    Johnny Winter And Live

Mastered from the Original Columbia Records Tapes by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray

There are live albums, and then there are definitive live albums from the classic rock era which were events on their release. Johnny Winter And Live is one of those rare releases. Recorded during his short-lived and much revered Johnny Winter And era, this early supergroup with Rick Derringer (The McCoys, Edgar Winter Group, Steely Dan), Randy Jo Hobbs (The McCoys /Johnny Winter) and Bobby Caldwell (Captain Beyond) were known for their incredible live rock performances. Two of these phenomenal shows are captured on this historical rock album.

Bill Grahams Fillmore East in NYC and Pirates World in Florida were the settings for this live extravaganza, featuring stunning renditions of blues classics Good Morning Little School Girl and of course B.B. Kings Its My Own Fault. As a nod to his favorite rock and rollers, Johnny even found the energy for more foot stompin interpretations of tracks which became his own definitive versions like The Rolling Stones Jumpin Jack Flash and the legendary Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry. This album was so jam packed with excitement that rock radio at the time would play the entire album sides because of the ground breaking performances contained within the grooves.

Friday Music announces another installment of their Johnny Winter 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with his gold album Johnny Winter And Live. This first time audiophile vinyl release is mastered from the original Columbia Records tapes by Joe Reagoso (Johnny Winter/Deep Purple/Jeff Beck) at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI.

For this special release, the limited edition album comes in the original gatefold album cover featuring the stunning live photography of Norman Seeff. To keep your album in impeccable condition, also included is a poly lined sleeve to protect your vinyl investment and a poly bag for the stunning album cover art.

    Live At Carnegie Hall

Stupendous 1973 Concert Set Ranks Alongside James Brown's Live At The Apollo And B.B. King's Live At The Regal

Easygoing Portrait Of Down-home Soul Singer Coming Into His Own And Establishing An Indelible Bond Between Performer And Audience

Mastered From The Original Master Tapes: Mobile Fidelity Takes You Inside The Famed Venue And Lets You Be A Part Of The Event

On par with the most treasured concert albums of the 60s and 70s, Bill Withers' transformative Live at Carnegie Hall< is a forgotten classic--an easygoing portrait of a down-home soul artist coming into his own in front of an audience eager to share every moment of his brilliance. Soothing with subtlety, charming with calmness, and healing with a vocal timbre as relaxing as his grooves, Withers uses the stage to expand the range of favorites and engage in dialog with the crowd. Distinguished with sonics that restore the performances' balance and improve the soundstaging, this reissue takes you inside the venue.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g 2LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 2LP set of this extraordinary 1973 record provides a transparent view of Withers' relaxing timbre and the subtle grooves underlining his arrangements. Characteristics ranging from the tension of the guitars, funky bends of the bass, whisper-soft coo of the formal strings, airiness of the backing harmonies, and sharpness of the snare drum emerge with utmost clarity and lifelike presence.

Moreover, aspects that really make this concert document unique--the energetic crowd, Withers and his band's willingness to extend arrangements, and the undeniable communicative bond between the performer and his fans--are brought into fuller relief. While most live albums give you the sense of what transpired, Mobile Fidelity's reissue allows it to seem that what you're hearing and sensing is happening right now, in the moment. You are as much a participant as listener. For this reason and more, Live at Carnegie Hall ranks with James Brown's Live at the Apollo and B.B. King's Live at the Regal. No small claims, but the proof is in the grooves.

The antithesis of the sweaty R&B shouter that prowls the edge of stages, Withers deals in mellowness and vulnerability, qualities that come to fore. The songs here span soul, blues, and folk and often times, contain elements of all three styles. Live at Carnegie Hall also deals with serious subject matter with unflinching honesty and simple directness. Companionship, poverty, war, maturity, family, and love all crop up within Withers' tunes, yet the messages are never overly cumbersome or preachy. Credit goes to his easygoing style and relatable lyrics, not to mention a tight-as-a-vice band that on this night is simply on.

One more time? Withers asks in response to a request for another stanza during Use Me, and like the snap of fingers, his musicians are right back on cue, the crowd clapping along on every beat. This classic, as well as the instantly familiar Ain't No Sunshine, poignant Grandma's Hands, and all-time favorite Lean On Me are delivered with utmost soulfulness, passion, and electricity. Few, if any, live albums demonstrate such a bond between the crowd and artist as Live at Carnegie Hall. You'll definitely want to be there. Mobile Fidelity makes it happen.

    The Cost Of Living

For The Revelations, their latest offering, The Cost Of Living (Decision/Sony RED), is a labor of love years in the making. Since they first came on the scene in 2008 with their Deep Soul EP(Decision), Brooklyn, NY's The Revelations have represented a twenty-first-century take on classic soul-one which shows reverence for the masters, but with a uniquely modern sensibility-a sound The New York Times' Jon Pareles calls "revivalism without poses or quotation marks".

