Best Of Elton John'
Rock Of The WestiesRock of the Westies, originally released in October 1975, is the tenth official album release for Elton John. As with Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, Rock of the Westies debuted on the US Billboard 200 chart at No. 1, the only two albums at that time to have done so. It was less successful in the artist's home territory of the UK, where it reached No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart. Robert Christgau ranked it as No. 7 on his list of the best albums of 1975. Revamp: The Songs Of Elton John & Bernie Taupin
Bringing together a carefully curated selection of the world's biggest and best artists, Revamp sees Elton John and co-writer Bernie Taupin's best-loved songs reinterpreted by some of contemporary music's most vital talents. The album spans a breathtaking array of styles, shining a light on Elton's unparalleled influence across popular music of all genres, ranging from Hip-hop / Soul (Q-Tip, Mary J Blige) to Rock (The Killers, Queens of the Stone Age) to Pop (Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, P!nk & Logic).
"'It's always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it," says Elton. "As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp choose to add their own unique twist in the process. It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences. We're humbled and thank them all for their generosity."
Revamp arrives as follow up to Elton's ultimate greatest hits album Diamonds, released in November of 2017. Coinciding with his 70th birthday and the 50th anniversary of his phenomenal songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin, the album prompted a flurry of celebratory activity and was certified twice Gold in the UK, reaching the top 5 of the UK album chart upon its release.
Revamp stands as yet another timely reminder of John and Taupin's influence on the next generation of global stars at a time when their music continues to fill stadiums, sell albums and influence fashion. John stands alone as a true great, whose music still garners such admiration from a truly broad range of global stars.1. Bennie And The Jets - Elton John, P!nk and Logic

Restoration: The Songs Of Elton John And Bernie Taupin
Some of the world's biggest pop, rock and country artists are celebrating Elton John's most beloved and legendary catalog of hits with two albums Revamp (Island Records) and Restoration (Mercury Nashville). The superstar lineup features artists both new and iconic reinterpreting the timeless songs of the over 50 year writing partnership that Elton and Bernie Taupin share. These renditions and artists show the depth of the catalog these two icons have created, which can easily cross musical genres and their unparalleled influence across popular music of all styles.
Revamp features the hits reimagined by the best in pop, rock and urban with Mary J. Blige, Alessia Cara, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Florence And The Machine, Lady Gaga, The Killers, Mumford and Sons, P!nk and Logic, Q-Tip ft. Demi Lovato, Queens of the Stone Age, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith,
Restoration highlights countries biggest stars with thoughtful interpretations by Dierks Bentley, Rosanne Cash and Emmylou Harris, Miley Cyrus, Vince Gill and Don Henley, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson, Brothers Osborne, Chris Stapleton, Rhonda Vincent and Dolly Parton and Lee Ann Womack.
"'It's always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it," adds Elton John. "As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp & Restoration choose to add their own unique twist in the process. It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences. We're humbled and thank them all for their generosity."
"Because of our love of all kinds of music, we're not stuck in one genre," said Bernie Taupin. "From day one we borrowed from everything that's good about American music - whether it's blues, country, gospel, pop, pure rock - everything got thrown in the mix. I think that's why our music over the years has been so varied. It would be tiring if you just got stuck in one niche your entire career, especially when it's one as long as ours."
The album art for Restoration was created by Bernie. The rustic musical instruments and flags from both nations is an extension of his mixed-media art that's another form of expression. It symbolizes the role that U.S. culture and its native music has played as a driver in the John/Taupin canon.
"For me, there's an irony about the American flag," Taupin says. "It's been battered and beaten and burned, but it's resilient. It's always come back. I incorporate it with other things, and lately I've done a lot of pieces with deconstructed guitars and other found materials: barbed wire, broken bottles, things that people identify with on an everyday level. If it's on the floor and it works, I'll put it into the artwork. But it all goes hand in hand with my belief in America and my interest, I would say obsession, with Americana."
Revamp has a pop art cover based on the Terry O'Neil photograph of Elton that was recreated in neon. The covers are very different from each other because they represent totally different albums.
