Butterfly is the sixth studio album by American singer and songwriter Mariah Carey, originally released on September 16, 1997, by Columbia Records. The album contained both hip-hop and urban adult contemporary sounds, as well as some softer and more contemporary melodies. Throughout the project, Carey worked with Walter Afanasieff, with whom she had written and produced most of the material from her previous albums. She also worked with many famed hip-hop producers and rappers, such as Sean Puffy Combs, Q-Tip, Missy Elliott and the Trackmasters. With the latter acts producing most of the album, Butterfly deviated from the contemporary sound of Carey's older work and was hailed as a defining album of the 1990s and of pop and R&B music.1. Steve Walsh is known for his work as the frontman of the progressive rock band Kansas, from which he retired in 2014. On his new solo album Black Butterfly the influences from his past are brought together in some compact rock songs. Steve wrote the 14 songs of the album together with the Swedish musician Tommy Denander and the Christian rocker Jerome Mazza takes the lead vocals on three songs. The music goes from the sounds of Kansas (The Piper) to the beats of Warsaw and the political news on Billy Carbone Dead. Black Butterfly is a wonderful return to Walsh' studio work.
Whoever speaks out the name of Steve Walsh will directly think about the massive worldwide success of the American rock band Kansas. He was the lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist on their well-received albums Leftoverture and Point of Know Return as well as on their single hits Carry On Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind. Their progressive songs were interspersed with rock ballads and attracted a massive following.LP 1

Iron Butterfly Live
First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Release
Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso At Friday Music And Capitol Mastering, Hollywood, CA
Features The 1970 Concert Classic 19 Minute Version Of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
Iron Butterfly is truly an amazing success story in the record business. For over forty years, this band remained a significant force in the classic rock world with their original mix of rock, metal and classic leanings, solidifying them as one of the true purveyors of the progressive rock movement. Founded by the multi-talented keyboardist/vocalist Doug Ingle in San Diego in 1966, the band hit the charts immediately and soon became one of the key favorite biker bands and west coast hard rockers alongside entities like Steppenwolf, Grateful Dead and The Doors.
Their live performances were challenging, loud, exciting and definitely original, which brought them huge popularity in a very short period of time. 1968 changed everything as In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida became a massive smash garnering Iron Butterfly major success globally. This tune displayed the first example of a driving hard rock jam and lyric, with classical, organic and tribal rhythms, making it one of the most important songs of our time. Featuring Doug Ingle's keyboard and vocal expertise, Lee Dorman's power bass, guitar shredder Erik Brann, and Ron Bushy's primitive drum beat, this amazing stage shows will forever be associated with the acid rock era, which paved the way for heavy metal bands into the seventies and beyond.
ATCO Records knew the power of their live performances, therefore the quartet was awarded with another smash Lp, the concert recording masterwork chart topper Iron Butterfly Live. The 1970 smash contained 6 smokin' selections from their first three hit albums. Hard rock is abounding like the 19 minute workout on In-A Gadda-Da-Vida and other killer jams like Soul Experience, Are You Happy and Filled With Fear.
This masterpiece has been out of print on vinyl for many decades that is until now! Friday Music is very proud to offer another installment in our Iron Butterfly 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with their classic 1970 smash album Iron Butterfly Live .

The Moonlight ButterflyIn January of 2011 Sam Prekop, Archer Prewitt, John McEntire, and Eric Claridge reconvened at Chicago's Soma Electronic Music Studios to record their latest release The Moonlight Butterfly.
This 33 minute mini-album finds the band delivering much more long form and cinematic pieces. The new songs lean upon the band's more experimental tendencies, taking time to stretch the forms and in someways the new material relates to the way the band re-interprets some of their songs live.
With the band making a shorter than usual record they were allowed to take more chances and ended up with a release that leans a bit more towards the instrumental. Rather than having the vocals be the sole focal point the shifts in emphasis to other instruments facilitated a more open approach.1. Covers

DirtyDirty finds Sonic Youth revisiting the territory the band mapped out on Sister -- merging the propulsive structures of rock (both punk and otherwise) with the gorgeous chaos of their approach to the electric guitar -- and it shows how much better they'd gotten at it in the past five years, from the curiously beautiful Wish Fulfillment and Theresa's Sound World to the brutal Drunken Butterfly and Purr. Dirty was also Sonic Youth's most overtly political album, railing against the abuses of the Reagan/Bush era on Youth Against Fascism, Swimsuit Issue, and Chapel Hill, a surprising move from a band so often in love with cryptic irony.1. 100%

