Pacific DustFor the band's seventh full-length studio album, The Mother Hips have never been more primed to share their well-traveled tales, the long days and nights on the road, the gritty politics, the smart inward reflections and most of all the music, all delivered with a most appealing balance of Americana storytelling and their California-burnished rock. Pacific Dust's compositions about penning a song in your kitchen at 3:00 am (the thundering album opener White Falcon Fuzz), record company politics (garage-rock boogie Third Floor Story), and a father and son's relationship through music (on the ballad Young Charles Ives) indeed tell the story of many American rock bands. But here's why it matters: The Mother Hips have survived, and in fact thrived, throughout the journey and Pacific Dust, with its bittersweet melodies, poignant lyrics, and strong and gritty musicianship, is a perfect example of why.
Earlier albums such as Part-Timer Goes Full, Green Hills of Earth, and Red Tandy have become almost cult classics among indie music buffs, and the band's most recent 2007 release, Kiss the Crystal Flake, offered proof that the band still continues to attract new supporters. Over the years, the band has worked with and played alongside a slew of renowned/respected colleagues including super-producer Rick Rubin, Wilco, Johnny Cash, and many others. Today, armed with their newest release Pacific Dust, The Hips are poised to take their experience and talent to yet another level.$18.99Vinyl LP - Sealed Buy Now
Rega Ios Moving Coil Amplifier
Have a question about this product? Please email our audio advisor or call 1-877-929-8729 with any questions or concerns regarding your equipment purchase.
Designed as the ultimate MC phono stage and the perfect match for the Rega Apheta MC cartridge Ios has made the transition in to the reference style case to match Isis and Osiris. The new Ios has the addition of balanced XLR connections mute and mono functions. The PCB layout has been redesigned to improve the noise floor and the entire unit has been fully rewired with ultra low capacitance cabling.
The function of a phono pre amplifier is to match the output from a pick up cartridge to the input of a line level amplifier. It is required to amplify the very low signals produced by the cartridge and also to equalise the sound in accordance with RIAA record cutting standard. Rega believes that moving coil and moving magnet cartridges require different types of phono pre amplifiers to achieve optimum performance. The IOS is therefore dedicated to moving coil cartridges and avoids compromises. We have avoided including any superfluous functions as they obstruct the signal path and degrade the sound quality.
The Rega Ios is a four stage all symmetrical amplifier. To provide optimum performance it is dedicated to amplifying the very low level signals that are generated by moving coil cartridges.
The first stage uses a 1:10 step-up transformer, which can be optimised to the cartridge by the selection of the correct loading and zobel DC resistance correction network connected across the MC transformer secondary.
The second stage is a symmetrical compound pair class A amplifier, using paralleled low noise Hitachi transistors in the input stage. This drives the passive high frequency part of the RIAA equalisation stage.
The third stage is a symmetrical class A differential amplifier with a common base driver stage; this is also used as the active amplifier in the low frequency part of the RIAA equalisation stage. The fourth stage is the active filter, this configuration uses the same circuit as found in the second stage. The filter element uses a very high bandwidth operational amplifier.
The power supply is a symmetrical discrete tracking power supply using fast diodes and a low noise voltage reference. Each stage has its own localised power supply, and LED referenced current generators. Very high quality, polypropylene capacitors have been used in the signal path. 1% tolerance polypropylene capacitors are used in the RIAA EQ stages and audio grade capacitors are used in the rest of the circuit.

AromanticismWritten in Montreal, Los Angeles, Asheville, Topanga, Laguna, Big Bear, coastal Nicaragua, and on a sleepy ship traversing the Pacific ocean, making Aromanticism was a 3-year adventure into the parts of the self that society encourages us to silence for the sake of our sanity.
The album title was chosen before any of its songs were written. The not-yet-in-the-dictionary definition of an aromantic is simply someone who doesn't completely feel romantic attraction. I'm just trying to get it out from over the red squiggly line.
Aromanticism features performances and production contributions from Matt Otto (Majical Cloudz), Thundercat, Joshua Willing Halpern, Paris Strother (KING), Miguel Atwood Ferguson,Rob Moose, Ian Chang (Son Lux), Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders), Nicole Miglis(Hundred Waters), Ludwig Görannson, Cam Obi, and more. All of the lyrics and vocal arrangements were written by me. Genre is shirked while choir-inspired vocal layering is employed in order to explore the multiplicities that are contained within a single person.

