    The Noise Made By People

Broadcast will have their long out of print albums made available again through Warp Records on LP. This seminal catalogue encompasses the albums Work And Non Work, The Noise Made By People, Haha Sound, Tender Buttons, The Future Crayon and ...Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age.

After being mired in the studio for nearly three years, Broadcast returned with their first proper full-length album, The Noise Made by People, a collection of more shimmering, weightless pop that is nostalgic for yesterday's visions of the future but remains on the cutting edge of contemporary music. Where their early singles (collected on 1997's Work and Non-Work) painted small, quaint portraits of their retro-futurism, The Noise Made by People delivers their sound in widescreen, filmic grandeur. Richly layered yet airy pieces like the album bookends, Long Was the Year and Dead the Long Year, seamlessly blend symphonic, electronic, and pop elements into smoky, evocative epics, while synth-based interludes such as Minus One and The Tower of Our Tuning present Broadcast's more detached, scientific side. Likewise, Trish Keenan's air-conditioned vocals sometime suggest a robotized Sandie Shaw or Cilla Black, but her humanity peeks out on Come on Let's Go and Papercuts. Echo's Answer and Until Then are two of the other highlights from the album, which despite all of its chilly unearthliness, is a noise made by (very talented) people.

Unchained In A Rusty Cage: New York Broadcast 1996

The recording on this deluxe vinyl release comes from a show Cash gave at Irving Plaza in New York a few months before the release of Unchained, and features a number of cuts from the album mixed with many classic oldies. Delivering a dynamic performance, Cash was at the high point of his rebooted career, and this recording proves that it was not Johnny who had lost any of the old magic, but merely that his old recording company had failed to properly promote or provide resources - and that when a new man with bright ideas worked alongside Johnny Cash, The Man In Black was just as popular with 1990s audiences as he had been with music fans in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Deluxe LP Featuring AIC's Performances At The La Reina Sheraton Hotel in L.A. On September 15th, 1990 & The Hollywood Palladium On December 15th, 1992

This deluxe LP release contains two complete Alice In Chains shows, one apiece from the tours supporting the group's first and second records, often considered two of the most important albums in modern American alternative rock. The first is taken from a performance at The La Reina Sheraton Hotel in L.A. on 15th September 1990, shortly after the release of Facelift, while the second was captured at The Hollywood Palladium on 15th December 1992, hot on the heels of their Dirt album. Broadcast over local FM radio at the highest possible audio quality, and featuring such classics as 'Man In The Box', 'Sea Of Sorrow', 'We Die Young' and 'Would?', this collection will not only be a welcome addition for the Alice In Chains faithful, but equally a fascinating insight into the golden years of the grunge movement itself...

Zappa hit the road in September '81, with his latest touring band, comprising Chad Wackerman on drums, Ed Mann on percussion, Tommy Mars on keyboards, Scott Thunes on bass, with Steve Vai and Ray White on guitar. In November the group travelled to New York State, played a couple of shows up north before hitting the city and unloading at the infamous Ritz venue in the East Village on the 17th.

The show that night was captured by WLIR FM Radio and broadcast across the East Coast to the delight of Zappa fans who hadn't been lucky enough to secure a ticket. Playing for more than two and a half hours, with special guests Al Di Meola and Brian Peters joining on a couple of numbers.

    Radio Jellyfish

Imagine if real jellyfish had skeletons; they're magical creatures, elusive and captivating on the outside, and these recordings would be the bones.

In their continuing expedition of Jellyfish-Omnivore Recordings is proud to release Radio Jellyfish, a 10 track collection of acoustic goodness. At the end
of 1989, a television program called MTV Unplugged premiered. The premise was quite simple-artists performing their hits in minimal arrangements with
acoustic instruments. It became a musical and cultural juggernaut.

That leads us to Radio Jellyfish. Ten tracks culled from two international radio stops; one in Holland, the other in Australia. The foursome plays tracks
from both LPs, and naturally some covers. Even taken out of the studio, and away from the "stage", the sound is unmistakably Jellyfish. It's been well
documented that the four members of the band could replicate the enormous sound of their albums through releases like Live At Bogart's and a bevy of B
-sides. But, apart from one track first released on the out-of-print Fan Club boxed set (and included here), acoustic Jellyfish-without a net-has not been
explored. That's nine previously unissued performances; tracks unheard since their international broadcast two decades ago.

In the complete opposite way Stack-a-Tracks showcased their studio prowess, and Live At Bogart's put listeners in the club; Radio Jellyfish takes them to
the bare essence of why this band is beloved. The voices. The songs. They're there in the same way they have been in every other release, and in a way
    fans never heard them.

