With the Beatles is a sequel of the highest order -- one that betters the original by developing its own tone and adding depth. While it may share several similarities with its predecessor -- there is an equal ratio of covers-to-originals, a familiar blend of girl group, Motown, R&B, pop, and rock, and a show tune that interrupts the flow of the album -- With the Beatles is a better record that not only rocks harder, it's considerably more sophisticated. They could deliver rock & roll straight (I Wanna Be Your Man) or twist it around with a little Latin lilt (Little Child, one of their most underrated early rockers); Lennon and McCartney wrote sweet ballads (the achingly gorgeous All I've Got to Do) and sprightly pop/rockers (All My Loving) with equal aplomb; and the propulsive rockers (It Won't Be Long) were as richly melodic as slower songs (Not a Second Time).

Beatles For Sale (Awaiting Repress)

The Beatles for sale is the fourth Studio Album from The Beatles. After Lennon met Bob Dylan on tour, an influence immediatley swept him over and crept into his song writing. A good example of this are the songs, I Don't Want To Spoil The Party and I'm a Loser, This album also has the band back to doing a slew of covers due to there rigorous touring schedule but still being able to create great compositions like I Feel Fine and its B-side, She's a Woman, which for some reason were not included on the album.
Being at the height of Beatlemania and the forth Beatles record in 21 months, most of the song writing and production were done either in the studio or on days off from performances, with the bulk of the album being done in about three weeks. When finally released on December 4th, 1964, it began a 46-week long run in the charts knocking there last album off the top of the charts for seven weeks.

Even in the weird, quirky world of new wave and post-punk in the late '70s, the B-52's' eponymous debut stood out as an original. Unabashed kitsch mavens at a time when their peers were either vulgar or stylish, the Athens quintet celebrated all the silliest aspects of pre-Beatles pop culture -- bad hairdos, sci-fi nightmares, dance crazes, pastels, and anything else that sprung into their minds -- to a skewed fusion of pop, surf, avant-garde, amateurish punk, and white funk. On paper, it sounds like a cerebral exercise, but it played like a party.
The jerky, angular funk was irresistibly danceable, winning over listeners dubious of Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson's high-pitched, shrill close harmonies and Fred Schneider's campy, flamboyant vocalizing, pitched halfway between singing and speaking. It's all great fun, but it wouldn't have resonated throughout the years if the group hadn't written such incredibly infectious, memorable tunes as Planet Claire, Dance This Mess Around, and, of course, their signature tune, Rock Lobster. These songs illustrated that the B-52's' adoration of camp culture wasn't simply affectation -- it was a world view capable of turning out brilliant pop singles and, in turn, influencing mainstream pop culture. It's difficult to imagine the endless kitschy retro fads of the '80s and '90s without the B-52's pointing the way, but The B-52's isn't simply an historic artifact -- it's a hell of a good time.1. Jerk And Twine TimeOut of print in its original LP format for nearly half a century, this vintage '60s gem has been sourced from the original mono tapes and pressed on 180 gram vinyl, with complete original cover art.
Jerk and Twine Time emphasizes the raw immediacy of the Knickerbockers' origins as a live band. Beyond the dance-craze anthem "Jerk Town" and the venerable R&B instrumental "Twine Time," the set offers a memorable mix of the British Invasion, R&B and Motown covers that dominated the band's live repertoire at the time, with memorable renditions of the Zombies' "She's Not There" and the Kinks anthems "You Really Got Me" and "All Day and All of the Night." They also tear into the Kingsmen's garage novelty "The Jolly Green Giant," the Motown standard "Money (That's What I Want)" and the R&B classics "Land of 1000 Dances" and "The 'In' Crowd."
Although the Knickerbockers hailed from Bergenfield, New Jersey, anyone listening to the radio in early 1966 would have sworn that they were from Liverpool. That's when the band's overpoweringly infectious signature tune "Lies" stormed the AM airwaves, convincing many stateside listeners that they were hearing a fab new Beatles single.1. A two-volume set tying up loose ends, single releases and B-sides. But frankly, when your loose ends include 'Hey Jude', then it still probably qualifies as essential listening. There's a bit of filler here (nobody but a Germanic completist needs to hear 'Sie Liebt Dich') but there are a lot of absolute classics, especially on disc 2, which includes the barrelhouse 'Lady Madonna', the droning psychedelic 'Rain' (the whole of Oasis's career in one song) and Harrison's lovely 'Old Brown Shoe'. It ends with their final B-side, 'You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)'.

