    The Speed of Things

Detroit indie-pop duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. return with their sophomore album, The Speed Of Things via Warner Bros. Records. The follow-up to 2011s It's A Corporate World was self-produced and largely inspired by today's current internet-obsessed world. The new LP features 13 songs, including two we're already familiar with -If You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)andHiding- thanks to the band's Patterns EP released earlier this year.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is a Detroit-based recording and songwriting process created by Josh Epstein and Daniel Zott. It all started in 2009, after a chance encounter at one of Zott's shows. Recognizing musical genius when he hears it, Epstein sought Zott and embarked on a musical journey that would forever change the face of alternative pop. With the release of their first EP, Horsepower EP, DEJJ drew instant recognition from media critics who praised the duo as "an inspired mix of hip-hop and folk." Being noted as one of the 'best new bands' of 2010, DEJJ was quickly thrust into the spotlight, gaining them a growing fanbase for their 'psych-retro pop' style. Following the success of their first full-length album, It's a Corporate World, DEJJ has come back with a fresh new sound that will mark them as pioneers in the alt. pop world.

    Nasty, Brutish, and Short

Continually shot out of a cannon, PUJOL contorted through his latest flaming hoop with the recording and release of the EP Nasty, Brutish, and Short. Moving at the speed of the '60's, the EP becomes PUJOL's 10th release in less than two years after acclaimed singles, full lengths and EPs on Third Man, Infinity Cat, Evil Weevil, Jeffrey Drag, Turbo Time and Velocity of Sound. This year, PUJOL left SXSW with the opportunity to make records on a wider scale of release, and scrambled together a skeleton crew of Nashville musicians and friends, in between tours, to make the deadline for a fall release. PUJOL utilized his attitude of whatever works with whatever resources as the creative anchor for the recording of the EP, even to the point of mixing it via text message while on tour in Canada during a marathon back-and-forth between himself and Battletape's Jeremy Ferguson. Striving to turn these obstacles into creative opportunities, PUJOL sought to combine aspects of both home and studio recording into the sound of something that really happened. In his own words: The recording process reflects the material, it was basically done while hardcoremultitasking in between tours, school, previously booked sessions at Battletapes, and general life-madness. The process reflects the narrative and was recorded at the speed of my life, so it's the immediate sound of something that really happened, it wasn't made in a bubble, I can't yet afford such luxurious suds. Ride the Tiger, Holy Diver. Nasty, Brutish, and Short focuses on fragmentation, compartmentalization, and the idea of cultural maxims dominating the individual's ability to vocalize and interact with the external world, essentially being forced into speaking, what PUJOL calls, the loudest person's language, which only resembles truth because a lot of people heard it simultaneously. I wanted to stab at making a narrative that would cyclically feed back into itself, oscillating between the individual's and the cultural lexicon. I finally got to assemble those songs together on a single release. All throughout this unapologetically from-the-hip release, PUJOL marries a lyric of intent to the tune of the uncontrollable variables of a life in what he describes as, E-merican Realism that is sure to ensnare fans of rock and roll, as well as Rockwell.

    Exile On Coldharbour Lane

We live in a sick, sick world where every problem seems to be answered with a bomb and a band like ALL SAINTS get widespread respect. It's corrupted and mangled on every level; enough to make people turn to the church. Yet when that turns out to be nothing but a hotbed of hypocritical farce and unholy allegations, it's time for a new religion. Time for THE VERY REVEREND DOCTOR D WAYNE LOVE and his band, ALABAMA 3.

They spread their word via acid beats, bluesy harmonica and country sensibilities - and the word is Love. On 'Hypo Full Of Love (The 12-Step Plan)', a satire on a Minnesota rehabilitation programme, the Glaswegian D Wayne evangelises like he never set foot outside Texas: Make a searching inventory of all your good shit/Inventory taken you hand all that good shit over to me.

The whiskey-smooth vocals of LARRY LOVE - part cowboy and part pimp - are at their best on a cover of JOHN PRINE's 'Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness'. It's 'Mao Tse Tung Said', though, that's their finest moment, vicious in its attack of the 'change must come through the barrel of a gun' slogan and intrusively, intelligently insidious. Forget Jesus. All you need is Love. - -NME

The most-wanted audiophile design turntable with carbon tonearm, 3 speeds and DC power supply!

The new DEBUT CARBON ESPRIT SB (DC) has been designed to set new standards in this category for the coming decade - perfectly timed as analogue today is again a respected source, while the demand for good turntables with all speeds is growing fast!

