    Another Dimension

Now heavily influenced by the earth-shaking creations of two master musicians (John Coltrane and Ravi Shankar)the Byrds began recording their new single, Eight Miles High and Why, along with tracks for their upcoming album Fifth Dimension at Columbia Studios in Hollywood. Growing more confident by the day in their studio acumen and songwriting skills, the Byrds logged long nights of hypnotic in-studio jamming, then hammered the white-hot magma into songs that will live forever. McGuinn's solos soared as never before, his technique now fusing the familiar, melodic overtones of the Rickenbacker 12-string with a powerfully new staccato dissonance absorbed from the majestic saxophone of John Coltrane. Michael Clarke's drumming never sounded better, his Elvin Jones-like cymbal splashes and rolling-tom thunder driving the band like an atomic generator approaching critical mass. Chris Hillmans swooping bass lines took on a McCartney-esque timbre that filled in every corner of the canvas with bold, melodic strokes. But it was perhaps David Crosby, playing in a brashly percussive way no one had ever heard before from a rhythm guitarist, who best digested and interpreted the Eastern influences of the day: the ragas and talas of Ravi Shankar. Crosby's contribution to Fifth Dimension was as outspoken and defiant as the man, himself. Acreative zenith in the Byrd's career, these fascinating sessions deserve closer scrutiny than they've previously been afforded. Alternate instrumental takes and extended experimental workouts give essential insight here into the songs' final versions. Also included are early versions of songs before the addition of any studio Sweetening of strings, percussion or sound effects. To top things off, we've included a small handful of unique finds that give a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into the creation of one of the most important records of our time.

1969 keyboard player Vincent Crane and drummer Carl Palmer, left The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and founded ATOMIC ROOSTER. The debut album was published in 1970 and became a respectable success, but Palmer moved to Emerson, Lake & Palmer, who became one of the supergroups of the Seventies. Crane continued with John DuCann on guitar and this occupation is still regarded as the most successful line-up of Atomic Rooster. After the second album DuCann got off. Then in 1979, the sensation, Crane and DuCann came together again. The same called album came out in 1980.

Atomic, the new album by Scottish experimental rock
legends Mogwai, is composed of reworked versions of
the music recorded for the soundtrack to director Mark
Cousins' acclaimed documentary Atomic: Living In
Dread and Promise, which first aired on BBC Four last

Constructed entirely of archive film, Atomic is an
impressionistic kaleidoscope of the horrors of our nuclear
times - protest marches, Cold War sabre-rattling,
Chernobyl and Fukishima - but also the sublime beauty
of the atomic world, and how x-rays and MRI scans have
    improved human lives. Mogwai's soundtrack
encapsulates the nightmare of the nuclear age, but its
dreamlike qualities too. It is the latest in the band's series
of impressive soundtracks and scores, following
acclaimed albums Les Revenants (The Returned) and
    Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait.

Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite says: The Atomic
soundtrack is one of the most intense and fulfilling
projects we've taken on as a band. Ever since we went to
Hiroshima to play and visited the peace park this has
been a subject very close to us. The end results, both the
film score and the record are pieces I'm extremely proud

How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb

How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb is the eleventh studio album by Irish rock band U2. It was originally released on November 22nd, 2004 on Island Records and Interscope Records and features the singles Vertigo, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, City Of Blinding Lights, All Because of You, and Original of the Species.

Much like their previous album, All That You Can't Leave Behind, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb exhibits a more mainstream rock sound after the band experimented with alternative rock and dance music in the 1990s. The album was produced by Steve Lillywhite, with additional production from Chris Thomas, Jacknife Lee, Nellee Hooper, Flood, Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno, and Carl Glanville.

