    Both Sides of the Sky

Both Sides Of The Sky presents 13 studio recordings including 10 which have never before been released. All but two of these studio recordings were made during a fertile period between January 1968 and 1970. Jimi's mastery and use of the studio as a proving ground for new songs resulted in a growing collection of extraordinary material. This album completes a trilogy of albums [with Valleys Of Neptune and People, Hell & Angels] presenting the best and most significant unissued studio recordings remaining in the Hendrix archive. The songs include fascinating alternate versions of Stepping Stone, Lover Man and Hear My Train A Comin' as well as recordings where Jimi is joined by special guests Johnny Winter and Stephen Stills. Both Sides Of The Sky was mixed by Eddie Kramer, the engineer for all of Hendrix's albums throughout the guitarist's lifetime, and produced by Janie Hendrix, Kramer and John McDermott.

Mannish Boy - The first ever studio session by the group Hendrix would christen as his Band Of Gypsys. Hendrix, Cox & Miles shared a love for the blues as this driving, uptempo reworking of Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters makes clear.

Lover Man - Just two weeks before their triumphant New Year's concerts at the Fillmore East in NYC [yielding both 1970's Band Of Gypsys and 2016's sequel Machine Gun], Hendrix gathered with Cox and Miles to cut this dynamic rendition of what had become a favorite concert staple.

Stepping Stone - A totally unique take on this Hendrix favorite, with Jimi showcasing both blues and country styled licks atop a relentless, galloping beat.

$20 Fine -Stephen Stills joined Jimi, Mitch Mitchell and Buddy Miles Express keyboardist Duane Hitchings at this September 1969 session. With Stephen handling lead vocals and organ, Jimi added multiple guitar parts to this rollicking Stills original.

Power Of Soul - This 1970 studio session came three weeks after the Band Of Gypsys concerts at the Fillmore East. While a live version remains one of the highpoints of Band Of Gypsys, Jimi never released a studio version during his lifetime. For this album, we present the mix that Hendrix and Kramer prepared of the complete song at Electric Lady on August 22, 1970.

Jungle - The influence of Curtis Mayfield can be heard here as Jimi expands on the Villanova Junction Blues theme he made famous by its inclusion in the 1970 Woodstock documentary.

Things I Used To Do - Jimi is joined for this rendition of Guitar Slim's blues classic by Johnny Winter. Jimi's trademark guitar work and Winter's deft slide playing weaves in and around the foundation set by bassist Billy Cox and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young drummer Dallas Taylor.

Georgia Blues - Jimi reunited with some old friends from his pre-Experience days. Lonnie Youngblood, with whom Hendrix played in R&B groups like Curtis Knight & The Squires, voiced this superb twelve bar blues neatly underpinned by Hendrix's sublime rhythm and lead guitar work.

Sweet Angel - With Axis: Bold As Love only just released, Jimi immediately turned his focus to recording what would become Electric Ladyland. This gorgeous, instrumental reading of Angel,, features Jimi on guitar, bass and vibraphone joined by Mitch Mitchell.

Woodstock - Stephen Stills came to this session fresh from having visited Joni Mitchell, who had a new song that Stills was excited to try and record. Long before CSNY's version, Stephen, Jimi and Buddy Miles recorded this amazing rendition.

Send My Love To Linda - A superb new Hendrix original composition recorded with Cox and Miles in the aftermath of their successful Band Of Gypsys performances at the Fillmore East.

Cherokee Mist - Together with drummer Mitch Mitchell, Jimi created this moody, evocative original complete with his playing of a sitar to complement his traditional electric guitar.

Mastered From Original Tapes By Bernie Grundman

Pressed On 180 Gram Audiophile-Grade Vinyl At
    Pallas Group In Germany

Recorded In 1967 At Jazzhus Montmartre In
    Copenhagen

Dexter Gordon recorded dozens of albums and played
hundreds of live shows, but none better than what's
captured on this 1967 date at Jazzhus Montmartre
in Copenhagen. The hard-bop saxophonist blows
nothing less than a 28-chorus solo without referencing
one standard tune on an epic 12-bar rendition of
"Sonnymoon for Two" and, for good measure, sails
through an extended, calypso-themed version of Ben
Tucker's "Devilette." Want sentimentality? No problem.
Get lost on "Misty," on which pianist Kenny Drew and
drummer Al Heath add their own signature strokes.
    What a set!