The CARBON TUBE for the tonearm increases stiffness and decreases unwanted resonance. This material normally is extensively used in high end tonearms, but - because of cost reasons - was never used in products at lower price levels. Together with other improvements like an increase in platter size and weight to realize even smoother rotation, the overall sound quality is greatly improved.
The approved belt drive design offers low noise AC motor with effective motor decoupling (utilising TPE), ultra precision frequency DC-driven AC generator for ultimate speed stability.

Ultimate convenience is achieved, because of electronic speed change (Speed Box) and the possibility of playing 78rpm. A simple exchange of stylus to 2M78 (not included) and a drive belt turnover to larger diameter of pulley is required, that's all!

The First Cartridge Designed Specifically for VPI Tables

When two great minds like Harry Weisfeld of VPI and Peter Ledermann of Soundsmith get together, anything is possible. The result, in this case, is the VPI Zephyr by Soundsmith, the first cartridge to bear the VPI logo and the first cartridge optimized for all the unique parameters of VPI's JMW unipivot tonearms. The Zephyr is specifically designed to reduce azimuth smear, a distortion artifact created by unipivot tonearms and eccentric records.

The VPI Zephyr is incomparable when mounted to a VPI JMW tonearm. An extremely faithful tracker, the Zephyr suspension allows the tonearm to work its magic, revealing a whole new level of performance from the combination. The Zephyr's warm tonal balance clearly complements any VPI table, its ingenious construction matching VPI's own exceptional design.

"Peter Ledermann is one of the best cartridge designers, making some of the most musical cartridges in the world. I wanted a cartridge that sounded like his [$4,500] Sussuro to mate perfectly with the VPI Classic, both sonically and physically. Basically, I wanted the sound of the Sussuro at a much more reasonable price, built specifically for the Classic. The Zephyr fits the bill. It really sounds wonderful on the Classic. I set one up and it sounded incredible right away. It's a low compliance low output cartridge, with the smoothness of a reel to reel tape."

-- Harry Weisfeld, Owner and Lead Designer of VPI

A brilliant melding of technologies, the Zephyr is a hybrid design, with using the true elliptical stylus and lightweight aluminum cantilever from SSM's own Carmen and a trickle-down of the suspension and motor assembly from the Sussurro. This unique internal damping system provides proper transmission of energy through the entire moving system, creating a proper mechanical impedance match between cartridge and tonearm. This gives the Zephyr unparalleled speed, resolution and dynamic range with a gorgeous tonal balance to complement a wide variety of music.

The VPI Zephyr is a heavy weight cartridge at 10.27Gms and has low compliance making it best suitable for use with JMW tonearms. Output is 2.2mV, so the Zephyr works well with most MM phono preamps. Works with arms from 8Gms to 30Gms effective weight. All Soundsmith cartridges are Made in the USA.

    Moving Iron Design

A Moving Iron cartridge design has both the magnets and the coils fixed in place. A very low-mass and extremely precisely wound iron cross is affixed to the cantilever/stylus assembly and placed between the magnets and coils; as the iron cross moves in the magnetic field it generates signal voltage. Since only the iron cross moves, more coil windings (higher output) and heavier magnets (more powerful) may be used without penalty. Other advantages to the MI design are very low moving mass (greater resolution) and superior channel separation (better imaging).

    Weirdo Shrine (Awaiting Repress)

For most, a brush with death would be cause for retreat, reflection, and reluctance, but Seattle band La Luz found something different in it: resilience. Having survived a high-speed highway collision shortly after releasing their 2013 debut LP It's Alive, La Luz, despite lasting trauma, returned to touring with a frequency and tirelessness that put their peers to shame. Over the past year-and-a-half of performing, the band arrived at a greater awareness of their music's ability to whip eager crowds into a frenzy. In response, frontwoman Shana Cleveland's guitar solos took on a more unhinged quality. The basslines (from newly-installed member Lena Simon) became more lithe and elastic. Stage-dives and crowd-surfing grew to be as indelible a part of the La Luz live experience as their onstage doo-wop-indebted dance moves. When it came time to record Weirdo Shrine, their second album-due out August 7th-the goal was to capture the band's restless live energy and commit it to tape. In early 2015, Cleveland and Co. adjourned to a surf shop in San Dimas, California where, with the help of producer/engineer Ty Segall, they realized this vision. Tracking most of the album live in shared quarters, La Luz chose to leave in any happy accidents and spur-of-the-moment flourishes that occurred while recording. Cleveland's newly fuzzed-up guitar solos-which now incorporated the influence of Japanese Eleki players in addition to the twang of American surf and country-were juxtaposed against the group's most angelic four-part harmonies to date. The organs of Alice Sandahl and the drumming of Marian Li Pino were granted extra heft and dimension. Thematically, Cleveland channeled Washingtonian poet Richard Brautigan on "You Disappear" and "Oranges," and sought inspiration from Charles Burns' Seattle-set graphic novel Black Hole. The resulting album is a natural evolution of the band's self-styled "surf noir" sound-a rawer, turbo-charged sequel that charts themes of loneliness, infatuation, obsession and death across eleven tracks, from the opening credits siren song of "Sleep Till They Die" to the widescreen, receding-skyline send-off of "Oranges" and its bittersweet epilogue, "True Love Knows." In describing Weirdo Shrine, Segall remarked that it gave him a vision of a "world burning with colors [he'd] never seen, like mauve that is living." In "Oranges," the Brautigan poem which inspired the aforementioned track of the same name, the poet writes of a surreal "orange wind / that glows from your footsteps." These hue-based allusions are apt: the sound of La Luz is (appropriately) vibrant, and alive with a kaleidoscopic passion. Weirdo Shrine finds them at their most saturated and cinematic.