Big Black was started by Steve Albini in 1982 while he was attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Lungs, the first Big Black release was recorded by Steve on a borrowed 4-track. He played everything on the EP himself - except the sax bleating courtesy of pal John Bohnen and the drums courtesy of Roland. Soon after, Steve recruited Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun) on bass, and Santiago Durango (also Naked Raygun) joined them on guitar. In 1983, together with live drummer Pat Byrne, they recorded the Bulldozer EP. By 1984, the band had done some touring and recorded the Racer X EP and the start of the Il Duce 7". After that, Jeff returned to Naked Raygun and was replaced by Dave Riley. In 1985, Big Black recorded their first full-length, Atomizer, as well as finishing the Il Duce 7". Atomizer was released in 1986 along with the release of the Hammer Party compilation CD. In 1987, the Headache EP and Heartbeat 7" were released. That same year, the band recorded and released the 7" of The Model/He's A Whore as well as their second full-length album, Songs About Fucking. They toured extensively (for Big Black). Remastered version of the debut album from Main Source. It is widely thought of as a very influential album and it is notable for the debut of Hip Hop superstar Nas. It is also highly regarded thanks to the virtuoso production of frontman Large Professor, whose heavy, and original, use of sampling influenced Hip Hop producers for a good portion of the '90s. Nas makes his debut appearance on Live at the Barbeque, which is also played in the background of Genesis, the intro to his critically acclaimed album, Illmatic. Fourteen Inches of Fist

Screaming guitars, brutal, primal drumming and a twisted, wailing saxophone cutting through it all.. The whole thing is done with a sense of humour and is a joy to behold. Atomic Suplex have toured Europe and Asia sharing the stage with such luminaries as The Hives, Guitar Wolf, Fat White Family, Buzzcocks, and many more.. Every song is a one to two minute burst of distorted guitars, insane vocals, the occasional bit of sax. And, you know what? It's brilliant. If you want some raw, visceral rock'n'roll thrills this band comes highly recommended.

    Death Walks Behind You

Pressed On 180 Gram Vinyl With Gatefold Sleeve

Death Walks Behind You is the second studio album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. It is commonly thought of as the archetypal Atomic Rooster album, recorded by the 'classic' line-up of Vincent Crane, John Du Cann and Paul Hammond.

It is, critically and commercially, their most successful album and often hailed as a classic of the progressive rock genre. It also produced the hit single Tomorrow Night (UK #11), which became one of the band's best-known songs. The album's cover features the William Blake monotype Nebuchadnezzar.

The title track was covered on record in 1992 by Paradise Lost, in 2000 by Bigelf (on their album Money Machine) and in 2012 by Swedish death metal band NonExist.

A repackaging and remastering job restores the original artwork in all its gatefold glory.

    In Hearing Of

After the success of Death Walks Behind You, an appearance on Top of the Pops, a successful tour, it was time for emerging stars Atomic Rooster to record their third album. The album is a perfect example of a band evolving and in constant transition, such as they show with this little-known gem of the 70s British rock.

Much less bombastic than the band's earlier releases, In Hearing Of is almost funky at times.

The lyrics are doom-laden in the spirit of much of this genre of British hard rock at the time, and pseudo-classical references crop up from time to time, but Vincent Crane's keyboards are generally tasty, and the melodies are often downright memorable.

The album's genre is not-quite-metal, not-quite-progressive, but evocative and very well executed. Although not up to the 'classic' status that its predecessor attained, In Hearing of by Atomic Rooster is a very enjoyable album for both prog and hard rock fans, and probably the last Atomic Rooster album to make an impact on the emerging heavy prog scene; up-and-coming bands like Uriah Heep, Hawkwind and Gentle Giant would soon command more attention. However, the influence of In Hearing Of can be heard in those band's music, as well as millennial bands such as Wolfmother.

After releasing their eponymous debut album, Love broadened their scope into psychedelia on their sophomore 1967 effort Da Capo. The six songs that comprise the rst side of this album are a truly classic body of work, highlighted by the atomic blast of their only hit single "Seven & Seven Is", the manic jazz tempos of "Stephanie Knows Who," and the enchanting "She Comes in Colors", perhaps Lee's best composition (and reportedly the inspiration for the Rolling Stones' "She's a Rainbow"). Recorded with producer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor) at The Atomic Garden studios in Palo Alto, CA, Anxiety Answering is a natural
progression and impressive second album. It features ten tracks that are both lush and atmospheric while maintaining an intensely abrasive tone, which
Shirley captured beautifully on analog in a live setting in the studio. "We went with a more organic approach with writing and recording this record,"