The Smashing Pumpkins' career-defining 1995 double album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness has earned Diamond certification by the RIAA for sales of 10,000,000 discs and digital equivalent per disc (5 million copies of the double album). This news comes in the midst of EMI Music's extensive reissue campaign honoring the legacy of the iconic alternative band. It continues December 3 in North America and December 4 internationally with the Pumpkins' fourth album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness receiving the fully remastered treatment for the first time. This follows last year's acclaimed reissues of the band's groundbreaking first two albums, Gish (1991) and Siamese Dream (1993), as well as this past summer's Pisces Iscariot (1994), the band's third album.
Originally released October 24, 1995, Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness would debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified 9x platinum by the RIAA. It yielded major hits like ''Bullet With Butterfly Wings''-the band's unlikely first Top 40 hit-the exquisite ''1979'' and epic ''Tonight, Tonight'' as well as a thoroughly inspired series of videos. Produced by BILLY CORGAN, Flood and Alan Moulder, the album would also earn a Grammy Award (1996 Best Hard Rock Performance for ''Bullet With Butterfly Wings'') as well as seven nominations. Beyond the more obvious hits, though, Mellon Collie is a song cycle of unusual depth and considerable range. It is a collection of stunningly beautiful moments when everything lined up--a moment in time that's still here to be treasured.1. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

Technicians of the SacredTechnicians of the Sacred is the first allnew Ozric Tentacles album since 2011's Paper Monkeys (and their first double album since their classic Erpland release of 1990), and comprises eleven tracks, with over ninety minutes of music. Tracks such as Switchback, Rubbing Shoulders With the Infinite and Butterfly Garden are brilliant examples of the Ozrics musical art; pulsating rhythms and blissedout tunefulness present and correct.
The band are to undertake a twentyfour date European tour in late April and May 2015, including twelve UK shows to promote the muchanticipated release of Technicians of the Sacred, with further gigs in the USA to follow.
Ozric Tentacles first came together at the Stonehenge Free Festival in 1983, and built an audience through selling privately produced cassettes of their music. Their talent for hypnotic, mantralike grooves found kindred spirits in the British rave scene of the late 1980s, uniting the seemingly disparate 'New Age' hippie and Rave audiences. Despite the lack of a hit single, media notoriety or the usual music business hype, much less majorlabel backing, their 1993 album Jurassic Shift was a UK top twenty album, and their hardcore audience is both dedicated and loyal to the band's unique sound. At the core of the band's music is an exploration of electronic musical textures and compulsive, danceable grooves interlaced with strong melodies and multiethnic musical references.LP1

Volume 2A Blue Note essential, Sonny Rollins' Volume 2 is part of the Blue Note 75 anniversary vinyl reissue campaign -
featuring 100 titles. Key to the initiative is high quality audio at affordable prices. Album features performances
recorded in 1960.
Outside of Paul Chambers, who was employed as Miles Davis's bassist at this time, all of the other players on these April 1957 RVG Hackensack dates were leaders of their own renowned groups; a reflection of the respect they all shared for the date leader, Sonny Rollins. Besides Chambers, with J.J. Johnson on trombone, Art Blakey behind the drums and alternating pianists Thelonious Monk and Horace Silver, who both play on the now-famous version of Misterioso, the words All-Star seem almost demeaning to this conclave.
The resulting recordings burst forth with confidence and enthusiasm, capturing a fire and passion usually found only with uninhibited live dates and not the constraints of a recording studio. Exceptional versions of Poor Butterfly and You Stepped Out Of a Dream elevate this record to monumental status.1. Why Don't I?

The Mission is an English gothic rock band from the UK formed in 1986.
Initially known as The Sisterhood, the band was started by front man Wayne Hussey and bassist Craig Adams (both from The Sisters of Mercy). Aside from Hussey, the line-up has changed several times during the years and the band has been on hiatus twice.
Having sold over 4 million albums, the band reformed to celebrate 25 years of The Mission. Hussey, Hinkler and Adams reunited in 2011 to kick start a new chapter of the band and continue to tour the world & release new material.