"We have two completely different albums; Revamp being the pop one and Restoration being the country one and God we have so many great artists doing our songs, it's quite incredible," said Elton John. "Restoration was Bernie's project and he's a huge country fan. The 'Revamp' was more my project. He came up with an astonishing list of country performers both new and legendary. On Revamp I wrote out a wish list of people that I would love and asked them and to my surprise most of them said yes and we have quite an astonishing eclectic crew."1. Rocket Man - Little Big Town

The New Hovering DogBJ Cole came to prominence in the early 1970s with the country rock outfit, Cochise. His signature pedal steel playing has marked numerous LPs including ones by T Rex, Elton John (Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water), Cat Stevens, Bjork, The Verve, Depeche Mode, Beck, Elvis Costello, David Gilmour, Emmylou Harris, Pet Shop Boys, Robert Plant, Scott Walker, and the list goes on. The man Sting once described as "the best pedal steel player in the world" is versed in many styles from pop, rock, jazz to experimental. His versatility is perhaps no better showcased than on his first solo album The New Hovering Dog; it combines poetry with orchestration and electronics with a strong cast of musicians from that era. Out of the GameRufus Wainwright returns to the pop foray with his eagerly anticipated new Decca album, Out of the Game. Produced by the celebrated Mark Ronson, this is the seventh studio album from one of music's most accomplished, contemporary singer/songwriters.
A labor of love for both Wainwright and Ronson, Rufus calls Out of the Game, "the most pop album I've ever made," while Ronson recently stated, "it's the best work of my career." Recorded in New York in the fall of 2011, the twelve songs are hook-laden, memorably arranged tracks reminiscent of Rufus' early work, following 2010's more quietly intimate outing, Songs For Lulu.
From the uptempo opening chords of the title track and first single, to the gospel tinged rock of Jericho, through the beauty of Sometimes You Need and the emotional pull of Candles, this new release ranks alongside Rufus Wainwright's very best.
Musicians on the album include the Dap-Kings who Ronson used for the groundbreaking Amy Winehouse Back To Black album and his own Record Collection; Wilco's Nels Cline; Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs; Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow; and Sean Lennon and Martha Wainwright.
Influences, as ever, were all encompassing. Ronson says Out of the Game, "has a real 70's, Laurel Canyon spirit" while Rufus cites "all the greats, Elton, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, basically the brash and beautiful. It's also very Rufus."
Affectionately referred to by Elton John as the greatest songwriter on the planet and praised by The New York Times for his "genuine originality," Grammy nominee Rufus Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. He is the son of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, and brother of Martha Wainwright, but Rufus has achieved his success by carving out his own singular sound in the worlds of rock, opera, theater, dance and film.1. Genius Loves Company (10th Anniversary) (Awaiting Repress)Upon its release in 2004, few could have predicted the extraordinary, game-changing effect that Ray Charles' final recording would have on both his career and the industry as a whole. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the legend's milestone recording, Concord/Hear Music will release a special 2LP, 45RPM, 180-gram Vinyl Edition.
One of Charles' most inspirational and historically significant albums, Genius Loves Company captures the genius of the music icon in his last studio recording pairing him with legendary guest artists including Norah Jones, Diana Krall, James Taylor, Elton John, Willie Nelson and Bonnie Raitt to name a few. The album went on to receive an astounding 8 GRAMMY® Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year. To help launch a then-groundbreaking consumer marketing campaign, Genius Loves Company was tapped as the first original release through the Starbucks Hear Music imprint in conjunction with Concord Music Group. Since its release on August 31st, 2004, Genius Loves Company has been certified multi-platinum with worldwide sales in excess of 5 million copies.
Produced by John Burk, Concord Music Group's chief creative officer, and co-produced by the legendary Phil Ramone, Genius Loves Company garnered critical acclaim upon its release. NPR All Things Considered hailed, "It's got flashes of fire you wouldn't expect from such a setting, gems of phrasing that remind you how Ray Charles transformed the wreckage of heartbreak into poignant sound," and Rolling Stone added, "the tone is reverential and warm, as the Genius sings "
"Ray was shocked that these people wanted to sing with him," recalls Ray Charles Foundation president Valerie Ervin. "He just didn't understand the magnitude of where he was in the industry. As weak as he became he made sure he gave his best for every artist that was there for him."