The Damned have announced details of their new album, Evil Spirits, their first new album in a decade. It was made at Atomic Sound Studios in Brooklyn with Bowie collaborator/producer Tony Visconti. Says Captain Sensible:

We deliberately recorded the album retro style. The same way our debut album was made, basically. There's something wonderful about the seventies sounds; glam, rock and punk records, they all sound so great and Tony specializes in beautifully crafted old school production. Scotland's Mogwai are not only legendary experimental rock icons, but also well-established soundtrack titans - sound sculptors behind an impressive spectrum of cinematic releases (both full soundtracks and contributions): Including their last film soundtrack, Atomic (2016), there's been consistent acclaim through Michael Mann's Miami Vice (2006), The Fountain (2006, collaborating with Clint Mansell and Kronos Quartet), Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait (2007), Amnesty International's PEACE project (2010), international hit French TV series Les Revenants (2013), and Leonardo DiCaprio's climate change documentary Before The Flood (2016) alongside soundtrack Oscar-winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

The staggeringly prolific force that is Mogwai return less than a year after their standout new album, Every Country's Sun, to provide the soundtrack to the anticipated, acclaimed new sci-fi major motion picture, KIN. Like their beloved soundtracks to Atomic and Les Revenants, KIN uses the band's original score as the genesis and point of departure for an expanded, fully developed album of new songs. Generator knocks about stirringly with a steadfast, mid-tempo punk roar, keeping the songs simple but continually on the upsurge. Brett and Greg Hetson's guitars piggyback to ever-rousing heights, utilizing the essential chords and keeping limits on flashy things like solos or effects, never letting the enthusiasm or sentiment wane. With all players striving to turn each listening experience into a placard-waving melee, Bad Religion emblazons honest, dissatisfied-with-the-status-quo lyrics with an uberpunk spirit, Greg Graffin's vocals growing more gravelly and endearing with each record.

With the implicit understanding that strength lies in brevity, Bad Religion hew mighty exhortations to action out of a well-trampled happy-punk base, and the sheer motivational impact of Generator, Only Entertainment, Atomic Garden and No Direction sweeps clear any charges of oversimplification or sameness. Taylor's (lead singer of Hot Chip) newest solo effort, Await Barbarians, is a series of songs
"from the halfway line." Possessing the same immediacy as his music with Hot Chip and the
adventurousness of his work with About Group, there is a special intimacy to these lyrics,

    Bad Reputation

That much rock & roll excess and that little sleep--it would be enough to ruffle anyone. Thus Thin Lizzy decamped to Canada to unwind from a year of incident and illness. There they produced Bad Reputation, which sounds, if not exactly laid-back, then at least damn smooth. Phil Lynott was confident enough to loosen Lizzy's atomic boogie and open his writing to jazz and folk influences, while the band, despite shifting membership, sound tighter than ever, playing with a new delicacy and thoughtfulness. Scott Gorham emerged here as a genuinely original guitarist, Tony Visconti's production sharpens the edges, and the title track, Southbound, and Dancing in the Moonlight are among Lizzy's best. --Taylor Parkes (Amazon)

    180 Gram Double LP

Following a whirlwind two-year world tour in support of Megalithic Symphony, 2014 saw Awolnation withdraw into the depths of the California coastline to construct the sophomore effort. A culmination of the years following the release of the debut album, the 14-track Run was written, performed and produced entirely by musical architect Aaron Bruno. The end result is a finely tuned musical masterwork that is at times, and all at once, sprawling, atmospheric, exuberant, earnest and refined with moments of a signature aggressive unease. 'There is not one second on the record that hasn't been thoughtfully placed,' said Bruno. 'Every single element serves a purpose.'

Standout songs alongside the first single Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) include the cinematic Jailbreak, the soaring anthem I Am, the title track Run, the euphoric Windows, the painfully vulnerable Headrest for My Soul, and the atomic rebellion of KOOKSEVERYWHERE!!!!

    Meddle (Awaiting Repress)

Remastered From The Original Analogue Master Tapes

During a short break from touring Atom Heart Mother in 1971, Pink Floyd released the experimental album Meddle. The LP saw the band move musical direction away from their original psychedelic sound, especially highlighted by the 23-minute track Echoes which occupied the entire b-side of the record.