The Classic line pays homage to the great turntables of the past that have been synonymous with state of the art turntable design. The Classic has been the best selling turntable VPI has ever made and is still outselling production. The sales and rave reviews from around the world are based on the glorious sound and the incredible speed stability, speed stability normally associated with $10K plus designs. Our top of the line Classic 3 represents a significant step forward in both performance and aesthetics pushing the envelope as far as we can to deliver the best sounding turntable VPI has ever made.

The Classic 3 features a ½ thick machined aluminum plinth bonded to a 1/8 steel sub plate, bonded to 2 of MDF creating a plinth which is so massive and well damped it virtually eliminates resonance.

For the Classic 3 we updated the arm with a new JMW 10 3-D Tonearm, bearing assembly, base mounting, and VPI wiring from cartridge to RCA (or XLR) output jacks.

New feet were designed for greater stability, better isolation, and a matching look to the larger chassis. To complete the visual aesthetic of this state of the art design, we chose a deep Piano Black finish to perfectly counterpoint the silvery sheen of the top section. Gorgeous and glorious, the Classic 3 is an absolute triumph! Manufacturers who have received there Classic 3 are using adjectives like Gorgeous, Quietest table I've ever heard, How could it be so inexpensive, Speed stability like my digital masters.

The sound of the Classic 3 Turntable is powerful, airy, shockingly quick, and deathly quiet, with speed stability equal to any turntable in the world at any price.

Golden Triangle is a band of three girls and three boys who play music that's loud and spooky, and will make you aroused and ambitious. They fall somewhere along the psychedelic / garage / post-punk spectrum, with two singing ladies who sound like soulful ghosts.Recorded over a two week period at Key Club Recording Company with producer Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House, Blonde Redhead), Double Jointer has the speed and catchiness of the current garage / weird-punk / lo-fi movement with some profoundly goth under-currents and some no-wave guitar over-currents.

    Mozart: Gran Partita

Can a small ensemble perform a monumental work? Absolutely, as is demonstrated so impressively by Mozart's Serenade for Winds in B flat major, K. 361. Just a handful of musicians - 13 in all - enchant us for well over 45 minutes with a superb and inimitable serenade of symphonic proportions. In this highly original composition one must constantly admire the thrilling presence of the players who perform brilliantly both as soloists and in pairs. Bowing to the traditions of the Viennese Divertimento, Mozart unfolds his artistic and entertaining ideas before his good-humoured audience, both those of then and of now. The small forms, such as the courtly Minuet and the cheerful Laendler, provide a marked contrast to the sanctified Adagio and the blithe Rondo-Finale in the manner of a drinking song.
The Stuttgart Winds perform with freshness and inspiration, and the sound is further enhances by Tacet's recording engineer Andreas Spreer, using half-speed mastering to achieve the best-possible sound. The contemporary author Johann Friedrich Schink would have had much pleasure from this deceleration of speed that improves the quality of sound; he described his pleasure at a concert in the following words: » every instrument was played by a maestro - oh what an effect - glorious and grandiose, inspired and sublime.«

    With Ortofon OM 10

The new DEBUT Carbon Phono USB DC has been designed to set new standards in this category for the coming decade - perfectly timed as analogue today is again a respected source, while the demand for good turntables is growing again!

