    Live At Carnegie Hall

Reissued for the First Time Since 1975 on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl

Bill Withers' 'Live At Carnegie Hall' was recorded almost 40 years ago on a rainy Friday evening, but it is still regarded as one of the best live performances in the history of Soul music.

With beautiful renditions of his classics 'Ain't No Sunshine', 'Use Me', 'Grandma's Hands' and of course his biggest hit 'Lean On Me', this shouldn't come as a surprise. Withers' brand of melancholy Soul plucks at your heartstrings and creates a wistful yearning, but it is still one of the most uplifting pieces of music you will ever find.

    Naked & Warm

Bill Withers is an American singer-songwriter and musician who performed from 1970 until 1985. He recorded several major hits, including Lean on Me, Ain't No Sunshine, Use Me, Just the Two of Us, Lovely Day, and Grandma's Hands. Withers won three Grammy Awards and was nominated for four more. His life was the subject of the 2009 documentary film Still Bill. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

Naked & Warm is his fifth studio album and is even funkier than his debut. Here Withers returns to the simple ways of his past, working five or six musicians for the kind of hard groove that doesn't have many parallels in black music these days, says music journalist Robert Christgau.

Musicians include Larry Fatback Tolbert on drums, Dorothy Ashby (harp), Melvin Dunlap (bass) Benorce Blackmon (guitar) and Jerry Knight (bass).

Naked & Warm is laid back and smooth; a classic Withers album.

    Just As I Am

In a career laden with highlights and hallmarks in the annals of soul history, 'Just As I Am' is rather overlooked as one of the best soul debuts ever issued. Beautifully remastered, 'Just as I Am' is presented to a new generation of listeners who may have missed out the first time.

With this remastering comes an intimacy, warmth, and immediacy to the recordings that was only hinted at with previous versions; it's almost as if Withers is in a living room singing to a small group of people, rather than making a record.

Of course, the instantly recognizable anthem Ain't No Sunshine gets all of the acclaim it so richly deserves, but also in tracks like Harlem, Grandma's Hands and Better Off Dead you can hear the intensity and maturity of Bill's performances.
Even when he's doing covers, Withers makes them sound as if they are his own compositions.

Give this classic record a spin, and get ready to be submersed in the Soul of one of the true masters of the genre!

    Just As I Am

Just As I Am is the 1971 debut of soul legend, Bill Withers. Produced by Booker T. Jones, and featuring backing from L.A. stalwarts Jim Keltner, Chris Ethridge, and Stephen Stills, Just As I Am features the outright, stone cold, classic "Ain't No Sunshine" along with other, lesser known, but equally powerful tracks such as "Grandma's Hands" and "Better Off Dead". A very, very, heavy and powerful debut from one of soul music's greatest songwriters; reissued here on 180 gram vinyl in a deluxe tip-on jacket.

    Still Bill

Still Bill is the second studio album from Bill Withers, originally released in 1972 and featuring the mega-hit "Lean On Me" (the first track ever to reach #1 on the Soul chart and the Billboard Hot 100). Featuring members of the Watts 103rd St. Rhythm Band, Still Bill also features the funky classic, "Use Me", amongst a handful of other powerful songwriting and performance efforts. Possibly Withers' finest album from start to finish, it's reissued here on 180 gram vinyl in a deluxe reproduction of the original sleeve.

    Still Bill

It's rich, subtly layered music, but its best attribute is that it comes on easy, never sounding labored or overworked.
In fact, it takes several spins of the album to realize just how versatile Withers is on 'Still Bill', to hear how he makes intricate, funky rhythms sound as effortless and simple as the album's best-known song, the gospel-tinged inspirational anthem Lean on Me.

That's the genius behind Withers' music: it's warm and easily accessible, but it has a depth and complexity that reveals itself over numerous plays.

Then there's the quality of the songwriting, which is as assured on the grooving Lonely Town, Lonely Street as it is on the suspicious, paranoid Who Is He (And What Is He to You)? or Use Me, where he happily submits to being used by his object of affection.

This high level of songwriting is sustained throughout the record, making this probably his best record ever.

