    The Believer

The Believer is a jazz album credited to John Coltrane originally released in 1964 on Prestige Records, catalogue 7292. It is an amalgam of two tracks reissued from New Jazz Records 8228 The Ray Draper Quintet featuring John Coltrane released in 1960, with three unissued tracks by Coltrane as a leader from two separate recording sessions in 1958. All tracks were recorded at the studio of Rudy Van Gelder in Hackensack, New Jersey. As Coltrane's fame grew during the 1960s long after he had stopped recording for the label, Prestige assembled varied recordings, often those where Coltrane had been merely a sideman, and reissued them as a new album with Coltrane's name prominently displayed.

    Believe

After the double-platinum, Top 30 success of Y2K's The Sickness, the Chicago metal quartet Disturbed is back with a much-anticipated sophomore album. Believe is more of everything that made the band's debut album such a phenomenon - more melodic, more intense, more metal, even more powerful. Says the band: In an age of nothing, at a time when we stand at the brink of our own destruction - strengthen your belief, in yourself, in the future of humanity, in the things of this world which cannot easily be perceived...When it seems that all you have left are the dead remnants of the fabric of your life - Believe.

    I Believe

    Translucent Orange Colored Vinyl

    Limited Edition - 1000 Copies

The third album, I Believe, was released in 2001, after which Haden took an extended break from the band, recording a solo album for Dreamworks Records (later released on his own Diamond Soul Recordings).

"Strip most music of its fashionable, genre-specific accoutrements and there's precious little left. Except country, perhaps. It's with this in mind that Los Angelenos Spain go about their lovelorn business. There are no frills, no zeitgeist nods here, just the simplicity of the strum, the slide and the hushed confessions of Josh Haden - son of jazz bassist Charlie and disciple of the songwriter's old skool.

"Three albums in, 'I Believe' is a substantial offering awash with humble entreaties and doe-eyed, lounge affectations. Sure, the moniker may flirt outrageously with Monsieur Schmaltz, but there really are some sweet, sweet sounds lurking beneath the initially perceived pretence. The slow-mo beauty of 'Mary' showcases Haden's almost electronic, pitch-perfect coo (and with all genre gimmicks gone, the voice has to be exact), while the self-explanatory, nu-prairie hum of 'You Were Meant For Me' betrays a romantic absolutism that Nick Cave would be proud of.

Make Believe on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity

2005 Platinum Set Nominated for Grammy Award, Streaked With Optimism and Personal Lyrics

Weezer's Most Balanced, Ambitious, and Diverse Record

Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Rick Rubin's Sleek, Layered Production Now Reveals More Details and Subtle Cues

Following four acclaimed albums filled with power-pop, Weezer swings for the fences on Make Believe. Expanding its ambitions, arrangements, and diversity, and helmed by mega-producer Rick Rubin, the 2005 record ranks as the band's most diverse and balanced effort. It's also the group's longest set distinguished by more personal lyrics inspired by leader Rivers Cuomo's meditation sessions. Anchored by four radio-charting singles, and streaked with cautious optimism, Make Believe remains a compelling intersection of sleek, new wave and big, meaty arena-rock bluster.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's reissue affirms Make Believe as the best-sounding record of Weezer's career by allowing Rubin's finessed sonics to showcase the instrumentation and subtle cues embedded in the layers of production. Previously buried or obscured, strings and pianos give extra body and shape to certain songs, while the quartet-buttressed by the brawnier, richer studio techniques-comes across as bigger than ever before. Drums, in particular, strongly benefit from Rubin's experience and ear.

Opening with "Beverly Hills," a chant-a-long anthem that immediately hypnotizing the senses with bleacher-stomping momentum and dorky talk-box solo, Make Believe takes amusing aim at haute-couture culture and fickle materialism here and on the farcical "We Are All On Drugs," each song informed by Cuomo's observations while living in California. Silly, witty, quirky-it's requisite Weezer, and uses a sense of humor to counteract the more serious sides of the album.

As he did on Pinkerton, Cuomo revisits intimate feelings and fears of loneliness, drawing from his break-up with his girlfriend to themes of forgiveness. Make Believe represents both a musical and emotional evolution, wherein Weezer embraces different styles (new wave, harder-edged rock, irony-free ballads) and hints at sincere hopefulness. Two of the effort's biggest singles ("This Is Such a Pity," "Perfect Situation") breathe with an endearing sympathy that steers clear of cynicism or sarcasm. Where the quartet previously opted for self-flagellation when it came to romance, songs here indicate Cuomo and Co. content to move on and let go.

