    Black Out

Sophomore effort Black Out signaled The Good Life's transformation from Tim Kasher solo-effort to a full-fledged band. That change makes itself apparent in this collection of upbeat, keyboard driven pop songs intermixed between sparse, vocal driven stories of drunken disappointment. Originally released in 2002, Black Out is back in print on vinyl for the first time in over a decade.

    Black Moses

This double LP, released on Stax Records' Enterprise label in 1971, was the follow-up to Hayes' successful soundtrack for Shaft. Black Moses features
Hayes' version of The Jackson 5's hit single Never Can Say Goodbye which became a hit in its own right, peaking at number 22 on the Billboard Hot
    100. The sheer front-to-back strength of this double-LP set has made Black Moses one of Isaac Hayes' most enduringly revered and best-known works. A
watershed album for the multi-instrumental singer/songwriter and producer, it only served to further cement his reputation as a progressive soul artist
capable of unmistakably original arrangements and genre-defining R&B mastery. This new vinyl reissue is a must-have for all serious soul and R&B fans.

    Black

Dierks Bentley has announced the details for his upcoming eighth studio album, Black. The follow-up to his acclaimed Riser is slated to drop in 2016.

The new album reunites the core creative team from Riser, including producer Ross Copperman and executive producer Arturo Buenahora, Jr. Riser set a new high-water mark for Bentley, earning him Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations and putting him in the headlining slot in arenas across the country. Black sees Bentley continuing to push himself creatively, expanding his sonic palette to include influences that "flourish on the edge of arena rock," according to a press release.

Black is a very personal album, taking its title from Bentley's wife Cassidy's maiden name, but it's intended to tell a universal story of "breakups, hookups, mess-ups and everything in between, shining a light on the things that happen after the sun goes down."

"It's a relationship album that covers the ups and downs of the journey and ends with some self-realization and evolvement," Bentley states. "The song 'Black' helps set all of that in motion at the top of the album by guiding you into the darkness and the shadows of the night. The same guy who sings 'Somewhere On a Beach' winds up growing and having enough perspective to sing something introspective like 'Different for Girls.' By the last song, he's taking a look back on love and life."

Black features more input from the female perspective than any previous Bentley album, including appearances from Maren Morris, Elle King, Natalie Hemby, Hillary Lindsey and Jessi Alexander.

"Having a female perspective on this record really made the album more than just music," Bentley says. "It makes it a conversation between a guy and a girl. Sometimes it's harmonious and sometimes it's two people clashing, but it's always there."

The album also features a guest shot from Trombone Shorty. Black is set for release on Capitol Records Nashville.

Listen to the first couple of cuts from the Black Lips' self-titled debut album and it sounds like you've uncovered yet another nuevo-garage rock band with an extra shot of punk rock attitude. All well and good, but let the album sink in and you realize these kids have a bit more up their sleeves -- the tres-wasted psychedelia of Freakout, the creepy blues crawl of Stone Cold and Down and Out, and the free-form dementia of You're Dumb prove these guys have been absorbing their influences from any number of less than wholesome sources.

    Black Night

Very few bands come close to sounding like the metal legends Black Sabbath. The appropriately named Iron Man is one of the few who actually did, a very special band in the underground heavy metal scene that dared to re-create the dark/doomy sounds that Sabbath famously pioneered, but with their own twist.

Originally released in 1993 by Hellhound Records, Iron Man's classic debut album Black Night, marked the birth of one of the few bands who dove head first into the heavy rock sounds and dark atmospheres that Black Sabbath trailblazed.

The 7-song set is all about supersonic riffs and brutal heaviness, a dynamic that would even make Black Sabbath proud. Shadow Kingdom Records has now remastered the impossible-to-find but essential Black Night to make it sound as heavy as humanly possible which is scary in and of itself!

    Black Up

Black Up is the new sonic move from Shabazz Palaces. Like rich velvet hijabs or gold threaded abayas. Luxury as understood by the modest. If Bedouins herded beats instead of goats and settled in Seattle instead of the Atlas Mountains, this would be their album. Forward thinkers but nostalgic for a sparer time when ancient astronomers only recognized five planets. Black Up was recorded and mixed in Lixx-alog by Blood and produced by Knife Knights at Gunbeat Serenade Studio in Outplace Palacelands.