Both Sides of Midnight marks Gordon's peak live
recorded document and a can't-miss opportunity for
collectors and enthusiasts to get closer to the man and
    his music.

    Both Sides of the Gun

With the release of his seventh studio album, Both Sides of the Gun, Ben Harper offers his signature mix of rock, soul and folk music, while also venturing into new territory. I was hoping I could come back to the root of my earlier records, the sparseness and intimacy, he says, and also branch out further in a produced sound than ever before. From the blazing Curtis Mayfield/Stevie Wonder-style funk of Black Rain to the gentle sway of Morning Yearning to the full-on power ballad Waiting for You, the eighteen songs on Both Sides Of The Gun reveal a master stylist at the peak of his game. Black on Both Sides is the debut album of American rapper Mos Def, now known as Yasiin Bey, released October 12, 1999 on Rawkus Records. Prior to the album's recording, Mos Def had collaborated with rapper Talib Kweli for the duo's studio album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star (1998), which raised high expectations for a solo effort. Black on Both Sides features an emphasis on live instrumentation and socially conscious lyrics.

Exclusive Only To This LP Release: First Time Sitting Photos Of The Dead By The Legendary Herb Greene

Impeccably Mastered By Joe Reagoso At Friday Music Studios And Capitol Records, Hollywood, CA With Ron McMaster

The legendary Bay area rock superstars the Grateful Dead scored for over four decades a plethora of wonderful recordings throughout their incredible career. Spearheaded originally by the late great Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kruetzmann and the late Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, these five gentlemen set the world on fire with their magnificent artistry and musicianship unparalleled to this day.

With their very first San Francisco live gigs and when they were locally known as The Warlocks, the historical importance of these debut concert recordings would soon become a blueprint for the music world as the Grateful Dead would become one of the biggest concert attractions of all time.

Over a decade ago, the Grateful Dead unearthed 14 super rare live recordings from the mid-sixties. None of these recordings were ever previously released at the time. Recorded in San Francisco from a July 1966 performance, when they were signed to the Scorpio Records label, this ultra rare concert tape simply became manna for the fans and was truly a find for any collector of fine rock and roll and
early psych and garage rock fare.

Dead fan favorite Viola Lee Blues kicks off the rare collection, and then the fireworks light up as future Grateful Dead classics like Don't Ease Me In and the stellar Jimmy Reed classic Big Boss Man truly become a very important and interesting listen to any fan of the Dead or classic rock in general.
Known for their jams in concert, you will get to hear stellar takes on rare blues tracks like One Kind Favor, Next Time You See Me and
of course their super rare Bob Dylan interpretation of It's All Over Now Baby Blue, which would be an interesting choice not knowing there
would be future collaborations with Dylan in both of their important later careers.

Even superlative covers of Otis Redding's Pain In My Heart and the Slim Harpo blues champion I'm A King Bee are included in this amazingly important and historic rock release from this much loved band.
These Grateful Dead recordings have never been released on the vinyl format that is until now
Friday Music is very pleased to announce for the very first time on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl - The Grateful Dead's Birth Of The Dead Volume Two-The Live Sides. This deluxe 2 LP set not only has the original 14 live performances unearthed by the Dead themselves, but it also includes for the very first time anywhere several unearthed photos from the lens of the legendary Herb Greene. These first time issued photos show the very first sittings of the Grateful Dead and will make your listening hours that much more enjoyable as you stare at the
brilliant pictures of your favorite rockers in this very special era.