On The Cost Of Living, Rell Gaddis assumes the lead vocal duties previously provided by Tre Williams. This is by no means Rell's debut with The Revelations, however. Rell has been part of the group's writing team from their onset, and performed with the band for years, even contributing lead vocals to "It's Too Late" from their 2009 album The Bleeding Edge (Decision). Since being signed to Jay-Z's Roc-a-fella Records back in 1997, Rell has had a prolific singing and writing career, creating his own records, as well as penning and lending vocals to songs featuring artists Usher (Rell wrote Usher's #1 RnB Hit Here I Stand), Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mary J Blige, and many more.

This workman-like mentality is pervasive throughout the band as well. The Revelations feature Wes Mingus on guitar, Gintas Janusonis on drums, and newcomer Ben Zwerin on bass. Each accomplished performing and session musicians in their own right, The Revelations have combined to provide music for icons such as the Wu-Tang Clan and Lee "Scratch" Perry, as well as soul royalty Otis Clay, Willie Clayton, Benny Latimore, and Swamp Dogg.

The distinctive blues/rock/soul sound of The Cost Of Living was recorded at soul mecca Royal Studios in Memphis, TN, produced by Bob Perry with Lawrence "Boo" Mitchell, as well as The Revelations themselves. For this project, the band is joined by Stax and Hi Records session legends Bobby Manuel (guitar), Lester Snell (keyboards), and Charles Hodges (organ). Lyrically, The Cost Of Living weaves tales of perseverance despite hardship. From the opening track, "Mama", about a single mother scrounging to raise her children, to the jaded optimism of "It's Ok", the pragmatism of "Money Makes The World Go 'Round", and the heart-broken disillusionment of the soul classic "Got To Use My Imagination", The Revelations continue their tradition of presenting blues topics with soul music's urgency.

The Revelations' engaging and energetic live performances continue to win over audiences from Brooklyn to the Mississippi Delta to California and beyond, creating fans such as A-listers B.B. King, Bobby Womack and Stevie Wonder in the process. This is new, true soul music with a sharp, modern edge.

The Robin Trower/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series Continues

    Celebrating His Legendary Live Album

First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Release!

Mastered From The Original Chrysalis Records Tapes By Joe Reagoso

Whenever Robin Trower releases an album, it's always a musical event.
As the fourth in a stunning flow of multifaceted career defining albums, the
legendary British guitarist (co-founder of Procol Harum) unleashed one of the
most popular albums in his ever enduring catalog with 1976's Robin Trower
    Live!

Recorded absolutely live in Stockholm, this masterwork unites the guitar
hero with his powerful team of world class musicians, the late great James
Dewar on simmering lead vocals & bass and the powerful drum work of Bill
Lordan. The brilliant guitar shredder and his amazing band truly throw down
some of his classiest and hardest drivin,g best known repertoire for this Robin
Trower, produced by Geoff Emerick (Pink Floyd/ Beatles).

The album begins with his best known rocker, Too Rolling Stoned. The tune
finds Robin Trower and James Dewar dueling on some very solid power riffs,
making this the ultimate opening track for the listener.

The soulful, hypnotic vibe of Daydream has the tremendous voicing of
Robin's guitar with Bill Lordan's fine percussive elements and James' signature
    vocal work throughout.

Always an astute bluesman, Robin Trower's interpretation of B.B.King's
classic Rock Me Baby retains a solid groove which allows the progressive
guitarist to power away with some very intricate fret work, making this album the
    classic that it is.

Hard rock fusion continues with more classics like his powerful soul infused
Lady Love, the spellbinding I Can't Wait Much Longer, and the tour de force,
ultimate Trower smash, Little Bit Of Sympathy. He truly rewards his fans with one
of the finest albums in his gold and platinum career.

It is with great honor that we announce the first-time, limited Anniversary
Edition, 180 Gram Audiophile release of Robin Trower's classic, Robin Trower
Live! As a continuation of our highly regarded Robin Trower/Friday Music
180 Gram Audiophile Series, this fine recording is mastered from the original
Chrysalis Records' tapes by Joe Reagoso (Robin Trower, Jeff Beck, Deep Purple,
Yes) at Friday Music Studios and Capitol Records in Hollywood, CA.

Also for this rare anniversary edition, we will be presenting the original
LP cover artwork, not seen in decades, featuring all of the art elements you
remember from this incredible 1976 career album for Robin Trower.

    Terms Of My Surrender

John Hiatt adds another chapter to his storied career with the release of Terms Of My Surrender. Produced by longtime collaborator and Combo member, Doug Lancio, Terms of My Surrender is rooted in the blues. It adds an exciting dynamic to one of America's finest singer-songwriters.