Recorded in 1958 during a session at the studio of Rudy Van Gelder in Hackensack, NJ, Black Pearls captures Coltrane at the height of his powers,
perfecting what would come to be known as his sheets of sound soloing technique. With an all-star combo in tow featuring trumpeter Donald Byrd and
the Red Garland Trio (Garland on keys, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums), Coltrane displays an absolute mastery of his craft in what
would be the group's last date together. Another gem in an illustrious career, Coltrane's Black Pearls offers in equal measure dazzling solos and
unmatched group unity. An essential recording for Coltrane fans and jazz-lovers alike, Black Pearls is now available on vinyl.

    Black Widow

Nature counts the black widow spider amongst its most fascinating and dangerous anomalies. The female arachnid often devours its mate after copulation. It's both a delicate and dangerous predator. In This Moment isn't all that different from this enigmatic beast. Led by frontwoman Maria Brink, the Los Angeles hard rock outfit strikes with a seductive metallic bite on their aptly titled fifth full-length album, Black Widow.

Black Widow is a metaphor for this innocent young girl who gets infected with life, traumas, experiences, and the balance of light and darkness, explains Maria. She becomes this poised and powerful creature. That's the album.

We went into this with the title Black Widow, says lead guitarist Chris Howorth. It fits the image of Maria as this powerful heroine. If you think of the boys in the audience watching our stage show, she's like the black widow pulling them all in.

The record, the first for the band on Atlantic Records, picks up where the group's 2012 breakthrough, Blood, left off. That album saw In This Moment debut at #15 on the Billboard Top 200, their highest chart position to date, and eventually sold over 250,000 units in the U.S. alone. It also spawned the single Blood, which rose to #9 on the Mainstream Rock and Active Rock Songs charts. A sold out headline tour, HELLPOP, followed, as well as appearances at the Uproar Festival and Rock On The Range, and jaunts with Shinedown and Papa Roach. After the whirlwind of Blood subsided, Maria and Chris retreated to Las Vegas in February 2014 to begin working on what would become Black Widow with longtime producer Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch].

    Black Gold

    Import

In 1969, the High Priestess Of Soul, Nina Simone, descended onto the stage of the Philharmonic Hall in New York to record her new live-album, Black Gold.

It became a legendary performance, with the first recording of the Civil Rights song 'To Be Young, Gifted And Black',
a song which is not addressed to white people primarily. Though it doesn't put you down in any way...it simply ignores you. For my people need all the inspiration and love that they can get.

Black Gold also contains a rendition of Sandy Denny's 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes,' in a minimalist arrangement that ends in an uplifting orchestration true to both the writer of the song and the performer. Throughout the entire performance Ms Simone keeps a regal, aloof and sometimes goofy composure, her monologues in between songs ushering the listener a little closer to her moving performance.

Her eclectic style takes us past a number of different music forms; past Soul and Gospel and Folk, Jazz and Broadway; her androgynous and distinctive timbre floats somewhere between melancholy and bliss, and yet we always feel that Ms Simone is taking us exactly where she wants us to go.

Overall, Black Gold is a poignant and touching album from the peak of her performing and recording period that should not be overlooked.

    Black Celebration

Whether the band felt it was simply the time to move on from its most explicit industrial-pop fusion days, or whether increased success and concurrently larger venues pushed the music into different avenues, Depeche Mode's fifth studio album, Black Celebration, saw the group embarking on a path that in many ways defined their sound to the present: emotionally extreme lyrics matched with amped-up tunes, as much anthemic rock as they are compelling dance, along with stark, low-key ballads. The slow, sneaky build of the opening title track, with a strange distorted vocal sample providing a curious opening hook, sets the tone as David Gahan sings of making it through another black day while powerful drums and echoing metallic pings carry the song. Black Celebration is actually heavier on the ballads throughout, many sung by Martin Gore -- the most per album he has yet taken lead on -- with notable dramatic beauties including Sometimes, with its surprise gospel choir start and rough piano sonics, and the hyper-nihilistic World Full of Nothing. The various singles from the album remain definite highlights, such as A Question of Time, a brawling, aggressive number with a solid Gahan vocal, and the romantic/physical politics of Stripped, featuring particularly sharp arrangements from Alan Wilder. However, with such comparatively lesser-known but equally impressive numbers as the quietly intense romance of Here Is the House to boast, Black Celebration is solid through and through.