    Living On The Other Side

The Donkeys are more than simply four California beach bums who love to surf, drink beer, and jam as the sun sets over the Pacific. If their back story contains those top-down cars and suntanned utopian surf tableaus, it also contains the malaise and the escape fantasies familiar to all suburban kids of the 80s and 90s. Miraculously, the music manages to communicate both moods at once. Any expression of existential ennui - is this all there is? - is soothed by an unrushed guitar lick and a harmonized twang that becomes almost meditative. This record is about rolling down the windows, cranking up the stereo, and hitting the open road.

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Original Threshold Records Tapes

In 1986, The Moody Blues' "The Other Side of Life" album and their top charting hit single "Your Wildest Dreams," truly made this one of the most important chapters in their stellar career. Not only did millions of fans support this incredible masterwork, but it also received accolades from the young fans of MTV, which garnered the legends a Billboard Video of the Year award for the smash hit song. "The Other Side Of Life" Lp features nine stunning performances from the talents of Justin Hayward (guitar/vocals), John Lodge (bass/vocals), Patrick Moraz (keyboards & formerly of Yes), Ray Thomas (flutes/vocals) and Graeme Edges (drums/vocals).

The top ten album achieved platinum status, with even more smashes like "Rock and Roll Over You" and the brilliant "The Other Side Of Life", which takes the listener back to their "Days Of Future Passed" into the modern era of "Long Distance Voyager."

Power ballads were always Justin Hayward's specialty as "I Just Don't Care Anymore" chalks up another home run, along with the hard rockin' "Running Out Of Love" both of which made this one of The Moodies most popular albums.

The world's most predictably unpredictable band, The Flaming Lips, have teamed up with their Oklahoma City brethren, Stardeath and White Dwarfs to record their own unique take of Pink Floyd's 1973 classic album The Dark Side Of The Moon, under the title of The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches.

Much has been written about West Side Story, which began as a transmogrification of Romeo and Juliet as a feud between the Jews and Gentiles living on the East side in modern-day New York, only to morph into a confrontation between two street gangs, one American the other Puerto Rican, on the upper West side of the city. Initially, Leonard Bernstein, its composer, was to have written both music and lyrics, but Stephen Sondheim was eventually brought in to handle the latter. With Arthur Laurents contributing the book, and Jerome Robbins devising the staging, the show opened to great acclaim on September 26, 1957 at the Winter Garden, where it played 732 performances, and was subsequently revived several times on Broadway and around the country. But it was the film version, made three years later with Natalie Wood as Maria, that ensured its popularity worldwide. Though there are many recorded versions of the percussive score available, the original cast album, with its fresh, spontaneous performances, remains the standard by which all others are measured.

Amon Amarth strikes with a stake through the heart on With Oden on Our Side, a heavier album than refines the band's patented melodic death metal style. - Blabbermouth

As if the Norse deity had cast a blessing on Amon Amarth, the band emerged with an album that will define a before and after in their career for years to come. Recorded at Fascination Street Studios with producer Jens Bogren, the majestic riffs, thunderous drums and roaring vocals have never sounded better and more convincing. A match surely made in Valhalla, Mikkonen comments on the collaboration as follows: We had never worked with a producer before the way it should be done. Jens Bogren took the band to a new level, both production- and sound-wise. Musically, this album is more worked through and, most important of all, we wrote it together as a unit. A most fearsome and deadly unit, that is now gearing up to crush audiences the world over once again!

Dylans Second 1964 Album Expands Songwriting Themes and Adds Levity

Wider Grooves, Superior Sound: Mobile Fidelitys 45RPM Edition The Last Word in Analog Fidelity

Recorded in One Day: Whimsical Feel, Surrealist Lyrics, On-the-Fly Fluidness Grace the Bards Loosest 1960s Effort

Includes I Shall Be Free No. 10, It Aint Me Babe, My Back Pages, Chimes of Freedom

The Freewheelin Bob Dylan, Bringing It All Back Home, Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, and The Basement Tapes Also Available from Mobile Fidelity

The ever-evasive Bob Dylan never explicitly stated exactly what represented the another side of himself referenced in the title to his second 1964 record. Yet the whimsical moods, hallucinogenic prose, humorous angles, transparent mistakes, and noncommittal themes give a pretty clear idea at what the Bard hinted as he emerged from being labeled as a reluctant generation spokesperson and folk savior after releasing two highly intellectual, socially pioneering sets replete with protest songs. Dylan needed to take a breath, step back from the drama, and reevaluate his surroundings. Another Side of Bob Dylan is all that and more.