Similarly, Cuomo wrote the nerves-exposed "The Other Way" for his ex-girlfriend after her boyfriend passed away. Undercurrents of self-analysis, apology, and resolution run throughout the material and affirm a maturation that nevertheless avoids sacrificing Weezer's hallmark hooks and melodies. As Rolling Stone writer Rob Sheffield noted in his review of Make Believe, "Not since Brian Wilson has an L.A.-pop mastermind gotten such musical mileage out of wanting to be an ordinary guy, not realizing that his psychosexual freakitude is exactly what makes him one."

    You Won't Believe It

Formed in the early '50s under the watchful eye of
Tuskegee, Alabama, transplant Charles Chambliss, the
Sensational Saints were handpicked from a Cleveland
clothing store, a pool room, and from a group of friends
singing from a third story window. After years spent
rotating members and issuing stray singles for assorted
    non-denominational imprints, the group connected
with the vocally inclined Reverend Melvin Kenniebrew at
the close of the '60s, making good on their "Sensational"
boast. "With God in their hearts and singing on their
minds," the Sensational Saints mounted their crown
jewel in 1973 with "You Won't Believe It" (Try It You'll
Like Us). Pressed in conservative quantities by local
gospel magnate James Bullard on his King James label,
the group's lone long-player perfectly encapsulates the
intersection of funk and gospel as only the religious
conversion of a Bill Wither's tune can do.

    You Must Believe In Spring

You Must Believe In Spring is an album by jazz pianist Bill Evans recorded in August 1977. This well-rounded set features the highly influential pianist Bill Evans in a set of typically sensitive trio performances. With his longtime bassist Eddie Gomez and his drummer of the period, Eliot Zigmund, Evans explores such songs as We Will Meet Again, Jimmy Rowles's classic The Peacocks and the Theme from M*A*S*H. It's a solid example of the great pianist's artistry.

In Evans' hands, melodies and time signatures are often more whispered, more shadowed, than stated, as in the opening B Minor Waltz (For Ellaine) and the somber, reflective title track, which blossoms, after Gomez' mid-song solo. Evans boasted such a unique, unmistakable touch-emotional and beautiful and even soft, but never sweet. As a rule, Evans could pick up the program from an elementary school chorus festival and play it inventively and beautifully. This set is no exception.

    Do You Believe In Magic

    180 Gram R.T.I. Vinyl Pressing

From the Original Kama Sutra Mono Masters

Greenwich Village, 1964: While the folk boom is still in progress, other musics began seeping into the corners and clubs of lower Manhattan. Rock, once down for the count, came back with a vengeance, largely thanks to a klatch of young British bands. Roots music, especially blues, grew rapidly in popularity as folk enthusiasts expanded their horizons. In this intoxicating milieu, John Sebastian, Zal Yanovsky, Joe Butler and Steve Boone united to form the Lovin' Spoonful. Originally a jug band with folk roots, they readily incorporated the sounds they heard all around them. Combining British Invasion jangle with the blues' growl and folk's attention to lyrical detail, they forged a sound completely their own. Accomplished musicians all, they had two secret weapons: the guitar virtuosity of Zal Yanovsky and the rising songwriting talent of John Sebastian.

The first Spoonful single, "Do You Believe in Magic," took AM radio by storm in June of that year, reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Featuring an irrepressible melody, a chiming autoharp and Yanovsky's tasteful fills, it was an audacious debut. Their inaugural Kama Sutra LP, also titled Do You Believe in Magic, followed in November 1965. Containing three other Sebastian originals and one song credited to the band, the balance of the LP contained traditional blues covers and songs by contemporary writers. Reaching #32 on the Billboard Top 200, it established the band as one of country's brightest new talents.

By the release of their second album, Daydream, in March 1966, the band's songwriting chops had fully blossomed, particularly Sebastian's, who wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs. The album's first single, "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice" reached #10 on the Hot 100 and married a signature Yanovsky riff with a galloping piano part to form an indelible hook. The title track, a mid-tempo reverie with an ace whistling solo, did even better, soaring to #2. Skipping ahead a few decades, the album cut "Butchie's Tune" was used to great effect in season five of Mad Men.