WARB-NON-3335xThe Black Keys
El CaminoReviewing The Black Keys' 2010 Top Ten breakthrough album Brothers, Rolling Stone called the duo a two-man combo with a big-band mind. That description seems downright prophetic now. With the hard-rocking El Camino, The Black Keys' fourth Nonesuch release, guitarist-singer Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney conjure up an exhilarating, stadium-sized sound in collaboration with producer and friend Danger Mouse. El Camino boasts a no-nonsense brilliance: The pace is fast, the mood is upbeat, the choruses unfailingly addictive made for shouting along, preferably in a large, sweaty crowd.
A band already at the top of its game has gotten even better. And The Black Keys have done pretty damn well so far this year, with three 2011 Grammy awards for Brothers under their belt, an MTV Video Music Award for Tighten Up, more than 850,000 copies of Brothers sold in the U.S., and upwards of a million units worldwide, plus innumerable licensing placements in film, TV, and commercials. El Camino features one stand-out track after another, such as first single Lonely Boy, Gold on the Ceiling, and the surprising, acoustic-guitar-driven, tempo-shifting Little Black Submarines.
This record is more straight ahead rock and roll raw, driving, and back to basics, says Auerbach. As Carney has put it, The Black Keys respect the past while being in the present, and that formula has made them sound like nothing less than the future of rock and roll. While the largely self-produced Brothers, recorded at the famed Muscle Shoals Studio in Alabama, had a more soul and blues-oriented sound, El Camino often recalls the blitzkrieg-paced British-style rock of the 1960s and 70s, post-Beatles and pre-punk: artists like T-Rex, The Sweet, and Gary Glitter, along with the heavier swing of such bands as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.
The references are there, but the sound is very much contemporary and utterly their own, equally informed by The Black Keys' passion for hip hop and R&B and bolstered by the atmospheric production approach of Danger Mouse (a.k.a. Brian Burton), who was behind the boards for 2008's Attack & Release and collaborated with them on the funky Tighten Up for Brothers. As Auerbach notes, Brian understands all the different kinds of music we're into. He's got really great ideas about melody and song structure. For him it's all about the song. Also rejoining them is consistently innovative mixing engineer Tchad Blake, who Auerbach calls a genius with audio, a complete wizard.
El Camino arrives just in time to serve as the ideal holiday gift for The Black Keys' rapidly growing fan base. It came together quickly in an unfettered burst of creativity by the hard-charging pair. They recorded these 11 tracks between tour dates for Brothers at Auerbach's new Easy Eye Studio in Nashville, where he and Carney have now relocated after years of working in their native Akron, Ohio. The duo plans to embark on a six week European Tour at the start of the New Year, with U.S. dates to follow shortly thereafter-including several arenas.
In a time of global austerity, The Black Keys work simply and efficiently, with a minimum of tools and a wealth of ideas, to produce the richest, fattest, coolest music around. Upon the release of Brothers last year, Britain's Uncut magazine called them one of the best rock'n'roll bands on the planet, and El Camino, confirms that.1. Lonely Boy