As part of its Bob Dylan catalog restoration series, Mobile Fidelity is thoroughly humbled to have the privilege of mastering the iconic LP from the original master tapes and pressing it on 45RPM LPs at RTI. The end result is the very finest, most transparent analog stereo edition of Another Side of Bob Dylan ever produced. Be there as the Minnesota native spends the evening of June 9, 1964 in Columbias Studio A and, displaying an openness hed never before revealed in a formal environment, lays down the songs that compromise his fourth album.

Featuring minimal editing, Another Side of Bob Dylan is naked, truthful, and whimsical. Mobile Fidelitys reissue illuminates the artists conditionhe laughs in the midst of songs, experiences a few false starts, hits a couple of bum notes, occasionally sings as if hes stumbling down a Manhattan sidewalk after having one too many at a smoky pub, prizes rawness over perfectionwith microscopic accuracy. Indeed, Dylans slightly woozy and completely playful state related to his having downed a handful of bottles of Beaujolais during the sessions.

The uninhibited joie de vive is discernable in the rattling piano lines on Black Crow Blues, seemingly subconscious ramble of the hysterical folk rhyming of Motorpsycho Nightmare, bluesy dream sequencing throughout I Dont Believe You, and intentionally out-of-tune yodeling during All I Really Want to Do. On a majority of the prized set, Dylan lets his guard down, but does so in clever manners that speak to his surrealist imagination and biting wit. He possesses the rare ability to make planned strategies appear spontaneous, to challenge audiences with stinting wordplay and minimalist melodies that provide a deceptive false security.

And so the apparently autobiographical and self-aware My Back Pages, one of the earliest examples of Dylans immersion into symbolist prose and abstract metaphor, remains controversial for its on-the-surface denouncement of his earlier condemnations of social institutions and injustices. Peeled back, the tune is a brilliant releasean essential escape hatch for Dylan to both relieve himself of unneeded pressures and distance himself from pundits. As an indelible piece of art, it succeeds in masquerading obvious meaning while simultaneously forcing listeners to question their own actions. Quintessential Dylan.

As is the trifecta of relationship-themed compositions that closes the record, as well as the eternal Chimes of Freedom, the standard that journalist Paul Williams dubbed Dylans Sermon on the Mount. Its inseparable conjunction of apocalyptic imagery, personal emotion, allusive lyricism, balladic alliteration, and inclusive sympathy signaled that, having already eviscerated the rules associated with pop and folk music, Dylan had just begun his assault on our consciousness, making Another Side of Bob Dylan that much more mysterious, unequivocal, and requisite.

Given the sonic and artistic merit of this album, we anticipate huge demand.

Mono 2LP Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies, Vinyl Delivers Whimsical Feel, Surrealist Lyrics, On-the-Fly Fluidness in Sound Dylan Intended

Includes I Shall Be Free No. 10, It Ain't Me Babe, My Back Pages, Chimes of Freedom

Experienced in mono, Another Side of Bob Dylan is all that and more.

Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3,000 copies, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP set illuminates Dylan's emotional condition - he laughs in the midst of songs, experiences a few false starts, hits a couple of bum notes, occasionally sings as if he's stumbling down a Manhattan sidewalk after having one too many at a smoky pub, prizes rawness over perfection - with microscopic accuracy and unparalleled directness. The preferred mix at the time of the recording, the mono version presents Dylan as he and his producers originally intended. Since the separation of the stereo versions isn't as sharp, this mono edition places Dylan's vocals in the heart of the musical action and as one with the accompaniment. It paints listeners an incredibly accurate portrait of the attention-getting, concrete mass of sound that features no artificial panning and straight-ahead immersion into the music. This is how almost everyone first heard this timeless album - making the mono mix all the more historically valuable and truthful.

