Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

Ultra High quality laminations, lower inductance and superior sound. These transformers were especially designed and tested with several low-output moving coil cartridges. These are very difficult transformers to construct and require a precision manufacturing process that can only be done by David Geren at CineMag.

Includes premium construction with C&K Brand Silver contact toggle switches, and Deluxe Gold Plated RCA jacks.

These specially designed transformers are wired to connect a moving coil cartridge (on a turntable) to a phono preamplifier, phono input of a receiver, or your preamp's phono input.

Switchable for 1:20 (26 dB gain) or 1:40 (32 dB gain).

Into a standard 47k phono preamp, the effective input impedance of the low gain (1:20 ratio) is 118 ohms. At 1:40, the effective input impedance is 29 ohms.

The 1:40 ratio is perfect for those extremely low output cartridges including some by Audio Notes and Ortofon SPU.

Ultra High quality laminations, lower inductance and superior sound. These transformers were especially designed and tested with several low-output moving coil cartridges. These are very difficult transformers to construct and require a precision manufacturing process that can only be done by David Geren at CineMag. The same construction techniques are used as in the 1131, except that the inductance of the SKY 30 is even lower due to the lower step up ratios.

Hand Crafted, Moving Coil (MC) Cartridge Step-up Transformer (SUT) built with new CineMag SKY 30 (Blue Version) Transformers and gold plated hardware in a hand polished black powder coated cast-aluminum enclosure. All lettering is laser etched. Included are 2 switches: high/low gain and ground/lift.

Switchable for 1:15 (24 dB gain) or 1:30 (30 dB gain).

Into a standard 47k phono preamp, the effective input impedance of the low gain (1:15 ratio) is 209 ohms. At 1:30, the effective input impedance is 52 ohms.

The 1:30 ratio is perfect for most low output cartridges.

    Construction Techniques:

All connections are Resistance soldered using the American Beauty system which avoids heat damage to the delicate insulation on the hair-like wires of the transformers. Test equipment is very low current to avoid saturating the transformer cores. You can count on a premier product that is state-of-the-art.

This unit includes a grounding post that can be used to connect your turntable ground and your preamplifier ground. It also includes a ground lift switch. In all modes, the transformer cases and faraday shield internal to the transformers are connected to the ground screw. In the ground mode, the phono system minus sides (negative sides) are connected to the grounding lug. This configuration works well for those systems where the turntable ground is connected to the negative leads coming from the phono cartridge or where the negative inputs to the preamp are internally connected to ground. In the lift mode, none of the conductors in the RCA jacks are connected to the case, ground, or shield and there is no electrical connection between channels. This design allows you much flexibility to mitigate for ground loops regardless of the configuration of your other equipment.

Shielded Solid Silver Conductor Interconnect Cables

Bob's Devices continues to break the price barrier by offering top quality audiophile cables at 1/3 the price of competitive products. All our cables are hand crafted, fully balanced, individually tested and terminated with top of the line Cardas Audio SRCA and the new Cardas XLR connectors. For those of you who prefer RCA locking connectors, we offer the Vampire LRCA-8 Locking connectors with spring loaded center pin.. The interior connections are resistance soldered and dampened in pure Teflon wrap.

The silver and silver clad interconnects are terminated using WBT silver solder. As always, we back our cables with our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. All Bob's interconnects feature a balanced type of architecture with internal conductors carrying the + and - signal with an additional braided conductive shield that is connected on one end only. This provides shielding effectively rejecting RF and EM interference without creating ground loops (say goodbye to hum).

Three lines of cables are offered: cables with Solid Silver conductors, cables with Silver-clad copper conductors and our limited production vintage cables constructed with copper conductors.

This Solid Silver custom terminated interconnect is Bob's top-of-the-line cable. It features a pair of pure silver 22 awg conductors and triple-shielding consisting of a silver plated OFC braided shield coupled to an Aluminum/Mylar shield and a Teflon PTFE shield. Covering the shield is a braided nylon sheath encased in a clear PVC outer jacket. Internally, this cable has 5 polyethylene air tubes separating and isolating the conductors.

Bob's silver cable is custom terminated in our lab with your choice of the best Cardas SRCA or the new Cardas XLR connectors.

Bob's custom terminated silver-clad crystal copper interconnects feature a balanced design architecture using Polyethylene insulation and a pair of silver plated copper conductors (SP-OFC) that are insulated with Foamed Polyethylene, and wrapped together by a double screen shielding consisting of a tinned OFC braided shield coupled to an Aluminum/Mylar shield. This wire architecture is modeled from the wire Koetsu uses to wrap their Platinum magnets. We believe the results will thrill you with exhilarating highs, tight bass, and romantic mids - very much the Koetsu paradigm. These interconnects not only shine with tube equipment but do especially well with a solid-state phono stage and preamp.