    Menagerie

Bill Withers has been making a comeback since the release of the documentary Still Bill, but there are many who would argue that, although he hasn't recorded an album since 1985, he never really left. His musical legacy has found a place in our hearts and settled into our subconscious, none more so than Menagerie's opening track "Lovely Day". Every song as smooth as the next, this upbeat album is perfect for the summer to come. There's a relaxed vibe running through every note - even in the more up-tempo songs - and a consistency here that shows Bill at his best. Now's the perfect time to add this certified gold record that hasn't been reissued on vinyl since 1978 to your ever-growing Bill Withers collection!

    Givin' It Back (Awaiting Repress)

Givin' It Back is the ninth album released by The Isley Brothers on their T-Neck imprint in 1971. After years of having white Rock acts covering their most famed material, particularly, Shout and Twist And Shout, the Isleys decided to do the same to music made famous by white artists such as Stephen Stills, Eric Burdon and Neil Young.

Among the songs they covered were Spill The Wine, Love The One You're With, the social commentary medley of Ohio and Machine Gun (from Jimi Hendrix), Fire And Rain by James Taylor and Bob Dylan's Lay Lady Lay. The Isleys' perseverance paid off when their covers of Love The One You're With, Lay Lady Lay and Spill The Wine became charted hits. Bill Withers plays guitar on the Isleys' version of his Cold Bologna.

Released in 1972 as the second of Freddie King's three releases for Shelter Records, Leon Russell's Tulsa-based label. In fact, when Russell first formed Shelter, he reportedly did so partly to play out his vision of recording one of his favorites, Freddie King.

King's output on Texas Cannonball includes brilliant covers of songs by Howlin' Wolf, Lowell Fulson, Leon Russell, Bill Withers and Elmore James.

Backing artists include many musicians who played with Eric Clapton in the 1970s. Clapton has stated many times over that Freddie King was among his chief influences. Supporting musicians include Leon Russell on piano, Carl Radle and Donald Duck Dunn on bass, Jim Gordon, Chuck Blackwell and Al Jackson on drums, Don Preston on guitar and John Gallie on organ.

Recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis in February 1972.

Mississippi born, Los Angeles-based singer and
songwriter Maurice Smith has a feel for classic soul,
and he fed that love through his work with artists like Sy
Smith, Tony Toni Tone, Seal and Beyonce.

While Maurice claims artists like Bill Withers and Marvin
Gaye as influences, one can hear an awful lot of Curtis
Mayfield meets James Brown in his music. And that goes
for his brand new single, the hot, horn-filled "Can't Fight
The Feeling." If you are a lover of Southern & Northern
Soul with a Chicago Funk twist, you're going to love this
cut. " I really think Maurice Nailed this record and gives

    Driving Towards The Daylight

Recorded at Studio At The Palms in Las Vegas, NV, The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, CA and The Cave in Malibu, CA, Driving Towards The Daylight is a balanced back-to-basics album that highlights Bonamassa s signature style of roots blues with rock-and-roll guts, while honoring the traditions of the original blues musicians. To challenge Joe and move him out of his comfort zone, a unique group of musicians was gathered including Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford (guitar), Blondie Chaplan (guitar), Anton Fig (drums and percussion), Arlan Schierbaum (keyboard), Michael Rhodes (bass), Carmine Rojas (bass), Jeff Bova and The Bovaland Brass, Pat Thrall (guitar), and Brad s son Harrison Whitford (guitar).

The album features five Bonamassa-penned originals including the bruising opener Dislocated Boy, the road warrior title track (and first single) Driving Towards The Daylight, I Got All You Need, Heavenly Soul, and Somewhere Trouble Don t Go. Other tracks include Bonamassa's versions of Tom Waits New Coat Of Paint, Lonely Town Lonely Street, by Bill Withers (Lean On Me, Ain't No Sunshine) and A Place In My Heart by Bernie Marsden of White Snake (Here I Go Again). On the album closer, Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes sings lead vocals on his 1987 hit Too Much Ain't Enough Love.

    One Lovely Day (On Sale)

Dug deep into the rich soil of American music, Cope's roots are complex. You may think of Bill Withers or Neil Young or John Lee Hooker or Van Morrison or Willie Nelson or Al Green. Yet, listening to Cope, you also may think none of the above. You may not think at all, but rather feel a man exposing stories that haunt his heart.

