip-hop hot spot. Buddies Method Man and Redman bark across the bridge of Dog in Heat's canine funk. Jay-Z and Ludacris feature on two different versions of One Minute Man's scathing soul. Synths tweak and creak in rhythm as Missy unleashes a dreamy diss of those hopeless suitors who unload their cargo before they've sparked her ignition. Take Away features Pony man Ginuwine on a hypnotic slow-burner heavily reminiscent of Art of Noise's Moments in Love.

When left to her own devices, as she is on Lick Shots (which jangles like Django Reinhardt on downers), Missy comes on like Schooly D, a fearless, female gangsta licking shots against anyone who dares cross her. On Scream a.k.a. Itchin' she breaks into a soprano. A 4/4 stomp is stamped indelibly across the ecstasy-holler song 4 My People (featuring Eve). Overall, it feels as if producer Timbaland has muted his experimental leanings on this outing with his favorite muse in favor of submersible club tracks. Musically, the bhangra beat bop of Get Ur Freak On is the standout. The spiral timing of Whatcha Gon' Do, the fret-skipping Slap! Slap Slap! (featuring Da Brat), and the sunken, drunken funk of the not-so-subtle X-hex X-Tasy are tied at a close second. -Chris Campion

    Endless Pain

Remastered Versions By Andy Pearce And Overseen By Mille Petrozza

    Featuring New Art

Packed With Rare Photos And Memorabilia And Notes By Mille And Malcolm Dome (Metal Hammer) Talking About The Creation Of The Albums

Contains Two Of The Band's Original Demos (Blitzkrieg [1983] & The Other End Of The World [1984]) From When They Were Still Known As Tormentor

Endless Pain was released in October 1985 by Noise Records. It was a savage debut; its crude thrashing quickly had the underground metal world abuzz with excitement. This album has been known to be viewed as a pivotal album to black metal bands that enjoy thrash metal elements, ultimately creating a thrash-influenced black metal sound. This version also contains the band's original demos when they were still known as Tormentor, one fittingly named Blitzkrieg (1983), and the other End of the World (1984). These fell into the hands of thousands of heavy metal fans engaging in the era's bustling underground tape-trading network. Positive word of mouth soon attracted the attention of Germany's own metal start-up, Noise Records, which signed the newly re-christened Kreator to a deal. This album presented in LP format contains remastered versions by Andy Pearce and overseen by Mille Petrozza. New art has been created packed with rare photos and memorabilia and notes by Mille and Malcolm Dome (Metal Hammer) talking about the creation of the albums.

Formed in Essen, Germany in 1982, Kreator is arguably the most influential and successful European thrash metal band ever, like many of their European speed metal brethren, Kreator fused Metallica's thrash innovations with Venom's proto-black metal imagery. Kreator has been referred to as one of the Big 4 of Teutonic thrash metal, and they are often credited with helping pioneer death metal and black metal by containing several elements of what was to become those genres. The band has achieved worldwide sales of over two million units for combined sales of all their albums, making them one of the best-selling German thrash metal bands of all time. Kreator's style has changed several times over the years, from a Venom-inspired speed metal sound, later moving into thrash metal, and including a period of transitioning from thrash to industrial metal and gothic metal throughout the 1990s. Wild child is an eclectic, six-piece band fueled by the songwriting chemistry
between co-founders Kelsey Wilson and Alexander Beggins. The band rose
up out of the Austin music scene with their self-release debut, Pillow Talk
(2010). Since then, Wild Child has made waves by scoring three #1's on
Hype Machine, and has earned a reputation for having explosive live shows
all without the use of electric guitars, or any guitar for that matter. Off the
heels of winning two Austin Music Awards, Wild Child reemerge in 2013
with a sparkly new album entitled The Runaround, plus a record deal

with the Austin boutique label, The Noise Company.
    For the making of The
Runaround, Wild Child enlisted indie rock nobleman, Ben Kweller, to sit
in the Producer's chair. Kweller was instrumental in harnessing the band's
youthful energy and combining it with their natural sense of nostalgia. All of
this makes for a timeless set that slams you in the arm with a pop injection
one minute and caresses your heart the next. The Runaround sees six
friends swagger happily through life, swaying to drunken horns and whistling
addictive hooks in your face. Together they march along to crisp, insistent
beats - hearts broken and chins up. Wild Child have proven they are a band
of uncommon character, placing art above all. It's nice to finally see a band
like this gain the adoration of a fan base growing faster than the click of a
    "Like" button.

    Pleasure To Kill

Remastered Versions By Andy Pearce And Overseen By Mille Petrozza

    Featuring New Art

Packed With Rare Photos And Memorabilia And Notes By Mille And Malcolm Dome (Metal Hammer) Talking About The Creation Of The Albums

Contains Kreator's Flag Of Hate EP

Pleasure To Kill, the second studio album by Kreator, was released in November 1986 originally by Noise Records. The lyrical themes follow those found on their first album. Unleashed in 1986 and still considered the band's first classic album, Pleasure to Kill raised the bar with more diversity of tempos and greater attention to technical execution while losing nothing in terms of ferocity or speed. The band closed out the year with the Flag of Hate EP (named after a re-recorded version of their earliest hit) which is included on this version. Many death metal bands cite this album as an influence. Pleasure To Kill is widely considered a thrash classic. It is also considered a landmark album in the history of thrash metal along with Master of Puppets by Metallica, Reign In Blood by Slayer and Darkness Descends by Dark Angel, all released in 1986.