Hiatt and his band, The Combo, have gained a reputation for captivating crowds at their live shows as The Tennessean depicts: He prowls the stage, delivering the bluesy stuff in a whiskey-burn howl, shouting the rock stuff and fronting a formidable band that can turn on a dime, from ballads to bombast. John Hiatt's career as a performer and songwriter has spanned more than 30 years and everyone from Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, BB King, Bonnie Raitt and Iggy Pop has covered his work.

    Blues and Beyond

Housed in an awesome double gatefold "AxeWax" vinyl, Blues And Beyond features a number of Gary Moore's blues studio recordings, most of which have never appeared on vinyl.

Best known for his evocative solo hits, "Parisienne Walkways" and
"Still Got the Blues" (live versions feature in this set), and his on/
off membership of Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore's solo career comprises
over twenty albums. Throughout the 1980s, Gary moved up the rock
hierarchy, but turned his back on what he regarded as the empty
flash of metal and reverted to his heart music-the blues-where
ironically he scored his biggest commercial success through his
    1990s and 2000s blues albums.

As well as running his own bands, during a successful solo career,
Gary mixed with the best that rock and blues could offer, playing
live and on record with George Harrison, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker,
Greg Lake, BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins and many others.
Gary was also the guitarist many looked up to, not just for the
terrifying speed of his fretwork, but for the passion, fire and
    honesty in his playing.

    ALIVE In Amsterdam

On November 28th 2015, Walter Trout took the stage at Amsterdam's Opulent Royal Theater Carre for a captivating live performance that showcased the blues-rock legend at full-throttle. With songs pulled from every era of his five-decade career, the 'ALIVE In Amsterdam' set is potent, From the stinging Luther Allison cover "I'm Back," to the plaintive B.B. King tribute "Say Goodbye To The Blues," which builds from neck-tingling guitar swells to a stunning virtuoso climax. 'Battle Scars' is well-represented by the harmony-bolstered rocker "Almost Gone" and the raucous "Tomorrow Seems So Far Away," while Trout is joined by his son Jon for "Rock Me Baby," and even finds time for a fistful of fan favorites, including "The Love That We Once Knew" and "Marie's Mood."

'ALIVE In Amsterdam' is the sound of a man announcing his resurrection after a period on the ropes. As Trout's army of international fans are painfully aware, recent times have taken the bandleader to the brink, hollowing a bleak diagnosis of life-threatening liver failure and hepatitis C in 2013. Trout's rebirth began with a successful transplant in may 2014, and gathered speed with 2015's 'Battle Scars': the acclaimed studio album that channeled his near-death experience into raw autobiographical songs.

Urgent, impassioned, and electrifying, ALIVE In Amsterdam is a live album to treasure. Walter Trout is on tour all this year, stopping off at some of the most prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Ryman Auditorium, as well as festivals in the US and Europe including Lead Belly and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festivals. Trout always shows you magic in the studio, but it's on stage where he truly comes alive!

    Howard Tate

Singer Howard Tate cracked the R&B Top 20 three times in the late 1960s, left music and endured hardship and anonymity for nearly 30 years and beginning in the early 2000s returned to his rightful place as one of America's most revered soul performers.

Tate was born in Macon, Georgia, in 1939 and moved with his family to Philadelphia as a young boy. In his teens, he joined a north Philadelphia gospel group, the Gainors, that also featured to-be star Garnet Mimms. The group recorded in the early 1960s for Mercury Records and Cameo Records before Tate left to become the featured singer of organist Bill Doggett's group.

In the mid-'60s, Mimms urged producer Jerry Ragovoy to check out Tate, and from 1966 to 1969 Tate and Ragovoy recorded about 10 singles, the first for the Utopia label, the rest for Verve. Ain't Nobody Home (1966), Look At Granny Run Run (1966) and Stop (1967), all written or co-written by Ragovoy, each charted R&B Top 20. But to rock audiences, Tate was best known as the original performer of Get It While You Can, which became one of Janis Joplin's signature tunes. Tate's debut album, Get It While You Can, was released in 1966 to tremendous acclaim. Rolling Stone called the album a spectacular showcase of suave, muscular good-powered singing, heavily influenced by Sam Cooke, with a joyous, shrieking falsetto that became Tate's trademark.

Tate recorded a few more singles for Lloyd Price's label, Turntable, before reuniting briefly with Ragovoy for sessions on Atlantic. After one more single on Epic in 1974, Tate all but vanished. Despite his success, he was unhappy with how the music business was treating him, never having seen any royalties.

