    Parklife (Special Edition)

To celebrate the 21st Anniversary of their debut release, Blur's breakthrough 1994 album Parklife has now been remastered from the original tapes by Frank Arkwright (The Smiths, Arcade Fire, New Order, Joy Division), with the remastering overseen by legendary original producer, Stephen Street. Expanded across two discs, the LP format of the Parklife remaster is cut on heavyweight 180g audiophile vinyl and is housed in a replica of the original sleeve artwork.

British pop's defining record of the 1990s, Parklife became part of the national consciousness, English vocabulary and was the first of five consecutive #1 albums for Blur. The album continued the lyrical themes of its predecessor, but stylistically reaching further afield featuring torch song balladry, instrumental waltzes, disco and angular new wave. Parklife garnered Blur two top ten singles, four Brit Awards and classic album status

    Blurred

Having evolved from engaing underground prospect into a fully established international DJ and producer in recent years, the time has now come for Huxley, born Michael Dodman, to release his debut album. Entitled Blurred, it will land on Will Saul's Aus / !K7 on October 21st 2014. Since debuting as Huxley five years ago, Dodman has continued to evolve and mature his sound in ways most cannot. Initially precipitating something of a garage house revival with his early EPs, ensuing releases on key labels like 2020 Vision, Hypercolour and Tsuba have seen him roam into percussive and deep house territories, but always with a fresh modern twist that has seen him find favour with a diverse array of press and peers from Pitchfork to Mixmag, Pete Tong to The Black Dog. One lead single from the album has already been premiered: Callin is a collaboration between Huxley and house veteran Roger Sanchez in his revered S Man guise and with its deeply infectious drum loops, earwormy vocal hooks and slick production is indicative of the album overall. Elsewhere the LP excels with original vocal performances from Yasmin (who has seen chart success working with Gorgon City), FEMME aka Laura Bettinson (a vocalist in Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich's band, UltraĆsta), Thomas Gandey and emering UK talent Obenewa. Starting with the deeply emotive melodies and snug sub bass of I Want You , the album coherently unravels through fractured garage beats and classic LFO wobble, anthemic and idyllic pop leaning vocal cuts, screw face bass tracks and tough techno stompers. Tying it all together is a polished sheen, a deeply rooted musicality and Huxley s trademark sense of irresistible groove. Certainly marking yet another step up in the musical evolution of Huxley, Blurred more than captures the contemporary dance zeitgeist: it truly defines it and will do so for plenty of time to come.

Stevie Ray had made music beyond the powers of most musicians but for this 1990 studio collaboration he returned to the things he loved: upbeat music and working with the brother he idolized his whole life. In his early years, Stevie Ray Vaughan often remarked that he would like to do an album with his brother. He fulfilled that wish in his very last studio performance, which was released nearly a month after his death. The liner notes end with "Thanks Mama V. for letting us play." With slick production from Nile Rodgers and employing neither guitarist's band (Double Trouble nor the Fabulous Thunderbirds), this is bluesy, but far from purist. Jimmie makes his vocal debut on "White Boots" and "Good Texan" and the brothers blur the lines between their expected guitar styles - Stevie sometimes going for a less sustained twang, Jimmie moving into Albert King territory.

Whether it's Spinal Tap gloriously losing the plot, the escapades of Tenacious D getting them into trouble, or the phenomenon that is Dethklok tearing up the album charts, comedy and heavy music have long made for great bedfellows. Jim Breuer is a man who understands this, and with Songs From The Garage, his first full-length with longtime backing band The Regulators, he delivers both in his inimitable style. "I basically want the crowd to have a blast, and I write what I feel that I would love if I was in the crowd. So, going into the record the music had to be killer and have great hooks, that was most important, and I wanted to balance that with something that's funny," he enthuses. "I wanted to bring the smile back to hard rock that has a nice punch to it - and in doing so hopefully bridge the gap so my generation and their kids will come see this live together!"

In realizing this, Breuer has delivered a record that is pure, unadulterated fun, and yes, it rocks. From crunchy opening romp "Thrash" through the swaggering "Who Better Than Us?" to the gloriously deranged excitement suffusing "Sugar Rush", his exuberance is infectious, and he challenges you to keep your ass from shaking and the corners of your mouth twitching while it thunders from the speakers. Throughout, his influences bleed through, comfortably blurring the line between hard rock and metal while every anthemic chorus lodges irrevocably in the hippocampus. While a great many 'comedy rock' records are ultimately pretty throwaway and last as long as the joke stays funny, this is not the case with Songs From The Garage. True to his game plan, Breuer has made great songs, ones that persistently draw a smile and will fit comfortably when shuffled among the likes of Megadeth, AC/DC, Judas Priest and more contemporary bands, such as Avenged Sevenfold and Halestorm.