The band soon returned with Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful. Consciously working in different styles, the band essayed country ("Nashville Cats"), folk balladry ("Rain on the Roof") and psych- tinged rock ("Summer in the City"), among other sounds. This time, all the songs were originals and it was the last full album recorded by the original quartet. It stands as a triumphant ending to one of the most exciting chapters in the American rock story of the 1960s, a perfect encapsulation of a time when it seemed anything was possible in music. Sourced from the original Kama Sutra mono masters, these masterpieces are pressed at RTI on 180gm vinyl.

    Master Of My Make Believe

Santigold is Santi White: an artist whose perseverance relies on invention, a champion who survives off her own skill and faith. She is a major muse watched by the inspired world, an in categorical performer who collapses time and genre with one hand guided by tradition, while the other hand carves out a shining future. Santigold is neither calm nor mayhem, but from her lungs burst every color in between.

After four years of hide and seek in which blogs blew up at the sudden release of any track with her name attached to it, Santigold returns in a moment of global aggression and vulnerability. Honing in on the hyper-media cult of personality, in her unmistakable voice she asks the listener: Into what fantasy do you hurl yourself as you gaze into the glow of your machine? The answer to this question is central to what drives Master of My Make-Believe, her latest work to be released this spring on Atlantic Records.

As an antidote against self-celebratory status updates in a climate where the focus on fame outweighs a days emotions, Master of My Make-Believe summons pop culture zombies back to life. This is sound proof of an artist on a diligent journey, measuring the power of individual mood against social clamor. Sifting through a wondrous wreckage of airplay, upload, and anguish, Santigolds talent lies in filtering reality through freakdom, to find in desire a timeless spark of raw magic.

Anyone caught referring to Master of My Make-Believe as a sophomore effort is only half right. Though relatively fresh as Santigold, Santi Whites history of writing, production, and performance stretch beyond the centurys flip. Her collaboration with the industrys most recognized and respected talent is something continuous and wide reaching, making her musical lineage all the much richer. Declared Best Breakthrough Artist by NME in 2008 and Pop Music Vanguard by ASCAP in 2009, the voice that defines Santigold is as complex as the faces that pack a subway car, as intimate and honest as conversation on a weathered stoop.

Through chopped pianos, the clink of glass bottles, and the peaking blast of motorcycle engines, Master of My Make-Believe accounts for 21st century details of life from the hearts center to the minds periphery. In her pen and in her voice, the breadth of substance presented in Santigolds newest songs is immediate and complex. There are valleys here wherein the drudge of daily living is met with caution and confronted by mortality, but underneath it all there is the celebration of each persons power and vision to fight toward what they believe. Consider this your invitation.

Ranked 127/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Upon its release in 1966, the Mamas and the Papas debut LP If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears introduced a fresh new sound that would permanently alter the face of contemporary popular music. Leader John Phillips visionary producing, arranging and songwriting abilities combined with the quartets breathtaking harmonies to make music that was both effortlessly accessible and creatively adventurous. The album quickly topped the Billboard album chart, bringing folk-rock into the pop mainstream and making Phillips, his then-wife Michelle Phillips, Denny Doherty and Cass Elliot into instant multimedia celebrities. In the years since its release, If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears has come to be regarded as one of the finest pop albums of the 60s and one of the best debut releases ever.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears was the product of Lou Adlers visionary production, Phillips savvy studio mastery and the foursomes extended period of musical woodshedding in the Virgin Islands. The months of meticulous rehearsals paid off in the groups ability to emerge as a fully-formed musical unit right out of the box, delivering such instant classics as California Dreamin, Monday, Monday and Go Where You Wanna Go to the willing ears of record buyers and radio listeners.

At the time of If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears initial release, the presence of a toilet in the periphery of the albums cover photo caused faint-hearted moral guardians to pressure the groups record company to excise the offending fixture from subsequent pressings of the album. Sundazeds new vinyl edition of If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears restores the rare, long-missing toilet cover, and features the albums superior original mono mix. Its also mastered from the original analog tapes, and pressed on high-definition vinylthe better to maintain the same joyous sense of discovery that listeners felt when first hearing this timeless gem in 1966.