Tate sold securities in the New Jersey and Philadelphia areas into the 1980s when he succumbed to substance abuse and endured a very tumultuous period of homelessness and personal loss. He turned his life around and began work as a minister and counselor in the early 1990s. Then in 2001, a musician Tate had toured with back in the 1960s saw him in a supermarket and within hours Tate's old producer, Jerry Ragovoy, was calling, resulting in a return to the studio for the Grammy-nominated Rediscovered. He followed up with Howard Tate Live in 2006, A Portrait Of Howard - with guests Lou Reed, Carla Bley and Larry Goldings - in 2007 and Blue Day in 2008.

Music luminaries have recognized and celebrated Tate's trademark voice throughout the years, with Elvis Costello calling him the missing link between Jackie Wilson and Al Green. Among the well-known musicians that have covered songs originally recorded by Tate are Joplin (Get It While You Can), Jimi Hendrix (Stop), Hugh Masekela (Stop), B.B. King (Ain't Nobody Home), Ry Cooder (Look At Granny Run Run) and Grand Funk Railroad (Look At Granny Run Run).

Alive At Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary

Until it closed in 2009, Tennessee's Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary was one of the most notorious penal institutions in America. Located in mountainous Petros, it was a forbidding rockpile hewn out of the rough countryside by its own inmates in 1896.

On Oct. 17, 2001, Mark Collie came to Brushy Mountain with a sheaf of newly written songs about crime and punishment and an all-star band for a pair of performances that were recorded for a live album release. Mostly, though, Collie showed up at Brushy Mountain with a mission.

God gave me the opportunity to get in there and share something that might make a difference, he says. I believed the songs could matter. I wanted to make something that people could find hope in, or redemption, or restoration, or forgiveness.

His close friendship with country icon Johnny Cash supplied the principal inspiration for his own prison recording. Collie was well aware of Cash's celebrated 1968-69 live albums recorded at California's Folsom and San Quentin penitentiaries. He also knew the impact that a 1959 performance at the latter facility had on Inmate #A-45200, better known as the legendary country star Merle Haggard. Without Johnny going to San Quentin, Collie says, there might not have been a Merle Haggard. A lot of lives were changed or made better as a result of that music. Collie began writing his own cycle of prison songs.

A top-flight crew of musicians was assembled, including guitarist Dave Grissom (John Mellencamp, Joe Ely), keyboardist Mike Utley (Jimmy Buffett, the Dixie Flyers), guitarist-mandolinist Tommy Burroughs (Memphis Riverbluff Clan), Collie's longtime accordionist Hassel Tekkle, bassist Willie Weeks (the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, B.B. King), drummer Chad Cromwell (Neil Young, Mark Knopfler), and guitarist-fiddler-vocalist and solo star Shawn Camp. Austin-based critics darling Kelly Willis, who takes lead vocals on two tracks, also supplied backup vocals on several numbers; the late Texas blues giant Clarence Gatemouth Brown is the album's other special guest.

Alive at Brushy Mountain embraces a breadth of American styles - country, blues, gospel, bluegrass, and rock n roll. It largely comprises striking original material, which contemplates the convict's lot with compassion, keen detail, and sometimes boisterous humor.

Keep It Simple (2004) is the seventh studio album by blues artist Keb' Mo'. The album won a Grammy in 2005 for best contemporary Blues album, and features Robben Ford, Robert Cray, Vince Gill a.o.

Keb' Mo' crafted a warm, wry, Blues-informed version of Pop Americana that wrestles with contemporary problems like how to pay the mortgage, the high price of coffee, or how to afford a vacation. This is the first ever vinyl release of this great album!

Over the past two decades Keb' Mo' (born Kevin Moore) has cultivated a reputation as a modern master of American roots music through his live and studio performances. His songs have been recorded by the likes of B.B. King, Buddy Guy, the Dixie Chicks, Joe Cocker and Robert Palmer.

And he's no stranger to acting. His acting career began in the early '90s, and in 1998 Keb' Mo' portrayed Robert Johnson in the documentary Can't You Hear the Wind Howl. Other acting jobs include his role as the ghostly bluesman Possum in the 2007 movie Honeydripper. But Keb stresses that his focus will always be on making music and being a communicator, a songwriter.

Featuring Bonnie Raitt & Jackson Browne

Just Like You is the third album by three-time American Grammy Award-winning blues musician Keb' Mo' (born Kevin Moore). Keb'Mo' has been described as a living link to the seminal Delta blues that travelled up the Mississippi River and across the expanse of America. His post-modern Blues style is influenced by many eras and genres, including Folk, Rock, Jazz and Pop.

Originally released in 1996, the album features guest artists Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt, both on the title track Just Like You. Unlike the first album, Just Like You features a more Blues-Pop to Blues Rock feel and more of its tracks feature a full band. The album was produced by John Porter (Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Taj Mahal, a.o.).

In 1997, Just Like You won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. This is the first ever vinyl issue of this classic album!