If AnythingIf Anything, the rst full-length by Greys, is the young quartet's
own warped update of vintage post-punk; frenetic guitars
running against walls of noise, held together by sharp strands of
melody. Emerging from the vibrant Toronto punk scene, Greys
are economical in their swift punches of noise, anchoring short
bursts of mania with huge choruses. Each song exists in its own
space and represents different aspects of the things we like
about noisy, dissonant music," says singer/guitarist Shehzaad
Jiwani. "But instead of being built solely around riffs, they were
built with hooks in mind, too.
The 35-minute LP pulses with a manic urgency, as drummer
Braeden Craig and bassist Colin Gillespie's syncopated rhythms
punctuate guitarist Cam Graham's smothering dissonance.
Through exasperated shouts, Jiwani lets loose the fury that splits
open his songwriting. The lyrics went from outward frustration to
inward, he says. A lot of it takes place from within my own
head. Swinging between hard-driving punk and '90s indie
rifng, the respites on If Anything only underscore Greys' brute
force and anthemic inclinations.
Written over the summer of 2013 and recorded in ten days at

Suicide SocietyWith "Suicide Society", Annihilator goes headfirst into some of the most technically perfect, crisp, and crushingly taut, riffage Waters has ever produced. Although Waters' vocals keep traces of stylings from his "King of the Kill" album, they now evoke a surprising blend of legends such as Staley, Osbourne, Hetfield and Mustaine. This, in a twisted way, mirrors Waters' signature blend of riffing, drums grooves and bass; all drawing from multiple sources and genres. Waters has built a worldwide reputation as being a premier guitarist and songwriter; the conciseness and arrangement of "Creepin' Again" is both an air-guitarist's dream and a sharp reminder of this. The gloriously-brutal thrash of "My Revenge" calls up a vintage of '85 with the technical chops of 2015. The neo-classic title track defiantly expresses anger at the state of world affairs, while offering up hope in closing. With the multi-layered power of the anthem "Snap", Waters illustrates the diversity of Annihilator's sound, without sacrificing one decibel of attack. Metal fans all across the world are aware of Annihilator's stellar, energetic and "real" live shows. Drum monster Mike Harshaw continues on for his 4th year with the band, one familiar name returns & another is born: bassist Cam Dixon (from "King of the Kill" era) returns to the fold & guitarist Aaron Homma makes his debut with the band. DB Technology (Double Brace Technology)
Mass absorbs energy - lost energy equals lost music!
Rega has pioneered the use of lightweight rigid plinths. Clever use of lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundations of the high level of performance achieved by the now iconic original Planar range.
The new Planar 3 takes this design philosophy to the next level. A lightweight acrylic laminated plinth strengthened using a new improved double brace system mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing) which forms a structurally sound stressed beam assembly. This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance, which will add unnatural distortions to the music.
Equally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy, such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record. The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas while providing further weight reduction to the plinth which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.

Why Love NowPissed Jeans have been making gnarly noise for 13 years, and on their
fifth album, Why Love Now, the male-fronted quartet is taking aim at
the mundane discomforts of modern life-from fetish webcams to
office-supply deliveries. Rock bands can retreat to the safety of what
rock bands usually sing about. So 60 years from now, when no one
has a telephone, bands will be writing songs like, 'I'm waiting for her
to call me on my telephone.' Kids are going to be like, 'Grandpa, tell
me, what was that?' I'd rather not shy away from talking about the
internet or interactions in 2016, says frontman Matt Korvette.
Pissed Jeans' gutter-scraped amalgamation of sludge, punk, noise,
and bracing wit make the band-Korvette, Brad Fry (guitar), Randy
Huth (bass) and Sean McGuinness (drums)-a release valve for a
world where absurdity seems in a constant battle trying to outdo
itself. Why Love Now picks at the bursting seams that are barely
holding 21st-century life together. Take the grinding rave-up The Bar
Is Low, which, according to Korvette, is about how every guy seems
to be revealing themselves as a shithead. It seems like every guy is
getting outed, across every board of entertainment and politics and
music. There's no guy that isn't a total creep.
The lyrics on Why Love Now are particularly pointed about gender
relations and the minefield they present in 2016. 'It's Your Knees' is
about the endless, unrequested, commenting on if you'd fuck a girl.
'My great aunt won a cooking contest.' 'Oh, that's pretty hot. I'd hit
that,' says Korvette. On Love Without Emotion Korvette channels
Nick Cave's guttural side while bemoaning his detachment over
cavernous guitars. Ignorecam twists the idea of fetish cam shows-
where the woman just ignores you and watches TV or eats macaroni
and cheese or talks on the phone-into a showcase for Korvette's
rancid yelp and his bandmates' pummeling rock.
As they did on their last album, 2013's Honeys, Pissed Jeans offer a
couple of fuck that shit type songs about the working world. And the
startling I'm A Man, which comes at the album's midpoint, finds
author Lindsay Hunter (Ugly Girls) taking center stage, delivering a
self-penned monologue of W.B. Mason-inspired erotica-office small
talk about pens and coffee given just enough of a twist to expose its
filthy underside, with Hunter adopting a grimacing menace that
makes its depiction of curdled masculinity even more harrowing.
No Wave legend Lydia Lunch shacked up in Philadelphia to produce
Why Love Now alongside local metal legend Arthur Rizk (Eternal
Champion, Goat Semen). I knew she wasn't a traditional producer,
Korvette says of Lunch. I like how she's so cool and really intimidating.
She ended up being so fucking awesome and crazy. She was
super into it, constantly threatening to bend us over the bathtub. I'm
not really sure what that entails, but I know she probably wasn't
joking." The combination of Lunch's spiritual guidance and Rizk's
technical prowess supercharged Pissed Jeans, and the bracing Why
Love Now documents them at their grimy, grinning best. While its
references may be very early-21st-century, its willingness to state its
case cement it as an album in line with punk's tradition of turning
norms on their heads and shaking them loose.1. Waiting On My Horrible Warning