He was born Clarence Greenwood, a child of the '70s, and his life journey is as singular as his art. He is the radically mashed-up product of Greenville, Mississippi; Memphis, Tennessee; Vernon, Texas; Washington, DC; and Brooklyn, New York. These locations are felt everywhere in his stories. His sounds are southern rural, big sky lonely, concrete urban, and painfully romantic. In the past nine years, he has produced four albums of depth and distinction, each a critical chapter in his search for a sound that paints an auditory American landscape in which despair wars with hope, tied to love, is elusive.

Cope's musical evolution was catch-as-catch can. Folk tales, whether through William Faulkner or Big Bill Broonzy, shaped his sensitivity. A few college courses at Texas Tech alternately bored and excited him. In Austin in the '80s, he took sound classes and found himself fooling with a primitive four-track setup. Turntables intrigued him. He heard hip hop as inspired invention. For years, he got lost in his self-designed lab, cooking up beats and motifs that only later would be shaped into songs. This, his new album, One Lovely Day is anchored by the yearning title track single which features some of his finest songwriting to date.

    You Won't Believe It

Formed in the early '50s under the watchful eye of
Tuskegee, Alabama, transplant Charles Chambliss, the
Sensational Saints were handpicked from a Cleveland
clothing store, a pool room, and from a group of friends
singing from a third story window. After years spent
rotating members and issuing stray singles for assorted
    non-denominational imprints, the group connected
with the vocally inclined Reverend Melvin Kenniebrew at
the close of the '60s, making good on their "Sensational"
boast. "With God in their hearts and singing on their
minds," the Sensational Saints mounted their crown
jewel in 1973 with "You Won't Believe It" (Try It You'll
Like Us). Pressed in conservative quantities by local
gospel magnate James Bullard on his King James label,
the group's lone long-player perfectly encapsulates the
intersection of funk and gospel as only the religious

Charlie Mars has been a journeyman artist with all the ups and downs that entails. He has gone from uncertainty to redemption with major label releases and high profile gigs opening for the likes of R.E.M., KT Turnstall, Citizen Cope and Steve Earle, among others. Now, with the extraordinary new Blackberry Light, the Mississippi-based troubadour builds his distinctive musical approach employing supple grooves and ambient Daniel Lanois-inspired production to enhance the elemental force of his classic songwriting influenced by Bob Marley, Bill Withers and Dire Straits.

From the dreamlike Nothing But The Rain, to the shimmering Picture of An Island, Blackberry Light sees Mars delving deep within to offer insight and a path to self awareness and ultimately transcendence via a gracefully beatific distillation of folk, rock, and smooth acoustic soul. Mars took a modest tack towards overall recording of Blackberry Light, which took place at Austin's Treefort Studios under production prowess of Billy Harvey (Bob Schneider), looking to capture those perfect uncalculated moments where everything just clicks.

Upon the sessions' conclusion, Mars sought out one of his dream collaborators legendary producer/engineer/mixer Tchad Blake. The Grammy-award winner, known for his distinctive work with such artists as Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson and Sheryl Crow, ultimately agreed and helped give Blackberry Light much of its uniquely spacious warmth. Like any songwriter worth his salt, Mars employs his art as a channel towards personal discovery, candidly exploring all the human limitations, from pride and fear to cynicism and self-doubt, that stand in the way of his attaining true happiness. 180g gatefold vinyl.

    Home Again

Few records make such an instant impression as Home Again, the debut album by Michael Kiwanuka, winner of the prestigious BBC Sound of 2012 prize. Immersing the listener in a sound that is both modern and at the same time as familiar as the classics, it manages to strike the balance between being contemporary and somehow utterly timeless. For Kiwanuka, key musical touchstones include Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Shuggie Otis, Roberta Flack's First Take, Bill Withers' Live At Carnegie Hall and D'Angelo's modern soul landmark Voodoo.

Born in Muswell Hill to Ugandan ÉmigrÉ parents, Kiwanuka was brought up in a home from which music was largely absent, with his first introduction to rock (Nirvana, Radiohead) arriving at the same time as he began to hang with the skater kids in the north London suburb during his early teenage years. Later coming across a soul compilation album given away with a music monthly, he was enthralled by the sound of Otis Redding's studio talkback discussions with his engineer while recording an outtake version of (Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay. From this point on, he resolved to make music that sounded raw and authentic.