Having finally made the album that has been burning to get out of him since his teens, Breuer couldn't be happier with the result. Though he has fulfilled one rock and roll dream with its completion, it certainly does not mean he's about to kick back and leave it at that. "I plan on making great, funny videos for every song and have videos up during the concerts. I want pure entertainment when you come see this live, and now my rock and roll dream is to play this not only here in America, but anywhere else in the world that will accept it! I'm taking it one day at a time, living the dream."

Recorded during Blur's rapid rise in popularity and tabloid recognition, the third and final chapter in what was referred to as the band's "life trilogy" sees the band present a dark and lavish look at the modern world, populated by night-shift cab drivers, factory workers, lottery players and swinging couples. Blur's 1991 debut mixed abstract My Bloody Valentine-style noise, psychedelic tunefulness and classic British pop, reflecting the use of a handful of different producers. The album features many songs dating from Blur's earlier incarnation as Seymour, including "Sing" and first single "She's So High," a song written during their first rehearsal together. The band's first UK top ten hit, "There's No Other Way" is also featured, marking the beginning of a long association with producer, Stephen Street.

To celebrate the 21st Anniversary of their debut release, Blur's sixth album 13 has now been expanded across two discs, cut on heavyweight 180g audiophile vinyl and housed in a replica of the original sleeve artwork.

Marking their ten years together as a band, 1999's 13 is the sound of Blur becoming, according to Damon Albarn, "completely free." The album was created from lengthy improvisations around song structures, recorded and painstakingly edited by producer William Orbit.

Lyrically, the songs are rooted in personal and emotional changes, most notably on two of the album's singles, "Tender" and the heartbreaking "No Distance Left To Run." The album also sees songwriting contributions by guitarist Graham Coxon who takes lead vocal duties on Coffee & TV.

    The Magic Whip

The new album from Blur, titled The Magic Whip, started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013. It is released by Parlophone Records, 16 years since 13, the band's last record as a four-piece. The recordings for the band's eighth studio album began in Spring 2013 at Avon Studios in Kowloon. Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree spent 5 days jamming together and carried on with their live dates while the recordings were put aside and the group finished touring and returned to their respective lives. Dave resumed his day job as a lawyer and Alex returned home to his farm in Oxfordshire from where he writes a regular farming column in The Telegraph and hosts the annual food and music festival The Big Feastival with Jamie Oliver. Graham, who has released eight critically acclaimed solo albums to date, continued to work on his own material and, in 2014, Damon released his Mercury-nominated debut solo album 'Everyday Robots'.Then, in November last year, Graham revisited the tracks and, drafting in Blur's early producer Stephen Street (Leisure, Modern Life is Rubbish, Parklife, The Great Escape, Blur), he worked with the band on the material. Damon then added lyrics and the 12 tracks on The Magic Whip is the result.

    Into

Lionel Williams leaves behind the murkier lo-fi production of his 2012 debut full-length, Lemniscate, for the somnambulant pop of Into. The new album-out July 24th on Chaz Bundick's (Toro Y Moi, Les Sins) Company Records-moves Lionel's Vinyl Williams alias into a more vivid, multi-colored dream world. Unlike the dramatic film scores of his grandfather (famed composer and conductor John Williams), this 25-year-old Los Angeles-based musician's songs are far more introspective, effortlessly blending ambient, electronic, Krautrock, psychedelia and shoegaze influences into a uniquely visceral listening experience that often mirrors the surrealism of his own collage-based visual artwork.

Like staring at the intricate geometry of a nautilus shell through a rippling aqua lens, Into's detailed arrangements shimmer across the stereo field with Williams' breathy, yearning melodies bathed in warm reverb. The gentle, rhythmic percolation of breezy album opener "Gold Lodge" imagines CAN at their most ethereal, as if vying for a release on 4AD Records during the label's halcyon days. Similarly, Cocteau Twins-esque guitars ring above the pulsing kosmische atmosphere of "Hall of Records" and then later, the 10-plus-minute "Xol Rumi" takes a detour across the Autobahn using Neu!'s motorik precision. Elsewhere, the celestial "Greatest Lives" shuffles through a thick, gooey cloud of synths, while instrumental "The Tears of an Inanimate Object" pays tribute to the spiritually minded explorations of Alice Coltrane and Dorothy Ashby, with astral harp strums guiding the light electronic accompaniment.

