Remain In LightRanked 126/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Cut from the Original Analog Masters and Pressed at RTI for Stunning Sound!
Formed in the mid 70s by art school chums David Byrne, Chris Franz, and Tina Weymouth and ex-Modern Lover Jerry Harrison, Talking Heads rose out of the CBGB punk crucible and proved themselves one of the most artistically adventurous and influential bands of all time. Their visionary, polyrhythmic sound fused elements including rock, funk, and punk with diverse world beats, avant-garde minimalism, and pure pop genius.
From their 1977 debut through their Brian Eno and self-produced classics and on to their swan song (1988's Steve Lillywhite-produced Naked), Talking Heads constantly broke creative boundaries while also scoring smart radio hits including "Burning Down The House," "Wild Wild Life," and, from 1980's Remain In Light, the brilliant "Once In A Lifetime."
Considered by many fans and critics alike to be the band's best album, Remain In Light was the third release in the Heads/Eno trilogy and fourth overall. More melodic and funkier sounding than that of its predecessors, the recording finds the band further exploring the African rhythms hinted at on 1979's Fear of Music with the help of a growing personnel that now included Adrian Belew (guitar), Bernie Worrell (keyboards), Steven Scales (percussion) and backing vocalists. As propulsive and essential as ever here on 180 gram vinyl courtesy of Warner Bros. Records!
"On this New Wave watershed, the avant-punk avatars became polyrhythmic pop magicians. David Byrne and Co. combined the thrust of P-Funk, the kinky grooves of Afropop and the studied adventurousness of producer Brian Eno - and they still had a pop hit with 'Once in a Lifetime'." - Rolling StoneThe Great Curve

Another Green WorldFrom November 1975, 'Another Green World' represents the bridge between Brian's ground-breaking pop career and his early experiments with ambient music. Music For Installations (Box Set) (Awaiting Repress)9x Vinyl Box Set
First Time On Vinyl
The legendary Brian Eno is set to release a collection of new, rare and previously unreleased tracks, Music For Installations, through UMG.
The new collection will be available as a 9-LP edition vinyl box set. This is the first time any of the 'Music For Installations' tracks will be available on vinyl.
Musician, producer, visual artist, thinker and activist Brian Eno first came to international prominence in the early 70s as a founding member of Roxy Music, and immediately followed that with a series of critically-praised and influential solo albums. His visionary production work includes albums with David Bowie, Talking Heads, Devo, Laurie Anderson and Coldplay, while his long list of collaborations includes recordings with John Cale, David Byrne, Grace Jones and James Blake.
Less widely discussed, though equally notable and arguably even more prolific, are his visual experiments with light and video. These are the fertile ground from which so much of his other work has grown; they cover an even longer span of time than his recordings and have in recent decades paralleled his musical output.
These highly-acclaimed works have been exhibited all over the globe - from the Venice Biennale and the Marble Palace in St Petersburg to Beijing's Ritan Park and the sails of the Sydney Opera House.
Brian Eno said of the collection: "If you think of music as a moving, changing form, and painting as a still form, what I'm trying to do is make very still music and paintings that move. I'm trying to find in both of those forms, the space in between the traditional concept of music and the traditional concept of painting."
Music For Installations is a collection of new, rare and previously unreleased tracks, all of which will be available on vinyl for the first time. All of the material was recorded by Eno for use in his installations covering the period from 1986 until the present (and beyond). Over this time he has emerged as the leading exponent of generative music worldwide and is recognized as one of the foremost audio-visual installation artists of his time.