Though deeply into soul and jazz, he found real inspiration in the cross-pollination of the two styles with folk in the music of Bill Withers. "Bill Withers was very rootsy and earthy," he points out, "but people branded him as a soul singer. To me, he was a folk artist. So that encouraged me to keep going, 'cause I didn't know where I would fit in as a black guy with an acoustic guitar."

While performing on the acoustic circuit around London, Kiwanuka quickly attracted interest and made connections, not least with his current manager who in turn garnered the attention of Communion Records, the label that in 2011 released the singer's first two acclaimed EPs, Tell Me A Tale and I'm Getting Ready. Both of these EPs, as with Home Again, were produced by Paul Butler (The Bees) in his vintage equipment-stuffed basement studio at his house in Ventnor on the Isle Of Wight. Together the pair played almost every instrument to be heard on the album, with Butler's remarkably intimate, detailed productions adorned with everything from flute to brass to sitar to aching strings, perfectly matching Kiwanuka's visions for his songs.

"The way we made the record was very modern," the singer points out. "There was loads of editing. We manipulated it to get exactly what we wanted." From the opening bars of the stirring Tell Me A Tale, it is instantly clear that Home Again is a very special album. While its more upbeat characteristics are embodied in the Prince Buster-like loping of the lovelorn but irresistibly catchy Bones and the rolling soul groove of I'll Get Along, elsewhere it proves itself to be a record of real stripped-down beauty.

In I Won't Lie, with its gospel-infused echoes of The Staples Singers, Kiwanuka offers something akin to a modern spiritual, while in Rest he turns in a tender love lullaby and in Always Waiting, he blends classical elements with the confessional intimacy of Roberta Flack. It is with the title track of Home Again, however, that Michael Kiwanuka feels the record's sounds and themes are ultimately encapsulated. "That's the song that really for me ties everything together," he says. "It's one of the earliest songs I wrote for the album and even though I progressed and changed stuff in the studio, it was the one I could never throw away. Like a lot of them, it's a hopeful song. I use home as the metaphor for contentment and peace within."

Other parts of the record, on the other hand, find Kiwanuka struggling for peace of mind and using his songs as a form of self-empowerment, not least in the soulful I'm Getting Ready, the darker, unburdening Any Day Will Do Fine and the self-explanatory Worry Walks Beside Me. "It can really paralyze you, if you worry too much," the singer admits. "I do tend to overthink things. All of these songs are me talking to myself, really. Trying to encourage myself to believe."

    A Light That Never Dies

On his second album A Light That Never Dies which will be released in North America via Forty Below Records, KaiL Baxley has returned with a hard hitting, lush and beautifully haunting collection of songs. Co-produced with Producer/Engineer Eric Corne whose recording credits include Lucinda Williams, Glen Campbell, Kim Deal and John Mayall, the album was recorded over the last year in three different cities.

"We used a lot of really old gear on this one to capture that warm analog sound and preserve its truth," says KaiL about the album. "I'm proud of what Eric and I got out of the studio and I'm eager to get out on the road and share it with people."

Hailing from the small backwater town of Willison-Elko - a town so small that most people in South Carolina don't even know where it is, much less the rest of the world. It's only claim to fame is soul legend James Brown, with whom Baxley shared an unlikely friendship as a child. Perhaps this was one of the leading influences in Baxley's soul-drenched music or perhaps it was the similar circumstances in which they were raised that fuels such deep emotion in an individual.

Abandoned by both his mother and father as a small child Baxley was raised by his grandfather Woody until age 12. When he passed away, KaiL bounced from one living situation to another, rarely living in one place for more than a year at a time. It was in this constant migration that he found escape in a pair of old RCA headphones.

"It wasn't all bad really," he recalls. "I got to know quite a bit of music from all different genres during that time period. I'd stay with my uncle for a while and pick up some Van Morrison; my auntie gave me the Stones;friends parents turned me on to gospel. Then I discovered hiphop and it was all over. I was hooked."

This is the very apparent source of inspiration in KaiL Baxley's genre-bending music that also blends blues, indie rock, soul, gospel, and syncopated hiphop-style beats into a most exquisite and easily drinkable cocktail of sound - a sound that he has dubbed "Soul Swagger".