The most obvious improvement is the inclusion of a CARBON TUBE for the tonearm, which increases stiffness and decreases unwanted resonance. This material normally is extensively used in high-end tonearms, but - because of cost reasons - was never used in products at lower price levels. Together with other improvements like an increase in platter size and weight to realize even smoother rotation, the overall sound quality is greatly improved. The approved belt drive design offers low noise AC motor with effective motor decoupling (utilising TPE-damping) and ultra precision frequency DC-driven AC generator (like Speed Box) for ultimate speed stability without unwanted vibration.

Because Debut Carbon Phono USB (DC) comes with the pre-mounted cartridge and build-in phono preamplifier with USB output, connection to both line-level input of your hi-fi system and recording of vinyl to PC/Mac easily can be done simultaneously!

    With 2M Red Cartridge

The best-buy turntable classic with carbon tonearm and DC power supply!

The first Debut turntable, introduced in the late 1990s, was a revolution for the hi-fi industry. For the first time after the arrival of Compact Disc and the assumed demise of vinyl records, an analogue product re-emerged in the "mass market" - something all music lovers could afford.

The new DEBUT Carbon DC has been designed to set new standards in this category for the coming decade - perfectly timed as analogue today is again a respected source, while the demand for good turntables is growing again!

    Thunderpussy

What if Thor's Hammer of the Gods from "Immigrant Song" landed in the hands of four wise, willful, and wild women? Well, it would sound something like Thunderpussy.

The quartet-Molly Sides [vocals], Whitney Petty [guitar], Leah Julius [bass], and Ruby Dunphy [drums]-do the most rock 'n' roll thing possible and quite literally fuck up every rock 'n' roll stereotype you know to be true, piercing the halls of Valhalla in the process. Think of it like an inverse Frank Frazetta painting where it's the Amazonian siren wielding all of the world's power instead of Conan (he's on the sidelines in awe). More simply, instead of Page and Plant, Perry and Tyler, and Jagger and Richards, you get Molly and Whitney. Known for earth shattering pipes, heart-stopping performance art, and a propensity to literally writhe through a crowd, Molly is the consummate ideal front-person-bold, brilliant, brazen, and beautiful. At her righthand, you've got Whitney as the ultimate 21st century axe-slinger-cool, collected, and crazy on that fretboard. Rounding out the fray, Leah and Ruby cook up the tightest rhythm section this side of Cream (no kidding).

So, what is it that turned the Seattle-based group into a quiet phenomenon with the endorsement of Rolling Stone and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready as well as a string of already legendary performances under their high-waisted belts (we're looking at you, Sasquatch)? It'd be too easy to say it's the power of the P----

Whitney steps in, "People talk about that magic. There's some voodoo happening between Molly and I, which is like a cosmic connection. She has this power. Somehow, I'm under her spell when we're performing-we all are."

"The truth is, I feel the same way about Whitney, Leah, and Ruby," smiles Molly. "We're all in this together."

That unity drives the band's forthcoming full-length debut Thunderpussy [Stardog Records/Republic Records] produced by Sylvia Massy. The lead single Speed Queen begins with a revving engine and arena-size percussion before snapping into a muscular and majestic riff and vocal proclamation, "Long live the Speed Queen."

"The 'Speed Queen' is this mythic and magical woman who rides a motorcycle and travels around the country," explains Whitney. "Nobody knows too much about where she came from or where she's going, but she changes everyone she meets because she's that powerful. I was thinking of Molly when I wrote it."

Its companion track "Badlands" evokes bluesy Zeppelin-style mysticism with a fury that certainly wouldn't be out of place on Aerosmith's Rocks-but is completely at home on Speed Queen.

"It nods to that classic Terrence Malick movie Badlands with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek," adds Molly. "It's an on-the-run love song between two outlaws."

Among its arsenal, Thunderpussy also boasts a song produced by McCready "Velvet Noose." Everything comes together into one cohesive and classic vision of rock music recharged, reinvigorated, and resurrected in what can only be described as a diamond in the muff: Thunderpussy.

"Being a lover of rock 'n' roll music for my whole life, you either have it, or you don't," Whitney leaves off. "If you find it, cultivate it, treat it like a wild animal, and tame that raw energy, but not too much. That's what this is."

    Our Love

180 Gram Vinyl Cut At Half Speed

You reach a point in life where the question of how to stay at the top of your
game looms, with the only real solution being: you change the game. Our Love,
the new album from Caribou, is the sound of Dan Snaith doing just that.
Our Love is the fifth studio album from Caribou.