American DreamerThis 10-song debut album from one of Brooklyn's finest rock 'n' roll bands lives up to the expectations set by their previous EP. The arrangements here are simple and uncluttered, with plenty of room for singer Jeremy Fury to dip his vocals in slapback echo reminiscent of Sun Records-era Elvis Presley, and for the backing quartet to bring out the best in songs that reflect the influences of Leiber & Stoller, Eddie Cochran, and The Del-Lords. While the sound retains a '50's-'60s retro vibe, the lyrics apply themselves to universal and even modern concerns (Cam Girl says: Your profile came up on my MacBook screen.)1. Trip Into The Light

Late RegistrationFor haters eager to see Kanye hit a sophomore slump--no such luck. Late Registration can't replicate the novelty of last year's College Dropout, but otherwise, this is an impressively more mature and labored-over album. Lyrically, Kanye's only improved a notch but musically, the album sounds incredible, especially with co-producer Jon Brion helping polish the songs to perfection. Tracks like 'Heard 'Em Say' (featuring Maroon 5's Adam Levine) and 'Hey Mama,' are richly textured in their soulfulness while the flint-edge of 'Crack Music' and 'Gone' (feat. Cam'ron) will appeal to the street-oriented. There's a few duds on here--the sickly-sweet, syrupy 'Bring Me Down' (feat. Brandy) being one of the worst offenders--but when the album's good, it's very, very good. In short, Kanye's detractors may not be swayed in their resistance to his charms but not only will his past supporters be rewarded but Late Registration has enough appeal to earn new crowds of fans.1. Pink Friday: Roman ReloadedNicki Minaj is a fast rising Tinidadian-born American hip-hop artist. After releasing three mixtapes between 2007 and 2009, Minaj signed to Young Money Entertainment in 2009. After signing to Lil Wayne's label, Nicki released her debut album, Pink Friday in November of 2010. Pink Friday peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum a month after its original release. Minaj became the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time.
Since the release of her debut, Nicki Minaj has become a true superstar accumulating massive amounts of awards and accolades in the process. Her follow-up album Pink Friday...Roman Reloaded is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of 2012. Although Pink Friday...Roman Reloaded shares part of its title with its predecessor, the album is a collection of entirely new material including the preceding hit singles Starships, Right By My Side and Beez in the Trap. Features guest appearances from the likes of Cam'ron, Rick Ross, Chainz, Lil Wayne, Nas, Drake, Young Jeezy, Chris Brown, Bobby V and Beenie Man.
I've never had this much fun recording music in my life. My first album I was very guarded. I felt like I was making music to please everyone else. I had to be politically correct, but this album I am just creating music, and there's such a big difference. Literally in the studio we were cracking up laughing, having fun, and enjoying ourselves. The music itself you're going to get every side that I've ever shown and then a little bit extra. I've tried to make it very, very balanced, because I don't ever want to be boxed in, and that's always what drives me. So I made a very diverse album. - Nicki MinajLP1