    Black Origami

Planet Mu are very excited to announce Jlin's long awaited second album "Black Origami." A percussion-led tour de force, it's a creation that seals her reputation as a unique producer with an exceptional ability to make riveting rhythmic music. "Black Origami" is driven by a deep creative thirst which she describes as "this driving feeling that I wanted to do something different, something that challenged me to my core. Black Origami for me, comes from letting go creatively, creating with no boundaries. The simple definition of origami is the art of folding and constructing paper into a beautiful, yet complex design. Composing music for me is like origami, only I'm replacing paper with sound. I chose to title the album Black Origami because like Dark Energy I still create from the beauty of darkness and blackness. The willingness to go into the hardest places within myself to create for me means that I can touch the Infinity."

Spirituality and movement are both at the core of "Black Origami", inspired largely by her ongoing collaborations with Indian dancer/movement artist Avril Stormy Unger whom she met and collaborated with at her debut performance for the Unsound festival - "There is a fine line between me entertaining a person and my spirituality. Avril, who collaborates with me by means of dance, feels the exact same way. Movement played a great role in Black Origami. The track Carbon 7 is very inspired by the way Avril moves and dances. Our rhythms are so in sync at times it kind of scares us. When there is something I can't quite figure out when it comes to my production, it's like she senses it. Her response to me is always You'll figure it out. Once I figure it out it's like time and space no longer exist."

Similar time shifting/folding/disrupting effects can be heard throughout the record - especially on "Holy Child" an unlikely collaboration with minimalist legend William Basinski. She also collaborates again with Holly Herndon on "1%", while Halcyon Veil producer Fawkes' voice is on "Calcination" and Cape Town rapper Dope Saint Jude provides vocals for "Never Created, Never Destroyed.

of progressive-fused jazz with funk, prog-rock and soul, augmented with the brilliant and skillful musicianship of their
superstar founders Wayne Shorter on saxophone and various electronic reeds and the late great Joe Zawinul on a
stunning array of keyboards and electronic instruments. Both of these legendary musicians/composers worked with
Miles Davis on his classics like Bitches Brew, plus solid tenures with legends like Cannonball Adderley (Zawinul) and
Art Blakey (Shorter) all of which would prove to become the huge catalyst for things to come.

Throughout the remainder of the late seventies and beyond, Weather Report's fine arsenal of recordings would
take the band to the top of all the popular music charts. The 1976 fusion classic Black Market would go on to yield
one of the biggest albums of their career as it hit the top rungs of the jazz charts, plus major showings in the pop and
R&B charts. Black Market also introduced the world to the late great bassist legend Jaco Pastorius.

No stone is left unturned, as this masterpiece is loaded with hit after hit with smashes like Joe Zawinul's title
track Black Market, the powerful Elegant People by Wayne Shorter and of course Zawinul's tribute to his recently
deceased bandleader Cannonball Adderley with Cannon Ball.

As one of the most enduring albums in their massive career catalog, Black Market also features the all-star
line-up of Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius (bass), Chester Thompson (drums) and Alex Acuna (percussion).
Friends likes Michael Narada Walden and Alphonso Johnson also contribute to the amazing recording sessions. All in
all, Black Market took the fans by storm, forever retaining the title superstars to the Weather Report franchise.

    Black Talk!

The young organist Charles Earland converted the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" into an anthem called "Black Talk" and came up with one of the huge soul-jazz hits of the early Seventies. In this album, Earland worked the same magic with two other pop songs, "Aquarius" and "More Today than Yesterday," giving them the urgency and forward movement of R&B but managing to inject them with jazz values. He was greatly aided by a pair of soloists-trumpeter Virgil Jones and tenor saxophonist Houston Person-who added fuel to Earland's fiery concept. Guitarist Melvin Sparks and the quintessential soul jazz drummer Idris Muhammad helped keep the blaze going. It is not coincidence that his blues composition, and Earland himself, were called "The Mighty Burner."