Music performed and composed by Robert Fripp & Brian Eno
Brian Eno is usually credited with the claim that everyone who originally bought a Velvet Underground album subsequently formed a band. It's no less valid to suggest that many of those involved in electronic music might not have been but for "No Pussyfooting" and "Evening Star". Indeed few contemporary albums can claim as much lasting influence as "No Pussyfooting" by Fripp & Eno. It's safe to say that for the vast majority of buyers at the time of its initial release in 1973, this was their first exposure to the small world of electronic music. It's equally safe to say it wasn't their last. The equipment used was, by modern standards, primitive. The ideas expressed were, by any standards, enormous. Many went on to have careers based on the possibilities suggested by the album. Fripp & Eno - to their eternal credit - were too busy working as musicians to ever 'milk it' in that sense. One further full album, "Evening Star", was issued in 1975. There were occasional collaborations, but no further recordings under the Fripp & Eno banner until the emergence of "The Equatorial Stars" in late 2004 as a limited edition release via the artists' websites, followed by a full release in 2005 on CD.
However, it was never issued on vinyl, until now.
"The Equatorial Stars" consists of a series of seven soundscapes. The evident care taken in the construction & presentation of the sound world makes the totality of the work so convincing. The textures & atmospheres forming the heart of each track manage to subtly change & alter, while leaving ample space for Robert's guitar solos to emerge from the centre. The album was Fripp & Eno's opportunity to redefine an area of music they helped to launch into the mainstream in the first instance.
It is also, incidentally, Robert Fripp's personal favourite of his many collaborations with Brian Eno.1. Meissa

The ShipHumankind seems to teeter between hubris and paranoia: the hubris of our ever-growing power contrasts with the paranoia that we're permanently and increasingly under threat. At the zenith we realize we have to come down again...we know that we have more than we deserve or can defend, so we become nervous. Somebody, something is going to take it all from us: that is the dread of the wealthy. Paranoia leads to defensiveness, and we all end up in the trenches facing each other across the mud." - Brian Eno The Ship, a new album by Brian Eno, will be released by Warp Records.
The Ship is Eno's first solo record since 2012's Grammy- nominated LUX. Originally conceived from experiments with three dimensional recording techniques and formed in two, interconnected parts, The Ship is almost as much musical novel as traditional album. Eno brings together beautiful songs, minimalist ambience, physical electronics, omniscient narratives and technical innovation into a single, cinematic suite. The result is the very best of Eno, a record without parallel in his catalogue.
The album opens with the 21-minute eponymously titled "The Ship" on which Eno's cyclically sung sea-chant builds in ominous drama, followed by "Fickle Sun", a song in three movements. The first continues where "The Ship" left but with Eno's voice sounding more upfront, determined, even despairing. The album's finale is a Lou Reed penned cover of The Velvet Underground's "I'm Set Free", a band who were famously credited by Eno as the inspiration behind his early music explorations as an art student. Coinciding with The Ship's release, a series of Eno installations will be happening around the world at which you will be able to hear an alternative telling of The Ship in multi-channel 3-dimensional sound installations.1. WARB-NON-3555xDavid Byrne and Brian Eno
My Life In The Bush Of GhostsNow approaching its 25th anniversary, Brian Eno and David Byrnes My Life in the Bush of Ghosts appears downright visionary. With its found vocals, cut-and paste arrangements, funked-up rhythms and embrace of influences from all around the globe, the duos controversial work anticipated the creative cross-pollination and technological innovation of contemporary electronic dance music, world music, hip hop and alternative rock. You can hear echoes of My Life in the Bush of Ghosts in the anthems Moby built around vintage vocal samples, in the outrageously exotic beats of Missy Elliot and Timbaland, in the Middle Eastern-accented chill-out tracks of Thievery Corporation or Bjorks otherworldly soundscapes.