"Ray Charles was one of those rare artists who, throughout his incredible career, had far-reaching impact that forever changed the conventions of popular music as well as the music business," said Concord Music Group chief creative officer John Burk. "Looking back at the last 10 years, it's clear that this album was certainly no exception. We are humbled, honored and blessed to have had the opportunity to work with such a musical giant, and we are eternally grateful to Ray for elevating both Concord Records and Hear Music to new heights, far beyond our wildest dreams ten years ago."1. Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story - The Soundtrack
First-Ever Career-Spanning Compilation Features Key Tracks From Ronson's Solo Albums, Collaborations With David Bowie, Elton John, Ian Hunter, Michael Chapman And Queen And Exclusive New Contributions From Joe Elliott And Mike Garson
Pressed On 2x Heavy-Weight 180-Gram Vinyl
UMe is pleased to announce the release of Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, The Soundtrack. The album comes on the heels of the film's streaming debuts on Hulu and Amazon Prime following last year's successful theatrical run and the DVD/Blu-ray releases.
The soundtrack is the first official career retrospective compilation for the guitar virtuoso, Mick Ronson, known affectionately as Ronno. As well as highlights from Ronson's solo records, the compilation includes material from his key collaborations with David Bowie, Elton John, Ian Hunter, Michael Chapman and Queen. The album also includes a previously unreleased cover version of This Is For You by Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and a piano tribute to Ronson from Bowie's piano-man and band alumni Mike Garson (David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins). The soundtrack includes extensive essay & liner notes and will be available on heavy-weight 180-gram black vinyl.
For the career-spanning documentary, producer/director Jon Brewer (BB King: The Life of Riley, Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark, Jimi Hendrix: Guitar Hero, The Most Dangerous Band in The World) gained the unprecedented access and permission for use of materials relating to the life of rock hero Mick Ronson, who was largely commercially overlooked despite his direct contribution and pivotal involvement in countless iconic compositions of David Bowie and The Spiders from Mars.
Despite his production and guitar work with Lou Reed, Morrissey, Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and many others, it is Ronson's dynamic support, contribution, and co-creation of the expansive and multi-faceted career of David Bowie and in fact that era of music, that the film and this soundtrack exposes. Featuring exclusive narration by David Bowie and exclusive contributions by Rick Wakeman, Joe Elliott, Roger Taylor, Ian Hunter, Angie Bowie and many more, Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story is a tribute to an uncomplicated man who achieved the pinnacle of success in the music industry as well as the rarefied respect from his contemporaries for his production and guitar skills.
His humble beginnings (in the northern English city of Hull) underpinned the values and modest, unpretentious personality of Ronson. Originally working with Hull City Council while he pursued his craft with consummate dedication, word of his talent reached Bowie who grabbed at the chance to work with Ronson, and from there rock history was made. The Man Who Sold the World, Aladdin Sane, Hunky Dory and Jean Genie were all constructed with Ronno on guitar. In 1974, he was voted #2 'Best Guitarist' in Cream magazine (notably Eric Clapton came in third).
Sadly, in 1993 Ronson passed away before receiving the recognition he so richly deserved before taking that final bow, as seen on film, at his last show. He had been making a solo album at the time, which was subsequently finished by his contemporaries. Emperor Media have achieved ultimate authenticity and access in chronicling the life and works of this man, an extraordinary talent who became a cornerstone of rock music and who stood Beside Bowie during one of the most memorable periods of his dazzling career.1. OlogyThe push-and-pull that drives Gallant's music is like a pendulum swinging back and forth between genres and influences. His combination of muscular vocal acrobatics and sonic unpredictability has attracted universal tastemaker praise and a growing fan base. Complex championed the Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter as The R&B game changer, LA Times claimed, Precise writing of Frank Ocean, big vocal runs of Sam Smith, and NME predicted, the voice that will redefine R&B, while Entertainment Weekly, The Fader, Billboard, and more have shown support. Sir Elton John summed it up best saying, Gallant is gonna be huge.
Gallant has been on this pursuit since junior high. Growing up in Columbia, MD, he began tinkering on his computer and making songs after school inspired by everything from nineties R&B to classic jazz and blues. Rather than write in a journal, the music collated his feelings and emotions. He'd rarely share it with friends though. While attending NYU, he enrolled in summer school, so he could graduate early. Post-graduation and countless hours of meticulous practice later, he was finally ready to share his songs to the world at large.