KaiL's debut effort, Heatstroke/The Wind and the War, was presented as a double EP which displayed the yin and yang of his musical range. A surprise nominee for NPR's Album Of The Year, it received critical acclaim, including a debut at SXSW, where Baxley was tapped as, "One of NPR's top new artists" by All Songs Considered.

"His voice falls somewhere between Joe Cocker and Bill Withers with a husky authority. The guy is a whiz-bang folkie-turned-soul-rocker and has a voice which can make you dance or which melts butter, depending upon the tune."

The album also includes the Grammy Award winning hit Just the Two of Us sung by Bill Withers. The track In the Name of Love was also released in rearranged form.

    To All The Girls...

Decades of heartfelt performances and compositions in popular music have long solidified Willie's reputation as one of country's greatest romantics. To All The Girls... continues Nelson's musicial relationships with some of the most talented women in country, pop, and soul.

Among the centerpieces of To All The Girls... is the emotional duet with Dolly Parton, From Here To The Moon and Back, a song Parton wrote for the 2012 motion picture Joyful Noise. Willie also tackles the Bill Withers' classic Grandma's Hands with Mavis Staples, duets with Sheryl Crow on The Great American Songbook selection Far Away Places, and brings a new shade to his self penned classic Always On My Mind with Carrie Underwood.

Willie is also joined by familiar contemporaries including Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Norah Jones and Rosanne Cash. To All The Girls... reunites Willie with producer Buddy Cannon, who worked with Willie on his most recent successful releases, Heroes and Let's Face The Music And Dance.

Having turned 80 years old in April, Willie Nelson has no intentions of riding off into the sunset. Since signing to Legacy Recordings, Nelson has been steadily recording an releasing albums with the same rough-and-ready spirit of his timeless recordsing for RCA and Columbia Records. Heroes was praised by Uncut for being as spirited as it is poignant. Of 2013's Let's Face The Music And Dance, Paste cheered for his strongest and most engaged performances in a decade.

The Lights From The Chemical Plant

Produced by Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings Of Leon),
Robert Ellis' 2nd album, THE LIGHTS FROM THE CHEMICAL
PLANT, continues his journey into folk music he began 3 years
ago. The songs on the new record, which range from the majestic
string-adorned title track to noir pop rock and somber confessionals,
all show Ellis' growth and the various sides of this multidimensional
songwriter. Ellis recently told Rolling Stone THE LIGHTS FROM THE CHEMICAL
PLANT is "stylistically ambiguous," as he is
inspired by a wide variety of artists. "On this record I was trying
to channel everything from Paul Simon, Randy Newman and Bill
Withers, to free jazz artists like Ornette Coleman," Ellis explained.

    Driving Towards The Daylight

On May 21, 2012, internationally renowned guitar superstar Joe Bonamassa will release a brand new solo album 'Driving Towards The Daylight' on Provogue Records. 'Driving Towards The Daylight' was produced by Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley (Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin). This is their seventh collaboration in six years and Joe's 13th album.

Recorded at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, CA and Studio At The Palms in Las Vegas, NV, 'Driving Towards The Daylight' is a balanced back-to-basics album that highlights Bonamassa's signature style of roots blues with rock-and-roll guts, while honouring the traditions of the original blues musicians.

"We've taken some really traditional old blues songs - the Howlin' Wolf song 'Who's Been Talkin' and the Robert Johnson song 'Stones In My Passway,' and we've tried to imagine how they would do them in a rock context," said Shirley. "It's a very exciting return to the blues in a very visceral way. It's vibrant and it's gutsy and it's really, really rugged."

The album features five Bonamassa-penned originals including the bruising opener 'Dislocated Boy', the road warrior title track (and first single) 'Driving Towards The Daylight', 'I Got All You Need', 'Heavenly Soul' and 'Somewhere Trouble Don't Go'. Other tracks include Bonamassa's versions of Tom Waits' 'New Coat Of Paint', Bill Withers' 'Lonely Town Lonely Street', and 'A Place In My Heart' by Bernie Marsden. On the album closer, Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes sings lead vocals on his 1987 hit 'Too Much Ain't Enough Love'.

To challenge Joe and move him out of his comfort zone, a unique group of musicians was gathered including Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford (guitar), Blondie Chaplin (guitar), Anton Fig (drums and percussion), Arlan Schierbaum (keyboard), Michael Rhodes (bass), Carmine Rojas (bass), Jeff Bova and The Bovaland Brass, Pat Thrall (guitar), and Brad's son Harrison Whitford (guitar).