Our Love is formed around a mixture of digital pop production, hip
hop-inspired beats, muted house basslines, and a love of shuffling garage
that can be traced all the way back to the time of Start Breaking My Heart - all
of which are, of course, filtered through Dan's own unique perspective. The
warm analog sounds of classic soul should not be overlooked either, for they
weave themselves most intensely into the record's DNA. In fact, Our Love is
probably Caribou's most soulful record to date, with tracks like "Back Home"
whose heartfelt lyrics - dealing in tired relationships and a weary kind of love
    - and organic nature cut through the bubbling synths and blissful euphoria
of their synthetic constructions. It's not all downbeat of course; while some
thoughts linger on mortality, loss, and letting go, there is always an element of
    celebration.

    Foxtrot

    180g Audiophile Vinyl

    Half Speed Mastering

2008 Mixes By Nick Davis & Genesis

    Pressed At Pallas GmbH

Foxtrot is where Genesis began to pull all of its varied inspirations into a cohesive sound -- which doesn't necessarily mean that the album is streamlined, for this is a group that always was grandiose even when they were cohesive, or even when they rocked, which they truly do for the first time here. Indeed, the startling thing about the opening Watcher of the Skies is that it's the first time that Genesis attacked like a rock band, playing with a visceral power. There's might and majesty here, and it, along with Get 'Em Out by Friday, is the truest sign that Genesis has grown muscle without abandoning the whimsy. Certainly, they've rarely sounded as fantastical or odd as they do on the epic 22-minute closer Supper's Ready, a nearly side-long suite that remains one of the group's signature moments. It ebbs, flows, teases, and taunts, see-sawing between coiled instrumental attacks and delicate pastoral fairy tales. If Peter Gabriel remained a rather inscrutable lyricist, his gift for imagery is abundant, as there are passages throughout the album that are hauntingly evocative in their precious prose. But what impresses most about Foxtrot is how that precociousness is delivered with pure musical force. This is the rare art-rock album that excels at both the art and the rock, and it's a pinnacle of the genre (and decade) because of it.

    Terrible Certainty

Remastered Versions By Andy Pearce And Overseen By Mille Petrozza

    Featuring New Art

Packed With Rare Photos And Memorabilia And Notes By Mille And Malcolm Dome (Metal Hammer) Talking About The Creation Of The Albums

Contains Kreator's Out Of The Dark... Into The Light EP As Well As Live Tracks Record At Dynamo Club, Eindhoven, Netherlands, In 1988

1987's Terrible Certainty did nothing to dent the perception that Kreator was one of the genre's best bands, and for once, Petrozza had a little time to work out the songs beforehand. Kreator beefed up to a quartet once again with the addition of guitarist Jörge Trebziatowski. This version also contains the Out of the Dark... Into the Light EP which was originally released in 1988. The live tracks were recorded at Dynamo Club, Eindhoven, Netherlands, in 1988.

Formed in Essen, Germany in 1982, Kreator is arguably the most influential and successful European thrash metal band ever, like many of their European speed metal brethren, Kreator fused Metallica's thrash innovations with Venom's proto-black metal imagery. Kreator has been referred to as one of the Big 4 of Teutonic thrash metal, and they are often credited with helping pioneer death metal and black metal by containing several elements of what was to become those genres. The band has achieved worldwide sales of over two million units for combined sales of all their albums, making them one of the best-selling German thrash metal bands of all time. Kreator's style has changed several times over the years, from a Venom-inspired speed metal sound, later moving into thrash metal, and including a period of transitioning from thrash to industrial metal and gothic metal throughout the 1990s. In the early 2000s, Kreator returned to their classic thrash sound, which has continued to the present.

    The Punch Line

The Minutemen may have come out of the same California hardcore scene that produced Black Flag, Circle Jerks, and Fear, but they not only bore little resemblance to their West Coast contemporaries, they didn't sound much like anyone else in American rock at that time. The Punch Line was the band's first album, packing 18 tunes into less than 25 minutes, and if the music shares hardcore's lust for speed and assaultive rhythmic punch, their sharp, fragmented melodies, complex tempos, and overtly poetic and political lyrics made clear they were rugged individuals; imagine James Blood Ulmer teaching Wire how to get funky and you start to get an idea of what The Punch Line sounds like. It wasn't until the band began to slow down a bit on What Makes a Man Start Fires? that the strength of the group's individual songs became clear, and The Punch Line works better as a unified sonic assault than as a collection of tunes, but moments do stand out, especially Tension, Fanatics, and the title cut, which certainly lends a new perspective to Native American history. The Punch Line was as wildly inventive as anything spawned by American punk, and the band would only get better on subsequent releases.