His first online release If It Hurts would establish him in the blogosphere, while 2014's Zebra EP landed him on Spotify's viral charts and at the top of HypeM. Signing to Mind of a Genius in 2015 and relocating to L.A., he dove into creating what would become Ology with co-producers such as Stint. The first single Weight In Gold enjoyed its world premiere on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show as the introductory entry in the coveted World's First segment. In less than six months, it accumulated over 6.5 million Spotify streams.
As Gallant continues on his search, he leaves a message on the path. If people can hear I'm not doing this to feed any ego or serve someone else, that's all I want, he leaves off. I'm trying to create a photo album I can look back on to see where I've overcome challenges. I'm using music as a means of self-discovery. If my songs help somebody do the same thing or realize art can help us improve ourselves, I'd be honored.LP 1

Rod the Mods 1970 Landmark Set Tone for All Folk-Rock Albums That Followed
Evocative, Low-Key, and Rustic: Gasoline Alley Finds Stewart At His Peak
Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI: LP Has Never Sounded More Organic, Warm, or Transparent
Backed By Fellow Faces Ron Wood, Ronnie Lane, Ian MacLagan, Kenny Jones
Stewarts Equally Iconic Every Picture Tells A Story Also Available on LP from Silver Label
No matter what era or phase of Rod Stewart you prefer, nearly everyone is unanimous in choosing the artists early 1970s output as his very finest. Proof comes courtesy of Gasoline Alley. A 1970 record that literally set the template for all folk-rock efforts that followed, the critically acclaimed album has been cited as one of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die and remains a blueprint for evocative vocals, low-key presentation, and incredible interpretation.
Barely removed from his debut, Stewart comes into his own on Gasoline Alley, essentially a largely unplugged record on which the singer surrounds himself with a transcendent blend of acoustic guitars, mandolin, fiddle, piano, and understated percussion and channels the music with a gritty, rock n roll attitude. The results? Tough, organic, warm, swaggering, and unfettered songs that bow to country, rockabilly, blues, and folk influences all the while managing to belong to their own genre. Its just one of the reasons why Gasoline Alley remains a study in distinctive excellence.
Another is due to Stewarts passionate singing. Sensitive, understated, wistful, and raggedly worn, he inhabits the role of a journeyman that inhabits the narratives on standard-bearing covers of Bob Dylans Only a Hobo, Elton Johns Country Comforts, and the R&B shuffle Cut Across Shorty. He conveys a bevy of complex emotionssadness, regret, optimism, sorrow, loss, humor, yearningwith a poignancy that suggests every song here is disarmingly personal. Of course, having a band sympathetic to his desires and directions, and one that claims the talent of players such as guitarist Ronnie Wood and organist Ian MacLagan, doesnt hurt matters.
Mastered on Mobile Fidelitys world-renowned mastering system and pressed at RTI (America's best record plant), this numbered limited edition LP allows Gasoline Alley to come across with unrivaled warmth, organic tones, and transparent presence. The signature acoustic-electric blend of rock, blues, soul, and country crackles with energy; midrange and highs are vastly improved, affording listeners a clearer image of the Faces dynamic contributions and chemistry. And Stewarts vocals take place right in your room. Wait until you hear the inflections and contrasts.
Dont hesitate on this all-time rock and folk classic.

Where I've Been"I think this is the best work we've ever done," explains JD & The Straight Shot founder and frontman Jim Dolan of the band's latest release, Where I've Been. "I'm so proud of the music that my band and I have put together. I believe in this album."
Produced by Joe Walsh, Where I've Been features several breakthrough singles including "Governor's Song," which challenges some of today's most well-known political figures; "Under That Hood," a transformative single that tells the tragic story of Trayvon Martin; and "Hard to Find," which will be featured in the highly-anticipated film, St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy.
Dolan's day gig is Cablevision Systems CEO and Executive Chairman of Madison Square Garden, where he also oversees New York sports teams such as the Knicks and the Rangers. Music is his passion.