The uninhibited joie de vive is discernible in the rattling piano lines on Black Crow Blues, seemingly subconscious ramble of the hysterical folk rhyming of Motorpsycho Nightmare, bluesy dream sequencing throughout I Don't Believe You, and intentionally out-of-tune yodeling during All I Really Want to Do.

And so the apparently autobiographical and self-aware My Back Pages, one of the earliest examples of Dylan's immersion into symbolist prose and abstract metaphor, remains controversial for its on-the-surface denouncement of his earlier condemnations of social institutions and injustices. Peeled back, the tune is a brilliant release - an essential escape hatch for Dylan to both relieve himself of unneeded pressures and distance himself from pundits. As an indelible piece of art, it succeeds in masquerading obvious meaning while simultaneously forcing listeners to question their own actions.

As is the trifecta of relationship-themed compositions that closes the record, as well as the eternal Chimes of Freedom, the standard that journalist Paul Williams dubbed Dylan's Sermon on the Mount.

    B-Sides and Rarities

This compilation contains every song Beach House - aka Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand - has made that does not exist on one of their albums. The band explains:

When we announced that we were releasing a B-sides and rarities album, someone on Twitter asked, "B-sides record? Why would Beach House put out a B-sides record? Their A-sides are like B-sides." This random person has a point. Our goal has never been to make music that is explicitly commercial.Over the years, as we have worked on our 6 LPs, it wasn't the "best or most catchy songs that made the records, just the ones that fit together to make a cohesive work. Accordingly, our B-sides are not songs that we didn't like as much, just ones that didn't have a place on the records we were making.

The oldest song is "Rain in Numbers" and was recorded in 2005, during the summer when we formed the band. We didn't have a piano, so we asked our friend if we could use his, which was pretty out of tune. We used the mic that was on the four-track machine to record the piano and vocals. It was originally the secret song on our self-titled debut.

The next couple of songs are from late 2008. We were so excited about "Used to Be" that we quickly recorded it and put it on a 7" for our fall tour with the Baltimore Round Robin. The same session begat our cover of Queen's "Play the Game" for a charity compilation benefiting AIDS research; we will continue to donate all profits from the song to that charity. As fans of Queen, we thought it would be fun and ridiculous to try to adapt their high-powered pop song into our realm. These songs were recorded at the same studio where we made Devotion.

There are a bunch of songs written and recorded in the 2009-2010 window. "Baby" was written and recorded in October 2009 with our friend Jason Quever. "10 Mile Stereo"was recorded during the Teen Dream session in July 2009.Since we used tape, we often slowed the tape way down to create effects while recording, which led to "10 Mile Stereo(Cough Syrup Remix)."

"White Moon" and "The Arrangement" were both songs that we didn't believe fit on Teen Dream. "White Moon" originally appeared on our iTunes live session. Since that was recorded and mixed very hastily, we have remixed it to better match our current aesthetics. We have also remixed and included the version of "Norway we did at that same session. We wrote and recorded "I Do Not Care for the Winter Sun" during a break between tours and released it on the internet for free, unmastered. Well, it's finally been mastered

Doolittle 25: B-Sides, Peel Sessions And Demos

First released in 1989 and Doolittle was
the second Pixies album, but the first to
be made available in the US. An instant hit
with both critics and fans, its slow burn
success has since helped it to sell close to
a million copies in the US alone.

Among the praise thrown Doolittle's way, Pitchfork ranked it at Number 4 in their
Best Albums of the 80s poll, while NME
writers in 2004 named it their second best
album of all time. 2009 saw the band tour
the album to celebrate its 20th birthday
and 5 years on, they've decided it's now
time to give it the deluxe release treatment
    it deserves.

The vinyl version tracklisting includes the
B-sides, the Peel Sessions and the album
demos being pressed on to two pieces of
180g black vinyl. Again, this comes with
new art from Vaughan Oliver which is different to CD art.