Black Talk! went on to become an enormous hit, spending most of 1970 on the best-seller charts.

    Black Heaven

Pressed On Clear & Black Colored Vinyl

    Limited to 2000

Earthless has a surprise for you. Whereas the band's three previous albums featured anywhere
from two to four completely instrumental space rock jams, the California trio's fourth
and latest, Black Heaven, is nothing like that. "It's quite different," drummer Mario Rubalcaba
says with a laugh. "It has six songs, and most importantly it has vocals on about 70 percent
of the record. There goes being pigeonholed as an instrumental band, I guess "

Of Black Heaven's six tracks, only two are instrumental. And one of those instrumentals is
less than two minutes long. "It wasn't a premeditated thing to do a record with vocals," Rubalcaba
explains. "On the older records, Mike was responsible for a lot of the riffs that would
start these jams, but on this one Isaiah really brought his own pizazz and flavor to it. I'd say
that's one of the major differences on this album: It has more of Isaiah's input. He took a risk
bringing these ideas to us, not knowing if we'd like them. But as with everything we've done
in the past, it felt very organic and natural."

Black Heaven is a game changer for Earthless. Nobody is more aware of this than the band
members themselves. But they also know this: you'll never get anywhere if you're running
in place. "I'm sure there will be some people who have come to expect the big gargantuan
space rock jams, and I don't know if they'll be into this or not," Rubalcaba admits. "But I'm
ready to deal with a little bit of disappointment from people who just want the freakout stuff.
At the same time, I think people are gonna enjoy hearing a different side of us. If people really
listen to what we're doing, it's gonna sound like us. Sometimes it just takes a few listens. And
that's the kind of stuff that pays off more in the end."

    Black Bubblegum

Black Bubblegum is the newest LP from Eric Copeland,
and we are not kidding when we emphasize it sounds like
nothing he has done in the past. The title of the record
says it all: chewy, sticky pop that doesn't taste quite like
any chewy, sticky pop you've had before.

Recorded at Copeland's old practice space in South
Williamsburg, Black Bubblegum contains songs with
more conventional sounds and songwriting than any of
his previous releases. While there are similarities with
Copeland's earlier work in the drum patterns, major
scales and vocals, Black Bubblegum moves away from
his trademark psychedelic dub towards strange and
fantastical pop; imagine Arthur Russell going into the
studio with the Ramones. Wanting to take a more "handson"
approach to these recordings, Copeland exchanged
sample-driven tech and hardware for keyboards, guitars
and effect pedals, creating a new sound that is oddly
easy to digest despite its rejection of melody in favour of
    discord and dissonance.

For a long time, Copeland considered this collection of
songs to be recordings which would never be heard. This
invariably influenced certain decisions made during the
creation of Black Bubblegum, blessing Copeland with
the unique freedom that comes from making music never
intended to be heard, let alone released.

When asked to please jot down what influenced this new
album and sound, Eric replied "glam holes, glitter dreams,
money troubles, apocalypse paranoia, one hit wonders,
manifest destiny, my family's westward migration, body
troubles (was passing kidney stones almost the entire
time), LGBT disco parties, Jonathan Richman, Missing
Foundation, Neil Diamond, New Orleans, poverty, getting
pushed out of another Brooklyn neighbourhood... No
Beach Boys, no Beatles, no Buddha... More Bad News
    Bears."

Eric Copeland has been sound clashing at full volume for
over twenty years, first carving out a named for himself as
one third of the legendary NY-via-Providence band Black
Dice. A wildly prolific solo artist, Copeland has played
shit houses, party palaces and seemingly everything in
    between all over the world.

A long time Brooklyn, resident, Eric recently relocated
to where the L Train does not run - Palma de Mallorca,
Spain. While maintaining a relatively humble and low key
presence in a highly competitive musical world, he has
releases a prolific amount of music every year through
indie labels such as L.I.E.S., Escho (Iceage), PPM (No Age), Paw Tracks (Animal Collective) and DFA.