    Hard Believer

Hard Believer is the eagerly-awaited new studio album from Fink: Fin Greenall (vocals/guitar), together with Tim Thornton (drums/guitar) and Guy Whittaker (bass). It will be their first release on the R'COUP'D imprint, a label newly created by Greenall with the backing of the Ninja Tune team.

Recorded in seventeen days at Hollywood's legendary Sound Factory studios with producer Billy Bush (Garbage, Beck, Foster the People), Hard Believer is shot through with rawness and controlled aggression; an album replete with calm beginnings seguing into powerfully hypnotic loops and climactic finales. It is a masterful collection of songs from an artist at the peak of his creative powers.

"We wanted to go deeper this time, and be more ambitious with the music," Fin explains, "to move the sound forward without losing touch of where we're from."

Urban, bluesy, and alive, the album presents ten brand new songs, including the mighty "Shakespeare", a tale of young love gone tragically sour as the mood darkens from acoustic to guttural rock; the spiky yet delicate "Looking Too Closely", riding an irresistible piano-and-guitar groove; "Green and the Blue", on which a vulnerable Greenall meditates on the constants in life that see you through tough times; "Two Days Later", a deeply personal lament and one of only two songs on the record that start and remain down-tempo; and the breathtaking "Pilgrim", the latest collaboration with songwriter Blair Mackichan, co-writer of "This Is The Thing" from Fink's 2007 album Distance and Time, and "Honesty" from 2011's Perfect Darkness.

Since making the transition from world-class club DJ and electronic producer, to the first ever singer-songwriter signed to legendary British label Ninja Tune, Greenall has released four critically acclaimed albums, worked in the studio with the likes of John Legend, Ximena SariƱana, Amy Winehouse and Professor Green and enjoyed incredible live success with the hugely popular 18-month Perfect Darkness world tour, which accumulated two live records: 2012's Wheels Turn Beneath My Feet, and 2013's Fink Meets the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. All this and Fink is still a name which - while evoking an impassioned response from many a fellow artist and from the avid fanbase - remains a mystery to a wider majority. This looks set to change...

The term Hard Believer comes from deep-south Americana; it means somebody who is difficult to persuade, who requires proof. In truth, all anyone has to do here is listen to the powerful collection of songs on Hard Believer. The belief will surely follow.

Limited Edition of 500 on Audiophile Clear Vinyl

This album of music recorded in 1958 by John Coltrane when he was beginning to come into his own is appropriately titled. There can be no doubt-even in the minds of those who do not much care for his kind of jazz-that Trane is a believer. He had to be, to go his own way as uncompromisingly as he has done. And his faith in his own way did bear fruit. Limited edition of 500 copies pressed on Audiophile Clear Vinyl (ACV).

    About Audiophile Clear Vinyl

Audiophile Clear Vinyl is made using the highest quality co-polymer available and processed without any carbon additive in order to dramatically reduce the "electrical distortion" often found on records. By itself the co-polymer of vinyl is transparent. In order to make the record black in color the plant must use a carbon additive with trace metals that can become magnetized. This is what causes electrical distortion during playback. That is the reason why we choose to offer our records in the following manner:

    Non-Believers

Superchunk frontman Mac McCaughan will release Non-Believers, his first solo album under his own name. McCaughan wanted to use the album to explore his attraction to that early-'80s era of music when punk evolved into something more introspective, focusing on themes of isolation and eventually turning into post-punk and new wave. As he puts it, he was thinking about a time when bands were "using keyboards and drum machines to relate through their music a disaffection or alienation" from society, school, whatever. The record is about a fascination with art that could only be made by someone far from where you are, but who maybe shares the frustrations and awkwardness of youth. It's about "the irony that comes with being 16 and having a car but not knowing where to go in it, or having a keyboard or a guitar and not knowing how to play it." McCaughan's songwriting isn't limited to sheer nostalgia; it's also about the more relatable theme of the point when people who grow up feeling isolated have to choose if and when they are going to join the mainstream, and about the emotional journey tied to weighing those options. "What appeals to me is songs that deal with the messiness and ambiguity that come with any transitional period," says McCaughan. Given that McCaughan comes from the indie and punk rock worlds, he's always shied away from the perceived hubris of putting out a record under his own name. "There's something about it that's way too 'look at me,'" the singer and songwriter admits. However, given the fact that Non-Believers explores a very personal set of influences, putting out an album as simply Mac McCaughan for the first time just makes sense.