Back in the day, however, critics were divided and audiences were, well, confused. Eno and Byrne themselves didnt know quite what they were looking for at first. They shard an enthusiasm for African music, especially the hypnotic grooves of Nigerian Feka Kuti, and a desire to free themselves from the constraints of conventional songwriting. They embarked on a nomadic journey through studios in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The players who accompanied them on these sessions included drummers Chris Frantz (Talking Heads) and Prairie Prince (The Tubes), bassist Bill Laswell (Material) and Tim Wright (DNA), avant-garde percussionist Dave Van Teighem and conga player Steve Scales, part of the Remain In Light live band. The result of their labors was an album that married West African and American R&B rhythms with the impassioned voices of talk-show hosts and evangelists taped off the radio or the evocative sound of prayerful singers culled from Middle Eastern field recordings. Byrne recalls their entire adventure in fascinating liner notes that detail the recording process and address the resulting critical furor. My Life in the Bush of Ghosts was cut between Talking Heads Fear of Music (1979) and Remain In Light (1980), but sample clearance issues, an almost unheard-of-problem in the analog era, kept it on hold until 1981.1. ReflectionReflection is the latest work in a long series. It started (as far as record releases are concerned) with Discreet Music in 1975 ( - or did it start with the first Fripp and Eno album in 1973? Or did it start with the first original piece of music I ever made, at Ipswich Art School in 1965 - recordings of a metal lampshade slowed down to half and quarter speed, all overlaid?)
Anyway, it's the music that I later called 'Ambient'. I don't think I understand what that term stands for anymore - it seems to have swollen to accommodate some quite unexpected bedfellows - but I still use it to distinguish it from pieces of music that have fixed duration and rhythmically connected, locked together elements.
The pedigree of this piece includes Thursday Afternoon, Neroli (whose subtitle is Thinking Music IV) and LUX. I've made a lot of thinking music, but most of it I've kept for myself. Now I notice that people are using some of those earlier records in the way that I use them - as provocative spaces for thinking - so I feel more inclined to make them public.
Pieces like this have another name: they're GENERATIVE. By that I mean they make themselves. My job as a composer is to set in place a group of sounds and phrases, and then some rules which decide what happens to them. I then set the whole system playing and see what it does, adjusting the sounds and the phrases and the rules until I get something I'm happy with. Because those rules are probabilistic ( - often taking the form 'perform operation x, y percent of the time') the piece unfolds differently every time it is activated. What you have here is a recording of one of those unfoldings.1. Reflection$24.99Vinyl LP - 2 LPs Sealed Buy Now

Someday WorldBrian Eno and Karl Hyde (of Underworld) come together with a new album to be released this May on Warp Records. This is the first vocal/band project from Eno since 2008's David Byrne collaboration. Someday World comprises nine songs, composed and sung by Eno & Hyde together with a highly distinguished cast of supporting musicians, including Eno's Roxy Music bandmate Andy Mackay, Tessa Angus, Nell Catchpole, Marianna Champion, Will Champion, Kasia Daszykowska, Don E., Darla Eno, Georgia Gibson, John Reynolds and Chris Vatalaro. Following his 2013 Grammy nominated album LUX, Brian Eno produced this new album with 20 year old Fred Gibson, and continues an ongoing collaboration between Hyde & Eno which sees the two together on a complete album for the first time. FearNearly five years into his solo career, Velvet Underground alum John Cale headed to the studio to reinvent himself yet again in 1974. The result, Fear, became the first of a trio of eclectic albums all released in a period spanning just inside 14 months for Island Records. On this, his fourth solo release and first collaboration with Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera and Brian Eno, Cale changes form with every composition.
Back on domestic vinyl for the first time in decades, this RTI-pressed edition of Fear is cut at Mobile Fidelity by in-house engineer Krieg Wunderlich and features stunning sonics. Quiet surfaces, faithful artwork, and the opportunity to hear Cale's incisive fare unfold amidst wide soundstages and black backgrounds-not to mention the intense content within-make this Wax Cathedral LP a must for music aficionados.
A smooth, textured departure from the clamor of the Velvets but a darker, more rage-filled concoction than Cale's 1973 set Paris 1919, Fear amazes with boundless range. Whether he's channeling the sweet, gentle Doctor Jekyll in symphonic ballads like "Emily and Ship of Fools, sharpening his teeth as the demented Mr. Hyde in the graffiti-strewn city-rock anthem "Gun, or thrilling with morbid joy in Fear is a Man's Best Friend," Cale effortlessly metamorphoses from one persona to the next. The whimsical Man Who Couldn't Afford to Orgy bounces into the earnest, misty You Know Me More than I Know."