The silver clad copper wire uses the UP-OCCP (Ultra Pure - Ohno Continuous Casting Process) which is a continuous-casting method that was developed by Professor Ohno of the Chiba Institute in Japan. This wire is free from impurities (up to 99.99998% pure copper and silver). Accordingly, it is able to transmit electrical signals faster, and with less distortion than ordinary OFC and silver wires.

Bob silver-clad copper interconnects are custom terminated in our lab using the very best Cardas SRCA or the new Cardas XLR connectors. Vampire LC-8 locking connectors are also available.

Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.

This fully integrated Step-up Transformer/VPI Interface Box was specifically created to improve the performance of your VPI turntable when used with a low output Moving Coil Phono Cartridge. It replaces the standard VPI Interface Box with a unit that combines the top of the line Bob's Devices exclusive "Blue Series" CineMag 1131 Step Up Transformers with the VPI Interface Box. This unit eliminates a set of interconnects and connectors in the phono playback circuit. The path between the moving coil cartridge and the phono preamplifier is as critical as it is sensitive due to the low voltage and current being transmitted. Further, this path is also subject to RF and other interference. You will hear the difference by streamlining this path - "the fewer stones in the road the smoother the ride."

This Bob's Devices VPI-SUT replaces the standard VPI interface box on the following arms where the interface box is directly attached to the tonearm base/platform : JMW 12.7, JMW 12.6, JMW 12.5, JMW 9T, JMW 9S, JMW C2, JMW C3, Classic, JMW 10, and JMW 10.5i (and other heritage JMW arms - contact us for specific applications). It will not work where the interface box is mounted directly to the plinth.

    You will, "Hear the Magic!"

    Shadows In The Night

Columbia Records announces Bob Dylan's new studio album, Shadows In The Night. Featuring ten tracks, the Jack Frost-produced album is the 36th studio set from Bob Dylan and marks the first new music from the artist since 2012's worldwide hit Tempest.

Upon Columbia's announcement of the album's release, Bob Dylan commented, "It was a real privilege to make this album. I've wanted to do something like this for a long time but was never brave enough to approach 30-piece complicated arrangements and refine them down for a 5-piece band. That's the key to all these performances. We knew these songs extremely well. It was all done live. Maybe one or two takes. No overdubbing. No vocal booths. No headphones. No separate tracking, and, for the most part, mixed as it was recorded. I don't see myself as covering these songs in any way. They've been covered enough. Buried, as a matter a fact. What me and my band are basically doing is uncovering them. Lifting them out of the grave and bringing them into the light of day."

As Columbia Records Chairman Rob Stringer explains, "There are no strings, obvious horns, background vocals or other such devices often found on albums that feature standard ballads. Instead, Bob has managed to find a way to infuse these songs with new life and contemporary relevance. It is a brilliant record and we are extremely excited to be presenting it to the world very soon."

Locked inside your CD, HRx, BluRay, and SACD collections is a wealth of music you've not yet heard. The DirectStream Memory Player uncovers the musical treasures long-buried in your library. Eight years in research, two years in development, the DMP is our crowning achievement in musical reproduction of optical media. If there are any better sounding players on the market, we are unaware of them. Breathe new life into your CD collection played through any DAC. Send the raw DSD layer of SACD into your DirectStream or DirectStream Junior DAC so you can hear, for the first time, what's long been unavailable to external DACs in these high-resolution discs.

35 years after the introduction of the CD, PS engineers have perfected the art of data extraction and delivery so you can finally hear what's been locked away in your CD and SACD collection. The DirectStream Memory Player (DMP) is a universal optical disc transport with a twist inside: an advanced Digital Lens. The Lens, first invented in 1993 by PS Audio's Paul McGowan and Bob Stadtherr, electrically isolates the mechanical transport/laser mechanism of optical disc readers, improves audio quality to a degree few systems have yet achieved, and focuses audio data into a single, bit-perfect, timing-perfected stream to your DAC.

CD reproduction is unequaled by any other player we know of. CDs played through DMP now comes closer than ever to high-resolution PCM and DSD, uncovering new layers of dimensionality, soundstage, depth and musicality previously unobtainable in other optical readers or server based audio systems.