Brad Whitford, speaking from the studio in Vegas, said, "This is definitely more influenced by the stuff that the guys and musicians in this room love, early '60s English and American rock and blues. I guess we'll never get that out of our system and its fun to come in here and find our own path down that highway."

Bonamassa's last studio album 'Dust Bowl 'released in March 2011 charted at no.12 in the UK

    More Revery

A quiet tribute to some great songwriters, with a style that tips its hat to the original and then makes the song all its own.

    -AllMusic

In the year 2000 - shortly after releasing what would become his most iconic album, I See A Darkness - Will Oldham aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billy retreated to his family's farmhouse with the majority that I See A Darkness lineup in tow to record a half dozen covers of some of Oldham's favorite songs. The track listing is, as expected, inspired and eclectic: John Phillips, PJ Harvey, Bill Withers, The Renderers, John Holt, and Tim McGraw. Bonny Billy's renditions are equally inspired and eclectic, ranging from slow-burning uneasiness to uncharacteristic jubilance.

Originally released exclusively on limited edition CD in the pre-MP3 era, More Revery was gone before iTunes existed, and has not been available in any format since. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Temporary Residence Ltd., we are honored to reissue this essential piece of the Bonny Billy canon - now expanded to include rare live versions of the entire album!

Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection, an innovative new collection of 12 beloved vocal recordings re-experienced through new samba and bossa nova arrangements created by iconic Brazilian musicians and The Berman Brothers.

Embracing the All In One Rhythm™ Theme of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection blends 12 iconic performances--from Bill Withers, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday, Sly & The Family Stone, The Isley Brothers, Mel TormÉ, Nina Simone, Johnny Nash, Dave Brubeck with Carmen McRae, Andy Williams and Sarah Vaughan--with new, samba and bossa nova arrangements and production inspired by the spirit of Brazilian music.

Working on Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection project, the Berman Brothers sought out the original multi-track masters and utilized an all-new, state-of-the-art separation technology from Science of Sounds to extract exquisitely pristine and detailed vocals. The newly isolated vocals were then melded with brand-new, authentic backing arrangements played by Studio Rio, an all-star cast of Brazilian musical pioneers from the bossa nova and samba genres, including Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner Roberto Menescal and Brazilian musical legend Marcos Valle.

Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection is the latest innovative musical project from the Berman Brothers (Frank and Christian), a production team whose previous work includes Rhythms Del Mundo (2006), a cross-cultural album summit which which fused an all-star cast of Cuban musicians including Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo of the Buena Vista Social Club with US and UK artists and superstars such as U2, Coldplay, Sting, Jack Johnson, Maroon5, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs and others. Rhythms del Mundo was released in more than 61 countries and received multiple sales awards worldwide.

During the past 20 years, the Berman Brothers have received more than 90 gold and platinum awards, two BMI Awards, a Golden Globe nomination, a Grammy nomination (for Love One Another, recorded by Cher) and a place in history for their production and remix of the Baha Men's colossal hit, Who Let the Dogs Out. As producers, writers and publishers, the Bermans have worked with an array of international superstars including Coldplay, Sting, Cher, Real McCoy, Dido, Maroon5, Sophie B Hawkins, Reamonn and members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club.

Music is the heart and soul of Brazil, celebrating with syncopated beats and beautifully expressive melodies. It's the life force of the entire culture, wrote the Berman Brothers in their notes for Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection. We have always had a huge appreciation of Brazilian music. Between us, we have a massive collection of bossa nova and samba recordings, new and old, a lot which we found in flea markets in Amsterdam, Paris, and London.... Once you get into this music, there really is no way to stop. It was this joyful and timeless music that inspired the idea for this collection. Our goal was to bring the Brazilian joie de vivre to iconic performances by well-known American artists like Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, The Isley Brothers, and many others. What would these classic songs sound like had they been recorded in the studios of Rio De Janeiro in the first place, with the best Brazilian musicians and arrangers?"

"It was an amazing journey-bringing together these American classics and the vibrancy of Brazilian music with the help of so many talented musicians, arrangers and a dedicated production team. We learned many things putting together this music including what was the most important, and least surprising lesson of all: Brazil is the most musical place we have ever been in our lives.