1987's Terrible Certainty did nothing to dent the perception that Kreator was one of the genre's best bands, and for once, Petrozza had a little time to work out the songs beforehand. Kreator beefed up to a quartet once again with the addition of guitarist Jörge Trebziatowski. This version also contains the Out of the Dark... Into the Light EP which was originally released in 1988. The live tracks were recorded at Dynamo Club, Eindhoven, Netherlands, in 1988.

Packed With Rare Photos And Memorabilia And Notes By Mille And Malcolm Dome (Metal Hammer) Talking About The Creation Of The Albums

Contains A Show Recorded In Berlin In 1990 That Showcases The Band In Full Flight

The fourth album by Kreator, Extreme Aggression, was released in 1989. This album introduced many American fans to Kreator, primarily through heavy rotation of the Betrayer music video on MTV's Headbangers Ball, which was partly shot at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. On Extreme Aggression, Kreator closes the '80s by delivering their final thrash triumph with the most hallowed Kreator line-up joining forces once again to follow up the spectacular Terrible Certainty. The results are fierce and noisy on this 1989 Epic release. Extreme Aggression quickly became their biggest seller yet, and the subsequent North American tour with Suicidal Tendencies introduced the band to many new friends. This version contains a show recorded in Berlin in 1990 that showcases the band in full flight.

    Time To Go Home

Chastity belt is a rock band consisting of four friends - guitarists Julia Shapiro and Lydia Lund, bassist Annie Truscott, and drummer Gretchen Grimm. They met in a tiny college town in eastern Washington, but their story begins for real in Seattle, that celebrated home of Macklemore and the twelfth man. Following a post-grad summer apart, a handful of shows and enthusiastic responses from the city's diy community led them, as it has countless others, into a cramped practice space. They emerged with a debut album, No Regerts, sold it out faster than anyone involved thought possible, and toured America, a country that embraced them with open-ish arms. Now they're back and the tab is settled, the lights are out, the birds are making noise even though the sun isn't really up yet: it's time to go home, their second long-player and first for hardly art. In the outside world, they realized something crucial: they didn't have to play party songs now that their audience didn't consist exclusively of inebriated 18-22 year olds, as it did in that college town. Though still built on a foundation of post-post-punk energy, jagged rhythms, and instrumental moves that couldn't be anyone else's, the songs they grew into in the months that followed are equal parts street-level takedown and gray-skied melancholy. They embody the sensation of being caught in the center of a moment while floating directly above it; shapiro's world spins around her on on the floor, grounded by Grimm and Truscott's most commanding playing committed to tape. They pay tribute to writer Sheila Heti on drone and John Carpenter with the thing, and deliver a parallel-universe stoner anthem influenced by electrelane with joke. recorded by JosÉ Díaz Rohena at the unknown, a desecrated church and former sail factory in anacortes, and mixed with a cathedral's worth of reverb by Matthew Simms (guitarist for legendary british post-punks and one-time tourmates Wire), time to go home sees Chastity Belt take the nights out and bad parties of their past to their stretching points, watch the world around them break apart in anticipatory haze, and rebuild it in their own image with stunning clarity before anyone gets hungover.

AmpsandSound Products Are Handmade In Small Batches and Go Through Extensive Quality Control

The name Agartha used to describe a city in the center of the world. The ampsandsound Agartha brings the legendary 300b to personal audio. They chose the 300b for its long history as the king of triodes. Combining a single gain stage, zero feedback and careful attention to grounding techniques they are able to use a 300b with headphones without hum or noise. For those with headphone, horns or single driver speakers who are seeking audio nirvana, the Agartha is built with exacting attention to parts selection and implementation.

The Agartha tube amp pairs a 6SL7 tube for front end with SS rectification enabling great transient peeks, faster/livelier presentation and ultra-quite operation. The Agartha uses direct-heated triodes with zero feedback providing the classic single-ended sound so widely loved.

Typical of all ampsandsound amplifiers, the power supply is massive. This combined with a generous choke yields our trademark low noise; less than 3mv at idle, and stable output of 5 watts RMS into an 8ohm load and 1watt into a 32ohm headphone. Frequency response is 12hz to 30hz at 1 watts, 1-db. Output iron has been carefully selected to reduce distortion and increase frequency response. And of course we also use our 5% capacitors and 2% resistors.

The motivation of the Agartha is to provide access to the wide availability of NOS tubes and give the warm mid-range bloom that is at the heart of single-ended direct-heated triode designs. Tube set included.

    City Of Refuge

An uneasy, asymmetric weave of sung songs, chants, electronic noise solos, and spaghetti western guitar interludes. City Of Refuge suggests a film soundtrack; a narrative propelled by yearning, passion, dislocation, ambiguity, regret, redemption, cryptic symbolism, and other art film obligatories. This is not just music but emotional catharsis. Guest appearances by Jana Hunter, Sufjan Stevens, Dawn Smithson (Jessamine, Sunn O))))), Scot Tuma (Souled American, Boxhead Ensemble), and co-producer Ero Gray.