"I needed something in my life where I felt like I was actually creating," says Dolan. "Most of what I do as an executive is orchestrate. I don't actually set up cable and I don't really shoot hoops," he says, laughing. "Music is something I've played since I was a kid. It's me purely expressing myself."
JD & The Straight Shot's creative nucleus is Dolan and guitarist Marc Copely (B.B. King), who pen all the band's music and lyrics. Instrumentally indispensable is guitarist Aidan Dolan; keyboardist Brian Mitchell (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm); and drummer Joe Magistro (The Black Crowes). Also part of the band are some of pop music's finest session players, bassist Zev Katz (Aretha Franklin, Elton John), and violinist Erin Slaver (Rod Stewart, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride).
Dolan started JD & The Straight Shot in 2000. The band has recorded four previous albums: Midnight Run (2012), Can't Make Tears (2011), Right On Time (2008), and Nothing To Hide (2005) - as well as an EP, Daily News Blues (2010).
The band's style is steeped in the quiet fire of Americana, with distinctive elements of the blues and mystical, rustic, New Orleans-flavored roots music - topped off with a dash of the classic rock of Dolan's youth.
"I grew up on bands like the Allman Brothers," says Dolan. "We played those records until the grooves wore right off of them."
JD & The Straight Shot has been covered by The New York Times, Billboard, and New York Magazine, among other publications, and performed on "Good Day New York." Their song "Can't Make Tears" is the theme song for AMC's TV show Hell on Wheels, and their music has been featured in many films, including the critically acclaimed August: Osage County.
The group has opened for the Eagles on several tours, including the current "History of the Eagles" tour, the "Summer 2010" tour, and the band's stadium tour with the Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban. JD & The Straight Shot has also opened up for both Joe Walsh and Don Henley's solo tours, the James Gang reunion tour, and performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Austin City Limits.1. Glow (Awaiting Repress)I've been inspired for this record from a very young age, said Eldredge. I dreamt of the day I could record all these classic songs that I've loved since I was a little kid. I recorded those classics in New York City and tried to give a tip of the hat to the ones that came before me - Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ray Charles - by adding that swing and that soul to the best of my ability. When it came to actually recording, I wanted to live in the experience. We hung Christmas lights in the studio in the middle of May and had musicians from the best bands in the world all in the same room - from horns to strings. Everyone was so inspired to make this classic record. I think it really shows in the songs and I can't wait for people to hear that magic we found.
The album was recorded at the legendary Avatar Studios in New York which has hosted many iconic artists including Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett, Bruce Springsteen, John Lennon, Billy Joel, Iggy Pop, Madonna and David Bowie. Produced by Rob Mounsey (Elton John, James Taylor, Idina Menzel, Michael BublÉ) and Jay Newland (Etta James, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton), it will feature many of your favorite Christmas standards, plus an original titled Glow.1. W.A.S.P. The Best Of The Best (Out of Stock)Blackie Lawless launched W.A.S.P. on the unsuspecting world in 1983 and before long tales of their outrageous music and intense stage shows were legendary.
In the last few years of the old century W.A.S.P. made some of their most striking and brave albums. The ferocious, blood-splattered Kill Fuck Die and the celebratory sleazefest of Helldorado had provided solid proof
that Blackie Lawless' songwriting skills were as keen and unique as ever and, unlike the majority of his 80s contemporaries, this most dogged and determined of frontmen was entering a new era full of confidence,
with that blazing inferno in his eyes clearly a long way from fizzling out.
The 15 tracks featured on The Best Of The Best prove that while the theatrics and shock tactics of Blackie Lawless might have gained the headlines, it was what W.A.S.P. did on record that gained them legions of fans. An exhilarating rock'n'roll rollercoaster, this double disc set collects themost incendiary moments from a career built on mixing snarling sexual noise with carnage, chaos and controversy.
Collecting tracks from all the classic W.A.S.P. albums, including W.A.S.P., The Last Command and The Headless Children, this double 180g black vinyl gatefold edition, released through Madfish of The Best Of The Best provides the definitive document of a blistering career. The Best Of The Best features the W.A.S.P. cuts - Animal (F**K Like A Beast), I Wanna Be Somebody, Wild Child and a rip roaring cover of Elton