From the mysterious, nocturnal drive of first single "World Soul" to the gauzy, space-age funk of "Allaz," Vinyl Williams nicely blurs the line between melodicism and experimentation, his impressionistic song-craft being as inviting as it is beguiling. In this modern era of shuffled playlists and musically short attention spans, Into is that rare album created to be listened to uninterrupted from beginning to end, and one that is sure to reveal itself again and again after each successive play.

West Coast-based AUTHOR & PUNISHER, the long-running, one-man industrial doom project propagated by iconic sound contortionist Tristan Shone, is pleased to announce his fifth and latest creation of audio rebellion. Titled Women & Children, the follow up to last year's critically lauded Ursus Americanus full-length further challenges the traditional confines of extreme music with eight tracks of audio exploration and mechanical decomposition.

Shone elaborates: "AUTHOR & PUNISHER's newest sonic endeavor combines elements of both machines and more traditional apparati to stretch and blur the dynamic palette from doom to industrial, to heavy bass music, and back again."

Adds Seventh Rule Recordings label head Scott Flaster: "The new AUTHOR & PUNISHER? On first listen I was thrown into a grey world where the bleakness of early industrial music layered with a heavier contemporary dirge. "

First New Laibach Album In 8 Years

"Laibach at their best blur art and confrontation" - Guardian Live Review

Spectre, the new album from Laibach, is their first
studio album since 2006's Volk. This follows their the
original soundtrack for film Iron Sky
    (dir. Timo Vuorensola, 2012).

Laibach once again 're-invents' itself with Spectre in
a newly born, yet polished and solid formation. As is
now their custom, Laibach calls into question all the
rigid and cemented interpretations (and prejudices)
about itself, about its music, intentions, philosophy
    and ideology.

Spectre sounds like a political manifesto in poetic
form. With these lyrics and songs, Laibach, who has
always given a controversial impression / impression of
controversy, is now very clearly taking a position on the
political spectrum and probably abolishing its own (to
some extent quite comfortable) political 'freedom'
    and neutrality.

    Silver Apples

New 24 Bit /96 kHz Transfer Taken From The Original Master Tapes

    Deluxe Silver Foil Jacket (Tip-On)

    Limited Blue Sky Colored Vinyl

Formed in 1967 as a psychedelic electronic duo featuring Dan Taylor on drums and Simeon on a homemade synthesizer consisting of 12 oscillators (and an assortment of sound filters, telegraph keys, radio parts, lab gear and a variety of second hand electronic junk), Silver Apples quickly gained a reputations New York's leading underground musical expression.

Their pulsating rhythmic beats with the use of electronics laid the groundwork for what would become "Krautrock."

Silver Apples was released in 1968 and still remains an innovative and revolutionary album. Their highly influential sound has influenced countless bands from Stereolab, Beastie Boys, Blur and more.

The first remarkable trait of Lazy Smoke's sound is the lead vocal's similarity to John Lennon. Upon digging just a little deeper below the surface, we instead find a darker tone and a patient, eerie feeling resonating through the songs.

While bands like The Beatles and Love were singing about love, lament and hallucinated travel experiences, the songs on Corridor of Faces get sincerely dark right away.

Even the seemingly-light teenage love-themed "Sarah Saturday" shares an undercurrent of on-the-edge uncertainty. It's this undercurrent that calls to mind comparisons to Forever Changes era Love. Originally privately pressed in MA in an edition of only 500 copies in 1968. Now repressed again in 2016 on Blue Sky Colored Vinyl.

    Amber

Amber, the second full-length from Autechre and considered by many to be their ambient opus (though we imagine they wouldn't call it that!) having been out of print on vinyl since 2001. Amber contains eleven tracks of sparse Ae minimalist machine modules that blur the boundaries between isolationist electronica and richly vivid techno soundscapes. Considered by many fans to be the most crucial recording from the group, it contains some of their most immersive soundscapes to date. Steering away from the post-hardcore dynamics that shone through on Incunabula, Amber moves further away from anything resembling 'techno' and moved into more territories of abstract ambience. These eleven crystal-like cubes of sound came together to produce some of the most mind-bendingly hypnotic sounds to be committed to wax during the 90's. Placing Ae up in the ranks of legendary composers such as Steve Reich and Manuel Gottsching as well as their Artificial Intelligence contemporaries with whom they were crafting the building blocks of the future. There is something uniquely immersive about Amber, it's almost as if as you are playing it the sounds are fading away before they even begin, when played from the start you can lose a lot of time within the endless gradients that adorn its cover, before the sounds just seemingly, disappear.