The MasterplanFollowing a British rock tradition initiated by the Beatles and lovingly inherited by the Jam and the Clash, Oasis is the only band of the era to offer fans extra tracks on their singles that are often as good as, if not better than, the hits. Rather than saving his new songs for the next full album, Noel Gallagher prefers immediacy. Thus, this compilation of those various B-Sides works just great as a listening experience, offering metallic rushes (Acquiesce, The Swamp Song) and absolute melodic beauty (Talk Tonight, the marvelous Rockin' Chair), while conjuring up the ghosts of Mott the Hoople, T. How Glad I AmNancy Wilson was one of the biggest stars of the 1960s; until the Beatles came along, she was the biggest-selling artist on the Capitol Records roster. The title track of the singles collection How Glad I Am was Wilson's biggest hit of the era and won a Grammy in 1964. While How Glad I Am is a tart, country-flavored soul number, the album also features Wilson doing vocal pop, jazz-blues (the juicy, Hammond B-3-filled West Coast Blues is the set's best number), R&B, and bossa nova. - Nick Dedina (AllMusic)1. Lost Recordings And Beat Rarities7 Vinyl Box Set w/ 20 Lost Tracks & Hard-To-Find Gems!
This highly resonant set acts as a guidebook to many of the missing links behind the one British beat group who, more than any other, stayed neck-and-neck with the Beatles throughout the 60s. In terms of quality single releases with irresistible chart appeal (15 Top Ten 45s in the U.K.) and pure musical evolution, there is no doubt the Hollies breathed the same rarefied air as the Fab Four.
The Hollies Lost Recordings and Beat Rarities collects 20 long-buried tracks and hard-to-find gems, ranging from rare U.S. and British singles to EP rarities and unissued songs, all perfectly ripe for release as an original Hollies 45, whether that happened or not. Follow the group from their first single (released in May of 1963), the savage Aint That Just Like Me b/w Hey Whats Wrong With Me, through their discotheque dance floor raves: Come On Back, What Kind of Love and She Said Yeah. Swoon to their swingin ballad Yes I Will, groove with their jazzy Honey and Wine and float to outer space with All The World is Love. Discover an impossible-to-find, spy-style double-sider the Hollies did for a 1967 Italian movie, and groove to unreleased tracks cut while on tour in New York City in 1965, then marvel at an extremely scarce cover of the Beatles If I Needed Someone, tracked at Abbey Road, revered recording home to both groups.
Sundazed has collected a pirates ransom of tracks here, nearly all unavailable on any original English or American Hollies album. Delivered now via the supremely cool format of 45RPM vinyl, each single is loaded with guaranteed disk jockey dance-floor magic that only further cements the Hollies reputation as the coolest Manchester band, ever!Single 1

Living DaylightMichael Rault is a Toronto based singer, guitarist and songwriter fronting his own eponymously named band. A gifted multi-instrumentalist and arranger, his hooky blend of pop rock refracts an evolution of guitar based music through the ages. An era-defying mischievousness defines his synthesis of jukebox R'n'B, and acid psych as refracted through the experience of an adolescence spent idolizing the clever craftsmanship of the Beatles and the wiggy New Orleans textures of Dr. John in equal measure. As a recent transplant from his native Edmonton, the album is a melodically adventurous take on a classic theme - leaving home to make your way in the big city. Produced and recorded in collaboration with Renny Wilson (Mint Records), Living Daylight is a dynamic fusion of the past and future. An inclination for early Rock N' Roll is perverted by a heady production sensibility akin to the warped contemporary psych of Tame Impala. As a document of oddball DIY songwriting Living Daylight fits nicely in the lineage of records created by Ex-Edmontonian contemporaries like Mac Demarco or Sean Nicholas Savage. David JonesMonkees 50th Anniversary Of Davy Jones' Super Rare 1965 Debut Album
First Time 180 Gram Vinyl With Gatefold Cover
Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso At Friday Music & Capitol Mastering
Featuring What Are We Going To Do & Bob Dylans' It Ain't Me Babe
Only in America can a young lad from Manchester, England break into show business playing The Artful Dodger in Oliver in New York City...winning accolades and a Tony Award nomination from the theater world one day.... and then mastering his craft on The Ed Sullivan Show the same night of The Beatles huge breakthrough, then signing a deal with Colpix Records the same night! A year later, he and three other gents became runaway teen idols on television, topping the charts all over the world as The Monkees, outselling The Beatles for a period and maintaining the coveted number one slot with several hit singles and albums over the next few years ..... Only in America.
This isn't make believe. It is the fabulous rise to fame in a hurry story courtesy of a superstar pop rock legend Davy Jones ..and the massive recording career that started with his long out of print first album David Jones.
Recorded throughout 1965 with a bevy of the hottest songwriters in the Columbia Pictures stable, this pop gem contained the rudiments of a major career which has endured for many years since.
Prior to his untimely death in 2012, Davy proudly noted to Friday Music "Did you know that Dream Girl went to number one in Australia?" Relaying the fact that Philly artist Van McCoy wrote this northern soul sounding track, Jones truly smiled at the U.K. term as this song had the arrangements and feel of r&b bands of the day like The Drifters and The Shirelles. This soulful side of Davy Jones would later show up on The Monkees hits like She Hangs Out, A Man Without A Dream and Forget That Girl.
The album's second single What Are We Going To Do? was a slight departure. It followed more of a Brit pop feel, and it warranted solid chart exposure as well as appearances on national TV shows like Shindig!
The brightest stars of the classic pop era also contributed to this album and would soon follow Davy Jones on his path to Monkeemania. Superstars like Carole King/Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, David Gates from Bread, Toni Wine who would later sing lead vocals on The Archies records and Bob Dylan with It Ain't Me Babe, which was also a hit for The Turtles that same year.
Friday Music is proud to offer this fine album for the first time in fifty years! This first time 180 gram audiophile vinyl Lp is now mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (The Monkees) from the super rare Colpix Records stereo tapes, which truly shows a transition from pop crooner to future rock star.
In 1967, the David Jones l.p. charted thanks to his rise to fame as a member of The Monkees and the album cover was cleverly featured in The Monkees TV show episode, Monkees At The Movies.

