    Shooting At The Moon

Shooting at the Moon (1970) is the second solo album of Kevin Ayers. Following the release of his solo debut, Joy Of A Toy, Kevin Ayers created The Whole World to take the album on the road.

Following the tour, the band (including Mike Oldfield, Lol Coxhill, Mick Fincher, Robert Wyatt and David Bedford), found itself in the studio. In October 1970, Ayers introduced the world to the Whole World with the release of his follow-up Shooting At The Moon.

Shooting At The Moon is a solid, unique Pop record. However, Ayers has presented the material in the guise of progressive, arty Rock. No songs in Ayers' discography are more representative of his amiable musical nature than these.

    Joy Of A Toy

As the SOFT MACHINE's first bassist and original principal songwriter, Kevin Ayers was an overlooked force behind the group's groundbreaking recordings in 1967 and 1968. Joy Of A Toy is his debut solo album, its whimsical and unique vision is a clear indication of how Soft Machine might have progressed under Ayers' tenure. On the LP he is accompanied by his Soft Machine colleagues Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge and Hugh Hopper.

After a Soft Machine tour of the USA with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Ayers had decided to retire from the music business. Hendrix however, presented Ayers with an acoustic Gibson J-200 guitar on the promise that he continue his songwriting. Ayers repaired to a small London flat where he composed and arranged Joy Of A Toy features many of Ayers' most enduring songs from The Lady Rachel to Girl on a Swing.

It was on this album that Ayers developed his sonorous vocal delivery, an avant-garde song construction and an affection for bizarre instrumentation that would have a deep influence far into the 1970s and indeed the present day.

    They Shall Inherit

Menagerie is the new spiritual jazz project from the prolific Australian producer/songwriter Lance Ferguson, best known for his eclectic and highly acclaimed work under the Lanu and the Bamboos monikers. They Shall Inherit features a guest appearance from the legendary US jazz/funk vibraphonist Roy Ayers, and the album has had early support from the authority on all things leftfield, Gilles Peterson.

Two musicions featured heavily on They Shall Inherit are Philip Noy and Mark Fitzgibbon. Phil is one of Melbourne's top saxophone technicians and for this album, he reconfigured his horns to match Coltrane's settings. Mark Fitzgibbon's background includes time soaking up London's jazz dance scene in the 80s, playing keys at the legendary Dingwalls sessions hosted by Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge. Also featured is special guest Roy Ayers on vibes.

    To Dust

To Dust will be the first solo album from Alice Russell since 2008's Pot Of Cold, and marks the next step forward in a remarkable career. Whether on a big stage with her 16-piece band, charming a crowd of 4000 into staying out dancing in the rain (as she did at Montreal Jazz Festival) or rocking out an intimate club with a stripped-down six piece, Alice's natural talent and charisma have always commanded attention and affection. Unfazed by taking to the spotlight after a sober Amy Winehouse or joining Roy Ayers live for Everybody Love The Sunshine, it is no wonder she has attracted worldwide media support, and praise from fans as diverse as Gilles Peterson, David Byrne, Dennis Coffey, Massive Attack's Daddy G, and Groove Armada.

    Bright: The Album

From the director of SUICIDE SQUAD and END OF WATCH, David Ayer, comes a new action-packed film starring Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Edgar Ramirez and Lucy Fry. The Netflix Film was produced by Ayer, Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless.

Set in an alternate present-day, this action-thriller directed by David Ayer (SUICIDE SQUAD, END OF WATCH, writer of TRAINING DAY) follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward, a human (Will Smith), and Jakoby, an orc (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a deadly, thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything.

Bright: The Album, the film's soundtrack accompaniment, features a mind-blowing track listing of original music from a genre-defying collection of massive artists: A$AP Rocky, alt-J, Bastille, Bebe Rexha, Camila Cabello, DRAM, Future, Grey, Kiiara, Lil Uzi Vert, Logic, Machine Gun Kelly, Marshmello, Meek Mill, Migos, Neil Young, Portugal. The Soft Machine (Awaiting Repress)

The first two albums by England's legendary Soft Machine, originally released in 1968 and 1969, remain among the most innovative and influential releases of that musically fertile era. These seminal LPs offered a visionary psychedelic-progressive-jazz-rock mix that helped to make the Soft Machine one of Britain's first significant underground bands, as well as a key force in the birth of both progressive rock and jazz-rock.

A product of the same fabled Canterbury scene that spawned such beloved cult acts as Caravan and Hatfield and the North, the Soft Machine was the rare art-rock combo whose members possessed the instrumental skills to execute their ambitious musical ideas, as well as a playful sense of humor that balanced the band's complex compositions and adventurous improvisations. By the time they began making albums, the Soft Machine was already a sensation in the budding U.K. rock underground, thanks to their now-legendary performances at such fabled London clubs as the UFO, the Speakeasy and Middle Earth, where they shared stages with the likes of Pink Floyd and Tomorrow.