In the background, Manzanera's guitar buzzes and stings as Eno sculpts a changing landscape of textures with his synthesizer. Infused with sarcastic or cynical lyrics, sweeping melodies, and a wide-eyed sense of exploration, Fear spins rage into beauty and back again.

Roxy MusicSimultaneously embracing kitschy glamour and avant-pop, Roxy Music's self-titled debut shimmers with seductive style and pulsates with disturbing synthetic textures. Bryan Ferry tracks out his nightclub glamour-boy persona here and his wandering vibratos sail over Brian Eno's atonal flourishes, but what really makes Roxy Music such a confident, astonishing debut is how these primitive avant-garde tendencies are married to full-fledged songs, whether it's the free-form, structure-bending Remake/Remodel or the sleek glam of Virginia Plain.1. Flesh And Machine
LP Contains CD Of Full Album
Daniel Lanois is one of the most influential record producers
of the modern era: the man who brought Bob Dylan back;
longtime collaborator with Brian Eno, soundsculpting a series
of mammoth releases for U2; and producer of breakthrough
late-career albums by Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris. But
before all that, Daniel Lanois was an experimental musician, recording his unique guitar voicings for groundbreaking albums
with guys like Brian Eno and Jon Hassell, along the way helping
to invent a genre called ambient music. What is lost in the
wild success of his production career is Lanois' musical life at
the edge, which is where Flesh and Machine, his new album
on ANTI-, comes full circle.
A wildly ambitious, diverse exploration of modern sonics, Flesh and Machine careens from the
huge guitar skronk of "The End" to the haunted landscapes of
"Iceland." But perhaps for the first time, Lanois' new album
highlights the strange parallel evolution that has taken place in Daniel's music; alongside
the developments in IDM that launched from the same 70s avante-intrumental roots as Eno
and company, Lanois' music has developed a rhythmic complexity heard in the most adventurous music by Autechre or Matmos. Only for Lanois, nothing is digital. Dense, visceral
music that combines the primitive stomach-pounding volume of rock with the heartbreaking
found sonics of early electronic music, Flesh and Machine reminds us that we are bodies in a
mechanized world, and that in the midst of our digital noise we must not forget to breathe.1. Rocco

InsidesJon Hopkins is a musical shape shifter: a composer, pianist and a self-taught studio wizard. He makes big, bold electronic music using walls of synths, twinkling melodies and amorphous bass rumbles. As such his two albums have seen him labeled by the likes of ambient patriarch Brian Eno as an electronic innovator while an impressive sweep of artists from Herbie Hancock to David Holmes, not to mention contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor, lo-fi folkster King Creosote and musical blue bloods Coldplay, have all called upon the 28-year-old Londoner's handiwork as a producer and composer.
On Insides, his Domino debut, Hopkins showcases an intriguing musical aesthetic to brilliant effect. Insides is about juxtaposition: natural, arcane textures welded to pulsing, hypnotic rhythms, beautiful acoustic melodies set against jarring bass. The music is reminiscent of the beautiful melodies and harsh dirty beats of other British artists like Four Tet, Squarepusher, Burial and Aphex Twin. Above all, Insides is an audacious album which boasts a magical aura all of its own.
Hopkins' talents caught the ears of Brian Eno, who enlisted him to work on his Another Day on Earth album and most recently on Coldplay's Viva la Vida. In fact, Coldplay were so taken with Hopkins' music, the band asked him to rework the track Light Through the Veins (from Insides) to bookend their album. The pairing eventually led to an invitation to Hopkins to join the band on its 2008 USA, European and Japanese tour, both as an opening act and pre-show DJ.1. The Wider Son