In The NowIn The Now is the new solo album from Barry Gibb, the surviving member of one of music s most successful and revered bands, the Bee Gees, formed with his brothers Robin and Maurice. Produced by Barry and co-producer John Merchant, In The Now is only the second solo effort of Gibb's career and his first album of all new material since the Bee Gees final studio album in 2001.
The new album is an impassioned solo effort that signals a welcome return of one of the most identifiable and versatile voices in the history of rock, pop, and R&B. The 12-track album was recorded in Miami with the same gathering of accomplished musicians Barry assembled for his acclaimed 2014 solo tour. And Barry has kept In The Now a family affair, writing all the songs with his sons Stephen and Ashley. Commenting on working with his sons, Barry said, 'We've been writing together for a long long time - my eldest son Stephen and my second eldest son Ashley. So in a very spiritual way it's not my three brothers, it's my two sons. But it still works the same way. I'm a better writer if I'm writing with somebody.
Barry proudly admits, All of the feelings that I've ever had in life are all in this album.
Barry Gibb has had a phenomenal career. As a founding member of the Bee Gees, along with his brothers Robin and Maurice, Barry Gibb has sold more than 220 million albums worldwide. Between Robin, Maurice, and Andy, the Gibb brothers achieved 19 number one records on the Billboard charts including a phenomenal 6 in a row, equaling The Beatles record. As a record producer/songwriter, Barry has been instrumental in creating milestones for other artists, ranging from Barbra Streisand's 'Guilty' album to Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers country record 'Islands In The Stream' also, Diana Ross 'Eaten Alive featuring 'Chain Reaction' as well as Dionne Warwick's 'Heartbreaker' album.LP 1

Supreme Rarities: Motown Lost & Found (1960-1969) (Box Set)4x 180-Gram Box Set
Includes 45 Unreleased-On-Vinyl Tracks
All Sleeves Are Stoughton Tip-On With Amazing Full Color Restored Photos And Notes
As the hometown girls who conquered the world, Diana Ross and the Supremes are inarguably the most successful, highest selling girl group of all time. From their inauspicious start as the long-forgotten Primettes, to their ascension past the moniker of ''no-hit Supremes'' through the ranks of Motown's rank-and-file to globe-trotting superstars, this group is as pure and quintessential Detroit Motor City as you can get.
Originally released on 2xCD in in 2008, the Supremes ''Supreme Rarities'' from the Motown Lost & Found Series collects from the depths of the label archives to showcase the rarities, the outtakes and the incomparable live recordings from this inimitable group of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Listen to the story unfold from the innocent teenaged doo-wop of ''You Can Depend On Me'' from 1960 all the way through the slick, socially-conscious refinement of ''I'm Livin' in Shame'' from 1969. Aside a handful of forgotten vinyl releases decades ago, the majority of this material has not been released on vinyl. Until now.
Third Man, in a unique partnership with Universal Music, has taken this double-CD and turned it into a glorious 4xLP collection housed in an impeccably-designed slipcase, all watercolor pastel vibrant photos highlight how absolutely impeccable this group is.
Of particular interest is that ''Supreme Rarities'' are the first Motown records EVER pressed in the city of Detroit. Diana Ross attended high school at Cass Tech, a mere mile away from Third Man Pressing where these this title was lovingly pressed, which is also just a mile away from the Brewster-Douglass Housing Projects where Ross and fellow Supremes Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard all grew up.
The 48 tracks included here include the earliest Primettes tracks, invigorating covers of The Rolling Stones ''Satisfaction'' and the Beatles ''I Saw Her Standing There'', along with renditions of hits for OTHER Motown artists like ''Mickey's Monkey'' and ''Uptight (Everything's Alright)'' in addition to alternate vocal takes of stone cold certified smashes like ''You Can't Hurry Love'' and ''Someday We'll Be Together.'' And if you want the hits medley, ''Come See About Me'', ''Baby Love'' and ''Stop! In the Name of Love'' will wonderfully whet your appetite.