PinkertonPinkerton on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity
1996 Sophomore Album Cited on Countless Best-of Decade Lists
Includes El Scorcho, Pink Triangle, Tired of Sex, and The Good Life
Loosely Related to Puccini's Madame Butterfly, Confessional Album Lays Bare Frustration, Confusion, Awkwardness, and Loneliness Amidst Power-Pop Settings
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Experience the Album's Edgier Feel as Originally Intended
Few records claim as bizarre a history as Weezer's Pinkerton. Upon release in 1996, the band's sophomore effort failed to meet sales expectations, lacked a hit single, and drew primarily negative reviews from the press. Then, via word of mouth and reevaluation, the Little Album That Could began to build a reputation as an initially misunderstood masterwork-a bold, brave, and exposed creation that happened to have hyper-contagious hooks to accompany the confessional lyrics. Today, it's cited on virtually every Best Albums of the 1990s list in existence.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's analog version of the effort Rolling Stone awarded a full five-star review upon revisiting it eight years later brings the band's live-in-the-studio vocals and darker, raw feel to the surface like never before. Leader Rivers Cuomo's decision to record group choruses around three microphones rather than capture them separately finally can be experienced as originally intended, with the immediate vibe paying off in the form of more engaging, edgier results that parallel the songs' personal emotions and frustrated themes. Guitars, which scrape and push, augmenting the trials and tribulations documented in the narratives, are finally rendered in proper perspective.
Comprised of nonfiction tunes largely based on Cuomo's dissatisfaction with rock-star life, and written by the singer/guitarist as he attended school at Harvard University, Pinkerton confronts disappointment, loneliness, isolation, awkwardness, and cruel romantic irony with a universal perspective to which anybody can relate. Cuomo selected the character Lieutenant Pinkerton from Puccini's Madame Butterfly as a touchstone, believing the persona symbolic of the tormented protagonists in his songs-and recognizing similar struggles to come to terms with identity.
Weezer's aims on Pinkerton have connected with many that identify with its narratives and adore its surfeit of melodies. Surpassing cult-classic status and conquering fickle tastes, the record ranks in Guitar World's "Top 100 Guitar Albums of All-Time"; Spin's "100 Best Albums From 1985 to 2005"; Pitchfork's "Top 100 Albums of the 1990s"; and Rolling Stone's Hall of Fame.
For all the malaise, Pinkerton also contains beloved wit and humor. Shyness and hands-in-pocket diffidence inform "El Scorcho"; incongruity and surprise surround the simultaneously funny and sad "Pink Triangle"; tedium and desire collide on the cynical "Tired of Sex." Psychosexual confusion, unrequited passion, and good intentions elicit unintended sympathies, a trait that remains one of the record's brilliant turns.

Borboletta (Speakers Corner)
After some hot live performances and subversive jaunts made in the aftershock of Woodstock, Santana and his band entered the calm atmosphere of the recording studio to make their sixth album. Taking a look at the blue butterfly on the LP cover, it wasn't surprising that purist Santana fans scented that the music in this particular garden would be more gentle and cultivated than the previous hard-rock sound. But one thing after another: in attune with semi natural sounds, the 'Canto De Los Flores' swings along to dabbed figures on the Rhodes piano and waves of multi-cultural drumming.
The drama continues with Life Is Anew - a powerfully arranged ballad, followed by a highly emotional rock number (Give And Take). This takes us to where Santana feels most at home - Promise Of A Fisherman with its velvety, wonderfully expansive guitar sound. By now, at the latest, the listener joins the sensitive outdoorsman on his chase after the butterfly named Boborletta with a wealth of gorgeous sounds. Don't hesitate to capture this rare specimen for your collection!

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. Spring Manifestations

ADAD-TEM-6117xExplosions In The Sky
The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead PlaceExplosions in the Sky's second effort takes a more studied, even lush approach to the literate chaos of their 2001 debut. But put on your sad sack thinking cap now, because Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place is a contemplative and heady rush of masterful melancholia. Its six songs are multi-minute, slow motion workouts of gentle electric guitar plucks and subtle/sudden washes of percussion ù they're still instrumental, but as lyrical as anything in the indie rock universe. 'Only Moment We Were Alone' turns on a simple, melancholy guitar figure, the drums shifting from insistent catch-up mode to a studied march built to introduce the next layered crescendo. Explosions in the Sky doesn't shift as suddenly or jarringly on Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place; the quartet has applied more structural predictability this time out, but is still quick about setting the sad butterflies in your stomach to fluttering. 'Memorial' is the album's meditative heart. It begins so quietly, reduced to brittle landscapes of tone. Lightly chiming guitars drift in, like the echoes of church bells off in narrow city streets. Then, like each of the album's movements, it surges forward in a rush, like the overtures of Sonic Youth separated, dried, and ultimately lengthened in the blistering Texas sun. The final blast of distortion and staccato drumming is Earth at full bittersweet bluster. 'Your Hand in Mine' ends things as they began, with a pair of determined guitars picking out a melody that's both pretty and pretty damn heartbreaking.First Breath After Coma