DMP opens the long restricted DSD layer of SACD to PS Audio DACs. Through a unique code-handshake, DMP will deliver the raw DSD layer of copyright protected SACD directly into your PS Audio DAC. This means that for the first time you'll uncover the wealth of audio's finest digital medium, DSD, and hear exactly what the mastering engineers who created these discs have enjoyed all along.

Welcome to DMP, the last optical disc player you will ever need. There are simply no better devices made.

    Inflammable Material

The debut album from Belfast's finest punk band, originally released on the Rough Trade label in 1979. Inflammable Material features two of the greatest songs recorded on the controversy and violence surrounding Northern Ireland. Suspect Device and Alternative Ulster indict both sides of the conflict, the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the Irish Republican Army, in driving punk rock form. Those tracks, along with Rough Trade (which blatantly attacks their own record label), and the Bob Marley cover, Johnny Was, make up the highlights of one of the greatest albums of the first wave of punk. Reissued on 180g vinyl.

Funky Was The State Of Affairs

Fergus and Geronimo's leap between their early R&B-influenced singles and their first wildly diverse record was so daring, many music writers and fans were forced to reconsider the pigeonhole to which they had already damned them. Happily damned them, since, after all, those early tracks went over exceptionally well. But observers and admirers were also left doing something not many get to experience in this dime-a-dozen singles renaissance: scratching their heads concerning what this group would do next. After a first record that was such a departure, not only did they wonder, they actually cared.

Founding member Andrew Savage is very conscious of the risks the band took, the changes that were made in order to avoid being marginalized. Says Savage: "Jason (Kelly) and I had no interests in becoming lost in the indie rock/garage rock milieu. The nature of those early singles was that they were instantaneously gratifying, and we both wanted to make a record that was ultimately gratifying, but not necessarily instantaneous."

Now we have an idea of how far Fergus and Geronimo are continuing to take their gradually conceptual ambitions, in the form of their second full-length record, Funky Was The State of Affairs.

Like some of history's most well-regarded and oft-reissued acts, the group is doing exactly what they are compelled to do: making an album that actually plays like a cohesively complete statement. "I feel like bands aren't really making albums anymore. By that I mean, a start to finish concept meant to be listened to in its entirety. Labels are more interested in singles, which is in a tail-wags-dog sort of way.

And yet the record is entirely unpredictable, even as it tackles reoccurring themes, which Savage says include, "aliens, technology, intergalactic dating/hooking up, the Roman Empire, and the earthling resistance movement." At times the story seems filtered through the earthling point of view; in the next, extraterrestrials listen to phone-tapped conversations by some understandably paranoid humans.

Though at times it sounds like fairly serious subject matter, the group employs a sharp-tongued attack with the same sort of gallows humor cracked wise by the likes of their equally Doubting Thomas inspirational figures, everyone from the Mothers of Invention to Devo. Within the first few minutes, the tone is set; the bright, spiky, opening track over a Krautrock rhythm, "No Parties," contains a line summarizing the restlessness caused by the alienation of modern habits, sung in a mock-English accent: "Collecting devices, you're paying the prices/Of over consumption, with mental destruction."

"Basically, its a dystopian sound-scape of our civilization's collapse," says Savage. Indeed, those feelings of dread are sometimes instrumentally emphasized by passages of synthesizer static and noise, which Savage attributes to being influenced by groups like Chrome. New members Bob Jones (guitar, bass, analog synth) and Jef Brown (Tenor Sax) also add to the playful chaos. Savage says the original duo added members in order to achieve "the tightness that can only come from recording with a live core," as "musicianship is extremely important to Jason and I."

Since Brown and Jones both played in the self-explanatory Evolutionary Jass Band, which evolved out of the equally experimental Jackie-O Motherfucker, there is an expansion in the group's improvisational capabilities that wasn't as obvious on past recordings. Yet nothing sounds forced, each interlude is enjoyable, each hip-hop-inspired skit serves a narrative-pushing purpose. The record bounces from Booker T-styled soul ("Wiretapping Muzak I and II") to early '80s New York dance rock ("Marky Move") with an immodest ease.

"Hi, I'm Heather Strange, and I'm a 23-year-old human earthling female" says a woman between the first and second track. "Really, I'm just looking for a man whose cerebral capabilities haven't been fried by LCD screens yet." Most people reading this might be able to relate to Heather's plight, or worse yet, sink under the weight of being the type of person she's desperately seeking to avoid. But such is the genius of Fergus and Geronimo. They have made all of these variously opposing forces; dark and light, alien and earthling, melody and noise, condemning and being condemned, something that you feel like listening to over and over again. If only to hear what happens next.