The Soft Machine, co-produced by Chas Chandler and Tom Wilson, announced the band's arrival on the international scene in fine style. With an unusual three-man lineup comprised of Kevin Ayers on bass and vocals, Robert Wyatt on drums and vocals, and Mike Ratledge on keyboards, the album was recorded in New York, while the band was touring North America with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In contrast to the extended pieces that would later dominate the Soft Machine's repertoire, the album focuses on shorter, more concise songs that nonetheless provide plenty of room for the musicians to demonstrate their varied abilities.

This landmark vinyl gem has been out of print for decades, but now it is back in this meticulously packaged Sundazed edition. Mastered from the original analog tapes and pressed on pristine high-definition vinyl, this lovingly restored vintage gem sounds as powerful and imaginative as ever.

    Gone Banana

"Backed by film noir brass and gently reverbed minor chords, Birgy's spectral vocals are at once comforting like a cashmere blanket and discomboblatingly strange. Not unlike catching the scent of someone that pulls you
back to a dimension you forgot."- Noisey

"The record takes delightfully unexpected..., mixing together subdued vocals, fuzzy riffs, and deliberate bass lines with a saxophone that often slices
through melodies with free-spirited and seductive cries." - Wild Magazine

A thick green mist, a lush chill vibe; after 5 years and countless self-released
tapes and CDs, Mega Bog - the brainchild of songwriter Erin Birgy - has
completed their best work to date; a swirling pop cloud called 'Gone Banana'.
Influenced equally by the emotional psychedelia of Kevin Ayers and the pop
whimsy of Steely Dan, 'Banana' is a joyous declaration of artistic independence and purpose. The story of a chronic goofball insisting on being taken
seriously. A celebration of melancholy; using music to force yourself off the
floor when you hit the bottom. Birgy is an enigmatic musician and a true
weirdo - Megabog changes lineups and configurations faster than most musicians change clothes.

Alternately a tender songwriting project, a blazin-hot jazz-rock combo, or an
open forum for goofy one offs and fragile experimentation, it is ultimately
whatever Birgy wants it to be on a given day. For 'Banana' she has gathered a
loose group from Seattle's thriving experimental pop and improvised music
scene, including members of local mainstays like Neighbors and Iji, along
with hotshot sax guy Jacob Zimmerman. Sounding equal parts Ariel Pink and
Prefab Sprout, they rip through 9 hazy burners with a sneaky tightness hidden behind layers of drizzle and reverb. Birgy's rich voice croons and bends
around the shifting walls of sound, organizing and refocusing the swirl. Representing a unique moment in Birgy's songwriting and a budding maturation
for a bouncy community of oddball pop addicts, 'Gone Banana' is an immersive listening experience and a peek into the life of a truly strange soul.

    Welcome To The Worms

Los Angeles-based sister duo Jennifer and Jessie Clavin knew things were going to be different for their band Bleached sophomore LP Welcome The Worms. Not only had they managed to charm world renowned producer Joe Chiccarelli (Morrissey, The Strokes, Elton John) to join the sisters and their bassist Micayla Grace in the studio, but Jen and Jessie had been crawling out of their own personal dramas. While emotionally spinning, they dove head first into music.

The three girls spent time writing the 10 song LP at a remote house in Joshua Tree, away from the distractions of the city. Other times Jen and Jessie worked alone, just like when they were teenaged punk brats playing in their parents' garage, imitating their heroes The Slits, Black Flag and Minor Threat.

In the studio, Chiccarelli and co-producer Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, YACHT) helped the band perfect their fervent songs into fearlessly big pop melodies. They drew inspiration from the iconic hits of everyone from Fleetwood Mac to Heart to Roy Ayers. The result is an ambitious rock record with a new found pop refinement that somehow still feels like the Shangri-Las on speed, driven forward in a wind of pot and petals, a wall of guitars in the back seat.

Not only had they managed to charm world renowned producer Joe Chiccarelli (Morrissey, The Strokes, Elton John) to join them and their bassist Micayla Grace in the studio, but the sisters had been crawling out of their own personal dramas. While emotionally spinning, they dove head first into music.

After touring extensively worldwide and finding success with their hit single Wednesday Night Melody Bleached is back with four new blazing tracks on their Can You Deal? EP. Fueled by the experiences they've had as women in their calling for music, Can You Deal? takes on the complexities of issues female musicians encounter in an industry dominated by men. With this fire in their bellies, they connected with Alex Newport (Bloc Party, Mars Volta) to produce the EP. With their singularly triumphant mix of sunny melodies, thrashing guitars and lyrics highlighting the darker sides of life, Bleached continues to demand your attention.