    Music For The Masses

Initially the title must have sounded like an incredibly pretentious boast, except that Depeche Mode then went on to do a monstrous world tour, score even more hits in America and elsewhere than ever before, and pick up a large number of name checks from emerging house and techno artists on top of all that. As for the music the masses got this time around, the opening cut, Never Let Me Down Again, started things off wonderfully: a compressed guitar riff suddenly slamming into a huge-sounding percussion/keyboard/piano combination, anchored to a constantly repeated melodic hook, ever-building synth/orchestral parts at the song's end, and one of David Gahan's best vocals (though admittedly singing one of Martin Gore's more pedestrian lyrics). It feels huge throughout, like they taped Depeche recording at the world's largest arena show instead of in a studio. Other key singles Strangelove and the (literally) driving Behind the Wheel maintained the same blend of power and song skill, while some of the quieter numbers such as The Things You Said and I Want You Now showed musical and lyrical intimacy could easily co-exist with the big chart-busters. Add to that other winners like To Have and to Hold, with its Russian radio broadcast start and dramatic, downward spiral of music accompanied by Gahan's subtly powerful take on a desperate Gore love lyric, and the weird, wonderful choral closer, Pimpf, and Depeche's massive success becomes perfectly clear.

    Chicago Jazz Festival 1990

Classic late period festival show from Miles' final tour.

Miles Davis is backed by Kenny Garrett on alto saxophone and flute, Kei Agaki on synths, Richard Patterson on bass, Ricky Wellman on drums, Erin Davis (Mile's youngest son, incorrectly announced as John Bigham) on electronic percussion, and John "Foley" McCreary, Jr. on "lead bass" - a custom Blue Marble instrument tuned almost an octave higher than a standard model to fill the role of a lead guitarist.

The choice of material was equally as curious and exciting, consisting of one cut apiece from 1983's Star People and 1989's Amandla, a few numbers previously un-released on studio recordings, and a trio of covers - Scritti Politti's 'Perfect Way,' Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' and Michael Jackson's 'Human Nature.'

Despite rumors of failing health during this period, Miles' playing is just as sharp and energetic as ever it was, and his band expertly blend together a complex mixture of jazz, funk and fusion.

Broadcast live on local radio for those unable to attend, this release captures the group's full set providing a snapshot of a jazz great giving one of the finest performances of his late career. Sadly, there were scant opportunities left for such as little more than a year after performing the show, now available here for the first time, Miles Davis passed away at the age of 65.

    Future Crayon

Broadcast will have their long out of print albums made available again through Warp Records on LP. This seminal catalogue encompasses the albums Work And Non Work, The Noise Made By People, Haha Sound, Tender Buttons, The Future Crayon and ...Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age.

Collecting most of Broadcast's EP tracks, B-sides, and rarities from The Noise Made by People and Haha Sound eras, Future Crayon is a welcome reminder of how consistently interesting the band's output is. Indeed, the band's other EP collection, Work and Non-Work, flowed just as well, if not better, than many other groups' full-length albums. Future Crayon isn't quite that cohesive, but it does chart how Broadcast's sound developed during that time, and also includes some tracks that even die-hard fans might have missed the first time around. The collection begins with a string of relatively poppy songs that rival the quality of anything that appeared on either The Noise Made by People or Haha Sound. Extended Play Two's Illumination is particularly gorgeous, opening with an insistent bassline and Trish Keenan's coolly lovely voice before achieving lift-off with clouds of backing vocals and art-damaged synths. Meanwhile, Still Feels Like Tears from the Pendulum EP takes the title track's stripped-down psych-rock in a lighter, sweeter direction, while Extended Play's Where Youth and Laughter Go begins as a clockwork lullaby and then swells into quintessentially Broadcast-like sci-fi lounge-pop. Future Crayon then delves into the more experimental side of the band's music, which usually only appears as brief interludes on their albums. 1998's Hammer Without a Master, which originally appeared on the Warp comp We Are Reasonable People and is one of this collection's rarest tracks, is an especially striking collage of horror-show organs and death-surf guitars grounded by jazzy drumming; along with Daves Dream, it sounds like a more elegant version of the sound Add N to (X) was pursuing at the time. The aptly-named Chord Simple is a lovely, oddly affecting instrumental that appears twice here, both on its own and as a part of a harder-edged version of Unchanging Window. While the decision to put most of the more accessible tracks on the first half of the disc is understandable, it doesn't always make for the easiest listening -- sometimes, it feels easy to get lost in the more abstract moments later on in the collection. Nevertheless, Future Crayon is a must for Broadcast obsessives and a good way for casual fans to explore some of the rougher edges of their music.

Live FM Broadcast Recorded In Rome, Italy - July 1996

    Limited To 500 Copies

Anyone alive during the 1990s is aware of the unstoppable musical force that was Alanis Morissette during that decade. Having been a Gold & Platinum-selling teen dance-pop sensation back in her native Canada, her first two domestic-only albums - Alanis (1991) and Now Is The Time (1992) produced a number of Top 40 singles. The show included here, recorded in Rome, Italy and broadcast live over local FM radio in July of 1996, perfectly demonstrates the singer's signature mezzo-soprano at its best. With a setlist made up largely of alternative versions of tracks from Jagged Little Pill, this double LP release illustrates why this exceptionally talented artist became such a runaway success, seemingly overnight.
